IGCSE Home Tutor in Arabian Ranches 2

Hiring an IGCSE home tutor in Arabian Ranches 2 is mostly a pricing decision dressed up as an academic one. Published Dubai rates run from AED 33 an hour to AED 650, a twentyfold spread for work that looks identical in an advertisement. This page sets out what families in Palma, Rosa, Lila and Camelia actually pay by the month, what the travel premium is really buying, and the five places IGCSE tuition money is wasted. IB Gram delivers this teaching live online, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Arabian Ranches 2

The twentyfold price spread, and what explains it

A parent in Arabian Ranches 2 who spends an evening collecting IGCSE tuition quotes ends up with numbers that cannot all be describing the same thing. Tutopiya advertises online sessions from AED 33 to 52 an hour. EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150. TutorChase lists AED 270. BartyED's examiner-led tier is AED 650. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 research puts in-home visits at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. Every one of those figures was published by the company that charges it.

Four things explain the spread, and only two of them are about teaching. The first is who the tutor is: a university student and a subject teacher with a decade of mark-scheme experience are different purchases. The second is whether the person knows the specific syllabus code and tier your child is entered for, which is the difference between useful past-paper work and a term of near misses. The third is whether a car is involved. The fourth is simply what the provider thinks the market will bear.

That third factor is the one worth measuring, because it is the largest single variable and it buys nothing academic at all. Compare the two monthly packages advertised in this market: AED 799 for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Per hour of teaching the in-home package is roughly twice the online one. The extra is fuel, driving time and the fact that a tutor crossing Dubai in the evening can fit fewer students into a week. None of it reaches your child.

Arabian Ranches 2 makes that arithmetic sharper than most addresses. The community sits off Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street past the original Ranches, with Palma, Rosa, Lila, Yasmin, Camelia, Casa and Reem spread across it and Ranches Primary School inside for the early years. Secondary students travel out. A tutor driving in from Al Barsha or Mirdif at five o'clock is paying for that journey twice, once in time and once in the price they have to quote to make the evening worthwhile.

IB Gram is direct about where it stands in that comparison. We do not make home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; sending a tutor to a family's address is a service we run only in India, and it is stated on all forty-eight of our country pages. For UAE families every lesson is delivered live over video, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time. The honest case for that is not that it is better in every way. It is that it removes the largest cost that buys nothing, and it widens the pool from people who can reach Arabian Ranches 2 by five o'clock to everyone who teaches the syllabus.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The stage a child is at changes the cost as much as the rate does, because it changes how many hours are needed. These are the three stages where Arabian Ranches 2 families most often buy IGCSE support, with the honest cost implication of each.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Years 10 and 11

Two years to terminal written examinations in the May/June or November series. Cambridge syllabuses are tiered into Core and Extended with separate theory papers and a practical or alternative-to-practical component; Pearson Edexcel runs untiered papers with experimental skills examined inside them. The number of subjects a student carries, usually eight to ten, is what makes the tuition arithmetic difficult.

Arabian Ranches 2 secondary students travel out to campuses across the Dubailand belt and towards Al Barsha South, so an evening session realistically starts after five. The cost consequence is that a tutor making a visit to Palma or Camelia can serve fewer families per week, which is reflected in every in-home quote a parent will receive.

LSAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Years 7 to 9, before the course begins

The three years when tuition is cheapest and most effective per dirham spent. The skills that decide IGCSE outcomes, rearranging formulae, standard form, scale reading, graph plotting, planning a long written answer, can be made automatic here in a handful of sessions rather than repaired under pressure two years later.

Ranches Primary School covers the early years inside Arabian Ranches 2 before children move on. Families who buy a short block in Year 8 or Year 9 typically spend a fraction of what the same household spends in Year 11, and they spend it without the deadline pressure that pushes parents towards the premium tier.

POST16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level or IB Diploma after IGCSE

The two post-16 routes available around the belt. A Level is linear with practical endorsement; the IB Diploma assesses papers plus an internal assessment and adds Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and creativity, activity, service. Both assume Extended-tier IGCSE content, which is where tier decisions made in Year 10 come back with a price attached.

Jebel Ali School in DAMAC Hills and GEMS Metropole School in Motor City take the A Level route; JESS Arabian Ranches and the IB campuses around Dubai Hills Estate and The Sustainable City take the Diploma. A Core-tier candidate heading for either route usually needs a summer catch-up block, which is a cost worth forecasting in Year 10 rather than discovering in Year 12.

RESITAges 15-17

November series and resit entries

Cambridge runs June and November series; Pearson Edexcel runs May/June and November. A November entry is a normal route rather than a penalty, and for a single weak subject it is often cheaper than a year of general support. Entry is made through a centre, and entry fees vary by centre, so the figure must be requested from the centre directly.

For a family in Arabian Ranches 2 the practical question is which centre the school uses and whether it accepts the entry, since not every school enters candidates in every series. Ask the examinations officer, and ask for the centre's own fee schedule in writing rather than relying on any figure found online.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cost varies by subject more than most families expect, because the market for a tutor varies by subject. These notes describe each IGCSE subject by how easy it is to find someone competent and what that does to the price.

Mathematics, Cambridge 0580

Core and Extended

The deepest tutor market in Dubai and therefore the most competitively priced. Plenty of people can teach IGCSE mathematics well, which pushes rates towards the middle of the published range. The quality variable to test is whether the tutor marks against the scheme rather than only checking answers.

Additional Mathematics, Cambridge

Extended only

A much thinner market than 0580 and priced accordingly. Taken by a minority of Year 11 students, it introduces calculus early and is the best possible preparation for post-16 science or mathematics. Expect to pay towards the specialist band because fewer tutors cover it.

Physics, Cambridge 0625 or Pearson 4PH1

Core, Extended or untiered

Harder to staff than mathematics, especially at Extended tier, which moves the price up. Graph interpretation and formula rearrangement cause most of the lost marks, and both are cheaper to fix than the content, which is worth knowing before buying a long content-led block.

Chemistry, Cambridge 0620 or Pearson 4CH1

Core, Extended or untiered

Extended-tier quantitative chemistry, mole calculations and electrolysis, is where a specialist earns the premium. A generalist science tutor can handle Core-tier work adequately; the same person will struggle with a two-step mole calculation under the time pressure of Paper 4.

Biology, Cambridge 0610 or Pearson 4BI1

Core, Extended or untiered

Widely taught and reasonably priced. Biology marks are lost to vocabulary precision rather than reasoning, so the useful work is specific and quick: distinguishing diffusion, osmosis and active transport in the exact terms the scheme uses, and answering the command word that was actually asked.

Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 or Double Award 4SD0

Double award

A single tutor can usually cover the whole double award, which makes it cheaper per grade than three separate sciences. The hidden cost arrives later: the content gap into A Level or Diploma science is wider from a double award, and closing it is a separate purchase in Year 11 or the summer after.

English Language, Cambridge 0500 or 0990

Core and Extended

Priced in the middle of the market. The marks move through structure and timing rather than through reading more, so a short block on planning a response and managing the clock is usually better value than a standing weekly commitment across two years.

English Literature

IGCSE

A thinner market than English Language and priced slightly higher. The work that counts is essay construction against the assessment criteria and precise textual reference, which means a tutor needs to have taught the set texts rather than read them.

Business Studies and Economics

IGCSE

Well supplied in Dubai and reasonably priced. Case-study technique and command-word discipline carry most of the available marks, and both transfer between the two subjects, so a student taking both gets more from one block of technique work than from two subject blocks.

Computer Science and ICT

IGCSE

A thin tutor market relative to demand, which pushes rates up. Pseudocode, trace tables and the practical component need someone who has taught the specific syllabus, because the notation conventions differ between boards and losing marks on notation is common.

Arabic as a first or additional language

Mandatory in Dubai private schools

Required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum. KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students in Arabic as a first language, and that all teachers of Arabic hold appropriate KHDA approval to teach it in school. Tuition demand is high and the market is specialised.

Islamic Education and Social Studies

Mandatory in Dubai private schools

Also mandatory alongside the international curriculum, with KHDA setting the language of instruction and the class organisation rules. For the mandatory subjects, additional or different content may not be used without prior permission from the Ministry of Education, which constrains how any tuition material can be described.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy IGCSE support, compared on what each actually costs per hour of teaching rather than on the headline rate. All IB Gram lessons run live over video; the in-home column is in the comparison because it is what the market sells.

Weekly one-to-one, live online

A fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time with the same tutor, taught to the syllabus code and tier on the entry. Nothing in the price is paying for travel, so the whole fee buys teaching time, and the slot does not move when Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street is slow at six o'clock.

  • No travel component in the rate
  • Session starts when your child is home, not when the tutor arrives
  • Past paper, mark scheme and script on one screen
  • Same tutor weekly, so nothing is re-explained

Finite block before a mock or a series

A defined number of sessions aimed at one objective, priced and ended as a block. For IGCSE the most productive order is paper technique first, then the two weakest topics, then timed full papers. A block has a stopping point, which is the main defence against a weekly commitment that runs for two years out of habit.

  • Fixed number of sessions, fixed objective, clear end
  • Built backwards from the school's own mock dates
  • Halfway review in writing
  • No rolling commitment after it finishes

Technique-only block across several subjects

The cheapest intervention with the widest reach. Command words, units, significant figures, graph conventions and extended-writing structure are identical across sciences, mathematics and the humanities, so one block moves marks in every subject at once rather than in one.

  • One block, several subjects improved
  • Command words taught as a set with worked examples
  • Graph and table marks earned mechanically
  • Usually four to six sessions rather than a term

Two children, one schedule

Families in Arabian Ranches 2 frequently have two children in different years. Separate one-to-one sessions remain separate, because a Year 9 and a Year 11 student need different things, but the scheduling is handled together so that no single evening carries two sessions and the household calendar stays workable.

  • Separate tutors matched to each child's stage
  • One shared calendar and one point of contact
  • Slots arranged to avoid doubling up an evening
  • Each child's block reviewed on its own terms

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches 2

01

What an IGCSE home tutor actually costs around Arabian Ranches 2

Think in months, not hours, because that is how a household budget works. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 research estimates the monthly cost of a weekly one-hour session at AED 240 to 600 for budget provision, AED 600 to 1,200 for mid-market, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Against those estimates sit two advertised packages: AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Put the two packages on the same footing. Eight online sessions is eight hours for AED 799, roughly AED 100 an hour. Four two-hour in-home sessions is eight hours for AED 1,599 to 1,799, roughly AED 200 to 225 an hour. Same teaching time, double the price, and the difference is a car. For a family in Palma or Camelia running one subject through Year 11, that difference is AED 800 to 1,000 a month, or the cost of a second subject.

The hourly table below sets out every published band with the name of whoever published it. Read it as a market map rather than as a price list, because none of these are IB Gram rates and several are the cheapest end of a provider's range rather than the price a family would actually be quoted. The one figure in the table that is genuinely fixed is the last one: the MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge, so any tutor claiming a permit cost is passing on something that does not exist.

What the table cannot show is fit, which is the variable that decides whether the money works at all. A Year 11 Extended chemistry candidate needs someone who knows Cambridge 0620 Paper 4 and marks against its scheme. That person sits in the AED 150 to 300 band, not at AED 650 and not at AED 45. Paying above the band buys reputation; paying below it buys someone learning the specification alongside your child. Both are expensive in different ways.

What the travel premium buys, and what it does not

The in-home option deserves a fair hearing rather than a dismissal, because for some families it genuinely is the right purchase. A tutor in the room removes the need to supervise a screen, works with the student's own books and notes spread on a table, reads hesitation that a video call flattens, and keeps a distractible fourteen-year-old on task through physical presence alone. For a younger child, or for a student who will not engage with a screen, those are real and they are worth money.

For a Year 11 IGCSE student the same advantages weigh much less. The material is written, the working is shared on screen in either case, the past paper and mark scheme are documents rather than objects, and the student is old enough to run their own session. Set against that, the travel premium is substantial and it also narrows the choice: the tutor pool shrinks to people who can reach Arabian Ranches 2 by early evening and still make the trip worth their while.

IB Gram does not make home visits in Dubai. That is a limit on what we sell rather than a claim about what families should want, and it is stated here because a page that quotes in-home rates without saying so would be misleading. Visits to a family's address are a service we run only in India. For every UAE household the delivery is live video, one-to-one, and the argument for it is the one the table makes: the same teaching time at roughly half the published in-home rate, drawn from a wider pool.

The table also includes the two options families forget to price. A small group at a tuition centre is cheaper per student and requires two trips a week from the parent, which is a cost that never appears on the invoice. School after-school support is usually included in fees already, and it is the first thing to use before paying anyone, because it is free, it is staffed by people who know the student, and it is the only option on the list where the teacher also sets the classwork.

03

The five places IGCSE tuition money gets wasted

  • Buying content lessons when the losses are technique: diagnose first
  • Practising past papers from the wrong board or the wrong tier
  • Spreading too few hours across too many subjects
  • Paying the premium tier for a problem the mid band solves
  • Starting in the final term, when nothing but technique is possible

The first and largest waste is buying content when the problem is technique. A student losing marks to command words, units, significant figures and graph conventions does not need the biology re-explained, and a term of content lessons will not move the grade. The diagnosis takes one session with two marked papers in front of a tutor, and skipping it is how families spend four months on the wrong thing. This is the single most common expensive mistake in this market.

The second is practising the wrong papers. Cambridge Extended papers are not useful for a Core candidate, and Cambridge papers are poor timing practice for a Pearson Edexcel candidate even where the content overlaps. Families who have not confirmed the board, the syllabus code and the tier are frequently buying tuition against the wrong specification, which produces real improvement in material that will not be examined. One email to the school examinations officer prevents it.

The third is spreading hours too thinly. Three subjects at one session a fortnight each produces very little in any of them; one subject at one session a week usually produces a visible change. The fourth is buying the premium tier for a problem it does not solve. An examiner-led tutor at AED 650 an hour is not twice as useful as a subject specialist at AED 250 for a Core-tier candidate who needs graph marks, and the difference compounds over a year.

The fifth is starting too late. A block bought in March of Year 11 can only do paper technique, because there is no time to rebuild content, and it is bought at the point in the year when every good tutor is already full and rates are at their most confident. The same money spent in Year 9 or early Year 10 buys the mathematics-for-science skills that make the whole course easier. Nothing in tutoring is as cheap as acting early, and nothing is as expensive as acting in the last term.

04

Hours rather than rate: how much tuition a Year 11 student needs

Rate is the number families negotiate and hours is the number that decides the bill. Doubling the rate from AED 150 to AED 300 adds AED 600 a month at one session a week. Going from one session a week to three adds AED 1,200 at the lower rate. Frequency is the expensive variable, which means the most useful question is not what a tutor charges but how many hours the problem actually requires.

The honest answer depends on what is wrong. A technique problem across several subjects is four to six sessions, once, and then it is done. A single weak topic in one subject is three or four sessions. A whole subject that has drifted for a year is a term at one session a week. A Core-tier candidate who needs to be ready for Extended-tier content, or for a post-16 science, is a summer block. Only the last of those is genuinely expensive, and it is predictable a year in advance.

What does not work is an open-ended weekly commitment with no stated objective. It is comfortable for everyone, it produces slow improvement, and it costs more over two years than any of the targeted options above. A family in Arabian Ranches 2 paying AED 250 an hour weekly through Years 10 and 11 will spend somewhere around AED 20,000 across the two years. The same money buys a great deal of targeted work, and targeted work is what moves grades.

The table gives indicative hours by scenario. These come from the pattern of enquiries rather than from a study, so they are planning figures and not findings, and no tutor can promise a grade outcome from any number of hours. They are useful as a sanity check: if a provider proposes thirty sessions for a problem that appears in this table as four to six, that is a conversation worth having before the first payment.

The questions to ask before paying for a block

  • Which syllabus code and tier will you teach to?
  • What will the first session diagnose, and how will you report it?
  • Is the rate per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson?
  • Is the quoted figure inclusive of value added tax, in writing?
  • What happens if we stop after one session?
  • Do you hold a current MoHRE private tuition work permit?

Most tuition disappointment in this market is a specification problem rather than a teaching problem, and it is preventable with six questions asked before any money moves. Which syllabus code and tier will you teach to? What will the first session diagnose, and how will you tell me what you found? Is the rate per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson? Does the quoted figure include value added tax? What happens if we stop after one session? And do you hold a current MoHRE private tuition work permit?

The first question matters most because it is the one a weak provider cannot answer. A tutor who says they teach IGCSE chemistry has told you nothing; a tutor who asks whether your child is on Cambridge 0620 Extended or Pearson 4CH1 has told you a great deal. The second question protects against a block that never produces a diagnosis, which is how families end up four months in without knowing whether anything is working.

On the money questions, be specific. Some providers quote per lesson where the lesson is forty-five minutes, which is not the same as an hourly rate. On value added tax, the honest position is that a parent should ask whether the quoted figure is inclusive and get the answer in writing; we do not state the tax treatment of tuition fees as a general fact here, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation rather than an assumption. Ask, and keep the reply.

On the permit, the correct answer is yes, and the correct follow-up is that it cost nothing. The MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years, so a tutor adding a permit cost to a quote is charging for something that is free. Do not accept a quoted fine amount either: no schedule of penalties has been published, so any figure is invented. These two facts alone are worth more than most of what is written about tutoring prices in Dubai.

06

Tuition cost in context: school fees, entries and the fee freeze

Tutoring is rarely the largest line in a Dubai education budget and it is often the only one still moving. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family in Arabian Ranches 2 that means the school line is fixed for a year while the tuition line is entirely discretionary.

The scale of the sector is worth knowing too. Dubai's private schools held 387,441 pupils across 227 schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with the British curriculum the largest at around 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26, American at 14 and the International Baccalaureate at 7. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four British curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6 per cent.

A larger, more competitive school sector is good news for a parent comparing options and neutral for tuition prices, which are set by the availability of tutors rather than by the number of schools. What a bigger sector does change is the tier question: more British-curriculum places means more IGCSE candidates, which keeps mathematics and biology tuition competitively priced and does nothing for the thin markets like Additional Mathematics and Computer Science.

On examination entry costs, this page publishes no figure. Entry fees are set by the centre and vary, and a private candidate entry is priced differently from a school entry, so the only reliable number is the one the centre gives in writing. Ask the school examinations officer for the fee schedule for the series your child will sit. Any figure found on a tutoring page, including this one, should be treated as a prompt to check rather than as a price.

When nobody is available, and what we say then

No tutoring provider covers every subject at every level in every time slot, and the honest ones say so before taking money rather than afterwards. Thin markets are predictable: Additional Mathematics, Computer Science, English Literature on specific set texts, Arabic as a first language, and Extended-tier physics or chemistry in the weeks immediately before a series. If a provider claims instant availability across all of those, that claim is the thing to question.

What IB Gram does when a specialist is not free is state it and offer the realistic alternative: a different time slot, a later start date, or a tutor who covers the adjacent area with the limitation named. What we do not do is place a general tutor in front of an Extended-tier candidate and let the first month establish that it was not working. That month is expensive in money and more expensive in confidence, especially for a student already behind.

The second honest limit concerns delivery. Every lesson for a UAE family is online. We do not send anyone to an address in Arabian Ranches 2, Palma, Camelia or anywhere else in the Emirates, and no amount of asking changes that, because the service does not exist here. A family that specifically wants a tutor physically present is better served by telling us so, because then at least nobody spends a trial lesson discovering it.

The availability table sets out the pattern as it actually is. Match times are typical rather than guaranteed, and they lengthen in the two months before a series when demand across Dubai peaks at once. The useful planning conclusion for an Arabian Ranches 2 family is that a subject with a thin tutor market should be arranged weeks earlier than a subject with a deep one, and that waiting until the mock results arrive is what turns a mid-band purchase into a premium-band one.

What a parent can verify for nothing

  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free; ask whether your tutor holds one
  • No fine schedule is published, so any quoted penalty amount is invented
  • KHDA inspection reports are free to read and subject-specific
  • Boards publish specifications, timetables and key dates openly
  • Cambridge zone timetables matter; confirm the zone with the school
  • IB Gram holds no regulator or board accreditation and no UAE premises

Three of the most useful checks in this whole process are free, and almost nobody makes them. The first is the permit. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated through a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. MoHRE's service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee, and states a two-working-day completion time.

The second free check is the school. KHDA is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai, and it publishes an inspection report for every private school in the emirate on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak. The reports are free to read and they are specific about teaching quality by subject and phase, which makes them far more useful than any summary. Abu Dhabi families have the equivalent through ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools there.

The third free check is the syllabus. Cambridge and Pearson publish their specifications, timetables and key dates openly, and the school examinations officer will confirm which code and tier your child is entered for. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that the correct zone timetable must be used, because it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong version. That is a free, two-minute check with real consequences.

Two things should be said about what IB Gram is not, because competitors in this market blur them. We are not approved, accredited, licensed or endorsed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and we hold no partnership with any school or school group. We have no office, centre or branch in the UAE, and no overseas telephone number is used as the route for UAE families. A tutoring business with premises here would need a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a specific authorisation we do not hold and do not imply.

Where we tutor

Arabian Ranches 2 and the belt around it, priced

Each note below is about the economics of tutoring in that community rather than its schools: how far a visiting tutor has to drive, what that does to a quote, and when a session can realistically start.

Arabian Ranches 2

Palma, Rosa, Lila, Yasmin, Camelia, Casa and Reem, off Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. Far enough out that a visiting tutor is making a dedicated trip rather than fitting you between two others, which is visible in every in-home quote a family here receives.

Arabian Ranches

The original community next door, with JESS Arabian Ranches inside it. Slightly closer to the city, so in-home quotes here tend to sit at the lower end of the published AED 180 to 500 band rather than the upper end. The academic work is identical.

Arabian Ranches 3

The newest phase, still filling through 2026. The furthest of the three Ranches communities from the city's tutor supply, which means the fewest in-home options and the widest gap between an in-home quote and an online one.

Mudon

Along the same corridor towards Al Qudra Road. Mudon families report the same pattern: plenty of availability for primary-level visits, very little for Extended-tier IGCSE sciences, and a premium attached to whatever is available.

Town Square

A large community further out again. The practical effect on price is that a visiting tutor can serve one family per evening here, so the quote has to carry the whole trip. Online removes that line from the invoice entirely.

Motor City

Closer to Hessa Street and the city's tutor supply, so in-home rates are generally lower than in the Ranches communities. GEMS Metropole School runs the British curriculum here, which keeps IGCSE demand high and the local market reasonably competitive.

Dubai Sports City

Similar to Motor City on access and therefore on price. The complication is scheduling rather than cost: evening traffic on Hessa Street pushes a realistic session start later than the drive distance suggests.

DAMAC Hills

Jebel Ali School sits inside the community on the British curriculum to A Level, so IGCSE demand is steady. In-home quotes here sit mid-band, and families frequently report being offered a weekend slot rather than a weekday one, which is a travel-economics decision rather than an academic one.

Dubai Hills Estate

The best-served community in the belt for in-home availability, because it is closest to where tutors live and to Al Khail Road. It is also where the gap between in-home and online pricing is narrowest, which makes it the fairest place to compare the two.

Remraam

South View School serves this side of the belt. Remraam is the furthest community in the comparison set from the city's tutor supply, and it is where the cost argument for online delivery is strongest in pure arithmetic.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Arabian Ranches 2

Schools serving Arabian Ranches 2 households

Ranches Primary School sits inside the community for the early years; older children travel to campuses across the belt. Each school chooses its own board and syllabus codes, and the code is the first thing to establish before buying any IGCSE tuition.

  • Ranches Primary School, Arabian Ranches 2
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Jebel Ali School, DAMAC Hills
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • GEMS FirstPoint School, The Villa
  • South View School, Remraam

Post-16 destinations from the same belt

Where Arabian Ranches 2 students continue after IGCSE, which is the reason tier decisions in Year 10 have a price attached in Year 12. Both routes assume Extended-tier content as the entry point.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Fairgreen International School, The Sustainable City
  • GEMS International School Al Khail, Dubai Hills Estate
  • Emirates International School Meadows
  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • The Aquila School, Dubailand

Schools are named as local context so that a parent can locate their own child's campus and board. No affiliation, endorsement, client relationship or partnership with any school or school group is implied, and inspection bands should be read from the current KHDA report rather than from this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Confirm the code, the tier and the series

One email to the school examinations officer establishes the board, the syllabus code, the tier and the series your child is entered for. Those four facts decide which past papers are useful and which are a waste, and no sensible quote can be given without them. This step costs nothing and prevents the most expensive mistake in the list.

  2. 02

    Send two marked papers

A diagnosis from marked work beats a description of the problem. Two scripts with the marks on them let a tutor classify the losses as content, technique or presentation, which determines whether you are buying four sessions or a term. It also tells you quickly if the real problem is mathematics rather than science.

  3. 03

Get the plan and the number of sessions in writing

Before any payment, you should have the objective, the number of sessions, what will be reviewed at the halfway point and when the block ends. An open-ended weekly commitment with no stated objective is the most expensive way to buy tuition, and a provider who will not define the block is telling you something.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial lesson

One full session before anything is paid, worked on a real problem from a real paper, with no card details required. The tutor reports what they found in your child's technique. If the match is wrong, say so and we try another tutor; nothing is owed either way and the diagnosis is yours to keep.

  5. 05

Review at the halfway point and decide honestly

A short written note on what has moved, what has not, and whether the block should continue, change or finish. Finishing because the problem is solved is a legitimate outcome, and we will say so when we think it has been reached rather than letting a weekly slot become a habit.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every price here names who published it

Tutopiya, EdFlik, Unitors, TutorChase, BartyED and Bestimate's 2026 Dubai research are all cited by name beside their own figures. Three of the six competitor pages researched for this project publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai family transacts in.

No travel in the rate

Published in-home rates run to AED 500 an hour because the drive is inside the price, and the advertised monthly in-home package costs roughly double the online one for the same eight hours of teaching. Our delivery removes that cost rather than marking it up.

The permit fact stated plainly

The MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years, and no schedule of fines has been published. Both facts protect a parent from being charged for a permit or frightened by an invented penalty figure, and both are checkable on mohre.gov.ae and u.ae.

Blocks with an end, not open commitments

Most IGCSE problems are four to six sessions, one term, or one summer. Pricing and planning the work as a finite block with a stated objective is the main defence against a weekly slot that runs for two years out of habit and costs more than everything else combined.

Honest about availability

Additional Mathematics, Computer Science and Arabic are thin markets, and the final six weeks before a series are constrained across the whole city. We name the wait or decline rather than placing a generalist in front of an Extended-tier candidate and letting the first month prove it was wrong.

Online delivery, stated before you pay

IB Gram does not send tutors to addresses in Arabian Ranches 2 or anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Saying so on the page rather than after a deposit is the minimum standard, and it is why the in-home figures here appear as comparison rather than as an offer.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches 2: your questions answered

What does an IGCSE home tutor actually charge in Arabian Ranches 2?+

Published figures put in-home one-to-one visits in Dubai at AED 180 to 350 an hour according to Bestimate's 2026 research, with independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. Advertised monthly in-home packages run at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour sessions. Arabian Ranches 2 sits further from the city's tutor supply than Motor City or Dubai Hills Estate, so quotes here tend towards the upper end of those bands. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; these figures are the market's, quoted for comparison.

How much of a home tutor's hourly rate is paying for the drive to Arabian Ranches 2?+

Compare the two advertised monthly packages. Eight hours of online teaching is listed at AED 799 a month, roughly AED 100 an hour. Eight hours in-home, as four two-hour sessions, is listed at AED 1,599 to 1,799, roughly AED 200 to 225 an hour. The difference is travel time, fuel and the fact that a tutor crossing Dubai in the evening serves fewer families in a week. On those published numbers, somewhere around half the in-home rate is paying for the journey rather than the teaching.

Is a monthly IGCSE package better value than paying by the hour?+

Usually yes on price and sometimes no on fit. An advertised AED 799 monthly package for eight online sessions works out well below the AED 150 to 300 hourly band for qualified subject tutors, which is the commitment discount. The risk is that a package commits you to a number of hours before anyone has diagnosed what is wrong, and most IGCSE problems turn out to need four to six sessions rather than a standing monthly arrangement. Diagnose first, then buy the shape that matches the diagnosis.

Where do Arabian Ranches 2 families most often waste money on tuition?+

Five places, in order of cost. Buying content lessons when the lost marks are technique, which a single session with two marked papers would have revealed. Practising past papers from the wrong board or tier because the syllabus code was never confirmed. Spreading too few hours across too many subjects. Paying the premium tier for a problem the mid band solves. And starting in the final term, when nothing but paper technique is still possible and every good tutor is already full.

Does an IGCSE tutor cost more for Extended tier than Core tier?+

Often, and for a supply reason rather than a greed reason. Extended-tier chemistry and physics need someone comfortable with quantitative work under time pressure, and fewer tutors are, so the market is thinner and the rate sits higher in the published band. Core-tier work can usually be handled competently in the AED 150 to 300 range. The useful consequence is that the tier your child is entered for should be settled before you start comparing quotes, because it changes which band you are shopping in.

How many hours of IGCSE tuition does a Year 11 student actually need?+

It depends entirely on what is wrong, and the range is wide. A technique problem across several subjects is four to six sessions, once. A single weak topic is three or four. A subject that has drifted for a year is a term at one session a week. Exam pacing alone is three or four timed papers reviewed. Only the whole-subject case is genuinely expensive. Frequency, not rate, is what drives a tuition bill, so the question to answer first is how many hours rather than how much per hour.

Do IGCSE tuition rates rise as the May series gets closer?+

Availability tightens across Dubai in the two months before a series, and tight availability pushes quotes towards the upper end of a provider's published range. That is not a formal price rise so much as the cheaper slots disappearing first. The practical consequence for an Arabian Ranches 2 family is that a block arranged in November is bought from a wider market than the same block arranged in March, and the March version can usually only do paper technique because there is no time left for content.

Is group tuition at a Dubai centre cheaper than one-to-one for IGCSE?+

Per hour, yes, and centres publish their own group rates. The costs that do not appear on the invoice are the two round trips a week a parent makes, and the loss of diagnosis: a group session cannot work on the specific criterion or command word your child is losing marks to. Group provision suits broad revision across a syllabus. It does not suit the tier-specific or technique-specific repair that most Year 11 students actually need, which is where one-to-one earns its premium.

Does the quoted IGCSE tuition rate include VAT in the UAE?+

Ask each provider directly and get the answer in writing, because quotes differ. This page does not state the tax treatment of tuition fees as a general fact, since that would require a citation from the Federal Tax Authority rather than an assumption, and getting it wrong in either direction misleads a parent. What a family can reasonably insist on is clarity: whether the figure quoted is the figure payable, and whether a tax registration number appears on the invoice if one is charged.

What should an Arabian Ranches 2 parent ask before paying for a block of lessons?+

Six questions. Which syllabus code and tier will you teach to? What will the first session diagnose and how will you report it? Is the rate per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson? Is the quoted figure inclusive of value added tax? What happens if we stop after one session? Do you hold a current MoHRE private tuition work permit? The first is the one a weak provider cannot answer, and the last should be answered yes, with the note that the permit is free.

How does the cost of IGCSE tuition compare with Dubai private school fees?+

Tuition is smaller and more discretionary, and it is the line still moving. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for 2026-27 under the emirate's second economic incentives package, so the school line is fixed for the year. A weekly session at the mid-market band, AED 600 to 1,200 a month on Bestimate's estimates, is a material addition to a household budget but a fraction of a secondary school fee. The decision is about what the money is buying, not whether it is affordable.

Can two children in the same Arabian Ranches 2 villa share one session?+

Only where they genuinely need the same thing, which is rarer than it sounds. A Year 9 and a Year 11 student, or an Extended and a Core candidate, are working on different material and sharing a session halves the value for both. Where two siblings are in the same year, on the same board and tier, with the same weakness, a shared session can work and costs less per child. Otherwise the better arrangement is separate sessions with the scheduling handled together so no evening carries two.

What happens to our money if the first IGCSE tutor is not the right match?+

The trial lesson exists precisely so this is answered before any payment. It is one full session, run on a real problem, with no card details required. If the match is wrong you say so and we try a different tutor, and nothing is owed. After a block has started, the halfway review is the point at which a family can change tutor, change frequency or stop. Any provider who cannot explain what happens when a match fails is worth more questions before a deposit.

Is paying extra for an examiner-experienced IGCSE tutor worth it?+

At IGCSE level, usually not. BartyED's examiner-led tier is published at AED 650 an hour, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor, and the marks a Year 11 student is losing are generally command words, units, graph conventions and tier-appropriate content rather than anything requiring examiner insight. There is also a caution worth applying: examiner status should only be claimed where it can be evidenced, and it does not give anyone access to marking, boundaries or paper content.

Why does IB Gram quote in-home rates it does not offer?+

Because a page about what tuition costs in Arabian Ranches 2 would be dishonest without them. In-home visits are a large part of this market, they are published at AED 180 to 500 an hour, and comparing them is the clearest way to show what travel costs a family. IB Gram does not make home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India, and every UAE lesson is delivered live over video. Quoting the market and naming our own limit is better than quietly omitting either.

Diagnose first, then decide how many hours to buy

If your child studies IGCSE from Arabian Ranches 2, the two steps that save the most money both cost nothing. Ask the school examinations officer for the board, syllabus code, tier and series, and send us two recent marked papers. A tutor will tell you whether the lost marks are content, technique or presentation, and therefore whether you are buying four sessions or a term. Then take the free trial lesson, with no card details, and judge the match on a real problem rather than on a rate. Lessons run live over video for every UAE family, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time, at a slot built around the Arabian Ranches 2 school run.
