IGCSE Classes in Dubai

Nearly every page selling IGCSE classes in Dubai declines to publish a price. Three of the six best-ranked competitors in this search show no figure at all, and two of the three that do quote in US dollars - a currency no Dubai family pays in. This page does the opposite: the AED bands providers actually advertise, what moves them, what group classes really save, and the extras that appear on an invoice after you have committed. Lessons are one-to-one over live video.

  • Every AED figure attributed to the provider that published it
  • Group and one-to-one costs compared per student, not per session
  • Extras, cancellation and payment terms listed before you ask
  • Free trial lesson, with no card details taken to book it

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The price question, answered rather than deflected

A Dubai parent researching IGCSE support meets a strange wall. The pages ranking for this search are detailed about pedagogy and silent about money. One of the best-written competitor pages in the set has a frequently-asked-questions block that asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer it. Another quotes a price in its structured data that contradicts the price in its own body copy. A third prices in US dollars for a market that transacts in dirhams. The effect is that parents end up phoning five providers to assemble a range that could have been published on a page.

So here is the range. Budget online tutoring and university-student tutors are advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik listing from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52. Qualified subject tutors working online sit broadly between AED 150 and 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home one-to-one visits, with travel built in, run from about AED 180 to 500, with Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table putting them at AED 180-350 and independent home tutors advertising AED 200-500. Dedicated IGCSE, IB and A Level specialists are quoted at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase listing AED 270. Premium named tutors go higher again, with BartyED advertising AED 650.

Those are other organisations' published figures, with the source named, and they are the market rather than our price list. Monthly packages circulate too: around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support.

Knowing the range is only half of a buying decision. The other half is knowing what moves a number inside it, because the same subject at the same level can be quoted at AED 150 and AED 450 by two people who both believe they are being reasonable. Tier, specification familiarity, examiner experience, session length, commitment length, travel, format and timing all move it. So does urgency: a family calling six weeks before a June series is negotiating from a weak position and should know that before they call.

IB Gram delivers UAE tuition as one-to-one lessons over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We do not run group classes at a venue in Dubai and we do not send tutors to UAE addresses - in-home tutoring is a service we operate only in India. That matters to the cost conversation in a specific way: the travel component that pushes in-home rates to the AED 180-500 band is not in the price, and the tutor is matched to the specification rather than to the half-hour radius around your community.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost varies by stage more than parents expect, because the scarcity of tutors who have taught a specific paper changes with the level. These are the four stages Dubai families buy.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Years 7 to 9, before IGCSE begins

The cheapest stage to buy and the one most often skipped. Rates sit at the lower end of every published band because the content is widely taught and the tutor pool is deep. The work here is algebraic fluency, scientific writing and reading stamina, assessed through Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests offered in March, May and October.

In Dubai this is where a relocating student's gap first becomes visible, and where fixing it is least expensive. A Year 9 arriving from another system who is drilled on written-examination convention for one term rarely needs the intensive Year 11 package that the same student would otherwise buy two years later at three times the hourly rate.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10 IGCSE, Core and Extended

Mid-band pricing, and the stage with the best return per dirham because there is time for the work to compound. Buying one session a week through Year 10 generally costs less in total than buying three a week through the spring of Year 11, and it produces the tier evidence that protects sixth-form options.

Dubai schools typically fix tier entries during or at the end of Year 10. Families who spend here are buying a decision as much as a grade, since Core and Foundation entries cap the grade available and that ceiling is read by A Level and IB Diploma admissions two years later.

Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11 and the exam-term intensive

The most expensive stage, for two reasons that have nothing to do with teaching quality. Demand concentrates into January through April, and specialists with a free evening slot in February are scarce. Specialist IGCSE rates in the AED 200-450 band are quoted most often for exactly this window.

Dubai mock seasons in November and late February drive two demand spikes. Booking a regular slot in September costs less than buying the same slot in February, and any provider telling you otherwise has not looked at their own diary. Rates do tighten closer to exams, which is a supply fact rather than a sales tactic.

RESITAges 16-18 · Year 12 and beyond

Retake and grade-lift blocks

Short, narrow and usually the best-value purchase available, because the problem is normally technique on one paper rather than a missing syllabus. A six-week block on specific question types costs a fraction of a two-year engagement and often does the required job.

The deadlines sit before the information. Pearson's International GCSE November series ran its final timetable from late October to 19 November 2026, and Cambridge's own entries for a June series close in the spring, months ahead of the papers, with the exact date set per series and per timetable zone and issued by the school as the centre. Budget for the entry fee at the chosen centre as well as the tuition.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subjects do not cost the same, and the reason is supply rather than difficulty. Each note says roughly where a subject sits in the market band and how many hours families typically end up buying.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 · Edexcel 4MA1

The deepest tutor pool in Dubai and therefore the most competitive pricing, generally available across the full published range. Families typically buy one weekly hour through Year 10 and two through Year 11. The large recoverable loss is unwritten method, which is cheap to fix and does not need a premium tutor.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Edexcel 4PH1

Mid to upper band. Fewer tutors are genuinely comfortable with the Alternative to Practical paper than claim to be, and that paper is where a meaningful share of marks sits. Ask about it explicitly before agreeing a rate; it is the fastest way to tell a specialist from a generalist.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Edexcel 4CH1

Mid to upper band, with demand concentrated in the spring of Year 11 around moles, electrolysis and organic pathways. Students usually need fewer hours than they fear, because the losses cascade from one or two specific skills rather than spreading across the syllabus.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Edexcel 4BI1

Mid band with good availability. The hours go on command-term discipline rather than content, which means a shorter engagement than parents budget for. A student losing marks by describing where the paper asked them to explain does not need a term of re-teaching.

Additional Mathematics and Further Pure Mathematics

Single tier

The clearest scarcity premium in the IGCSE market. Few tutors in any one part of Dubai have taught these specifications, so rates sit at the specialist end and availability is the binding constraint rather than price. This is also where online matching changes the answer completely.

English as a First Language

Cambridge 0500 · Edexcel 4EA1

Wide pool, wide price range, and the greatest variation in actual usefulness. A tutor who teaches writing well is not the same as one who teaches the mark tariffs on the summary and directed-writing tasks, and only the second moves an IGCSE grade. Ask which they do.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Lower to mid band with strong availability in Dubai. The efficient purchase is short and structural: recognising each reading task's fixed shape within the first ten seconds. Students transferred between 0510 and 0500 mid-course need more hours, and should be priced accordingly.

Business Studies and Economics

Cambridge 0450 and 0455 · Edexcel 4BS1 and 4EC1

Mid band, and unusually efficient to buy. Application and evaluation habits are teachable in a handful of sessions, and diagram conventions in Economics can be drilled out in two. Families frequently over-buy here because the subjects feel content-heavy.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

Upper band because of a supply quirk: tutors who can program are plentiful, tutors who can teach the board's pseudocode convention and trace-table method are not. Verify the second rather than the first before agreeing a rate.

Geography and History

Cambridge 0460 and 0470 · Edexcel equivalents

Mid band, with hours concentrated on source interrogation and the extended response rather than case-study recall. A short engagement that installs a fixed reading order for resource questions generally outperforms a long one spent revising content.

Arabic as a First or Additional Language

First-language and additional-language routes

Mid to upper band and tight on availability in the evening slots Dubai families want. KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students, so demand is structural rather than seasonal.

Combined and Co-ordinated Sciences

Core and Extended routes

Lower to mid band. The cheapest useful hour in the whole set is often the one spent marking the specification against the student's revision list, because scope confusion here wastes more time than any content gap does.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, with the cost logic of each stated plainly. All are delivered as live video sessions; IB Gram runs no Dubai venue and no home visits anywhere in the UAE.

One-to-one, weekly

The default, and the format all the published specialist rates refer to. The whole hour belongs to one student, which is why it costs what it costs. For a student with specific, diagnosed losses it is the only format where every minute is spent on their losses rather than on somebody else's.

  • Entire session directed by the student's own error log
  • Session length adjustable to 45 or 60 minutes at the same hourly basis
  • No travel component in the price
  • Trial lesson free, with no card details required

Paired sessions for siblings or classmates

Two students at the same specification, tier and roughly the same standing, sharing a session. The per-student cost falls materially, and the trade is honest: each student gets roughly half the direct attention. It works well for paper technique and timed practice, and poorly for two students with different gaps.

  • Per-student cost materially below one-to-one
  • Works when both students share the specification and the weakness
  • Poor value when the two need different topics
  • Both families see the same session note

Short diagnostic or post-mortem block

A one-off or three-session purchase built around a marked mock paper. The output is a ranked list of what is costing marks and a plan a parent can act on independently. Many families buy only this, which is a reasonable use of money and we are content to say so.

  • Fixed, small and predictable in cost
  • Deliverable is a written ranked diagnosis
  • No commitment to a term follows from it
  • Often the correct purchase when funds are limited

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What the Dubai market charges, by provider model

The useful comparison is not between brands but between business models, because the model explains the price. A marketplace that matches you to a university student has a different cost base from an agency that recruits qualified subject teachers, and both differ from a tuition centre carrying premises, a licence and staff in Dubai. A freelance tutor driving to your community is pricing their car and their evening as well as their teaching.

The table sets these out with the AED bands each model advertises and the source of the figure. Everything in it is another organisation's published rate, named and dated to October 2026. None of it is IB Gram's price list, and a provider that quotes you a number should be able to tell you what it includes, how long the session is, and whether the figure is per hour or per lesson - those are three different questions and they are frequently conflated.

Two patterns are worth noticing. The first is that the in-home band carries a visible travel premium: Bestimate puts in-home visits at AED 180-350 and independent home tutors advertise AED 200-500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified tutor working online. The second is that the top of the market is defined by scarcity rather than by format - a specialist in a thinly taught specification commands AED 200-450 or more whether they are on a screen or in a room.

What this means practically is that comparing two quotes requires normalising them first. Per hour or per lesson. Sixty minutes or fifty. Travel included or added. Materials included or billed. One subject or two. Cancellation terms. A quote of AED 200 that is a fifty-minute lesson with a two-session cancellation notice is not cheaper than AED 220 for a full hour with twenty-four hours' notice, and most families never get far enough into the detail to see that.

Group classes against one-to-one: the arithmetic nobody writes down

Group classes look like obvious value and sometimes are. The honest way to compare them is per student per hour of direct attention, not per student per hour of elapsed time, because those two numbers diverge sharply as the group grows. In a class of six, a student receives on average ten minutes of individual attention in an hour. At AED 80 a head that is good value if the content is genuinely new to all six, and poor value if five of them are there for a different reason than your child.

The deciding question is whether the students share the problem. A group works when everyone is meeting a topic for the first time: a new unit, a shared syllabus gap, a timed-paper practice session where the clock does the teaching. A group fails when the members have different error patterns, because the tutor has to choose whose problem to address, and your child's problem may not be chosen.

This is also where diagnosis pays for itself. A parent who knows their child is losing marks to unwritten method and timing does not need a group class on electrolysis, however cheap it is. A parent with no diagnosis buys whatever is on offer and hopes some of it lands. The hour spent getting a marked script read properly changes which product you should buy, and often saves more than it costs.

The table below sets the formats side by side. IB Gram's own arrangement is one-to-one or paired over live video - we do not run group classes at a Dubai venue - so the group rows are included as market context rather than as something we sell. They are genuinely the right answer for some families, and saying so is more useful than pretending otherwise.

03

What actually moves the number inside the band

Two tutors can quote AED 150 and AED 400 for the same subject and level and both be pricing rationally. The variables are visible once named, and knowing them turns a quote from a mystery into a negotiation you can hold up your end of.

Scarcity dominates. A tutor who has actually taught Cambridge Additional Mathematics or Edexcel Further Pure Maths is rare in any one part of Dubai, and rarity sets the price regardless of format. Tier matters next: Extended and Higher work commands more than Core and Foundation because fewer tutors are secure in the extension content. Timing matters third, and it is the one families control least well - a February slot in a Year 11 exam run costs more than the same slot booked in September, because by February the diaries are full.

Then there are the structural variables. Session length, since a fifty-minute 'hour' is common and should be asked about. Commitment length, since a term booked up front usually prices below a rolling week. Travel, which is the whole difference between the AED 150-300 online band and the AED 180-500 in-home band. Whether materials are included. Whether a second subject with the same tutor attracts a different rate. And urgency, which is a real factor and an uncomfortable one.

The table below sets out the direction each factor pushes and roughly how far. Treat the magnitudes as a guide to the shape of a quote rather than as measured figures, because they are drawn from the published bands rather than from a survey with a sample size behind it.

The extras that appear after you have committed

  • Ask for every charge in writing before the first paid session
  • Confirm the session length in minutes, not as 'an hour'
  • Get the cancellation and rescheduling terms as a number of hours
  • Ask whether the quoted figure includes VAT and keep the answer

The headline rate is rarely the whole invoice, and the gap between them is where most of the dissatisfaction in this market lives. None of the following is dishonest in itself; the problem is that they are usually disclosed at the point of billing rather than the point of decision.

Registration or matching fees, charged once at the start by some agencies. Materials and printing, where a provider supplies workbooks. Assessment or diagnostic fees charged separately from the first lesson. Late-cancellation charges, which vary from twenty-four hours' notice to a full session forfeited, and which matter enormously in a city where a school fixture can move with a day's notice. Rescheduling limits per month. Minimum commitment terms, which can mean a term's notice to stop. Peak-season surcharges in the exam run. Travel surcharges on in-home arrangements for outlying communities. And payment-method differences, where a card payment carries a fee that a bank transfer does not.

The right move is to ask for all of it in writing before the first paid session, in one message with numbered questions. A provider who answers crisply has thought about it. A provider who answers in generalities will be answering in generalities when there is a dispute. This is not a sign of bad faith on their part so much as a sign that the terms do not exist in a form anyone can read, which amounts to the same thing in practice.

On VAT specifically, the only safe position is to ask whether a quoted figure includes it and to get the answer in writing. The tax treatment of education and tuition services in the UAE is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority's own guidance rather than for a tutoring provider's summary, and this page does not state it. What a provider can and should tell you is whether the number they just quoted is the number you will pay.

05

Tuition in context: fees, the 2026-27 freeze and exam entry costs

Tutoring is a small line next to a Dubai school fee, and placing it next to the other education costs a family carries makes it easier to judge. The emirate's private sector held 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 different curricula in 2024-25, and KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there will be no increase in private school fees for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total.

That freeze is the right anchor for a tuition budget conversation this year, because it means the rest of the education bill is flat while tutoring is not. Dubai's 2026-27 intake also adds seven new private schools - four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate - creating 16,846 new places, after six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6 per cent. More capacity changes where families can study; it does not change what an hour of specialist teaching costs.

The other cost families forget is exam entry, which is paid through the school in the normal case and directly to a centre for a private candidate. Entry fees are set by the centre rather than the board and vary, so the number has to come from your school's exams officer or from the centre you approach. A retake plan with no entry-fee line in it is an incomplete plan, and the fee is usually payable well before the papers - both Cambridge series close entries months ahead of them, and Pearson's November 2026 window ran from late October to 19 November 2026 with its deadline long past by the time it opened.

The table puts the pieces together. Figures attributed to published sources are marked as such; where a number depends on your own school or centre, the table says so rather than inventing a figure. We publish no fee list for IB Gram here because the right number depends on subject, tier, frequency and availability, and the consultation after the free trial lesson is where it belongs.

How many hours a subject really needs

  • One content gap in one topic: commonly three to five sessions
  • A technique habit: two to three weeks of short, frequent drilling
  • Year-long maintenance in one subject: roughly thirty to thirty-five hours
  • Exam-term intensive in one subject: roughly ten to sixteen hours

The hourly rate is only half the cost. The other half is the number of hours, and that is where families both over-buy and under-buy badly. Over-buying looks like three sessions a week in an attempt to feel safe. Under-buying looks like six sessions booked eight weeks before a June series for a syllabus that was never learned.

The honest ranges are narrower than the market implies. A single diagnosed content gap in one topic is commonly three to five sessions with practice between them. A technique habit - method lines, command terms, units - takes two or three weeks of short frequent drilling rather than a term. A full year of maintenance support in one subject through Year 10 is typically thirty to thirty-five hours spread across the year. An exam-term intensive in one subject is typically ten to sixteen hours concentrated into eight to twelve weeks.

What drives the total up is not difficulty but diffusion. A student with no diagnosis consumes hours on whatever they mention each week, and the same topics recur because nothing was fixed. A student with a ranked error log consumes fewer hours to better effect, which is the practical argument for spending one of the first hours on measurement rather than teaching.

There is one case where more hours genuinely is the answer, and it should be named: a student arriving mid-course in the second term of Year 11 from a different system, with real content gaps across a syllabus and no time. That is a triage situation, and the right conversation includes narrowing the subject set with the school or planning for a later series rather than buying into a window that cannot hold the work.

07

Why the cheapest quote is sometimes the expensive one

A low rate is not a red flag by itself. A capable university student teaching Year 9 algebra at the bottom of the published band is good value and the right purchase for that job. The problem arises when a low rate is bought for a job it cannot do: Extended-tier Chemistry eight weeks from a series, or a specification the tutor has never seen a paper from. That hour is not cheap; it is a term spent and a term lost.

There is also a compliance dimension that Dubai families should understand, because it is almost entirely absent from competitor pages. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Applications go through MoHRE's smart app, website and e-services system, under the service named 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', which lists a two-working-day completion time and no fees.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published - press reporting notes that the ministry did not specify amounts or detail the penalties - so any specific figure circulating online is unverified and we will not repeat one. The permit itself being free of charge is the point worth knowing: a tutor cannot cite permit cost as a reason for a rate.

Separately, a tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That is a different thing from an individual's work permit, and it is why 'KHDA approval' is a phrase to treat carefully: it applies to institutes with premises. IB Gram holds no such permit, operates no UAE premises, and makes no claim of approval or endorsement by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson.

Judging whether a term was worth the money

At renewal, the question is not whether the sessions happened or whether your child liked them. It is whether the losses that were costing marks in week one are still costing marks in week twelve. That is answerable if the work was documented and unanswerable if it was not, which is the practical reason to insist on written session notes and marked papers from the start rather than at the end.

Three things are worth looking at. The error log, compared with its first version: have the labels changed? Two marked papers from the same specification, placed side by side: has the loss moved from method to something else, which is progress even if the score is similar? And the student's own account of what they do differently in the exam hall, which is often the clearest signal of all.

A flat score with a changed error profile is a term that worked. A flat score with an identical error profile is a term that did not, and the correct response is to change the approach rather than to add hours - adding hours to an activity that is not working simply buys more of the thing that is not working. That sounds obvious written down and it is the most common error in this market.

It is also worth asking what the alternative use of the money was. For some families, one diagnostic session plus a disciplined home routine outperforms a term of weekly tuition, and nobody selling tuition has an incentive to say so. We would rather say it, partly because it is true and partly because the families who come back are the ones who were told the truth the first time.

Getting started without overbuying

  • Buy the diagnosis first; it is the cheapest useful purchase
  • Then buy four weeks of one subject, with a review date set
  • Get rate, session length, VAT position and cancellation terms in writing
  • No travel in the price, no Dubai venue, no UAE home visits

Start with the cheapest useful thing, which is a diagnosis. Bring the most recent marked mock script and the exam entry statement listing each subject's board, code and tier. The free trial lesson includes a short timed question so that the first conversation is about evidence rather than impressions, and it costs nothing - no card details are taken to book it.

Then buy the smallest block that could work. One subject, one weekly slot, four weeks, with an explicit review at the end against the error log. That is a modest commitment and it produces enough evidence to decide properly. Families who start by booking three subjects at two sessions a week have bought certainty rather than information, and they generally spend more for less.

Ask us the uncomfortable questions up front. What is the rate, per how many minutes, and does it include VAT. What are the cancellation terms in hours. What happens if the first match is wrong. Which of my child's subjects are you thin on. And: is tuition actually the right purchase here, or is it a mock-reading problem we could hand back to you to act on. All five have answers and you should have them in writing before the first paid session.

Finally, the format, stated plainly. These are live one-to-one video lessons on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram operates no centre or classroom in Dubai and does not provide home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. The cost consequence is straightforward: there is no travel component in the number, and the tutor is chosen for the specification rather than for living within half an hour of your community.

Where we tutor

What families in different parts of Dubai actually ask about price

Price sensitivity and the questions that come with it vary across the city. These notes describe what families ask, not where a tutor sits - delivery is over video throughout.

Bur Dubai and Al Mankhool

Long-settled districts where households compare hourly rates carefully and ask about session length before credentials. Shorter, more frequent sessions are the usual preference, and they are often the better buy.

Karama and Oud Metha

Price-led conversations and a strong preference for monthly rather than per-session billing. Families here are most likely to ask whether a quoted figure includes VAT, which is the right question to ask anyone.

Al Nahda and Al Qusais

Households frequently supporting two or three children at once, so sibling scheduling and total monthly outlay matter more than the headline hourly rate. The arithmetic that counts is cost per child per month.

Dubai Festival City and Al Jaddaf

Mixed apartment and villa stock with a wide income spread, and the widest range of accepted price points we see in one district. The useful conversation here is about hours needed rather than rate.

The Sustainable City and Dubai South

Outlying communities where an in-home tutor's travel time was historically priced into every quote. Removing the journey takes a real cost out of the number rather than simply relocating it.

Jumeirah Golf Estates and Emirates Hills

Specialist and examiner-experienced tutors are requested most often from these catchments, which sits at the upper end of every published band. The question worth asking is whether that premium buys something your child's specific losses need.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Heavy co-curricular timetables and late sessions, which pushes families towards shorter blocks. Two 45-minute sessions a week frequently cost the same as one long one and work better.

Tilal Al Ghaf and Dubai Hills Estate

Newer communities with young cohorts, so spending starts in Years 8 and 9. That is the cheapest end of the market and the stage with the longest time for the work to compound.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Bur Dubai, Oud Metha and Al Mankhool

An established schooling belt with a broad curriculum mix and the most price-aware conversations in the city. Students we support from these catchments commonly take Cambridge entries with a mixed subject set.

  • Dubai Gem Private School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • The Westminster School
  • St Mary's Catholic High School

Festival City, Al Jaddaf and Nad Al Hamar

A cluster where British, Swiss and American provision sit close together and families often compare across systems before choosing. Questions here tend to be about hours needed per subject rather than hourly rate.

  • Deira International School
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Universal American School
  • GEMS Modern Academy

Emirates Hills, Jumeirah Golf Estates and Tilal Al Ghaf

Villa catchments where specialist and examiner-experienced tutors are requested most, at the upper end of the published rate bands. The honest advice here is often to buy fewer hours of the right specialism rather than more of a premium label.

  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai
  • Fairgreen International School

Schools are named as context for Dubai's education market and the catchments our students come from. No affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any school or school group is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subjects and the constraint

Subject, board, code, tier and the two evening windows that genuinely work on a Dubai school week. Say what your budget is as well - a provider who knows the constraint can recommend the format that fits it instead of quoting the format that suits them.

  2. 02

    Free trial lesson, no card

A live one-to-one video session with the proposed tutor, including a short timed question so there is something to mark. No card details are taken to book it and no commitment follows from it. Judge it by what it produced rather than how it felt.

  3. 03

    Rates and terms in writing

The hourly figure, the session length in minutes, whether the number includes VAT, the cancellation and rescheduling terms in hours, and what happens if the match is wrong. All of it before the first paid session, in one message you can keep.

  4. 04

Start with the smallest block that could work

One subject, one weekly slot, four weeks, with a review date in the diary. That is enough to produce evidence and small enough that being wrong costs little. Scaling up after a review is cheaper than scaling down after a term.

  5. 05

Review against the error log, not the invoice

At four weeks and again at twelve, compare the error log with its first version and two marked papers side by side. A changed error profile is progress even with a flat score. An identical profile means the approach changes rather than the hours increasing.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The rates are on the page

Published market bands in AED, each attributed to the provider or rate guide that published it, dated October 2026. Three of six competitor pages in this search publish no price at all, and two of the three that do price in dollars.

No travel in the number

Because tuition is delivered over live video, the travel component that lifts in-home rates to the AED 180-500 band is simply absent. The same money buys more teaching time.

Honest about format trade-offs

Group classes are genuinely better value for some jobs and we say which. We do not run them at a Dubai venue, so there is nothing to sell you in that row of the table.

Terms before payment

Session length in minutes, VAT position, cancellation window in hours and replacement policy, supplied in writing before the first paid session rather than discovered on an invoice.

We will tell you not to buy

Where a marked mock shows the answer is a home routine and a reading of the script rather than a term of sessions, that is the recommendation. Families told the truth once tend to come back when they do need something.

No claims we cannot stand behind

No grade guarantees, no satisfaction percentages, no self-awarded ratings, no stated VAT treatment without an authority behind it, and no suggestion of approval by KHDA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much do IGCSE classes cost per hour in Dubai in 2026?+

Published market rates fall into bands. Budget online tutoring and university students advertise from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik listing from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52. Qualified subject tutors working online sit broadly between AED 150 and 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. In-home one-to-one visits run about AED 180 to 500 with travel included. Dedicated IGCSE and A Level specialists are quoted at AED 200 to 450 and above, and premium named tutors higher again. Those are other providers' own published figures as of October 2026, not our price list.

Are small group IGCSE classes better value than one-to-one sessions?+

It depends entirely on whether the students share the problem. Compare per student per hour of direct attention rather than per hour of elapsed time: in a group of six, each student receives roughly ten minutes of individual attention. That is excellent value when all six are meeting a new topic together, and poor value when five of them need something your child does not. A diagnosis changes the answer, which is why a marked script read properly is often the purchase that should come first.

What should a monthly IGCSE tuition package in Dubai actually include?+

Ask for the number of sessions, their length in minutes, the subjects covered, whether unused sessions carry over, the rescheduling allowance per month, and the notice period to stop. Packages circulating in the market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. A package is only good value if the sessions get used, so the rescheduling terms matter more than the headline figure for a family with a fixture-heavy school calendar.

Which IGCSE subjects tend to cost more per hour in Dubai, and why?+

Scarcity rather than difficulty sets the price. Additional Mathematics and Further Pure Mathematics carry a clear premium because very few tutors in any one part of the city have taught those specifications. Computer Science sits high for a related reason: tutors who can program are plentiful, tutors who can teach the board's pseudocode convention and trace-table method are not. Extended and Higher tier work costs more than Core and Foundation. Mathematics, Biology and the English specifications have the deepest pools and therefore the most competitive pricing.

Do tutoring rates in Dubai go up closer to the exam series?+

In practice yes, and it is a supply fact rather than a sales tactic. Demand concentrates between January and April for a June series, the number of evening slots is fixed, and specialists with a free Tuesday at 6pm in February are scarce. Booking a regular slot in September costs less than buying the same slot in February, and it also gives the work time to compound. If you are starting late, expect the upper end of the published band and a shorter list of available tutors, particularly in the thinly taught specifications.

Is an advertised AED rate per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson?+

Ask, because both conventions are in use and a fifty-minute 'hour' is common. The question matters more than it looks: AED 200 for fifty minutes is AED 240 an hour, which moves a quote from one market band into another. Get the session length in minutes, confirm whether the figure is per session or per sixty minutes, and ask whether a 45-minute option exists at the same hourly basis - for drilling work two shorter sessions a week often beat one long one on both effect and cost.

Should I expect VAT to be added to a tutoring invoice in Dubai?+

Ask the provider whether the figure they quoted includes it, and keep the answer in writing. The VAT treatment of education and tuition services in the UAE is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority's own published guidance rather than for any tutoring company's summary, and this page deliberately does not state it. What a provider can tell you, and should, is whether the number on the quote is the number you will pay. A provider who cannot answer that about their own invoice has told you something useful.

What extras should I ask about before paying for a term of classes?+

Registration or matching fees, materials and printing, separate diagnostic or assessment charges, the late-cancellation window in hours, the rescheduling allowance per month, minimum commitment and notice to stop, peak-season surcharges during the exam run, travel surcharges where an in-home arrangement applies, and whether a card payment carries a fee a transfer does not. Ask for all of it in one numbered message before the first paid session. A crisp written answer tells you the terms exist; a vague one tells you they will be vague during a dispute too.

How many hours does one IGCSE subject usually need across Year 11?+

Narrower ranges than the market implies. A single diagnosed content gap in one topic is commonly three to five sessions with practice between them. A technique habit such as writing method lines or reading command terms takes two to three weeks of short frequent drilling. Year-long maintenance in one subject runs roughly thirty to thirty-five hours spread across the year, and an exam-term intensive is typically ten to sixteen hours concentrated into eight to twelve weeks. Hours multiply when there is no diagnosis, because the same topics recur without ever being fixed.

Why can the cheapest IGCSE tutor in Dubai turn out to be the most expensive choice?+

Because a rate is only cheap relative to the job. A capable university student teaching Year 9 algebra at the bottom of the published band is good value. The same tutor taking on Extended-tier Chemistry eight weeks before a series has been bought for a job they cannot do, and the cost is a lost term rather than the hourly fee. Ask what specification they have taught, which papers, and at which tier. Also ask about the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is free of charge for two years and is required of individuals tutoring in the UAE.

Can one tutor cover two or three of my child's IGCSE subjects?+

Sometimes, and the test is specification experience rather than general competence. Physics and Mathematics is a common and credible pairing. Chemistry and Biology is plausible. Mathematics and English is possible but rarer at a specialist standard, and a tutor who claims five subjects across both boards is usually claiming breadth they cannot evidence. Where one tutor genuinely covers two subjects there is often a package rate and always a scheduling advantage. Where they do not, two specialists at fewer hours each is the better purchase.

What happens financially if we decide to stop after one or two lessons?+

That depends on the terms you agreed, which is exactly why they should be in writing first. With us the trial lesson is free and takes no card details, and we would rather you stopped after a short block than committed to a term that was not working. In the wider market, watch for minimum commitment periods, notice requirements measured in sessions rather than days, and prepaid packages with no refund on unused sessions. Ask for the stopping terms before the starting terms; the answer tells you how confident the provider is.

Do IGCSE classes with IB Gram take place at a venue anywhere in Dubai?+

No. IB Gram operates no centre, classroom, office or branch in the UAE, and does not provide home visits in Dubai or elsewhere in the country - in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Classes are delivered as live one-to-one or paired video sessions on Gulf Standard Time. The cost effect is direct: the travel element that lifts in-home rates into the AED 180-500 band is absent from the number, and the tutor is selected for the specification your child sits rather than for proximity to your community.

How do school fees and tutoring costs compare for a Dubai family this year?+

School fees are the far larger line and, unusually, they are flat: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there will be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for 2026-27, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Tutoring is not frozen. Published monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Exam entry fees, set by your school or centre, sit alongside both.

How do I judge at renewal whether a term of classes was worth the money?+

Compare the error log with its first version and put two marked papers from the same specification side by side. If the losses have moved - method fixed, timing now the main problem - the term worked even if the score is similar, because a different problem is a nearer problem. If the error profile is identical, the term did not work, and the correct response is to change the approach rather than add hours. Ask your child what they now do differently in the exam hall; that answer is often the clearest signal available.

Buy the diagnosis, then buy four weeks

IGCSE classes in Dubai are priced across a wide and public range, from roughly AED 45 an hour at the budget end to AED 650 for premium named tutors, and the number you should pay depends on a diagnosis nobody has made yet. So start there: bring the most recent marked mock script, take the free trial lesson, and get the rate, session length, VAT position and cancellation terms in writing. Then buy the smallest block that could work and review it against the error log. Sessions run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
