IGCSE Tutor near me in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Families looking for an IGCSE tutor near me in Jumeirah Golf Estates usually have two numbers in mind and no way to compare them. This page fixes that. It sets out what each AED band in the Dubai market actually buys, where money gets wasted most reliably, and how many sessions a grade move genuinely takes. IB Gram teaches Jumeirah Golf Estates students one-to-one over live video and sends no tutors to UAE addresses.

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Nobody in this market will tell you what it costs, so here it is

The single strangest thing about searching for IGCSE tuition in Dubai is how hard it is to find a price. Research across sixty-odd competitor pages in October 2026 found that three of the six best-ranking pages publish no figure at all, and that the two which do quote in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family transacts in. One agency's own frequently-asked-questions section asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer it. That is not an accident; it is a negotiating position.

So this page starts with the numbers, cheapest first, and attributes each one. Budget online tuition in Dubai is advertised from around AED 45 an hour. Qualified subject tutors working online sit at roughly AED 150 to AED 300. In-home visits including travel run from about AED 180 to AED 500. Specialist IGCSE and IB provision is quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and the highest published figure found anywhere in the research was AED 650 an hour. The full table, with sources, is further down.

Knowing the bands is only half of it, because the useful question is not what an hour costs but what a grade move costs. A Jumeirah Golf Estates family paying AED 200 an hour for thirty weekly sessions has spent AED 6,000 to produce, often, no measurable change, because the sessions were general support rather than targeted at a diagnosed error. The same family spending AED 1,800 on nine sessions aimed at two specific topics and one technique habit frequently sees the grade move. Cost per hour and cost per outcome are different measurements and this market encourages you to confuse them.

The second half of this page is therefore about waste. Where it happens, why it happens, and the four or five decisions that cause most of it: tuition in too many subjects at once, tuition that starts before anybody has read a marked paper, tuition that continues through a second term without a review, the wrong board, and the wrong tier. None of those is about the tutor's hourly rate and all of them cost more than the rate does.

One thing worth saying before the numbers start. Comparing two quotes in this market is harder than it should be because the two providers are rarely selling the same unit. One is quoting an hour, another a ninety-minute lesson, a third a monthly package of eight sessions, and only one of them is including the time it takes to mark a full past paper properly between lessons. Put every quote into the same unit before you decide, and ask what happens to a prepaid block if the tutor changes.

IB Gram delivers IGCSE tuition to Jumeirah Golf Estates families as one-to-one live video lessons at a fixed weekly time in Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; that is a service we run only in India. Our own fee is quoted after a free trial lesson, because the honest number depends on how many sessions the marked work shows you need.

At a glance

  • Published Dubai rates span AED 45 to AED 650 an hour depending on the band
  • The in-home premium of roughly AED 180 to AED 500 pays for travel, not teaching
  • Cost per grade move matters more than cost per hour
  • Most waste comes from five decisions, none of which is the hourly rate
  • Delivery is live one-to-one video; no tutor visits a UAE address
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Before price comes a question that changes it: which qualification your child is actually sitting. Entering the wrong board's past papers into a revision plan wastes more money than any hourly rate difference, and the tier decision sets a ceiling no amount of tuition can lift.

CIEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

The dominant route in Dubai, with four-digit syllabus codes — 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0654 Coordinated Science, 0500 First Language English. Most mathematics and science subjects split into Core and Extended, with Core capping the available grade at 5. Pricing implication: Extended tuition is additive work on extra topics, so it reasonably costs more sessions than Core support does.

Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, and the February and March series is offered to India only. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone's timetable, so confirm your zone with the school's exams officer rather than with a tutor.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Used by a significant minority of Dubai schools and most private candidates, with codes such as 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology and 4EA1 English Language A. Tiers are Foundation, covering grades 5 to 1, and Higher, covering 9 to 4. Pearson tutors are scarcer in this market than Cambridge ones, which affects availability more than it affects price.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and in November. For a sense of the lead times involved, the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Work from the live official timetable, which Pearson publishes in provisional form well ahead of each series.

RESITAfter the June series

November resit as a private candidate

Often the cheapest route to a required grade, and almost nobody prices it in. Both boards run a November series, so a resit is roughly five months away rather than a year, and entry as a private candidate through an approved Dubai centre is possible. A focused block of eight to twelve sessions aimed at one paper is a smaller spend than a year of general weekly support.

The entry deadline for a November series falls well before the examination and frequently before a family has finished digesting August results, so find the date before results day rather than after. Examination entry fees for a private candidate are a separate cost paid to the centre, not to a tutor, and should be included in any honest budget comparison.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Price per subject varies less than families expect; what varies is the number of sessions each one needs to move. These are the IGCSE subjects most often requested from this part of New Dubai, with a note on what drives the session count.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 · Pearson 4MA1

The most requested subject and often the cheapest to fix, because the losses are habitual rather than conceptual: unrounded intermediate values carried forward, and method lines omitted on four and five-mark questions. Eight to ten sessions is a realistic block for a grade move.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606

Taken in Year 11 ahead of A Level or Diploma Higher Level mathematics. Tutor supply is thin, which lengthens the wait rather than raising the rate, and it introduces calculus and logarithms, so the session count is higher than for 0580.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Electricity decides the grade, and it is where most of the session count goes. Circuit reasoning collapses on unfamiliar diagrams and formula rearrangement fails under time pressure. Expect ten to twelve sessions if electricity and waves are both weak.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles calculations carry disproportionate weight and are rushed; the qualitative analysis ion tests are recall marks routinely left blank. Those two together are often six sessions and a visible grade change, which makes Chemistry one of the better-value blocks.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Content is manageable and the marks are lost on precision of language. Because the fix is linguistic rather than conceptual, Biology often needs fewer sessions than parents expect, and continuing past that point is a common waste.

Coordinated and Combined Science

Cambridge 0654 and 0653

Double or single award for students not taking three separate sciences. A student moved onto this route mid-Year 10 needs the specific gap identified, not the syllabus retaught, and paying for the latter is one of the larger avoidable costs in this market.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Writing marks hinge on text type and register. A student producing an essay where a report was asked for loses marks nobody has explained, and three or four sessions on text types is usually enough to recover them.

First Language English

Cambridge 0500 · Pearson 4EA1

Directed writing, composition and reading response. The reading paper rewards short precise comment on selected evidence; long paraphrase scores badly. This is habit work, and the session count depends entirely on how entrenched the habit is.

Economics

Cambridge 0455

Diagrams must be labelled and then used in the prose. A fully correct diagram the answer never refers to earns almost nothing, which makes this a cheap fix once identified and an expensive one if the tuition starts from the beginning of the syllabus.

Business Studies

Cambridge 0450

Structured questions require application to the case organisation. Generic answers about customers and profit are why a confident student stalls at grade 6, and the correction is a technique block rather than a term of content coverage.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

The format you buy has more effect on the total than the hourly rate does. These three are the ones that make financial sense for an IGCSE student in this community.

Short diagnostic block, four to six sessions

The cheapest useful thing you can buy, and what we recommend first when a report says little beyond that effort is good. It starts from the last marked paper, identifies the specific topics and technique habits at fault, and ends with a written recommendation that may be to stop. Families frequently find the problem is narrower and cheaper than feared.

  • Priced as a block, so the total is known before you start
  • Produces a named list of topics and habits, not a general impression
  • Can convert to a weekly slot without starting over
  • May conclude that no further tuition is needed

Weekly one-to-one with a review point

The standard arrangement, with one addition that this market usually omits: a scheduled review at the next school assessment. If the specific errors the plan targeted have not changed, we change the approach or the tutor. Continuing unchanged into a second term is the most reliable way to spend AED 6,000 on nothing.

  • Fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time with the same tutor
  • A review date set at the start, tied to a school assessment
  • Written notes after each session showing what was covered
  • An agreed stop date, usually study leave or the June series

Small group of two or three

Genuinely cheaper per student and genuinely less effective for diagnosing an individual's recurring error. It works for revision sweeps where two or three students are on the same board, tier and syllabus, which in practice means siblings or classmates. We will advise against it where the problem is individual.

  • Only where board, tier and syllabus genuinely match
  • Better for content coverage than for technique correction
  • Scheduling becomes the binding constraint for everyone
  • Cost per student falls; attention per student falls with it

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah Golf Estates

01

The Dubai rate card, cheapest first, with sources

Here is what the market publishes, ordered from the least expensive upwards, because that is the order a family actually thinks in. Budget online tuition, typically delivered by a university student, is advertised from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour; one platform lists from AED 33 to AED 52 and another from AED 45 to AED 65. A qualified subject tutor working online is advertised at AED 150 to AED 300, with one agency listing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200.

Above that, an in-home one-to-one visit including travel runs from AED 180 to AED 500, with a rate survey putting the band at AED 180 to AED 350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to AED 500. Specialist IGCSE, IB and A-Level provision is quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with one UK-based agency publishing AED 270. The highest figure found anywhere in the research was AED 650 an hour for premium named or examiner-led tuition.

On monthly packages, one provider publishes AED 799 a month for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Independent monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support.

Every figure in this section was read from the provider's or survey's own published page in October 2026. They describe the market, not IB Gram; our fee is quoted after the free trial lesson, when the session count is actually knowable. If a provider quotes you a rate, ask whether it is per hour or per lesson, whether it includes VAT, and what the cancellation terms are, because those three answers change the real number more than the headline does.

What each band actually buys

A rate is not a quality score, and the bands are not simply better versions of each other. They buy different things, and matching the band to the problem is where most of the available saving sits.

The AED 45 to AED 150 band buys supervision, structure and company. The MoHRE permit is available to university students and to school students aged 15 to 18, so this band is entirely legitimate; it is just not the same product. For a Year 9 student who will not start homework unaided, it is excellent value. For a Year 11 Extended-tier Physics candidate eight weeks from the June series, it is money spent on the wrong thing, and the shortfall will not show up until results day.

The AED 150 to AED 300 band buys subject teaching at the right level from somebody who knows the syllabus and can mark against a scheme. For most IGCSE problems this is the correct band, and going above it rarely changes anything. The AED 200 to AED 450 and above specialist band buys paper-level fluency, which matters when a student is already at grade 6 or 7 and the remaining marks are precision rather than content.

The premium band, up to AED 650, buys reputation and scarcity. Sometimes that is justified by genuinely rare expertise. Often the claim attached to it is examiner status, and a claim of current examiner status for a named individual is worth asking for evidence of, since it cannot be verified from a website and nobody should be implying it gives access to marking or boundaries.

Where Jumeirah Golf Estates families waste money

  • Three subjects at once produces attendance without unaided practice time
  • Starting without a marked paper burns the first four sessions on diagnosis
  • An unreviewed weekly slot is the largest avoidable spend in this community
  • The wrong board or the wrong tier cannot be fixed by buying more hours

None of the five big wastes is about the hourly rate, which is why focusing on the rate is itself a mistake. The first is buying tuition in three subjects at once. A student needs unaided practice between sessions and a Dubai timetable plus clubs leaves little room for it, so three weekly slots produce attendance without progress at three times the cost.

The second is starting before anyone has read a marked paper. A tutor given only a subject name begins at the start of the syllabus, which is almost always the wrong place, and the first four sessions get spent discovering what one marked mock would have shown in twenty minutes. The third is the unreviewed weekly slot. Tuition agreed in September is still running in March with nobody having asked whether the targeted errors have gone. That is the single largest avoidable spend in this community.

The fourth is the wrong board. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel are different qualifications; a tutor working from a 0625 scheme of work with a 4PH1 candidate wastes time on topics that are not examined and misses ones that are. The fifth is the wrong tier, which is not a tuition problem at all: a student on Core cannot exceed grade 5, and no number of sessions changes that. If the post-16 plan needs a 7, the conversation is with the school, not with a tutor.

There is a sixth, smaller one worth naming: paying for a result that was going to happen anyway. A student already on an upward line after a bad term does not need a tutor to continue upwards, and nobody in this market will volunteer that. A short diagnostic block will tell you which situation you are in for a fraction of the price of a year.

04

Cost per grade move, not cost per hour

The number that matters is the total spend attached to a change you can see in a school assessment. Run the arithmetic on a few realistic Jumeirah Golf Estates scenarios and the pattern is consistent: targeted short blocks beat open-ended weekly arrangements, and the gap is large.

Take a Year 11 Mathematics student losing marks on method lines and rounding. At a mid-band rate, nine focused sessions is in the region of AED 1,800 and usually produces a visible change at the next assessment, because the errors are habitual. Compare a general weekly arrangement running thirty weeks at the same rate: roughly AED 6,000, often with the same two habits intact in May because nobody ever named them.

Now take a harder case. A Year 11 Physics student weak on both electricity and waves is genuinely twelve sessions of content plus technique, around AED 2,400 at a mid-band rate, and it should be bought as a block with a review point rather than as an indefinite slot. And take the case where tuition is the wrong purchase altogether: a Core-tier student needing a grade 7. No spend fixes that; the tier conversation with the school is free.

The table below lays those out. It is not a price list, because our fee is quoted after the trial lesson; it is a way of asking a provider the right question. Ask what the block costs in total, what change it is aimed at, and when it will be reviewed. A provider who cannot answer the second question is selling hours rather than outcomes.

Hidden extras that catch Dubai parents

  • Per hour or per lesson, and whether a ninety-minute session is priced differently
  • Whether marking between sessions is included or billed separately
  • Cancellation and rescheduling terms, which matter in a club-heavy community
  • What happens to a prepaid block if the tutor changes or leaves

The headline rate is the beginning of the price, not the end of it. Ask whether the figure is per hour or per lesson, because a ninety-minute lesson quoted as a session price is a different number. Ask whether it includes VAT; we limit ourselves to stating whether our own quoted prices include it, because the tax treatment of tuition fees is a Federal Tax Authority question and not something a tutoring page should assert.

Ask about cancellation and rescheduling. In a community where clubs in Dubai Sports City move without notice, a provider charging for a session cancelled with twenty-four hours' notice will cost a family several hundred dirhams a term that never appeared in the comparison. Ask whether marking between sessions is included or billed, because a tutor marking a full past paper properly spends real time on it.

Ask what the word free attaches to. A free trial with a card requirement, a minimum booking or an eligibility condition is a conditional offer, and the condition belongs on the same screen as the word. Ours is a single lesson with the proposed tutor, with no payment required to reach it, and we will say so in writing.

Finally, ask about replacement. If the match is wrong, is a different tutor provided, and at what cost? If a tutor leaves mid-term, what happens to a prepaid block? Those two answers tell you more about a provider than any rate does, and in this market they are rarely published.

06

Tuition cost in context: school fees and the rest of the budget

Tuition is rarely the biggest line in a Dubai education budget, and seeing it next to the others changes how families decide. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. School fees are therefore the stable line this year.

Around that sit costs families often forget when comparing tutors. Examination entry fees for a private candidate are paid to the centre, not the tutor. Transport to a tuition centre in Motor City or Al Barsha has a fuel and time cost that an in-home or online comparison usually omits. And a resit entry in the November series is a real budget item that is cheaper than a year of general support and almost never mentioned at the point of sale.

The context also matters for scale. Dubai's private sector served 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools and 16,846 places, after six opened in 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6 per cent. More supply tends to moderate prices over time, including in tuition.

The table puts the pieces in one place so you can see which parts you control. Read it before you compare two tutors, because the lines you cannot change should not be the ones absorbing your attention, and the two that you can change — the format you buy and the number of sessions you commit to — are both settled in a single conversation at the start.

Why the cheapest legal tutor is still legal

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free, valid two years, and open to students
  • A very low rate usually signals tutor category, not illegality
  • Tutoring without any permit carries fines and penalties; no amounts are published
  • No individual tutor holds a KHDA licence, because that permit covers premises

It is tempting to assume that a very low rate signals someone operating outside the rules. Usually it does not, and understanding why makes the rate card easier to read. Private tutoring in the UAE sits under a private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by MoHRE, granted free of charge for two years.

The permit's eligible categories explicitly include university students and school students aged 15 to 18, alongside registered school teachers and government and private-sector employees. MoHRE's own service listing for issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services. So a permitted eighteen-year-old charging AED 60 an hour is entirely within the rules. The question is not legality; it is fit.

What is not permitted is tutoring without the permit at all: individuals doing so are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so no figure can be quoted honestly and we do not quote one. Separately, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff in Abu Dhabi from paid private tuition of students at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction, which is press-reported and worth verifying against the current ADEK policy document.

One more thing to be clear about. A tutoring business with premises in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute. IB Gram holds no such permit, runs no UAE office or centre, and is not accredited, licensed, approved by or partnered with KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB.

08

What we will not sell you

  • No guaranteed grades, scores or money-back improvement promises
  • No written, rewritten or completed coursework, at any price
  • No redistributed past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables
  • No statistic published without a sample size, a date and a method

A page about cost should be explicit about what it refuses to charge for. We do not sell guaranteed outcomes, and we do not publish guaranteed grade improvements or money-back score promises. Nobody can honestly offer them, and in this market they are the clearest signal to look elsewhere.

We do not sell completed coursework. A tutor teaches the content, explains what each assessment criterion rewards, interrogates a plan, marks a draft against the criteria and teaches referencing. A tutor does not write, rewrite or complete any part of the work. One operator in this market was found advertising completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; that is malpractice and the consequence falls on the student.

We do not sell past paper and mark scheme bundles. Reproducing or redistributing IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables is not ours to do; tutors reference them and link to the official source. And we do not sell a tutor's examiner status as a product, because current examiner status for an individual cannot be evidenced from a website and should never be implied to give access to marking or boundaries.

Finally, we do not publish a statistic we cannot support. No satisfaction percentage without a sample size, a date and a method; no self-asserted star rating; no median tutor score. Several providers in this market publish two different review figures on the same page, which is a good reason to treat all of them as decoration rather than data.

Where we tutor

What families nearby pay, and why it varies

Rates in Dubai are set less by neighbourhood than by format and tutor category, but the communities around Jumeirah Golf Estates do differ in what they tend to buy. These are the patterns we see.

Jumeirah Park

Short drive, so in-home arrangements are more common here than in the golf communities. Families often discover the travel premium only when comparing an itemised online quote against an unitemised in-home one.

Dubai Sports City

Dense and apartment-heavy, with more use of the AED 45 to AED 150 budget band. Reasonable for Year 9 homework structure, consistently insufficient for a Year 11 Extended-tier science.

Motor City

Large British-curriculum intake and a strong market for small group tuition at tuition centres, where cost per student falls and attention per student falls with it.

Al Barsha South and JVT

The most price-competitive pocket near this community, because supply is denser. It is also where the widest spread of quality sits inside the same rate band.

The Springs and The Meadows

Established families, longer tuition relationships, and the highest incidence of the specific waste this page is about: a weekly slot that has run for two years without a review.

Emirates Hills

More demand for the premium and examiner-led bands, where published rates reach AED 650 an hour. Worth asking what evidence supports an examiner claim before paying for it.

Arabian Ranches

Mixed curriculum intake, so quotes here often cover both IGCSE and Diploma siblings. Bundling across two different qualifications with one tutor is a frequent false economy.

Dubai Marina and JLT

Apartment living and more single-subject, short-block buying. Also the area where non-UAE phone numbers in search results send the most enquiries, which is worth checking before paying a deposit.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Jumeirah Park, Sports City and Motor City

The immediate British-curriculum cluster, where most Jumeirah Golf Estates IGCSE students sit. Fee levels and finish times vary across these campuses, and so does the amount of in-school support offered before a family needs to buy any, which is the first thing worth checking.

Find the syllabus code on the last report or entry confirmation, and confirm whether the entry is Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher. Both answers change the price of the project: the wrong board wastes sessions, and a tier ceiling cannot be bought past at any rate.

  2. 02

Send the marked work before asking for a quote

A marked mock or a report with the subject teacher's comment lets a tutor name the specific errors, which is what determines the session count. Any provider quoting a term of weekly tuition before seeing a marked paper is pricing a guess, and you will be paying for the first four sessions of diagnosis.

  3. 03

Ask for a block total, not an hourly rate

The useful question is what the whole thing costs and what change it is aimed at. Ask for the number of sessions, the total, the specific errors being targeted and the date it will be reviewed. A provider who cannot answer the last two is selling hours rather than an outcome.

  4. 04

Use the free trial, then decide

You and your child meet the proposed tutor over live video and hand them a question that was actually lost. Afterwards you get their read on the problem, a proposed session count and the fee. No payment is required to reach this point, and no condition is attached to the trial.

  5. 05

Set the review date and the stop date

Book the block, put the review in the calendar against the next school assessment, and agree when the arrangement ends. If the targeted errors have not changed by the review, we change the approach or the tutor. This single step prevents the largest avoidable spend in this market.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We publish the numbers

Three of the six best-ranking pages in this market publish no price at all, and two of the others quote in US dollars. Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider or survey that published it, with the research date given, so you can check it rather than take it on trust.

Priced after the diagnosis, not before

Our fee is quoted once the marked work has been read and a session count is actually knowable. That is slower than a rate card and it is the only honest way to answer what it will cost, because the answer depends on whether the problem is two habits or two topics.

A review date is part of the arrangement

Every block carries a scheduled review against the next school assessment. If the specific errors targeted have not changed, we change the approach or the tutor. The unreviewed weekly slot is how families here spend thousands without a measurable result.

We will tell you to stop

Sometimes four diagnostic sessions are enough. Sometimes the right move is a tier conversation with the school, which costs nothing. Sometimes a student already improving does not need a tutor to continue improving. Saying so loses us bookings and is the reason the ones we take tend to work.

Online delivery, stated before you pay

Lessons are live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram makes no home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. You read it here rather than discovering it after an invoice, and no UAE enquiry is routed to a non-UAE phone number.

No claims we cannot evidence

No guaranteed grades, no satisfaction percentages without a sample size and method, no self-asserted star ratings, and no examiner status presented as a product. In a market where two different review figures appear on the same page, the absence of these claims is information.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Golf Estates: your questions answered

How much does an IGCSE tutor cost for a family in Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Cheapest first: budget online tuition, usually a university student, is advertised in Dubai from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, roughly AED 240 to AED 600 a month for one weekly session. A qualified subject tutor online sits at AED 150 to AED 300, or about AED 600 to AED 1,200 monthly. In-home visits including travel run AED 180 to AED 500. Specialist provision is quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and the highest published figure found was AED 650. Those are market rates researched in October 2026, not IB Gram's prices, which are quoted after the free trial.

Why will nobody in Dubai publish a tutoring price?+

Because not publishing one is commercially useful. Research across sixty-odd competitor pages in October 2026 found three of the six best-ranking pages publishing no figure at all, and the two that did quoting in US dollars rather than dirhams. One agency's own FAQ section asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer. A rate you cannot see is a rate you cannot compare, which is the point. Ask any provider for the block total, whether the figure is per hour or per lesson, whether marking is included, and what the cancellation terms are.

Is the cheapest tutor in Dubai actually allowed to teach?+

Usually yes. The UAE private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by MoHRE, is granted free of charge for two years, and its eligible categories explicitly include university students and school students aged 15 to 18 alongside registered teachers and employees. So a permitted eighteen-year-old charging AED 60 an hour is within the rules. The question is fit rather than legality: that band buys supervision and structure, which suits a Year 9 organisation problem and does not suit a Year 11 Extended-tier science.

What is the single biggest way families here waste tuition money?+

The unreviewed weekly slot. Tuition agreed in September is still running in March, with nobody having asked whether the specific errors it was meant to fix have gone. At a mid-band rate, thirty weeks is roughly AED 6,000, and families frequently reach May with the same two habits intact because nobody ever named them. The fix costs nothing: set a review date against the next school assessment at the start, and if the targeted errors have not changed, change the approach or the tutor rather than continuing.

Is it cheaper to use an online platform or a home tutor in this part of Dubai?+

Online, and by a clear margin on published rates. A qualified subject tutor online is advertised at AED 150 to AED 300 an hour against AED 180 to AED 500 for an in-home visit including travel, and one provider publishes AED 799 a month for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. The difference pays for a car journey, not for extra teaching. For a primary-age child the in-person advantages are real; from Year 10 the tutor's syllabus knowledge matters far more than the room.

How many sessions does an IGCSE grade move actually take?+

It depends entirely on whether the problem is habits or content. Habit errors — rounding intermediate values, omitting method lines, paraphrasing instead of selecting evidence — often move in eight to ten sessions. Two weak content topics, such as electricity and waves in Physics, is realistically twelve. Two high-weight topics in Chemistry, like moles and the ion tests, can be six. A good provider will name the number before you start and tie it to a review point. One who proposes an open-ended weekly slot has not diagnosed anything yet.

Should I assume a Dubai tutoring quote already includes VAT?+

Ask, and ask specifically. We limit ourselves to stating whether our own quoted prices include VAT, because the tax treatment of tuition fees in the UAE is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority and not something a tutoring page should assert as fact. The wider point is that the headline rate is the start of the price. Also establish whether the figure is per hour or per lesson, whether marking a full past paper between sessions is included or billed, and what notice is required to cancel without charge.

Can tuition in two subjects at once ever make sense?+

Occasionally, and three almost never. The constraint is not money but your child's week: a subject needs unaided practice between sessions, because the unassisted attempt is where the learning happens. With a full Dubai timetable plus clubs in Dubai Sports City, three weekly slots produce attendance without progress at three times the cost. If three subjects look weak, start with the one that most affects the post-16 plan and run a short diagnostic block. The technique fixes often transfer, because the underlying error is frequently about reading questions.

Does a small group save enough to justify the lost attention?+

Cost per student falls and attention per student falls with it, so it depends on the problem. A group of two or three works for revision sweeps where everyone is on the same board, tier and syllabus, which in practice means siblings or classmates. It does not work for diagnosing an individual's recurring error, which is the thing most IGCSE students actually need. Scheduling also becomes the binding constraint for every family involved. We will advise against a group where one-to-one is clearly the right purchase.

Would a November resit cost less than a year of weekly tuition?+

Frequently, yes, and almost nobody prices it in. Both Cambridge and Pearson run a November series, so a resit sits roughly five months after June rather than a year, and private candidate entry through an approved Dubai centre is possible. A focused block of eight to twelve sessions aimed at one paper is a smaller total than thirty weeks of general support. Two cautions: the November entry deadline falls well before the exam, often before results have settled, and the entry fee is paid to the centre rather than to a tutor.

What should I check about cancellations before booking a block?+

Four things. What notice is required to cancel without charge; whether a rescheduled session can be moved within the same week; whether a prepaid block expires; and what happens if the tutor leaves mid-block. In a community where clubs move without warning, a provider charging for sessions cancelled with twenty-four hours' notice will cost several hundred dirhams a term that never appeared in your comparison. These answers tell you more about a provider than the hourly rate does, and they are rarely published.

How do school fees and tuition compare in a Dubai budget?+

School fees are much larger and, this year, stable: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for 2026-27, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Against that, a weekly mid-band tuition slot is published at roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month. Tuition is the part of the budget you control, which is why a block total with a review date is a better purchase than an open-ended monthly commitment.

Will a tutor write or finish my child's coursework if I pay more?+

No, at any price. A tutor teaches the content, explains what the assessment criteria reward, interrogates a plan, points out where a method will not generate usable data, marks a draft against the criteria and teaches referencing. A tutor does not write, rewrite, complete or supply any part of the work. One operator in this market was found advertising completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; buying one is academic malpractice and the consequence falls on the student, not on the seller. Our tutors decline these requests.

What if the tutor turns out to be wrong for my child?+

We change them, and you should ask any provider what their answer to this is before paying. Our position is that a wrong match on personality or pace is our problem rather than yours, so a different tutor is proposed without argument and without a new joining cost. If no appropriate board-specific specialist is free in your windows, you are told the realistic wait instead, and where the available tutor is based outside the UAE you are told that before any payment is taken.

Ask for the block total and the review date

If you remember two things from this page, make them these. Ask what the whole block costs, not what an hour costs. And ask when it will be reviewed against a school assessment, because an unreviewed weekly slot is how families around Jumeirah Golf Estates spend several thousand dirhams without a result they can point to. Send us the syllabus code, the last marked paper and two realistic evening windows. You will get a proposed specialist, a free trial lesson over live video, a session count and a fee. No home visits in the UAE, no guaranteed grades, and no figure here that is not attributed.
