IGCSE Tutor near me in Arabian Ranches 2

Typing IGCSE tutor near me from a villa in Casa or Rosa returns agencies that will not quote a price. This page does the opposite. It sets out what Arabian Ranches 2 families actually pay for Cambridge and Pearson support, what each price band buys, and the four places the money usually leaks. Lessons themselves run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so the rate you pay covers teaching rather than a drive down Al Qudra Road.

What you are really buying when you search for a tutor nearby

A search for an IGCSE tutor near me in Arabian Ranches 2 is a search about distance, but the invoice that follows is about something else entirely. Distance decides who is willing to turn up. It does not decide who has marked a Cambridge 0620 paper, who knows that Extended tier Chemistry candidates sit Paper 2 and Paper 4 rather than Paper 1 and Paper 3, or who can tell the difference between a student who cannot do stoichiometry and a student who runs out of time. Those are the things that move a grade, and none of them correlate with how long it takes to reach Reem on a Tuesday evening.

Arabian Ranches 2 is a villa community off Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, built in clusters named Casa, Rosa, Palma, Lila, Camelia, Azalea, Reem, Yasmin and Rasha. There is no secondary school inside the gates. Children are bussed or driven out to Arabian Ranches, Motor City, Dubai Sports City, Nad Al Sheba, Al Barsha South and the Sustainable City. That geography is the whole of the pricing problem: a tutor who is genuinely near you has a small pool of syllabuses they have taught, and a tutor who has taught yours is rarely near you.

The Dubai tutoring market resolves that tension by charging for travel. Published in-home rates run from around AED 180 to AED 500 an hour, with Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table putting the ordinary in-home band at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. The same rate table puts qualified online subject tutors at AED 150 to 300. The gap between those two bands is not a quality gap. It is fuel, parking and forty minutes of someone's evening, billed to you at their hourly rate.

So this page is written as a budget rather than a brochure. It shows the published bands from the cheapest tier upwards, what each tier can realistically do for a Year 10 or Year 11 student, and the four spending patterns that waste the most money in this community specifically. It also covers the costs nobody budgets for: exam entry as a private candidate, a November resit, and the hours lost paying a generalist to work out which paper your child is actually sitting.

IB Gram delivers IGCSE support to Arabian Ranches 2 as one-to-one online lessons over live video. We do not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; that is a service we offer only in India. What a family here gets instead is a tutor chosen from the whole pool rather than the twenty-minute-drive pool, which matters most for the subjects this neighbourhood struggles to staff locally: Additional Mathematics 0606, Edexcel Further Pure, and the Extended-tier sciences in the final two terms before a June series.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Arabian Ranches 2 children sit IGCSE under two boards, usually chosen by the school rather than the family. The entry code on the exam slip decides the papers, the tiering and the calculator rules, so it is the first thing a tutor should ask for.

CAIEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

The dominant IGCSE board in Dubai's British-curriculum schools. Subjects are tiered: Core candidates take an easier paper pair with a capped grade ceiling, Extended candidates take the harder pair for the full range. Syllabus codes matter because the 2025-27 Mathematics specification 0580 introduced a non-calculator paper that older teaching materials ignore entirely.

Cambridge runs a June series and a November series, and those are the only two sittings open to a candidate in the UAE, because the February and March series is offered in India only. Every centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones and must use the timetable for its own zone; Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. Ask the school's exams officer which zone your centre sits in.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Tiered as Foundation and Higher rather than Core and Extended, graded 9 to 1, and calculator-permitted in both Mathematics A papers. Mathematics Specification A, code 4MA1, sets two two-hour papers of 100 marks each at both tiers. Foundation tier reports grades 5 to 1; Higher tier reports 9 to 4 with a 3 allowed.

Pearson offers International GCSE in a May/June and a November series each year. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Provisional timetables are published ahead of each series, so check the live PDF rather than a cached date.

Lower Secondary and Year 9 options

The two years before IGCSE decide which tier a child is entered for, and tier decides the grade ceiling. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests run in March, May and October. A Year 9 who is borderline on algebra is a Year 10 who gets entered for Core, and a Core entry in Cambridge Mathematics 0580 cannot be awarded above a C.

This is the cheapest point in the whole sequence to buy help, and the stage Arabian Ranches 2 families most often skip. Ten hours in Year 9 costs a fraction of the thirty hours a Year 11 Extended catch-up takes, and it is the difference between a capped entry and an uncapped one.

What IGCSE grades are being spent on

IGCSE results buy a sixth-form place and a subject combination. A Level and IB Diploma entry requirements inside Dubai are published per school and typically sit at grade 6 or B in the subject to be continued, higher for Mathematics and the sciences. That is the real return on the tutoring spend.

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than E, or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Not every IGCSE subject repays tutoring at the same rate. The list below is ordered by how reliably paid hours convert into marks for a student who is already attending lessons and doing the homework, which is the only honest way to rank spend.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580)

Core and Extended

The highest-yield spend at IGCSE, because the marks are procedural and diagnosable. Extended candidates sit Paper 2, two hours without a calculator, and Paper 4, two hours with one, each 100 marks and each half the grade. The non-calculator paper is where surds, standard form and fraction arithmetic quietly cost a grade.

Mathematics A (Pearson 4MA1)

Foundation and Higher

Both papers permit a calculator, which changes revision completely. Higher tier reports 9 to 4 with an allowed 3, so a student sitting at the tier boundary is deciding between a safe 5 at Foundation and a risky 4 at Higher. That decision is worth an hour of a tutor's time on its own.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Single tier

Taken alongside 0580 by students heading for Mathematics at A Level or Analysis and Approaches HL. Calculus and trigonometric identities arrive early and the pace assumes fluency that most Year 11 students do not yet have. The hardest subject in this list to staff locally, and the clearest case for widening the tutor pool.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620)

Core and Extended

Extended candidates sit Paper 2 for multiple choice, 45 minutes and 40 marks, Paper 4 for theory, 1 hour 15 and 80 marks, and either Paper 5 practical or Paper 6 alternative to practical for the final 20 percent. Moles and electrolysis absorb the hours; the practical paper absorbs the marks nobody revised for.

Physics (Cambridge 0625)

Core and Extended

Same paper architecture as Chemistry. The losses cluster in electricity, where circuit reasoning fails, and in the required equations, where recall is shaky. Physics rewards drilling more than reading, which makes it good value per paid hour if the tutor sets timed questions rather than lectures.

Biology (Cambridge 0610)

Core and Extended

Content-heavy and deceptively cheap to tutor badly. A session spent re-reading the textbook does nothing; a session spent on command-term discipline and on the eight-mark extended responses does. Students lose most on describe-versus-explain confusion and on data questions in Paper 6.

Co-ordinated Sciences (0654)

Double award

One entry, two grades, three sciences taught at reduced depth. Theory sits in Paper 3 or Paper 4 at two hours and 120 marks. Families often buy three single-subject tutors for a double-award child, which is the single most expensive mistake in this list.

English Language (0500 and 0510)

First Language and Second Language

First Language English 0500 is assessed on directed writing and composition; English as a Second Language 0510 and 0511 differ in whether the speaking test is counted. Marks move with structure and timing drills, not vocabulary lists. A tutor should be marking against the published descriptors, not giving impressions.

Economics and Business Studies (0455 and 0450)

Single tier

Both reward answer architecture: definition, application to the named context, analysis, then evaluation that actually chooses. Students who know the content and write without a structure lose a band. This is correctable in six to eight sessions, which makes it one of the better value subjects to buy late.

Arabic and the mandatory UAE subjects

First Language 0508 and Foreign Language 0544

Dubai private schools must teach Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies alongside the licensed curriculum. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited. These lessons occupy real timetable space in Year 11.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy IGCSE help, priced differently and useful for different problems. The right answer for a Year 11 six weeks from a June series is rarely the right answer for a Year 9 who is drifting in algebra.

Weekly one-to-one, one subject

A fixed slot with the same tutor, usually sixty or ninety minutes, running from the start of Year 10 or from the January mock results in Year 11. The cheapest effective shape for a single weak subject, and the easiest to budget because the monthly cost does not move.

  • Sixty minutes suits one topic and a timed question; ninety suits a full past paper worked properly
  • Published market rate for a qualified online subject tutor sits at AED 150-300 an hour
  • Bestimate's monthly estimate for weekly mid-tier sessions is AED 600-1,200
  • Same tutor each week, so no time is spent re-establishing what the student already knows

Short diagnostic block before a decision

Three or four sessions bought to answer a specific question: Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher, drop a subject or keep it. Cheaper than a term of weekly lessons and often more valuable, because the tier decision sets the grade ceiling for everything that follows.

  • Starts from the last paper a teacher actually marked, not from a syllabus checklist
  • Ends with a written recommendation the family can take to the school
  • Four hours at the mid band costs roughly AED 600-1,200 in total
  • Best bought in Year 10 term three, before entry codes are submitted

Intensive run-in before a series

Two or three sessions a week in the final six to eight weeks, built entirely on timed papers and marked scripts. The most expensive mode per month and the one where a generalist tutor does the least good, because the work is paper technique rather than teaching.

  • Bestimate puts specialist exam-year support at AED 1,000-2,000+ a month
  • Only worth buying if the student is already doing the content work independently
  • Papers come from the school or the official board site, never reproduced by us
  • Stops on the last exam date, so the spend has a hard end point

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches 2

01

What a search for an IGCSE tutor near me actually returns in this community

  • Ask for the syllabus code the tutor has taught, not the subject name
  • Ask whether the quoted rate is per hour or per lesson, and whether it includes travel
  • Ask how many marked scripts the tutor has worked through for that board

The literal answer: for most Extended-tier subjects, a search for an IGCSE tutor near me in Arabian Ranches 2 returns agencies that serve the whole of Dubai and will drive a tutor to you for a travel-loaded hourly rate, plus a handful of independent tutors who happen to live in Dubailand. The agencies rarely publish a price. Of the competitor pages measured for this project in October 2026, three of six published no hourly figure at all, and the two that did quoted US dollars rather than dirhams.

That matters because the first conversation then becomes a quotation exercise rather than a teaching one. A parent who does not know the market band cannot tell whether AED 350 an hour is a specialist rate or a travel surcharge. The single most useful thing you can do before making contact is read the published bands in the next section, so the question changes from how much do you charge to what does that rate include.

The second thing the search returns is a mismatch between what you asked for and what you need. Proximity is a reasonable filter for a Year 7 who needs homework supervision. It is a poor filter for a Year 11 sitting Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606, because the number of people in the Dubailand villa belt who have taught that syllabus to exam is small, and the ones who have are already booked by the schools that teach it.

Our position is deliberately narrow. IB Gram matches Arabian Ranches 2 families to one-to-one tutors who teach over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits in the UAE at all. The trade is explicit: you give up a person in the room, and in return the pool you choose from is national rather than a twenty-minute radius, and the rate you pay carries no travel in it.

02

The Dubai rate card, cheapest tier first

Start at the bottom rather than the top, because the cheapest tier is where most families start and where most of the wasted money sits. University-student and general online tutors in Dubai advertise from the mid-forties upward: EdFlik publishes from AED 45 to 65 an hour and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. For a Year 8 who needs someone to sit with them while they finish a worksheet, that tier is appropriate and the money is well spent.

One step up, qualified subject tutors working online are published at AED 150 to 300 an hour. Unitors lists IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. This is the band where a tutor has actually taught the syllabus and can mark against the descriptors, and it is the band most Year 10 and Year 11 work should sit in. Above it, IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists are quoted at AED 200 to 450 and upward, with TutorChase publishing AED 270; premium named or examiner-track tutors run to AED 500 to 650 and beyond, with BartyED at AED 650.

The in-home band sits across the middle of that ladder at AED 180 to 500 an hour, which is the figure that confuses people. An in-home tutor at AED 300 is not a better teacher than an online tutor at AED 300. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table puts ordinary in-home visits at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500, and the difference against the online band is travel time priced into the hour. For a family in Camelia or Azalea, at the back of the community, that premium is the largest it gets anywhere in Dubailand.

Monthly packages are quoted too, and they are the easier number to budget against. Published packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a single weekly hour are AED 240 to 600 at the budget tier, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Every figure in this section is the market's, with the publisher named; none of them is an IB Gram price list.

03

Four ways money leaks out of a tutoring budget here

  • Travel premium paid without a reason: roughly AED 50-200 an hour above the online band
  • Generalist preparing the wrong paper pair: the whole spend, wasted quietly
  • Three tutors for one double-award entry: two thirds of the bill is avoidable
  • Late intensity instead of early regularity: the same marks at two to three times the cost

The first leak is paying a travel premium you did not need. A family in Reem books an in-home tutor at AED 320 an hour because the search said near me, when the same qualified teaching is published online at AED 150 to 300. Over a thirty-week Year 11, one hour a week, that difference is a four-figure sum spent on a car journey. If a person in the room genuinely changes your child's behaviour, pay it knowingly. If it was simply what the search returned, it is a leak.

The second leak is buying a generalist for a specific paper. A maths graduate who has never seen Cambridge 0580 will teach the content competently and then prepare your child for the wrong paper pair. Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3; Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4. A tutor who drills calculator methods for a non-calculator Paper 2 has spent your hours making your child slower. Always buy by syllabus code.

The third leak is three tutors for a double-award child. Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 is one entry producing two grades, taught at reduced depth across biology, chemistry and physics. Families routinely hire three single-subject specialists for it, tripling the bill to cover content their child is not examined on. One tutor who has taught 0654 and knows which sub-topics are excluded costs a third as much and prepares the right paper.

The fourth leak is starting too late and buying intensity instead of time. Six weeks out, at two or three sessions a week in the specialist band, the monthly spend reaches Bestimate's AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more. Twenty weeks out, one weekly hour in the mid band covers the same ground for less and leaves room for the content to settle. The cheapest grade is almost always the one bought early in Year 10 or, better, in Year 9 before the tier entry is decided.

04

Which IGCSE subjects repay the hours, and which do not

Tutoring is not equally efficient across subjects, and a budget should follow the efficiency. Mathematics is the strongest case: the losses are procedural, they repeat, and they can be diagnosed from one marked paper. A student who drops marks on surds, index laws and standard form on Cambridge Paper 2 will drop them again next time until someone sits with them and fixes the arithmetic. Eight to twelve hours of focused work moves a grade boundary more reliably here than anywhere else on the timetable.

The sciences are next, but only if the tutor works on the practical component. Paper 5 and Paper 6 carry twenty percent of the grade in Cambridge Biology 0610, Chemistry 0620 and Physics 0625, and they are the papers students revise last and lose most on. Planning an investigation, identifying a variable that was not controlled and reading a results table are learnable skills, and almost nobody practises them at home.

Content-heavy humanities repay fewer hours per dirham, because the marks move with writing structure rather than with knowledge, and structure can be taught in a handful of sessions. Economics 0455 and Business Studies 0450 are the clearest example: a student who already knows the content and writes without definition, application, analysis and a decided evaluation is losing a band for a reason that six sessions can fix permanently.

At the bottom of the efficiency table sit subjects where the student's problem is not the subject. English First Language 0500 marks rarely move for a reader who reads; they move for a student who cannot finish directed writing in time. If the real problem is timing, attention or sleep, more hours of subject teaching is the wrong purchase, and an honest tutor says so in the trial lesson rather than in month four.

05

A two-year IGCSE budget, from Year 10 to results day

Families almost never plan tutoring as a two-year spend, which is why the money arrives in panicked lumps. Laid out as a budget, the shape of a sensible plan becomes obvious: light and early, heavier in the term before mocks, tapering once papers are being worked independently, and with a reserve left for the costs that are not tutoring at all.

Those other costs are real. Exam entry as a private candidate is charged by the centre, not by the board, and an Arabian Ranches 2 family whose child is entered through school will not see that bill at all. A November resit is a second entry fee plus a short block of teaching, and it is a cost worth budgeting for in advance rather than deciding in August. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for 2026-27 under the emirate's second economic incentives package, which at least means the fee side of the household education budget is stable while you plan the tutoring side.

The table below sets out an indicative plan at mid-band market rates. It is a planning tool built from published bands, not a quotation, and it assumes one subject at a time rather than three at once. A family running two subjects should double the tutoring rows and reconsider whether both are genuinely weak or whether one of them is a timing problem wearing a subject's clothes.

The single highest-return line in the table is the cheapest one: a short diagnostic block in Year 9 or early Year 10, before the tier entry is submitted. A Core entry in Cambridge Mathematics 0580 cannot be awarded above a grade C, however well the candidate performs. Discovering that in Year 11 costs a resit; discovering it in Year 9 costs four hours.

The deadlines that cost money rather than marks

Most exam-calendar advice is about revision. The expensive deadlines are administrative, and they sit months before the papers. Count a Cambridge June series backwards and the shape is obvious. The papers themselves fall inside the June window printed on your centre's zone timetable, but the entry list that fixes which subjects and which tier a candidate sits closes in the spring, and the forecast grades the centre submits are gathered from mock evidence collected in the term before that. By the time the first paper is handed out, every decision that could have changed the outcome was taken months earlier. The precise entry date belongs to your centre's key dates rather than to anything worth memorising here, and Pearson's published November 2026 International GCSE timetable, running from late October to 19 November 2026, shows the same gap on the other board.

The zone rule costs money too, in a different way. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and says plainly that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam because the wrong zone timetable was used. A family revising to a timetable downloaded from a search result rather than from the school's exams officer is carrying that risk themselves.

Pearson's rhythm is different. International GCSE runs in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Results from the June 2026 series reached centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, including the International GCSE November series well before anyone sits it, which is why the only safe reference is the live PDF on the Pearson site rather than any date restated on a page like this one.

Build the tutoring plan backwards from the registration date, not the exam date. If entries for a June series close in the spring, the decision about tier, about which subjects to enter and about whether a November resit is likely all has to be made during the preceding autumn and winter. That is also the point at which a diagnostic block is cheapest and most useful, because it is informing a decision rather than rescuing one.

What a free trial should tell you before any money moves

  • Bring the most recent marked paper, mock script or report, not a list of topics
  • Ask the tutor to name the papers your child will sit and their weightings
  • Expect a written four-session plan and a definition of progress
  • Expect ranges and conditions rather than a promised grade

A trial lesson is a purchasing decision, not a sample. IB Gram offers one free trial lesson per student, booked before any payment is taken and with no card details collected at that stage; that is the condition and there is not a longer version of it. The point of the hour is to find out whether this particular tutor can diagnose this particular child, and a parent can judge that from the outside with three or four checks.

First, did the tutor ask for a marked script? A tutor who starts from the last paper an actual teacher annotated is working from evidence. A tutor who starts from a syllabus checklist is working from a template, and templates are what you are trying not to pay for. Second, did the tutor name the paper? For a Cambridge Extended science candidate the answer should involve Paper 2, Paper 4 and either Paper 5 or Paper 6, with the twenty percent practical weighting mentioned without prompting.

Third, did anything get written down? At the end of a useful trial there should be a short statement of what the problem is, what the first four sessions will cover and what would count as progress by session four. That gives you something to hold the arrangement against in six weeks, which is the point at which most tutoring quietly stops being useful without anybody saying so.

Fourth, what did the tutor decline to promise? Nobody can guarantee a grade, and a tutor who offers one is telling you something about how they sell rather than how they teach. The honest version is a range of plausible outcomes with the conditions attached: this many hours, this much independent practice, this topic fixed first. If the trial produces a number instead of a plan, treat the number sceptically.

Permits, receipts and what a paying parent is entitled to ask

  • Permit: MoHRE, Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, free, valid two years
  • Application route: MoHRE smart app, website or e-services, two working days
  • Ruled out: a teacher tutoring a student enrolled at their own school
  • Ask for: per-hour or per-lesson clarity, inclusions, and a receipt each time

Private tutoring in the UAE is permitted work, not informal work. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and the eligible categories include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged fifteen to eighteen and university students. MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee and states a two-working-day completion time through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, and figures circulating online could not be verified against any official source, so no amount appears on this page. What a parent should take from it is simpler: the permit is free and quick, which means a tutor without one has no cost-based excuse, and asking is a reasonable question rather than an awkward one.

There is a second limit worth knowing about in Dubai and a stricter one in Abu Dhabi. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the permit holder's own school. So the apparently convenient option, your child's own teacher privately, is the one option to rule out. A tutoring operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal again: that requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is not something IB Gram holds or claims.

On receipts and tax, keep the questions concrete. Ask whether the rate quoted is per hour or per lesson, whether it includes anything beyond the lesson itself, and whether a receipt will be issued for each payment. We do not state the VAT treatment of tuition fees as fact, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation; what we will always tell you is whether a quoted figure is inclusive. For anything concerning Ministry of Education equivalency or attestation, the official channel is the authority's own, and no tutor performs or guarantees that process.

09

When tutoring is the wrong thing to buy

The most useful sentence a tutoring platform can write is the one about not buying. There are situations where paid hours are a poor use of a family's money, and recognising them early saves both the fee and the child's evenings. The clearest is the student whose marks are falling while effort is rising. That pattern is rarely a knowledge gap; it is usually timing, sleep, or a technique problem that shows up as blank final questions and unfinished papers. A diagnostic hour identifies it. Thirty weekly hours of content teaching will not.

The second is the student with five weak subjects and one free evening. Buying five tutors does not produce five improvements; it produces an exhausted child and a bill. Triage is the honest answer: pick the one or two subjects where the grade matters most for the sixth-form place being applied for, fix those properly, and accept a lower outcome elsewhere. A tutor who agrees to all five without saying this is selling, not advising.

The third is the Year 11 who does not want help. Tutoring works on a student who is doing the work and getting it wrong. It does very little for a student who is not doing the work, and the money is better spent on a short, concrete conversation with the school about targets than on a tutor who becomes a weekly argument. A trial lesson will usually show which of the two you are dealing with.

The fourth is the problem that is actually an administrative one. If a child has been entered for Core tier and is working comfortably above it, the fix is an entry change through the school's exams officer, not a term of lessons. If the issue is that nobody knows which board the school enters for, the fix is one email. These are free, and they outperform any amount of paid teaching, which is why they appear on this page before the booking form rather than after it.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Arabian Ranches 2

Arabian Ranches 2 is a set of named villa clusters rather than a single address, and where you sit inside it changes the school run more than it changes the tutoring. Each note below is about travel and timing, because that is what the in-home premium is actually priced on.

Casa

Towards the Al Qudra Road side of the community, so the morning run out to Motor City and Dubai Sports City is short and the evening return is the slow one. A 16:30 online start works here; a tutor driving in for 16:30 would be quoting for a 17:15 arrival.

Rosa

Three and four-bedroom villas with a high proportion of primary and lower-secondary children, which means two siblings at different stages rather than one exam candidate. Families here benefit most from staggered half-hour slots rather than one long session.

Palma

Closest to the Ranches 2 community centre and the pool, so after-school activities are local and the 17:00 to 18:00 window is often already spoken for. Sessions land better at 18:30 once sport is finished and before homework collapses.

Lila

Townhouse-dense, with bus pick-ups that leave early and return late. A Year 11 here is frequently home after 16:00 even when the school day ends at 15:15, which is exactly the forty-five minutes an in-home tutor would be billing you for in traffic.

Camelia and Azalea

The newer clusters at the back of the community, furthest from the entrance and therefore the most expensive to serve with a travelling tutor. Online delivery removes the premium entirely, which is why most families here end up buying online even if they started by searching for someone local.

Reem and Yasmin

Large family villas with older children, and the clusters that generate the most Extended-tier and Additional Mathematics requests in this part of Dubailand. Subject specificity matters more here than proximity, because the required tutor often does not live within the emirate's villa belt at all.

Rasha

Quiet and compact, with a short internal drive to the Ranches 2 retail strip. Convenient for families coordinating two or three children in one evening, where a shared screen and a fixed weekly slot beats a sequence of doorbell arrivals.

Arabian Ranches and Arabian Ranches 3

The two communities either side, sharing the same school catchment and the same bus routes. Rates quoted to a Ranches 3 family and a Ranches 2 family are effectively identical, because the travel distance from the city is the same.

School ecosystem

Inside Arabian Ranches and the immediate ring

Primary provision is close; secondary is not. Families with a Year 10 or Year 11 are already driving or bussing out of the community, which is the point at which proximity stops being a sensible way to choose a tutor.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • The Aquila School, Dubailand
  • GEMS FirstPoint School, The Villa
  • South View School, Remraam

Motor City, Dubai Sports City and DAMAC Hills

The usual secondary destinations for Arabian Ranches 2 families on a British curriculum, reached along Al Qudra Road and Hessa Street. Finish times cluster between 15:00 and 15:30, with buses landing back in the community between 15:45 and 16:30.

  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School, Dubai Sports City
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy, Dubai Sports City
  • Jebel Ali School, DAMAC Hills
  • Dubai British School Mira

Al Barsha South, Nad Al Sheba and the Sustainable City

The longer run, taken by families whose child needs a specific sixth form or an IB continuum. These journeys are the reason an in-home tutor's travel premium in this part of Dubai is real rather than invented.

  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Dwight School Dubai
  • Kent College Dubai
  • Kings' School Nad Al Sheba
  • Fairgreen International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai

Schools are named here as catchment context for families in Arabian Ranches 2. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school, school group or regulator named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the code, not just the subject

Send the syllabus code from the exam entry or the front of the textbook: 0580, 0620, 4MA1, 0654. Codes decide papers, tiers and calculator rules, and matching on a code rather than a subject name is what stops a generalist being prepared for the wrong paper pair.

  2. 02

    Send the last marked script

A mock paper with a teacher's annotations on it tells us more in two minutes than a description does in twenty. We use it to decide whether the problem is content, technique or timing, and to brief the tutor before the trial so the free hour is spent teaching rather than interviewing.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

One free trial lesson per student, booked before any payment and with no card details taken. It runs over live video at a time that works around the Dubailand school run. You end it with a written four-session plan and a definition of what progress by session four would look like.

  4. 04

Agree the rate and the shape in writing

Hours per week, length of session, who supplies the papers, and whether the quoted figure is per hour or per lesson. Published market bands are on this page so the conversation starts from the same numbers you have already read rather than from an opening offer.

  5. 05

    Review at session six, honestly

Six sessions is enough to tell whether the arrangement is working. We look at marks on timed questions rather than at how the lessons felt, change tutor if the match is wrong, and say plainly if the remaining problem is not one a tutor should be paid to solve.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Prices on the page, not behind a form

Three of the six competitor pages measured for this project in October 2026 published no hourly figure at all, and one FAQ asked the price and then declined to answer it. Every band quoted here carries the name of whoever published it, so you can compare before you talk to anyone.

No travel in the hourly rate

In-home rates in Dubai are published at AED 180 to 500 because somebody is driving. Online delivery at AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor removes that line from the bill entirely, which matters most from the back clusters of Arabian Ranches 2.

Matched by syllabus code

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are both IGCSE Mathematics and they set different papers with different calculator rules. We match on the code your child is entered for, which is the difference between useful preparation and plausible-looking preparation.

A stated line on assessed work

A tutor teaches, reviews and gives feedback on the student's own work. We will not write, complete or produce coursework of any kind, and we say so before anybody asks, because the alternative is an academic-integrity problem that lands on the student rather than on us.

Coverage stated rather than implied

If no UAE-based specialist is free for your slot and subject, we say so and offer the alternative with the rate attached, instead of filling the slot with whoever is available. Disclosed limits are cheaper for everyone than discovered ones.

Sources you can check yourself

Regulator facts on this page come from u.ae, web.khda.gov.ae, mohre.gov.ae, cambridgeinternational.org and qualifications.pearson.com. Where a date can be revised, as with Pearson timetables, we point at the live document rather than restating it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches 2: your questions answered

How much should an IGCSE tutor near me in Arabian Ranches 2 actually cost per hour?+

Published Dubai bands, October 2026: budget online and university-student tutors from roughly AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52; qualified online subject tutors at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150; in-home visits at AED 180 to 500 depending on travel; IGCSE and A Level specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270. For a Year 10 or Year 11 student the middle band is the sensible default. These are market figures with their publishers named, not an IB Gram price list.

Why is an in-home tutor in Arabian Ranches 2 more expensive than an online one?+

Because the hour includes a drive. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table puts ordinary in-home sessions at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor. The difference is travel time priced into the rate, and from the back clusters of Arabian Ranches 2 it is at its largest, because the tutor is driving past Motor City and down Al Qudra Road in evening traffic. IB Gram does not sell home visits in the UAE, so that line never appears on a rate we quote you.

Where do families in this part of Dubailand waste the most tutoring money?+

Four places, in order of size. Paying a travel premium that was not a deliberate choice. Hiring a generalist who prepares the wrong paper pair, which wastes the entire spend rather than part of it. Buying three single-subject tutors for a child entered for Co-ordinated Sciences 0654, which is one entry at reduced depth. And starting six weeks out, where specialist monthly costs reach AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more, instead of twenty weeks out at a quarter of the intensity. The cheapest grade is nearly always the one bought early.

Is a cheap tutor at AED 60 an hour ever the right choice?+

Yes, for the right job. A student in Year 7 or Year 8 who needs company and supervision while homework gets finished is well served by the budget band, and paying specialist rates for that is waste in the other direction. The band stops being appropriate the moment the work becomes board-specific: tier decisions, paper technique, practical papers and timed scripts need somebody who has taught the syllabus. Match the tier of tutor to the tier of problem and the budget looks after itself.

What does it cost to enter my child for IGCSE exams as a private candidate?+

Entry fees are set and collected by the examination centre rather than by Cambridge or Pearson, so there is no single published figure we can honestly quote, and it varies between centres in Dubai. Ask the centre directly for its current private-candidate fee schedule and whether it charges a separate administration fee. If your child is entered through their school, the fee is usually inside the school's own billing and you may never see it as a separate line. Budget for it explicitly if you are planning a November resit.

Which subject should we spend on first if we can only afford one?+

Mathematics, in most cases. The losses are procedural and repeatable, they can be diagnosed from one marked paper, and eight to twelve focused hours move a boundary more reliably than in any other subject. The exception is when a science practical paper is the gap: Paper 5 or Paper 6 carries twenty percent of the grade in Cambridge Biology, Chemistry and Physics and is the component students revise last. Choose on evidence from a marked script, not on which subject feels worst.

Does a Core tier entry limit the grade my child can be awarded?+

Yes, and this is the most expensive thing most families learn too late. In Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580, Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3 and cannot be awarded above a grade C; Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4 and the range runs A* to E. Pearson tiers differently: Mathematics A Foundation reports grades 5 to 1, Higher reports 9 to 4 with an allowed 3. If your child is working above their entry tier, the fix is an entry change through the school's exams officer, not a term of lessons.

How many sessions should we commit to at the start?+

Four, then review. A block of four lets a tutor diagnose properly, fix one thing and show you evidence on a timed question, which is enough to judge the match. At published mid-band rates four hours is roughly AED 600 to 1,200, which is a reasonable sum to risk on finding out. Open-ended weekly commitments made in week one are how arrangements drift for a term without anyone measuring them. Review at session six against marks, not against how the lessons felt.

Are the Cambridge and Pearson exam timetables the same for a Dubai centre?+

No, and the difference has a cost. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. Pearson publishes one timetable per series with provisional versions ahead of time. Get the timetable from your school's exams officer and treat any date restated on a third-party page, including this one, as something to verify.

Can we reduce the bill by sharing a tutor between two children?+

Sometimes, and only when the children are genuinely at the same point. Small-group rates are published lower per student than one-to-one, so two siblings in the same subject and tier can work. Two siblings two years apart cannot: the hour splits and each child gets half a lesson at a shared price. For families in Rosa and Lila with several children at different stages, staggered shorter slots usually cost less in total than one long shared session that suits neither child.

What happens to the money if the first tutor is not the right match?+

You change tutor rather than persisting. The free trial exists precisely so that the match question is answered before payment, and if the fit is wrong after the first paid sessions we rematch rather than asking you to make it work. What we will not do is offer a refund tied to a grade outcome, because that is a promise about a result nobody can control. The honest protection is a short initial block, a written plan and a review at session six.

Which work permit lets a teacher in Dubai take paid tutoring work legally?+

It is a fair question to ask and an easy one to answer. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. MoHRE's service page states a two-working-day completion time with no fee. Those offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no official fine schedule is published, so treat quoted amounts with caution.

Can our child be tutored by a teacher from their own school?+

That is the one arrangement to avoid. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the code of conduct attached to the MoHRE private tuition permit also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Beyond the rules, it is a poor arrangement: the person who set the assessment should not be paid to prepare your child for it. Use someone independent of the school instead.

Will tutoring help with the Ministry of Education equivalency our child needs?+

Tutoring helps with the grades; it does not perform the process, and no tutor should imply otherwise. On the British track, students must pass five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Verify current requirements with the Ministry of Education directly, because published summaries change and a competitor page currently states the wrong subject count.

Are IGCSE lessons delivered online as effective for a Year 11 in an exam year?+

For paper technique, which is what an exam year is mostly about, the format barely matters. Timed questions, marked scripts and a shared screen with annotation work well over live video, and recording the session lets a student re-watch a worked method rather than rely on memory. Where online delivery needs more deliberate effort is practical skills for Paper 5 and Paper 6, which require real apparatus discussion and careful walkthroughs of method and variable control. Ask any tutor directly how they handle the practical component before you book.

Start with the numbers, then book the trial

Read the rate bands above before you speak to anyone, so the first conversation is about teaching rather than price discovery. Then send us the syllabus code and the last marked script, and take the free trial lesson: one per student, booked before any payment, with no card details taken. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, scheduled around a Dubailand school run rather than a drive into it. If the honest answer after the trial is that your child does not need paid hours, we will tell you that instead of selling you a term.
