IB Home Tutor in Al Jaddaf

The phrase IB home tutor in Al Jaddaf gets typed because a parent wants two things at once: someone who genuinely knows this programme, and someone who can be there. This page takes the first seriously. Knowing the IB means being able to name the assessment criteria for a specific Internal Assessment and the word limit on a Theory of Knowledge essay. Very few tutors within a short drive of Al Jaddaf can. IB Gram matches ones who can, one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Al Jaddaf

What "knows the IB" has to mean before you hire anyone

Every tutoring advertisement in Dubai says it covers the IB. The claim is almost never tested, and it is easy to test. Ask three questions. Which criteria is the Internal Assessment in this subject marked against, and how many marks does each carry? What is the word limit on the Theory of Knowledge essay, and what is the Theory of Knowledge exhibition commentary limit? How are the three core points awarded between the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge? A tutor who teaches the Diploma regularly answers all three without pausing. A strong general tutor who has read a syllabus summary does not.

This matters more in the IB than in a linear examined course, because a meaningful share of the grade in every subject is internally assessed against published criteria, and the core carries three points of its own. A tutor can be excellent at the physics and still be no use on the Internal Assessment, because the Internal Assessment is marked on personal engagement, exploration, analysis, evaluation and communication rather than on physics alone. That is the specific gap families in Al Jaddaf run into, and it shows up two months before a deadline.

On the home-tutoring question, the honest answer first. Home tuition in Dubai exists and is priced accordingly. Published in-home one-to-one rates run from AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's table and from AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online. Monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour sessions appear in the market. A noticeable share of that premium is the tutor's travel, and Al Jaddaf sits on a road network that funnels through Dubai Healthcare City, the Creek crossings and Al Khail Road.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Al Jaddaf or anywhere else in the UAE. Tuition for UAE families is delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time; sending tutors into homes is a service we run only in India. We state that before the price table rather than after it, because a family reading this deserves to know what they are choosing between. The argument for our model is not that it is cheaper. It is that an Al Jaddaf student needing a Chemistry Higher Level specialist with Internal Assessment experience gets one, rather than the best available tutor who can reach the building by five o'clock.

Al Jaddaf itself is a useful place to make this argument, because the neighbourhood is compact and its school options are not. Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits inside the district. The rest of the IB provision Al Jaddaf families use is spread across Dubai Festival City, Sobha Hartland, Nad Al Sheba and further out, which means households minutes apart are following different timetables and different subject combinations. No local tutor pool maps onto that spread.

The sections below give the things a parent can actually check: what each of the six subject groups demands, the word and page limits across the core components, where IB marks are lost in ways nobody warns about, what the regulators do and do not certify, and where the academic honesty line sits on an Extended Essay. No IB exam or results dates appear here, because the IB's own site blocks automated checking and an unverified date is worse than none.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Jaddaf families reach us at three points in the IB continuum, and the work differs sharply between them. These are the programmes we cover.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, normally three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus a core of the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Forty-two points come from the six subjects at a maximum of seven each, and up to three more from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge combination, for a maximum of 45.

UAE schools sit the main May session. No IB session or results date appears on this page: the IB's own website blocks automated checking, so no date in this project has been confirmed from the IB directly, and an unverified exam date is something a family would plan a term around. Your school's IB coordinator holds the authoritative calendar, including the internal deadlines for Extended Essay and Internal Assessment drafts, which matter more to a tutoring plan than the external dates do.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups, assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of eight and converted to a grade from one to seven using school boundaries. Most years carry no external examination, so the grade is built entirely from classroom tasks, and the Personal Project arrives in the final year.

In Dubai the mandatory UAE subjects run alongside this. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, calculating instructional time on a forty-minute lesson unit. Al Jaddaf families should count those periods into the week before adding evening commitments.

PYPAges 3-12 · Foundation to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

An inquiry-led framework rather than a content syllabus, with transdisciplinary units and an exhibition in the final year. Tutoring at this stage is about underlying literacy and numeracy fluency rather than about the programme itself, and short targeted blocks usually beat ongoing weekly arrangements.

The most useful request we get from Al Jaddaf primary families is bridging work for a child who has moved into an IB school from a different system mid-year, where the gap is usually in written fluency rather than in mathematics. A handful of sessions on writing stamina and reading comprehension does more than a term of general support.

COREAges 16-19 · Across both Diploma years

The Diploma core: EE, TOK and CAS

The Extended Essay is an independent research essay with a 4,000-word limit. Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title with a 1,600-word limit and an exhibition of three objects with a commentary limited to 950 words. Creativity, Activity, Service is not graded but must be completed for the Diploma to be awarded.

The core is where Al Jaddaf families most often ask for help and where the honesty line is tightest. A tutor may discuss a research question, explain what a criterion rewards, and comment on the student's own draft. A tutor may not produce the essay, restructure it to a standard, or supply the argument. Providers in this market sell completed Internal Assessments; that is an IB malpractice trigger and the consequence falls on the candidate.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IB subjects Al Jaddaf families ask for most. Each entry names what the subject actually assesses and the internally assessed component a tutor must know, because that is the component a general tutor cannot cover.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebra, functions, calculus technique and proof, with induction, complex numbers and the Maclaurin series at Higher Level. Paper 1 is sat without technology. The internally assessed Exploration is worth twenty per cent and is marked on presentation, communication, engagement, reflection and use of mathematics.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics, regression and hypothesis testing with a graphic display calculator permitted throughout. Marks shift from computation to justification: why this model, what the parameters mean, where it stops holding. The Exploration carries the same twenty per cent and the same five criteria.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, thermal physics, waves, electricity, magnetism, nuclear physics, and additional Higher Level content. The internally assessed investigation requires a student-designed experiment with uncertainty analysis, and the uncertainty treatment is where most marks are lost rather than in the physics.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry, atomic structure, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, redox and organic chemistry. The investigation is assessed on exploration, analysis, evaluation and communication, and a well-executed experiment with a thin evaluation section scores below a modest one fully evaluated.

Biology

HL and SL

Cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution and human physiology, with plant biology and additional systems at Higher Level. Data-based questions on unfamiliar material are the discriminator, and they reward students who read axes and units before reading the question.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy and introductory concepts. The internally assessed portfolio requires commentaries on published news articles applying a specific part of the syllabus, and the commonest failure is a commentary that summarises the article rather than analysing it with a diagram.

Business Management

HL and SL

Business organisation, human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with the Higher Level extension and a research project. Application to a real organisation decides the marks; generic theory earns knowledge credit and then stops.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Analysis of literary and non-literary texts, with Paper 1 guided analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, the individual oral and, at Higher Level, an essay. Students lose marks by describing a text's content rather than analysing how its choices create effect.

Theory of Knowledge

Core · all Diploma students

Assessed by an essay on a prescribed title, limited to 1,600 words, and an exhibition of three objects with a commentary limited to 950 words. The essay rewards engagement with the prescribed title as written, and the commonest failure is answering an adjacent question the student found easier.

The Extended Essay

Core · all Diploma students

An independent research essay in a chosen subject with a 4,000-word limit, supervised in school and assessed on focus and method, knowledge and understanding, critical thinking, presentation, and engagement. Research question scope decides the outcome before any writing happens.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Al Jaddaf families use IB tuition, all delivered online one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The choice depends on whether the problem is a subject, a component or the core.

Subject and level specialist, weekly

One hour a week with a tutor matched to one subject at one level, planned against the school's own teaching order. This is the format for a student following lessons but losing marks, and it leaves the internally assessed component enough runway to be done properly rather than in a rush.

  • Matched to the subject and level, not to the Diploma in general
  • Internal Assessment criteria experience confirmed before the match
  • A written note after each session naming the next piece of work
  • Pause a week for school assessments without losing the slot

Internal Assessment coaching

Short focused work on the internally assessed component in one subject, using the published criteria as the agenda. Topic and research-question scope come first, then criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft. Never writing, never restructuring, never supplying data or argument.

  • Scope narrowed until the investigation is finishable and evaluable
  • Each criterion explained in plain terms before the draft is written
  • Feedback on the student's own work, with a note of whose work it was
  • Referencing taught properly, which prevents most honesty cases

Core support: Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

Research-question work for the Extended Essay inside the 4,000-word limit, and prescribed-title analysis for the Theory of Knowledge essay inside 1,600 words. The school supervisor remains the supervisor; a tutor adds questions, criteria explanation and feedback, and nothing else.

  • Research question narrowed to something answerable in 4,000 words
  • Prescribed title read as written, not as the student wishes it read
  • Exhibition objects tested against the 950-word commentary limit
  • Reflection sessions prepared for, since they carry assessment weight

Home tutoring in Al Jaddaf: the honest version

Home tuition is a real market in Dubai with real prices, so here they are. Published in-home one-to-one rates run from AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's rate table and from AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers. Monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour sessions circulate in the market. Against that, a qualified subject tutor working online in Dubai is quoted at roughly AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors listing IB from AED 200. The gap is not a quality gap. A substantial part of it is the tutor's travel time.

For Al Jaddaf specifically, that travel is worth thinking about concretely. The district sits beside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 and the Creek, with access funnelling onto a small number of routes that also carry Festival City and Business Bay traffic in the late afternoon. A visiting tutor loses time getting in and time getting out, and both are priced into the hour whether the invoice itemises them or not. The second cost is invisible: the tutor has to be someone whose other families are also within reach, which narrows the pool before subject matching even begins.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Al Jaddaf or anywhere else in the UAE. Tuition for UAE families is one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time; home visiting is a service we operate only in India. That is a limit, not a feature we are pretending away. What it buys an Al Jaddaf family is specificity: a Chemistry Higher Level specialist who has marked the investigation against its four criteria, rather than the best tutor who can reach the building before five o'clock.

The table below sets the two formats against each other on the things that actually differ, including the ones that favour a home visit. There are some, and a family weighing this should see them.

02

The six subject groups, and the component a general tutor cannot cover

The Diploma is six subjects, normally three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, drawn from six groups: studies in language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and the arts. Forty-two of the forty-five points come from those six at a maximum of seven each. The remaining three come from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge together. That structure is why a tutoring plan built subject by subject can still miss three points entirely.

Within each subject there is an internally assessed component, and that is the part a strong general tutor typically cannot teach. In mathematics it is the Exploration, worth twenty per cent. In the sciences it is a student-designed investigation assessed on exploration, analysis, evaluation and communication. In economics it is a portfolio of commentaries on published articles. In business management it is a research project. In language and literature it is the individual oral. Each is marked against published criteria that have very little to do with raw subject knowledge.

So the test for an Al Jaddaf family is narrow and easy to apply. Ask a prospective tutor to name the criteria for the internally assessed component in the subject you need, and roughly what each is worth. A tutor who teaches the subject regularly answers immediately. A tutor who does not will talk about the subject instead, which is the moment to keep looking. This single question filters more effectively than any qualification list.

The table sets out what each group assesses internally, because it is the part school information evenings cover least and the part a tutor is most often hired too late to help with.

Word and page limits across the IB, in one place

This is a table nobody in the UAE tutoring market publishes, and it is among the most practically useful things a Diploma parent can have. Limits matter because exceeding them has consequences, and because a student who knows the limit before starting plans differently from one who discovers it with a first draft already written. The Extended Essay is limited to 4,000 words. The Theory of Knowledge essay is limited to 1,600 words. The Theory of Knowledge exhibition commentary is limited to 950 words across three objects.

The practical point is about scope rather than counting. A research question that cannot be answered in 4,000 words is the single commonest Extended Essay failure, and it is visible at the question stage, months before the word count becomes a problem. A student who chose a question needing 9,000 words to do justice spends the final weeks cutting argument rather than improving it, and the criteria reward focus and method heavily. Two hours of question-narrowing work at the start is worth more than twenty hours of editing at the end.

The Theory of Knowledge essay has a different failure shape. The prescribed title is set by the IB and must be answered as written. Students repeatedly answer an adjacent question they find more interesting, and the essay reads well while scoring poorly, because engagement with the title as written is what the criteria ask for. One session spent taking a prescribed title apart clause by clause prevents that outcome entirely.

Where a subject's internally assessed component has its own length guidance, your school's subject teacher holds the current figure, and we work from what they give rather than from a remembered number. The IB revises guidance, and a tutor quoting last cycle's limits is a liability. Everything in the table below is a published limit for the core components; for subject-specific guidance, the teacher is the source.

IB CORE COMPONENTS — PUBLISHED LIMITS AND WHAT THEY IMPLY

04

Where IB marks are lost in ways nobody warns about

  • Thin evaluation sections cost more marks than weak experiments do
  • Reflection belongs throughout an investigation, not in a closing paragraph
  • Command terms are tiered and published; one session on them transfers across subjects
  • Predicted grades come from school evidence, so internal assessments carry real stakes

Ask an Al Jaddaf parent why a predicted grade slipped and the answer is usually about workload. Ask the criteria and the answer is often narrower and more fixable. Across subjects, the same four leaks recur: an internally assessed component started too late to be evaluated properly, command terms answered at the wrong level, data-based questions attempted without reading the axes, and reflection treated as a closing paragraph rather than as something present throughout.

The evaluation leak is the biggest. In the sciences, a student runs a competent experiment, presents clean data, and writes three lines of evaluation. The criteria award evaluation substantial weight, so a modest experiment thoroughly evaluated outscores an impressive one barely discussed. The same shape appears in the mathematics Exploration, where reflection carries its own criterion and is routinely added at the end instead of appearing at each decision point. Neither is a knowledge problem and neither takes long to fix once named.

Command terms are the second. The IB publishes them, and they are tiered: state, describe, explain, analyse, evaluate, discuss. A student who describes when the question said evaluate has written something true and unmarkable. One session with the command term list and three past questions usually moves marks more than a month of content review, and it transfers across every subject the student takes.

The third is the predicted grade mechanism, which Al Jaddaf families often misunderstand. Predicted grades come from the school, based on the school's evidence, and university offers rest on them. That means the school's internal assessments matter in their own right, not merely as practice. A student treating a December internal paper as a mock has misread the stakes, and a tutoring plan that peaks only in the spring arrives after the predictions have been made.

05

Al Jaddaf's school pattern, and why no local pool matches it

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai is the IB provision inside Al Jaddaf itself
  • Other IB schools used by Al Jaddaf families sit across the Creek or south on Al Khail Road
  • Dubai 2024-25: 227 private schools, 387,441 students, IB at 7% of enrolment
  • Three of seven new schools for the 2026-27 intake are IB; KHDA froze fees on 22 May 2026
  • Give the tutor the school's internal deadline calendar in the first week

Al Jaddaf is small and its school options are not contained within it. Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits inside the district, running IB programmes alongside a bilingual model. Everything else Al Jaddaf families use is elsewhere: Dubai Festival City across the Creek, Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City south along Al Khail Road, Nad Al Sheba beyond that. Families living in adjacent towers can therefore be following different timetables, different subject combinations and different internal deadline calendars.

That spread is the structural reason a local tutor pool does not match local demand. A pool bounded by a practical drive from Al Jaddaf might serve one school's subject mix well and another's poorly, and no tutor can specialise in six subjects across three schools' internal calendars. The Diploma makes this sharper than other curricula do, because the internally assessed components are subject-specific and the core components are supervised in school, so a tutor has to work alongside one school's deadlines rather than a national timetable.

There is a Dubai-level context worth having. KHDA reported 227 private schools serving 387,441 students in 2024-25 across seventeen curricula, with the International Baccalaureate at seven per cent of enrolment against thirty-seven per cent on UK curricula. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, three of them IB, creating 16,846 places, and KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not rise for that academic year. The IB share is growing from a small base, which is precisely why specialist supply lags locally.

For a family in Al Jaddaf the practical conclusion is unexciting and useful. Choose on subject, level and internal-assessment experience, treat geography as solved by live video, and get the school's own internal deadline calendar into the tutor's hands in the first week.

06

The academic honesty line, drawn where the IB draws it

  • Submitted work must be the student's own; a finding of malpractice can cost a Diploma
  • Criteria marking, criterion explanation, modelled evaluation and referencing are all legitimate
  • Board and IB documents are linked from official sites, never reproduced or supplied
  • A session note records whose work was in front of us at each session

The IB's academic honesty rules are stricter than most families expect and the consequences land on the student. Work submitted for assessment must be the student's own. A tutor who writes, completes, substantially rewrites or supplies any part of an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay, Internal Assessment or Personal Project is creating a malpractice exposure for the candidate, and a finding can cost a Diploma. There are providers in this market advertising completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price. That is not a shortcut; it is a risk transferred onto a sixteen-year-old.

The legitimate version of help is more useful than the illegitimate version anyway. A tutor can take a student's own draft and mark it against the published criteria. A tutor can explain what a criterion is asking for when the wording is opaque, which is frequently. A tutor can model an evaluation or a reflection on an unrelated investigation, then hand the student's own back untouched. A tutor can teach referencing properly, which prevents more honesty cases than any warning does, because most cases begin as citation failures rather than as deliberate cheating.

On materials, IB, Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables are copyright works. We reference and link the official sources; we do not reproduce them or supply them as downloads. In sessions we show a student how to find the current document on the organisation's own site, which also means they can check a claim a tutor has made, including ours.

Practically, we keep a short session note recording what was covered and whose work was in front of us. If a school ever raises a question about work a tutor was involved in, a parent can hand that note over. Transparency costs nothing in advance and is the only thing worth having afterwards.

07

Permits, regulators and getting started from Al Jaddaf

  • KHDA regulates Dubai schools and does not approve tutors or tutoring platforms
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free for two years, applied for directly through MoHRE
  • Send subject, level, the component in progress, its school deadline and two windows
  • One free trial lesson per student, with no payment or card details beforehand

Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described on u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. A KHDA inspection rating is a judgement about a school. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson, and a KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation for training institutes with premises and staff that we do not hold. Any provider implying regulator endorsement is making a claim worth checking first.

Tutoring is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit came in under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service, listed with no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without a permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and because no fine schedule is published, no amount is quoted here.

To start, send the subject and level, which internally assessed component is in progress, the school's internal deadline for it, and two evening windows that genuinely work from Al Jaddaf after the school run. We match a subject specialist, run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep, and give you a plan afterwards. One trial per student, nothing charged beforehand, and no card details required to book it.

If no specialist is free we say so, give a realistic wait, and offer the nearest honest alternative rather than placing whoever is available. Scarcity concentrates in Higher Level sciences and in the weeks when internal deadlines cluster. Finally, the limits: nobody can promise a grade and this page does not, and nothing here implies tutoring is required for Diploma award, for university admission or for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, which are processes with their own published rules to verify with the authority.

Where we tutor

Al Jaddaf and the districts its IB families actually live and travel across

Al Jaddaf is compact, sits beside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 and the Creek, and is minutes from districts with entirely different school patterns. These are the neighbourhoods we schedule around.

Al Jaddaf

Residential towers alongside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, with Swiss International Scientific School Dubai inside the district. Short journeys mean a 16:30 session start is often genuinely achievable.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront, directly adjacent and sharing the same Creek-side roads and school destinations. Scheduling behaves identically to Al Jaddaf, and families frequently share the same bus routes.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Across the water on the Ras Al Khor side, with no school inside the community. Creek Harbour students commute to the same clusters Al Jaddaf students use, but take longer to get home.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Minutes away along the Creek, with no large private secondary school in either district. Many Al Jaddaf parents work here, which is why trial lessons are often taken from an office before a family slot is fixed.

Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

North London Collegiate School Dubai and Hartland International School sit a short run south. The Al Khail Road stretch at the school-run hour is the main constraint on an early session.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

GEMS Modern Academy and neighbouring schools. A longer run from Al Jaddaf than the Creek crossing, and the cluster where a weekend morning session is worth considering.

Dubai Festival City

Universal American School Dubai and Deira International School sit across the Creek. A short hop in distance, exposed to a single crossing, so one incident reshapes the evening.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

A mixed school and industrial district further west, relevant to Al Jaddaf households running two children on two curricula. The issue there is sequencing two sessions rather than teaching either.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Jaddaf

Al Jaddaf and the Creek crossing

Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits inside Al Jaddaf itself, running IB programmes alongside a bilingual model. Across the Creek, Dubai Festival City holds the nearest additional international provision. For an Al Jaddaf family this is the shortest-commute cluster and therefore the one where an early evening session is realistic.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Sobha Hartland, Meydan and Nad Al Sheba

The corridor south of Al Jaddaf along Al Khail Road, where several schools run IB Diploma and Middle Years provision. Al Jaddaf families enrolled here face the school-run hour in both directions, which is the main reason their sessions land after 17:00 rather than before it.

  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Hartland International School
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Kent College Dubai

Schools appear here only as context for the Al Jaddaf education market. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any school named, and none has reviewed this page.

  1. 01

Test the IB claim in one question

Ask any prospective tutor to name the criteria for the internally assessed component in your child's subject and roughly what each is worth. A tutor who teaches it regularly answers at once. One who does not will talk about the subject instead, and that is the moment to keep looking.

  2. 02

Send the subject, the level and the component

Which subject, Higher or Standard Level, which internally assessed component is in progress, and the school's internal deadline for it. Those four facts decide the match. The school's internal calendar matters more to a tutoring plan than the external session date does.

  3. 03

Fix a slot the Al Jaddaf commute allows

Tell us the school and the genuine time the student is home. Al Jaddaf's short journeys often make 16:30 achievable, which is earlier than most Dubai districts manage. If the school is in Nad Al Sheba, expect 17:15 and consider a weekend morning instead.

  4. 04

    Run one free trial lesson

Live and one-to-one in the slot you intend to keep, so you are testing the real arrangement rather than a demonstration. One per student, no payment taken beforehand, no card details required. The tutor writes a short note on what they found and what they would address first.

  5. 05

Put the internal deadlines in the plan first

Build the term around the school's internal deadlines for Internal Assessments, Extended Essay drafts and Theory of Knowledge submissions, then fit content work around them. A plan that peaks only before the external session arrives after predicted grades have been made.

  6. 06

Review at the next school assessment

The school's own internal assessment is the checkpoint, and it also feeds the predicted grade. If marks have not moved where the plan predicted, the plan changes or the tutor does, and replacement inside the same week is possible because the match was never bounded by a drive.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The internal assessment is part of the match, not an afterthought

We confirm a tutor has experience of the published criteria for the component your child is working on before the match is made. That is the part a strong general tutor typically cannot cover, and it is where families in Al Jaddaf most often discover the gap too late.

Honest about home visits

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Al Jaddaf or anywhere in the UAE, and we say it before the price comparison rather than after. Home tuition is a real option at AED 180 to AED 500 per hour in this market; we are not it, and we set out what each format gives you.

A pool that matches Al Jaddaf's school spread

Al Jaddaf families attend schools inside the district, across the Creek and south on Al Khail Road, with different subject mixes and different internal calendars. No pool bounded by a drive matches that spread. A national one does, and live video is what reaches it.

Limits and criteria, written down

The Extended Essay at 4,000 words, the Theory of Knowledge essay at 1,600, the exhibition commentary at 950. Subject-specific guidance comes from your child's teacher, because the IB revises it and a tutor quoting last cycle's figures is a liability rather than an expert.

No dates we could not verify

No IB session or results date appears on this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so nothing in this project has been confirmed from the IB directly, and an unverified exam date is something a family would plan a whole term around. Your school's coordinator is the source.

The honesty line stated before work begins

Feedback on the student's own draft, criteria explained, evaluation modelled on unrelated material, referencing taught properly. Never writing, never restructuring to a standard, never supplying argument or data. We keep a session note of whose work was in front of us.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Jaddaf: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor who visits our apartment in Al Jaddaf?+

From some Dubai agencies, yes. Published in-home one-to-one rates run from AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's table and from AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers, with monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour sessions appearing in the market. IB Gram is not among them. We deliver one-to-one tuition for UAE families online over live video on Gulf Standard Time and send no tutors to UAE addresses; home visiting is a service we run only in India.

How can I tell whether a tutor really knows the IB or just says so?+

Ask three questions before hiring. Which criteria is the internally assessed component in this subject marked against, and roughly what is each worth? What is the word limit on the Theory of Knowledge essay and on the exhibition commentary? How are the three core points awarded between the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge? Someone who teaches the Diploma regularly answers all three without pausing. A strong general tutor who has read a syllabus summary will redirect the conversation to the subject itself, which is your answer.

What is the word limit on the Extended Essay and does it really matter?+

Four thousand words, and it matters at the question stage rather than at the editing stage. The commonest Extended Essay failure is a research question too broad to answer in that space, chosen months before the limit becomes a practical problem. The criteria reward focus and method heavily, so a student cutting argument in the final weeks is losing marks that better question-framing would have protected. Two hours spent narrowing the question at the start is worth more than twenty hours of editing at the end.

How many points is the IB core worth, and how are they awarded?+

Up to three of the forty-five. Forty-two points come from the six subjects at a maximum of seven each, and the remaining three come from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge assessed together through a published matrix. Creativity, Activity, Service is not graded but must be completed for the Diploma to be awarded. The practical consequence is that two written components, with no examination to recover them, carry three points, and a plan built subject by subject can miss them entirely.

Which Theory of Knowledge mistake costs students the most marks?+

Answering an adjacent question rather than the prescribed title as written. The titles are set by the IB and the criteria reward engagement with the title itself, so an essay that reads well while addressing a neighbouring question scores poorly and the student cannot see why. The fix is a single session taking the title apart clause by clause before any writing begins. The essay limit is 1,600 words and the exhibition commentary is limited to 950 words across three objects.

Why does my child's science Internal Assessment score lower than the experiment deserved?+

Almost always because the evaluation section is thin. The criteria for a scientific investigation cover exploration, analysis, evaluation and communication, and evaluation carries substantial weight. A competent experiment with clean data and three lines of evaluation scores below a modest experiment whose limitations, anomalies and improvements are discussed properly. It is not a knowledge problem and it does not take long to fix once it has been named, which is why starting the component early matters more than working harder on the practical.

Are IB predicted grades from the school, and do they matter as much as people say?+

Yes to both. Predicted grades come from the school, based on the school's own evidence, and university offers rest on them. That means internal assessments carry real stakes in their own right rather than functioning as practice. An Al Jaddaf family whose tutoring plan peaks in the spring arrives after the predictions have been made. If university applications are in view, the internal assessment calendar is the one to plan around, and your school's coordinator holds it.

Which IB school is actually inside Al Jaddaf?+

Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits inside the district, running IB programmes alongside a bilingual model. Beyond that, Al Jaddaf families use schools elsewhere: Universal American School Dubai and Deira International School across the Creek in Dubai Festival City, and North London Collegiate School Dubai, Hartland International School and GEMS Modern Academy south along Al Khail Road. KHDA reported the IB at seven per cent of Dubai private enrolment in 2024-25. Schools are named as market context only, with no affiliation implied.

What time can lessons start for a student living in Al Jaddaf?+

Earlier than in most Dubai districts, which is a genuine advantage. Al Jaddaf's journeys are short, so a student at a school inside the district or across the Creek in Festival City is often home in time for a 16:30 start. A student travelling to Sobha Hartland sits better at 17:00, and one commuting to Nad Al Sheba at 17:15 or later. Pick the slot for your worst normal weekday rather than your best, because the co-curricular fixture is what breaks a weekly arrangement.

Does IB Gram have IB accreditation or KHDA approval?+

No. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the International Baccalaureate, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson. KHDA is Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority, responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate; it regulates and inspects schools, and an inspection rating judges a school rather than any tutor. A KHDA Educational Services Permit applies to training institutes with premises and staff. Treat any claim of regulator endorsement as a reason to check further.

Does the tutor need a UAE permit, and what should I ask about it?+

An individual providing private tutoring in the UAE needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service, with no fee and a stated two working days. Ask for the permit category. No fine schedule is published, so any quoted fine amount is unverified.

Why does this page not list the IB exam and results dates?+

Because they could not be verified from the IB itself, whose website blocks automated checking. An unverified exam date on a landing page is something a family might plan a term of revision around, and publishing it would be worse than leaving it out. UAE schools sit the main May session. For every date that matters, including internal Extended Essay and Internal Assessment deadlines, your school's IB coordinator holds the authoritative calendar, and those internal dates shape a tutoring plan more than the external ones do.

Can a tutor help my child with the Extended Essay without breaking the rules?+

Yes, within a clear boundary. A tutor may help narrow a research question so it is answerable in 4,000 words, explain what a criterion rewards, ask questions that expose a weak argument, and give feedback on the student's own draft. A tutor may not produce the essay, restructure it to a standard, or supply the argument. The school supervisor remains the supervisor. Providers in this market sell completed assessments outright, which is a malpractice trigger whose consequence lands on the candidate rather than the seller.

Can one tutor support several IB subjects for the same student?+

Sometimes, and we would not aim for it. The internally assessed components differ by subject and are marked against different criteria, so a tutor strong in two subjects may be strong in only one component. Where one specialist genuinely covers both at the right level, the scheduling saving for an Al Jaddaf family is real. Where they do not, two exact matches beat one approximate one, and the difference usually appears in whichever internally assessed component the tutor was weaker on.

What happens if no IB specialist is available in our Al Jaddaf time slot?+

We tell you, give a realistic wait, and offer the nearest honest alternative rather than placing whoever is free. Scarcity concentrates in Higher Level sciences and in the weeks when internal assessment deadlines cluster across schools, which is also when demand peaks. The alternatives are a different slot, a shorter commitment with a specialist whose availability is limited, or command-term and technique work while the subject slot is pending. Weekend mornings widen the choice more than any other scheduling change.

Ask the three questions, then send us four facts

If you are looking for an IB home tutor in Al Jaddaf, test the IB claim first: ask any prospective tutor for the internal assessment criteria, the Theory of Knowledge word limits, and how the three core points are awarded. Then send us the subject, the level, the component in progress and its school deadline, with two evening windows that work after the Al Jaddaf school run. We will match a specialist whose internal assessment experience we have checked, run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep, and build the plan around your school's internal calendar. Lessons are one-to-one and online on Gulf Standard Time.
