IGCSE Maths Tutor in Arabian Ranches 2

Before you price an IGCSE maths tutor in Arabian Ranches 2, find out which tier your child is entered for. A Cambridge Core entry in 0580 cannot be awarded above a grade C however well the candidate performs, so the same money buys a different ceiling depending on one code on an exam slip. This page works through tier, board, monthly cost and the places a maths budget leaks in this community. Lessons run one-to-one over live video.

  • Tier and syllabus code checked before any plan is priced

IB & IGCSE in Arabian Ranches 2

The cheapest grade is the one bought before the entry code is fixed

Every conversation about what an IGCSE maths tutor in Arabian Ranches 2 should cost skips the question that decides the answer. Which tier is the child entered for, and under which board. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 splits candidates into Core and Extended. Core candidates sit Paper 1 and Paper 3, and the award cannot exceed a grade C. Extended candidates sit Paper 2 and Paper 4 and the range runs from A* to E. Pearson's Mathematics Specification A, code 4MA1, splits into Foundation, reporting grades 5 to 1, and Higher, reporting 9 to 4 with an allowed 3.

This changes the economics of tutoring completely. Thirty hours bought for a Core candidate who is already comfortably achieving a C buys nothing at all, because the ceiling is already reached. Four hours bought in Year 9, which establishes that the same child should be entered for Extended, changes what every subsequent hour is capable of producing. Families in this community routinely do the first and almost never do the second, which is the largest single waste of money in IGCSE maths.

The second thing that moves the price is the board, and specifically the calculator rule. In Cambridge 0580 the Extended pair is Paper 2, two hours and 100 marks without a calculator, and Paper 4, two hours and 100 marks with one. In Pearson 4MA1 both papers are two hours and 100 marks and a calculator is permitted in both. A tutor who drills calculator methods for a child sitting a non-calculator Cambridge paper is being paid to make that child slower. Buying by syllabus code rather than by subject name costs nothing and removes the risk entirely.

Arabian Ranches 2 pays a particular version of the market premium. It is a villa community off Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street with no secondary school inside the gates, so every Year 10 and Year 11 is bussed out to Motor City, Dubai Sports City, Nad Al Sheba, Al Barsha South or the Sustainable City. Published in-home rates in Dubai run from AED 180 to 500 an hour because somebody is driving into Dubailand in evening traffic; qualified online subject tutors are published at AED 150 to 300. For a family in Camelia or Azalea, at the back of the community, that difference is the largest it gets.

IB Gram delivers IGCSE Mathematics support to Arabian Ranches 2 as one-to-one lessons over live video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not run home visits in the UAE; those are an India-only service. What the community gets instead is a tutor matched to the exact code and tier, no travel inside the hourly figure, and a plan priced monthly so a term can be budgeted rather than guessed at.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics

The commonest entry in Dubai's British-curriculum schools. Core candidates sit Paper 1, one hour thirty without a calculator, and Paper 3, one hour thirty with one, each 80 marks and half the grade. Extended candidates sit Paper 2, two hours without a calculator, and Paper 4, two hours with one, each 100 marks and half the grade.

The 2025 to 2027 specification introduced the non-calculator paper, which means teaching materials written before it are actively misleading. Any tutor quoting for this syllabus should be able to say which paper forbids technology without being asked, and should be setting non-calculator practice from the first session rather than at the end.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A

Two papers of two hours and 100 marks each at both tiers, with a calculator permitted throughout. Foundation tier reports grades 5 to 1; Higher tier reports 9 to 4 with an allowed 3. Students near the tier boundary are effectively choosing between a comfortable 5 and a risky 4, which is a decision worth an hour of a tutor's time on its own.

Pearson runs International GCSE in a May/June and a November series each year. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Provisional timetables are published ahead of each series, so check the live PDF.

0606Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics

Taken alongside 0580 Extended by students heading for A Level Mathematics or Diploma Analysis and Approaches. Calculus and trigonometric identities arrive early and assume an algebraic fluency most Year 11 students have not yet built. The hardest maths code in this catchment to staff locally, and therefore the one where widening the tutor pool matters most.

Families often discover mid-year that the school has entered a child for 0606 as an enrichment subject without additional teaching time. That is the situation in which paid support genuinely earns its cost, because the alternative is a half-prepared second maths entry sitting next to the one that actually matters for sixth-form places.

0607Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics

Used by some IB-continuum schools in Dubai as the route into Diploma mathematics. It is assessed differently from 0580 and includes a graphics display calculator investigation component, so a tutor whose experience is entirely 0580 will plan the wrong preparation even though the content overlaps heavily.

If your child's school runs the IB Diploma, check whether maths is entered as 0580 or 0607 before buying anything. The two codes produce different session plans, and the investigation component in particular needs practice that no amount of past-paper drilling on 0580 provides.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

An IGCSE maths budget is spent on components and topics, not on the subject as a whole. The entries below are the units a session actually gets built from, ordered by how reliably paid hours convert into marks.

Non-calculator paper technique

Cambridge 0580 Papers 1 and 2

Exact values, surd manipulation, index laws, fraction arithmetic and standard form at speed. Half the Cambridge grade sits on a paper where none of this can be checked with a device. It is also the most diagnosable weakness in the subject: one marked paper shows it immediately, and eight to twelve hours of drilling shifts it.

Algebraic manipulation

Extended and Higher tier

Expanding, factorising, algebraic fractions, rearranging and completing the square. Not a topic so much as the machinery every other topic runs on. A student who is slow here loses marks everywhere and appears to have gaps in six different places at once, which is why generalist tutors chase symptoms for a term.

Multi-step problem setup

Pearson 4MA1 Higher

Both Pearson papers permit a calculator, so arithmetic is rarely the barrier. Marks go instead on reading a wordy question, defining what is being solved for and choosing the right route. This responds to practice on whole past papers rather than topic exercises, and it is quick to improve once identified.

Trigonometry and bearings

All codes

Sine and cosine rules, area of a triangle, three-dimensional problems and bearings. Reliably the largest single topic loss in this catchment after algebra. Students usually know the formulae and lose marks on diagram interpretation, so the fix is drawing practice rather than more formula recall.

Probability and set notation

All codes

Tree diagrams, conditional probability, Venn diagrams and set notation. Cheap to fix and frequently ignored because it appears late in the scheme of work. Three or four hours here often returns more marks per dirham than the same time spent on a harder topic the student is already half-competent at.

Graphs, functions and transformations

Extended and Higher tier

Sketching, intersections, gradients, transformations of functions and reading solutions from a graph. On Cambridge Paper 4 and Pearson Paper 2 this is calculator territory, and fluency with a graphic display calculator converts directly into saved time elsewhere in the paper.

Calculus and identities

Cambridge 0606 only

Differentiation, integration, stationary points and trigonometric identities, taught at pace and assuming fluency. This is where 0606 students fall behind and where specialist teaching is genuinely necessary rather than merely helpful. Fifteen to twenty-five hours is a realistic figure rather than an upsell.

Graphics calculator investigation

Cambridge 0607

An investigative component with its own demands: exploring a situation with technology, noticing structure and communicating the finding. Students who are strong on routine questions often score poorly here, and no amount of 0580 past-paper work prepares them, because 0580 does not contain anything like it.

Tier and entry review

Years 9 to 11

Not a topic but the highest-return piece of work available. Reading a marked paper against the tier the child is entered for, and saying plainly whether the entry matches the performance. Four hours here in Year 9 is worth more than thirty in Year 11, because it decides what every later hour can achieve.

Timed paper work

Final two terms

Whole papers under exam conditions, marked immediately, with error categories counted each time. The only component where progress can be measured honestly week to week, and the work that should dominate spending in the final eight weeks rather than new teaching.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy IGCSE maths help, priced very differently. The right one depends on how far from a series you are and whether the problem is content, tier or technique.

The tier review, four hours

A short block bought to answer one question: does the entry match the performance. Works from a marked paper, ends in a written recommendation the family can take to the school's exams officer. Cheapest item on this page and the one with the largest effect on everything bought afterwards.

  • Four hours at the published mid band is roughly AED 600 to 1,200 in total
  • Best in Year 9 or Year 10 term three, before entry codes are submitted
  • Produces a document, not an impression

Weekly one-to-one, one hour

A fixed slot from Year 10 or from the January mock results, with the same tutor each week. The easiest shape to budget because the monthly figure does not move, and the most efficient for a single weak subject where the content genuinely needs building.

  • Published monthly estimates for weekly mid-tier support: AED 600 to 1,200
  • Sixty minutes suits one topic plus a timed question; ninety suits a full paper
  • Same tutor weekly, so no hour is spent re-establishing what is already known

Small group of two to four

Lower per student than one-to-one and genuinely useful when two or three students are at the same tier with the same gaps. It stops working the moment the group is mixed, because the hour then splits and each student receives a fraction of a lesson at a shared price.

  • Only sensible where tier, board and topic weaknesses genuinely match
  • Published monthly packages in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions
  • Two siblings two years apart are not a group; they are two half-lessons

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches 2

01

What the entry code commits you to, and what it costs to find out late

An exam entry is a contract about the maximum grade available. In Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580, a Core candidate sits Paper 1 and Paper 3 and cannot be awarded above a grade C. An Extended candidate sits Paper 2 and Paper 4 and the award range runs A* to E. Pearson's 4MA1 divides into Foundation, reporting 5 to 1, and Higher, reporting 9 to 4 with an allowed 3. Nothing a tutor does changes which of those applies; only the school's exams officer can.

The money consequence is blunt. A Core candidate already achieving a secure C has reached the ceiling, and every hour bought after that point purchases confidence rather than grades. Families in Arabian Ranches 2 buy those hours regularly, usually because nobody told them the entry was capped. The conversation that prevents it takes ten minutes with the school and costs nothing.

In the other direction, a student entered for Extended who is not coping with the Extended paper pair is in a more expensive position. Dropping to Core protects a grade but caps it at C, which may close off the sixth-form subject the family is aiming at. Staying on Extended means thirty hours of catch-up rather than ten. This is the decision a four-hour diagnostic block exists to inform, and it has to happen before the entry deadline rather than after the mocks.

Dates matter here because they sit months ahead of the papers. UAE candidates sit a June series and a November series, and Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE timetable shows the shape: the papers run from late October to 19 November 2026, results reach students in January, and the entry closes early in the autumn term before most centres have run a single mock. For a Cambridge June sitting the gap is wider still, with entries closing in the spring, roughly four months out, on a date your centre prints on the statement of entry. An October tier conversation is timely for either. An April one is a conversation about resits.

Price it monthly, because that is how the household actually pays

Hourly rates are how the market quotes and monthly totals are how families decide. Published monthly estimates for a single weekly hour in Dubai are AED 240 to 600 at the budget tier, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, according to Bestimate's 2026 rate work. Packages exist too: published examples in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Reading those monthly bands against a school year is more useful than comparing hourly figures. A sensible IGCSE maths plan is light from Year 10 term two, slightly heavier in Year 11 term one when mocks produce real data, and intense only for the final six to eight weeks. Spread that way, the total across two years sits well below what a panicked February costs, because the February version buys specialist-band intensity for two months to compress work that nine months would have absorbed comfortably.

The hourly ladder, for reference and with sources named: budget online and university-student tutors advertise from around AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52; qualified online subject tutors sit at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150; in-home visits run AED 180 to 500, with Bestimate at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500; specialists reach AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270; and premium named tutors run to AED 500 to 650 and beyond, with BartyED at AED 650.

One piece of context worth having while you plan. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. It means the larger education line in a Ranches 2 household budget is stable this year, which makes planning the tutoring line against a term rather than a crisis realistic.

Cambridge against Pearson: the same maths, a different purchase

Parents often assume IGCSE maths is one thing and that a good maths tutor covers it. The content does overlap heavily. What differs is the assessment, and assessment is what the final eight weeks of tutoring are spent on. Getting this wrong is not a small inefficiency; it is paying for preparation aimed at papers your child will not sit.

The sharpest difference is the calculator. Cambridge Extended candidates sit Paper 2 for two hours with no calculator, which puts half the grade on handwritten arithmetic, surds, exact values and standard form. Pearson 4MA1 permits a calculator in both papers, which removes arithmetic as a barrier and shifts the losses onto problem setup and multi-step reasoning. A revision plan built for one board is close to useless for the other in the weeks that matter.

Paper length and mark totals differ too. Cambridge Core sits two papers of ninety minutes and 80 marks; Cambridge Extended sits two of two hours and 100 marks; Pearson sits two of two hours and 100 marks at both tiers. Pacing practice has to match the real paper, because a student trained to a ninety-minute rhythm runs out of concentration in a two-hour paper and a student trained to two hours leaves marks on the table in a shorter one.

Grade scales complete the picture and matter for sixth-form applications. Cambridge IGCSE reports A* to G; Pearson International GCSE reports 9 to 1. A school asking for a grade 6 in maths for A Level entry and a school asking for a B are asking for broadly comparable things, but the comparison has to be made deliberately rather than assumed, and the published requirement for the specific school is the only safe reference.

04

Where the hours go, and which topics actually repay them

An IGCSE maths budget disappears into a small number of topics, and knowing which ones changes how a term is bought. Algebraic manipulation is first, and it is not really a topic. Expanding, factorising, handling algebraic fractions and completing the square are the machinery every other question runs on. A student who is slow here appears to have gaps in six places at once, which is why a generalist tutor chases symptoms for a term while the cause sits untouched.

Trigonometry is second and is usually misdiagnosed. Students know the sine and cosine rules; they lose marks reading a diagram, placing a bearing or seeing the right triangle inside a three-dimensional shape. The fix is drawing and annotating practice rather than formula recall, which is a different kind of session and a shorter one.

Then there is the cheap end of the list, which families skip because it feels unserious. Probability, set notation and Venn diagrams are late in most schemes of work, lightly taught and worth real marks. Three or four hours there often returns more per dirham than the same time spent on a hard topic the student is already half-competent at. Buying marks where they are cheapest is not a compromise; it is how a capped budget produces a grade.

The non-calculator paper deserves its own line for Cambridge candidates. Half the Extended grade sits on Paper 2, where exact values, surds, index laws and fraction arithmetic cannot be checked with a device. It is the single most diagnosable weakness in the subject - one marked paper reveals it - and eight to twelve hours of short, frequent drilling shifts it reliably. Short and frequent beats long and occasional here, which also makes it the easiest work to fit around a Dubailand school run.

Group hours against one-to-one: the arithmetic of a shared lesson

Small-group tuition is quoted per student and looks like an obvious saving. It is a real saving in one specific situation and a false economy in every other. The condition is simple: the students must be on the same board, at the same tier, with substantially the same weaknesses. Two Year 11s both sitting Cambridge Extended who both lose marks on surds and algebraic fractions can work together productively, and the per-student rate genuinely falls.

Change any one of those variables and the economics invert. A Core candidate and an Extended candidate in the same hour are sitting different papers with different calculator rules, so the tutor alternates and each student receives roughly half a lesson at a shared price. A Pearson student and a Cambridge student need different past papers. Two siblings two years apart are not a group at all; they are two half-lessons sold as one.

There is a quieter cost too. In a group, nobody's marked script gets read closely. The most valuable single activity in IGCSE maths tutoring is sitting with one student while they rewrite a solution properly, and that is a one-to-one activity by definition. Families who move to a group to save money sometimes find the sessions become content revision - comfortable, pleasant and unmeasurable.

The sensible pattern for a Ranches 2 family on a tight budget is not a group; it is fewer one-to-one hours used better. One hour a week with a tutor matched to the exact code, built on a marked script, with the student doing timed practice independently between sessions, beats two group hours a week at a similar total cost. If the budget only supports a group, insist that tier and board match before the first session rather than discovering the mismatch in week four.

Additional Mathematics 0606 and the premium nobody mentions

Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 is the most expensive line in a Ranches 2 maths budget, and it is usually unplanned. Schools enter able Year 11 students for it alongside 0580 Extended, sometimes with extra timetabled lessons and sometimes without. Where the teaching time is not there, the family ends up buying it, because a half-prepared second maths entry is worse than no second entry at all.

The reason it costs more is scarcity. The number of tutors in the Dubailand villa belt who have taught 0606 to exam is small, and they are generally already teaching it in schools. This is the clearest case in this whole subject for widening the pool beyond driving distance: the code either has a specialist or it does not, and geography has nothing to do with which.

The content is the other reason. Calculus and trigonometric identities arrive early and the course assumes algebraic fluency that most Year 11 students are still building. Fifteen to twenty-five hours is a realistic estimate rather than a sales figure, and it should start the moment the entry is confirmed rather than after the first poor assessment. Students who took 0606 tend to land more comfortably in A Level Mathematics and in Diploma Analysis and Approaches, so the spend has a return - but only if the preparation is real.

The honest advice some families need is to decline the entry. If a Year 11 is already stretched by 0580 Extended, three sciences and the mandatory UAE subject load, adding a second maths qualification that will be half-prepared helps nobody. That conversation belongs with the school before the entry deadline, and for a Cambridge June sitting that deadline falls in the spring term, roughly four months ahead of the papers themselves, which is long before the point at which the strain actually becomes obvious.

07

What a November resit really costs, and when to decide

A resit is a second entry plus a short block of teaching, and it is cheaper than a repeated year by a very wide margin. The timing of the decision is what determines the cost. Pearson's rhythm makes the window visible: June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026, and the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. That is roughly nine weeks between a disappointing grade and the next set of papers.

Nine weeks is enough for a targeted second attempt and not enough for a rebuild. The work that fits is narrow: identify which paper lost the marks, which topics inside it, and drill those under time. The work that does not fit is reteaching a two-year course. Families who try the second version spend specialist-band money for two months and arrive at the papers tired, which is why deciding in advance is worth so much.

Deciding in advance means budgeting for the resit in spring, not in August. If a Year 11 is borderline in February, set aside the entry fee and a short block of hours then, and treat it as insurance you hope not to use. Entry fees for private candidates are set by the examination centre rather than by the board, so ask your centre for its current schedule rather than relying on a figure from a page like this one.

Cambridge offers a comparable second chance on a different clock. There is a June series and a November series, and no February or March option for a UAE candidate, because Cambridge runs that sitting in India only. The decision you are really making is therefore June-then-November or November-then-June, and the entry for whichever comes second closes months ahead of it: spring for a June sitting, early autumn for a November one. Note how far ahead that puts the deadline. A family waiting for August results before deciding about a November entry is already working against the clock, so ask the exams officer for the current date as soon as the first sitting is over.

08

What not to buy, and what to ask before you pay

  • Ask which code and tier the tutor has taught to exam, not which subject
  • Ask which paper forbids a calculator - the answer tells you everything
  • Expect a four-session plan built on the script you sent, in writing
  • Expect ranges and conditions, never a promised grade

Four purchases waste money reliably in this community. Hours bought for a capped entry that is already achieved. A generalist tutor who has not taught the code and prepares the wrong paper pair. A travel premium paid by default because a search returned the word nearby. And intensity bought in the final six weeks to replace regularity that nine months would have provided more cheaply.

A fifth, less obvious, is buying maths when the problem is not maths. A student whose marks fall while effort rises usually has a pacing, sleep or workload problem rather than a knowledge gap, and it shows up as unfinished papers rather than wrong answers. Thirty hours of content teaching will not move that. One honest diagnostic hour will identify it, and the fix is often a conversation with the school rather than a purchase.

Before paying anybody, ask four questions. Which syllabus code and tier have you taught to exam. Which paper in that code forbids a calculator. What will the first four sessions cover, based on the marked script I have sent you. And what would count as progress by session four. A tutor who answers all four concretely is worth the mid band; one who cannot answer the second is not worth the budget band.

Our own position, stated plainly: one free trial lesson per student, booked before any payment and with no card details taken at that point. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE at all. Every AED figure on this page belongs to the publisher named beside it and describes the market, not our price list. And no tutor can promise a grade, so treat any number offered in place of a plan with scepticism.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Arabian Ranches 2

What changes between Dubailand communities is the travel premium a visiting tutor prices in, and how much usable evening a family has left. Both affect the bill rather than the maths.

Casa and Rosa

Nearest the Al Qudra Road side of Arabian Ranches 2, so the morning run is short and the evening return slower. A visiting tutor quoting for 16:30 is realistically arriving at 17:15, and the premium in the rate is covering that gap rather than anything that reaches your child.

Palma and Lila

Townhouse-dense clusters with buses that leave early and return late. A Year 11 can be home after 16:00 even on a 15:15 finish. Families here get the clearest value from an online slot at 17:30, because nothing is being billed for a drive that happens twice.

Camelia and Azalea

The back clusters, furthest from the community entrance and the most expensive in Dubailand to serve with a travelling tutor. The published in-home band of AED 180 to 500 sits at its upper end here, for teaching that is available online at AED 150 to 300.

Reem, Yasmin and Rasha

Larger family villas with more Year 10 and Year 11 students, and the clusters that generate most of the Extended tier and 0606 demand in this part of Dubai. Subject specificity matters more than proximity, because the required tutor often does not live in the villa belt at all.

Arabian Ranches and Arabian Ranches 3

The communities either side, sharing bus routes and much of the school catchment. Quotes to a Ranches 3 family are effectively identical to those for Ranches 2, because the distance from the city is what is being priced, not the postcode.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Where a large share of this catchment attends school rather than where it lives. A student whose school is here occasionally has a usable pre-drive slot, the one scenario in which an early session works for non-calculator practice.

DAMAC Hills, Mudon and Town Square

Similar travel profile and similar quotes. Jebel Ali School inside DAMAC Hills shortens the run for some families, which shows up as a slightly earlier workable session time rather than a different rate.

Remraam and the Al Qudra corridor

The longest journeys in this group, served in part by South View School. Families here most often split the week into one weekend session and one short weekday slot, which also happens to be the cheaper shape.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Arabian Ranches 2

British-curriculum secondary schools this community uses

The schools that set the tier entries and the mock timetable for Arabian Ranches 2 students. Entry decisions are made here, which is why the exams officer rather than the tutor is the right first call about a tier change.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) Arabian Ranches
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Kent College Dubai
  • Jebel Ali School, DAMAC Hills
  • South View School, Remraam
  • Dubai British School Mira

IB-continuum and other nearby options

Relevant because a school running the Diploma may enter maths as Cambridge 0607 rather than 0580, which changes the tutoring plan even though the content overlaps.

  • Fairgreen International School
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Dwight School Dubai
  • The Aquila School, Dubailand
  • GEMS FirstPoint School, The Villa

Schools appear here as catchment context for Arabian Ranches 2 families only. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school, school group or regulator named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Find the code and the tier

Look at the exam entry, the front of the textbook or a mock paper header: 0580 Core, 0580 Extended, 4MA1 Foundation, 4MA1 Higher, 0606 or 0607. Everything about the plan and the price follows from this, and it is the one piece of information families most often do not have to hand.

  2. 02

    Send the last marked paper

A mock script with a teacher's annotations lets a tutor sort the losses before the trial: arithmetic slips, unwritten method, misread questions, blanks and real content gaps. The proportions decide the first four sessions, and they usually contradict what everyone assumed the problem was.

  3. 03

    Settle the tier question first

If the entry and the performance do not match, that is the first job and it is a school conversation rather than a teaching one. We will put the recommendation in writing for you to take to the exams officer, including the deadline you are working against.

  4. 04

Take the free trial, then agree a monthly figure

One free trial lesson per student, before any payment and with no card details taken. Afterwards we agree hours per week and a monthly total, so the spend is predictable across a term rather than accumulating hour by hour without anyone adding it up.

  5. 05

Review at session six on timed marks

Progress gets measured on timed questions marked against the real scheme, not on how lessons felt. At six sessions we look at the numbers, change tutor if the match is wrong, and say plainly if the remaining problem is pacing or workload rather than mathematics.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The tier question asked first

A Cambridge 0580 Core entry cannot be awarded above a C, and hours sold to a Core candidate already achieving one buy nothing. We check the entry against the marked script before quoting anything, because that single check decides what every later hour is capable of producing.

Matched to the code, not the subject

0580 Extended forbids a calculator in Paper 2; 4MA1 permits one in both papers; 0607 includes a graphics calculator investigation. Three different jobs behind one phrase. We match on the code on the exam entry so no hour is spent preparing the wrong paper.

Monthly totals, not drip-fed hours

Published monthly bands are on this page - AED 240 to 600 budget, AED 600 to 1,200 mid, AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work, from Bestimate's 2026 estimates. We quote a monthly figure so a term can be budgeted rather than reconstructed afterwards.

No travel inside the rate

In-home rates in Dubai are published at AED 180 to 500 because a car is involved, highest from the back clusters of Arabian Ranches 2. Online delivery at AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor removes that line, which for a capped budget is the easiest saving available.

Cheap marks before hard ones

Probability, set notation and diagram-reading in trigonometry return more per hour than a hard topic the student is already half-competent at. We build the first block where the marks are cheapest, which is how a limited budget produces a grade rather than a feeling of effort.

Sources you can check

Rates are attributed to Bestimate, Unitors, TutorChase, EdFlik, Tutopiya and BartyED. Syllabus and timetable facts come from cambridgeinternational.org and qualifications.pearson.com, and where a date can be revised we point at the live document rather than restating it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches 2: your questions answered

How much does an IGCSE maths tutor in Arabian Ranches 2 cost per month rather than per hour?+

Published monthly estimates for a single weekly hour in Dubai are AED 240 to 600 at the budget tier, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle band and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, from Bestimate's 2026 rate work. Packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. For a Year 10 or Year 11 student the middle band is the sensible default. These are market figures with their publishers named, not an IB Gram price list.

Can my child get an A in maths if they are entered for Cambridge Core tier?+

No. A Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 Core entry cannot be awarded above a grade C, regardless of how well the candidate performs. Core candidates sit Paper 1 and Paper 3; Extended candidates sit Paper 2 and Paper 4 and the range runs A* to E. If your child is working above a C, the fix is an entry change through the school's exams officer, not more lessons. That conversation has to happen before the entry deadline, which sits months ahead of the papers.

Which IGCSE maths paper does not allow a calculator?+

In Cambridge 0580, Paper 1 at Core and Paper 2 at Extended forbid a calculator; Paper 3 and Paper 4 permit one. Each pair splits the grade in half, so for a Cambridge Extended candidate half the award rests on handwritten arithmetic, surds, exact values and standard form. Pearson 4MA1 permits a calculator in both papers at both tiers. Any tutor quoting for this subject should be able to state this rule without being asked, because the revision plan depends entirely on it.

Is it worth paying for maths help in Year 9, before IGCSE starts?+

It is the best value purchase available, and almost nobody makes it. A four-hour block in Year 9 or early Year 10 can establish whether the child should be entered for Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher, and that decision sets the grade ceiling for the whole qualification. At published mid-band rates that block is roughly AED 600 to 1,200. Thirty hours in Year 11 spent working against a capped entry costs far more and cannot change the ceiling at all.

Do Cambridge and Pearson maths need different tutoring in the final weeks?+

Yes, and this is where a board mismatch becomes expensive. Cambridge Extended candidates need protected non-calculator drilling because Paper 2 forbids technology and carries half the grade. Pearson 4MA1 candidates have a calculator in both papers, so their losses sit in reading wordy questions and choosing a route. Past-paper sets are not interchangeable either. Content overlaps heavily across the two boards; assessment does not, and the final eight weeks are almost entirely about assessment.

Which maths topics give the most marks back per hour paid?+

Algebraic manipulation first, because it is the machinery every other topic runs on and a slow student appears to have gaps in six places at once. Then non-calculator technique for Cambridge candidates, which is half the Extended grade. Then the cheap end that families skip: probability, set notation and Venn diagrams are lightly taught, late in most schemes of work and worth real marks. Three or four hours there often beats the same time on a hard topic the student half-knows already.

Is a small group cheaper than one-to-one for IGCSE maths?+

Per student, yes, and it genuinely saves money in one situation: the students share a board, a tier and substantially the same weaknesses. Change any of those and the hour splits. A Core candidate and an Extended candidate sit different papers with different calculator rules, so each receives half a lesson at a shared price. Two siblings two years apart are not a group. On a tight budget, fewer well-matched one-to-one hours usually beat more group hours at the same total.

Why is Additional Mathematics 0606 more expensive to support than 0580?+

Scarcity and content. Few tutors in the Dubailand villa belt have taught 0606 to exam, and those who have are usually teaching it in schools, so the local pool is thin and the rate reflects it. The course also front-loads calculus and trigonometric identities while assuming algebraic fluency most Year 11 students are still building. Fifteen to twenty-five hours is a realistic figure. If the school entered your child without extra teaching time, you are buying that time.

Should we decline an Additional Mathematics entry to save money and time?+

Sometimes, and it is a fair question to put to the school. A Year 11 already carrying 0580 Extended, three sciences and the mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies lessons may not have room for a second maths qualification that will be half-prepared. A poorly prepared 0606 helps no sixth-form application. Have the conversation before the entry deadline rather than after the first assessment, because the deadline sits months ahead of the exam period.

What does a November maths resit actually cost us?+

A second entry fee plus a short targeted block of teaching, which is far cheaper than a repeated year. Entry fees for private candidates are set by the examination centre rather than the board, so ask your centre for its current schedule. The timing is the real cost driver: Pearson June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026 and the November 2026 series ran from late October to 19 November, leaving roughly nine weeks. Budget for it in spring, decide in August.

How far ahead do we have to commit to an exam entry?+

Further than most families expect. UAE candidates sit June and November, and both deadlines land long before the papers. Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students in January, as the November 2025 series did on 22 January 2026; the entry for that sitting closes early in the autumn term. A Cambridge June entry closes in the spring, roughly four months before the first paper, on a date your centre states rather than one we would publish here. Pearson also releases provisional timetables ahead of each series, so get the dates from your school's exams officer rather than from any third-party page, including this one.

Why is an in-home maths tutor more expensive here than an online one?+

Because the rate includes a drive into Dubailand in evening traffic. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table puts ordinary in-home sessions at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor. From the back clusters of Arabian Ranches 2 the premium sits at its highest, because the journey is longest. IB Gram does not sell home visits in the UAE, so no travel line appears in a figure we quote you.

My child works hard at maths and the grade will not move. Should we buy more hours?+

Probably not, at least not yet. Falling or static marks alongside rising effort usually point at pacing, workload or sleep rather than knowledge, and the evidence sits on the script: answered well for two thirds, then abandoned. More content teaching does not fix that and is demoralising, because the student spends the hour being taught what they already know. One diagnostic hour identifies which problem you have, and the fix is sometimes a conversation with the school rather than a purchase.

What should I ask a maths tutor before paying anything?+

Four things. Which syllabus code and tier have you taught to exam. Which paper in that code forbids a calculator. What will the first four sessions cover, given the marked script I sent you. And what would count as progress by session four. Concrete answers to all four justify the mid band of the market. An inability to answer the second question means the tutor has not taught the syllabus, whatever their mathematics background looks like.

Does the Ministry of Education count IGCSE maths towards equivalency?+

Maths counts as one of the subjects in the British-track equivalency requirement, which is five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Tutoring helps with grades and does not perform the process. Verify the current requirement with the Ministry of Education directly before relying on any summary.

Check the entry code, then price the term

Find the syllabus code and tier on your child's exam entry before you price anything. If it says 0580 Core and your child is working above a C, the most valuable thing we can do costs four hours and ends in a letter to the exams officer. If it says Extended, Higher or 0606, send the last marked paper and we will tell you which four sessions come first and what a month of support costs at published market bands. Then take the free trial lesson, one per student, before any payment and with no card details taken.
