Cambridge IGCSE Environmental Management 0680 Online Tutor in Dubai

Booking a Cambridge IGCSE Environmental Management 0680 online tutor in Dubai is a decision about structure as much as about rate: a 45-minute slot, a 90-minute block, a twelve-week paced plan and a four-session rescue cost different amounts and do different jobs. This page prices each one in AED against the market's published figures, and sets out what the online hour needs technically to be worth paying for.

  • Session lengths priced separately, because they are not interchangeable
  • A twelve-week 0680 plan costed week by week in AED
  • Invoice, VAT and cancellation terms stated before the first paid hour
  • Free trial lesson to start, with no card details required

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The structure of a 0680 plan decides the bill more than the hourly rate does

Two Dubai families can pay the same hourly figure for 0680 support and spend wildly different totals, because the unit they bought was different. One takes a 45-minute slot weekly for three terms. One takes four 90-minute blocks in the month before the paper. One signs a monthly package of eight sessions and uses five. The rate is almost irrelevant to the outcome of those three decisions, and yet the rate is the only number most providers will discuss.

This page is about the other variables. What a 45-minute session is good for and what it cannot do. Why 90 minutes is better value for resource-booklet work and worse value for definition drilling. What a twelve-week paced plan actually costs laid out week by week. What a November resit costs against a June first attempt. And what should be on the invoice, because an agreement with no written scope is where the disputes in this market live.

The market figures used throughout are published ones, attributed, read in October 2026. Unitors quotes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200. TutorChase publishes AED 270 for specialist support. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts specialist exam-year support at AED 200 to 450 or more, and its monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work. Monthly online packages are advertised from around AED 799 for eight sessions. Tutopiya starts at AED 33 to 52 and EdFlik at AED 45 to 65; BartyED publishes AED 650.

A word on why this matters more for 0680 than for most subjects. The qualification is two written papers with no coursework and no practical, and the half that decides grades is a resource booklet of unseen data. That is skill work, and skill work responds to spaced repetition rather than to volume. Eight sessions spread across twelve weeks move a Paper 2 grade more than eight sessions crammed into three, at identical cost. Structure is not administrative detail here; it is most of the value.

Delivery, stated plainly before any figures: IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, and home visits are a service we run only in India. For this syllabus that suits the work, because annotating a graph together on a shared screen is the core activity and a shared screen does it better than a shared printout. It also means the tutor is chosen for having taught both 0680 papers rather than for living within driving distance of your community, which in a subject this thinly staffed across the emirate is the difference between a specialist and a general science teacher reading the syllabus a week ahead of your child.

  • Monthly online packages advertised from around AED 799 for eight sessions
  • 90 minutes suits resource-booklet work; 45 minutes suits definitions and drills
  • Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, so a resit is a real option

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The right structure changes with how much time is left and what the student is carrying. These are the four situations Dubai families arrive in, and the plan shape that fits each.

PACEDAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Paced plan across a term

Weekly sessions over ten to fourteen weeks, which is the structure that suits a skill-led syllabus. Spaced practice on data questions beats concentrated practice at the same cost, because the habit of reading a value with its unit has to survive a week of not doing it. This is the cheapest route to a Paper 2 improvement and the least popular.

Dubai school terms and the January mock window make the autumn term the natural home for a paced plan. Booking then also sidesteps the February squeeze, when every Year 11 cohort in the emirate wants the same scarce 0680 specialists and availability rather than price becomes the binding constraint.

BLOCKAges 15-16 · Year 11

Compressed block before a paper

Four to six sessions in the final six weeks, usually 90 minutes each, aimed squarely at Paper 2 procedure and the high-tariff evaluation items. Costs the same as a paced plan of the same length and delivers less, because there is no gap between sessions for a habit to consolidate. Still the right choice when a family arrives late.

Across the emirate this is what most 0680 spending looks like, concentrated between the January mocks and the series. A family in this position should ask any provider directly what can realistically be achieved in the time, and treat an answer that promises everything as a reason to look elsewhere.

RESITAges 16-17 · after results

Resit for a second series

The cheapest tutoring in this subject per mark gained, because the diagnosis already exists. The original script shows exactly which questions bled marks, so a resit block is typically three to five sessions rather than a rebuild. Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, so the second attempt is only months away.

Entry may be through the student's own school or through a Dubai exam centre as a private candidate, and the entry fee is the centre's to set. Confirm with the centre in writing and name 0680 specifically, because acceptance by syllabus differs between centres in the emirate.

POST16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

Carrying the skill into post-16 study

The reason paced spending at 15 is cheaper than remediation at 17. AS and A Level Geography, Environmental Management where offered, and IB Environmental Systems and Societies all assess data interpretation and evaluation at a higher tariff, and Dubai market rates for post-16 support sit above IGCSE rates.

Provision differs sharply between Dubai sixth forms and not every school teaching 0680 continues it. Confirm in writing which post-16 routes the grade feeds before option choices close, rather than inheriting an assumption from a tutoring page or a prospectus photograph.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Online delivery suits some subjects better than others, and it is worth being specific rather than claiming it suits everything equally. Here is what the format changes, subject by subject, for the IGCSEs Dubai students take with 0680.

Environmental Management (0680)

Single tier, two written papers

Suits online delivery particularly well. The core activity is annotating a graph, map or table together and marking an answer against a criterion, and a shared screen both people can draw on is better than one printout between two. No practical and no coursework means nothing in the syllabus needs a tutor physically present.

Geography (0460)

Core and Extended

Works well online, with one caveat: ordnance-style map work on the skills paper needs a decent screen or a tablet, because measuring and interpreting at small scale on a phone is genuinely harder. Otherwise the overlap with 0680 on water, population and hazards makes a combined online plan efficient.

Biology (0610)

Core and Extended

Strong online for theory and for the alternative-to-practical paper, which is itself a written exercise in experimental reasoning rather than a laboratory task. Diagram work - drawing and labelling a cycle or a system - needs a stylus or a tablet to be done properly rather than described.

Chemistry (0620)

Core and Extended

Fine online for calculation, equations and theory. Where it is weaker is apparatus familiarity, which a school practical programme supplies and a tutor cannot replace. Relevant to 0680 for the atmosphere topic, where chemistry explains the mechanism a geographer tends to assert.

Physics (0625)

Core and Extended

Suits online work closely, because most of it is problem-solving on paper that both parties can see live. Useful for 0680's energy topic specifically: efficiency, energy transfer and the real output limits of solar and nuclear generation.

Mathematics (0580)

Core and Extended

The subject online tutoring handles most reliably, because every step is written and visible. Worth running separately at a lower rate if a 0680 diagnosis points at proportional reasoning - percentage change from the wrong baseline is a maths fault, not a geography one.

Co-ordinated Sciences (0654)

Double award

Works online across all three strands with the same diagram caveat as Biology. Students on this route take 0680 as an additional option and usually need more topic-building than technique work, which spaced weekly sessions suit better than a compressed block.

Global Perspectives (0457)

Single tier

Almost ideally suited to online delivery, because the whole subject is a shared document: a research question, a source set, a draft both people can edit live. Shares 0680's sustainability and water territory, so one tutor across both is efficient.

Economics (0455)

Single tier

Good online, especially data-response technique, which is close kin to the 0680 resource booklet. Diagram drawing needs a stylus to be taught rather than narrated, and that is worth confirming with any provider before booking.

Business Studies (0450)

Single tier

Works online without caveat; it is reading, calculation and evaluation. Included because its evaluation structure travels into 0680 answers, though its formulaic conclusion paragraph has to be unlearned for the higher-tariff items.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

Well suited to online delivery, with speaking components practised live. Relevant to 0680 because precise description of a trend is a language skill as much as a data skill, and students writing in an additional language lose describe marks to vocabulary rather than to understanding.

Arabic as a Foreign Language (0544)

Single tier

Delivered online widely across the Gulf, with script work needing a tablet or a stylus. KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, so it occupies timetable space and budget whatever else a family funds.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three session shapes, priced differently because they do different work. All are delivered one-to-one online over live video in Gulf Standard Time.

45 minutes, weekly

The right unit for definitions, command-term drills and short data questions. Long enough to teach one thing properly and short enough that a Year 11 student arriving from school can concentrate throughout. Cheaper per session and often better value than an hour spent two-thirds attentive.

  • Suits apartment households where quiet time is limited
  • One fault per session, named at the start and tested at the end
  • Priced below the hourly band rather than pro rata
  • Easy to move when a training or revision clash appears

90 minutes, fortnightly or weekly

The unit for resource-booklet work. A timed data question plus a full line-by-line review does not fit an hour, and the first ten minutes of any session go on reloading where the last one ended. Fewer, longer sessions reduce that overhead and suit Saturday mornings.

  • A full timed Paper 2 section plus the marking in one sitting
  • Rarely priced at one and a half times the hourly rate
  • Best booked at a weekend rather than after a school day
  • Written annotations left on the script for the week after

Short rescue block

Four to six sessions in the final weeks, aimed at the highest-yield faults only: command terms, Paper 2 procedure, evaluation structure. No attempt to cover the syllabus, because that is not achievable in the time and pretending otherwise wastes the money.

  • Scope agreed as what can realistically be achieved, in writing
  • Topics explicitly out of scope named rather than quietly skipped
  • Fixed session count with no rolling renewal
  • A handover note so the school's teacher knows what was covered

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What an online 0680 tutor costs in Dubai by session length

An online 0680 tutor in Dubai sits in a published band of AED 150 to 300 an hour for a qualified subject tutor and AED 200 to 450 or more for specialist exam-year support, with budget providers advertising from AED 33 and a premium named tutor publishing AED 650. Those are the market's own figures, attributed in the table below and read in October 2026. What the market does not publish is how those figures translate across session lengths, which is the decision a parent actually makes.

Session length is rarely priced proportionally, and that creates real differences in value. A 45-minute slot usually costs more than three quarters of the hourly figure and delivers more than three quarters of the teaching, because the fixed overhead at the start of a session - settling, recalling last week, opening the document - is a smaller share of a short session when the session has one narrow purpose. For definitions, command-term drills and a single short data question, 45 minutes is the efficient unit.

A 90-minute block is the opposite case and the better buy for Paper 2. A full timed section plus a line-by-line review simply does not fit an hour, and splitting it across two weeks means the student reads their own marked work seven days after writing it, when the reasoning has gone. Because 90 minutes is almost never priced at one and a half times the hourly rate, the effective cost per useful minute drops. The constraint is attention, which is why these belong at a weekend rather than at 6pm on a Tuesday.

Monthly packages are the third shape and the one to read carefully. Advertised online packages in Dubai start around AED 799 for eight sessions, which is below the specialist band per hour. The questions that decide whether that is good value are whether unused sessions expire, whether the arrangement renews automatically, whether a missed session counts as used, and whether the tutor assigned has taught 0680 or general science. A cheap package used five times out of eight is not cheap.

What the online 0680 hour needs to be worth paying for

  • Both parties must be able to annotate the same resource live, not just view it
  • A tablet with a stylus or a large screen beats a laptop trackpad for graph work
  • Marked scripts should come back as a file the student keeps
  • Set the slot in Gulf Standard Time and ask the tutor's own local time
  • Confirm how a moved or missed session is treated before paying

An online session is only as good as what both people can see and draw on, and in this subject that is not a minor technical footnote. The entire Paper 2 skill is annotation: circling the value being read off a graph, marking the gridline you interpolated between, bracketing the section of a trend you are describing, writing the percentage-change working beside the figure. A session where the tutor describes those actions verbally while the student watches is a materially worse session than one where both of them mark the same resource.

So three practical things are worth checking before paying anyone, including us. First, whether the platform lets both parties annotate the same document live, rather than only screen-sharing one-way. Second, whether the student has a screen large enough to read a map or a multi-series graph - a phone is not adequate for this syllabus, and a tablet with a stylus is a genuine upgrade over a laptop trackpad for drawing. Third, whether the tutor's own setup can hand marked work back as a file the student keeps, because the annotated script is the asset that makes the next week's session worth anything.

Time zones matter more than families expect. A tutor matched outside the Gulf may be working several hours behind or ahead, and a slot that looks fine on paper can sit at an hour when nobody is sharp. Sessions should be set in Gulf Standard Time and the tutor's own local time should be a question you ask, not an assumption. A 7.30pm Dubai slot that is 6am for the tutor will not be the session you were sold, however qualified they are.

There is also a scheduling advantage worth taking deliberately. With no travel attached, a slot can sit after 6.30pm when the Dubai school run is finished, at 9am on a Saturday for a 90-minute block, or after Iftar during Ramadan when a shorter later session is more productive than an exhausted afternoon one. Sessions can move for mock fortnights rather than being charged through them. Ask any provider how a moved session is treated before you commit, because that single clause is worth more over a term than a small difference in rate.

03

A twelve-week 0680 plan, costed week by week

Here is what a paced plan looks like with a price attached to each week, which is the thing no provider in this market publishes. The assumption is one 60-minute session a week at the published specialist band of AED 200 to 450 an hour, which puts the full twelve weeks at roughly AED 2,400 to 5,400. The sequence matters as much as the total: technique first because it converts to marks fastest, topic repair second, then a timed run-in.

Notice what sits in week one. Not teaching, but diagnosis: a timed data question, a check on arithmetic, and a sample of definitions across all ten topic areas, so the remaining eleven weeks are spent on the faults the student actually has rather than on a generic syllabus tour. Families who skip this step routinely pay for four sessions on ecosystems before anyone notices the real problem was reading values off a graph.

Notice also what is deliberately absent. There is no week given to covering the whole syllabus, because twelve hours cannot do that and a plan that pretends otherwise is selling comfort. If the diagnosis in week one shows a missing half of the syllabus, the honest answer is a longer plan or a narrower target, and we say which at that point rather than at week nine.

A family can run this plan with any provider, and we would rather publish it than imply it is proprietary. What it demonstrates is the real argument for buying early: the same twelve hours bought in the six weeks before a paper cannot be spaced, so the habits do not consolidate, and the identical spend produces a smaller movement. Structure is the part of tutoring value that is free to get right.

Resit economics: what a second attempt at 0680 costs

Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, and those are the two a UAE centre can enter a candidate for. The February/March series that appears in some timetables is offered to India only, so it is not a route available from Dubai and should be ignored when you plan. What the November series does mean is that a Dubai student who misses a grade in June is a few months from another attempt rather than a year, with entries for it closing in the autumn term. Families rarely price that option properly, and when the gap is two or three marks it is usually the cheapest tutoring per mark gained in the whole subject.

The reason is diagnostic. A first attempt is tutored partly in the dark: nobody knows precisely which questions will bleed marks until a real paper has been sat. A resit is tutored with the evidence in hand. The original script, or at minimum the component breakdown, shows whether the loss was concentrated in Paper 2 procedure, in a specific topic area, or in arithmetic across both papers. A block aimed at a known fault is three to five sessions, not twelve.

Against that, there are real costs a tutoring provider should not be quoting. Entry for a resit may run through the student's own school or through a Dubai exam centre as a private candidate, and the entry fee is the centre's to set and varies between centres. Ask in writing and name 0680 specifically, because what each centre accepts by syllabus differs. Pearson's equivalent pattern is a May and June series and a November series, with the November 2026 International GCSE final timetable running to 19 November 2026, and results timings published per series.

One procedural trap deserves naming because it costs candidates papers rather than marks. Cambridge allocates every exam centre to one of six administrative zones, states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. A resit candidate entering through an unfamiliar centre is exactly the person most likely to download the wrong timetable. Get the zone confirmed in writing by the centre.

Invoices, VAT and what you are actually contracting for

  • Amount in AED, session count and session length on the invoice
  • Tax position shown on the document, with a registration number where held
  • Cancellation notice in hours, and whether a missed session is chargeable
  • Package expiry and whether the arrangement auto-renews
  • What happens if the assigned tutor becomes unavailable mid-block
  • Any condition on a free trial stated on the same screen as the offer

This is the least glamorous section on the page and the one that prevents the most trouble. A tutoring arrangement in Dubai is frequently agreed over a messaging app with a single number in it, and when something goes wrong - a missed session, an unused package, a tutor change - there is nothing written down to appeal to. A parent should insist on a scope before the first paid hour, and a provider who will not give one has told you something useful.

On tax, we will not state a general position for the sector. The treatment of tuition fees depends on the provider's own registration and circumstances, and we are not going to assert a VAT rule for UAE tuition without a Federal Tax Authority citation to stand on. What a parent can reasonably require is clarity about their own invoice: the amount in AED, what the charge covers, the number and length of sessions, the tax position shown clearly on the face of the document, and a tax registration number where the provider holds one. Ask the question directly and keep the written answer.

The clauses that matter most in practice are the dull ones. How much notice cancels a session without charge, measured in hours. Whether a missed session is chargeable or reschedulable. Whether sessions in a package expire, and when. Whether the arrangement renews automatically unless cancelled. What happens if the assigned tutor becomes unavailable mid-block. Whether a replacement tutor is offered at the same rate. None of this is complicated and almost none of it is standard in this market.

On conditional offers, one rule covers it: a condition has to be stated on the same screen as the word free. Our trial lesson is one full session at no cost, before any payment, with no card details required to book it, limited to one per student, and it works best if the student's marked script is sent in advance. That is the whole condition, written next to the offer rather than discovered later.

06

Online one-to-one against a Dubai tuition centre group class

A centre group class is the main alternative a Dubai family weighs against online one-to-one, and the comparison deserves better than the straw man most providers build. Group classes are cheaper per student, they impose a schedule which some students need, and a good centre teacher covering a syllabus to eight students on a fixed timetable delivers real value for a student who is behind on content rather than on technique.

Where a group class fails for 0680 specifically is the marking loop. The grade-moving work in this subject is a student's own script read line by line against a criterion, with a running list of that individual's repeated errors. In a class of eight that happens at most once a cycle and never in the detail required. A student whose fault is reading values between gridlines will sit through eight weeks of correct general teaching with the fault intact.

The second failure mode is topic fit. A centre runs the syllabus in order for the group, which is efficient for the centre and wrong for the student whose problem is one third of the syllabus. Paying for the nine weeks that are not the problem in order to reach the three that are is a poor trade when the alternative is a short targeted block. The arithmetic favours the group class only if the student needs most of the syllabus taught.

The honest summary is that these are different products for different diagnoses, and the diagnosis should come first. A student missing most of the content and lacking structure is well served by a centre. A student with the content who cannot work a resource booklet is not, at any price. The table sets the two against each other on the dimensions that actually decide it.

What the regulators have to do with your tutoring budget

Regulation touches a tutoring budget in three concrete places, and Dubai parents are rarely shown the map. The first is school fees, the denominator in every tutoring decision. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there will be no increase in school fees for private schools in Dubai for 2026-27, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion of AED 2.5 billion in total. Dubai's intake for that year also adds seven new private schools - four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate - creating 16,846 new places, after six opened in 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6 per cent.

The second is who governs what, which matters if a family moves emirate mid-course. Dubai's private schools answer to KHDA. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain sit with ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education there, and Ras Al Khaimah has its Department of Knowledge; both approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so curriculum approval and not merely inspection sits at emirate level. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah fall under the federal Ministry of Education. ADEK is named by none of the competitors researched for this market and SPEA by one.

The third is the mandatory-subject requirement, which consumes timetable space and therefore budget. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because of the different curriculum expectations and language of instruction. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, with the advice that any mandatory-subject lesson should run at least 25 minutes.

What none of this means is that IB Gram carries any regulator's authority. We hold no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or the IB, and we run no centre or office in the UAE. A tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, obtained through initial approval and then permit and licence steps, with annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. We describe these bodies and link to them; any provider implying one endorses it is making a claim worth checking.

Six questions that reveal whether an online 0680 tutor is a specialist

Every provider in this market will say yes when asked whether they cover Environmental Management. These questions distinguish the ones who have taught it from the ones who have read the syllabus, and they cost nothing to ask before you pay. A family who asks them will be dealing with a different quality of answer within two minutes.

Ask which half of the syllabus the tutor is stronger on. Anyone who has taught 0680 will answer immediately, because almost everyone comes to it from geography or from biology and knows which side they lean to. An answer claiming equal mastery of marine fisheries management and of rocks and minerals exploitation is less plausible than a candid one. Ask how they teach the describe-a-trend answer, and listen for direction, magnitude and exception with figures rather than a general statement about reading graphs carefully.

Ask what they do with a candidate who lists advantages and disadvantages and then asserts a conclusion. A specialist will talk about evidence from the resources, costs and benefits and who bears them, a limitation in the data, and a judgement that follows from what came before. Ask what they would use as a UAE case study for the water topic, and expect desalination, brine, treated wastewater and demand management rather than a vague reference to the desert.

Then ask two commercial questions. What happens if the student's fault turns out to be arithmetic rather than geography - an honest provider will say a maths tutor at a lower rate may be the better purchase. And what happens if nobody with full-syllabus 0680 experience is free in the week you need. The right answer is a date, or a partial match described honestly with the gap named. The wrong answer is a confident yes with no detail behind it, which in a subject this thin is the answer you should expect to hear most often.

Where we tutor

Where in Dubai the online format changes the evening

The teaching does not vary by community. What varies is when a session can realistically start, what the home can offer as a working space, and whether anything local was ever available for this subject.

The Greens and Barsha Heights

Apartment living close to the school corridor, so local supply exists but study space is tight. Shorter 45-minute sessions on definitions and command terms work better here than 90-minute blocks, and a session at 7.30pm after a quiet flat has emptied is more productive than one at 5pm.

Dubai Sports City and Motor City

Timetables crowded with training commitments that move weekly. The practical requirement here is a provider who will shift a slot without charging for it, which is worth asking about before signing a monthly package that treats a missed session as used.

Dubai Production City and Living Legends

Far enough from the tutoring corridor that in-home provision for a niche subject is effectively unavailable. Families here are choosing between an online specialist and nothing, which makes the session-structure question more important than the rate question.

Al Qusais and Al Nahda

Dense, well served by schools and highly price-sensitive, which is where budget online packages are marketed hardest. The thing to check in this market is not the monthly figure but whether unused sessions expire and whether the tutor has taught 0680 rather than general science.

Oud Metha, Zabeel and Dubai Healthcare City

Central and well connected, with parents often working into the evening. Written feedback between sessions carries real weight in these households, so it is worth confirming in writing whether a quoted rate includes marking a script or bills it separately.

Al Garhoud and Dubai Festival City

Reachable, with the Ras Al Khor wetland nearby as a genuine case study for the ecosystems topic. The online advantage here is less about travel and more about choosing a tutor who covers the oceans and fisheries half of the syllabus, which local availability rarely guarantees.

Jumeirah Islands and Jumeirah Park

Villa communities with space for a proper working setup, which matters more than families expect: a second screen or a tablet with a stylus transforms a 0680 session, because graph annotation stops being described and starts being done.

Dubai Marina and JLT

High-rise coastal living on reclaimed land, which is itself a usable example for coastal modification questions. Evening sessions dominate here, and a 90-minute Saturday morning block is the structure Marina families use most for resource-booklet work.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Al Barsha, The Greens and Al Sufouh

Dense school provision with full science departments, where 0680 is an option subject with fewer timetabled periods than the core sciences. Students we support in this cluster typically need Paper 2 procedure rather than topic coverage, which suits a short structured block.

  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • Regent International School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Safa British School

Al Qusais, Al Nahda and Garhoud

A large, price-sensitive market where budget packages are marketed aggressively and where the gap between a general science tutor and a 0680 specialist is widest. Families here benefit most from a diagnostic before committing to any monthly arrangement.

  • Deira International School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • Our Own English High School
  • Al Mawakeb School
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Dubailand, Sports City and Production City

Newer communities a long way from the tutoring corridor, where local provision for a niche option subject is effectively nil. Online is not the cheaper choice here so much as the only one, and session structure carries the whole value.

  • GEMS Metropole School
  • Hartland International School
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • GEMS FirstPoint School

Schools are listed as context for the Dubai private-school market only. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership, approval or endorsement relationship with any school, school group or regulator named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Pick the unit before the rate

Tell us whether you want 45-minute weekly slots, a 90-minute weekend block or a short rescue block. The unit shapes the bill far more than the hourly figure does, and for 0680 the right unit depends on whether the fault is technique or content.

  2. 02

Send a marked script for the diagnosis

A mock paper with marks on it lets a tutor name the fault - arithmetic, command terms, Paper 2 procedure, evaluation structure or genuine gaps - and attach a session count to each. You get that in writing before any payment is discussed.

  3. 03

    Check the technical setup

Both parties need to annotate the same resource live, and the student needs a screen that can show a multi-series graph properly. A tablet with a stylus is a real upgrade. We will tell you if your setup will limit the sessions before you book them.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial lesson

One full session at no cost before any payment, no card details required, one per student. Send the marked script in advance and the hour is spent on the work rather than on introductions. You keep the written note either way.

  5. 05

Get the dull clauses in writing

Rate in AED, session length, inclusions, cancellation notice in hours, whether a missed session is chargeable, package expiry if any, and what happens if the tutor becomes unavailable. Nothing renews automatically with us.

  6. 06

Review at week six, not at week twelve

Half way through a paced plan we check the fault list against the marked work and say plainly whether to continue, change focus or stop. A plan that is not working should be ended at week six rather than completed for tidiness.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Session shapes priced separately

45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes and a rescue block do different jobs and cost differently. We publish what each one suits and what it cannot do, so the unit is chosen on the work rather than on whichever one a provider prefers to sell.

A twelve-week plan published, not implied

The week-by-week plan on this page, with running AED spend, is yours to use with any provider. Structure is the part of tutoring value that costs nothing to get right, and no competitor in this market publishes a sequence at all.

Technical honesty about the online hour

Live shared annotation, a screen big enough for a multi-series graph, marked scripts handed back as files, and the slot set in Gulf Standard Time with the tutor's own local time disclosed. We will say when a setup will limit the session.

The dull clauses stated up front

Cancellation notice in hours, whether a missed session is chargeable, package expiry, auto-renewal and tutor substitution. These decide more of a term's cost than the headline rate, and almost nobody in this market writes them down.

We will point you to a cheaper fix

If a diagnosis shows the fault is proportional reasoning rather than resource management, a maths tutor at a lower rate is the better purchase and we will say so. Selling the specialist band for an arithmetic problem is not a service.

Regulators explained, never borrowed

This page maps KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, the Ministry of Education and MoHRE, and links to them. IB Gram holds no approval or partnership from any of them and operates no UAE centre.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much does an online Cambridge IGCSE Environmental Management 0680 tutor cost in Dubai?+

The published online band for a qualified subject tutor runs AED 150 to 300 an hour, and AED 200 to 450 or more for specialist exam-year support, with budget providers advertising from AED 33 and one premium provider publishing AED 650. For 0680 expect the specialist end, because the emirate's teaching population in the subject is small. The more useful figure is the total: a four to six session technique block is roughly AED 800 to 2,700, and a twelve-week paced plan at one hour a week is roughly AED 2,400 to 5,400 at the same band.

Is a 90-minute 0680 session better value than two 45-minute ones?+

For Paper 2 work, yes. A timed section plus a line-by-line review does not fit into 45 minutes, and splitting it across two weeks means the student reads their own marked script seven days after writing it, when the reasoning has gone. Because 90 minutes is rarely priced at one and a half times the hourly rate, the cost per useful minute falls. For definitions and command-term drills the opposite holds: 45 minutes with one narrow purpose is sharper and cheaper. Match the unit to the work, not to the discount.

What should I check about the online setup before booking 0680 sessions?+

Three things. Whether the platform lets both tutor and student annotate the same resource live rather than only sharing a screen one way, because annotation is the whole Paper 2 skill. Whether your child's screen can display a multi-series graph or a map legibly, since a phone is not adequate for this syllabus and a tablet with a stylus is a genuine upgrade. And whether marked work comes back as a file the student keeps, because the annotated script is what makes the following session worth anything.

Does the tutor's own time zone matter for an online 0680 session in Dubai?+

Yes, and it is worth asking directly. A tutor matched outside the Gulf may be several hours ahead or behind, so a 7.30pm Dubai slot could be very early morning for them, and that shows in the session however well qualified they are. Sessions should be scheduled in Gulf Standard Time and the tutor's own local time should be something you are told rather than something you discover. We also move slots for mock fortnights and shift to post-Iftar hours during Ramadan rather than charging through weeks that cannot work.

Is a monthly online 0680 package at AED 799 better than paying per session?+

It can be, and three clauses decide it. Whether unused sessions expire, because a package of eight used five times is not cheap. Whether the arrangement renews automatically unless cancelled. And whether the tutor assigned has actually taught 0680 or is a general science tutor covering an option subject. Advertised Dubai online packages from around AED 799 for eight sessions are below the specialist hourly band, which is attractive if your family will reliably use every session and poor value if the timetable is unpredictable.

How many weeks before the exam should we start online 0680 sessions?+

Ten to fourteen weeks is the structure that suits this syllabus, because the grade-moving skill is data technique and technique consolidates through spaced practice rather than volume. Eight sessions across twelve weeks move a Paper 2 grade further than the same eight crammed into three, at identical cost. Starting before the January mocks also means choosing from the few people in Dubai who have taught both papers, rather than from whoever is left afterwards. A late start is still worth doing; it simply buys less for the same money.

What does a twelve-week 0680 plan actually contain?+

Week one is diagnosis rather than teaching: a timed data question, an arithmetic check and definitions sampled across all ten topic areas, producing a written fault list. Weeks two and three drill command terms on marked papers. Weeks four to six build Paper 2 procedure with timed sections marked line by line. Weeks seven to nine repair the weakest third of the syllabus. Weeks ten and eleven rebuild evaluation structure on the high-tariff items. Week twelve is a timed full paper and a handover note. At the specialist band that is roughly AED 2,400 to 5,400.

Is a November 0680 resit cheaper than tutoring for the first attempt?+

Usually, and meaningfully so. Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, and a resit is tutored with the evidence in hand: the original script shows precisely where marks were lost, so the block is typically three to five sessions rather than eight to sixteen. Priced at the published specialist band that is roughly AED 600 to 2,250 against AED 800 to 7,200 for a first attempt from a weak base. The entry fee is separate and set by the exam centre, not by any tutoring provider.

Does the price of online 0680 tutoring in Dubai include VAT?+

Ask the provider and keep the written answer, because the treatment depends on their own registration and circumstances, and we will not assert a general VAT rule for UAE tuition without a Federal Tax Authority citation behind it. What you can reasonably insist on is an invoice showing the amount in AED, what the charge covers, the number and length of sessions, the tax position on the face of the document and a tax registration number where the provider holds one. A figure agreed over a messaging app with no invoice behind it is the arrangement to avoid.

What happens if our 0680 tutor becomes unavailable half way through a block?+

This is one of the clauses worth settling before you pay anyone. With us, the remaining sessions transfer to another tutor at the same agreed rate, and the written fault list and marked scripts go with them so nothing is re-diagnosed from scratch. Elsewhere the answers vary from a credit note to nothing at all. Ask the question directly, along with cancellation notice in hours, whether a missed session is chargeable and whether package sessions expire. These dull terms decide more of a term's cost than the headline rate.

Is a Dubai tuition centre group class a cheaper way to cover 0680?+

Cheaper per hour, and the right choice for a student who is behind on most of the syllabus and needs an imposed schedule. It fails for the commonest 0680 problem, which is a student who knows the content and cannot work a resource booklet, because the grade-moving activity is that individual's own script marked line by line and in a class of eight that cannot happen in the detail required. A centre also runs the syllabus in order for the group, so you pay for the nine weeks that are not the problem to reach the three that are.

Can you teach 0680 online if we move from Dubai to Sharjah or Abu Dhabi mid-year?+

Yes, and the sessions themselves are unaffected because there is no travel in them. What changes is the regulatory and school context around your child. Dubai schools answer to KHDA; Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to ADEK, which supervises licensing and accreditation of private schools; Sharjah to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which also approves fees, curricula and assessment methods; and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah to the federal Ministry of Education. Confirm with the receiving school whether it offers 0680 at all, because option provision varies between emirates.

What should I ask to tell a real 0680 specialist from someone who has read the syllabus?+

Ask which half of the syllabus they are stronger on; anyone who has taught it answers at once, because almost everyone arrives from geography or from biology. Ask how they teach a describe-a-trend answer, and listen for direction, magnitude and exception with figures. Ask what they do with a student who lists advantages and disadvantages then asserts a conclusion. Ask for a UAE case study for the water topic and expect desalination, brine and demand management rather than a vague reference to the desert. Confident yeses with no detail are the common answer in a subject this thin.

Could the real fault be maths rather than 0680, and would that be cheaper to fix?+

Frequently, and yes. A large share of lost 0680 marks come from proportional reasoning: percentage change calculated from the wrong baseline, values read between gridlines and rounded beyond what the scale supports, totals compared when the question asked about rates. Those are maths faults appearing on a geography paper. Maths tutoring in Dubai has the deepest supply and the lowest rates in the emirate, so fixing arithmetic with a maths tutor and then buying two 0680 sessions on technique is often cheaper than buying eight at the specialist band.
