IGCSE Home Tutor in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Most searches for an IGCSE home tutor in Jumeirah Golf Estates start at 3.20pm in a car. This page is written around that: the schools this community actually feeds, what time the day really ends once the Jumeirah Park and Sports City gates clear, and where a sixty-minute session fits without wrecking dinner. IB Gram teaches Jumeirah Golf Estates students one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to UAE addresses.

  • Slots built around the real end of a Dubai school day
  • Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 taught as the different courses they are
  • No travel on the tutor's side, so a 7pm start is a real option

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Golf Estates

The school run is the real constraint, not the tutor supply

Ask a Jumeirah Golf Estates parent when their child could sit down with a tutor and the first answer is usually optimistic. Four o'clock, they say. Then you walk through the actual afternoon. School finishes between 2.45pm and 3.30pm depending on the campus and the year group. The pick-up queue at the Jumeirah Park gate or on the Sports City side runs fifteen minutes before anyone moves. Al Khail Road at 3.30pm adds another twenty. A snack, a shower, a bag emptied onto the kitchen island. By the time a fifteen-year-old is capable of thinking about simultaneous equations it is closer to half past five, and if there is football or swimming in Sports City it is closer to seven.

This is why in-home tuition in communities like this one so often disappoints. The tutor is driving in through the same traffic, from Al Barsha or Motor City or further, and arrives at the hour when the student has already run out of attention. Forty of the sixty minutes get spent warming up. The family pays for the car as well as the lesson, because market in-home rates in Dubai include the travel whether the invoice itemises it or not.

IB Gram's answer is to remove the travel from the equation entirely. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, at a fixed weekly time in Gulf Standard Time, with a tutor chosen for the specific board and subject your child sits. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE — that is a service we run only in India. Saying so plainly matters more than it sounds, because it is the difference between a family planning around a 7.15pm video call and a family waiting for a car.

There is a second reason the school run belongs at the top of this page rather than in a footnote. Which school your child attends determines which awarding body they sit, and the campuses around this community are split. A Cambridge candidate and a Pearson Edexcel candidate living on the same street in Jumeirah Golf Estates need different past papers, different tier decisions and, in several subjects, different tutors. The first question we ask is therefore not what grade you want but which syllabus code appears on the last report, because everything after that depends on the answer.

What follows is built for the Jumeirah Golf Estates timetable. It names the schools this community feeds and which boards they use, maps the realistic window for a session against each school's finish, sets out where IGCSE marks are actually lost at Core and Extended, prices the market honestly, and counts the June and November series backwards so you can see which levers are still available. Nothing here promises a grade, and every dirham figure on this page belongs to the market rather than to us.

  • Realistic weekday session windows for this community fall between 6pm and 8.15pm
  • Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE are different syllabuses, not labels
  • UAE candidates sit the June and November series; the February and March series is India-only
  • MoE equivalency counts five IGCSE subjects, excluding Arabic and Islamic education
  • Delivery is live video one-to-one; no tutor is sent to a UAE address

Jumeirah Golf Estates children on a British-curriculum path meet two IGCSE awarding bodies and then a fork at sixteen. Which board your child's school uses changes the paper structure, the tiering and in some subjects the content, so it is the first thing to establish before any tuition starts.

Cambridge IGCSE

The more common route in Dubai. Subjects carry a four-digit syllabus code — 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0500 First Language English — and most science and maths subjects split into Core and Extended. Core caps the available grade at 5; Extended runs the full 9 to 1. The tier decision is made by the school, usually in Year 10, and it is reversible more often than families assume.

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, warning it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask your school's exams officer which zone applies. UAE candidates sit the June and November series only; the February and March series is offered to India.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Used by a significant minority of Dubai schools and by most private candidates. Codes look different — 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology, 4EA1 English Language A — and the tiering language differs too: Foundation covers grades 5 to 1 and Higher covers 9 to 4. Several subjects assess in two papers rather than three, which changes revision shape considerably.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and in November. As a checkable example of lead times, the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Always work from the live official timetable.

A Level or IB Diploma after Year 11

Most British-curriculum schools around Jumeirah Golf Estates continue to A Level, while several campuses a short drive away switch to the IB Diploma. The choice is made in Year 11 and it reaches back into IGCSE subject selection: a student intending Diploma Higher Level sciences needs Extended tier, and a student intending A Level Mathematics is served by Additional Mathematics 0606 in Year 11.

This fork matters for Ministry of Education equivalency later. The published British-track rule requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, plus one A Level at no less than E or two AS Levels at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. Verify current requirements on moe.gov.ae before relying on them.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Requests from this part of New Dubai concentrate on Mathematics and the separate sciences, with English as a Second Language and Economics appearing from Year 11. Below is what each subject assesses and where Jumeirah Golf Estates students most often lose marks.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

Algebraic manipulation, trigonometry, transformations and probability. The commonest lost marks are not conceptual: unrounded intermediate values carried through a multi-step answer, and method lines omitted on questions worth four or five marks where the final figure is wrong.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606

Taken in Year 11 by students heading to A Level or Diploma Higher Level mathematics. Introduces calculus, logarithms and vectors ahead of time, and it is the single best preparation for Mathematics Analysis and Approaches. Students struggle with differentiation applied to problems rather than to expressions.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Forces and motion, electricity, waves, thermal physics and radioactivity. Electricity is where the grade is usually decided: series and parallel reasoning collapses under unfamiliar circuit diagrams, and candidates quote a formula without rearranging it correctly.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Bonding, stoichiometry, acids and bases, organic chemistry and qualitative analysis. Moles questions carry disproportionate weight and are rushed; the ion tests in the practical paper are memorisable marks that students routinely leave on the table.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Cells, transport, respiration, genetics and ecology. The content is manageable and the marks are lost on precision of language: osmosis answers that omit the words partially permeable membrane, or enzyme answers that say the enzyme dies.

Coordinated and Combined Science

Cambridge 0654 and 0653

Double or single award for students not taking three separate sciences. Coordinated Science 0654 is worth two grades and covers all three disciplines at Extended depth; Combined 0653 is a single award. Students moved onto these routes mid-Year 10 need the gap identified rather than the whole syllabus retaught.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Reading, writing, listening and, in 0511, a speaking endorsement. Writing marks hinge on text type and register — a student who produces an essay when a report was asked for loses marks nobody has ever explained to them.

First Language English

Cambridge 0500 · Pearson 4EA1

Directed writing, composition and reading response. The reading paper rewards close selection of evidence and short precise comment; long paraphrase scores badly, and it is the habit most students arrive with.

Economics

Cambridge 0455

Market systems, the price mechanism, government intervention and development. Diagrams must be labelled fully and then referred to in the prose. A correct diagram the answer never mentions earns almost nothing.

Business Studies

Cambridge 0450

Business activity, marketing, finance and people in business. The structured questions require application to the case organisation, and generic answers about customers and profit are the standard reason a confident student plateaus at grade 6.

Computer Science

Cambridge 0478

Data representation, hardware, networks, algorithms and programming. Pseudocode questions reward disciplined layout; students who code fluently often lose marks because trace tables are untidy rather than wrong.

Arabic as an additional language

School requirement in Dubai

Dubai private schools must run Arabic alongside the licensed curriculum, so this sits on the timetable whatever the IGCSE choices are. Because outside content needs Ministry of Education permission, support here follows the school's own material.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats work for an IGCSE student in this community, and the right one depends on where you are in Year 10 or Year 11. The wrong one costs a term.

Weekly one-to-one, fixed evening slot

The standard arrangement. Sixty or ninety minutes with the same board-specific tutor each week, sequenced against the school's own scheme of work, with questions set between sessions. The fixed slot is what makes it survive a Dubai term, because it is defended in the family calendar rather than negotiated weekly.

  • Same tutor, same time in Gulf Standard Time, every week
  • Work follows the school's teaching order, not a generic syllabus sweep
  • Past-paper questions set and marked between lessons
  • Written notes after each session so you can see what was covered

Year 11 exam-term intensive

Two or three shorter sessions a week in the run-up to the June series, built entirely around papers. The student sits a paper under timed conditions, the tutor marks it against the published scheme, and the next session attacks only what was lost. It suits a student whose content is largely there and whose technique is not.

  • Timed papers marked line by line against the mark scheme
  • Topic-to-paper mapping so revision is not spread evenly across everything
  • Session timing that can move post-Iftar during Ramadan
  • An agreed stop date at study leave

Short diagnostic block

Four to six sessions to find out what is actually wrong. Families often arrive certain that mathematics is the problem and leave knowing the issue is reading multi-step questions. A diagnostic block is cheaper than a term of the wrong tuition and it is what we recommend when a report says little more than that effort is good.

  • Starts from the last marked mock or report, not from a syllabus checklist
  • Produces a written list of the specific topics and techniques at fault
  • Ends with a recommendation that may be to stop
  • Can convert to a weekly slot without starting again

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah Golf Estates

01

What a Jumeirah Golf Estates afternoon actually looks like

A session time is a logistics decision dressed up as an educational one. Here is the afternoon in this community, accurately. Secondary finish times across the campuses Jumeirah Golf Estates families use range from about 2.45pm to 3.30pm. The pick-up queue costs ten to twenty minutes before a car moves. The drive home from the nearest cluster is eight to fifteen minutes; from the Al Barsha South ring it is twenty to twenty-five, and more if the Al Khail junction has stacked.

Add the human part. A teenager needs twenty minutes between arriving and being able to do anything useful. If there is a club in Dubai Sports City — and for this community there very often is — the child leaves again at 4.30pm and gets back after six. That single fact is why so many Jumeirah Golf Estates tuition slots that look sensible on paper collapse within three weeks.

The workable windows, therefore, are narrower than families expect and later. Weekday sessions land well between 6pm and 8.15pm. Friday afternoon works for some households and is impossible for others. Weekend mornings are the most underused slot in this community and the best one for anything requiring sustained concentration, which in Year 11 means past papers.

Online delivery is what makes those windows usable at all. There is no tutor in a car, so a 7.15pm start is simply a 7.15pm start, and a session can move to Saturday morning in a heavy week without anybody renegotiating a round trip.

Which board is your child actually sitting?

This question stops more tuition from working than any other, and most parents cannot answer it on the first call. Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE are different qualifications with different papers, different tier structures and, in some subjects, genuinely different content. A tutor who teaches 0580 fluently and has never opened 4MA1 will waste your child's time on topics that are not examined and miss ones that are.

Find the answer on the last school report or on the examination entry confirmation, where the syllabus code appears. Cambridge codes are four digits: 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0654 Coordinated Science, 0500 First Language English. Pearson codes start with a digit and letters: 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology, 4EA1 English Language A. If neither appears anywhere, ask the head of year directly; it takes one email.

It is also entirely normal in Dubai for a child to sit different subjects with different boards, because schools pick per department. A Jumeirah Golf Estates student can be a Cambridge mathematician and a Pearson physicist in the same Year 11. That is fine, and it is another argument for subject-specific tutors rather than one person covering everything.

The table below sets the two boards side by side on the things that change how you revise. Treat it as a checklist for the first conversation with a prospective tutor: if they cannot say which of these rows applies to your child, they do not yet know what they are teaching, and the first month will be spent discovering it at your expense.

Core or Extended: the decision that sets the grade ceiling

Of all the things a Year 10 parent should understand, tiering is the one most often missed until it cannot be changed. On Cambridge IGCSE, Core entry caps the maximum available grade at 5. On Pearson, Foundation entry caps it at 5 as well. A student targeting a grade 7 for A Level or Diploma Higher Level entry cannot get there from the lower tier, no matter how well the paper goes.

Schools make the decision for sound reasons: a borderline student entered for Extended can score below the lowest Extended grade and come away with nothing, where Core would have produced a safe 4 or 5. That is a real risk, not administrative caution. But it is a decision made in Year 10 on Year 10 evidence, and a student whose work changes in the first term of Year 11 can sometimes be moved. Nobody moves them if nobody asks.

This is where a diagnostic block earns its keep. Six sessions on Extended material produce a straightforward answer: either the student handles the additional topics or the gap is wider than one term can close. We have told Jumeirah Golf Estates families both things, and the second is more useful than an encouraging guess.

If your child is already on the lower tier and the post-16 plan requires a 7, the honest conversation is about whether the post-16 plan changes or whether a November resit on the higher tier is the route. Both are legitimate. Pretending the ceiling is not there is not.

Where IGCSE marks are actually lost

  • Unrounded intermediate values and missing method lines dominate maths losses
  • Electricity in Physics and moles in Chemistry are where grades are decided
  • Biology marks are lost on imprecise language rather than missing content
  • Paraphrase instead of selected evidence is the standard English reading error

Parents arrive describing a subject. Examiners see something narrower: a repeated technical habit costing four or five marks across a paper. Mathematics students lose marks by rounding an intermediate value and carrying it forward, so a correct method produces a wrong number, and by writing only an answer on a five-mark question where the method lines are the marks. Neither is a knowledge gap and both are fixable in three sessions.

In Physics, electricity decides the grade. Series and parallel reasoning holds up in the textbook circuit and collapses in an unfamiliar one, and candidates quote the right relationship then rearrange it wrongly under time pressure. In Chemistry, moles questions carry weight beyond their apparent size, and the qualitative analysis ion tests are pure recall marks that students repeatedly leave blank. In Biology, the loss is linguistic: an osmosis answer that never says partially permeable membrane, an enzyme answer that says the enzyme died.

In English, the reading paper rewards short precise comment anchored to a selected quotation, and the habit most students bring is extended paraphrase, which scores very little however well written. In Economics and Business Studies, the marks sit in application: a fully labelled diagram the prose never refers to, or a tool recited accurately and never applied to the organisation in the stimulus.

This is why the most valuable thing you can send before a trial lesson is a marked paper. A tutor reading your child's actual mistakes can name the pattern in twenty minutes. A tutor given only a subject name starts at the beginning of the syllabus, which is almost always the wrong place.

05

What IGCSE tuition costs in this part of Dubai

Take the cheapest option first, because it is the one most Jumeirah Golf Estates families price against. Budget online tuition, typically delivered by a university student, is advertised in this market from around AED 45 to AED 150 an hour; one platform publishes rates from AED 33 to AED 52 and another from AED 45 to AED 65. At one weekly hour that is roughly AED 240 to AED 600 a month on published monthly estimates. For a Year 9 student needing homework structure, that can be perfectly adequate.

A qualified subject tutor working online sits higher, at roughly AED 150 to AED 300 an hour on rates published in October 2026; one agency lists IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Monthly, that is in the region of AED 600 to AED 1,200 for a weekly session. An in-home one-to-one visit including travel runs from about AED 180 to AED 500 an hour, with one provider publishing monthly packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions against AED 799 for eight online sessions. Specialist IGCSE and IB tuition is quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and premium examiner-led provision as high as AED 650.

Two honest observations. The in-home premium buys travel, not teaching time, and in this community the travel is substantial. And the figures above are market rates attributed to the providers and surveys that published them, with the research date stated; they are not IB Gram's prices, which are quoted to you after the free trial lesson. Anyone quoting you a rate should be able to say what it includes and whether it is per hour or per lesson.

For context on the wider budget, KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. School fees are therefore the fixed part of your planning and tuition is the variable.

The June and November series, counted backwards

Families consistently start too late because the calendar is described forwards. Counted backwards it is clear what is still available. The examination is fixed. Entry deadlines sit months in front of it. School mocks sit roughly a term ahead. By February of Year 11, several decisions — tier, board, subject count — are already behind you.

Get the series right first. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series. The February and March series is offered to India only, so a Jumeirah Golf Estates candidate sits June, with November as the resit route. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that using the wrong zone's timetable is the candidate's risk, not theirs. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and in November, with provisional timetables published well ahead of each series.

The useful habit is to work from the live official timetable rather than from any date restated on a tutoring page. As a check on how far ahead the machinery runs: Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those are past dates, which is what makes them verifiable.

The table below is the version to pin up. It says what should already be done at each point rather than restating dates that can be revised.

Who is legally allowed to tutor your child in the UAE

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • University students and 15 to 18 year-olds can hold it, which explains the budget rate band
  • Never engage your child's own classroom teacher as a paid private tutor
  • A training-institute permit applies to premises, not to individual tutors

It is worth asking, and almost nobody does. Private tutoring in the UAE sits under a private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The permit is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service listing for issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system.

Eligibility is wider than families assume: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. That last category explains part of the AED 45 to AED 150 band, and it is worth knowing when you are comparing a rate rather than a person. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so no figure can honestly be quoted.

One boundary to respect. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction. This has been reported in the regional press and should be verified against the current ADEK policy document before being relied on as exact wording. Practically: do not ask for your child's own classroom teacher as a paid tutor.

A tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal entity again and needs an Educational Services Permit for a training institute from KHDA. IB Gram holds no such permit, operates no UAE centre or office, and is not accredited, licensed, approved by or partnered with KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB.

08

MoE equivalency: the five-subject rule, stated correctly

If your child may apply to a UAE university, the school-leaving certificate goes through a Ministry of Education equivalency process, and the British-track requirement is specific. Students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects.

That last clause matters in Dubai, where Arabic and Islamic Education are mandatory school subjects. A student can be sitting eight or nine subjects in total and still need to check which five are being counted. One provider currently ranking for UAE tutoring queries states that candidates must take six IGCSE subjects; the published rule says five. Getting this right is not a detail when a family is choosing whether to drop a subject in Year 11.

Two cautions. Equivalency is a process the Ministry performs, not something a tutoring provider performs or can guarantee, and tuition is not a requirement for it. And requirements change, so verify the current position on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority before acting. We describe it here because no competitor page in this market mentions equivalency at all, not because we administer it.

The practical use of the rule in Year 11 is defensive. If a Jumeirah Golf Estates family is weighing whether to drop a subject under pressure, the question is whether five countable subjects will still be in place afterwards, with Arabic and Islamic education set aside from the count. That is a five-minute check against the entry list, and it is far easier to do in November than to discover in August.

Booking a tutor that survives a Dubai term

  • Give us the real arrival time and the afternoons that are already committed
  • Send the syllabus code and the last marked paper before the trial
  • If no board-specific tutor is free you get the wait, not a substitute
  • A stop date is agreed at the start so the arrangement gets reviewed

Half the tuition arrangements that fail in this community fail on logistics rather than teaching. A slot agreed in September against an optimistic view of the afternoon collapses by October, the sessions become irregular, and the continuity that makes tuition work disappears. So we ask for the awkward information first: what time does your child actually get through the door, and which afternoons already have something in them.

Then we ask for the board and syllabus code, and for the last marked paper or report. With those three things a match is usually quick and accurate. The free trial lesson exists to test the only thing a profile cannot show you: whether this tutor can explain the specific confusion your child has. Give them a real lost question from the mock beforehand.

What we will not do is put a generalist in front of a student on the wrong board and let the term run. If no appropriate board-specific tutor is free in your windows, you are told the wait and, where the available specialist is based outside the UAE, told that too, before any payment. And we agree a stop date at the outset, usually study leave or the end of a specific block, so that tuition is reviewed rather than renewed by inertia.

Nothing on this page promises a grade. We publish no guaranteed outcomes, no satisfaction percentages, and no self-asserted ratings, and in this market that absence is information in itself.

Where we tutor

The communities on the Jumeirah Golf Estates school run

What determines a usable session time is not the distance to the tutor but the distance to school. These are the communities Jumeirah Golf Estates families drive through or into twice a day, and what each one does to the afternoon.

Jumeirah Park

The nearest villa community with a British-curriculum school inside it, and the de facto school run for much of Jumeirah Golf Estates. Gate clearance is the delay rather than the drive; eight minutes of road, twenty of queue.

Dubai Sports City

Directly adjacent and the reason so many sessions start at 7pm. Academies and clubs here run late afternoon, so a Jumeirah Golf Estates child is often in Sports City between the school pick-up and dinner.

Motor City

Ten to fifteen minutes along the Hessa Street side, with a large British-curriculum campus. Families here and in Jumeirah Golf Estates swap school-run notes constantly because the finish times differ by nearly an hour.

Al Barsha South and JVT

Fifteen to twenty-five minutes depending on the Al Khail junction. Several schools serving this community sit here, which pushes some Jumeirah Golf Estates children to a 3.45pm pick-up and a 4.30pm arrival home.

The Springs and The Meadows

Twenty minutes east along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, with an established school belt. Year 10 and 11 families here ask about Cambridge IGCSE tiering more than about any other topic.

Emirates Hills

Large plots and a school cluster on its Meadows boundary. The drive is short but the entry route is narrow, and the afternoon exit regularly costs a Jumeirah Golf Estates parent fifteen extra minutes.

Arabian Ranches

Twenty to thirty minutes and home to several long-established campuses, including IB provision. A family with one child at IGCSE and one at Diploma often runs both ends of this route in the same afternoon.

Dubai Marina and JLT

Twenty to thirty-five minutes down Al Khail or Sheikh Zayed Road. Parents working in this direction are rarely home before 6.30pm, which sets the lower bound on a weekday session for the whole household.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Jumeirah Park, Sports City and Motor City

The immediate cluster for this community and overwhelmingly British curriculum, which is why IGCSE rather than the Middle Years Programme is the Year 10 conversation here. Finish times across these campuses differ by up to 45 minutes, so two neighbours can need very different session slots.

  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy
  • Safa Community School

Al Barsha South, JVT and the Hessa Street belt

The second ring, reached in fifteen to twenty-five minutes, and more mixed: British-curriculum schools running IGCSE alongside campuses that continue to the IB Diploma. Several Jumeirah Golf Estates families choose here specifically to keep the post-16 options open.

  • Sunmarke School
  • Arcadia School
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Arcadia Global School

These schools are named to describe the environment around Jumeirah Golf Estates. IB Gram has no affiliation with, endorsement from or partnership with any of them, and none is a client.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Establish the board and the code

Before anything else, find whether your child sits Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1. The code is on the report or the entry confirmation. It changes which past papers are useful and which tutor is the right one, and getting it wrong wastes the first month.

  2. 02

    Map the afternoon honestly

Tell us the school, the finish time, how long the pick-up and drive take, and which afternoons already have a club in them. A Jumeirah Golf Estates slot that ignores the Sports City run will not survive three weeks. Two or three realistic windows in Gulf Standard Time is all we need.

  3. 03

    Send the evidence

A marked mock paper or the latest report with the subject teacher's comment is worth more than any description of the problem. It usually shows the issue is three topics or one recurring technique error rather than a whole syllabus, which changes both the tutor and the number of sessions we propose.

  4. 04

Use the free trial on a real question

You and your child meet the proposed tutor over live video. Hand them a question from the mock that was lost and watch what happens. Afterwards you get the tutor's own read on the problem and a plan with a session count, and you decide. No payment is needed to get this far.

  5. 05

Lock the slot, agree the end

We book a recurring weekly time rather than session by session, because continuity with one tutor is the active ingredient. We also agree when it stops — study leave, the June series, or after a named block — so nobody is paying in March for a decision made in September.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Built around the school run, not around a brochure

The session windows on this page come from how the afternoon works in Jumeirah Golf Estates: the gate queue at Jumeirah Park, the Al Khail junction, the clubs in Sports City. Scheduling that ignores all three is why so many tuition arrangements in this community quietly stop in October.

Board-specific tutors

Cambridge and Pearson are different qualifications. We staff by syllabus code, so a 4PH1 student is not taught from a 0625 scheme of work. It sounds obvious and it is the most common unforced error in this market, because a generalist tutor rarely volunteers which board they know.

Online delivery, stated before you book

Lessons are live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not make home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. You read it here rather than discovering it later, and we will not route a UAE enquiry to a non-UAE number as the conversion path.

Every figure attributed

The AED rates on this page belong to the providers and surveys that published them, with the research date given. Our own fee is quoted after the trial. We publish no invented statistic, no self-asserted star rating and no claim we cannot support with a sample size, a date and a method.

The honesty line on coursework

Tutors teach, question, mark against the published criteria and give feedback on the student's own work. They do not write or complete it. That applies to IGCSE coursework components exactly as it does to IB Internal Assessments, and our tutors will decline a request that crosses it.

We say when tuition is the wrong answer

Sometimes the diagnosis is a reading problem rather than a subject problem, sometimes the right route is a tier conversation with the school, and sometimes four diagnostic sessions are enough and the weekly slot is unnecessary. We would rather tell you that than bill you for a term.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Golf Estates: your questions answered

Can an IGCSE tutor come to our home in Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Not through IB Gram. We teach Jumeirah Golf Estates students one-to-one over live video, at a fixed weekly time in Gulf Standard Time, and we make no home visits anywhere in the UAE — in-person home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Independent in-home tutors do work in this part of Dubai and published market rates for an in-home visit including travel run roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour. Dropping the visit is what lets us match your child to a tutor who teaches their exact board rather than one who happens to live nearby.

What time can an IGCSE session realistically start for a child in Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Later than most families first suggest. Secondary finish times across the campuses this community uses run from about 2.45pm to 3.30pm, the pick-up queue costs ten to twenty minutes, and the drive home is eight to twenty-five minutes depending on the cluster. Add the twenty minutes a teenager needs to become useful and the earliest sensible start is about 5.30pm. If there is a club in Dubai Sports City, which there often is, it moves to 7pm or 7.15pm. Weekend mornings are the most underused slot here and the best one for timed papers.

How do I check which board the Jumeirah Golf Estates school run ends at, Cambridge or Pearson?+

Look for the syllabus code on the last school report or on the examination entry confirmation. Cambridge codes are four digits — 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0500 First Language English. Pearson codes combine a digit and letters — 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology, 4EA1 English Language A. If no code appears anywhere, email the head of year. It is entirely normal in Dubai for one student to sit different subjects with different boards, because schools choose per department.

Which IGCSE series does a Jumeirah Golf Estates candidate sit, June or November?+

For Cambridge, the June series, with November available as the resit route. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series; the February and March series is offered to India only, so it should play no part in a UAE family's planning. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and in November. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone's timetable, so confirm your zone with the exams officer.

Is my child on the Core or the Extended tier, and does it matter?+

It matters more than almost anything else. Cambridge Core entry caps the maximum available grade at 5, and Pearson Foundation entry does the same, so a student needing a 7 for A Level or IB Diploma Higher Level cannot reach it from the lower tier. Schools decide tiering in Year 10 for defensible reasons, since a borderline student on the higher tier carries real risk. But the decision is reviewable early in Year 11 if the evidence changes, and nobody reviews it unless a parent asks. Check the entry, not the assumption.

What does IGCSE tuition cost around Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Cheapest first: budget online tuition, usually a university-student tutor, is advertised in Dubai from around AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, roughly AED 240 to AED 600 a month at one weekly session. A qualified subject tutor online sits at about AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, or AED 600 to AED 1,200 monthly. In-home visits including travel run AED 180 to AED 500. Specialist IGCSE provision is quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above. Those are market rates from the providers named on this page, researched in October 2026, not IB Gram's prices.

Where do IGCSE students most often lose marks?+

On habits rather than knowledge. In Mathematics, rounding an intermediate value and carrying it forward, and writing an answer without the method lines that carry most of the marks. In Physics, unfamiliar circuit diagrams and formula rearrangement under time pressure. In Chemistry, moles calculations and the recall marks in the ion tests. In Biology, imprecise language — osmosis answers missing partially permeable membrane. In English, extended paraphrase where short comment on selected evidence was wanted. Each of these is fixable in a few sessions once identified, which is why a marked paper is worth more than a description.

How many subjects should my child take tuition in at once?+

One, usually, and two at most. The constraint is not money but the student's week: a subject needs unaided practice between sessions, and that attempt is where the learning happens. Three weekly tuition slots on top of a full Dubai timetable and a club schedule produces attendance without progress. If three subjects genuinely look weak, start with the one that most affects the post-16 plan, run a short diagnostic block in it, and see whether the technique fixes transfer. They often do, because the error is frequently about reading questions.

Does my child need a permitted tutor, and how would I check?+

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a private tuition work permit introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by MoHRE, granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Ask the tutor directly whether they hold it and under which category. Those tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published.

Can my child resit an IGCSE if June goes badly?+

Yes. Cambridge runs a November series alongside June, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is available in November as well as May/June, so a resit is roughly five months away rather than a year. Two practical points. First, the entry deadline for November falls well before the exam and often before results have settled in a family's mind, so find out the date in advance rather than after results day. Second, a resit is an opportunity to change tier where that is the real constraint. Private candidate entry is possible through approved centres in Dubai.

How many IGCSE subjects does the UAE equivalency rule actually count?+

Five. The published British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five, which matters in Dubai where both are mandatory school subjects. One provider ranking for UAE tutoring queries states six subjects are required; the published rule says five. Verify the current position on moe.gov.ae, because the Ministry runs this process, not a tutor.

Which schools do IGCSE students in Jumeirah Golf Estates generally attend?+

The immediate cluster is British curriculum and sits in Jumeirah Park, Dubai Sports City and Motor City, with a second ring fifteen to twenty-five minutes away in Al Barsha South and JVT that includes campuses continuing to the IB Diploma. Finish times across these schools differ by up to forty-five minutes, which is why two neighbours in the same street can need very different session slots. Schools are named on this page as context for the neighbourhood only; IB Gram is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any of them.

Can sessions move during Ramadan or around mock exams?+

Yes, and this is the clearest practical advantage of online delivery for a family here. Sessions can shift to post-Iftar timing through Ramadan, move within the week when a coursework deadline or a tournament collides, and pause entirely during mock or final examination weeks. None of it requires a tutor's round trip to be rearranged, so it can usually be settled in the same week. We also agree a stop date at the start, normally study leave or the June series, so the arrangement has a defined end rather than drifting on.

Will a tutor help with coursework, and where is the line?+

A tutor teaches the content, explains what the assessment criteria reward, interrogates a plan, points out where a method will not produce usable data, marks a draft against the criteria and explains what is losing marks, and teaches referencing properly. A tutor does not write, rewrite or complete any part of the work, supply a finished research question, or provide data the student has not collected. Our tutors decline requests that cross that line. Keep the written session notes: a dated record that the help given was feedback on the student's own drafts protects the student.

What if no tutor is available for my child's subject and board?+

You get told, with a realistic wait, rather than offered somebody who teaches the other board. Availability is thinnest for Pearson science combinations, Computer Science and Additional Mathematics 0606, and tightest in the eight weeks before the June series. Where the only available specialist is based outside the UAE, we say so before you pay anything, including which time zone they teach from. No competitor page in this market publishes a coverage limit, which is precisely why we do: the bookings we take are the ones we can actually staff.

Fit the tuition to the afternoon you actually have

The reason tuition fails in communities like Jumeirah Golf Estates is rarely the tutor. It is a slot agreed against an afternoon that does not exist, with a tutor who teaches the other board. Send us three things: the syllabus code, the last marked paper, and the two windows that survive the Jumeirah Park gate and the Sports City run. We will propose a board-specific tutor, you will meet them in a free trial lesson over live video, and you will decide afterwards. No home visit in the UAE, no promised grade, and no number on this page we cannot attribute to its source.
