IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Jaddaf

A search for an IGCSE tutor near me in Al Jaddaf returns six different business models wearing similar words, and they do not cost the same or carry the same risk. An agency, a marketplace, an independent freelance tutor, a tuition centre group class, an online platform and a school-run support session each price differently and each fails differently. This page compares the models rather than the brands. Lessons here are one-to-one online on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Lessons are live online one-to-one; IB Gram makes no UAE home visits
  • Coverage limits disclosed, including what happens when no specialist is free

IB & IGCSE in Al Jaddaf

One search phrase, six different businesses

Type "IGCSE tutor near me in Al Jaddaf" and the results look homogeneous. They are not. Behind the similar wording sit at least six distinct business models: a managed agency that places and replaces tutors, an international marketplace that lists them and takes a commission, an independent freelance tutor working alone, a tuition centre running group classes from premises, an online platform with no geography, and the school's own paid support sessions. Each prices differently, carries a different permit position, and fails in a different way when something goes wrong.

Comparing brands is unhelpful and, in this market, frequently misleading. Comparing models is useful, because the model determines what you can expect. An agency can replace a tutor and charges for that capability. A marketplace cannot, and is cheaper for the same reason. A freelance tutor is the cheapest one-to-one option and carries all the single-point-of-failure risk. A centre group class is cheaper per hour than anything one-to-one and buys you less attention per student. None of these is wrong; they are different purchases.

The permit question cuts across all six and is the one most families never ask. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. Because the permit is free, no model can cite permit cost as a reason for a higher rate.

IB Gram sits in the online one-to-one category and does not pretend otherwise. Tuition for UAE families is delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Al Jaddaf or anywhere else in the UAE; home visiting is a service we operate only in India. That is a limit worth stating on a page whose whole purpose is model comparison, because a reader deserves to know which column we occupy before reading our account of the others.

Al Jaddaf makes the comparison concrete because the district is compact and its school options are not. Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits inside Al Jaddaf. Everything else Al Jaddaf families use is elsewhere: Dubai Festival City across the Creek, Sobha Hartland and Nad Al Sheba south along Al Khail Road. A freelance tutor advertising nearby may be minutes away and still be the wrong board. A centre group class may be convenient and be taught to the other specification in the room.

What follows compares the six models on the things that differ, sets out what happens when no specialist covers a subject, lays out the permit categories so a parent can actually ask the right question, names the regulator in each emirate, and gives the honest version of how to start. Every AED figure belongs to the provider that published it and was read in October 2026.

At a glance

  • Six provider models hide behind one search phrase and price very differently
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free for two years, so no rate can cite its cost
  • Replacement capability is what an agency charges for and a marketplace does not have
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai is the school inside Al Jaddaf itself
  • Published Dubai hourly range across all models: AED 33 to AED 650
  • Lessons are online one-to-one; IB Gram does not visit UAE addresses

An Al Jaddaf family looking for IGCSE support is usually covering one of three situations. These are the routes we work with.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Assessed by written papers at the end of a two-year course, entered at Core or Extended in many subjects, with Core carrying a grade ceiling. Syllabus codes identify the content: Mathematics 0580, Physics 0625, Chemistry 0620, Biology 0610, First Language English 0500 or 0990, Additional Mathematics 0606.

Relevant to a model comparison: Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones with a separate timetable each, and states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. A centre group class drawn from several schools may contain candidates in different zones, which is one reason a group timetable cannot substitute for the school's own issued one.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Tiered Foundation and Higher in mathematics, with Specification A coded 4MA1 and sciences coded 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1. Science practical skills are assessed inside the written papers rather than through a separate practical examination, so apparatus and variable-control questions are a written skill.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so the live official PDF rather than a restated date is what we plan from.

Households with two boards

Al Jaddaf households frequently have children at two schools on two boards, because the district feeds several clusters. One child may sit Cambridge Extended and another Pearson Higher, which means two specifications, two tier systems and two sets of past papers in one home.

This is where a group class or a single generalist tutor breaks down fastest, and where parents most often discover they have bought one solution for two problems. Our scheduling answer is two separate one-to-one sessions placed back to back on one evening, which keeps the rest of the week clear and keeps a parent supervising once rather than four times.

POST-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

After IGCSE

Al Jaddaf's feeder schools split after Year 11 into Cambridge or Pearson A Level or the IB Diploma. Tier ceilings matter, because A Level Mathematics, Physics and Economics and IB Higher Level sciences assume the Extended or Higher tier content.

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, the published requirement is five accredited subjects at GCSE or IGCSE at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. A ranking competitor states six, which does not match the sourced rule. Verify your own case with the Ministry; IB Gram neither performs nor guarantees equivalency.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE subjects Al Jaddaf families ask for most, with a note on which provider model tends to serve each one adequately.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

The most requested subject. At Core or Foundation a group class or a budget tutor can genuinely work. At Extended or Higher the gap is usually unclaimed method marks, which needs somebody who has read the published scheme, and that is a one-to-one job.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Mechanics, electricity, waves and atomic physics. Pearson candidates need apparatus and variable questions drilled on paper. A group class mixing boards is a poor fit here, because the practical-skills route differs between the two specifications.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Stoichiometry, bonding, electrochemistry and organic chemistry. Moles arithmetic decides the grade, and it is a skill that benefits from immediate correction, which is what one-to-one provides and a group of eight cannot.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Wide content, precise marking on named structures and processes. The subject where a budget tutor or a well-run group class most often suffices, because the work is recall discipline rather than technique correction.

Combined and Co-ordinated Science (0653 / 0654)

Core and Extended

Two or three sciences in a smaller award. Broad per paper and shallow per topic, so revision must rotate. Group classes serve this reasonably when all students share the board and the tier, which is less common than centres imply.

English Language (0500 / 0990)

Extended

Reading response, directed writing and composition. Marks move when evidence is selected for an argument rather than summarised. Written feedback on a student's own work is the mechanism, so this is poorly served by group delivery.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0993)

Core and Extended

Reading, writing, listening and an optional speaking endorsement. Speaking practice benefits from one-to-one time; the reading and listening papers respond well to structured independent work at a lower cost.

Economics and Business Studies (0455 / 0450)

Core and Extended

Data response and case-study application decide the marks. A generic answer earns knowledge credit and stops. Anchoring to the named firm or dataset in the stem is teachable quickly and transfers between the two subjects.

Computer Science (0478)

Extended only

Data representation, networks, hardware and software, and algorithm design with pseudocode. A minority subject, so local coverage in any one district is thin and this is where a geography-bounded model fails first.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Extended only, no lower tier

Calculus, binomial expansion and advanced trigonometry alongside 0580. The clearest example of a subject where the available model matters more than the price: a freelance tutor nearby who has not taught it is not a substitute for one who has.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

The three formats we offer, all delivered online one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not run group classes, and where a group class is the better purchase we will say so.

One-to-one weekly, specification matched

One hour a week on the exact code and tier, planned against the school's own teaching order. This is the format that justifies a one-to-one rate, because the whole value is immediate correction of a specific error pattern rather than exposure to content.

  • Matched to the board, code and tier before the first lesson
  • Same slot weekly, chosen for the worst normal weekday
  • A written note after each session naming the practice set
  • Pause a week for school assessments without losing the slot

Short diagnostic block

Six to eight sessions aimed at a named weakness identified by a marked timed paper, ending at the school's next assessment. Cheaper than an open weekly arrangement, and it is what we recommend whenever the diagnostic points at technique rather than at a broad content gap.

  • One timed paper marked to the published scheme first
  • A stated session count agreed before the first lesson
  • Finish line tied to a school assessment, not a month count
  • Written note naming the evidence that would show movement

Pre-series intensive

A compressed run in the eight to twelve weeks before a June or November series, built on timed papers marked to the scheme. The most expensive format per week, and the one where booking the slot early costs the same and secures a better match.

  • Papers on the correct board, code and tier only
  • Marking question by question against the official scheme
  • Frequency raised in school holidays rather than assessment weeks
  • A shortening topic list the student can see getting shorter

Six provider models, compared on what differs

This is the table that should exist on every page in this market and exists on none of them. Competitors compare themselves against an unnamed category of other platforms, which tells a reader nothing. A model-level comparison tells you what you can reasonably expect from each kind of business and where each one breaks, and it lets you price the difference instead of guessing at it.

The headline price differences are real and explainable. A tuition centre group class is cheapest per hour because the cost is divided across a room. A freelance independent tutor is the cheapest one-to-one option because there is no organisation behind the rate, and that is also the whole of the risk: no replacement, no cover for illness, no second opinion. A managed agency charges more because replacement capability costs money to maintain. An international marketplace is cheaper than an agency and typically quotes in a currency other than dirhams, which is itself a signal about who the page was written for.

The permit position differs by model too, and it is the question a parent should ask of whichever one they choose. An individual providing private tutoring needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, applied for through MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service. A tuition operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry.

One model is worth treating separately. The school's own paid support sessions sit inside the school's governance, which is an advantage, but a teacher taking paid private work with students enrolled at their own school is a different matter. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi school staff from exactly that, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Ask the school which arrangement a support session falls under before assuming it is the same thing.

02

When a group class is the right purchase, and when it is not

  • Group classes are the cheapest per hour and genuinely suit practice volume
  • A mixed-board, mixed-tier room makes the teaching imprecise for everyone in it
  • Centre locations suit commercial districts rather than school catchments
  • Immediate correction of an error pattern is a one-to-one capability, not a group one

A tuition centre group class is the cheapest format per hour in this market, because the cost of a teacher is divided across a room. That is a genuine saving and it is the right purchase in specific circumstances, which is worth saying on a page published by a one-to-one provider. Where a student needs exposure to more worked examples, structured time to practise, and the discipline of a fixed appointment, a well-run group class delivers that at a fraction of one-to-one cost.

It stops working when the room is mixed. A class advertised as IGCSE Mathematics may contain Cambridge Core candidates, Cambridge Extended candidates, Pearson Foundation and Pearson Higher candidates at once, because centres draw from several schools. The content overlaps enough to make the class deliverable and differs enough to make it imprecise, and the student who most needed correction gets the least, since a teacher managing eight students cannot interrupt one of them mid-error.

For an Al Jaddaf family there is also a practical scheduling problem. Tuition centres cluster in commercial districts, and a class time fixed at 17:00 suits a student who finished school nearby and not one who arrives home from Nad Al Sheba at 17:15. Travel to a centre adds the journey back into an evening that online delivery had already removed it from, which is a cost in time rather than money and is frequently the reason a centre arrangement lapses by the middle of term.

The honest rule of thumb. If the problem is practice volume and a student who works better with others around, a group class is the better value. If the problem is an error pattern that needs catching as it happens, immediate correction is the entire value and a room of eight cannot provide it. Diagnose first, then choose the format, rather than choosing the format and hoping it fits the problem.

03

What happens when nobody covers your subject

No competitor page in the research behind this site discloses a coverage limit. Several route UAE parents to a non-UAE phone number without saying where delivery actually happens. We take the opposite approach, because a disclosed limit is more useful than an implied capability, and because the subjects where coverage is thin are predictable rather than random.

Thin coverage concentrates in three places. Minority subjects first: Additional Mathematics 0606, Computer Science 0478, and Pearson Specification B rather than Specification A. Second, particular tier and board combinations at the top end, where a specialist has to have taught that exact paper through to a series. Third, time: the eight to twelve weeks before a June or November series, when every school's cohort reaches the same point simultaneously and demand across Dubai peaks in the same fortnight.

Our rule is to say so rather than to place somebody adjacent. If no tutor with the right specification has a slot in your window, you get told that, given a realistic wait, and offered the nearest honest alternative: a different time slot, a shorter weekly commitment with a specialist whose availability is limited, or paper-technique and command-term work while the subject slot remains pending. What you do not get is a general tutor presented as a specification match, which is the failure that shows up at mock time with no runway left.

There is one more disclosure worth making plainly. Where a UAE-based tutor is unavailable for a niche subject, delivery may come from a specialist based outside the UAE, online and on Gulf Standard Time. That is stated rather than concealed, because concealing it behind a local-looking listing is precisely the trust failure we were built to avoid. The table sets out the coverage picture by subject type.

04

Is the tutor legally permitted to teach in the UAE?

This is the question with the clearest answer and the one least often asked. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. The eligible categories are deliberately broad, which is why a parent should ask which category applies rather than whether a permit exists in the abstract.

Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. The application route is MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit for Private Tutor Licensing, through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system, listed with no fee and a two-working-day completion time. That is the official channel and the one to point any tutor towards.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published. A figure circulating in this market could not be verified against any official source, and the ministry was reported as not having specified the amounts or detailed the penalties, so no amount appears here and any amount quoted to you should be treated as unverified.

One important distinction. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is not an individual tutor and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That permit belongs to institutes with premises. IB Gram does not hold one and does not need one, because we have no UAE premises, no UAE office and no UAE branch, and we say so rather than implying otherwise.

Who regulates your child's school, and why it is not your tutor

A parent searching near me in Al Jaddaf is in Dubai, so the regulator is KHDA. But families move between emirates, and households with children at schools in two emirates are common, so the whole map is worth having. Five bodies cover private schools across the seven emirates, and only one of them is named by most pages in this market. ADEK, which regulates Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, is named by none of the competitors in the research behind this site.

What each body does is more than inspection. In Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah the authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so curriculum and fee approval sits with the emirate regulator rather than federally. The Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The federal baseline is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations.

The point for a tutoring decision is a negative one, and it is important. None of these bodies approves, accredits or licenses tutors or tutoring platforms. A KHDA inspection rating judges a school. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson. Any provider implying regulator endorsement is making a claim worth checking before money moves.

The Dubai context is worth one paragraph because it explains the market. KHDA reported 227 private schools serving 387,441 students in 2024-25 across seventeen curricula, with UK curricula at thirty-seven per cent of enrolment, Indian at twenty-six, US at fourteen and the International Baccalaureate at seven. Seven new private schools join for the 2026-27 intake creating 16,846 places, and KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that fees would not rise for that year under Dubai's second economic incentives package.

Materials, coursework and the lines a legitimate provider holds

  • Board documents are referenced and linked, never reproduced or supplied as downloads
  • A tutor gives feedback on the student's own work and never produces it
  • Completed assessments sold in this market are a malpractice risk for the candidate
  • A lead form asking for a child's school, grades and photo should state purpose and deletion

Two of the six models in this market routinely cross lines that a parent should know about, and both are visible before you pay. The first is materials. Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables are copyright works. They should be referenced and linked from the board's own site, not reproduced or supplied as downloads. A provider advertising a library of papers is offering something a legitimate operation would not, and it is reasonable to wonder what else they are relaxed about.

The second is coursework. IGCSE carries less assessed coursework than the IB Diploma, but where it exists the boundary is identical: a tutor teaches, explains, models technique and gives feedback on work the student produced. A tutor does not write, complete, substantially rewrite or supply it. There are providers in this market selling completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price. The consequence of that falls on the candidate as a malpractice matter, not on the seller, which is the part the advertising omits.

A third line is quieter and worth naming. Lead forms collect personal data about minors, and UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection applies. A form that asks for a child's school, grades and photograph without stating what the data is for, how long it is kept and how to have it deleted is a form worth not completing. A privacy link should be present on every page that collects anything.

What we do instead of supplying material is show the student where the official source lives, which is a transferable skill. A student who can locate a current syllabus on cambridgeinternational.org or a timetable on qualifications.pearson.com can also check a claim a tutor has made, including one of ours. That is a better outcome than a folder of files, and it costs nothing.

Starting from Al Jaddaf, with the limits stated

  • Send board, specification code, tier and two workable evening windows
  • One free trial lesson per student, with no payment or card details beforehand
  • Al Jaddaf's short journeys often make 16:30 workable; weekends widen tutor choice
  • Non-UAE delivery for niche subjects is disclosed rather than hidden behind a local listing

Send four things: the board, the specification code, the tier, and two evening windows that genuinely work from Al Jaddaf after the school run. If 0606 or Pearson Specification B is involved, say so, because those change the match time and we would rather tell you the wait up front than discover it after you have committed. We then match a specification specialist and run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep.

One trial per student, nothing charged beforehand, and no card details required to book it. The tutor writes a short note on what they found and what they would address first. That note is the thing to judge us on, because a note that names a specific weakness and the evidence that would show it moving is what makes the next term affordable. A general note means nobody has diagnosed anything yet.

Al Jaddaf scheduling has one genuine advantage worth using. The district is compact and minutes from the Creek crossings, so a student at a school inside Al Jaddaf or across in Dubai Festival City is often home in time for a 16:30 start, which is earlier than most Dubai neighbourhoods manage. For mathematics and the sciences, which lose more to fatigue than reading subjects do, that is worth real money across a term. Where the school is further out, a weekend morning is the better slot and it also widens the choice of tutor.

Finally, the limits. Nobody can promise a grade and this page does not. Nothing here implies that tutoring is required for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, for university admission or for school progression; those are regulatory and institutional processes with their own published rules, and the authority rather than any tutoring provider is where to verify them. And where a UAE-based specialist is unavailable for a niche subject, delivery may come from a specialist based outside the UAE, online and on Gulf Standard Time, which we state rather than conceal.

Where we tutor

What "near me" resolves to from Al Jaddaf

Al Jaddaf is compact and its school catchment is not, so proximity and relevance point in different directions. These are the districts the search actually spans.

Al Jaddaf

Towers beside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 and the Creek, with Swiss International Scientific School Dubai inside the district. Short journeys make a 16:30 start achievable, which is earlier than most Dubai neighbourhoods manage.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront next door, sharing roads and school destinations. A tutor advertising in one of these two districts is effectively advertising in both, which inflates how local a listing looks.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Across the water with no school inside the community. Creek Harbour pupils commute to the same clusters Al Jaddaf pupils use but arrive home later, so a shared group class rarely suits both.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Minutes along the Creek, with no large private secondary school in either district. Tuition centres cluster in commercial districts like these, which is why a centre near the office is often not near the school.

Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai sit a short run south. Al Jaddaf pupils enrolled here arrive home around 17:00, which rules out most centre class start times.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

Repton School Dubai, Kent College Dubai and GEMS Modern Academy. The longest routine commute from Al Jaddaf, and the cluster where only a weekend group class would be practical.

Dubai Festival City

Deira International School and Universal American School Dubai across the Creek. The nearest additional provision, and the cluster where a 16:45 one-to-one session is comfortably achievable.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

A mixed school and light-industrial district further west where several tuition centres operate. Convenient for families already travelling that way and a long detour for anyone else.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Jaddaf

Al Jaddaf and across the Creek

Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits inside Al Jaddaf, with further international provision in Dubai Festival City. For a model comparison this is the cluster where a local freelance tutor is genuinely plausible on distance, and where the board question therefore decides everything.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Decide which model you are actually buying

Agency, marketplace, freelance, centre group class, online one-to-one or school support. Each prices differently and fails differently. Replacement capability is the main thing an agency or platform charges for and a freelance tutor cannot provide, and that matters most in the final term.

  2. 02

    Ask the permit question

Not whether a permit exists in the abstract, but which MoHRE category applies and whether it is current. The permit is free for two years and applied for through MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service, so there is no cost reason for a tutor not to hold one.

  3. 03

    Confirm the specification in writing

Board, code and tier. Cambridge 0580 Core or Extended, 0606, Pearson 4MA1 at Foundation or Higher, or 4MB1. A photograph of the statement of entry settles it in a minute and prevents a term of good teaching aimed at an adjacent paper.

  4. 04

    Run one diagnostic paper

Timed, on the exact code and tier, marked against the published scheme question by question. It decides whether the problem needs one-to-one correction or practice volume, which in turn decides whether a group class or a one-to-one arrangement is the better purchase.

  5. 05

Take the free trial in the real slot

One per student, live and one-to-one in the time you intend to keep, so you are testing the arrangement rather than a demonstration. No payment beforehand and no card details required. Judge it on the tutor's written note rather than on how the hour felt.

  6. 06

Review against a mark, then decide

At the school's next assessment, ask whether the targeted weakness moved and what evidence shows it. If nobody can name a mark, the block ends rather than renewing. That one discipline prevents most of the money wasted across every model in this market.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We compare models, not brands

Every competitor page in this market compares itself to an unnamed category of other platforms. A model-level comparison with sourced rates tells a parent what to expect from each kind of business, including the cases where a group class or a freelance tutor is the better purchase.

Coverage limits disclosed in advance

Thin coverage is predictable: Additional Mathematics 0606, Computer Science 0478, Pearson Specification B, and the eight to twelve weeks before a series. We give a realistic wait rather than placing a general tutor against a specification and calling it a match.

Non-UAE delivery stated, not hidden

Where a UAE-based specialist is unavailable for a niche subject, delivery may come from a specialist outside the UAE, online on Gulf Standard Time. Several providers in this market conceal non-UAE delivery behind a local-looking listing or a non-UAE phone number.

The permit question asked properly

Not whether a permit exists, but which MoHRE category applies and whether it is current. The permit is free for two years, so a provider citing permit costs as a reason for a higher rate is charging for something that does not exist.

No UAE office, and we say so

IB Gram has no UAE premises, office or branch, which is also why it needs no KHDA Educational Services Permit. One competitor in this market shows a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page, which is a misrepresentation rather than a presentation choice.

The regulator map, complete

KHDA in Dubai, ADEK in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, SPEA in Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah, and the Ministry of Education in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. None of them approves tutors, and we name all five rather than the one that sounds useful.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Jaddaf: your questions answered

What kinds of business come up when I search for an IGCSE tutor near me in Al Jaddaf?+

Six, behind similar wording. A managed agency that places and replaces tutors; an international marketplace that lists them and takes a commission; an independent freelance tutor working alone; a tuition centre running group classes from premises; an online one-to-one platform with no geography; and your school's own paid support sessions. Each prices differently and fails differently. Replacement capability is the main thing an agency or platform charges for, and the main thing a freelance tutor, however good, cannot provide.

Which model is cheapest per hour, and what does the saving cost?+

A tuition centre group class, because the cost of a teacher divides across the room. The saving is real and so is the trade: a class advertised as IGCSE Mathematics may contain Cambridge Core, Cambridge Extended, Pearson Foundation and Pearson Higher candidates at once, since centres draw from several schools. A teacher managing eight students cannot interrupt one mid-error, so the student who most needs correction gets the least. If the problem is practice volume rather than error correction, a group class is the better purchase.

How do I check whether a tutor is legally permitted to teach in the UAE?+

Ask which MoHRE category applies and whether the permit is current. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service, with no fee and a stated two working days. Because it is free, there is no cost reason for a tutor not to hold one.

Are there fines for tutoring in the UAE without a permit, and how much?+

Individuals offering private tutoring without a MoHRE permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published. A figure circulating in this market could not be verified against any official source, and the ministry was reported as not having specified the amounts or detailed the penalties. So no amount appears on this page, and any specific figure quoted to you by a provider should be treated as unverified, which is itself a useful signal about their other claims.

Does a tuition centre in Dubai need a different licence from an individual tutor?+

Yes, and the two are separate legal positions. An individual needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram holds neither a centre permit nor any UAE premises, office or branch, and we say so rather than implying a local presence we do not have.

Which authority regulates my child's school if we move emirate?+

Five bodies cover the seven emirates. KHDA regulates Dubai. ADEK handles licensing and accreditation of private schools in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates Sharjah and the Department of Knowledge regulates Ras Al Khaimah, and both approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes and assessment methods. The Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. None of these bodies approves, accredits or licenses tutors or tutoring platforms, which is the point most relevant to choosing one.

What happens if no tutor covers my child's subject and tier?+

We tell you, give a realistic wait, and offer the nearest honest alternative rather than placing somebody adjacent. Thin coverage is predictable: Additional Mathematics 0606, Computer Science 0478, Pearson Specification B, and the eight to twelve weeks before a June or November series when every Dubai cohort reaches the same point at once. The alternatives are a different slot, a shorter commitment with a specialist whose availability is limited, or command-term and paper-technique work while the subject slot stays pending.

Could my child end up being taught by a tutor who is not in the UAE?+

For a niche subject, possibly, and we state it rather than conceal it. Where no UAE-based specialist is available, delivery may come from a specialist based elsewhere, online and scheduled on Gulf Standard Time so the session still fits an Al Jaddaf evening. Several providers in this market conceal non-UAE delivery behind a local-looking listing or a non-UAE contact number, which is a trust failure rather than a logistics detail. If where the tutor sits matters to you, ask before booking and expect a straight answer.

Is an independent freelance tutor in Al Jaddaf a bad idea?+

Not at all, and it is usually the cheapest one-to-one option available. The trade is single-point-of-failure risk: no replacement if they are ill, no cover if they relocate or change jobs, and no second opinion if the match is not working. In Year 10 that risk is tolerable. In the final term before a series it is the expensive part, because a local replacement takes weeks to find. Ask what happens if they become unavailable, and treat a vague answer as the answer.

Does a tutor advertising in Al Jaddaf actually know my child's board?+

Ask, because proximity carries no information about it. Al Jaddaf is compact but its school catchment spans several clusters on both sides of the Creek, and those schools do not share one examination board. A tutor minutes away may be experienced in Cambridge 0580 Extended while your child sits Pearson 4MA1 Higher, where the paper structure, tier system and formula support all differ. Confirm the board, the specification code and the tier before any lessons, using the statement of entry.

Is paying a subject teacher from our own school for private lessons allowed in the UAE?+

You should not, and a professional teacher will decline. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the teacher's own school, and the MoHRE private tuition permit carries a code of conduct that also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Beyond the rules it creates a conflict: the person teaching the class and marking its assessments should not be separately paid by one family in it. Ask the school which arrangement a paid support session falls under.

Why do some tutoring sites quote prices in dollars rather than dirhams?+

Because they were written for a different audience and localised afterwards, if at all. Of the strongest pages researched for this market, three publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars, a currency UAE families do not transact in. Alongside that, two route UAE parents to non-UAE phone numbers. None of that makes a provider incompetent, but it does tell you how much of the page was written with a Dubai parent in mind, which is reasonable information to weigh when comparing.

Will a provider give me past papers and mark schemes to keep?+

Some offer it, and a legitimate one should not. Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables are copyright works to be referenced and linked from the board's own site rather than reproduced or redistributed. A provider advertising a library of papers is offering something outside the rules, which raises a fair question about what else they are relaxed about. We work from the official source in the session and show the student where to find it themselves.

Should I be cautious about a form asking for my child's grades and photograph?+

Yes, unless the purpose is stated. Lead forms collect personal data about minors and UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection applies. A form asking for a child's school, grades and photograph without saying what the data is for, how long it is kept and how to have it deleted is one to leave incomplete. A privacy link should appear on every page that collects anything, and a provider unwilling to explain its data handling before you enrol has answered a different question.

How early in the evening can an IGCSE session realistically begin in this district?+

Often 16:30, which is earlier than most Dubai districts manage. Al Jaddaf is compact, sits beside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 and is minutes from the Creek crossings, so a student at a school inside the district or across in Dubai Festival City is frequently home in time. Pupils travelling to Sobha Hartland sit better at 17:00 and those commuting to Nad Al Sheba at 17:15 or later. Mathematics and the sciences lose more to fatigue than reading subjects, so the earlier slot is worth taking.

Choose the model first, then the tutor

If you are searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Al Jaddaf, decide which of the six models you are actually buying before comparing rates, then ask the permit question and confirm the specification. Send us the board, the code, the tier and two evening windows that work after the Al Jaddaf school run. We will match a specification specialist, tell you honestly if the wait is longer for a scarce subject, and run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep. Lessons are one-to-one and online on Gulf Standard Time, with no UAE home visits and no regulator claims. Every AED figure here belongs to the provider named.
