IGCSE Tutor near me in Dubai Internet City

Searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Dubai Internet City usually returns a list of people sorted by postcode. This page sorts them by syllabus instead. Your child sits a numbered paper set — 0580, 0625, 0620, 4MA1 — and the grade turns on how those papers are marked, not on who lives nearest the Al Sufouh tram. IB Gram matches a specialist for that exact code and teaches one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Matched by syllabus code, not by driving distance from Al Sufouh
  • Cambridge 0580, 0625, 0620, 0450 and Pearson 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 covered

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Internet City

The search says "near me". The grade is decided by a syllabus code

Dubai Internet City is a free-zone office district with residential towers folded into it, sitting between Knowledge Park, Al Sufouh and the Marina. Families here live within a tram ride of a dense British-curriculum school cluster, and that is exactly why the phrase "IGCSE tutor near me" is such a misleading way to shop. Proximity is easy to supply in this part of Dubai. Syllabus accuracy is not.

Here is the thing that search cannot tell you. Two children in neighbouring towers can both be "doing IGCSE Maths" and be sitting entirely different qualifications. One is entered for Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 on the Extended tier, two papers, no coursework, calculator allowed on both. The other is entered for Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics Specification A, 4MA1, Higher tier, also two papers, but with a different formula sheet convention and a different style of command-term wording in the mark scheme. A tutor who has taught one and not the other will prepare your child for the wrong traps.

The same split runs through the sciences. Cambridge IGCSE Physics is 0625; Pearson's is 4PH1. Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry is 0620; Pearson's is 4CH1. Cambridge Biology is 0610. Cambridge separates Core and Extended tiers and sets an alternative-to-practical paper as well as a practical option; Pearson International GCSE science does not tier the same way and assesses practical skills inside the written papers. Both are respectable routes. They are not interchangeable in a revision plan.

So this page is written from the syllabus up. It names the codes, sets out how each paper is weighted, lists the places the mark schemes punish students who know the content but answer the wrong question, and explains what past-paper work actually looks like when it is done properly rather than as a pile of downloaded PDFs. The cost section publishes what the Dubai market charges in AED, with the sources attributed, because three of the six pages ranking for this query publish no price at all, and two of the remaining three quote in US dollars, which is not a currency any Dubai family settles a tuition invoice in.

One point to settle early, because it affects every other decision. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; that is a service offered only in India. Lessons for a family in Dubai Internet City are delivered one-to-one over live video, with a shared screen and a tablet the tutor writes on. That is a deliberate trade. It widens the pool from the handful of qualified 0620 teachers who happen to live within a twenty-minute drive of Al Sufouh to every specialist available on Gulf Standard Time, and it removes travel cost from the hourly rate.

At a glance

  • Cambridge IGCSE Maths 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are different papers with different mark-scheme habits
  • Cambridge tiers Core and Extended; the tier sets the grade ceiling before revision starts
  • UAE candidates sit the June and November Cambridge series — the February/March series is offered in India only
  • MoE equivalency counts five accredited IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic Education
  • Market rates in Dubai for a qualified online IGCSE tutor run roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour
  • A tutor reviews and gives feedback on coursework; the written work stays the student's own

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Schools around Dubai Internet City and Al Sufouh run IGCSE as the Year 10 and 11 qualification, then split into A Level or the IB Diploma. These are the three stages a tutor is asked to cover for families in this cluster, and what each one actually demands.

Cambridge IGCSE

Cambridge IGCSE is examined subject by subject, each with its own four-digit syllabus code. Most subjects offer Core and Extended tiers; Core caps at grade C or 5, Extended runs the full A* to G or 9 to 1 range. Papers are sat in the June and November series. Coursework exists in some subjects and not others, and most Dubai schools choose the non-coursework route, which pushes every mark onto timed written papers.

Cambridge allocates every exam centre to one of six administrative zones and publishes a separate timetable per zone. The guidance is blunt: use the correct version for your zone, because Cambridge cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses an exam after reading the wrong one. Families near Dubai Internet City should take the window from their own school's exams officer rather than from a UK-facing revision site.

INTL GCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Pearson's International GCSE uses specification codes beginning with a 4 — 4MA1 Maths A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology. Maths Specification A tiers into Foundation and Higher. Exams run in the May/June and November windows each year. Some subjects are modular, meaning units can be sat across sittings and the best result carried, which changes how a two-year plan is sequenced compared with Cambridge.

Pearson's published history gives families a reliable sense of the lag between paper and result. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students the next day. Check the live official timetable, because provisional versions are revised.

What comes after IGCSE in this cluster

Schools in the Al Sufouh and Emirates Hills belt split at 16. Some continue to A Level, some into the IB Diploma Programme, and a few offer both. The IGCSE grades a child earns in Year 11 are the entry currency for either route: a school will usually want a 7 or above in Extended Maths before letting a student into Maths AA Higher Level or A Level Further Maths.

This matters locally because the cluster around Dubai Internet City contains both kinds of sixth form within a few kilometres. A family can genuinely choose, and the choice is easier to make in Year 10 than in the week results arrive. A tutor who knows both post-16 routes can tell you which IGCSE subjects to protect and which can safely be allowed to land a grade lower.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IGCSE subjects most often requested by families in the Dubai Internet City, Knowledge Park and Al Sufouh cluster, with the syllabus code and the specific place marks go missing in each one.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580)

Core and Extended

Two papers, both calculator-permitted on the current syllabus. Extended candidates lose most marks on functions, transformations of graphs and the harder end of probability. The recurring error is method shown too thinly to earn method marks when the final answer is wrong.

Mathematics A (Pearson 4MA1)

Foundation and Higher

Two papers of equal weight. Higher-tier candidates come unstuck on surds, iterative methods and vector proof. Pearson's mark schemes are generous to correct working and unforgiving to answers with no supporting line, so the fix is almost always presentation rather than content.

Physics (Cambridge 0625)

Core and Extended

Extended candidates sit a theory paper, a multiple-choice paper and either a practical or the alternative-to-practical paper. Marks drain away on electrical circuit reasoning, moments and the difference between describing and explaining a graph gradient.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620)

Core and Extended

Moles and reacting-mass calculations carry a large share of the Extended grade and are where weaker candidates stop writing. Organic chemistry nomenclature and the electrolysis of molten versus aqueous compounds are the other two reliable sources of lost marks.

Biology (Cambridge 0610)

Core and Extended

The content is wide and the papers reward precision of vocabulary over volume. Candidates who write "the plant makes food" instead of naming photosynthesis, the reactants and the site of the reaction lose marks they believe they have earned.

Combined and Co-ordinated Science

Double and single award

Many schools in this cluster enter mid-ability candidates for a combined science award rather than three separate sciences. The content is reduced but the paper structure differs, so revising from separate-science past papers wastes time on topics that will not appear.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510/0511)

Core and Extended

Common in this school cluster, where many pupils are strong speakers but score below their ability on the reading-and-writing paper. The summary task and the register of the directed-writing task are the two components a tutor can lift quickly.

English Language (Cambridge 0500)

Single tier

Directed writing and composition reward control of structure and a deliberate register. Candidates who treat the extended-response question as a chance to write beautifully, rather than to answer the question asked, cap themselves at the middle bands.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

The case-study paper is where grades are decided. Students who define terms correctly but never apply them to the named business in the insert lose the application and evaluation marks, which together outweigh the knowledge marks.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Diagram accuracy is non-negotiable: axes labelled, curves named, shifts shown with arrows and a new equilibrium marked. Four-mark explain questions want a chain of reasoning, not a list, and that chain is a teachable habit.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

Popular with families working in the free zone. Pseudocode questions reward a consistent convention and a dry-run table; the theory paper punishes vague answers about data representation and network layers.

Arabic as an additional language

MoE mandatory stream

Every Dubai private school must teach Arabic regardless of the licensed international curriculum. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, and the non-Arab stream is where most families in this cluster sit. Support here is about weekly consolidation, not exam cramming.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways families in this belt use IGCSE tuition. All three run one-to-one over live video, because that is the only delivery format IB Gram operates in the UAE.

Weekly syllabus-paced one-to-one

One or two sessions a week running a week or two behind the school's scheme of work, so the tutor consolidates what has just been taught rather than previewing it. This is the format that suits a Year 10 who is coping but not confident, and it is the cheapest per unit of grade movement because nothing has to be rebuilt later.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, same slot each week
  • Tutor works from the school's own topic sequence
  • Short written task between sessions, marked to the real mark scheme
  • Tier recommendation given in writing by the end of Year 10

Paper-technique block before a series

A six to ten week block in the run-up to the June or November papers, built entirely around timed questions. The content is assumed; the work is on reading command terms accurately, allocating minutes by marks, and showing method in the form the mark scheme rewards. This is where a child who knows the subject but scores two grades below their mock potential makes up ground.

  • Full papers sat under timed conditions, then marked line by line
  • Error log kept by topic and by error type, not just by score
  • Command-term drills: state, describe, explain, calculate, evaluate
  • Final two sessions spent only on the question types still costing marks

Single-topic repair sessions

Some children do not need a programme. They need moles, or electricity, or transformations, fixed properly once. A short series of two to four sessions on one topic, with a diagnostic question set at the start and the same set re-sat at the end, is often all that is required and is the honest recommendation when it is.

  • Diagnostic first, so the real gap is found rather than assumed
  • Two to four sessions, then a clear stop
  • Re-test on the same question set to prove the repair held
  • No pressure to convert into a weekly booking

Arabic and UAE mandatory-subject support

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies run alongside the IGCSE curriculum in every Dubai private school. These are not examined as IGCSEs for most pupils in this cluster, but they appear on the school report and they take weekly time. Support here is steady consolidation at the level the school teaches.

  • Separate streams for Arabic as a first and as an additional language
  • Pitched at the school's own scheme, not a parallel curriculum
  • Weekly rather than exam-block delivery
  • Scheduled around, not instead of, core IGCSE subjects

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Internet City

01

What an IGCSE tutor near me in Dubai Internet City search actually returns

Type the phrase and you get three kinds of result. The first is a marketplace listing freelance tutors by distance, with no indication of which exam board any of them has taught. The second is an agency page that names the area in an H1 and then says nothing about it again. The third is a tuition centre in another part of Dubai hoping the area name is close enough. None of the three answers the question a parent is really asking, which is: can this person teach the specific paper my child is entered for?

The reason distance ranks so highly is historical. These queries were built for a market where a tutor drove to the villa, so proximity was a hard constraint and the search engine learned to treat it as the main signal. That constraint has gone for anything taught at a desk with a shared screen. What remains is the signal that was always the real one: does the tutor know the code, the papers and the mark scheme.

The table below sets out what each result type actually gives you and where it falls short, using only things a parent can check before paying anybody. Every row is a test you can run in a ten-minute phone call.

Our honest position: for a family in Dubai Internet City, the right question is not who is nearest. It is who has marked enough 0580 Paper 4 scripts to know that the functions question is where your child's two grades are hiding.

The syllabus codes behind every IGCSE grade in this cluster

A code is not administrative trivia. It determines how many papers your child sits, how long each one is, what proportion of the grade each carries, whether a calculator is allowed, and whether practical skills are assessed in a separate paper or inside the theory. Two children revising the same topic from the same textbook can need completely different practice because they are entered for different codes.

Find the code first. It is printed on the statement of entry the school issues, usually in the term before the series. If you cannot find that, the exams officer can tell you in a sentence, and most will also confirm the tier in the same reply. Any tutor who does not ask for both in the first conversation is guessing, and guessing in this market is expensive, because the wrong practice feels like progress right up until the paper.

The table maps the codes most used by schools around Al Sufouh and Internet City. Paper structures are summarised; the official syllabus document on the board's own site is the authority and should be the thing you check against, because specifications are revised and a page like this one can only be a signpost.

The practical consequence for revision is simple. A Cambridge 0625 candidate needs the alternative-to-practical paper drilled as its own discipline, because it tests experimental reasoning in a style no theory paper replicates. A Pearson 4PH1 candidate does not sit that paper and should spend the same hours on extended-calculation questions instead.

Where IGCSE marks are actually lost, by paper and by habit

  • Maths: method not shown, so a final-answer slip takes the whole question down
  • Chemistry: moles calculations abandoned rather than attempted in parts
  • Physics: graph gradients described instead of explained with a physical cause
  • Biology: everyday vocabulary used where the mark scheme needs a named term
  • Business and Economics: definitions correct but never applied to the named case
  • All papers: last page blank because minutes were spent unevenly

Marks leave a script in patterns, and the patterns repeat across cohorts. After enough marked papers the list becomes short and predictable, which is good news: a predictable loss is a fixable one. Almost none of it is about content the student has never met. Most of it is about answering a different question from the one printed.

The largest single cause is command-term misreading. State wants a bare fact and no justification. Describe wants what happens. Explain wants why, with a mechanism. Calculate wants a numerical answer with units and working. Evaluate wants a judgement supported by both sides. A student who explains when asked to state wastes time; one who describes when asked to explain loses the mark entirely. This is a reading habit, and it is trainable in about four sessions.

The second cause is method economy. Children who are good at mental arithmetic write less down, and then a slip in the final line costs them every mark on the question rather than one. The mark scheme is built to reward visible steps. Writing more is not a style preference here; it is the mechanism by which partial credit exists.

The third is time allocation. A paper marked out of 80 over 90 minutes gives you a little over a minute per mark. Students routinely spend fifteen minutes on a four-mark question they find interesting and then leave eleven marks blank at the end. A tutor can fix this with a stopwatch and two papers, and it is often worth more than another month of content revision.

04

Past-paper work done properly, not just downloaded

  • Sit to the real clock, including reading time, in one sitting
  • Mark against the official mark scheme, not a model answer
  • Classify each lost mark by cause, then count the causes
  • Re-sit the same question type a fortnight later to prove the fix held

Most families already have past papers. Very few are getting much from them. A paper sat without timing, marked against an answer key rather than a mark scheme, and then filed away, produces a score and no information. Done properly, the same paper produces a list of specific, repairable errors, which is the only output worth the three hours it takes.

The method that works is unglamorous and has four steps. Sit the paper to the real clock. Mark it against the official mark scheme, awarding each mark exactly as written, including the method marks the student thinks they do not deserve. Classify every lost mark by cause — content gap, command-term misread, method not shown, arithmetic slip, ran out of time. Then attack only the largest category in the next session.

That classification step is the one families skip and the one that carries all the value. A student losing 18 marks to timing and 4 to content does not need more content. Treating every low score as a knowledge problem is the most common waste of money in this market, and it feels productive, which is why it persists.

One boundary matters here as well. The boards hold copyright in their papers and in their mark schemes. A tutor should work from the official source on the board's own site, or through the school's own access, and should not be distributing packs of reproduced material to families. Reference it, link to it, mark against it — but do not supply it as a download.

05

What IGCSE tutoring costs around Dubai Internet City, and what you can verify

Start with what a parent can check rather than with a headline rate. Every figure below was published by the provider named next to it, and you can open those pages yourself. That is the test this market mostly fails: three of the six pages competing for this search publish no price at all, and two of the three that do quote in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays tuition in.

Read from the cheapest row upward. Budget online tuition, typically delivered by a university student, is quoted from AED 45 to 65 by EdFlik and from AED 33 to 52 by Tutopiya. A qualified subject tutor working online sits in the AED 150 to 300 band, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home one-to-one, travel included, is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate's Dubai rate table, with independent home tutors asking AED 200 to 500. Specialist IGCSE and A Level tutors run AED 200 to 450 and above; TutorChase publishes AED 270. At the top, BartyED publishes AED 650.

Monthly packages circulating in this market include roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support.

None of these are IB Gram's prices. They are the market, published so you can judge any quote against it. For what a match actually costs in your child's subject and tier, the honest route is the free trial lesson and the consultation that follows, because the answer depends on the subject, the tier and how many weeks are left before the series.

Online versus a tutor driving to Al Sufouh: the arithmetic

This is the comparison most families in Dubai Internet City are actually making, so it deserves numbers rather than adjectives. An in-home tutor prices travel into the hourly rate whether or not the invoice says so. On the Dubai figures above, the in-home band starts about AED 30 an hour above the qualified online band and tops out considerably higher. Over a two-year IGCSE course at one session a week, that gap is real money.

Travel also shapes the timetable. A tutor crossing from Mirdif or Al Qusais to Al Sufouh at 17:00 is committing an hour and a half to deliver sixty minutes. That tutor will reasonably take the booking that minimises driving, which means the slots available to you are the ones nobody nearer wanted. An online tutor on Gulf Standard Time has no travel to recover and can hold a 19:30 Tuesday slot indefinitely.

Then there is the pool. The number of people within a twenty-minute drive of Internet City who have taught Cambridge 0620 Extended to a high standard is small. The number available on Gulf Standard Time is not. For a mainstream subject the difference is modest; for a specific tier of a specific code in a specific board, it is the whole decision.

The honest case against online is also worth stating. A child who will not sit still at a screen, or who has no quiet corner in a shared tower apartment, will do better with a person in the room. IB Gram does not offer that in the UAE, and if that is your child, a local in-home tutor is the right answer and we will say so.

The IGCSE exam calendar counted backwards from the paper

Nobody competing for this search publishes a calendar, which is odd, because the single most useful thing a parent can know is how early the decisions get made. Entries close months before the paper. Tier choices are made before that. By the time revision feels urgent, several options have already closed.

The fixed points for UAE candidates are the June series and the November series for Cambridge, and the May/June and November windows for Pearson Edexcel International GCSE. The February/March Cambridge series is offered to India only and is not available to candidates sitting in Dubai, which is worth knowing because a great deal of online revision content is written for it.

Work backwards from the paper. The exam window itself is published per Cambridge administrative zone, and your school's exams officer holds the correct one — Cambridge is explicit that using the wrong zone timetable is the candidate's risk. Before that come internal mocks, usually a full term ahead. Before those, the final entry deadline, which is where tier changes stop being possible. And before everything, the tier decision itself.

The dates that can be stated with confidence are the ones already past, because they are checkable. Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. For the series ahead, read the live official timetable on the board's own site; provisional versions get revised, which is why no page should restate them.

KHDA, the school report and what an inspection band means

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually and publishes a band for each school. Reading that report properly tells you more about your child's chances than any league table.

The bands run from Outstanding down through Very Good, Good, Acceptable, Weak and Very Weak. What matters for tutoring decisions is not the overall label but the subject-level and phase-level detail inside the report. A school rated Very Good overall can carry an Acceptable judgement for secondary mathematics attainment, and that is precisely the signal a Year 10 parent should act on.

Scale context helps too. KHDA figures for 2024-25 record 387,441 pupils across 227 private schools in Dubai, offering 17 different curricula, with UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26, US at 14 and the International Baccalaureate at 7. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools and 16,846 places.

One line for clarity, because competitors blur it. KHDA regulates schools and issues educational services permits to training institutes with premises. IB Gram holds no such permit and makes no claim to KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry of Education, IB, Cambridge or Pearson approval or accreditation. Naming a regulator and explaining what it does is useful; implying it endorses a tutoring platform would not be true.

09

Academic honesty: what an IGCSE tutor may and may not touch

  • A tutor teaches, models, questions and gives feedback
  • A tutor does not supply text that will be submitted as the student's own
  • Official materials get referenced and linked, never redistributed
  • If an offer sounds like finished work, it is a malpractice risk to your child

This matters more in this market than most parents realise, because there are operators in this SERP selling completed assessed work. One sells finished Internal Assessments outright. That is an integrity breach that puts the student, not the seller, at risk of losing a qualification, and no reputable tutor goes anywhere near it.

The boundary is clear and easy to police. A tutor may teach the content, model a technique on a different example, explain a mark scheme, discuss a plan the student has drafted, and give feedback on work the student has written. A tutor may not write, redraft to completion, or supply text for anything that will be submitted as the student's own. Coursework in IGCSE subjects that still carry it falls squarely inside that rule.

In practice the honest version is also the more useful one. A student who is talked through why their conclusion does not follow from their data learns something that transfers to the next piece of work. A student handed a better conclusion learns nothing and cannot reproduce it under exam conditions, which is where most of the grade actually sits.

The same restraint applies to materials. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to the boards. They should be referenced and linked from the board's own site, used with the school's permission, and never redistributed as downloads. Any tutor offering you a pack of reproduced board material is telling you something about how they operate.

MoE equivalency: the five-subject rule that decides UAE university entry

Families in this cluster often plan on a UK or North American university and then find a UAE option is attractive after all. At that point the Ministry of Education equivalency rules become the thing that matters, and they are badly covered across this market — one ranking competitor publishes the wrong subject count.

For the British track, the published requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no less than E or grade 3, plus proof of either one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. A competitor page stating that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects is simply wrong.

For the American track, English proficiency is evidenced by an IELTS Academic score of 5, a TOEFL iBT score of 61, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT; mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. No IB points threshold is published in that source, so no figure for the IB route is stated here — check moe.gov.ae or the attestation authority directly.

Two cautions. IB Gram does not perform, submit or guarantee equivalency or attestation; it is a Ministry process and parents should use the official channel. And tutoring is not required for equivalency — it helps a child reach the grades, nothing more. Anyone implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency about a regulatory process.

Is the tutor legally permitted to teach in the UAE?

  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free and valid for two years
  • Introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • Applied for via the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services, two working days stated
  • No fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you

Hardly anyone in this market mentions this, and parents should ask. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, administered through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and it is granted free of charge for two years. Anyone who tells you the permit carries a fee is wrong.

The eligible categories are wide: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. The official route is MoHRE's own service, listed as issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system, with a stated two working day completion time.

Two consequences for a Dubai Internet City family. First, individuals providing private lessons without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so any specific figure you see quoted should be treated with suspicion. Second, there are conduct limits — Abu Dhabi's ADEK professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction. Marketing your child's own teacher as a private tutor is not a service anyone should be offering.

An operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal again: that needs a KHDA educational services permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal. IB Gram is an online matching platform and holds no such permit, which is why it does not describe itself as KHDA approved.

Getting started, including what happens if nobody is free

The useful first conversation takes about fifteen minutes and covers four things: the exam board and syllabus code, the tier, the series your child is entered for, and the most recent marked paper with its actual score. With those four, a sensible recommendation is possible. Without them, anybody who quotes you a programme is guessing.

Then a free trial lesson, which should open with a past-paper question rather than a conversation about goals. Fifteen minutes of watching a child attempt a real question tells a tutor more than half an hour of discussion, and it tells you whether the two of them can work together. If the answer is no, the match changes and nothing has been lost.

Availability is where this market is least honest, so here is the position plainly. For mainstream IGCSE subjects at both tiers, a specialist is usually available on Gulf Standard Time within a few days. For a narrow combination — a specific tier of a less common code, in a crowded evening slot, during the weeks before a series — there may be a wait, or the only available specialist may be working from outside the UAE on the same time zone. We say which, before you book, rather than filling the slot with whoever is free.

And if the honest answer is that your child does not need a programme, that gets said too. Two sessions on moles, a re-test, and a stop is sometimes the whole intervention. A platform that cannot recommend less is not advising you.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Dubai Internet City

Dubai Internet City sits inside a tight belt of New Dubai communities that share the same school cluster and the same traffic pattern. A session time that works in one usually works across the belt, which is why the practical advice below is shared rather than area-specific.

Dubai Internet City

Free-zone offices with residential towers alongside. Parents working on site often finish between 18:00 and 19:00, which makes a 19:30 weekday slot the most commonly requested start for secondary candidates.

Dubai Knowledge Park

Immediately adjacent and served by the same tram stops. Many families here are academic staff, and the questions arriving from this area tend to be about tier choice and post-16 routes rather than basic catch-up.

Al Sufouh

Holds several of the cluster's longest-established British-curriculum schools. School-run traffic on Al Sufouh Road means a child who finishes at 15:00 may not be settled at a desk before 16:15.

Dubai Marina

Dense tower living, so study space is often a shared dining table. Online lessons work well here when the child uses headphones and a second screen rather than a phone.

JBR

Short hop from Internet City along the tram line. Weekend morning sessions are unusually popular with JBR families during the run-up to the June series.

JLT

Mixed residential and office towers on the far side of Sheikh Zayed Road. The crossing adds fifteen to twenty-five minutes at peak, which is time an online session gives straight back.

The Greens and The Views

Low-rise apartment communities with a quieter evening. Families here often run two children in sequence on the same evening, 17:00 and 18:15.

Emirates Hills and The Meadows

Villa communities feeding the same Year 11 cohorts. A 20-minute drive each way is a 40-minute tax on every hour of in-home tuition, which is the single clearest argument for the online format.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Internet City

Al Sufouh, Internet City and Knowledge Park

The schools immediately around the free zone and along Al Sufouh Road. Between them they cover IGCSE at both tiers, both main exam boards, and both post-16 routes, which is why families in this belt ask tier and board questions more often than elsewhere in Dubai.

  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Dubai College
  • American School of Dubai
  • Emirates International School Jumeirah
  • Dubai American Academy

Marina, Emirates Hills and the Lakes belt

The wider catchment reachable from Internet City in under half an hour outside peak. Several of these run IGCSE into the IB Diploma rather than A Level, which changes what a Year 11 should protect.

  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • Emirates International School Meadows
  • Regent International School
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Named schools are listed as context for the school cluster around Dubai Internet City. No affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied, and IB Gram is not connected to any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send the four facts

Board, syllabus code, tier and the most recent marked paper with its score. These four determine everything that follows, and the last one matters most because a score without a breakdown hides whether the problem is content, technique or timing.

  2. 02

    Diagnostic on a real question

The trial lesson starts with a past-paper question from the correct code, attempted live. The tutor watches where the pause happens, which is usually more informative than where the error lands. You get a written read of what the session showed.

  3. 03

Match confirmed by code, not postcode

A tutor is proposed for the specific syllabus and tier, with their subject background stated. If the right specialist is not free in your preferred slot, you are told that before booking rather than offered a substitute without comment.

  4. 04

    Weekly rhythm with marked work

A fixed slot, work set between sessions, and marking against the official mark scheme rather than an answer key. The error log is kept by cause, so the plan can change when the pattern of lost marks changes.

  5. 05

    Paper-technique block before the series

Six to ten weeks out, the work switches from content to timed papers, command-term drills and minute-per-mark discipline. The last two sessions are spent only on question types still costing marks, which is decided by the log and not by a syllabus checklist.

  6. 06

Stop when the work is done

Some repairs take four sessions. When the re-test shows the gap has closed, the recommendation is to stop, and that is said out loud. Continuing a booking that has achieved its purpose is not a service.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the syllabus code

The first question is which board and which code, because a 0580 Extended candidate and a 4MA1 Higher candidate need different practice. Matching on area alone is how a family ends up with a capable tutor preparing their child for the wrong mark scheme.

Market rates published, with sources

The AED bands on this page are attributed to the providers who published them, so you can check them. Three of the six pages competing for this search publish no price at all and two of the others quote in dollars. A price you can verify is worth more than a price that sounds good.

Online, stated plainly

IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Saying so lets the argument rest on what online one-to-one actually gives a Dubai Internet City family — a specialist for the exact code, and no travel priced into the hour.

Marked against the real mark scheme

Work set between sessions comes back marked the way a board marks it, including method marks the student assumed were lost. That is what converts a score into a list of specific repairs, which is the only useful output of a past paper.

Honest about the calendar

UAE candidates sit the June and November Cambridge series. The February/March series is offered in India only, and a page that tells a Dubai parent otherwise hands them a deadline for an exam their child cannot sit. Dates ahead are pointed to the live official timetable, not restated.

Clear academic-honesty line

A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on the student's own work. No coursework is written, completed or supplied. In a market where one operator sells finished assessed work, drawing that line in public is the point.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Internet City: your questions answered

Is there actually an IGCSE tutor near me in Dubai Internet City, or is this all online?+

It is online, and deliberately so. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE — home visits are an India-only service. Lessons for a Dubai Internet City family run one-to-one over live video with a shared screen and a writing tablet, on Gulf Standard Time. The reason is the pool: the number of people within a twenty-minute drive of the free zone who have taught Cambridge 0620 Extended well is small, while the number available on your time zone is not. You also stop paying travel inside the hourly rate, which the Dubai in-home band prices in whether or not the invoice says so.

Where is the four-digit syllabus code written down, and who at school knows it?+

It is printed on the statement of entry the school issues, usually in the term before the series, and the exams officer can confirm it in one message. Cambridge codes are four digits — 0580 Maths, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0450 Business. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE specification codes begin with a 4, such as 4MA1 and 4PH1. Get the tier as well: Core or Extended for Cambridge, Foundation or Higher for Pearson Maths A. Any tutor who does not ask for both the code and the tier in the first conversation is working from assumptions, and in this market those assumptions get expensive.

Does it really matter whether my child sits Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1?+

For revision planning, yes. Both are two-paper maths qualifications of comparable standing, but the papers differ in formula-sheet convention, in command-term phrasing, and in how the mark schemes reward partial work. Cambridge tiers into Core and Extended; Pearson Maths A tiers into Foundation and Higher. A tutor who has taught only one will drill the wrong traps. For a university application the difference is slight. For the eight weeks before the paper, when every session should be aimed at a specific question type, it is the whole plan.

When do IGCSE exams run for candidates sitting in Dubai?+

Cambridge runs a June series and a November series, and those are the two available to UAE candidates. The February/March series is offered to India only, so a great deal of online revision content aimed at that window does not apply to your child. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones with a separate timetable for each, and states that it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses an exam after using the wrong one. Take your window from your school's exams officer rather than a revision blog.

What does a qualified IGCSE tutor cost per hour in this part of Dubai?+

Working up from the cheapest: EdFlik publishes budget online tuition from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, typically delivered by university students. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 for a qualified online tutor, and the band for that tier runs to about AED 300. In-home one-to-one with travel priced in is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate, with independent home tutors asking AED 200 to 500. TutorChase publishes AED 270 for specialist work and BartyED AED 650 at the premium end. Those are market figures from the providers named, not IB Gram's prices.

My child knows the content but scores two grades below their mocks. What is going on?+

Almost always technique rather than knowledge, and it is the most fixable problem in this subject area. Three causes account for most of it. Command terms misread, so the student explains when asked to state or describes when asked to explain. Method not shown, so a slip in the final line costs every mark instead of one. Minutes allocated unevenly, so eleven marks sit blank on the last page. Mark two full papers and classify every lost mark by cause, and the pattern names itself. A block of timed paper work usually moves more grade than another month of content revision.

Which IGCSE subjects do families around Al Sufouh and Knowledge Park ask for most?+

Extended Mathematics first, by a wide margin, followed by Chemistry and Physics at Extended tier. English as a Second Language comes next and is often underestimated: many pupils in this cluster speak fluently and still score below their ability on the reading and writing paper, where the summary task and the register of the directed writing are the recoverable marks. Business Studies and Economics arrive later, usually when a case-study paper has gone badly. Computer Science is more common here than across Dubai generally, which is unsurprising given who works in the free zone.

Should my child sit Core or Extended, and when is that decided?+

Usually during Year 10, by the school with parents consulted, and it is the single most consequential academic decision of the course. Core caps at grade C or 5; Extended runs the full range. Entering a struggling candidate for Extended in hope produces a low grade rather than a high one, while entering a capable candidate for Core removes the grades a competitive sixth form wants to see. The decision should rest on marked papers at both tiers, not on optimism. Once the final entry deadline passes, changing tier stops being straightforward.

How many IGCSE subjects does UAE Ministry of Education equivalency actually require?+

Five. The published requirement for the British track is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no less than E or grade 3, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among those five. Alongside that, students must show one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. One page currently ranking for these searches states six subjects, which is wrong. IB Gram does not perform or guarantee equivalency; verify through the Ministry's own channel before acting.

Can a tutor help with IGCSE coursework where the subject still has it?+

Up to a clear line, yes. A tutor can teach the skill the coursework assesses, model the technique on a different example, explain the criteria, discuss a plan the student has drafted, and give feedback on text the student has written. A tutor cannot write it, redraft it to completion, or supply wording for submission. That boundary is not a formality: an operator in this market sells completed assessed work, and the student is the one who loses the qualification. The honest version is also more useful, because feedback on your own reasoning transfers to the next task.

Is the person teaching my child from Internet City legally permitted to tutor here?+

They do, and it is free. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system, with a stated two working day turnaround. Individuals tutoring without a permit face fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule has been published.

What should I read in my school's KHDA inspection report before booking tuition?+

Skip the overall band and go to the subject and phase detail. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority inspects Dubai private schools annually and publishes judgements from Outstanding down to Very Weak, but the overall label averages across phases. A school rated Very Good can carry an Acceptable judgement for secondary mathematics attainment, and that specific line is what should drive a Year 10 tutoring decision. For context on the market, KHDA recorded 387,441 pupils across 227 private schools in 2024-25, with UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment.

How long before the exams is too late to start IGCSE tuition?+

Six weeks still changes a grade if the work is aimed correctly, because at that range the available gains are in technique rather than content. Timed papers, command-term drills and minute-per-mark discipline all move marks quickly. What six weeks cannot do is build two years of missing foundations, and anyone promising that is selling you something. The honest assessment comes from one marked paper: if the losses are mostly technique and timing, there is real ground to recover. If they are mostly content gaps across every topic, the conversation should be about the November series instead.

Can lessons fit around a free-zone working day and Dubai evening traffic?+

That is one of the clearer advantages of the online format here. Parents working on the Internet City or Knowledge Park campuses often finish between 18:00 and 19:00, which makes a 19:30 weekday start the most requested slot in this cluster. Because no tutor is driving to Al Sufouh, that slot can be held week after week rather than surrendered to whoever lives closer. Weekend mornings work well for families in JBR and the Marina during the run-up to the June series, and sessions can shift to post-Iftar timing through Ramadan.

Suppose nobody is free for 0620 Extended in our evening slot — then what?+

You are told, before you book. For mainstream IGCSE subjects at either tier, a specialist on Gulf Standard Time is usually available within a few days. For a narrow combination — an uncommon code at a specific tier, in a crowded evening slot, in the weeks before a series — there may be a wait, or the only available specialist may be working from outside the UAE on the same time zone. Which of those applies is stated in advance rather than hidden. No competitor page in this market discloses a coverage limit at all, which is a choice they have made.

Will a tutor supply past papers and mark schemes for us to work from?+

A tutor will point you to the official source and work from it, but will not hand over reproduced packs. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables are the exam boards' copyright, and they should be accessed through the board's own site or through your school. A tutor offering a bundle of reproduced board material is telling you something about how they operate. What a tutor does add is the marking: a paper scored against the real mark scheme, with every lost mark classified by cause, is worth far more than the PDF itself.

Start with the code, not the postcode

If you remember one thing from this page, make it the four facts: board, syllabus code, tier, and the most recent marked paper with its real score. With those, a sensible recommendation takes fifteen minutes. Without them, every quote you receive is a guess dressed up as a plan. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, matched to the exact code your child is entered for rather than to the distance between two addresses in New Dubai. The first lesson is free, it opens with a past-paper question, and if the honest answer turns out to be four sessions and a stop, that is what you will be told.
