IB Home Tutor in Arabian Ranches 2

An IB home tutor in Arabian Ranches 2 is usually wanted for one reason. The school day ends around three, the return leg from Al Barsha South or Dubai Sports City takes most of the next hour, and nobody has much left for Analysis and Approaches at six. IB Gram answers that with one-to-one lessons delivered live online, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, so the session begins when your child is actually at the kitchen table in Casa, Rosa or Lila rather than still on Al Qudra Road.

  • Lessons run live online over video, one tutor to one student
  • Sessions scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, after the Dubailand school run
  • A free trial lesson first, with no card details taken
  • Tutors teach and review work; they never write an IA or Extended Essay

IB & IGCSE in Arabian Ranches 2

The school run is the reason this search exists

Arabian Ranches 2 sits between Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Qudra Road, south of the original Arabian Ranches and north of Mudon and Arabian Ranches 3. It is a villa community with a souk at its centre, a British-curriculum primary school inside the gates and no Diploma Programme provision within walking distance of any of it. For a family with a DP1 or DP2 student, that geography sets the shape of the week before anyone discusses tutoring: the child leaves early, returns late, and the first usable academic window opens somewhere after five.

That window is what a search for an IB home tutor in Arabian Ranches 2 is really about. Parents here are not shopping for a venue. They are trying to recover the hour that the drive to Al Barsha South, Dubai Sports City or the Sustainable City removes from the afternoon, and the obvious way to recover it looks like booking somebody who turns up at the gate. That is one answer. In this part of Dubailand it is rarely the quickest one, and the research below shows it is not the cheapest either.

IB Gram delivers this as one-to-one tuition over live video. We do not run home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; door-to-door tutoring is a service offered only in India. The reason is not administrative tidiness. A Diploma student taking Chemistry at Higher Level needs a teacher who has taught Chemistry at Higher Level, and the number of those inside a twenty-minute radius of Ranches Souk is small enough that most families settle for a capable generalist who is reading the subject guide on the way over.

Online changes what you are choosing between. Instead of the tutors who happen to live near the Ranches, the choice becomes the tutors who teach your child's exact course: Analysis and Approaches Higher Level rather than maths, Biology Higher Level rather than science, Economics Standard Level with the commentary deadline already in view. Lessons are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, the screen and the working are shared both ways, and the work a student submits stays the student's own. Nothing travels, so nothing is billed for travel, and a five o'clock slot does not require somebody to leave somewhere else at twenty past four.

The rest of this page is written from the clock rather than from a brochure. Which schools this neighbourhood actually feeds, roughly what time each of them finishes, what the return leg does to the afternoon, and where in the evening a sixty- or ninety-minute session can sit without colliding with homework, a swim squad at Dubai Sports City, or a Friday that finishes at lunchtime. Every AED figure quoted is a market rate from a named source, never a price list of ours.

At a glance

  • Ranches Primary School sits inside Arabian Ranches 2; Diploma Programme provision does not.
  • Most Dubai private secondaries finish between 15:00 and 15:30, Monday to Thursday.
  • Friday is a short school day across Dubai private schools, which makes Friday morning the strongest revision slot of the week.
  • Market rates: roughly AED 150-300 an hour for a qualified online subject tutor, AED 180-500 for an in-home visit once travel is included.
  • KHDA inspects Dubai private schools annually on a six-band scale running from Outstanding down to Very Weak.
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Arabian Ranches 2 families arrive at the Diploma by two routes: through the Middle Years Programme at an IB continuum school, or through IGCSE at a British school followed by a switch at sixteen. The three programmes below are the ones that matter for this neighbourhood, each with a note written from a Dubailand villa rather than in general terms.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP is organised around transdisciplinary units of inquiry rather than discrete subject syllabuses, and it closes with the Year 6 Exhibition. There is no external examination, which means a parent's only reliable signal is the school's own reporting against learning outcomes. Support at this stage is about reading fluency, number sense and the habit of explaining a method out loud, because those are what the Middle Years Programme will start grading.

Arabian Ranches 2 children in the PYP are mostly bussing to continuum schools in the Sustainable City or Al Barsha South, so the day is long for an eight-year-old. A thirty-minute online slot twice a week lands better here than a single hour, and it fits after the bus and before dinner without turning the evening into a second school day.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The MYP grades each subject against four criteria, A to D, on an eight-point scale, and converts the total to a 1-7 subject grade using published boundaries. Criterion wording is the thing students misread: a task asking them to analyse is not asking them to describe. Year 11 ends with the Personal Project, which is assessed on its process journal and the student's own reflection as much as on the product.

This is where Arabian Ranches 2 parents most often discover a gap, because MYP reporting looks reassuring until the DP1 maths and sciences start. Families with a child in MYP 4 or 5 are the ones who benefit most from booking a subject-specific review before the DP subject choices are locked, usually in the spring term of Year 11.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment set and marked in school against published criteria and then externally moderated. The Higher Level papers are longer, carry additional content and, in several subjects, add a third paper that Standard Level candidates never sit. UAE schools sit the May session.

Diploma students from Arabian Ranches 2 are travelling to JESS Arabian Ranches, Fairgreen International School, North London Collegiate School Dubai, Nord Anglia International School Dubai or Dwight School Dubai. That spread is why the evening slot matters so much here: a DP2 student back at 16:15 from Al Barsha South cannot sensibly start Higher Level content before five, and the honest answer is to protect two fixed evenings rather than four scattered ones.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The Diploma subjects below are the ones Arabian Ranches 2 families book most often, with a note on what each one actually assesses and where marks go missing. Availability is confirmed before you pay, and where a Higher Level specialist is not free in Gulf Standard Time we say so rather than substitute somebody from a neighbouring subject.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The algebra-and-proof route, with a no-calculator Paper 1 that catches students who have learned to lean on a graphics calculator. Higher Level adds Paper 3, a two-part extended investigation worth 20 per cent of the grade. Most lost marks are notation and unjustified steps rather than genuine gaps in method.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics led, with a graphics calculator permitted in every paper. Students who chose this expecting an easier course find the Higher Level statistics and the regression work demanding. Marks go in interpretation: a correct value with no sentence saying what it means in context scores less than students expect.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Higher Level carries additional content Standard Level candidates never sit, and organic mechanisms plus energetics are where the grade is usually decided. The Internal Assessment is a single scientific investigation of the student's own design, assessed on research design, data analysis and conclusion, which is where most of the avoidable marks sit.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics is taught first and examined last, so DP2 students often arrive at the paper with the oldest topic least secure. Uncertainties and significant figures quietly remove marks in the data-analysis questions. Higher Level fields and the extended topics are what separate a 5 from a 7 in practice.

Biology

HL and SL

The volume of defined terminology makes this a recall-plus-application subject rather than a reading subject. Command terms matter: outline, explain and evaluate carry different mark allocations for the same content. The investigation needs a measurable, controllable variable, and a poorly chosen one costs more marks than weak writing ever will.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries drawn from published news articles, each tied to a different unit of the course, form the Internal Assessment. Diagrams carry marks on their own: axes labelled, equilibrium shifted, the change explained in the student's own words. Higher Level adds quantitative questions that trip students who treated the subject as essay-only.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is unseen textual analysis under timed conditions, which rewards a repeatable approach far more than wide reading. The Individual Oral links a global issue to two texts and is internally assessed. Higher Level adds the HL Essay, a formal 1,200 to 1,500-word piece on one text studied.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tool-based rather than theory-based: students are expected to apply named frameworks to a real organisation and justify the choice of tool. The Internal Assessment is a research project on a genuine business issue. Marks are lost in evaluation, where answers summarise findings instead of weighing them against the question asked.

Theory of Knowledge

Core · all DP students

The exhibition in DP1 and the prescribed-title essay in DP2, graded A to E and contributing to the three bonus points alongside the Extended Essay. Students treat it as an opinion piece and lose marks for unexamined claims. Supply of specialist tutors is genuinely thin, and we say so when it is.

Extended Essay supervision support

Core · 4,000 words

A tutor can help a student narrow a researchable question, test whether the sources exist before the writing starts, and read a draft against the assessment criteria. A tutor cannot draft, rewrite or finish it. That boundary is set by IB academic-honesty rules and it is not negotiable at any price.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats are realistic for an Arabian Ranches 2 family, and the right one usually depends on the level rather than on the budget. All three are delivered online over live video in Gulf Standard Time, which is what makes the timing in the table further down this page achievable at all.

Weekly one-to-one, fixed slot

One tutor, one student, the same evening each week for the length of a term. The fixed slot is the point: it survives the school run, it gets written into the family calendar alongside swimming and football, and it gives the tutor a predictable rhythm for setting work between sessions. Most Diploma families start with two subjects at one session each.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, chosen to fit after the bus rather than to fill a billing unit
  • Same tutor each week, so the diagnosis carries over
  • Work set between sessions and reviewed at the start of the next
  • Rescheduled by notice, not lost

Internal Assessment and coursework review

Block sessions timed around the school's own internal deadlines rather than the exam calendar. The tutor reads the student's draft against the published assessment criteria and explains which criterion the draft is currently losing marks under. The writing, the data and the conclusions remain the student's own work from first draft to submission.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Research question narrowed before the writing starts, not after
  • No drafting, rewriting or completion of assessed work
  • Timed to the school's internal deadline, which is earlier than the IB's

Exam-term intensive

A short, dense block in the weeks before the May session, built around past-paper technique and the specific topics a student's mock paper exposed. This format suits DP2 students who have the content but lose marks to timing and command terms. It is bought by the block rather than open-ended, so the family knows the end date when they start.

  • Diagnosis from the student's own mock script, not a generic test
  • Paper-by-paper timing practice under exam conditions
  • Topic triage: three weak areas worked properly beats ten skimmed
  • Defined number of sessions with a stated finish

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches 2

01

What a search for an IB home tutor in Arabian Ranches 2 actually gets you

It gets you one-to-one Diploma Programme teaching delivered live online, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with the tutor matched to the exact course and level your child sits. It does not get you somebody at the villa door. IB Gram does not operate home visits in the UAE, and saying so on the page is more useful than letting a parent discover it on a phone call.

The phrase itself is worth taking seriously rather than correcting. Families type home tutor because they want the lesson to happen where the child already is, without another car journey at the end of a long day. That requirement is real and it is the one thing online delivery satisfies completely: the lesson happens in the room the child is already sitting in, and the only travel involved is from the kitchen to wherever the laptop lives.

What changes is the pool. A tutor who has to reach Arabian Ranches 2 by road is drawn from whoever lives in Dubailand, Motor City, Dubai Sports City or Al Barsha and has a free evening. A tutor who teaches over live video is drawn from everyone who teaches that subject at that level in a compatible time zone. For Standard Level support in a broad subject the difference is modest. For Chemistry Higher Level, Analysis and Approaches Higher Level or Theory of Knowledge, the difference is the whole decision.

One more practical consequence. Because nobody drives anywhere, a cancelled or moved session costs nothing in wasted travel, which is why rescheduling by notice is straightforward rather than a negotiation. Families in this community reschedule more than they expect to, usually for a sports fixture or a school trip, and a format that absorbs that without a surcharge is worth more over a term than a slightly lower hourly rate.

02

The Arabian Ranches 2 school run, hour by hour

Arabian Ranches 2 has a primary school inside the community and nothing above it, so almost every secondary student here commutes. The table below sets out the schools this neighbourhood actually feeds, their approximate road distance from Ranches Souk, a typical weekday finish and the earliest hour at which a tutoring session is realistically worth starting. Finish times vary by year group and by term, so treat them as the shape of the day rather than a timetable.

Two features of the Dubai school week matter more than distance. The private-school week runs Monday to Friday with a short Friday, which means Friday afternoon is the single most underused academic slot available to a Diploma student in this community. And the afternoon peak on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Qudra Road overlaps exactly with school dismissal, so the return leg is consistently slower than the same trip at eleven in the morning.

The earliest realistic session column is deliberately conservative. It assumes the child gets through the door, eats something and sits down, which in practice takes longer than parents allow for when they book a slot. A session that starts fifteen minutes late every week loses most of a lesson over a term, so the better move is to book the later slot and keep it than to book the earlier one and apologise for it.

For families running two children on different buses, the arrival spread is usually thirty to forty minutes. Where that is the case, the workable pattern is one fixed evening per child on different days rather than two sessions stacked on the same evening, because the second one always lands in homework time and the student is already done.

Why a quarter past four is the wrong start time for a DP2 student here

  • Book the slot the student can concentrate in, not the earliest one the calendar permits
  • Thirty minutes of decompression after the bus is not wasted time, it is what makes the hour work
  • Two protected evenings beat four opportunistic ones across a term
  • Friday mornings and early afternoons are the strongest and least-used slot in the Dubai week

Parents book the earliest slot the schedule technically allows, because it leaves the evening free. For a Year 12 or Year 13 student coming off a long commute, that choice reliably produces the worst hour of the week. The student is physically present and cognitively finished, the tutor spends twenty minutes rebuilding attention, and the family concludes that tutoring is not working when the problem was the clock.

The Diploma load makes this sharper than it is at other levels. A DP2 student is carrying six subjects, four of which will have an Internal Assessment deadline inside the same eight-week window, plus the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. Their afternoon already contains obligations. Dropping a Higher Level session into the first available gap means it competes with the school's own deadlines rather than supporting them.

The pattern that works in Arabian Ranches 2 is a later start with a protected shape: arrive home, eat, thirty minutes of nothing, then a focused sixty or ninety minutes beginning between five and half past seven depending on the cluster and the sports schedule. Where a family runs co-curriculars at Dubai Sports City or Arabian Ranches Golf Club two evenings a week, the sensible answer is to accept a seven o'clock slot on the free evenings rather than squeeze a session in before the fixture.

Friday is the exception worth planning around. With a short school day across Dubai private schools, a Friday session sits on a rested student with no commute behind it and nothing scheduled after it. For Higher Level content and for Internal Assessment work, where thinking rather than drilling is required, a single Friday session frequently outperforms two weekday evenings.

Online, in-home and group tuition compared for a Dubailand villa community

This is the comparison the market avoids publishing. Three of the six competitor pages examined for this project quote no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, a currency no UAE family pays in. The figures below are AED market rates taken from providers' own published pages and from Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table. They describe what the market charges, not what IB Gram charges.

Read the travel column first, because in Arabian Ranches 2 it is the column that decides the others. An in-home rate of AED 180-500 an hour includes the tutor's travel, and it is quoted that way because the travel is real: crossing Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road or Al Qudra Road between half past three and half past six is not a fifteen-minute proposition. A tutor who can only fit two visits into an evening prices accordingly.

The second thing the table shows is where specialisation actually costs money. A budget online tutor at AED 45-150 an hour is a reasonable way to supervise homework and keep a Standard Level subject ticking. It is not a way to move a Chemistry Higher Level grade, because the person is usually not a Chemistry Higher Level teacher. The specialist band at AED 200-450 and above buys course-exact teaching, and for one or two subjects in DP2 that is the band most families end up in.

Group classes deserve one honest line. A monthly package advertised in this market at around AED 799 for eight online sessions looks like strong value until you notice it is a group rate and the group is not at your child's level. For topic revision where everyone is sitting the same paper, group teaching works. For a student who is losing marks for a reason specific to them, it does not.

The Diploma calendar counted backwards from a villa in Casa or Rosa

  • The school's internal deadlines, not the IB's, are what govern a DP2 autumn
  • Confirm every IB date with your Diploma coordinator rather than with a tutoring site
  • Book Internal Assessment support at the question stage, not the week before submission
  • Test that the Extended Essay sources exist before the question is locked

UAE schools sit the May session, and the May session is not the deadline that bites first. The deadlines that shape a DP2 student's year are internal: the school's own submission dates for each Internal Assessment, the Extended Essay drafts and the Theory of Knowledge essay. Those sit months before any examination and they are set by the school, not by the IB, which is why two students in the same community can be working to different dates.

Precise IB session and results dates are deliberately not published here. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so no date in this project has been confirmed from the IB directly, and a wrong date on a page like this is worse than no date. Ask your child's Diploma coordinator for the school's internal calendar and confirm the external dates with them or on ibo.org. For Cambridge and Pearson qualifications, the published dates further down the IGCSE pages in this set are sourced and usable.

Working backwards is the useful exercise. If an Internal Assessment is due to the school in the second half of DP2 term one, the data collection has to be finished a month earlier, the research question has to be agreed a month before that, and the point at which a tutor can genuinely help is at the question stage, not at the draft stage. Families who book support in the week before a deadline are buying proofreading, which is both the least valuable and the most ethically constrained thing a tutor does.

The same logic applies to the Extended Essay. A 4,000-word piece needs its sources tested for existence before the student commits to the question. Half the Extended Essay problems a tutor sees are not writing problems; they are questions that cannot be answered with the material the student can actually reach from Dubai.

06

Academic honesty: what an IB tutor may and may not do

A tutor may teach content, model a method, explain what a criterion rewards, read a student's own draft and say which criterion it is currently losing marks under. A tutor may not write, rewrite, draft, edit to completion or supply any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or Personal Project. That boundary is set by the IB's academic-honesty framework and it applies to paid support exactly as it applies to a parent.

This is not a theoretical concern in this market. One site examined during research sells completed Internal Assessments outright at a published price. A student who submits purchased work faces an academic-misconduct investigation and, where it is upheld, the loss of the qualification. No grade is worth that exposure, and no tutor who offers it is protecting your child.

The practical version of the rule is simple to police as a parent. Ask to see the feedback the tutor gave, not just the improved draft. Criterion-referenced feedback looks like a list of criteria with a note against each; completion looks like prose that suddenly sounds like somebody else. If the draft improves and the student cannot explain why, something has gone wrong regardless of what anybody intended.

We also do not supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads. Those are the boards' copyright. Tutors reference them, cite them and point families to the official source, which is also the only version guaranteed to be current.

07

What a KHDA inspection band actually tells an Arabian Ranches 2 parent

KHDA is the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and under the UAE government's own description it is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai. It inspects private schools annually and publishes an overall judgement on a six-band scale from Outstanding through Very Good, Good, Acceptable and Weak to Very Weak. That report is public and it is the only school-quality signal on this page worth reading.

What the band does not tell you is how your child's specific subject at Higher Level is taught. A school can hold a strong overall judgement while a particular department is thin, usually because of a mid-year staffing change. Conversely a school in a lower band may have an outstanding Physics teacher. Parents in this community occasionally make a tutoring decision on the strength of the inspection headline when the subject-level detail inside the report is the part that matters.

Dubai's private-school sector is large enough that these bands are the practical filter: KHDA figures for 2024-25 record 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 different curricula, with UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, US at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. The IB share is small, which is exactly why IB specialist supply is thinner than general tutoring supply.

Two further facts are useful context for a family budgeting a year of support. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private-school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package the authority valued at AED 1.5 billion. And the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools in Dubai, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places. Read inspection reports on KHDA's own site, never from a tutoring page.

08

Tutor coverage for this neighbourhood, and what happens when a subject is not covered

No competitor page examined for this project discloses a coverage limit. Several conceal non-UAE delivery behind an overseas phone number. The table below is the alternative: what we can usually staff for an Arabian Ranches 2 family, roughly how long a match takes, and what we do when the specialist a student needs is not available in Gulf Standard Time.

The honest position on a thin subject is to say so. Theory of Knowledge is the clearest example: demand concentrates in DP2 when the prescribed-title essay lands, supply is small because few teachers specialise in it, and substituting a subject teacher produces confident advice that does not match the assessment criteria. Where we cannot staff it, the useful answer is a referral back to the school's own Theory of Knowledge lead rather than a booking.

Where a specialist is not UAE-based, we widen the search to tutors teaching in a compatible time zone and tell you before you book. Gulf Standard Time is four hours ahead of UTC, which keeps an early-evening Dubai slot inside the working day for tutors across South Asia and comfortably inside the afternoon for tutors in the United Kingdom. The constraint is not geography but the student's own evening.

Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies sit in a separate category. KHDA requires that teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects in Dubai schools, and the mandatory content itself may not be varied without prior Ministry of Education permission. For those subjects the first conversation belongs with the school, and we say that rather than taking a booking we should not take.

Nearby areas we cover around Arabian Ranches 2

Arabian Ranches 2 is a set of villa and townhouse clusters rather than a single block, and the practical difference between them for tutoring purposes is the gate a family uses, the bus route that serves it and therefore what time a child is actually home. The notes below are about session timing, not property.

Casa

One of the larger clusters, towards the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road side of the community. Families here tend to be on the earlier bus drops coming back from Al Barsha South, so a 16:30 start is often workable for a Standard Level subject.

Rosa

A townhouse and villa cluster whose families mostly use the Al Qudra Road side of Arabian Ranches 2. Secondary students bussing from Dubai Sports City are usually settled by around 16:15, which makes 17:00 the first comfortable Higher Level slot.

Palma

Close to the central spine and the Ranches Souk end of the community, which is useful for families who stack a tutoring slot after a sports session rather than straight after school. A 19:00 start is common here in DP2.

Lila

Towards the southern edge, nearest Arabian Ranches 3 and Mudon. The extra minutes on the internal roads at pick-up time are small in isolation but they decide whether 16:30 or 17:00 is the realistic start for a Year 12 student.

Camelia

A later-phase cluster with a high share of primary-age children. Shorter, twice-weekly sessions work better here than a single long one, and the earlier primary finish means a 15:45 slot is genuinely available on Mondays to Thursdays.

Azalea

Another of the later phases. Families in this cluster commonly run two children on different school buses, which is why a fixed weekly slot that both parents can plan around matters more than finding the theoretically perfect hour.

Reem

Townhouse-dominant, with families who often also use the facilities in the original Arabian Ranches. Shared transport arrangements mean arrival times vary by up to half an hour, so a session with a five-minute grace window at the start is more useful than a hard 17:00.

Yasmin

Sits toward the community's outer ring. The practical point for a DP student here is the Friday short day: when school finishes at lunchtime, a Friday afternoon Higher Level session replaces two tired weekday evenings and generally gets more done.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Arabian Ranches 2

Arabian Ranches and the Dubailand belt

The schools closest to Arabian Ranches 2 by road. JESS Arabian Ranches runs IGCSE and then the IB Diploma, which is why so many DP students in this community are a three-kilometre drive from their own classroom while their subject specialist is twenty-five kilometres away.

  • JESS Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School, Dubai Sports City
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy, Dubai Sports City
  • The Aquila School, Dubailand

The Sustainable City and Al Barsha South

The IB-heavy cluster Arabian Ranches 2 buses reach in roughly twenty to thirty-five minutes depending on the hour. Between them these schools cover the full continuum from PYP through MYP to the Diploma, and they are the source of most DP enquiries from this neighbourhood.

  • Fairgreen International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Dwight School Dubai
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Repton Al Barsha
  • Safa Community School

Emirates Hills, The Meadows and Jumeirah Village

A slightly longer run, used by families who chose a school before they chose the villa. Emirates International School Meadows runs the IB continuum and Sunmarke School offers IGCSE followed by the Diploma, so the evening timetable for these students starts later again.

  • Emirates International School, Meadows
  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • Sunmarke School, Jumeirah Village Triangle
  • Arcadia Global School, Jumeirah Village Triangle
  • GEMS International School Al Khail
  • Kings' School Nad Al Sheba

Schools are named here as context for the neighbourhood's school ecosystem; no affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any of them is implied, and inspection ratings should be checked on KHDA's own site rather than taken from any tutoring page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the course, the level and the hour that actually works

Not the subject but the course: Analysis and Approaches Higher Level, Chemistry Standard Level, English A Language and Literature. Then the honest earliest start time given your cluster in Arabian Ranches 2 and your child's school. Those two facts determine whether we can match a specialist, and they take about four minutes to supply.

  2. 02

We check availability before you commit to anything

A specialist is either free in your evening slot or is not. We tell you which, name the tutor, state their qualification and board experience, and say if they are outside the UAE. If we cannot cover the subject at the level you need, you hear that instead of being matched with the nearest approximate person.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson, with no card details taken

One full lesson at no cost so the student meets the tutor before any money changes hands. The trial is a real lesson on real content, not a sales call: the tutor diagnoses where marks are going and says so at the end. No payment details are required to book it and there is no obligation afterwards.

  4. 04

Fix the slot and keep it for the term

The same evening each week with the same tutor, written into the family calendar next to the school run and the sports fixtures. Work is set between sessions and reviewed at the start of the next one. Sessions can be moved by notice without penalty, because nobody has made a journey that cannot be recovered.

  5. 05

Review against the school's own reporting

Every half term, compare what the tutor is seeing against the school's reports and the student's own marked work. If the two disagree, that is information worth acting on. If the subject no longer needs support, the sensible outcome is to stop that subject rather than to carry it to the end of the term.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The tutor matches the course, not the postcode

Online delivery removes distance from the selection, so the question becomes who teaches Analysis and Approaches Higher Level rather than who teaches maths and lives near Dubailand. For Standard Level support the difference is modest. For Higher Level sciences and maths in DP2 it is the difference that shows up in the grade.

Timing built around the Dubailand school run

Sessions are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time and set after the realistic arrival time for your child's school, not at the first slot the calendar allows. Friday's short school day is treated as the strongest revision window of the week rather than as an afterthought, because for Higher Level content it usually is.

No travel, so no travel in the price

Market in-home rates of AED 180-500 an hour include the tutor's road time across E311 or Al Qudra Road in the dismissal peak. Nothing travels in an online session, so the hour you pay for is an hour of teaching, and a session moved for a school trip costs nobody a wasted journey.

Clear academic-honesty boundaries, stated before you book

Tutors teach, model and give criterion-referenced feedback on the student's own work. They do not write, redraft or complete an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay. In a market where completed coursework is openly sold, saying where the line sits is the most useful thing a tutoring page can do.

Figures and facts with their sources attached

Every AED band on this page is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, every regulatory statement to the authority that issued it, and no IB examination date is published because the IB's own site could not be checked automatically. Numbers without a source are not reassurance, they are a liability.

Coverage limits disclosed rather than hidden

Where a specialist is not available in Gulf Standard Time, you are told before booking, including whether the tutor is based outside the UAE. Theory of Knowledge and KHDA-approved Arabic and Islamic Education are the two areas we routinely decline, and declining is more useful to a family than an approximate match.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches 2: your questions answered

Can I book an IB home tutor who comes to our villa in Arabian Ranches 2?+

Not through IB Gram. We do not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; door-to-door tutoring is a service we offer only in India. What we provide for Arabian Ranches 2 is one-to-one Diploma teaching delivered live online, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, so the lesson still happens in the room your child is already sitting in. The practical gain is the tutor pool: instead of whoever can reach your gate between dismissal and dinner, you get the person who actually teaches your child's course at your child's level. The practical loss is that no adult is physically in the room, which matters more for a nine-year-old than for a DP2 student.

What time can a session realistically start if my child finishes school at 15:15?+

For a secondary student bussing back to Arabian Ranches 2 from Al Barsha South or the Sustainable City, 17:00 is the first slot that works properly and 17:30 is safer. The return leg overlaps the afternoon peak on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Qudra Road, and the student then needs to eat and decompress. For the schools closest to the community, including JESS Arabian Ranches at roughly three kilometres, 16:30 is usually achievable. Booking the earliest technically possible hour is the most common scheduling mistake families here make: a session that starts fifteen minutes late every week loses most of a lesson across a term.

Which schools do Arabian Ranches 2 children actually attend for the Diploma?+

There is no Diploma Programme provision inside the community, so Diploma students commute. The nearest option is JESS Arabian Ranches, which runs IGCSE and then the IB Diploma about three kilometres away. Beyond that, the cluster most used from here covers Fairgreen International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai in the Sustainable City, and Nord Anglia International School Dubai, Dwight School Dubai and Repton Al Barsha in Al Barsha South. A smaller group travels to Emirates International School Meadows or Sunmarke School. These schools are named as neighbourhood context; no affiliation is implied, and inspection reports should be read on KHDA's own site.

Is Friday actually a usable day for IB tutoring in Dubai?+

It is the best day of the week for it, and almost nobody uses it. Dubai private schools run a Monday to Friday week with a short Friday, so the student arrives home early, rested and with no commute behind them. For Higher Level content and Internal Assessment work, where the task is thinking rather than drilling, one Friday session frequently achieves more than two tired weekday evenings. Families in Arabian Ranches 2 who protect a Friday slot tend to keep it, because nothing else competes for the hour. The main constraint is family plans, since Friday afternoon is also when weekends start in practice.

How much does an IB tutor cost per hour for a family in this part of Dubai?+

Market rates, not ours. A qualified subject tutor working online is commonly AED 150-300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Named IB specialists sit at AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 rate table quoting AED 200-450+. In-home one-to-one visits run AED 180-500 once travel is included. Budget and university-student tutors advertise from AED 45-150. Monthly packages around AED 799 for eight online sessions appear in this market, usually as group rates. IB Gram does not publish a rate card here; the free trial and the consultation are where our own pricing is discussed.

Does a 90-minute session work better than two 60-minute ones in DP2?+

For Internal Assessment work and Higher Level problem-solving, yes. Both need a run-up: the student has to reload where they were, and twenty minutes of a sixty-minute session can disappear into that. Ninety minutes gives one proper working block. For content catch-up, vocabulary-heavy subjects or anything that needs repetition, two shorter sessions on different evenings beat one long one, because spacing is doing the work. Most Arabian Ranches 2 families settle on ninety minutes for the subject causing the most trouble and sixty for the second subject. The deciding factor is usually the school run rather than the pedagogy.

My child is at Ranches Primary School — is tutoring sensible this early?+

Sometimes, and rarely in the form parents imagine. At primary age the useful targets are reading fluency, number facts and the habit of explaining a method aloud, because those are what the Middle Years Programme will later grade against criteria. What does not help is a sixty-minute evening session after a long bus ride. Two thirty-minute online slots a week, early enough to be before dinner, fit this age group far better. If the school's own reporting is not flagging a gap, the honest advice is usually to wait and spend the money in Year 9 or 10 instead.

How do online lessons handle a maths question that needs working shown?+

Through a shared writing surface rather than a talking head. The tutor and the student both write on the same digital whiteboard, so the tutor sees the working develop line by line and can stop at the line where it goes wrong, which is the only place a maths correction is useful. Students photograph a handwritten page and drop it in when they prefer paper, which many Analysis and Approaches students do for proofs. The session is recorded on request so the student can revisit the method. For a no-calculator Paper 1 technique, this works at least as well as sitting side by side.

Can one tutor cover both Physics HL and Mathematics AA HL for the same student?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking because the overlap is real: Higher Level Physics leans on calculus and algebraic manipulation that Analysis and Approaches teaches directly. A tutor comfortable with both can use one subject to reinforce the other. The risk is a tutor who is strong in one and adequate in the other, which produces a reasonable Physics hour and a weak maths hour at the same price. We tell you which subject the tutor's qualification and recent teaching actually sit in, and if the honest answer is that they should only take one of the two, that is what we recommend.

What exactly can an IB tutor do with my child's Internal Assessment?+

Teach the underlying content, explain what each assessment criterion rewards, help narrow a research question before the writing starts, check whether the data or sources are actually obtainable, and read the student's own draft and say which criterion it is currently losing marks under. What a tutor must not do is write, rewrite, edit to completion or supply any part of it. One provider examined during research sells completed Internal Assessments outright; a student submitting purchased work risks an academic-misconduct finding and the loss of the qualification. Ask to see the feedback, not just the improved draft.

How does an Arabian Ranches 2 parent check a tutor has a MoHRE permit?+

Yes. Private tutoring is regulated through a MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page is Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, applied for through its app, website and e-services system. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you.

What does a KHDA inspection band tell me about my child's school?+

KHDA, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, is responsible for overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai and inspects schools annually, publishing an overall judgement on a six-band scale from Outstanding down to Very Weak. The band is a reliable summary of the school and a poor guide to one subject at one level, because a single staffing change can leave a strong school with a thin department. Read the subject detail inside the report rather than the headline, and read it on KHDA's own site. No tutoring page, including this one, should be your source for a school's rating.

Can our session move later during Ramadan?+

Yes, and it usually should. School hours are reduced during Ramadan across the UAE, so the afternoon looks different and the evening is organised around Iftar. The pattern most Arabian Ranches 2 families move to is a later start after Iftar, or a daytime slot on the short school days, with a slightly shorter session length. Because nothing has to travel, moving the slot for the month costs nothing and reverts afterwards. Tell us at the start of the month rather than week by week, so the tutor's whole Ramadan schedule is set once and your slot is not the one that gets squeezed.

We travel over the winter break — can lessons follow the family?+

They can, with one caveat about time zones. An online session needs a stable connection and an agreed hour, both of which usually survive travel. The caveat is that Gulf Standard Time is four hours ahead of UTC, so a Dubai evening slot becomes an inconvenient afternoon or morning slot depending on where you go. The workable approach is to agree the holiday hours before you leave and to reduce frequency rather than attempt the normal pattern from a hotel. Many DP2 families use the break for a short Internal Assessment block instead, which travels better than content teaching does.

What happens if the first tutor is not the right fit for my child?+

You say so and we change the tutor, which is why the free trial exists before any payment. Fit at Diploma level is rarely about warmth; it is usually about pace and about whether the tutor explains in the register the student thinks in. A mismatch shows up inside two sessions, and the signal to watch for is a student who stops asking questions. When we re-match, the new tutor gets the previous diagnosis, so the term does not restart from zero. If the subject turns out not to need support at all, the useful recommendation is to stop it rather than to carry it.

Start with the hour, then the tutor

Tell us your child's course and level, which school they travel to, and the earliest evening hour that is honestly workable from your cluster in Arabian Ranches 2. We will say whether a specialist in that exact course is free in that slot, name them, and state their qualification and whether they are UAE-based. Then there is a free trial lesson, with no card details taken, so the student meets the tutor on real content before anything is paid. If we cannot cover the subject at the level you need, you will hear that instead of being matched to the nearest approximate person. Lessons are one-to-one and delivered live online in Gulf Standard Time.
