IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Golf Estates

The honest answer to "is there an IB tutor near me in Jumeirah Golf Estates?"

Jumeirah Golf Estates is a low-density community of villas and townhouses wrapped around two championship courses, sitting between Dubai Sports City, Jumeirah Park and the Al Khail Road corridor. It is a comfortable place to live and a difficult place to find a subject specialist on foot. The population inside the gates is a few thousand households. The number of adults within a ten-minute drive who have taught IB Diploma Chemistry Higher Level to an examination standard, or who can read a Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Internal Assessment against the five assessment criteria and tell you which one is costing marks, is very small. That is not a criticism of the neighbourhood. It is arithmetic.

So when a parent types "IB home tutor in Jumeirah Golf Estates" into Google, two different things are being asked at once. The first is practical: can someone come to the villa. The second, and the one that actually determines whether the grade moves, is whether that someone knows the specific course. Those two requirements pull in opposite directions. The tighter you draw the geographic circle, the shallower the pool of genuine subject expertise inside it. Draw a circle around Jumeirah Golf Estates and you may find a capable general maths tutor. Draw it around the whole of Dubai and you may find three people who have marked Physics Paper 3. Draw it wider still and you find the person who teaches that paper every year.

IB Gram resolves the conflict by removing the driving. Lessons for families in Jumeirah Golf Estates are delivered one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time, from a specialist in the exact subject and level your child sits. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-person home visits are a service we run only in India. We say that plainly rather than burying it, because the alternative is a parent waiting at 5pm for a car that was never coming.

What that buys you is specificity. A Jumeirah Golf Estates student taking Chemistry HL, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL and English A Language and Literature SL does not need one tutor who is adequate at all three. They need a chemist for the organic mechanisms, a mathematician for the proof and calculus, and somebody who can mark an Individual Oral against the criteria. Online matching makes that routine. Geographic matching makes it a lottery.

The rest of this page does four things. It sets out what home tutoring actually costs in this part of Dubai and what the travel premium pays for, using published market rates rather than invented ones. It explains the permit position, because every private tutor working in the UAE needs one and most parents have never asked. It names the schools Jumeirah Golf Estates children actually attend and what that cluster is short of. And it states the academic-honesty boundary, because the Internal Assessment is where families get into trouble and where a certain kind of provider in this market is happy to help them.

At a glance

  • Delivery is live one-to-one video, not a home visit — we are explicit about this before you book
  • Market rates in Dubai for a qualified online subject tutor run roughly AED 150-300 per hour; in-home visits run higher
  • Private tutoring in the UAE requires a MoHRE permit issued free of charge for two years
  • Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Diploma both feed from this neighbourhood's school cluster
  • A tutor reviews and teaches your child's Internal Assessment; a tutor does not write it
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Jumeirah Golf Estates children sit in three different IB programmes depending on their age and school, and each one fails in a different way. The Primary Years Programme rarely needs tuition at all. The Middle Years Programme needs criteria coaching. The Diploma needs examination technique. Here is what each involves and what tuition looks like for a family in this community.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment marked by the teacher and moderated externally. Points run to 45, with the core contributing up to three. The Diploma is where tuition demand concentrates, because the examination is unforgiving about command terms and about showing method rather than answers.

UAE schools sit the May session, and Dubai Diploma candidates from the Jumeirah Golf Estates cluster typically attend schools in Al Barsha South, Jumeirah Park, Arabian Ranches or Emirates Hills. Confirm every session and results date with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org rather than with any tutoring provider, including us. For UAE university entry, Ministry of Education equivalency is a separate process handled by the ministry, not by a tutor.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, lettered A to D, with task-specific clarifications written by the teacher. There is no external paper in most schools, so the grade is built entirely from classroom tasks. Students lose marks for not answering the criterion in front of them, which is a skill rather than a knowledge gap, and it is highly coachable.

Several schools serving the Jumeirah Golf Estates and Dubai Sports City belt run MYP to Year 11 while others switch to Cambridge IGCSE at 14, so a family moving between communities inside Dubai can find the assessment model changes entirely. Dubai private schools also run Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside the MYP under KHDA requirements, which is additional timetable load the brochure does not mention.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units of inquiry with no external examination and a Year 6 Exhibition. Tuition at this stage should be narrow and short: a specific reading fluency gap, number bonds, or written fluency in English for a child who has arrived from a different language of instruction. Long-running PYP tuition is usually a sign that the problem has been misdiagnosed.

Jumeirah Golf Estates sits near several primary-only campuses, which means a family here often has a primary child five minutes away and a Diploma child thirty-five minutes away in a different community. That split is the practical reason online scheduling works better than a tutor driving between two addresses in the same evening.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

A smaller IB route combining two or more Diploma courses with a career-related study, plus a reflective project and personal and professional skills. Very few UAE schools offer it, so most Jumeirah Golf Estates families will never meet it. Where it is offered, tuition usually supports the Diploma course components rather than the career-related study itself.

Because Career-related Programme provision in Dubai is thin, families who want a vocational-leaning post-16 route more often look at BTEC at a Dubai centre or at A Level. If your child's school has floated the Career-related Programme, ask the coordinator which Diploma courses sit inside it, because that is what determines examination load.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Demand from the Jumeirah Golf Estates and Victory Heights side of New Dubai is dominated by the sciences and mathematics at Higher Level, with English A support rising in the second year as the Individual Oral and Paper 2 come into view. These are the courses we are asked for most often from this postcode.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, calculus, complex numbers and the Paper 3 extended investigation at Higher Level. Marks go on method lines that are never written down, on radians slipping back into degrees, and on candidates answering "show that" questions by quoting the result instead of deriving it.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling, financial mathematics and graph theory at Higher Level. The common failure is technology use: students who can run a regression on the calculator but cannot state what the coefficient means in the context the question describes.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Structure and reactivity across the reorganised syllabus, with organic mechanisms and energetics carrying the most lost marks. Paper 2 extended response rewards correct use of state symbols, significant figures and the data booklet, and penalises vague language about bond strength.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, fields, waves and the Higher Level extensions into rotational dynamics and quantum physics. Students lose marks for unit errors, for omitting the direction of a vector, and for describing an experiment without naming the controlled variable in the data-analysis paper.

Biology

HL and SL

The syllabus is now organised around unity and diversity, form and function, interaction and continuity. Command terms matter more here than in any other science: "outline" and "explain" carry different mark allocations and students routinely answer the wrong one.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 unseen analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, the Individual Oral on a global issue and, at Higher Level, the HL Essay. The Individual Oral is where coaching pays fastest, because it is a structured 15-minute performance with a published mark scheme.

English B

HL and SL

For students whose stronger language is not English, which is common across New Dubai's international intake. Writing tasks are assessed on text type as much as on language, so a student who writes a beautiful essay when a blog was asked for loses marks for a reason nobody explained.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy and the three-commentary Internal Assessment portfolio. Diagrams must be labelled fully and referred to in the prose; a correct diagram that the answer never mentions earns very little.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tools such as Ansoff, Porter and cash-flow forecasting, assessed through structured response and the research project. The weakness is almost always application: tools recited correctly but never applied to the stimulus organisation in front of the candidate.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Systems fundamentals, computational thinking, and the solution development for the Internal Assessment. Students arrive able to code and unable to document a design, and the documentation is where the criteria sit.

Arabic

First language and acquisition routes

Dubai private schools must run Arabic alongside the licensed curriculum under KHDA requirements, with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students and with teachers who hold the regulator's sign-off for those subjects. Support here is about keeping the mandatory subject from damaging the overall report.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core components

The TOK exhibition and essay, and the 4,000-word Extended Essay, together contribute up to three points. Support is supervision-style: question framing, structure, counterargument and citation discipline on work the student writes.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

There are three ways a Jumeirah Golf Estates family realistically buys IB support, and they suit different problems. Pick by what is actually wrong rather than by what is cheapest, because the wrong format wastes the whole term.

Weekly one-to-one, same tutor

The default and the one that moves grades. A fixed sixty or ninety-minute slot each week with the same subject specialist, working through the syllabus in the order the school teaches it, with past-paper questions set between sessions. Continuity is the active ingredient: a tutor who remembers that your child reverses the sign in integration by parts can fix it in week three.

  • Same tutor every week, same slot in Gulf Standard Time
  • Work sequenced against your child's school scheme of work
  • Past-paper questions set and marked between sessions
  • Written notes after each lesson so you can see what was covered

Internal Assessment and core supervision

Short, intensive blocks around a deadline for the Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay. The tutor works on the student's own draft: question framing, method, criteria mapping, counterargument and citation. The tutor does not write, rewrite or complete any part of it, and we will say no if asked.

  • Criteria-by-criteria feedback against the published assessment criteria
  • Research question narrowing before the work starts, which saves the most time
  • Referencing and citation discipline checked explicitly
  • A clear written record of what was advised, which protects the student

Examination-term intensive

A heavier schedule in the weeks before the May session: two or three sessions a week, paper-by-paper, with timed conditions and mark-scheme walkthroughs. This is a format for a student who knows the content and is losing marks on technique, not for one who is two topics behind.

  • Timed papers sat under conditions and then marked line by line
  • Command-term drilling across the specific subject's verbs
  • Session timing that can shift to post-Iftar during Ramadan
  • A stop date, so the schedule does not run into study leave

Small group of two or three

Occasionally the right answer for siblings or for two Jumeirah Golf Estates families with children in the same class at the same level. Cost per student falls, attention per student falls with it. It works for revision and content coverage; it does not work for diagnosing an individual's recurring error.

  • Only where students are genuinely at the same level and syllabus
  • Better for revision sweeps than for a specific weakness
  • Scheduling becomes the binding constraint, not availability
  • We will advise against it where one-to-one is clearly needed

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah Golf Estates

01

What a Jumeirah Golf Estates parent is actually asking

  • Density, not willingness, is why local IB specialists are scarce in villa communities
  • Subject-level matching matters more than the physical distance to the tutor
  • We state the online-only delivery before the trial, not after the invoice
  • Everything in the cost tables below is market data, attributed, not our price list

The search phrase is "IB home tutor in Jumeirah Golf Estates" but the question underneath it is narrower: is there a person near this villa who knows my child's specific course well enough to be worth the money. The honest answer is that proximity and subject depth rarely coexist in a community of a few thousand homes. Jumeirah Golf Estates has roughly the residential density of a small town and the subject-specialist supply to match.

Think about what the requirement really is. A Diploma student sitting Chemistry at Higher Level needs somebody who has read the current syllabus, knows which sub-topics sit in which paper, and can mark an extended response the way a moderator does. That is a working subject teacher or examiner, not a generalist. The chance that such a person happens to live within a short drive of one specific gated community, and happens to be free at the one hour your child is not at football or in a car, is low. Parents discover this after two or three disappointing trials.

IB Gram's position is that the geographic constraint is the thing to drop, not the specialism. Your child's lesson happens over live video at a fixed time in Gulf Standard Time, with a tutor selected because they teach that subject at that level. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE at all, in Jumeirah Golf Estates or anywhere else. The trade you are making is a car arriving in the driveway in exchange for a tutor, teaching online, who knows Paper 3.

The sections below put numbers on that trade: what the Dubai market charges for each format, what the travel premium actually buys, and what you can verify before you commit a single dirham.

02

How many IB specialists are genuinely available near this community

It helps to think about tutor supply the way a school thinks about staffing. A secondary school needs one Chemistry teacher per few hundred students, and only some of those teachers have taught the Diploma rather than A Level or the national curriculum. Scale that down to the catchment of a single villa community and the expected count for any one Higher Level subject is often less than one. For the less common courses it is reliably zero.

That has a practical consequence parents should hear before they start calling agencies. If a provider tells you they have a Jumeirah Golf Estates based tutor for every subject you name, be sceptical and ask which school they teach at and which papers they have marked. Research across this market found providers listing dozens of schools as clients with no relationship at all, so the claim costs them nothing to make.

Our own answer is to disclose coverage rather than imply it is universal. The table below sets out, by subject and level, how the match usually resolves for a family in this part of Dubai, and what we do when nobody appropriate is free. No competitor page in this market discloses a coverage limit, which is precisely why it is worth printing.

Read the table as a staffing forecast rather than a promise. The left column is the course, the middle columns describe how the match has typically resolved for families in the Jumeirah Golf Estates and Dubai Sports City belt, and the right column is what you are told when the answer is no. The pattern is consistent: the more specific the Higher Level course, the more certain it is that the right teacher is not within driving distance of this community, and the less that matters once the lesson happens over video.

What home tutoring costs around Jumeirah Golf Estates, and what the travel premium buys

Start with the monthly figure rather than the hourly one, because that is the number that actually lands on a family budget. A weekly one-hour session with a qualified subject tutor sits in a band that published Dubai rate surveys put at roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month for mid-tier provision, rising to AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and above for specialist examination-year support. Budget provision, typically a university student working online, is quoted from around AED 240 to AED 600 a month.

Now look at the hourly rates underneath those monthly numbers, because the gap between formats is where the money goes. Market research conducted in October 2026 across published UAE provider pages found budget online tuition advertised from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, qualified online subject tutors from AED 150 to AED 300, in-home one-to-one visits including travel from AED 180 to AED 500, IB and IGCSE specialists from AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and premium named or examiner-led tuition quoted as high as AED 650. One provider published monthly packages of AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

The important observation for a Jumeirah Golf Estates family is what the in-home premium is actually paying for. It is not more teaching. A tutor driving from Al Barsha to a villa off the Fire course and back spends something close to an hour in a car for a sixty-minute lesson, and that hour is priced into the rate whether or not the invoice itemises it. You are buying the travel, and the travel narrows the pool of people willing to make it. These are market figures from the sources named, not IB Gram prices; our own fee is quoted after the free trial lesson.

The one cost nobody tables is the family's own travel. If the alternative to a tutor visiting is driving a child to a learning centre in Motor City or Al Barsha at 5pm, add that to the comparison honestly.

Online one-to-one against a tutor in the villa: the comparison on its merits

A fair comparison does not pretend the in-home option has no advantages. A tutor sitting at the kitchen table can see a younger child's handwriting, can be supervised by a parent walking past, and removes the small friction of getting a teenager to a laptop on time. For a Primary Years child those things matter and we would say so.

For a Diploma student they matter much less than who is teaching. From Year 10 upwards the binding constraint is whether the tutor knows the paper. A student working through Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Paper 3 needs a shared screen with a worked solution building line by line, the same mark scheme open on both sides, and a recording to go back to. That is a better teaching environment than a notebook on a dining table, not a worse one.

Then there is the scheduling reality of this community. Jumeirah Golf Estates children are frequently at clubs in Sports City until 6pm, and a tutor who has to drive in afterwards is arriving at the point where a fourteen-year-old has stopped being able to concentrate. Online, the same slot starts at 7.15pm with no travel on either side, and can move to a weekend morning in a heavy coursework week or shift after Iftar during Ramadan without anyone renegotiating a round trip.

The table sets the two formats against each other on the dimensions that actually differ, and leaves out the ones where both formats are identical. Teaching quality is not a row, because it is a property of the tutor rather than of the format.

Is your tutor legally permitted to teach privately in the UAE?

This is the question almost no Dubai parent asks and the one with the clearest answer. Private tutoring in the UAE sits under a work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 on private tuition work permits, administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The permit is granted free of charge for two years. Individuals offering private tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so no honest page can quote an amount and we will not.

The eligible categories are broader than most parents expect. They include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service, listed as issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing, shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system.

There is one boundary worth knowing if your child attends school in Abu Dhabi or has a teacher who does. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction. That has been reported in the regional press; verify it against the current ADEK policy document before relying on the exact wording. The practical point is simple: never ask for your child's own classroom teacher as a paid private tutor.

A separate thing entirely is a tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai, which needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute. IB Gram holds no such permit, has no UAE centre or office, and is not approved, accredited or licensed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB or Cambridge. A provider implying that its individual tutors carry KHDA sign-off is describing something the regulator does not issue to individuals at all.

The schools this neighbourhood feeds, and what the cluster is short of

  • IB is 7 per cent of Dubai private enrolment against 37 per cent for the UK curriculum
  • The closest schools to Jumeirah Golf Estates are mostly British curriculum, not IB
  • Higher Level science and Internal Assessment support are the specific local gaps
  • Dubai school fees were frozen for 2026-27, so tuition is the variable in your budget

Dubai's private sector had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, US at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. Those proportions explain the experience of a Jumeirah Golf Estates IB family precisely. You are in the 7 per cent, surrounded by provision built for the 37 per cent.

On the ground that means the nearest campuses to the Jumeirah Golf Estates gates are mostly British curriculum, teaching Cambridge or Pearson IGCSE at 16, while the IB continuum schools sit a little further out towards Al Barsha South, JVT, Arabian Ranches and Emirates Hills. A family with a Diploma student is therefore driving past three schools that do not teach their child's course to reach the one that does, and the pool of nearby adults who understand that course is thinner than the school count suggests.

The cluster is specifically short of Higher Level science and mathematics support, and of anybody who works on Internal Assessment criteria rather than content. That is consistent with what we are asked for from this postcode. Dubai's sector is also still growing: the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6 per cent. More IB places near this belt will eventually change the picture.

One cost note while you are planning. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. For a family budgeting tuition against school fees, that is a stable baseline rather than a moving one.

07

The exam calendar, counted backwards from the paper

Most families start tuition too late, and the reason is that the calendar is usually described forwards. Counted backwards it is obvious. The examination is a fixed point. The Internal Assessment deadlines sit months in front of it and are set by the school, not the board. Entry deadlines sit months in front of those. By the time a parent feels the panic, several of the levers have already been pulled.

For Cambridge candidates, the first thing to get right is which series applies. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series. The February and March series is offered to India only, so a UAE candidate sits June, with November as the resit route. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, warning that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. Ask your school's examinations officer which zone your centre sits in.

For Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, examinations are available in May/June and in November. As a checkable example of how far ahead the machinery runs: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables well ahead of each series, so always work from the live official timetable rather than from any figure restated on a tutoring page.

For the IB Diploma, UAE schools sit the May session. We are not publishing an IB examination or results date on this page, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and we will not put a date in front of a parent that we have not read at source. Get your session and results dates from your school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org directly. What we can tell you is what the eight weeks before each milestone should contain, which is in the table.

Academic honesty: what a tutor may and may not do with an IA or Extended Essay

  • A tutor teaches, questions, marks against criteria and gives feedback on the student's own work
  • A tutor does not write, rewrite, complete or supply the work or its data
  • Official syllabus and paper material is referenced and linked, never redistributed
  • A written record of advice given protects the student if authenticity is ever questioned

This matters more in this market than parents realise, because there are providers in the UAE search results selling completed Internal Assessments outright. One was found advertising finished IAs at AED 3,750. Buying one is not a shortcut; it is academic malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student, not on the seller.

The boundary is straightforward once stated. A tutor may teach the subject content, explain the assessment criteria, interrogate a research question, point out that a method will not produce analysable data, mark a draft against the criteria and say which criterion is losing marks and why, and teach citation and referencing properly. A tutor may not write any part of the work, rewrite sentences into their own prose, supply a research question as a finished product, provide data the student has not collected, or edit a draft to completion. IB Gram tutors work to that line and will decline a request that crosses it. We would rather lose the booking.

There is a related rule about materials. We do not reproduce or supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides as downloads. Tutors reference them and link to the official source, which is both the lawful position and the one that teaches a student where to look. Anyone offering you a folder of everything should prompt a question about what else they are relaxed about.

One more thing worth doing: keep the written notes the tutor sends after each session. If the authenticity of a piece of coursework is ever questioned, a dated record showing that the advice given was feedback on the student's own drafts is the student's best protection, and it costs nothing to retain.

Mandatory UAE subjects running alongside the IB

  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in Dubai private schools
  • Arab and non-Arab groups must be taught in separate classes with different languages of instruction
  • Mandatory-subject time is built on a 40-minute lesson unit and competes with Higher Level study
  • Outside content for these subjects needs Ministry permission, so school material leads

A detail that catches new arrivals in Jumeirah Golf Estates: your child's IB timetable is not the whole timetable. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year, with April 2026 for schools whose year starts in April. The federal baseline behind this is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations.

The organisation of those classes is prescribed in some detail. KHDA requires separate classes by group for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, stating that combined classes for both Arab and non-Arab groups are strictly prohibited because of different curriculum expectations and language of instruction. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arab students and for Arabic as a first language, Arabic is the primary language for Social Studies for Arab students, and the school's licensed-curriculum language applies for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies. Schools must also ensure that all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects.

Two practical consequences. First, instructional time for the mandatory subjects is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided total weekly time is met, and it is advised that any mandatory subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes; that is real timetable space competing with your child's Higher Levels. Second, for the mandatory subjects the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, so tutoring in these subjects has to follow the school's own material rather than an outside scheme. We will tell you when the school is the better route.

Ministry of Education equivalency for IB students, described accurately

If your child may apply to a UAE university, equivalency of the school-leaving certificate is a Ministry of Education process and it has specific requirements by curriculum. For the British track the published position is that students must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade, and must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. One provider ranking in this market states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects, which is not what the published rule says.

For the American track, English proficiency requires a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying.

For the IB there is a figure circulating on tutoring sites and we are not going to repeat it, because we have not read it on a Ministry of Education source. If somebody quotes you an IB points threshold for equivalency, ask where on moe.gov.ae or the emirate's attestation authority it appears. Equivalency is also something IB Gram neither performs nor guarantees, and tutoring is not a requirement for it. Describe it, verify it at the authority, and do it through the official channel.

Getting started from Jumeirah Golf Estates, including what goes wrong

  • Send subject and level, the last report or mock, and the time windows that genuinely work
  • Use the free trial on a real past question, not on introductions
  • If no specialist is free you get the wait and the tutor's location, not a substitute
  • Wrong match means a new tutor; no grade or score is ever promised

The useful version of this is not a four-step graphic. Send us three things: the subject and level, the school and what the last report or mock said, and the two or three time windows that actually work once the Sports City run and the Al Khail traffic are accounted for. With those three, matching is usually quick. Without the third, we will propose a slot nobody can keep.

Then there is a free trial lesson with the proposed specialist, which exists so that you can test the one thing you cannot test from a profile: whether this person can explain your child's specific confusion. Give the tutor a real problem beforehand, ideally a question from the last mock that was lost. A trial spent on introductions tells you nothing.

What goes wrong, honestly. Sometimes no specialist in the exact subject and level is free at the hours a family needs, particularly for Computer Science, Higher Level Physics in the weeks before the May session, and some language B combinations. When that happens we tell you the wait and where the available tutor is based, rather than offering a generalist and hoping. Sometimes the match is simply wrong on personality, in which case we change the tutor and do not argue about it. And sometimes the diagnosis is wrong: a student described as weak in mathematics turns out to be losing marks on reading the question, which is a different piece of work entirely.

Nothing on this page should be read as a promise about a grade. We do not guarantee outcomes, we publish no satisfaction statistics we cannot evidence with a sample size and a method, and we would be sceptical of anyone in this market who does.

Where we tutor

Jumeirah Golf Estates and the communities around it

Jumeirah Golf Estates sits inside a belt of villa communities along Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Families here send children to schools spread across several of these, which is why the drive matters so much and why removing it changes the planning. These are the areas we are asked about alongside Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Dubai Marina

High-rise and dense, twenty to thirty minutes from Jumeirah Golf Estates outside peak. Diploma students here often attend schools in Al Sufouh or Al Barsha, and a 4pm start is unrealistic from either direction.

JBR

Apartment living with a short walk to the beach and a long drive to any villa-community school. Families moving from JBR to the golf communities usually keep the same school and absorb the commute for a year.

JLT

Towers either side of the Metro, closest to Jumeirah Golf Estates of the Marina cluster via Al Khail Road. Mixed international intake with strong IGCSE demand at 15 and 16.

Emirates Hills

Large villa plots backing onto the Montgomerie, with a school cluster of its own along the Emirates Hills and Meadows boundary. Diploma subject demand here skews to the sciences and Economics.

The Springs

Townhouse community feeding primarily British-curriculum schools on the Al Thanyah side. Year 10 and 11 families here ask about Cambridge IGCSE far more often than about the MYP.

The Meadows

Villas adjacent to an IB continuum campus, so a Meadows family may have Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma children in the same school. Session timing clusters around 5.30pm after the school run.

The Lakes

Quieter and smaller, with most secondary children travelling out of the community. The practical consequence is that homework starts late, which rules out early-evening in-person slots.

The Greens

Mid-rise apartments popular with professionals, a short hop up Sheikh Zayed Road. Demand is weighted towards IGCSE Mathematics and the combined sciences rather than Diploma Higher Levels.

The Views

Adjoining The Greens with the same school patterns and the same traffic. Online scheduling from here is driven by parents working in Media City and Internet City until 6pm.

Al Sufouh

Home to several long-established international campuses that draw students from across New Dubai, including from the golf communities. A 35-minute return leg after school is normal for a Jumeirah Golf Estates family.

Dubai Sports City

Directly adjacent to Jumeirah Golf Estates and the closest dense residential pocket, with its own primary provision. Many Jumeirah Golf Estates families use Sports City for sports clubs, which is what pushes tuition to 7pm.

Jumeirah Park

Villa community to the north with a well-known British-curriculum school inside it. Several Jumeirah Golf Estates children attend it, making the Jumeirah Park gate the de facto school run for this neighbourhood.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Jumeirah Golf Estates, Sports City and Jumeirah Park

The immediate school cluster for this community is British-curriculum heavy, with IB provision sitting slightly further out. That is exactly why Diploma families here report the hardest time finding subject help nearby: the nearest campuses teach a different assessment model from the one their child is examined on.

  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Safa Community School
  • Arcadia School

Al Barsha South, JVT and the Al Khail belt

Fifteen to twenty-five minutes from the Jumeirah Golf Estates gates and where most of the IB continuum provision near this community actually sits. A family here will often have one child in a British-curriculum primary close by and a Diploma student in this cluster.

  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Sunmarke School
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • JSS International School
  • Arcadia Global School

Arabian Ranches, Emirates Hills and the Meadows

The established villa-community school belt, with IB Diploma and IB continuum campuses alongside British-curriculum schools. Jumeirah Golf Estates families with older children frequently drive into this cluster twice a day.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Emirates International School Meadows
  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Fairgreen International School

Schools are named here as ecosystem context for families living in and around Jumeirah Golf Estates. IB Gram is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of any school named on this page, and none of them is a client.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the course, not just the subject

Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level is a different staffing problem from Applications and Interpretation Standard Level. Give us the exact course title, the year group, and the school, and the shortlist narrows immediately. If you are not sure which Mathematics route your child is on, the school's subject choice form will say.

  2. 02

Share the evidence of what is wrong

The most useful thing you can send is a marked mock paper or the last report with the subject teacher's comment. It usually shows the problem is narrower than it feels: three topics, or a recurring technique error, rather than a whole syllabus. That changes both the tutor we propose and the number of sessions.

  3. 03

Give us two or three realistic windows

Jumeirah Golf Estates evenings are shaped by the school run and by clubs in Sports City, so the slot that looks free on paper often is not. Two or three windows in Gulf Standard Time, with your preference marked, lets us hold a consistent weekly time rather than reshuffling every fortnight.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial lesson

You meet the specific tutor, over live video, and so does your child. Hand them a real problem from the last assessment. Afterwards you get the tutor's own read on what is going on and a proposed plan with a session count, and you decide. No payment is required to reach this point.

  5. 05

Lock a weekly slot and a stop date

Continuity with one tutor is what moves grades, so we book a recurring time rather than session by session. We also agree when the engagement ends, usually at study leave or after a specific deadline, so tuition does not quietly become a permanent expense nobody reviewed.

  6. 06

    Review against the next assessment

After each session you get written notes on what was covered. At the next school assessment we look at whether the specific errors the plan targeted have gone. If they have not, we change the approach or the tutor; continuing unchanged for a second term is the most common waste of money in this market.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The specialist, not the nearest person

Matching by subject and level rather than by postcode is the whole proposition. A Jumeirah Golf Estates family gets a Chemistry Higher Level teacher because that is what their child sits, not because that teacher happens to live near the Earth course. In a community of this density, that distinction is the difference between help and company.

We tell you the delivery model up front

Lessons are live one-to-one video. IB Gram does not make home visits in the UAE; that is an India-only service. You will read that before you book rather than discovering it afterwards, and we will not route a UAE enquiry to a non-UAE phone number as the conversion path.

Prices and figures are attributed

Every AED figure on this page belongs to the market and is credited to the provider or survey that published it, with the research date stated. Our own fee is quoted to you after the trial. We publish no self-asserted star rating and no statistic we cannot support with a sample size, a date and a method.

The academic-honesty line is explicit

Tutors teach, question, mark against the published criteria and give feedback on the student's own work. They do not write, rewrite or complete an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay, and they will decline if asked. In a market where completed IAs are openly sold, this is worth stating rather than assuming.

Scheduling that survives a Dubai term

A fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time, movable within the week when coursework or a tournament collides, shiftable to post-Iftar during Ramadan, and pausable around examinations. No round trip has to be renegotiated to make any of that happen.

Honest about coverage limits

For some subjects there is no UAE-based specialist free, and for a few there rarely is. We name the wait and say where the available tutor is based rather than substituting a generalist. Disclosing a coverage limit costs us bookings and is the reason the ones we take tend to work.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Golf Estates: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor who comes to our villa in Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Not through IB Gram. We deliver one-to-one IB tuition to Jumeirah Golf Estates families over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, and we do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE — in-person home visits are a service we run only in India. Independent in-home tutors do work in this part of Dubai, and published market rates for an in-home one-to-one visit including travel run roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour. What you gain by dropping the visit is the ability to pick a tutor by subject and level rather than by who is willing to drive to the Fire course.

Is there actually anyone near Jumeirah Golf Estates who knows the IB syllabus my child is sitting?+

For common Standard Level courses, sometimes. For Higher Level Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, rarely, and for Computer Science almost never. A villa community of a few thousand households simply does not contain many adults who teach a specific Diploma course to examination standard. That is why we match online: the pool becomes every specialist in the subject instead of the handful inside a twenty-minute drive. If a provider claims a local tutor for every subject you name, ask which school they teach at and which papers they have marked.

How much should I expect to pay for IB tuition in this part of Dubai?+

Think monthly first. Published Dubai rate surveys put a weekly one-hour session with a mid-tier tutor at roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month, and specialist examination-year support at AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and above. Hourly, market research in October 2026 found qualified online subject tutors advertised at AED 150 to AED 300, IB specialists at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and premium examiner-led tuition quoted as high as AED 650. Those are market figures from the providers named on this page, not IB Gram's prices; ours are quoted after the free trial.

Does a tutor working with Jumeirah Golf Estates families need a UAE permit?+

Yes. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a private tuition work permit introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by MoHRE. It is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Ask any tutor directly whether they hold the permit and under which category. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published.

My child is at a British-curriculum school near Jumeirah Golf Estates but moving to the IB Diploma. What changes?+

Three things, and none of them is content. Assessment becomes continuous: every subject carries an Internal Assessment that is marked by the teacher and moderated externally, so the grade is being built from the first term. Command terms become load-bearing, because "outline" and "explain" carry different mark allocations. And the core arrives — Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service, together worth up to three points. Students who struggled with IGCSE because of pace usually cope; students who struggled with extended writing need support early, not in the second year.

Which IB schools do Jumeirah Golf Estates families generally use?+

The campuses closest to the gates are mostly British curriculum, so IB families typically travel: towards Al Barsha South and JVT, where several IB continuum schools sit, or towards Arabian Ranches, the Meadows and Emirates Hills. That is consistent with Dubai's overall mix, where the International Baccalaureate accounts for about 7 per cent of private-school enrolment against 37 per cent for the UK curriculum. Named schools on this page are context for the neighbourhood only; IB Gram is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of any of them.

What time can lessons realistically start for a child living in Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Later than most families first suggest. The school run out of this community commonly runs twenty to thirty-five minutes each way, and clubs in Dubai Sports City keep secondary students out until around 6pm. In practice, consistent slots land between 6.30pm and 8.15pm on weekdays, with weekend mornings working well for Internal Assessment and Extended Essay blocks. Online removes the travel on the tutor's side, which is what makes a 7.15pm start possible at all; a tutor driving in afterwards arrives when concentration has already gone.

Can a tutor help with my child's Internal Assessment without crossing an academic-honesty line?+

Yes, and the line is clear. A tutor can teach the subject content, explain each assessment criterion, interrogate and narrow a research question, point out that a method will not generate analysable data, mark a draft against the criteria and explain which criterion is losing marks, and teach referencing properly. A tutor cannot write or rewrite any part of the work, supply a finished research question, provide data the student has not collected, or edit a draft to completion. Our tutors decline requests that cross that line. There are providers in this market selling completed IAs; that is malpractice and the student carries the consequence.

Which IB exam session do students in Dubai sit, and when should tuition start?+

UAE schools sit the May session. We are deliberately not publishing an IB examination or results date here, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and we will not put an unverified date in front of a parent — get yours from your school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org. On timing, work backwards instead: Internal Assessment deadlines are set by the school and sit a term or more before the papers, mocks sit roughly a term ahead, and the final eight weeks should be past papers under timed conditions. Starting tuition after the mocks means several levers have already been pulled.

How many sessions a week does a Diploma student in this community usually start with?+

One weekly session per subject is the normal starting point, and for most students it is enough. Two or three a week makes sense in two situations: an examination-term intensive where the student knows the content and is losing marks on technique, or a genuine content backlog in a Higher Level science. More is rarely better, because a student needs time between sessions to attempt problems unaided — that attempt is where the learning happens. We would rather propose eight well-used sessions with a stop date than an open-ended weekly commitment nobody reviews.

Is online tutoring genuinely as effective for a Diploma student as somebody sitting at the table?+

For a Diploma student, the tutor's subject knowledge matters far more than the room. A shared screen with a worked solution building line by line, the same mark scheme open on both sides and a recording to revisit is a better teaching environment than a notebook on a dining table. For a Primary Years child the in-person advantages are real and we would say so. From Year 10 upwards the binding constraint is whether the tutor knows the paper, and online matching is what makes it possible to pick someone who does.

Does my child have to study Arabic as well as their IB subjects in Dubai?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, under KHDA requirements implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students, with Standard Arabic as the language of instruction for Arabic as a first language and for Islamic Education for Arab students. Instructional time is built on a 40-minute lesson unit. Because outside content for these subjects needs Ministry of Education permission, tutoring here has to follow the school's own material.

What happens if no specialist is available for my child's subject?+

We tell you. For some courses — Computer Science, Higher Level Physics close to the May session, some language B combinations — there may be no appropriate tutor free at the hours you need. In that case you get the realistic wait, the option of a shorter diagnostic block in the meantime, and, where the available specialist is based outside the UAE, we say so before you pay anything. What we do not do is put a generalist in front of a Higher Level student and hope. No competitor page in this market discloses a coverage limit, which is exactly why we publish ours.

Can sessions move during Ramadan or around school examinations?+

Yes, and this is one of the clearest practical advantages of online delivery. Sessions can shift to post-Iftar timing through Ramadan, move within the week when a coursework deadline or a tournament collides, and pause entirely during mock or final examination weeks. None of that requires a tutor's round trip to be renegotiated, so it can usually be arranged in the same week. We also agree a stop date at the start, typically study leave or a specific deadline, so the schedule has a defined end rather than running on by default.

Does IB Gram hold any KHDA or IB accreditation I should look for?+

No, and you should treat that claim as a warning sign wherever you see it. IB Gram is not approved, accredited, licensed by or partnered with KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. We hold no KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is the specific permit issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, and we have no UAE office or centre. We name those regulators on this page to explain what each one governs, which is a different thing from implying any of them endorses us.

How do I tell a genuine IB specialist from a general tutor during the trial?+

Ask three concrete questions. Which papers does the subject have, and what is each worth at your child's level? What are the assessment criteria for this subject's Internal Assessment, by letter? And can you mark this specific lost question from the last mock and tell me what the mark scheme wanted? A specialist answers the first two without hesitating and the third with a mark scheme in hand. A generalist talks about confidence and study skills. The free trial exists for exactly this test, so use it on a real problem.

Start with the subject, not the postcode

If you have been searching for an IB home tutor in Jumeirah Golf Estates, the thing standing between your child and a better grade is almost certainly not distance. It is whether the person teaching them knows the course well enough to read a mark scheme out loud. Tell us the exact subject and level, send the last marked paper, and give us two or three evening windows that genuinely work once the Sports City run is done. We will propose a specialist, you will meet them in a free trial lesson over live video, and you will decide afterwards. No home visit, no promised grade, and no figure on this page that we cannot attribute.
