IB Physics Tutor in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Physics is the subject that suffers most from being taught at the wrong hour, which makes an IB physics tutor in Jumeirah Golf Estates a scheduling problem before it is a teaching one. This page works from the school day outwards: what the papers carry, what the investigation needs, and when a Jumeirah Golf Estates student can still think. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video and sends no tutors to UAE addresses.

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Physics at 5pm after a Dubai school day is a waste of a session

Physics is the least forgiving Diploma subject to teach to a tired student. It requires holding a model in mind, applying mathematics to it, and tracking units and directions at the same time. A fourteen or seventeen-year-old who left Jumeirah Golf Estates at seven in the morning, sat through a full timetable, queued at the Jumeirah Park gate, drove back through the Al Khail junction and then went to training in Dubai Sports City cannot do that at five o'clock. They can do it at seven.

That is why this page starts with the clock rather than the syllabus. The arithmetic for this community is consistent: campus finish between 2.45pm and 3.30pm, ten to twenty minutes of gate queue, twelve to thirty-five minutes of driving depending on whether the school sits in Al Barsha South or out towards Arabian Ranches, then twenty minutes before a teenager is capable of anything. Add a club and the usable window starts after six. A physics session placed earlier than that is bought at full price and delivered at half capacity.

The second thing the school day does to physics is practical access. The scientific investigation is worth 20 per cent of the grade and is built on data the student collects, usually in the school laboratory on a timetable the school controls. That constrains when outside support is useful: the valuable work happens at the design stage, before the data exists, and then again at the analysis stage once it does. In between, there is nothing a tutor can usefully add.

The third is mathematics. Physics at Higher Level assumes manipulation that many students are learning simultaneously in Mathematics, and the ones who struggle with physics are frequently struggling with rearranging an equation rather than with the physics. Diagnosing which it is takes one marked paper and it changes the whole plan, because the fix for one is nothing like the fix for the other.

There is a fourth thing worth naming, which is scarcity. Physics teachers who have taught the Diploma to examination standard are thin on the ground in any school system, and the catchment of one gated community of a few thousand households is very unlikely to contain one who is also free at the single hour your child can work. That is arithmetic rather than a complaint about the neighbourhood, and it is the reason we match by level and theme rather than by distance.

IB Gram teaches Jumeirah Golf Estates students one-to-one over live video at a fixed weekly time in Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-person home tutoring is an India-only service. The scheduling advantage is the point: with no travel on the tutor's side, the session can sit in the only part of the evening where physics actually works.

At a glance

  • Weekday physics sessions in this community work between 6.30pm and 8.15pm
  • The scientific investigation is 20 per cent of the grade and 24 marks across four criteria
  • Paper 1B data analysis is a distinct skill from Paper 2 content
  • Many physics problems are actually algebra problems in disguise
  • Lessons are live one-to-one video; no tutor visits a UAE address
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Physics reaches a Jumeirah Golf Estates student through three stages, and the handover between the second and third is where most of the damage is done. Knowing which stage you are in determines what a session should contain.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme Physics

Organised around five themes covering space, time and motion, the particulate nature of matter, wave behaviour, fields, and nuclear and quantum physics, with additional Higher Level content in each. Assessment combines two papers with an internally assessed scientific investigation. Confirm the current structure and weightings against your school's subject guide, because science guides are periodically revised and the one your child sits matters more than any general description.

UAE schools sit the May session. We publish no IB examination or results dates here, because ibo.org blocks automated verification; take yours from your school's IB coordinator. What matters locally is the school's own investigation deadline, which sits months ahead of the papers and which determines when outside support is worth buying.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme Sciences

Assessed against four criteria rather than examined, with physics taught either as integrated science or as a separate discipline depending on the school and year group. Students arrive into the Diploma with good inquiry skills and, often, weaker quantitative fluency, because the criteria model rewards process more visibly than it rewards algebraic manipulation.

Schools around Jumeirah Golf Estates split between the Middle Years Programme and Cambridge IGCSE at this age. A student arriving into Diploma Physics from Cambridge 0625 has usually met more calculation; a student arriving from the Middle Years Programme has usually met more investigation design. Both gaps are real and they are different.

PRE-DPAge 15-16 · Year 11 into Year 12

The Year 11 to Physics Higher Level handover

The cheapest intervention in the subject and the one nobody sells. Students entering Physics Higher Level need confident equation rearrangement, standard form, unit manipulation and basic trigonometry on day one. Four to six sessions in the summer before Year 12 on those skills alone prevents a large proportion of the Year 13 repair work we are asked for.

If your child is taking Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 in Year 11, much of this gap closes by itself, which is another argument for that option where the school offers it. Where it does not, a short pre-Diploma skills block is the highest-return purchase available in physics.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Physics divides into parts that behave very differently under examination conditions. These are the ones tuition is actually bought for around Jumeirah Golf Estates, with a note on how each one fails.

Kinematics and dynamics

SL and HL

Motion graphs, Newton's laws, momentum and impulse. The characteristic error is direction: a student treats velocity as a number, loses the sign convention, and produces an answer of the right magnitude pointing the wrong way. Marks go for the vector nature, not the arithmetic.

Work, energy and power

SL and HL

Energy transfers, efficiency and conservation arguments. Students lose marks by writing numbers without naming the energy stores involved, which is what the extended-response mark scheme actually asks for. Three sessions usually corrects the habit permanently.

Thermal physics and the particulate model

SL and HL

Specific heat capacity, latent heat, the gas laws and the kinetic model. A reliable source of lost marks because explanations are given in terms of temperature where the mark scheme wants particle behaviour and mean kinetic energy.

Wave behaviour

SL and HL

Superposition, standing waves, interference, diffraction and the Doppler effect. Standing waves on strings and in pipes are the single most commonly muddled topic in the theme, and they are efficient to tutor because the rules are finite and diagrammatic.

Fields

SL and HL, with substantial HL extension

Gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, circuits, electromagnetic induction and, at Higher Level, orbital motion and field potential. The heaviest Higher Level theme and where most of the session count goes. Circuits in particular collapse when the diagram is unfamiliar rather than when the theory is missing.

Nuclear and quantum physics

SL and HL

Radioactive decay, binding energy, the photoelectric effect and, at Higher Level, quantum phenomena. Content-dense and self-contained, which makes it one of the more efficient topics to tutor: four or five focused sessions and it is usually secure.

Data analysis and uncertainties

SL and HL, assessed in Paper 1B

Gradients from graphs, error bars, propagation of uncertainty and linearising a relationship. Assessed as its own skill and taught unevenly in schools, which makes it one of the highest-return things a tutor can work on. Two or three sessions is often worth a grade boundary.

Experimental technique and the investigation

SL and HL, 20 per cent of the grade

Research design, control of variables, data collection and evaluation, marked out of 24 across four criteria. The valuable support is at the design stage before any data exists, and then on analysis once it does, always as feedback on the student's own work.

Mathematical fluency for physics

SL and HL

Rearranging equations, standard form, significant figures, unit conversion and trigonometry in resolution of vectors. Not a syllabus topic and frequently the real problem. A marked paper shows it immediately: the physics reasoning is sound and the algebra fails.

Extended response technique

SL and HL, Paper 2

Structuring a multi-mark explanation so each mark-scheme point is clearly made in order. Students who know the physics still lose marks by writing a paragraph in which three correct ideas are tangled together and only one is creditable.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Physics support takes three useful shapes, and the right one depends on where the student is in the two-year course rather than on how worried the household is.

Weekly one-to-one across a theme

The standard arrangement for a student working through fields or wave behaviour, sequenced against the school's teaching order so each session lands on content taught that week. Past-paper questions on that theme between lessons, marked and returned, so the next session starts from evidence.

  • Same tutor, same slot in Gulf Standard Time each week
  • Follows the school's teaching order rather than a textbook
  • Theme-specific past-paper questions marked between sessions
  • Written notes afterwards so you can see what was covered

Data analysis and uncertainties block

Two or three sessions on the skill assessed in Paper 1B: gradients, error bars, uncertainty propagation and linearising relationships. Taught unevenly in schools and worth a grade boundary to a student who has been guessing at it. Short, cheap and one of the best returns in the subject.

  • Graph work from real past-paper data sets
  • Uncertainty propagation taught as a procedure, not a formula sheet
  • Linearising relationships, which recurs in both papers and the investigation
  • Finishes in two or three sessions rather than running on

Investigation design and analysis support

Timed around the school's own deadlines: a block before the data is collected, to interrogate the research question and the control of variables, and a second block after collection on analysis and evaluation. The tutor gives feedback on the student's own work and never writes, rewrites or completes any part of it.

  • Research question tested for feasibility before lab time is used
  • Variable control and method checked against the design criterion
  • Feedback mapped to the four criteria by letter
  • A dated record of what was advised, which protects the student

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah Golf Estates

01

The usable hour, worked out properly

Start from the campus, not from the calendar. Secondary finish times across the schools Jumeirah Golf Estates families use for Diploma physics run from about 2.45pm to 3.30pm. The gate queue costs ten to twenty minutes before a car moves. The drive is twelve to twenty minutes from the JVT and Al Barsha South ring, twenty to thirty from Arabian Ranches, and thirty to thirty-five from Al Sufouh.

That puts most students home between 4.10pm and 4.45pm. Add the twenty minutes a teenager needs to stop being a passenger and start being a student, and the earliest honest start is 5.15pm. For the substantial proportion of children in this community who train in Dubai Sports City, that start moves to 7pm or later. None of this is unusual; it is simply rarely written down before a weekly slot gets agreed.

Physics makes the timing matter more than other subjects. Mathematics tolerates a tired student better, because a familiar procedure can be executed on autopilot. Physics cannot: a student has to hold a physical model, apply mathematics to it and track units and vector directions simultaneously. Done at 5pm after a long day in Dubai heat, the same forty minutes produces visibly less.

The sensible plan for a Jumeirah Golf Estates physics student is a weekday slot between 6.30pm and 8.15pm, after a first attempt at the school's problem set, plus a weekend morning when a full timed paper is needed. The table gives the arithmetic by cluster so you can pick from your own row rather than from an optimistic guess.

What the physics papers carry

Revision is usually spread evenly, and the assessment structure says it should not be. Physics is assessed through two written papers plus the internally assessed scientific investigation, which contributes 20 per cent of the grade. Paper 1 divides into a multiple-choice section and a data-analysis section, and Paper 2 carries the extended structured questions. Confirm the exact weightings for your child's cohort with the school's subject guide, because science assessment models are periodically revised.

Two things follow immediately. The data-analysis section is a distinct skill with its own marks, and it is taught unevenly across schools because it falls between the physics and the mathematics departments. A student who has never been shown how to propagate an uncertainty or how to linearise a relationship is guessing at those marks, and two or three sessions fixes it. That is the cheapest available grade movement in the subject.

The second is that the extended-response marks on Paper 2 are structural as much as conceptual. A mark scheme lists discrete points, and a student who writes a flowing paragraph containing three correct ideas tangled together frequently earns one mark rather than three. Teaching a student to make one point per sentence, in the order the question implies, is technique work that transfers across every theme.

A practical note on the multiple-choice section: it rewards elimination and unit reasoning rather than full calculation, and students burn time doing complete algebra on questions that could be answered by checking which option has plausible units. Timed practice is the only way to build that, which is another argument for the weekend morning slot.

03

The scientific investigation: 24 marks across four criteria

The internally assessed investigation is worth 20 per cent of the physics grade and is marked out of 24 across four criteria covering research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Confirm the current criteria and allocations with your school, since the science guides were restructured relatively recently and schools work from the version their cohort sits.

The structure tells you where the help is worth buying. The research design criterion is decided before a single measurement is taken, which means the most valuable conversation happens weeks before the laboratory session. A question that cannot generate enough data points, or where a variable cannot genuinely be controlled, produces a capped mark no amount of later writing recovers. Three sessions at that stage is a small block with a large effect.

The evaluation criterion is where otherwise strong students lose marks, because it asks for honest limitation of the method rather than a list of generic improvements. Writing that more repeats would have helped earns little; identifying that the timing method introduced a systematic error of a particular size, and saying what that does to the conclusion, earns a great deal. That is a taught skill.

The boundary matters here as much as anywhere in the Diploma. A tutor may question the research design, point out that a method will not produce analysable data, explain what each criterion rewards, mark a draft against the criteria and teach referencing and uncertainty convention. A tutor may not write any part of the report, rewrite the student's prose, supply a research question as a finished product, provide data the student has not collected, or edit a draft to completion. Our tutors decline requests that cross it, and one operator in this market was found selling completed Internal Assessments outright, which is malpractice with consequences that fall on the student.

Is it physics, or is it algebra?

  • A blank or wrong starting equation points to physics reasoning
  • A right equation and a failed rearrangement points to algebra
  • Higher Level fields and quantum content assume comfortable manipulation
  • A mathematical fluency block often beats more physics teaching

This is the most useful diagnostic question in the subject and it is answered in twenty minutes by a marked paper. A substantial proportion of students described as weak at physics have intact physical reasoning and failing mathematics. They know that the component of weight along the slope is what accelerates the block, and then they cannot rearrange the resulting expression under time pressure.

The signature is visible in the script. Physics-reasoning weakness looks like a blank or a wrong starting equation. Mathematical weakness looks like the correct starting equation followed by an algebraic slip, a unit left unconverted, or a rearrangement done in the wrong order. The second pattern is cheaper to fix and the fix transfers immediately to Mathematics as well.

At Higher Level the overlap is larger still. Fields, orbital motion and quantum phenomena all assume comfortable manipulation of indices, logarithms and trigonometric resolution, and a student taking Applications and Interpretation rather than Analysis and Approaches may not meet some of that elsewhere. Where that is the case, a short mathematical-fluency block before the fields theme is better value than more physics teaching during it.

The practical instruction for a Jumeirah Golf Estates parent is therefore simple: send the marked paper before asking for a quote, and ask the prospective tutor which of the two patterns they see. A specialist will tell you, with examples from the script. Somebody who starts at the beginning of the syllabus has not looked.

05

Where physics marks are actually lost

  • Missing or wrong units, and significant figures copied from the calculator
  • Vectors treated as numbers, losing the direction mark
  • Experiments described without naming the controlled variable
  • Explanations given in the wrong vocabulary for the mark scheme

Units first. A numerically correct answer with a missing or wrong unit loses the mark, and in a paper of thirty such answers that is a grade boundary's worth of marks for a reason that has nothing to do with physics. Significant figures behave the same way: an answer quoted to six figures from data given to two is marked down, and students do it constantly because the calculator offers it.

Direction next. Velocity, force, momentum and field strength are vectors, and a question that asks for a value expects the direction stated or the sign convention honoured. Students treat them as numbers and lose the vector mark while getting the magnitude right.

Then the controlled variable. In data-analysis and investigation contexts, a student describing an experiment without naming what was held constant loses marks that are explicitly available for it. It is a sentence, and it is missing from most first drafts.

And finally language precision in explanations. Thermal physics answers that explain in terms of temperature rather than particle behaviour and mean kinetic energy, energy answers that do not name the stores involved, and wave answers that describe interference without reference to path difference. Each of these is a specific, fixable sentence habit, and each is visible on a marked Paper 2. Between them they account for more lost marks in this subject than any genuine conceptual gap.

The encouraging consequence is that the repair work is short. None of these four requires new content to be learned, and a student who has them all is usually two or three sessions from not having them, provided somebody reads the script rather than restarting the syllabus.

What physics tuition costs around Jumeirah Golf Estates

Published rates in Dubai for a qualified subject tutor working online run roughly AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, and specialist IB, IGCSE and A-Level provision is quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with one UK-based agency publishing AED 270. Budget online tuition, typically delivered by a university student, is advertised from AED 45 to AED 150, one platform listing from AED 33 to AED 52. Premium named or examiner-led provision is quoted as high as AED 650 an hour.

For physics in particular, the budget band is a poor fit. Supervision and encouragement do not resolve a fields problem or an uncertainty propagation, and the shortfall will not be visible until a mock. The specialist band is where the subject sits, and the useful thing to compare is not the rate but the block: two or three sessions for data analysis, four or five for nuclear and quantum, ten to fourteen for Higher Level fields taught properly.

In-home visits in Dubai are advertised at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel, with one provider publishing AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions against AED 799 for eight online sessions. For physics the in-home premium is particularly hard to justify, because the thing that helps most is a shared screen with a graph being built and annotated, which video does better than a notebook.

All of those figures were read from the providers' own pages in October 2026 and describe the market rather than IB Gram. Our own fee is quoted after the free trial lesson, once a marked paper has established whether this is a three-session data-analysis job or a two-term fields programme.

Laboratory access and what a tutor cannot replace

  • The school laboratory is irreplaceable for developing measurement sense
  • Design interrogation before lab time saves a rationed school resource
  • Data analysis works better on a shared screen than on paper
  • Official papers and mark schemes are linked, never redistributed

Physics is a practical subject and online tuition does not change that. The school laboratory is where the investigation data is collected, and it is where a student develops a feel for what a measurement actually looks like: the parallax on a metre rule, the way a stopwatch reaction time dwarfs a short interval, the drift on a thermometer. Nothing delivered over video substitutes for that, and we would not claim otherwise.

What video does well is the part either side. Before the laboratory session, a tutor can interrogate a research design, estimate whether the expected range of readings is measurable with the equipment available, and spot that a variable cannot in practice be controlled. That conversation saves laboratory time, which in a Dubai school is a rationed resource.

After the session, a tutor can work through the raw data on a shared screen: plotting it, considering whether a straight-line form exists, propagating the uncertainties, and testing whether the conclusion the student wants to draw is actually supported. That work is better done on a shared screen than on paper, because both people see the same graph being built and annotated in real time.

The one thing to be clear about is materials. We do not reproduce or distribute IB syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides as downloads; tutors reference them and link to the official source. A provider offering a complete folder of everything is describing something they should not be doing, and it is a reasonable signal about the rest of their practice.

Who is permitted to teach physics privately in the UAE

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • Never engage your child's own physics teacher as a paid private tutor
  • No individual tutor holds a KHDA licence; that permit covers premises
  • We make no examiner claims, because they cannot be evidenced publicly

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The permit is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own listing for issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system.

Eligible categories include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so no figure can honestly be quoted and we do not quote one.

One boundary applies directly to physics, where the pool of qualified teachers in any emirate is small and parents sometimes approach the school. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction. That is press-reported and should be verified against the current ADEK policy document before being relied on as exact wording. The practical rule stands regardless: do not engage your child's own physics teacher privately.

Finally, what nobody is approved for. A tutoring business with premises in Dubai needs an Educational Services Permit for a training institute from KHDA. IB Gram holds no such permit, has no UAE office or centre, and is not accredited, licensed, approved by or partnered with KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. Nor do we describe any tutor as a current examiner, because that status cannot be evidenced from a website and should never be implied to confer access to marking or boundaries.

Where we tutor

The school runs that set the physics timetable

Physics sessions are scheduled around the drive, not around the tutor. These are the runs Jumeirah Golf Estates families make and what each one leaves of the evening.

Al Barsha South

Fifteen to twenty-five minutes via Hessa Street or the Al Khail junction, and the nearest Diploma science provision. Arrival home around 4.30pm, which makes 6.30pm or 7.15pm the physics slot.

JVT and JVC

Twelve to twenty minutes, with the interchange rather than the distance as the variable. A 6pm physics session is realistic from this run if there is no club afterwards.

The Meadows

Twenty minutes east, adjacent to continuum provision. Arrival clusters around 4.20pm, so a 6pm start works and leaves the evening intact.

Arabian Ranches

Twenty to thirty minutes and the longest regular run from here. Weekend mornings suit this household better than weekday evenings for timed paper work.

Emirates Hills

Short drive, slow exit. The fifteen extra minutes the afternoon leg costs is exactly the margin that decides whether a 6.15pm session is comfortable or rushed.

Al Sufouh

Thirty to thirty-five minutes along Al Khail or Sheikh Zayed Road. A Diploma student on this run is rarely settled before 4.45pm, which pushes physics to 7.15pm.

Dubai Sports City

Adjacent to Jumeirah Golf Estates and the reason so many sessions here start at seven. Academy training occupies the hour that looks free on a school timetable.

Motor City

Ten to fifteen minutes along Hessa Street. Finish times here differ from the Jumeirah Park campuses by nearly an hour, which is why neighbours need different slots.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the level and the theme

Physics Higher Level fields and Standard Level wave behaviour are different jobs. Give us the level, the theme currently being taught, and the year group. If the problem is the investigation rather than the content, say so, because that changes the timing of the whole block to fit the school's laboratory schedule.

  2. 02

    Send one marked paper

A marked mock settles the question this subject turns on: whether the losses are physics reasoning, algebraic manipulation, units and significant figures, or data-analysis technique. Those four have different fixes and different session counts, and the script shows which it is in twenty minutes.

  3. 03

Give us the real finish time

Tell us the campus, the finish time, the drive and whether there is training in Dubai Sports City. Physics is the subject where a session placed too early is bought at full price and delivered at half capacity, so we would rather schedule at 7.15pm than at five.

  4. 04

Use the free trial on a lost question

You and your child meet the proposed specialist over live video. Hand them a question from the mock that was lost. Afterwards you get their read on which of the four failure patterns is operating, a session count and the fee, and you decide. No payment is needed to reach that point.

  5. 05

Time the investigation blocks around the school

Book the design block before the laboratory session and the analysis block after it, rather than one continuous arrangement. The design conversation is worth most before any data exists, and there is genuinely nothing useful a tutor can add in the weeks while measurements are being taken.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Scheduled where physics still works

This subject needs a student who can hold a model, apply mathematics and track units at once, and a Jumeirah Golf Estates child cannot do that at five o'clock after a full day and a drive. We schedule at 6.30pm or later for that reason, and online delivery is what makes the later slot possible at all.

Data analysis treated as its own skill

Paper 1 assesses data analysis separately, schools teach it unevenly because it falls between departments, and two or three sessions on uncertainties and linearising is frequently the cheapest grade movement available. We propose that block explicitly rather than folding it into general content teaching.

We diagnose algebra against physics first

A large share of physics problems are mathematical manipulation problems wearing a physics costume, and the two have different fixes. One marked paper distinguishes them, which is why we ask for the script before quoting a session count instead of starting at the beginning of the syllabus.

Investigation support timed to the school

The valuable help is before data collection and after it, not during. We book two short blocks around the school's own laboratory schedule rather than selling a continuous arrangement, because the design criterion is settled before a single measurement is taken.

Online delivery, stated before booking

Lessons are live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram makes no home visits in the UAE; in-person home tutoring exists only in our India service. For physics specifically the shared screen is an advantage, because a graph is built and annotated where both people can see it.

No examiner claims and no guarantees

We do not describe tutors as current IB examiners, because that cannot be evidenced from a website and should never imply access to marking or boundaries. No guaranteed grades, no satisfaction statistics without a sample size and method, and no AED figure here that is not credited to its published source.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Golf Estates: your questions answered

What time should a physics session run for a Jumeirah Golf Estates student?+

Between 6.30pm and 8.15pm on weekdays, and later if there is training. Work your own row: campus finish between 2.45pm and 3.30pm, ten to twenty minutes of gate queue, twelve to thirty-five minutes of driving depending on whether the school is in JVT or out at Al Sufouh, then twenty minutes before a teenager can think. Physics tolerates tiredness worse than any other Diploma subject, because it requires holding a model, applying mathematics and tracking units at the same time. Weekend mornings suit full timed papers.

Is my child's physics problem actually a maths problem?+

Often, and one marked paper settles it. Physics-reasoning weakness looks like a blank page or a wrong starting equation. Mathematical weakness looks like the correct starting equation followed by an algebraic slip, an unconverted unit, or a rearrangement done in the wrong order. The second pattern is cheaper to fix and the fix transfers straight into Mathematics. At Higher Level the overlap is larger, since fields and quantum content assume comfortable work with indices, logarithms and trigonometric resolution of vectors.

How is the IB physics investigation marked?+

It is worth 20 per cent of the grade and marked out of 24 across four criteria covering research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Confirm the current criteria with your school, since the science guides were restructured relatively recently. The structure matters because the design criterion is settled before a single measurement is taken: a question that cannot generate enough usable data produces a capped mark that no amount of later writing recovers. Evaluation is where strong students lose marks, by listing generic improvements instead of specific systematic errors.

When is the best moment to get help with the physics investigation?+

Twice, in two short blocks, and not in between. Three sessions before the laboratory work, to interrogate the research question, check that the expected readings are measurable with the available equipment, and confirm a variable can genuinely be controlled. Then two sessions after collection, working through the raw data on a shared screen: plotting, testing for a straight-line form, propagating uncertainties, and checking the conclusion is actually supported. During the weeks when measurements are being taken there is very little a tutor can usefully add.

Can a tutor write part of my child's physics report?+

No. A tutor can question the research design, point out that a method will not produce analysable data, explain what each of the four criteria rewards, mark a draft against them and teach uncertainty convention and referencing. A tutor cannot write any part of the report, rewrite the student's prose, supply a research question as a finished product, provide data the student has not collected, or edit a draft to completion. One operator in this market was found selling completed Internal Assessments; buying one is malpractice and the consequence falls on the student.

Which four habits cost physics candidates the most marks?+

Four places, none of them conceptual. Units and significant figures: a numerically correct answer with a missing unit loses the mark, and figures copied straight from a calculator get marked down. Direction: velocity, force and field strength are vectors and students treat them as numbers. The controlled variable: experiments described without naming what was held constant forfeit marks explicitly available for it. And explanation vocabulary: thermal answers given in terms of temperature where the scheme wants particle behaviour and mean kinetic energy.

Which physics theme needs the most tutoring hours?+

Fields, by a clear margin, particularly at Higher Level. Gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, circuits, electromagnetic induction and the Higher Level extensions into orbital motion and field potential together account for most of the session count we propose. Circuits specifically collapse when a diagram is unfamiliar rather than when the theory is missing. By contrast, nuclear and quantum physics is content-dense but self-contained, which makes it one of the most efficient themes to tutor at four or five focused sessions.

How much does IB physics tuition cost around here?+

Published Dubai rates for a qualified online subject tutor run roughly AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, with specialist IB and A-Level provision quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above and one UK agency at AED 270. For physics the useful figure is the block rather than the hour: two or three sessions for data analysis, four or five for nuclear and quantum, ten to fourteen for Higher Level fields taught properly. Those are market rates researched in October 2026, not IB Gram's prices, which follow the free trial.

Does online physics tuition work without a laboratory?+

For the taught parts, yes, and for the practical sense a student develops, no. The school laboratory is where parallax on a metre rule and reaction time against a short interval become real, and nothing over video substitutes for that; we would not claim it does. What video does better than paper is the analysis: a graph built and annotated on a shared screen where both people see it, with uncertainties propagated step by step. The practical work belongs at school and the reasoning around it works well online.

My child takes Applications and Interpretation maths and Physics HL. Is that a problem?+

It can be, and it is worth planning for rather than discovering. Physics Higher Level assumes comfortable manipulation of indices, logarithms and trigonometric resolution, some of which an Applications and Interpretation student may meet less of elsewhere in their timetable. The practical answer is a short mathematical-fluency block of four to six sessions before the fields theme arrives, which is better value than more physics teaching during it. One marked paper shows clearly whether this is the operating constraint.

Is one physics session a week enough at Higher Level?+

One, in almost every case, with two in the final run-in to the May session. The reason is that a student needs time between sessions to attempt problems unaided, and the unaided attempt is where the learning happens. Two or three weekly slots on top of a full Dubai timetable and training in Dubai Sports City produces attendance rather than progress. The exception is a genuine content backlog in fields, where a short period of two sessions a week can close a gap that one cannot.

Can physics sessions move during Ramadan or exam weeks?+

Yes, and online delivery is what makes it straightforward. Sessions shift to post-Iftar timing through Ramadan, move within the week when an investigation deadline or a tournament collides, and pause entirely through mock and final examination weeks. Nobody's round trip has to be renegotiated, so it is usually settled in the same week. We also agree a stop date at the start, normally study leave or a named deadline, so a physics arrangement is reviewed deliberately rather than renewed out of habit.

Is there a physics specialist near Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Rarely, and it is better to say so. Physics Higher Level teachers are scarce in any school system, and the catchment of a single villa community of a few thousand households is unlikely to contain one who is also free at the hours your child can work. That arithmetic is why we match online by level and theme rather than by distance. Where the available specialist is based outside the UAE, we say so before any payment, including which time zone they teach from.

What if nobody is free for Higher Level physics when we need it?+

You get the realistic wait, not a substitute. Availability is thinnest in the eight weeks before the May session, which is exactly when demand peaks, and for the fields theme specifically. In that situation we will offer a shorter diagnostic block or a data-analysis block that can run with a different specialist, and tell you when the Higher Level teacher becomes free. No competitor page found in this market publishes a coverage limit, which is why ours is here rather than discovered after a deposit.

Put the session where the student can still think

Physics rewards a fresh student and punishes a tired one, which makes the slot almost as important as the tutor. For a Jumeirah Golf Estates family that means a weekday session from 6.30pm, after the first attempt at homework, plus a weekend morning when a full paper needs sitting. Send us the level, the theme, one marked paper and your real finish time. We will tell you whether this is a two-session data-analysis job or a Higher Level fields programme, propose a specialist, and let you test them in a free trial lesson over live video.
