IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Jaddaf

Before hiring an IGCSE home tutor in Al Jaddaf, it is worth seeing the invoice taken apart. A visiting hour in Dubai is quoted between AED 180 and AED 500 against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online, and the difference is mostly a car on the Creek-side roads at five o'clock. This page itemises the premium, says what each price tier genuinely buys, and names the costs nobody mentions. Lessons here run one-to-one online on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Every AED figure attributed to the provider that published it, with the month read
  • Lessons are live online one-to-one; IB Gram makes no UAE home visits
  • No IB Gram hourly rate printed, because it depends on code, tier and series proximity

IB & IGCSE in Al Jaddaf

Take the invoice apart before you sign it

An IGCSE home tutor in Al Jaddaf is a product with two components, and almost nobody separates them. One component is teaching: a person who knows Cambridge 0580 Extended or Pearson 4MA1 Higher and can mark against the published scheme. The other is logistics: that person physically arriving at your building, which means time in a car on the roads around Dubai Healthcare City and the Creek crossings at exactly the hour they are busiest. You are charged for both in one number, and the second part is invisible.

The published figures make the split visible. Bestimate's rate table for Dubai puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 350; home-tutor providers quote AED 200 to AED 500. A qualified subject tutor working online in Dubai is quoted at roughly AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150. Those are different providers rather than a controlled comparison, but the direction is consistent across every source we could read, and the logistical component is the obvious explanation. Monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour sessions sit in the same market alongside AED 799 a month for eight online sessions.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Al Jaddaf or anywhere else in the UAE. Tuition for UAE families is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home visiting is a service we operate only in India. Saying so early matters on a page like this, because the rest of it is a cost argument and you should know who is making it. The argument is not simply that online is cheaper. It is that the premium buys presence in the room while costing you the size of the pool you can choose a specialist from, and for IGCSE the specification matters more than the room.

Then there are the costs that are not the hourly rate at all, and these catch Al Jaddaf families more often than the rate does. Whether a quote is per hour or per lesson. Whether a sixty-minute session is actually fifty. Whether VAT is included in the figure you were given. What happens to a paid-for session cancelled at short notice. Whether a monthly package expires. Whether the tutor charges travel separately in addition to the hourly figure, and whether a second child in the same session costs more. None of these appear in a headline rate and all of them change the annual total.

A second category of cost sits outside tuition entirely and belongs in the same budget. Examination entry fees, if a student is entered as a private candidate rather than through a school. Replacement textbooks for a changed specification. The cost of a November resit if a June grade is not what was needed. Families plan for the tutor and are surprised by the rest, and the resit is the expensive one because it arrives unbudgeted at the end of an already expensive year.

What follows itemises all of it: the premium taken apart, what each AED tier actually buys, a monthly budget across Year 10 and Year 11, the extras in a table, the equivalency rule that determines how many subjects you are paying for in the first place, and how Al Jaddaf's short commute makes each hour cheaper in real terms than it is for neighbouring districts.

At a glance

  • An in-home rate bundles teaching and travel into one invisible number
  • Published Dubai rates: AED 180-500 in-home against AED 150-300 online qualified
  • Ask whether the quote is per hour or per lesson, and whether VAT is included
  • Budget for the November resit possibility before it becomes a surprise
  • MoE British-track equivalency needs five accredited subjects, not six
  • Lessons are online one-to-one; IB Gram does not visit UAE addresses

An Al Jaddaf family buying IGCSE support is usually at one of three points, and the right spend differs at each. These are the routes we cover.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

A two-year course assessed by written papers at the end, entered at Core or Extended in many subjects. Core carries a grade ceiling; Extended carries the full range. Syllabus codes identify the content precisely: Mathematics 0580, Physics 0625, Chemistry 0620, Biology 0610, Additional Mathematics 0606.

The cost-relevant detail is tiering. A Core entry is cheaper to prepare for and closes the top grades, which can mean paying again at post-16 level for a route that was foreclosed at sixteen. Cambridge also allocates centres to one of six administrative zones with a separate timetable each, and states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. Use the school's issued timetable.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Pearson's international qualification, tiered Foundation and Higher in mathematics, with Specification A for maths coded 4MA1 and sciences coded 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1. Science practical skills are assessed inside the written papers rather than through a separate practical examination.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. That January timing is a budgeting fact as much as a calendar one, because a November resit decision is taken in August and paid for in the autumn.

RESITAges 16+ · After a June series

The November resit route

Both Cambridge and Pearson offer a November series available to UAE candidates, which functions as the standard retake path. Entry is made through the school's exam office shortly after June results, and results arrive in the new year rather than in August.

This is the single most commonly unbudgeted cost in an Al Jaddaf family's IGCSE year. A resit means an entry fee, a compressed period of intensive tuition in the autumn at the point when demand and therefore scarcity are highest, and a results date in the new year that may land after sixth-form conversations have moved on. Deciding in advance what June result would trigger a resit turns a surprise into a plan.

POST-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

What the grades are being bought for

IGCSE grades feed into A Level, IB Diploma or other post-16 routes, and tier ceilings matter here. A Level Mathematics, Physics and Economics and IB Higher Level sciences assume the Extended or Higher tier content, so a lower-tier entry taken for safety can close a route.

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students submit proof of five accredited subjects at GCSE or IGCSE at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. One ranking competitor states six subjects, which does not match the sourced rule. Verify your own case with the Ministry.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Where Al Jaddaf families actually spend their IGCSE tutoring budget, and what the money is buying in each subject.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

The most commonly bought subject and the one where the cheapest tier is least adequate at the top. Extended and Higher work is algebraic fractions, formula rearrangement and multi-step probability, where a method written in full earns marks a correct answer alone would forfeit.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Mechanics, electricity, waves and atomic physics. Pearson candidates need apparatus and variable-control questions drilled on paper because practical skills are assessed in the written papers. Unit conversion inside multi-stage calculations is the reliable loss.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Stoichiometry, bonding, electrochemistry, organic chemistry and qualitative analysis. Moles arithmetic decides the grade, and a student who can construct a half-equation rather than recall one scores consistently higher on the longer paper.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Wide content and precise marking. Marks go to named structures, named processes and correctly directed diagram arrows. It is the subject where cheap support is most often adequate, because the work is recall discipline rather than technique.

Combined and Co-ordinated Science (0653 / 0654)

Core and Extended

Two or three sciences in a smaller award, broad per paper and shallower per topic. Revision needs to rotate rather than block. Students moving into a post-16 single science from this route usually carry a real gap in quantitative chemistry.

English Language (0500 / 0990)

Extended

Reading response, directed writing and composition. Marks move when a student selects evidence for an argument rather than summarising a passage. Register errors in directed writing cost more than grammar errors do.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0993)

Core and Extended

Reading, writing, listening and an optional speaking endorsement. Vocabulary range is scored, so a student recycling one connective across four paragraphs caps their own band regardless of accuracy.

Economics and Business Studies (0455 / 0450)

Core and Extended

Data response and case-study application decide the marks. A generic answer earns knowledge credit and stops; the same answer anchored to the named firm or dataset in the stem earns application and analysis credit too.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Extended only, no lower tier

Calculus, binomial expansion, advanced trigonometry and vectors taken alongside 0580. The most expensive subject to support because specialist availability is thin, and the one with the clearest post-16 payoff.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Al Jaddaf families buy IGCSE support, all delivered online one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The cheapest effective option is usually the one with a stated endpoint.

A short block with a finish line

Six to eight sessions aimed at a named weakness, ending when the next school assessment shows it has moved. Less revenue for us and better value for you, and it is what we recommend whenever a diagnostic paper points at technique rather than at a broad content gap.

  • Begins with one timed paper marked to the published scheme
  • A defined number of sessions agreed before the first one
  • Written note after each session naming the practice set
  • Ends at the next school assessment rather than drifting on

Weekly term-time support

One hour a week across a term, for a student carrying a genuine content gap rather than a technique one. More expensive over a year than a short block and justified when the gap is broad, for instance after a mid-year move between curricula.

  • Same weekly slot chosen for the worst normal weekday
  • Planned against the school's own scheme of work
  • Reviewed at each school reporting point, not at a fixed month count
  • Reduced to a short block as soon as the gap narrows

Pre-series intensive

A compressed run in the eight to twelve weeks before a June or November series. The most expensive format per week and the only one that makes sense late, because timed-paper work has to happen under real conditions and that takes calendar room rather than extra hours.

  • Timed papers on the correct board, code and tier
  • Marking against the official scheme, question by question
  • Frequency raised during school holidays, not during assessment week
  • A shortening topic list the student can see getting shorter

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Jaddaf

01

The in-home premium, itemised

Here is the premium taken apart. A visiting tutor in Dubai is quoted between AED 180 and AED 500 an hour across the sources we could read, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online. The difference is not a quality difference, because it is frequently the same calibre of teacher. It is a bundle of costs that exist only because somebody travels, and once they are listed separately the decision becomes straightforward rather than emotional.

The first item is the tutor's unpaid travel time, which has to be recovered inside the billed hour. For Al Jaddaf that means getting onto and off a road network shared with Dubai Healthcare City, the Creek crossings and Business Bay traffic in the late afternoon. The second is route density: a visiting tutor can only serve families whose homes cluster, so their diary is built around geography rather than subject, and your match is constrained by their route before it is constrained by your child's specification.

The third is schedule rigidity. A visiting tutor cannot absorb a late finish, so a session delayed by twenty minutes is a session shortened by twenty minutes, and a cancellation inside the travel window is usually charged in full because the time cannot be resold. The fourth is replacement cost. If the arrangement ends mid-term, a local replacement takes weeks because the pool is bounded by the same geography, and in the final term before a series that delay is the expensive part rather than the rate.

What the premium genuinely buys is also worth stating, because there are cases where it is the right purchase. A younger or easily distracted student benefits from an adult physically present. Primary work with manipulatives and physical materials works better in a room. A household with unreliable connectivity has a practical reason. For a Year 10 or Year 11 IGCSE candidate working on past papers, none of those apply, and the premium is buying logistics rather than learning.

What AED 50, AED 150 and AED 300 an hour actually buy

Price tiers in this market correspond to real differences, and the useful question is not which tier is best but which tier matches the job. Buying above the job is waste and buying below it is a term spent not solving the problem. For a lot of IGCSE work, the cheap tier is genuinely sufficient, which is not something a tutoring provider normally says out loud.

At the bottom, budget online tutoring in Dubai is advertised from AED 33 to AED 52 by Tutopiya and from AED 45 to AED 65 by EdFlik. That typically means somebody who sat the subject recently rather than taught it to a series. For unblocking a Core or Foundation homework problem, for Biology recall discipline, or for a Year 10 who needs company while working rather than instruction, it can be entirely adequate and buying more would be money spent on reassurance.

The middle tier, AED 150 to AED 300 online with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150, buys someone who has taught the specification and can mark against the published scheme. That is the capability that matters for Extended and Higher tier work, because the gap at those tiers is usually technique rather than knowledge, and identifying an unclaimed method mark requires somebody who has read the scheme. This is where most IGCSE spending belongs.

Above it, specialist rates of AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate's specialist band at AED 200 to AED 450 or more, and BartyED publishing AED 650 at the top. For IGCSE those rates are justified in narrow cases: Additional Mathematics 0606, a scarce subject combination, or a compressed pre-series rescue where experience of what moves marks quickly has real value. Outside those, the middle tier does the same job. Every figure here belongs to the named provider and was read in October 2026.

03

A two-year IGCSE budget, written out

  • Monthly bands are per subject: AED 240-600 budget, AED 600-1,200 mid, AED 1,000-2,000+ exam-year
  • Spend unevenly: a short Year 10 diagnostic block, weekly only where a gap is real
  • Book the pre-series window early; the price is the same and the match is better
  • Budget the November resit possibility in advance rather than discovering it in August
  • KHDA froze Dubai private school fees for 2026-27 on 22 May 2026

Families plan a month and get surprised by a year, so here is the arithmetic across Year 10 and Year 11. Bestimate's published monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run roughly AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 in the middle band, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Those are per subject. A family supporting three subjects at the middle band is looking at a materially different number from one supporting one.

The shape of a sensible two-year spend is uneven rather than flat. Year 10 is where a short diagnostic block costs little and prevents a lot, because a technique problem identified at fifteen is cheap to fix and the same problem at sixteen is not. The first half of Year 11 is where weekly support earns its place if a genuine gap exists. The eight to twelve weeks before the series is the expensive window, and it is expensive precisely because everyone buys at the same time, so booking the slot earlier costs the same and secures a better match.

Two line items sit outside tuition and belong in the same budget. If a student is entered as a private candidate rather than through their school, examination entry fees apply and the school or centre will quote them; this matters for a resit or for a subject the school does not offer. And the November resit itself is the commonly unbudgeted one: an entry, a compressed autumn of intensive work at peak demand, and results arriving in the new year. Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

The cost in context is worth anchoring. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package. Against a school fee that is not increasing, a tutoring budget that doubles year on year deserves a question. The honest test is whether the last block of hours moved a measurable mark, and if nobody can say, that is the answer.

04

The extras that catch Al Jaddaf parents off guard

The hourly rate is the number everyone compares and it is not where the surprises live. Ask whether the quote is per hour or per lesson, because a fifty-minute lesson billed as an hour is a twenty per cent price increase hidden in a definition. Ask whether VAT is included in the figure you were given; we limit ourselves to stating whether our own quoted prices include it rather than making claims about the UAE tax treatment of tuition, which would need a Federal Tax Authority citation to assert.

Ask about cancellation. A visiting tutor who has already travelled cannot resell the slot, so late cancellation is normally charged in full, and over a term with illness and school trips that adds up to real money. Ask whether a monthly package expires, and whether unused sessions roll over, because an eight-session package bought in a month containing a school holiday can quietly become a six-session package. Ask whether a second child in the same household and the same session is charged separately.

Ask about materials. We do not supply past papers, mark schemes or syllabus documents as downloads, because Cambridge and Pearson documents are copyright works that should be referenced and linked rather than redistributed. A provider offering a library of papers is offering something a legitimate operation would not, and it is worth noticing what else they might be relaxed about. We work from the official source in the session and show the student how to find it themselves.

Finally, ask what happens if the match is wrong. The useful answer is a replacement inside the same week, which is only possible when the pool is not bounded by driving distance. The unhelpful answer is a credit note. For an Al Jaddaf family in the final term before a series, the speed of replacement is worth more than a small difference in the hourly rate.

QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE THE FIRST INVOICE
QuestionWhy it mattersThe answer you want
Is the quote per hour or per lesson?A fifty-minute lesson billed as an hour is a hidden price risePer hour, with the session length stated in minutes
Does the figure include VAT?A quote that excludes it is not comparable with one that includes itStated plainly either way, for your own quoted price
What is the cancellation policy?A travelled tutor cannot resell the slot, so late cancellation is chargedA clear notice window, in writing, before the first session
Does a monthly package expire?A month with a school holiday can shrink an eight-session packageRollover stated, or no package at all
Is travel charged on top of the rate? Some visiting arrangements itemise it separatelyNo travel line, because no travel happens
Are papers and mark schemes supplied?Redistributing board documents is not something a legitimate provider doesReferenced and linked from the official site, never supplied
How fast can the tutor be replaced? In the final term, replacement speed is worth more than the rateWithin the same week, from a pool not bounded by a drive
05

How many subjects are you actually paying for?

  • Five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education
  • Plus one Advanced Level at E, or two Advanced Subsidiary Levels at E
  • A ranking competitor publishes six; the sourced rule is five
  • American track: IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 reading and writing, plus SAT Math 450
  • No IB points threshold is published here, because none could be sourced

This question decides the budget before any hourly rate does, and it is where a widely circulated error costs money. For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students must submit proof of five accredited subjects at GCSE or IGCSE at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects.

One competitor page ranking for Gulf parents states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects. That does not match the sourced rule. A family that believed it and bought support for a sixth subject purely to satisfy equivalency has spent money on a requirement that does not exist. We publish the five-subject figure with its source because being right about it is worth more than any marketing line, and because it is a decision a parent makes with real money attached.

Two things that follow. First, equivalency and school requirements are different things: a school may require more subjects than equivalency does, for its own curricular reasons, and that is the school's decision to explain. Second, nothing about equivalency implies tutoring is needed for it. It is a regulatory process with published requirements, performed by the Ministry or the emirate attestation authority, and IB Gram neither performs it nor guarantees it. Verify your own case with the authority rather than with any tutoring provider, including this one.

The American-track figures are sourced too and worth knowing if a household has children on both. English proficiency requires a score of 5 in IELTS academic, 61 in TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section; mathematics requires at least 450 in SAT Math. No IB points threshold appears in the source we read, so no IB equivalency figure is published on this page.

06

Why an Al Jaddaf hour costs less in real terms

  • The real unit price is the rate divided by the usable fraction of the hour
  • Al Jaddaf's short journeys often make 16:30 achievable, which is unusual in Dubai
  • Maths and sciences lose more to fatigue than reading subjects do
  • For far-out schools, a weekend morning is both cheaper in real terms and easier to match

If the rate is fixed, the real unit price is the rate divided by the usable fraction of the hour, and that fraction depends on when the session starts. Al Jaddaf is unusually well placed on this measure. The district is compact, sits beside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2, and is minutes from the Creek crossings, so a student at a school inside the district or across in Dubai Festival City is frequently home in time for a 16:30 start. That is earlier than most Dubai neighbourhoods manage.

The arithmetic matters most for mathematics and the sciences, which degrade faster with fatigue than reading subjects do. Holding four steps of an algebraic rearrangement in working memory at 18:30, after a commute and a meal, is measurably harder than at 17:00. If you are paying the same rate either way, the later session is the more expensive one. We will recommend a shorter earlier session over a longer later one, which is less revenue and better value.

The counterpoint is for Al Jaddaf families whose children attend schools further out, in Nad Al Sheba or on the far side of Al Khail Road. Those students arrive home at the time their Al Jaddaf-schooled neighbours are starting, which converts a geographic advantage into a scheduling constraint. For them a weekend morning is the cheapest hour available, and it also widens the choice of tutor, because the weekday window from 17:00 to 19:00 Gulf Standard Time is the busiest in the UAE tutoring day.

A small operational point that saves money in households with two IGCSE candidates: schedule both sessions back to back on one evening. It keeps the rest of the week clear, keeps a parent supervising once rather than four times, and makes the arrangement survivable across a whole term, which is the thing most families underestimate when they buy.

07

Permits, regulators and the claims to price in

  • KHDA regulates Dubai schools; a rating judges the school, not any tutor
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free for two years, so permit cost cannot justify a rate
  • No fine schedule is published, so any quoted fine amount is unverified
  • A teacher should not be paid privately for students enrolled at their own school

Some of what you are quoted is a claim rather than a service, and the claims are checkable. Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described on u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. A KHDA inspection rating judges a school. It does not transfer to a tutor, and no tutoring provider inherits it. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson, and a KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation for training institutes with premises and staff that we do not hold.

Tutoring itself is regulated by permit, and this one you can ask about directly. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. The route is MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service, with no fee and a stated two-working-day completion time. Because it is free, a provider citing permit costs as a reason for a higher rate is citing a cost that does not exist.

Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, which is why no amount appears here and why any specific figure quoted to you should be treated as unverified. A figure circulating in this market could not be confirmed against any official source, and the ministry was reported as not having specified amounts.

One more boundary. An Al Jaddaf parent may be offered their child's own subject teacher privately. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. The person who sets and marks the school's assessments should not be separately paid by one family in the class, whatever the rate.

08

Getting started, and the cheapest first step

  • Send board, code, tier, series and two workable evening windows
  • One free trial lesson per student, with no payment or card details beforehand
  • Judge the match on the tutor's note, not on how the hour felt
  • Book the pre-series window early; the price is the same and the match is better

The cheapest first step is a diagnostic rather than a purchase. Send the board, the specification code, the tier and the series the entry is for, plus two evening windows that genuinely work from Al Jaddaf after the school run. We match a specification specialist and run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep. One trial per student, nothing charged beforehand, no card details required to book it, and the tutor writes a short note on what they found.

Judge the arrangement on that note. If it names a specific weakness and the evidence that would show it has moved, the match is sound and a short block with a stated endpoint is usually the right purchase. If the note is general, no amount of hours will fix the problem, because nobody has identified it. That is the test, and it costs you one free hour to run.

If no specialist is free in your window we say so, give a realistic wait, and offer the nearest honest alternative rather than placing whoever is available. Scarcity concentrates in Additional Mathematics 0606, in Pearson Specification B, and in the weeks immediately before a series when demand peaks across the whole market. Booking the pre-series window early costs the same and gets a better match, which is the only free improvement available in this process.

Two limits stated plainly. Nobody can promise a grade and this page does not. And nothing here implies that tutoring is required for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, for university admission or for school progression; those are regulatory and institutional processes with their own published rules, and the authority rather than a tutoring provider is where to verify them.

Where we tutor

Al Jaddaf and its neighbours: what the commute does to the cost of an hour

A late session delivers fewer usable minutes at the same price, so the commute is a cost factor and not just a convenience one. These are the districts we schedule around from Al Jaddaf.

Al Jaddaf

Residential towers beside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 and the Creek, with Swiss International Scientific School Dubai inside the district. Short journeys mean a 16:30 start is often achievable, which makes each paid hour more productive than in further-out districts.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront next door, sharing the same roads and school destinations. Cost behaviour is identical to Al Jaddaf, and families here frequently share bus routes with Al Jaddaf neighbours.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Across the water with no school inside the community, so students commute further and get home later. The same hourly rate therefore buys fewer usable minutes there than it does in Al Jaddaf.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Minutes away along the Creek with no large private secondary school in either district. Many Al Jaddaf parents work here and take the free trial lesson from an office before committing a family budget.

Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

A short run south, with Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai. The Al Khail Road stretch at the school-run hour pushes sessions towards 17:00 and reduces the usable fraction of the hour.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

Repton School Dubai, Kent College Dubai and GEMS Modern Academy. The longest routine commute from Al Jaddaf, and the cluster where a weekend morning is the cheapest hour available in real terms.

Dubai Festival City

Deira International School and Universal American School Dubai across the Creek. Short in distance, exposed to one crossing, so the cost risk is a single incident rather than a long journey.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Jaddaf

Al Jaddaf and across the Creek

The shortest-commute cluster for an Al Jaddaf family and therefore the one where an hour of tuition is worth most. International curricula sit side by side here, so two children in one household can be entered for two different boards in schools minutes apart, which is a budgeting complication as much as a teaching one.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Al Khail Road south

Sobha Hartland, Meydan and Nad Al Sheba, where British-curriculum IGCSE provision is strong. Al Jaddaf families enrolled here pay the same hourly rate for a less productive hour, because the student arrives home later, which is a reason to consider weekend scheduling rather than a reason to buy more hours.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Kent College Dubai
  • GEMS Modern Academy

Schools appear here only as context for the Al Jaddaf education market. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any school named, and none has reviewed this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Price the job, not the tier

Decide what the problem actually is before choosing a price band. Recall discipline and Core homework sit at the budget tier honestly. Extended technique and scheme-level marking need the middle tier. Only scarce subjects and compressed pre-series work justify specialist rates, and buying above the job is waste.

  2. 02

    Confirm the specification in writing

Board, code and tier: Cambridge 0580 Core or Extended, 0606, Pearson 4MA1 at Foundation or Higher, or 4MB1. A photograph of the statement of entry settles it, and it prevents a term of competent teaching aimed at an adjacent paper.

  3. 03

    Run one diagnostic paper first

A timed past paper on the exact code and tier, marked against the published scheme question by question. The marking writes the topic list, and it frequently shows the problem is unclaimed method or reverse percentages rather than a content gap, which is cheaper to fix.

  4. 04

Ask the invoice questions before the first session

Per hour or per lesson. VAT included or not. The cancellation window. Package expiry and rollover. Second-child pricing. None of these appear in a headline rate and all of them change the annual total, and all are easier to ask before money has moved.

  5. 05

Fix the earliest slot the commute allows

Al Jaddaf's short journeys often make 16:30 workable, which makes each paid hour more productive. If the school is further out, take a weekend morning instead: it is the cheapest hour in real terms and it widens the choice of specialist.

  6. 06

    Review against a measurable mark

At the school's next assessment, ask whether the targeted weakness moved. If nobody can point to a specific mark, the block ends rather than renewing. That single discipline prevents most of the money wasted in this market.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every figure sourced, dated and attributed

Each AED number on this page names the provider that published it and the month it was read. Three of the strongest pages in this market publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars, a currency Dubai families do not transact in.

No travel line, because no travel happens

IB Gram does not visit UAE addresses. The in-home premium of AED 180 to AED 500 per hour exists partly to recover a tutor's time on the Creek-side roads at five o'clock, and removing it also removes the constraint that your match must live near you.

We will tell you to buy a cheaper tier

For Core homework and recall discipline, budget online tutoring at AED 33 to AED 65 is genuinely adequate and buying a specialist would be reassurance rather than teaching. Recommending the cheaper option where it fits is the only way the expensive recommendation means anything.

Blocks with a stated endpoint

Six to eight sessions aimed at a named weakness, ending when the next school assessment shows movement. It is less revenue than an open weekly arrangement and better value, and it is what we recommend whenever the diagnostic points at technique.

Right about the equivalency rule

Five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus one Advanced Level at E or two Advanced Subsidiary Levels. A ranking competitor says six, and a family acting on that pays for a subject the rule does not require.

No regulator claims to pad the price

The MoHRE private tuition permit is free. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson approval. Any provider implying regulator endorsement or citing permit costs as a reason for a higher rate is charging you for something that is not there.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Jaddaf: your questions answered

How much more does an IGCSE home tutor in Al Jaddaf cost than an online one?+

On published figures, roughly a third to double. Visiting one-to-one rates in Dubai are quoted at AED 180 to AED 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to AED 500 by home-tutor providers, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150. Monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour sessions sit alongside AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Those figures were read in October 2026 and belong to the providers named.

What exactly am I paying for in a visiting tutor's hourly rate?+

Four things beyond the teaching. The tutor's unpaid travel time, recovered inside the billed hour. Route density, because a visiting tutor can only serve families whose homes cluster, so your match is constrained by their diary before it is constrained by your child's specification. Schedule rigidity, since a session delayed twenty minutes is a session shortened twenty minutes. And replacement cost, because a local substitute takes weeks to find. None of those four appears as a line on the invoice.

Is a cheap online tutor at AED 50 ever the right choice for IGCSE?+

Yes, for specific jobs. Budget online tutoring is advertised from AED 33 to AED 52 by Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 by EdFlik, which usually means someone who sat the subject recently. For unblocking a Core or Foundation homework problem, for Biology recall discipline, or for a Year 10 who needs structured company while working, that is adequate and paying four times more buys reassurance rather than teaching. For Extended technique or scheme-level marking it is not, and the limit is specificity rather than ability.

Should I ask whether the quoted price is per hour or per lesson?+

Always, because a fifty-minute lesson billed as an hour is a twenty per cent price increase hidden inside a definition. Ask for the session length in minutes alongside the rate. While you are there, ask whether VAT is included in the figure, what the cancellation notice window is, whether a monthly package expires or rolls over, and whether a second child in the same session is charged separately. None of those appears in a headline rate and all of them change the annual total.

What should a two-year IGCSE tutoring budget look like?+

Uneven rather than flat, and counted per subject. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly hour run roughly AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. A short diagnostic block in Year 10 costs little and prevents a lot. Weekly support belongs in the first half of Year 11 only where a genuine gap exists. The eight to twelve weeks before the series is the expensive window, so book it early.

What is the cost that catches families out after the June results?+

The November resit. It arrives unbudgeted at the end of an already expensive year and carries three costs: an entry made through the school's exam office, a compressed autumn of intensive tuition at the point when demand across the market is highest, and a results date in the new year rather than in August. Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Deciding in advance what June result would trigger a resit converts the surprise into a plan you have already priced.

Does the UAE private tutoring permit cost anything that would push rates up?+

No. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. A provider citing permit costs as a reason for a higher rate is citing a cost that does not exist, which is worth noticing.

How many IGCSE subjects do we actually need to pay for?+

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, the sourced rule is five accredited subjects at GCSE or IGCSE at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited Advanced Level subject at grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. One ranking competitor publishes six, and a family acting on that pays for a subject the rule does not require. Your school may require more for its own reasons; that is separate.

Will you supply past papers and mark schemes as part of the fee?+

No, and a provider who does is offering something a legitimate operation would not. Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables are copyright works, to be referenced and linked rather than redistributed. We work from the official source inside the session and show the student how to find the current document on the board's own site, which is a more durable skill: a student who can locate a syllabus can also check a claim a tutor has made.

Does an earlier session really get better value for the same money?+

Yes, and it is measurable in usable minutes. The real unit price is the rate divided by the fraction of the hour that works, and that fraction falls as the evening goes on. Al Jaddaf is well placed here: short journeys mean a student at a school inside the district or across the Creek is often home for a 16:30 start. Mathematics and the sciences degrade faster with fatigue than reading subjects do, so we will recommend a shorter earlier session over a longer later one.

What if we cancel a session at short notice?+

Ask for the policy in writing before the first lesson, because this is where a term's budget quietly inflates. A visiting tutor who has already travelled cannot resell the slot, so late cancellation is normally charged in full, and across a term with illness and school trips that becomes real money. An online session is easier to move, but a clear notice window should still be stated either way. A provider who will not put the cancellation terms in writing has told you something useful.

Can one tutor teach two of my children in the same session to save money?+

Sometimes, and it depends on how close the two are in specification and tier rather than in age. Two students on the same code and tier working on the same paper can share an hour productively. Two on different boards, or one on Core and one on Extended, cannot, and a shared session becomes two half sessions at full price. Ask how a second child is charged before assuming a saving. Scheduling two separate sessions back to back on one evening is usually the better arrangement.

Does IB Gram hold any KHDA authorisation, and would that justify a higher rate?+

No to both. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson. KHDA is Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority and is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate; it regulates and inspects schools, and an inspection rating judges a school rather than a tutor. A KHDA Educational Services Permit applies to training institutes with premises and staff. A provider implying regulator endorsement to justify a rate is selling a claim, not a service.

Should we be planning for a February or March IGCSE series in Dubai?+

No, and acting on that would waste a term. Cambridge's February and March series is offered in India only; UAE candidates sit the June and November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Several pages aimed at Gulf parents quote a February or March window with an Indian entry deadline, and a family budgeting intensive tuition towards it would be paying for revision before an exam their school cannot enter them for. Treat that quote as a reason to check everything else the provider has said.

How do I know whether the last block of tutoring was worth the money?+

Ask whether a specific mark moved, and insist on an answer at the school's next assessment. If the tutor can point to the weakness that was targeted and the evidence that it shifted, the block worked. If the answer is general improvement in confidence, the block did not, and renewing it will not change that. One timed paper marked to the published scheme before and after is the cheapest evaluation available, and it is the discipline that prevents most of the money wasted in this market.

Price the job, then run one free hour

If you are weighing an IGCSE home tutor in Al Jaddaf, start by deciding what the problem actually is, because the price band should follow the job rather than the other way round. Then send us the board, the specification code, the tier and the series, with two evening windows that work after the Al Jaddaf school run. We will match a specification specialist, run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep, and the tutor's note on what they found is the thing to judge us by. Lessons are one-to-one and online on Gulf Standard Time. Every AED figure on this page belongs to the provider named and was read in October 2026.
