IB Home Tutor in Dubai Internet City

Parents searching for an IB home tutor in Dubai Internet City are almost always working to a date: a Diploma mock in six weeks, an Internal Assessment draft due before the winter break, a predicted grade that has to move before university applications close. This page is built around that calendar. IB Gram matches your child to a specialist and teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so the lesson starts when your child sits down rather than when traffic on Al Sufouh Road allows it.

  • Lessons delivered one-to-one over live video, not at a UAE address
  • Specialist matched by subject and level, not by postcode
  • Session slots from 16:00 to 21:30 Gulf Standard Time
  • Free trial lesson before any paid block is booked

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Internet City

Start from the date, not from the search box

A Diploma year is not a long stretch of study time. It is a series of fixed deadlines set by three different people: the IB, your child's school, and whoever marks the final paper. Internal Assessment drafts land in the autumn term. Mocks arrive in the winter. The Extended Essay has a school submission date that is usually months before the IB's own upload window. By the time a parent in Internet City types a search for an IB home tutor, one of those dates is usually close enough to be the reason for the search.

That changes what good tuition looks like. A tutor who starts with a general diagnostic and works through the syllabus in order is the right choice in September of DP1. The same approach in February of DP2 wastes the weeks that remain. What a student needs eight weeks out is a short list of recoverable marks, a past-paper routine that produces evidence, and someone who knows which parts of the course are safe to leave alone. The planning is the service, and the teaching carries it out.

Internet City itself shapes the timetable more than parents expect. It is an office free zone first and a residential address second, so most families here live in the towers of Barsha Heights, the apartment blocks behind Dubai Knowledge Park, or the villa communities of The Greens, The Views and Al Sufouh. Children travel out to school in Al Barsha, Al Sufouh or Umm Suqeim, and the school run home lands between 15:30 and 16:45 depending on which gate the bus leaves from. A tutor who has to drive in after that is competing with the same traffic.

Online one-to-one removes that problem without removing anything that matters. Your child opens a laptop at 16:45, the tutor is already on the call with the past paper on a shared screen, and the hour is an hour of teaching. The thing a family gives up is a person in the room. The thing a family gains is the ability to choose a Chemistry HL specialist, or a Maths Analysis and Approaches teacher who has marked Paper 3, rather than whichever qualified tutor happens to live within a twenty-minute drive of the Sheikh Zayed Road interchange.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Every UAE lesson is online, one-to-one and live. The sections below set out the calendar a Diploma student in Internet City is actually working to, what the market charges around here, what the first eight weeks of support should produce, and the line a tutor may not cross on an Internal Assessment.

At a glance

  • Cambridge candidates in the UAE enter for the June and November series; the February/March series is offered in India only
  • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November, with November results reaching students in January
  • KHDA inspects Dubai private schools on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak
  • Market rates for a qualified online subject tutor in Dubai run roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour
  • A tutor may teach, question and give feedback on an IA; a tutor may not write any part of it
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Internet City families sit across all three school-age IB programmes, usually because older children moved into the Diploma while younger siblings stayed in the primary years at the same school. Each programme is assessed differently, and each one needs a different kind of help at a different point in the year.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP has no external examinations. Progress is reported through teacher judgement against learning outcomes and through the Exhibition in the final year. Support at this stage is about the two things that carry into MYP: reading fluency and number sense. A child who leaves the PYP able to read a question carefully and estimate whether an answer is sensible will cope with MYP criteria far better than one who has been drilled on content.

Primary-age children in the Internet City and Media City blocks are mostly enrolled at schools in Al Barsha, Al Sufouh and The Greens, with the bus leaving before 07:00. Evening sessions for this age group work best at 16:30 or 17:00, kept to forty minutes, and stopped completely in the fortnight before a school holiday rather than pushed through.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP subjects are marked against four criteria, each scored from 0 to 8, which the school converts to a 1-7 grade using published boundaries. A student can know the content and still lose a grade because the response does not do what the criterion asks. The final year carries the Personal Project, assessed on its own criteria and running across most of the year. Tuition here is mostly about reading the criterion and writing to it.

MYP Year 5 students in this corridor often sit alongside classmates preparing for IGCSE at neighbouring schools, which makes comparing grades confusing for parents. A Dubai MYP 7 and an IGCSE grade 9 are different measurements of different work, and a tutor should explain that before suggesting any change of course.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and the creativity, activity, service requirement. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment weighted between a fifth and a quarter of the final grade, marked by the teacher and moderated by the IB. The written papers come at the end of DP2, which means almost everything a student can still bank in the final six months sits in the IA, the mock evidence and the past-paper work.

Diploma students living near Internet City travel to schools across Al Barsha, Al Sufouh and Umm Suqeim, and the school day usually ends between 14:40 and 15:20. The realistic start for a weekday session here is 16:45, which leaves time for two subjects on different evenings without eating into the weekend coursework block.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The requests that arrive from this corridor cluster around the Higher Level sciences and both Mathematics routes, with English A and Economics close behind. Every subject below is taught at the level your child is actually entered for, against your child's own school deadlines.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, calculus and algebraic fluency carry most of the marks. HL students sit an additional paper on extended response work. The common failure is method marks lost to unshown working on questions a student could do mentally.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling and technology-dependent work. Graphical display calculator skill is assessed rather than assumed, and students who treat the calculator as a last resort lose marks on questions designed around it.

Physics

HL and SL

Under the current guide the course is organised into themes rather than topics, with the scientific investigation carrying a fifth of the grade. Uncertainty treatment and graph-gradient interpretation are where competent students lose the most.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms, energetics and equilibrium account for most of the lost marks at HL. Students who can recite definitions but cannot explain why a reaction goes one way need mechanism work, not more flashcards.

Biology

HL and SL

The command term decides the mark. Outline, explain, distinguish and evaluate each demand a different structure, and a correct biological fact written under the wrong command term scores nothing.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Guided textual analysis, the comparative essay and the individual oral. Students in international schools often read well and still write unfocused responses because the global issue is not anchored to specific extracts.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy drives the marks. A correctly labelled and correctly shifted diagram earns credit that no amount of surrounding prose can replace, and the HL paper rewards quantitative handling.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tool application against a real organisation. The research project rewards narrow, answerable questions; broad strategy questions produce descriptive answers that cap the mark.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core components

Both are process-assessed. Support means supervision of the student's own thinking, question framing and structure, with written feedback on drafts the student produced.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three delivery patterns cover almost every request that comes from this part of Dubai. The right one depends on how far away the next fixed deadline is, not on how much support a family thinks it wants.

Weekly one-to-one across a term

One or two sessions a week with the same tutor, following your child's school scheme of work. This is the pattern for a student who is coping but underperforming, and it is the only pattern that reliably changes a predicted grade, because a prediction is built from accumulated classroom evidence rather than from a single strong week.

  • Same tutor, same slot, booked against the school's own term dates
  • Written note after each session naming what was covered and what to practise
  • Past-paper questions set between sessions and marked with the tutor
  • Paused rather than cancelled during school trips and exam weeks

Eight-week intensive block before a mock or final series

Two or three sessions a week built around a fixed date. The block opens with a past paper sat under timed conditions, produces a short list of recoverable topics, and spends the remaining weeks on those topics alone. Content the student has already secured is deliberately left untouched, which is what makes the block fit into eight weeks.

  • Diagnostic paper in week one, marked against the published scheme
  • Three to five target topics, chosen by mark value rather than by difficulty
  • A timed paper every second week to show whether the marks are moving
  • Final two sessions spent on exam technique and question selection

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay supervision

Short, scheduled sessions timed to the school's own draft deadlines. The tutor reads what the student has written, asks the questions a moderator would ask, and gives feedback the student then acts on alone. No part of the work is drafted, rewritten or edited to completion by the tutor, because that would put the student's diploma at risk.

  • Sessions mapped to the school's internal draft and final submission dates
  • Feedback given against the published assessment criteria by letter
  • Research question narrowed before any writing begins
  • A written record of what the student changed between drafts

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Internet City

01

What an IB home tutor in Dubai Internet City can realistically start this week

  • Bring the most recent report and one piece of marked work to the trial
  • Name the next three deadlines, including the school's own IA draft dates
  • Expect a written plan, not a verbal promise, after the trial
  • Book the slot your child can actually make every week, not the earliest one

An IB home tutor in Dubai Internet City, in practice, means one-to-one teaching for a Diploma or MYP student living in or near the Internet City free zone, delivered live over video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram matches by subject and level, usually within two to four working days for mainstream Higher Level subjects, and the first lesson is a free trial so a family can judge the match before paying for a block.

The first session is not a sales call. It is a working hour: the tutor asks for the most recent school report, the most recent piece of marked work, and the dates of the next three deadlines. From that, the plan either becomes a term of weekly lessons or an eight-week block aimed at a specific paper. A family that arrives six weeks before mocks gets the second plan whether or not they asked for it, because that is what six weeks can deliver.

What cannot happen is a tutor arriving at an Internet City address. IB Gram does not provide in-person tuition anywhere in the UAE, and no page on this site should be read as offering it. That is a deliberate limit rather than a gap in coverage: the alternative is restricting a Chemistry HL student to tutors who can reach Al Sufouh Road by 17:00, which in this market means a much smaller and much less specialised pool.

The practical shape of a first week, then, is a trial lesson within a few days of enquiry, a short written plan naming the target topics and the deadline they are aimed at, and the first paid session in the same slot the following week.

02

The Diploma year counted backwards from the final papers

Every Diploma deadline that matters is set months before the exam it feeds. Schools build their internal calendars around that, and parents usually see only the school's version, which is why an IA draft date in October feels arbitrary. It is not. It exists because teacher marking, internal standardisation and the IB's upload window all have to happen before results can be produced, and those steps run on a fixed schedule.

The table below sets out the sequence rather than specific dates, because the only dates worth acting on are the ones your child's school and the awarding body publish for the current session. UAE candidates sit the May session for the Diploma; Cambridge candidates in the UAE enter for the June and November series, and the February/March series is offered in India only. For Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, the November window in 2026 ran from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students in January.

Read the sequence from the bottom up and the planning becomes obvious. If results depend on an upload that depends on school marking that depends on a final draft, then the real deadline for a student is the school's draft date, and the real deadline for tuition is six to eight weeks before that. A family that starts tuition after the draft date has already passed is paying for feedback on work that can no longer change.

The second thing the sequence shows is where the quiet months are. The stretch between the start of DP2 and the winter break carries no external deadline at all, which makes it the cheapest and most useful time to fix a weak topic. Tuition bought in that window costs the same per hour as tuition bought in the panic weeks and does several times as much work.

03

What the next eight weeks have to achieve

  • Week one: full timed paper, marked openly, broken down by question
  • Weeks two to four: the leaking marks, because they are the cheapest
  • Weeks four to six: ranked unlearned content, capped at what fits
  • Weeks seven and eight: timing, presentation and question selection only

Eight weeks is the shortest period in which a Diploma grade can be moved honestly, and it only works if the eight weeks are spent on the right third of the course. The opening session is a full past paper, sat in one sitting, marked against the published scheme with the student watching. That produces a mark breakdown by question rather than a vague sense that physics is hard.

The breakdown almost always shows three categories. There are topics the student has secured, which get no further attention. There are topics where the understanding exists but the marks leak through presentation, unshown working or a misread command term, and those are the cheapest marks on the paper. There is a residue of genuinely unlearned content, which is ranked by how many marks it carries and cut off at whatever can fit in the weeks available.

Weeks two to six attack the leaking marks first and the unlearned content second. Each session ends with a specific set of past-paper questions, and the following session begins with the student's attempt rather than with new teaching. The point of that order is evidence: a student who can produce the method under timed conditions has moved, and a student who cannot has not, whatever either of us felt about the lesson.

The last fortnight is spent entirely on paper behaviour. Question order, time per mark, when to abandon a part question, how to present working so method marks survive a wrong final answer. None of that is new content, and all of it is routinely worth several marks a paper to a student who has never been taught it explicitly.

04

What tuition costs around Internet City, counted by the month

Hourly rates make tutoring sound cheaper than it is, because nobody buys one hour. The number that decides whether a family can sustain support to the end of DP2 is the monthly one. Market estimates published by Bestimate for weekly one-hour sessions in Dubai put a budget arrangement at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month, a mid-market qualified tutor at AED 600 to 1,200, and exam-year specialist support at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above.

Packaged offers in this market follow the same pattern. Online monthly bundles advertised at around AED 799 for eight sessions work out near AED 100 an hour, which places them firmly in the budget tier and usually means a university-student tutor rather than a subject specialist. In-home monthly packages advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits price the travel as much as the teaching, and the published rates reflect that: Bestimate puts in-home visits at AED 180 to 350 an hour, with independent home tutors quoted between AED 200 and 500.

Online specialist rates sit between the two. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200; TutorChase quotes AED 270; Bestimate's specialist band runs AED 200 to 450 and above; BartyED advertises AED 650 for premium named tutors. Those are other providers' published figures, cited as the market, not as IB Gram's price list. Our own rate depends on subject, level and block length, and the free trial comes before any of it.

The honest planning number for a Diploma student in this corridor is one or two sessions a week for two terms, with a heavier block in the eight weeks before the final papers. Costed at the mid-market band, that is a sustained commitment rather than an incidental one, which is exactly why the eight-week method above exists.

Online lessons against an in-home visit on the Al Sufouh Road corridor

The case for a tutor in the room is real and worth stating. A younger child works better with an adult beside them, handwriting is easier to correct on paper, and some parents want to see the lesson happening. For a Year 4 reader, that can outweigh everything else. The question is whether it still outweighs everything else for a Higher Level Diploma student eight weeks from a paper.

On this stretch of New Dubai the arithmetic is unusually clear. A tutor travelling to Internet City in the late afternoon is crossing the same Al Sufouh Road and Sheikh Zayed Road load as every school bus in the area. That travel is paid for either in money, through the in-home premium visible in the published rates above, or in time, through a session that starts late and ends at a fixed time anyway. It also narrows the pool: the specialist who has taught the current Chemistry guide may live in Mirdif, and for an in-home arrangement that makes them unavailable.

Online removes the travel from both sides and widens the pool to anyone teaching that subject at that level. It also changes the material. Past papers, mark schemes and worked solutions sit on a shared screen where both people can annotate them, and the whole session can be saved as notes the student rereads the following week. What it demands in return is a workable set-up: a headset, a door that closes, and a parent who checks occasionally that the session is happening rather than being half-attended.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Dubai, so this comparison is not a sales choice we are offering. It is the reasoning behind a limit we have already set, published so that a family can disagree with it and look elsewhere.

Ramadan, Eid and the UAE term structure

  • Write the school's term dates and draft deadlines down before booking any block
  • Expect shorter, later, less frequent sessions through Ramadan
  • Sit a timed paper in the week after a long break, not before it
  • Renegotiate the slot for travel rather than cancelling the block

A tuition plan written in September that ignores the UAE academic calendar breaks twice before the final papers. Dubai private schools run three terms with a long winter break around the turn of the year and a spring break, and the Diploma's heaviest internal deadlines are stacked immediately after one of those breaks rather than before it. A block of lessons that lapses over a holiday and resumes cold has lost more than the fortnight it skipped.

Ramadan changes the day rather than the calendar. School hours shorten, afternoon energy drops sharply, and the useful study window moves to after Iftar. Families who plan for that keep making progress: sessions shift to later in the evening, run shorter, and drop to one a week instead of two. Families who try to hold a 17:00 slot through the month usually cancel half of it and lose the rhythm entirely. Eid holidays then arrive as a genuine break, and the week after is the right moment to sit a timed paper and see what survived.

The practical rule is to write the term's dates down first and fit the lessons around them. Mark the school's own IA and Extended Essay draft dates, the mock window, the breaks, and Ramadan. What remains is the real number of teaching weeks available, and it is almost always fewer than a parent assumed when they counted months. Eight weeks of lessons between now and a mock often means eleven calendar weeks on the actual timetable.

Travel matters here too. Many families in this corridor leave the country for part of the summer and part of the winter break. Online sessions can follow a student to another time zone, which is one of the few genuine logistical advantages of the format, provided the slot is renegotiated rather than simply missed.

07

Where the line sits on an Internal Assessment three weeks from the deadline

The pressure point in every Diploma year is a draft that is not working with the school deadline close. It is also where the tutoring market in this region behaves worst: at least one site selling to UAE parents advertises completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price. Buying one puts a student's entire diploma at risk, because the IB treats submitted work that is not the student's own as malpractice, and the consequence falls on the candidate rather than on the seller.

The useful boundary is simple to state. A tutor may teach the underlying content, explain what each assessment criterion is asking for, question a research design until its weaknesses are visible, point at a paragraph and say that the analysis does not yet support the conclusion, and model how a different piece of work handled a similar problem. A tutor may not write, rewrite, restructure, edit to completion or supply text for any part of the submission, and may not provide data the student did not collect.

In practice that produces a different kind of session. The student reads their own draft aloud while the tutor holds the criteria open by letter. Every piece of feedback is phrased as a question or as a statement about the criterion, and the student leaves with a list of changes to make alone before the next session. The written record of what changed between drafts is also the student's own protection if the authenticity of the work is ever questioned.

Schools are the right partner here, not a workaround. The subject teacher is the person who marks the IA and knows the internal timetable, and a tutor's feedback should be consistent with what that teacher has already said. Where the two conflict, the teacher's reading of the criteria is the one that counts.

08

KHDA, the school map and what the inspection band actually tells you

Private schools in Dubai are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Inspection reports are published on a six-band scale from Outstanding down to Very Weak, and parents in this corridor read them closely because the schools their children attend sit across several bands. The band is a judgement about a whole school, not about the Diploma cohort, and a strong school can still have a thin year in one Higher Level subject.

The market around Internet City is unusually dense. Dubai's private sector served 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 curricula in 2024-25, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26, American at 14 and the International Baccalaureate at 7. For the 2026-27 intake, seven new private schools are opening, four UK curriculum and three IB, adding 16,846 places; six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose by six per cent.

Fees are the other half of the context. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family budgeting tuition on top of fees, a flat fee year is the one year where adding two sessions a week does not compete with an increase already announced.

None of this makes IB Gram a KHDA-regulated provider, and no page here should be read as claiming otherwise. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit; an individual tutor needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which u.ae states is granted free of charge for two years. We name the regulators because parents should know who to check with, not to borrow their authority.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Dubai Internet City

Internet City sits in the middle of a tight cluster of free zones and residential pockets, each with its own school-run geometry. Families move between them constantly, and the tuition timetable has to follow the address rather than the office.

Dubai Media City

A five-minute drive or one tram stop away, sharing the same Al Sufouh Road access and the same afternoon congestion towards Sheikh Zayed Road. Families here hold the same 16:45 start as Internet City.

Barsha Heights (TECOM)

The main residential block for people working in Internet City, with metro access on the Red Line. Children here mostly travel to Al Barsha schools, which means an earlier bus and an earlier afternoon finish.

Dubai Knowledge Park

Directly adjacent, served by the Knowledge Village tram stop, and home to several university campuses. Household schedules here often run around a parent's teaching or term timetable rather than an office day.

Al Sufouh

The school corridor itself, with several of the area's best-known secondary schools on or just off Al Sufouh Road. Pupils here have the shortest commute and the latest practical start for an evening session.

The Greens and The Views

Low-rise apartments on the Sheikh Zayed Road side, popular with families who want a short run to Al Barsha and Emirates Hills schools. Study space is usually a shared living room, so a headset matters.

Al Barsha South and Dubai Hills edge

Further out but a common destination for Internet City families moving from apartment to villa. The longer school run pushes the first workable session to 17:00 on weekdays.

Dubai Marina and JLT

Ten minutes down the tram line, with the densest concentration of apartment-dwelling Diploma students in New Dubai and the same late-afternoon arrival pattern.

Al Sufouh and Al Barsha

The secondary schools nearest Internet City, offering a mix of Diploma Programme and A Level routes after IGCSE. Several run both, which is why families in this corridor ask about the DP-versus-A-Level decision more often than families elsewhere in Dubai.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, the level and the date

The enquiry that gets matched fastest names the subject, whether it is Higher or Standard Level, the school, and the next fixed deadline. Internet City, Media City and Barsha Heights addresses all run on the same evening slot pattern, so the slot question is usually settled in one exchange.

  2. 02

Match to a specialist, not to a generalist

Matching is by subject and level. A Chemistry HL request goes to someone who teaches the current Chemistry guide, including the scientific investigation, rather than to a science graduate who can cover any of the three. Mainstream Higher Level subjects are usually matched within two to four working days.

  3. 03

    Sit the free trial lesson

The trial is a working hour with the most recent marked work on screen. At the end of it you should know what the tutor thinks the problem is, which is a different thing from being told your child has potential. If the match is wrong, say so and we will match again.

Agree a written plan against the calendar

The plan names the target topics, the deadline they are aimed at, the session frequency and what the student does between sessions. For an eight-week block it also names the dates of the timed papers, because those are the checkpoints that show whether the marks are moving.

  5. 05

    Review against evidence, not impressions

Every few weeks the student sits something timed and marked. The plan changes when the evidence changes: a secured topic drops out, a stubborn one gets more time. If the evidence is not moving after a fair run, the honest answer is a different tutor or a different approach, and we will say so.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The calendar is the plan

Support here is written backwards from the next fixed date rather than forwards from the start of the syllabus. That decides how many sessions a week make sense, which topics get attention and which are deliberately left alone, and it is the difference between eight useful weeks and eight busy ones.

Specialists, matched by level

A Higher Level request goes to someone who teaches that level, with its additional papers and heavier content. Online delivery is what makes that possible for an Internet City family: the pool is every tutor teaching the subject, not every tutor who can reach Al Sufouh Road by five.

Published market rates, not vague reassurance

The AED bands on this page are other providers' published figures with the source named, because three of the six best-ranking pages for these searches publish no price at all. You can check every band quoted here before you speak to anybody, including us.

A stated limit on what we do

IB Gram teaches UAE students online and does not send tutors to UAE addresses. Saying that plainly costs us the families who only want someone in the room, and it means the ones who stay know exactly what they are buying.

Academic honesty treated as a boundary

A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on work the student wrote. Nobody here drafts an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay, and we will say no to that request in writing, because the risk of saying yes lands on the candidate.

Regulators named, never borrowed

KHDA, the Ministry of Education and MoHRE are described on this page so that parents know which body does what and where to verify a tutor's permit. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or partnership from any of them and does not imply one.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Internet City: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor who comes to our apartment in Dubai Internet City?+

Not through IB Gram. We teach UAE students one-to-one over live video and do not send tutors to addresses anywhere in the UAE; in-home visits are a service we run only in India. Independent home tutors do work in this corridor, and published market rates for them run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel. If you want someone physically in the room, that is the market to look at. If what you want is a specialist in a particular Higher Level subject at a workable evening time, online is the format that makes it possible.

How many weeks before a Diploma mock should we start tuition in Internet City?+

Eight teaching weeks is the shortest honest run, and because of term breaks and Ramadan that usually means ten or eleven calendar weeks. The first week is spent on a full timed paper so the plan is built from a mark breakdown rather than a guess. Weeks two to six cover the leaking marks and the highest-value unlearned content. The final fortnight is timing and presentation only. Starting with three weeks left is not pointless, but it limits the work to paper technique rather than content, so expect smaller movement.

Which exam series do Cambridge candidates at schools near Internet City actually sit?+

Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level examinations in a June series and a November series, and those are the two open to UAE candidates. The February and March series is offered in India only, so a timetable quoting it does not apply to your child. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Your school's exams officer holds the zone.

When do November International GCSE results reach students in the UAE?+

For Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, the November series sits in late autumn and results follow in January. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. For the previous series, November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Summer results come much faster: June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so check the live official timetable on the Pearson qualifications site rather than relying on a date quoted anywhere else.

What does an online IB Diploma tutor cost per hour in Dubai at the moment?+

Published market figures for Dubai put a qualified online subject tutor at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, and an IB, IGCSE or A Level specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above. Unitors advertises IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200; TutorChase quotes AED 270; BartyED advertises AED 650 for premium named tutors. Budget online options start far lower, from AED 33 to 65 an hour, which in practice means a university-student tutor. Those are other providers' published rates quoted as market context, not IB Gram's price list.

Is the free trial lesson genuinely free, and what happens in it?+

The trial lesson carries no charge and no card requirement, and you are not committed to a block afterwards. It runs as a working hour: the tutor asks for the most recent school report and one piece of marked work, looks at what the marks actually say, and spends the time teaching rather than selling. At the end you should have a clear statement of what the tutor thinks is going wrong and what the first four sessions would target. If the match feels wrong, tell us and we will match a different tutor.

Can a tutor in Dubai Internet City help with my child's Internal Assessment without breaking IB rules?+

Yes, within a clear boundary. A tutor can teach the content behind the task, explain what each assessment criterion asks for, challenge a research design, and give written feedback on a draft the student produced. A tutor cannot write, rewrite, restructure or edit any part of it to completion, and cannot supply data the student did not collect. Sites advertising completed Internal Assessments are selling something the IB treats as malpractice, and the penalty falls on your child rather than on the seller. We refuse that request in writing.

How should sessions change during Ramadan for a student in this part of Dubai?+

School hours shorten and afternoon concentration drops, so the useful window moves to after Iftar. The arrangement that survives the month is a later start, a shorter session and one a week instead of two, agreed before Ramadan begins rather than improvised. Trying to hold a 17:00 slot through the month usually means cancelling half of it and losing the routine. Plan a timed paper for the week after Eid instead of the week before, so you find out what the month actually cost and can adjust the remaining block honestly.

My child goes to school in Al Barsha and gets home at 16:30. What slot works?+

A 16:45 start is realistic for a secondary student on that run, and 17:00 is safer if the bus comes through Hessa Street. Younger children do better at 16:30 with a forty-minute session, before the day catches up with them. Two subjects are best split across different evenings rather than stacked back to back, because the second hour of a double is reliably weaker. Weekend mornings suit Internal Assessment and Extended Essay work, which needs a longer uninterrupted block than a weekday evening offers.

Does a KHDA inspection band tell me whether my child needs a tutor?+

Only indirectly. KHDA publishes inspection judgements for Dubai private schools on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak, and that is a verdict on a whole school across all phases. It says little about one Higher Level subject in one year group, which is the level at which tuition decisions are actually made. The more useful evidence is your child's own marked work, the gap between their current grade and their predicted grade, and whether the subject teacher thinks the problem is content, technique or confidence.

Do private tutors working in Dubai need a government permit?+

Yes. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered at government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Anyone offering private tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so treat any specific amount you read as unverified.

Which Diploma subjects do families around Internet City ask for most often?+

Higher Level Chemistry and Physics, both Mathematics routes, and English A: Language and Literature account for most requests from this corridor, with Economics and Business Management close behind. The pattern follows the schools: the Al Sufouh and Al Barsha secondaries send a lot of students towards engineering, medicine and business degrees, and those routes make the Higher Level sciences and Analysis and Approaches unavoidable. Internal Assessment supervision across any subject is the other steady request, usually arriving three to five weeks before a school draft deadline.

Can online lessons continue when we travel out of the UAE over a school break?+

Yes, and this is one of the format's genuine advantages for families in this area, many of whom spend part of the winter and summer breaks abroad. The slot has to be renegotiated rather than simply missed, because a tutor on Gulf Standard Time and a student four hours west need a different hour. Agree the holiday pattern before the break starts: usually one session a week instead of two, with the regular slot resuming on a named date. Sessions that lapse without a resumption date tend not to resume.

What should I expect to see after six weeks of weekly sessions?+

Evidence rather than reassurance. By week six there should be at least two pieces of timed, marked work showing where the marks have moved, a shorter list of weak topics than the one you started with, and a student who can explain what they do differently now in the subject. If none of that exists, the honest conclusion is that the match or the method is wrong, and changing it is better than buying another six weeks of the same. We would rather say that than keep the block running.

Start from the next date on your child's calendar

Tell us the subject, the level and the deadline you are working to, and we will match a specialist and put a free trial lesson in a slot your child can actually make from Internet City, Media City or Barsha Heights. Lessons are one-to-one and delivered live online on Gulf Standard Time; we do not send tutors to UAE addresses. After the trial you get a written plan naming the target topics, the timed papers that will test them, and the date each one is aimed at. If a specialist in your subject is not free this week, we will tell you how long the wait is rather than offering a substitute and hoping.
