IB Tutor near me in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Typing "IB tutor near me" in Jumeirah Golf Estates returns a map, and the map is the wrong tool. What decides whether tuition works here is the school day: which campus your child travels to, when the gate clears, and what is left of the evening. IB Gram teaches Jumeirah Golf Estates students one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, so the only travel left in the week is yours. We send no tutors to UAE addresses.

  • Sessions planned against your child's actual campus finish time
  • Matched by programme and year group, from MYP criteria to DP papers
  • Live video one-to-one, so no lesson is lost to Al Khail traffic

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Golf Estates

Why "near me" is the wrong filter in a villa community

Search "IB tutor near me" from a villa in Jumeirah Golf Estates and the results will be shaped by proximity, which is the one variable that does not predict whether a tutor can help. This community holds a few thousand households spread around two golf courses. The number of adults inside that circle who teach a specific IB course to examination standard is small, and for Higher Level sciences it is frequently zero. Proximity is easy to measure, which is why search engines use it, and almost irrelevant to a Diploma grade.

What does predict the outcome is time. Not the tutor's travel time but your child's. The campuses Jumeirah Golf Estates families use for IB are not the ones closest to the gates: the immediate ring is largely British curriculum, and the IB continuum schools sit further out towards Al Barsha South, JVT, the Meadows and Arabian Ranches. That means a longer run twice a day, a later arrival home, and a much narrower usable window for anything requiring concentration.

So this page is written from the school day outwards. It maps the real finish-and-drive arithmetic for each cluster a Jumeirah Golf Estates child might attend, then sets out what should happen inside the window that is left: criteria work for a Middle Years Programme student, paper technique for a Diploma student, supervision blocks for the core components. Getting the content right in forty-five usable minutes beats getting ninety minutes of the wrong thing.

IB Gram delivers that as one-to-one live video tuition at a fixed weekly time in Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-person home tutoring is a service we run only in India. The practical gain is that no part of your child's remaining evening is spent waiting for somebody to arrive, and the tutor can be the person who teaches that exact course rather than the person who lives nearest.

It is worth being blunt about what the local search result is doing in the meantime. A place-name query is answered by whoever has optimised for that place name, and research across sixty-odd competitor pages in October 2026 found agencies routing UAE parents to Indian phone numbers, one page displaying a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page, and several listing twenty-five or more schools as clients with no visible relationship. Proximity in a search result is a marketing claim. A tutor's school, the papers they have marked and whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit are facts you can check, and those are the three questions worth asking anybody.

The sections that follow name the school clusters and their timings, explain what the Diploma points structure actually rewards, set out the Middle Years Programme criteria by letter, price the Dubai market with attribution, and state the academic-honesty boundary that matters most in the Internal Assessment weeks. There are no grade promises here and no statistics we cannot source.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A Jumeirah Golf Estates family may be dealing with any of three IB programmes, and the tuition each one needs is genuinely different. Knowing which you are in changes what a good session looks like.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three Higher Level and three Standard Level, each marked out of 7, plus up to three points from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, to a maximum of 45. Every subject carries an Internal Assessment marked by the teacher and externally moderated. Tuition here is about examination technique and command terms as much as content, because the content is usually taught competently at school.

UAE schools sit the May session. We do not publish IB examination or results dates on this page, because ibo.org blocks automated verification and an unchecked date in front of a parent is worse than none; take yours from your school's IB coordinator or ibo.org. For a Jumeirah Golf Estates student, the nearest Diploma campuses are a fifteen to thirty minute drive, which is the single biggest constraint on when a session can run.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups, each assessed against four criteria lettered A to D, with task-specific clarifications written by the classroom teacher. There is no external paper in most schools, so the reported grade is assembled entirely from classroom tasks. Students lose marks for answering the question rather than the criterion, which is a technique problem and responds quickly to coaching.

Dubai's school market is mixed enough that a Jumeirah Golf Estates family can have one child on Middle Years Programme criteria and a neighbour's child on Cambridge IGCSE in the same year group. If your child may move between those models, the gap to plan for is in extended writing and in independent research, not in subject content.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Units of inquiry across transdisciplinary themes, with no external examination and a Year 6 Exhibition. Tuition should be narrow and time-limited at this stage: a specific reading fluency gap, number facts, or written English for a child arriving from another language of instruction. A standing weekly slot for a primary child usually signals a misdiagnosis.

Primary provision close to Jumeirah Golf Estates is good and nearby, which creates the split many families here describe: a short run for the younger child and a long one for the Diploma student. Online scheduling exists mainly to stop those two runs colliding in the same hour.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The requests we receive from this part of New Dubai cluster in the Higher Level sciences and mathematics, with English A and the core components arriving in the second Diploma year. Here is what each one assesses and where the marks go.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, calculus, complex numbers and the Higher Level Paper 3 investigation. Marks disappear on unwritten method lines, on radians quietly reverting to degrees, and on "show that" questions answered by restating the result rather than deriving it.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling, financial mathematics and, at Higher Level, graph theory. The characteristic failure is interpretation: a regression run correctly on the calculator and then described in words that do not match the context the question set.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Structure and reactivity, with organic mechanisms and energetics carrying the heaviest mark losses. The extended-response paper rewards state symbols, significant figures and correct data-booklet use, and penalises loose language about bond strength and stability.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, fields and waves, extended at Higher Level into rotational dynamics and quantum physics. Units, vector direction and naming the controlled variable in data analysis are where otherwise capable candidates lose a grade boundary's worth of marks.

Biology

HL and SL

Organised around unity and diversity, form and function, interaction and continuity. Command terms carry more weight here than in any other science: outline and explain attract different mark allocations and students regularly answer the wrong one.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Unseen analysis in Paper 1, comparative essay in Paper 2, the Individual Oral on a global issue, and the HL Essay at Higher Level. The Individual Oral repays coaching fastest because it is a structured fifteen-minute performance with a published mark scheme.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy and a three-commentary Internal Assessment portfolio. Diagrams must be fully labelled and then used in the prose; an unmentioned diagram earns very little whatever its quality.

Business Management

HL and SL

Analytical tools and finance assessed through structured response and a research project. The ceiling is almost always application: tools reproduced accurately but never applied to the stimulus organisation in front of the candidate.

Theory of Knowledge

Core component

The exhibition and the prescribed-title essay, contributing with the Extended Essay up to three points. Support is about framing a knowledge question precisely and holding a counterargument, not about supplying content or opinions.

Extended Essay

Core component

A 4,000-word independent research piece supervised by a school teacher. The most valuable outside help is at the start, narrowing a research question so the evidence can actually answer it, and in citation discipline throughout.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

What a session should contain depends on the programme and on how much of the evening survives the drive home. These three formats cover almost every Jumeirah Golf Estates request.

Weekly one-to-one against the school's scheme of work

A fixed weekly slot with one subject specialist, following the order your child's teacher is actually teaching rather than a generic syllabus sweep. For a Diploma student this is where command-term discipline and past-paper technique get built, a few questions at a time, over a term.

  • Same tutor, same time in Gulf Standard Time, every week
  • Sequenced against the school's teaching order, not a textbook
  • Short sets of past-paper questions between lessons
  • Written notes after each session on what was covered

Criteria coaching for Middle Years Programme students

Short blocks aimed at a specific criterion rather than a subject. A student scoring well on criterion A and poorly on criterion D does not have a knowledge problem; they have a task-reading problem. Four to six sessions usually moves it, and then the tuition should stop.

  • Works from the teacher's own task-specific clarifications
  • Targets the weak criterion by letter, not the whole subject
  • Builds a reusable method for reading an assessment task
  • Designed to end rather than to continue

Core component supervision blocks

Timed support around Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Internal Assessment deadlines. The tutor works on the student's own draft: question framing, method, criteria mapping, counterargument, referencing. They do not write, rewrite or complete it, and will say so if asked.

  • Research question narrowed before data collection starts
  • Feedback mapped criterion by criterion to the published descriptors
  • Referencing and citation taught explicitly, not fixed silently
  • A written record of the advice given, which protects the student

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah Golf Estates

01

What the school day leaves you, campus by campus

An IB session time is decided by arithmetic, not preference. Take the campus finish, add the gate queue, add the drive, add the twenty minutes a teenager needs before they can think. For a Jumeirah Golf Estates family whose child attends in Al Barsha South, that chain typically ends somewhere after 4.30pm, and if there is a club in Dubai Sports City afterwards it ends after six.

The reason this matters more for IB than for other curricula is the homework load. A Diploma student arriving home at 4.35pm already has two or three hours of subject work plus whatever the core components demand that week. A tuition session dropped into the middle of that at 5pm competes with the school's own deadlines. Dropped in at 7.15pm, after the first pass at homework, it has something concrete to work on.

There is a quieter advantage to the later slot. A student who has already attempted the problem set arrives with a specific confusion rather than a general feeling of being behind, and a specific confusion is what a specialist can fix in forty minutes. Sessions scheduled too early in the evening tend to become supervised homework, which is a much lower-value use of a subject teacher.

The table below is the arithmetic for each cluster a Jumeirah Golf Estates student might attend. Find your row, and plan the slot from it rather than from the hour that looks empty in the calendar.

What "near me" returns, and why it misleads

A local search is answered by whoever has optimised for the place name, which in this market is often a provider with no presence here at all. Research across sixty-odd competitor pages in October 2026 found agencies routing UAE parents to Indian phone numbers, one page showing a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page, and several listing twenty-five or more schools as clients with no apparent relationship. Proximity in a search result is a claim, not a fact.

The second problem is that even genuine local supply is thin for the courses that matter. A school needs one chemistry teacher per few hundred students, and only some of those have taught the Diploma rather than A Level. Narrow the catchment to one gated community and the expected count for Higher Level Chemistry is below one. That is arithmetic, not a judgement about the neighbourhood.

Our response is to publish the coverage position rather than imply it is universal. The table sets out, by course, how a match typically resolves for a family in this part of New Dubai and what we tell you when the answer is no. No competitor page found in this market discloses a coverage limit, which is exactly why ours is worth reading before you book anything.

The right question to ask any provider is therefore not whether they have somebody nearby. It is which school that tutor teaches at, which papers they have marked, and whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit. Those three answers are checkable; a pin on a map is not.

03

How the Diploma actually scores, and what tuition can move

  • Six subjects at 7 points each, plus up to three from the core, to a maximum of 45
  • Moving 4 to 5 is usually technique; moving 6 to 7 is precision work on papers
  • Core points are won at the question-framing stage, months before the writing
  • Weekly rather than daily sessions, because unassisted practice is the mechanism

Parents often arrive wanting a higher total without a clear picture of where the total comes from. Six subjects, each marked out of 7, gives 42. Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay together contribute up to three more, to a maximum of 45. Each subject's grade is built from externally assessed papers plus an Internal Assessment marked by the teacher and externally moderated.

That structure tells you where tuition is efficient and where it is not. A student sitting on 4 in a Higher Level science is usually losing marks to technique, which responds to a term of focused work. A student sitting on 6 and wanting 7 is a different project: the final boundary is won on precision, data-booklet discipline and extended-response structure, and it takes paper-by-paper work rather than more content.

The core is the most undervalued part of the total. Up to three points sits in two pieces of work that are planned and written over many months, and both are highly coachable at the framing stage without anyone crossing an honesty line. A badly framed Extended Essay question cannot be rescued in April; a well-framed one makes the writing straightforward.

What tuition cannot do is change an Internal Assessment after submission, or substitute for the student's own attempt at a problem. We say no to both, and the second one is the reason we keep sessions weekly rather than daily: a student needs unassisted practice between lessons, because the unassisted attempt is where the learning actually happens.

04

Middle Years Programme criteria, by letter

Middle Years Programme reports confuse parents more than any other document in Dubai schooling, because the numbers look like marks and behave like something else. Each subject group is assessed against four criteria, lettered A to D, each scored on a published band, with the classroom teacher writing task-specific clarifications that say what the criterion means for that particular piece of work.

The useful consequence is diagnostic. A student scoring consistently well on knowledge and understanding and consistently badly on the criterion that asks for evaluation or reflection has a very specific, very fixable problem: they are writing what they know instead of what the criterion asked for. Nobody has usually told them that, because the criterion language is written for teachers.

This is why Middle Years Programme tuition should be short and targeted. Four to six sessions, working from the teacher's own clarifications and the student's own returned tasks, usually moves the weak criterion. Then it should stop. A standing weekly slot through Years 7 to 9 is rarely the right answer and is the most common way money gets wasted in this part of the market.

One Dubai-specific point: Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies run alongside the Middle Years Programme in all Dubai private schools under KHDA requirements, with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students. That is additional timetable load which the programme brochure does not show, and it is worth factoring in before adding a weekly tuition commitment.

05

What IB tuition costs around here, and what you are paying for

Begin with what the travel premium buys, because that is the comparison a Jumeirah Golf Estates family is implicitly making. An in-home one-to-one visit in Dubai is advertised at roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel, with one provider publishing monthly packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions against AED 799 for eight online sessions. The difference is a car, not teaching minutes.

Against that, a qualified subject tutor working online is advertised at about AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, with one agency listing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. IB and IGCSE specialists are quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, one UK-based agency at AED 270, and premium named or examiner-led provision as high as AED 650. Budget online tuition, typically a university student, runs from AED 45 to AED 150. Monthly estimates for a weekly hour run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support.

All of those figures were researched in October 2026 from the providers and rate surveys named, and they describe the market rather than IB Gram. Our own fee is quoted after the free trial lesson. What we will not do is publish a price we cannot explain or a package whose conditions are not on the same screen as the word free.

One piece of budget context worth having: KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. School fees are the fixed line in your planning this year; tuition is the one you control.

Internal Assessment weeks: where families get into trouble

  • A tutor teaches, questions, marks against criteria and gives feedback on the student's own work
  • A tutor never writes, rewrites, completes or supplies the work or its data
  • Official syllabus and paper material is linked, never redistributed
  • Dated session notes are the student's protection if authenticity is queried

Every Diploma subject carries an Internal Assessment, and the weeks before the school's internal deadline are when the pressure in a household peaks. It is also when a certain kind of provider becomes very helpful. One operator in this market was found advertising completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. Buying one is academic malpractice and the consequence falls on the student, not the seller.

The boundary is clear and worth stating in plain terms. A tutor may teach the subject content, explain each assessment criterion, interrogate and narrow a research question, point out that a method will not produce analysable data, mark a draft against the criteria and say which criterion is losing marks and why, and teach referencing properly. A tutor may not write any part of the work, rewrite sentences into their own prose, hand over a finished research question, supply data the student has not collected, or edit a draft to completion.

There is a related rule about materials that parents should expect. We do not reproduce or distribute IB syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides as downloads. Tutors reference them and link to the official source. A provider offering a folder containing everything is telling you something about the rest of their practice.

One defensive habit: keep the written notes a tutor sends after each session. If authenticity is ever questioned, a dated record showing the help given was feedback on the student's own drafts is the best protection available, and it costs nothing.

07

Who is permitted to tutor in the UAE, and what nobody is approved for

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • Eligible holders include university students and 15 to 18 year-olds
  • Never engage your child's own classroom teacher as a paid private tutor
  • No individual tutor anywhere holds a KHDA licence; that permit covers premises

A proximity search returns a distance and a star rating. It does not return the one document that governs whether the person may lawfully teach your child for money, which is the private tuition work permit. That permit came in under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and is granted free of charge for two years at a time. The route to it is the MoHRE smart app, the website or the e-services system, and MoHRE's own listing for issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Nothing about a Jumeirah Golf Estates pin on a map result tells you whether any of that was ever done, so ask the tutor directly, and treat a vague reply as an answer in itself.

The eligible categories are broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Knowing that last one explains a good deal about the lower end of the rate table. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so no amount can honestly be quoted and we will not quote one.

A boundary to respect: ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction. That has been reported in the regional press and should be checked against the current ADEK policy document before being treated as exact wording. The practical rule is to never engage your child's own classroom teacher privately.

Finally, what nobody here is approved for. A tutoring business with premises in Dubai needs an Educational Services Permit for a training institute from KHDA. IB Gram holds no such permit, has no UAE office or centre, and is not accredited, licensed, approved by or partnered with KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. We name regulators to explain what they govern, which is a different thing entirely.

Starting from Jumeirah Golf Estates, and what can go wrong

  • Send the exact course, the campus, the last marked assessment and two real windows
  • Use the free trial on a question your child actually lost
  • No specialist free means a stated wait, not a substitute tutor
  • No grade, score or improvement is ever promised on any IB Gram page

The three things worth sending first are the programme and exact course, the campus and the last marked assessment, and the two or three evening windows that genuinely survive the drive and the clubs. With those, matching is usually quick. Without the third, we will propose a slot that collapses within a month and both of us will have wasted a term.

Then take the free trial lesson. Its only real purpose is to test whether this tutor can explain your child's specific confusion, so hand them a lost question from the last assessment beforehand. A trial spent on introductions tells you nothing you could not have read on a profile.

What can go wrong, said honestly. Sometimes no specialist in the exact course is free in your windows, particularly for Higher Level Physics close to the May session and for Theory of Knowledge support; you get the wait and, where the available tutor is outside the UAE, you are told that before paying. Sometimes the match is wrong on personality, and we change the tutor without arguing. And sometimes the diagnosis is wrong: a student described as weak in a subject turns out to be losing marks on reading questions, which is a different and shorter piece of work.

Nothing here is a promise about a grade. We publish no guaranteed outcomes, no satisfaction percentages without a sample size and method, and no self-asserted ratings. In this market, the absence of those claims is itself a useful signal.

Where we tutor

Where IB students from Jumeirah Golf Estates actually travel

These are the directions a Jumeirah Golf Estates family drives in for IB provision, and what each run does to the evening. The pattern is consistent: the IB campuses are a ring further out than the nearest schools.

Al Barsha South

Fifteen to twenty-five minutes via Hessa Street or the Al Khail junction, and home to IB continuum provision. The commonest Diploma run from this community, and the reason a 6.30pm session start is normal rather than lazy.

JVT and JVC

Twelve to twenty minutes, with several campuses offering the Diploma alongside British-curriculum routes. Traffic through the Al Khail interchange is the variable, not the distance.

The Meadows

Twenty minutes east, adjacent to an IB continuum campus, so a family here can have Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma children in one school. Arrival home clusters around 4.20pm, giving a workable 6pm start.

Arabian Ranches

Twenty to thirty minutes and the location of long-established Diploma provision. Two school runs in this direction in one afternoon is common where siblings are split across campuses.

Emirates Hills

Short drive, narrow exit. The school belt on its Meadows boundary draws Jumeirah Golf Estates students and reliably adds fifteen minutes to the afternoon leg.

Al Sufouh

Thirty to thirty-five minutes down Al Khail or Sheikh Zayed Road, where several long-standing international campuses sit. A Diploma student on this run is not home before 4.30pm on a good day.

Dubai Sports City

Adjacent to Jumeirah Golf Estates and the reason sessions here so often start at 7pm. Clubs and academies occupy the hour that looks free on a timetable.

Jumeirah Park

The nearest community with a school inside it, British curriculum rather than IB. Useful to know because it is where the gate queue happens for many families here even when the IB child is going elsewhere.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the programme and the exact course

Middle Years Programme criteria coaching and Diploma Higher Level teaching are different jobs needing different tutors. Tell us the programme, the subject, the level and the year group. If you are unsure which Mathematics route your child is on, the school's subject-choice form states it plainly.

  2. 02

Tell us which campus and when it finishes

The drive from Jumeirah Golf Estates to Al Barsha South is not the drive to Arabian Ranches, and the difference decides the session slot. Give us the campus, the finish time and which afternoons already have a club in Dubai Sports City, and we will propose a time that survives the term.

  3. 03

    Send the last marked work

A returned Middle Years Programme task with criteria scores, or a marked Diploma mock, tells a tutor more in ten minutes than a conversation does in an hour. It is usually what reveals that the problem is one criterion or one technique rather than a subject.

  4. 04

Take the free trial on a real problem

You and your child meet the proposed specialist over live video. Give them the question that was lost. Afterwards you get their own read on what is happening and a plan with a session count, and you decide. No payment is required to reach this point.

  5. 05

Fix the slot and set the end date

We book a recurring weekly time, because continuity with one tutor is what moves grades. We also agree when it stops, whether that is after a core-component deadline or at study leave, so the arrangement is reviewed deliberately rather than renewed by habit.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Scheduled from the school day, not from a map

The slots proposed to Jumeirah Golf Estates families come from real finish times, gate queues and the Sports City club schedule. That is why a session here usually starts at 6.30pm or later, and why it is still running in March when earlier-looking arrangements have quietly stopped.

Matched by programme, not just subject

A Middle Years Programme criteria problem needs a teacher fluent in task-specific clarifications. A Diploma Paper 3 problem needs somebody who has marked one. We staff for the difference, which is why we ask which programme before we ask anything about grades.

Honest about what is near you

There are very few Higher Level science specialists inside a short drive of this community, and we publish that rather than implying otherwise. Where the available tutor is outside the UAE, you are told before paying. Disclosing a coverage limit costs bookings and is the reason the ones we take work.

Online delivery, said up front

Lessons are live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram makes no home visits in the UAE; in-person home tutoring exists only in our India service. You read that before booking, and no UAE enquiry is routed to a non-UAE number.

The coursework line is explicit

Tutors teach, question, mark against published criteria and give feedback on the student's own work. They never write, rewrite or complete an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay. In a market where finished IAs are openly sold, that is worth stating rather than assuming.

Attributed figures only

Every AED rate on this page belongs to a named provider or rate survey, with the research date given, and our own fee is quoted after the trial. No invented statistics, no self-asserted star ratings, no claim without a sample size, a date and a method.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Golf Estates: your questions answered

Is there an IB tutor near me in Jumeirah Golf Estates who comes to the house?+

Not through IB Gram. We teach Jumeirah Golf Estates students one-to-one over live video at a fixed weekly time in Gulf Standard Time, and we make no home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-person home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Independent in-home tutors do operate in this part of Dubai, at published market rates of roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel. What you gain by dropping the visit is a tutor chosen for the exact course your child sits rather than for how far they live from the Earth course.

Which schools near Jumeirah Golf Estates actually teach the IB?+

Not the closest ones. The immediate ring around this community is largely British curriculum, and IB provision sits a ring further out: fifteen to twenty-five minutes towards Al Barsha South and JVT, or twenty to thirty minutes towards the Meadows, Emirates Hills and Arabian Ranches. That extra distance is the main reason IB families here report later homework starts than their neighbours. Schools are named on this page only to describe the local environment; IB Gram has no affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any of them, and none is a client.

What is a realistic session time for an IB student living in Jumeirah Golf Estates?+

Between 6pm and 8.15pm on weekdays, and the later end of that if there is a club involved. Work it out from your own row: campus finish, ten to twenty minutes of gate queue, twelve to thirty-five minutes of driving, then twenty minutes before a teenager is useful. A Diploma student travelling from Al Barsha South is rarely settled before 4.40pm, and the first pass at school homework should come before tuition, not after. Weekend mornings are the most underused slot here and the best one for Extended Essay work.

Should tuition come before or after my child's own homework?+

After, in almost every case. A student who has already attempted the problem set arrives with a specific confusion, and a specific confusion is what a subject specialist can resolve in forty minutes. A session scheduled before homework tends to become supervised homework, which is a low-value use of a Higher Level teacher and builds dependence rather than technique. The exception is the week before a mock, when working straight through a past paper under timed conditions is more useful than anything the school has set.

How are IB Diploma points actually made up?+

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, each marked out of 7, giving 42. Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay together contribute up to three more, to a maximum of 45. Each subject grade combines externally assessed papers with an Internal Assessment marked by the teacher and externally moderated. Knowing the structure tells you where effort pays: moving a 4 to a 5 is usually technique work, moving a 6 to a 7 is precision on papers, and the core points are won months earlier at the question-framing stage.

My child's MYP report has numbers I do not understand. What are they?+

Each Middle Years Programme subject is assessed against four criteria, lettered A to D, each scored on a published band, with the teacher writing task-specific clarifications describing what the criterion means for that task. The numbers are criterion scores, not percentages. They are extremely useful diagnostically: a student strong on knowing and understanding but weak on the thinking-critically criterion is describing where evaluation was wanted. That is a reading-the-task problem, usually fixable in four to six sessions, after which the tuition should stop rather than continue.

How much does IB tuition cost for a family in this part of New Dubai?+

Market research across published UAE provider pages in October 2026 found qualified online subject tutors at roughly AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, IB and IGCSE specialists at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, in-home visits including travel at AED 180 to AED 500, budget online tuition from AED 45 to AED 150, and premium examiner-led provision quoted as high as AED 650. Monthly estimates for a weekly hour run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work. Those are market figures, not IB Gram's prices.

Is the in-home premium worth paying for a Diploma student?+

Rarely, and the reason is arithmetic rather than principle. The gap between an online qualified tutor at AED 150 to AED 300 and an in-home visit at AED 180 to AED 500 is travel time, not teaching time. In this community that travel is substantial, and it also shrinks the pool of tutors to those willing to make the drive, which is exactly the wrong constraint for a Higher Level science. For a Primary Years child the in-person advantages are real and we would say so; from Year 10 upwards the tutor's subject knowledge dominates.

Which IB exam session do Dubai students sit, and when should support start?+

UAE schools sit the May session. We deliberately publish no IB examination or results dates here, because ibo.org blocks automated verification and an unchecked date is worse than none; get yours from your school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org. On timing, work backwards: Internal Assessment deadlines are set by the school and sit a term or more ahead of the papers, mocks sit roughly a term ahead, and the last eight weeks belong to past papers under timed conditions. Beginning after mocks means several useful levers have already gone.

Where does Extended Essay help stop being allowed?+

Yes, and the most valuable help comes earliest. A tutor can interrogate and narrow the research question until the available evidence can actually answer it, check that a method will produce usable material, explain what each criterion rewards, mark a draft against those criteria, and teach citation properly. A tutor cannot write or rewrite any part of it, supply a finished question, provide data the student has not gathered, or edit it to completion. Our tutors decline requests that cross that boundary, and a badly framed question is not rescuable in the final month.

Does my child still have to take Arabic alongside the IB in Dubai?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, under KHDA requirements implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students, with Standard Arabic as the language of instruction for Arabic as a first language and for Islamic Education for Arab students. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. Because outside content for these subjects needs Ministry of Education permission, support follows the school's own material.

How do I tell whether a tutor really knows the IB or just the subject?+

Ask three concrete questions during the free trial. Which papers does this subject have, and what is each worth at my child's level? What are the Internal Assessment criteria for it, by letter, and what are the mark allocations? And can you mark this specific lost question and tell me what the mark scheme wanted? A specialist answers the first two without hesitation and the third with a mark scheme open. A capable generalist will talk about confidence and study skills instead, which is a different and much cheaper service.

Can sessions move during Ramadan or around school deadlines?+

Yes, and it is the clearest practical benefit of online delivery here. Sessions shift to post-Iftar timing through Ramadan, move within the week when an Internal Assessment deadline or a tournament collides, and pause through mock and final examination weeks. None of that requires anyone's round trip to be renegotiated, so it is usually settled in the same week. We also agree a stop date at the outset, typically a named deadline or study leave, so the commitment is reviewed deliberately rather than renewed by default.

What happens if no tutor is free for my child's Higher Level subject?+

You are told the realistic wait, offered a shorter diagnostic block in the meantime if that is useful, and told where the available specialist is based if they are outside the UAE, all before any payment. Availability is thinnest for Higher Level Physics in the weeks before the May session, for Computer Science, and for Theory of Knowledge support. What we will not do is put a generalist in front of a Higher Level student and let the term run. No competitor page in this market publishes a coverage limit, which is why ours is here.

Does IB Gram hold any IB or KHDA approval I should be looking for?+

No, and treat that claim as a warning wherever you meet it. IB Gram is not accredited, licensed, approved by or partnered with the IB, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson. We hold no KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is the permit issued specifically to training institutes with premises in Dubai, and we operate no UAE office or centre. Regulators are named on this page to explain what each governs. No individual tutor anywhere holds a KHDA licence, because that permit covers premises rather than people.

Plan the slot, then pick the specialist

Searching for an IB tutor near me in Jumeirah Golf Estates is a reasonable instinct and the wrong first move. Start with the school day instead: the campus, the finish time, the drive, and the two evening windows that survive the clubs. Then pick the person who teaches your child's exact course, wherever they are. Send us the programme, the level, the last marked assessment and those windows, and we will propose a specialist you can test in a free trial lesson over live video. No home visits in the UAE, no promised grades, and no figure here we cannot attribute.
