IB Revision Classes in Dubai

IB revision classes in Dubai are sold three ways, at very different prices per student: holiday group courses, small-group sessions at a centre, and one-to-one work. This page sets out what each costs in AED, what each can actually fix, and when the cheaper option turns out to be the more expensive one. IB Gram's own model is one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Three products, one word, very different prices

The phrase 'revision classes' covers at least three different purchases in Dubai, and the price difference between them is large enough to change a family's plan. The first is a holiday revision course: a fixed programme over several days in a school break, taught to a group, usually covering a subject's main topics at pace. The second is small-group work at a tuition centre, typically two to six students, running weekly. The third is one-to-one revision, which is not a class at all but is what most families mean when they describe the problem they want solved.

Published Dubai market rates read in October 2026 give the shape of the difference. Qualified online subject tutors sit at AED 150 to 300 an hour, IB specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and one premium provider at AED 650. In-home visits run AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the rate. Group formats are cheaper per student because the hourly fee is divided, and tuition centres price accordingly. Bestimate's Dubai monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions are AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Those are the market's figures, not ours.

What the price difference buys is diagnosis. A group class teaches content to a room; it cannot tell you that your child's Economics marks are going because the evaluation paragraph never reaches a judgement, or that their Biology answers are strong content in the wrong command-term shape. Those are individual findings, visible only in that student's marked script. A family paying for a group course to solve an individual problem is buying the wrong product cheaply, which is the most common way revision money is wasted in this emirate.

The reverse case is just as real and just as costly when it is missed. A student with genuine content gaps across a whole syllabus, who needs coverage rather than diagnosis, is well served by a group course and badly served by paying specialist one-to-one rates to be taught what a class could teach. The honest answer depends on the marked evidence, and the first job is to establish which kind of problem is in front of you. That takes one look at a script.

IB Gram's own model is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. We do not run group classes in the UAE, and IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. Where a group course is the right purchase, we will say so, including when it means we are not the right provider.

At a glance

  • Holiday courses, small groups and one-to-one are three different products
  • Group formats are cheaper per student because the fee is divided
  • What the premium buys is individual diagnosis from a marked script
  • Content gaps suit a class; patterned mark losses do not

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Revision means something different at each IB stage, and the group-versus-individual question resolves differently too.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

Diploma Programme Year 2

The revision year. Mocks, Internal Assessment deadlines and then the May session, with six subjects plus the core to cover. Group courses cluster in the school breaks; one-to-one work concentrates on whichever two subjects the mock results identified.

Dubai DP2 students face a particular squeeze: the mock window from late November to early February overlaps Internal Assessment deadlines, and the KHDA mandatory subjects stay on the timetable throughout. Revision hours come out of a week that is already full, which is why a plan has to name the subjects it is giving up on.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma Programme Year 1

Revision here is consolidation rather than exam preparation, aimed at end-of-year examinations that set the baseline a teacher carries into DP2. Cheaper to buy and more useful per dirham than the same work bought a year later.

DP1 revision is the least popular and best-value purchase in the Dubai market. A student who consolidates DP1 content in the summer arrives in DP2 needing repair in one subject rather than three, which changes both the cost and the realistic ceiling of the final result.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP assessment is criterion-referenced, so revision looks like practising against criteria rather than past papers. Group classes are common at this stage and often appropriate, since the need is usually content coverage and study habits.

Dubai schools running MYP to Year 11 send students into DP1 without timed-paper experience. A short block on exam technique in the MYP5 summer is worth more than subject revision, and it is one of the few cases where the group format genuinely works as well as individual sessions.

COREAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

The core carries up to three points through the published matrix and is almost never covered by revision classes, because it is written coursework assessed against criteria rather than examined content. It needs individual feedback by its nature.

This is the clearest gap in Dubai's revision-class market. Holiday courses cover subjects; nobody runs a Theory of Knowledge course, and the Extended Essay is a one-to-one conversation by definition. Families who buy only group revision frequently leave three points entirely unmanaged.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below is where revision time is best spent in each subject, and whether a class or individual work is the better instrument.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Content coverage suits a class; method presentation and the final parts of long questions do not, because the losses are individual habits. Most Dubai students need the second more than the first.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistical techniques can be taught to a group efficiently. Interpretation in context, which is where the marks actually go, needs someone reading that student's written conclusions.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The heaviest content load in most timetables, so a group course covering energetics, equilibrium and organic pathways is genuinely useful. Paper 2 extended-response technique still needs marked individual work.

Biology

HL and SL

The subject where group revision helps least relative to cost, because most lost marks are command-term shape. One marked script tells you more than five days of content coverage.

Physics

HL and SL

Topic coverage in fields and induction works well in a group. Uncertainty treatment, significant figures and data-booklet habits are individual and are where the recoverable marks sit.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams can be taught to a room. Evaluation cannot, because the fix is specific to how that student structures a judgement, and it is the single largest recoverable mark block in the subject.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Group sessions can model unseen analysis usefully. Improvement comes from marked timed responses on the student's own writing, which no class format delivers at scale.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study practice works in a group because discussion helps. Applying tools to the stimulus rather than reciting them is a habit that needs individual marking to shift.

Psychology

HL and SL

Narrowing and firming a study bank is efficient in a class. Essay structure against the question needs marked individual practice, and that is where the grade moves.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Not covered by Dubai revision courses in any meaningful way. Work is feedback on the student's own claims and counterclaims against published criteria, with nothing drafted for them.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

We offer three one-to-one revision shapes rather than classes, priced and planned differently. All run over live video.

Diagnostic revision block

Four to six sessions beginning with a marked script, aimed at the specific recoverable marks it identifies. The cheapest effective purchase for a student whose content knowledge is broadly sound and whose marks are leaking through technique.

  • Starts from a marked paper, not a syllabus
  • Targets patterned losses by question type
  • Marked practice between sessions
  • Usually one subject over three to four weeks

Holiday intensive

A concentrated run during a Dubai school break, three to five sessions in a week per subject, used by families who want the break to count without losing it entirely. Suited to a student who needs topic coverage at pace and is prepared to work daily.

  • Scheduled inside the school break
  • Two subjects at most, sequenced not parallel
  • Daily contact with work set in between
  • Runs from wherever the family is travelling

Paper rotation run

The final phase before an examination session: full papers under timed conditions, marked, with each session spent on the errors the last paper produced. Where the real gains sit in the last six weeks, and where group courses are least useful.

  • Full-length papers under real timing
  • Marked against published criteria
  • Session agenda set by the marked paper
  • Content teaching closed off by this stage

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What each revision format costs per student in Dubai

Comparing these products properly means comparing cost per student per hour, and then asking what that hour contains. The figures below are other providers' published Dubai rates read in October 2026, together with the structural economics of group delivery. They are the market rather than IB Gram's price list, and we publish them because most pages ranking for these queries publish nothing at all.

A group course divides a tutor's hourly fee across the room, which is why a holiday programme can be advertised at a fraction of a one-to-one rate. That arithmetic is real and it is not a trick. What changes with group size is attention: in a room of twelve, no individual script is read; in a group of four, some individual feedback is possible; at one-to-one, the whole hour is spent on one student's errors. The right question is not which is cheapest but which contains what your child's marked paper says they need.

The hidden costs belong in the comparison too. A centre course involves travel at the busiest hour of a Dubai weekday, which for a family in Arabian Ranches or Dubai Hills can be an hour each way. Holiday courses are often sold as a fixed block, so a missed day is a paid-for day. And a course designed for a mixed curriculum room may spend a third of its time on material that does not match the IB's assessment at all.

For most DP2 students who have had mocks returned, the cheapest effective purchase is a short diagnostic one-to-one block rather than a longer group course, because the problem the mock revealed is individual. For a DP1 student with genuine content gaps across a subject, the group course is the better value. The marked paper tells you which case you are in, and that is a free piece of information.

What a revision class cannot do

  • A class cannot read an individual marked script
  • Identical grades in one class can mean opposite problems
  • The core's three points are not covered by any group course
  • Internal Assessment work requires individual feedback on the student's own draft

A class can teach content, model answers, set practice and create the social pressure that gets a reluctant student working. Those are real goods. What it cannot do is read your child's script. That limitation sounds minor and is the reason many Dubai families buy revision twice: once as a course, and then again as individual sessions when the course has not moved anything.

The pattern inside a mock paper is individual by nature. Two students with the same grade 4 in the same class can have opposite problems: one lost marks through pacing and blank final questions, the other through answering 'explain' questions as though they said 'describe'. A class addresses neither, because it does not know. The content it teaches will be partly already known and partly irrelevant to that student's losses.

The second thing a class cannot cover is the core. Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay carry up to three points through the IB's published matrix, and no Dubai revision course we have seen addresses them, for the obvious reason that they are written coursework assessed against criteria rather than examinable content. A family that buys only group revision frequently leaves those three points entirely unmanaged, which is often the cheapest improvement available.

The third is Internal Assessment work. That must be the student's own, and it needs individual feedback on their own draft against published criteria, which is incompatible with a class format and with any provider offering to produce it. We say this plainly because at least one provider ranking for UAE IB queries sells completed Internal Assessments at around AED 3,750, which risks a malpractice finding against the whole Diploma.

03

The Dubai revision calendar, and when courses actually run

Revision provision in Dubai clusters into the school breaks, which means the market's supply and a student's genuine need are not always aligned. Holiday courses run in the winter break, the spring break and occasionally in the weeks between, and they are advertised heavily in the fortnight before each. The useful discipline is to decide what the student needs first and then see whether a course happens to supply it, rather than buying what is on sale.

The Diploma runs two sessions a year, in May and November, and Dubai schools sit the May session as standard. We publish no specific IB session or results dates on these pages because the IB is the authoritative source and your coordinator holds the centre's version; any date restated here could be revised without this page noticing. The order of events, though, is stable enough to plan against.

Working backwards from the May session: the final six weeks should be full-paper rotation under timed conditions, which means content work has to be finished before that. The two months before that are mixed topic repair and timed questions. The winter break sits inside or beside the mock window, which makes it either a fortnight of lost momentum or the single most productive block of the year, depending on the decision made in November. Ramadan brings shortened school days and a shifted rhythm, with sessions commonly moving to a post-Iftar slot.

One Dubai-specific trap: the spring break often falls close enough to the May session that a family treats it as the main revision window. By then, content teaching is the wrong activity. The highest-value use of that fortnight is full papers, marked, with the errors from each one worked through the next day, and a course that spends it on topic coverage is spending it badly.

Making past papers count

Most revision failure in Dubai is not a shortage of past papers. It is papers sat without being marked, or marked without the errors being worked through. A paper that produces a mark and no change is an expensive way to pass an afternoon, and students do it repeatedly because it feels like work.

The method that produces movement has four steps and most students skip two of them. Sit the paper under real timing, without notes. Mark it against the published scheme, which means reading what the scheme actually required rather than deciding whether the answer was close enough. Classify each lost mark: content, command term, method, or time. Then work the next session entirely on whichever class of loss was largest.

That classification step is what converts practice into a plan. A student who discovers that two-thirds of their lost marks were command-term errors has learned something they can act on in a fortnight. A student who discovers the losses were spread evenly across unfamiliar content has learned that they need teaching rather than practice, which is a different purchase. Either way the next decision is evidence-based rather than anxious.

The volume question has a simple answer: as many full papers as the calendar allows, with marking in between, which is why the start date matters more than the weekly hour count. Three marked papers worked through properly beat ten sat and filed. And on materials, we link to official IB resources rather than redistributing papers, mark schemes or grade boundary tables; the school is the correct source for its own mock papers and for the department's criteria sheets.

Why our revision work runs one-to-one and online

IB Gram does not run group classes in the UAE and does not offer home visits; home visits are a service we offer only in India, and every UAE session is one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time. The reason is the nature of the work. Revision that moves a grade is built on one student's marked script, and the specialist who can read that script for a Higher Level subject is defined by what they know rather than by where they live.

There are two secondary advantages that matter in a revision run. Annotated papers are saved, so a student accumulates a file of their own corrected answers with the specific error flagged on each: by the spring that archive is a better revision resource than any published guide, because it contains that student's recurring mistakes. And a recurring online slot survives travel, which Dubai families do over every break, as well as the timetable disruption of the mock fortnight.

Against that, a centre course has one genuine advantage worth naming: other students in the room. For a student who will not work alone, social pressure is a real mechanism, and a family that knows this about their child should weigh it seriously. Our honest position is that the mechanism is valuable and the diagnosis is more valuable, and the ideal arrangement for such a student is often the school's own revision sessions plus a short individual diagnostic block.

The in-home option occupies an odd middle ground for revision specifically. It costs the most per hour, at a published AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the rate, and it narrows the specialist pool to whoever will drive to your community in the hours a DP2 student is free. For content coverage it works perfectly well. For criteria-level script analysis in a Higher Level science, it is the format least likely to find you the right person.

06

Regulators, timetables and the week revision actually has

Dubai private schools are overseen by KHDA, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Its annual inspections run on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak, and the published report for your child's school often comments at department level, which is useful context when judging whether a subject's revision provision is strong.

KHDA also determines part of the week. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit and schools permitted to vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met. Separate classes are required for Arab and non-Arab students in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies. For a revising DP2 student those lessons are fixed, and the revision plan has to fit around them rather than assume them away.

The sector's scale is worth knowing when judging how crowded revision provision is: 387,441 students across 227 private schools in Dubai in 2024-25, with seven new schools for the 2026-27 intake, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, adding 16,846 places. Demand for revision support concentrates into the same few weeks across all of them, which is why booking a specialist in January is harder than booking one in October.

On the regulation of tutors: private tuition in the UAE runs on the MoHRE private tutor work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, with eligible categories including registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Tutoring without a permit carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws, with no published fine schedule. A tuition centre with premises needs a separate KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a different thing. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or Ministry endorsement and claims none.

07

Choosing a revision provider in Dubai: what to ask

  • Ask whether a marked script will be read before any recommendation
  • Ask for the actual group size, as a number
  • Ask whether marking is included or extra
  • Ask which assessment the content is built around

Five questions separate a useful revision purchase from an expensive one, and all five are answerable before any money changes hands. The first is whether the provider will look at a marked script before recommending anything. A provider who recommends a package without seeing evidence is selling a product rather than solving a problem.

The second is group size, if it is a class. 'Small group' is not a number, and the difference between four students and fourteen is the difference between some individual feedback and none. The third is whether marking is included: on a revision run the marking is the part that produces change, and providers differ on whether it sits inside the fee or outside it.

The fourth is which assessment the content is built around. A revision course serving a mixed curriculum room may spend a third of its time on material that does not match IB assessment, and a tutor who cannot name the paper weightings for the subject they are revising is not revising for the IB specifically. The fifth is what happens if the match is wrong, which should have a plain answer rather than a policy document.

Two red flags to weigh against those answers. Statistics with no sample, date or method behind them, including satisfaction percentages and star ratings, which appear widely in this market and mean nothing. And any grade guarantee, which cannot be honoured because boundaries are set after each session and performance varies on the day. We offer no guarantee and publish no results statistic, and we would treat a competitor's version of either as information about the rest of its claims.

08

Starting revision work, and what we will say first

Send the subject and level, the most recent marked paper, and how many weeks remain before the assessment that matters. With those three we can say whether the problem is content or technique, which determines whether a class or individual work is the better purchase, and whether a specialist in that subject and level is actually free.

We will tell you when a group course or the school's own revision sessions are the better buy. That happens most often with DP1 students who need coverage, and with students whose school already runs subject revision that nobody in the family has asked about. School-run sessions are usually included in fees, matched to the department's own teaching and mock scope, and are the cheapest revision available in the emirate.

The trial lesson is free with no condition beyond booking a time, and for revision we spend it on a real question from the student's own marked paper. That answers the only question worth answering in the first hour: can this tutor name precisely where the marks went and what to do differently. If the answer is unconvincing, stop there.

After that the plan is short by design. Revision blocks should end, not renew: once the patterned losses the script identified have gone, the marginal hour buys very little and we say so. For most Dubai DP2 students that is four to six sessions in one subject, not a term of weekly classes, and the honest version of this market is that the cheaper purchase is usually the smaller one.

Where we tutor

Where revision courses run in Dubai

Group revision provision is concentrated in particular parts of the city, which matters if a family is considering a centre-based course rather than online work.

Al Barsha and Barsha Heights

The densest concentration of tuition centres in the emirate, with several running holiday revision programmes. Convenient for families nearby and a significant commute for everyone else.

Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim

Centre provision along the coastal corridor, mostly aimed at British-curriculum cohorts. IB-specific group courses are harder to find here than IGCSE ones.

Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers

Several centres in the towers, with small-group formats more common than large holiday courses. Evening slots fill quickly in the weeks before mocks.

Business Bay and Downtown

Centre-based provision aimed at a commuting market. A 5pm class means leaving school and crossing traffic, which is the hidden cost of a centre course.

Mirdif and Al Qusais

Established centre provision serving mixed curricula, with Indian-curriculum coaching more common than IB-specific courses. Travel time is the main constraint.

Dubai Hills Estate and Arabian Ranches

Villa communities with little centre provision nearby, so a group course usually means a long drive at the busiest hour. Online one-to-one is often the pragmatic choice here.

Silicon Oasis and Academic City

Close to several institutions, with some group tutoring available. Useful for families already travelling to this part of the city for school.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Al Furjan

Fast-growing residential areas with newer centres appearing. IB Diploma group provision remains thin compared with IGCSE, so individual work is often the only option.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Dubai schools that run their own revision programmes

Many Dubai schools run internal revision sessions for their own students in the weeks before mocks and the May session, often free of charge. Ask what the school provides before paying for anything external; it is the cheapest revision available and it is matched to the school's own teaching.

  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Raffles World Academy
  • Deira International School
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches

Schools where Diploma cohorts are smaller

In smaller Diploma cohorts the school may not run subject-specific revision at all, simply because the group is too small to justify it. Those are the students for whom external support makes the most difference, and the ones most likely to be offered a group course designed for a different curriculum.

  • Dwight School Dubai
  • Uptown International School
  • Greenfield International School
  • Fairgreen International School
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

Schools are named only as local context for Dubai families comparing revision provision; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send a marked paper and the weeks remaining

Subject, level, the most recent marked script and the date of the next assessment that matters. Those three facts separate a content problem from a technique problem, which decides whether a class or individual work is the right purchase.

  2. 02

Ask the school what it already provides

Many Dubai schools run their own subject revision before mocks and the May session, usually included in fees and matched to their own teaching. It is the cheapest revision available and families routinely pay for an external course without checking.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

One live session on a real question from your child's own paper, with no condition beyond finding a time. It tests whether the tutor can name exactly where the marks went, which is the whole difference between individual work and a class.

  4. 04

Agree a short block, not a term

Revision blocks are designed to end. Four to six sessions aimed at the losses the script identified, with marked practice in between, is the usual shape for a DP2 student after mocks.

  5. 05

    Review on marks, then stop

Progress is checked against a new marked paper rather than impressions. Once the patterned losses have gone, we say so and the block ends rather than renewing by default.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Cost compared per student

Group courses, small groups and one-to-one are different products at very different prices per student. We set out the published market figures with their source, including the hidden costs of travel and prepaid missed days.

Diagnosis is the thing being bought

A class cannot read your child's script, and two students with the same grade can have opposite problems. Individual revision exists to find which one you have, from the marked paper rather than from a conversation.

We point to cheaper options when they fit

School-run revision and group courses are sometimes the better purchase, particularly for DP1 content coverage. We say so, including when it means the right answer is not to book with us.

The core gets covered

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay carry up to three points and appear in no Dubai revision course we have seen. Individual feedback on the student's own drafts is the only format that reaches them.

Blocks designed to end

Once the patterned losses have gone, the marginal hour buys little. We review on marks and close the block rather than letting a weekly slot renew for a term by default.

No guarantees, no unsourced figures

Boundaries are set after each session, so no grade can be promised and we promise none. We publish no satisfaction or results statistic without a sample, date and method, and we claim no regulator endorsement.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

Are group revision classes in Dubai cheaper than one-to-one?+

Per student, yes, because the tutor's hourly fee is divided across the room. Published Dubai one-to-one rates read in October 2026 run AED 150 to 300 an hour for a qualified online subject tutor and AED 200 to 450 and above for IB specialists, while group formats price below that per student. The arithmetic is genuine. What changes with group size is attention: in a room of twelve no individual script is read, and if your child's problem is an individual pattern of lost marks, the cheaper product does not address it.

When is a group revision course actually the right choice?+

When the problem is content coverage rather than technique. A DP1 student who has genuine gaps across a subject, or a student who needs the social pressure of other people working in the room, is well served by a class and badly served by paying specialist one-to-one rates for teaching a group could deliver. The marked script tells you which case you are in: evenly spread losses across unfamiliar content point to a class, while patterned losses on command terms or method point to individual work.

Does my child's school already run revision sessions?+

Many Dubai schools do, in the weeks before mocks and the May session, usually included in fees and often not advertised to parents. They are the cheapest revision available and they are matched to the department's own teaching and to the mock scope, which no external course can claim. Ask the subject teacher or the Diploma coordinator before paying for anything outside. Families regularly buy an external course while a school session in the same subject runs in the same week unattended.

How many past papers should a DP2 student do before the May session?+

As many full papers under timed conditions as the calendar allows, with marking in between, which is why the start date matters more than the weekly hour count. Three papers marked and worked through properly beat ten sat and filed. The method is: sit it under real timing without notes, mark it against the published scheme, classify every lost mark as content, command term, method or time, then spend the next session on whichever class of loss was largest. Most students skip the classification step, which is the step that produces a plan.

What should a revision plan contain in the final six weeks?+

Full papers and error review, with content teaching closed off. By that point new material is the wrong activity: it displaces the practice that converts knowledge into marks and it rarely sticks. The highest-value pattern is a full paper under timed conditions, marked, then a session spent entirely on the errors it produced, repeated. Dubai families often treat the spring break as the main revision window and fill it with topic coverage, which is spending the most valuable fortnight of the year on the least valuable activity.

Can revision classes help with Theory of Knowledge or the Extended Essay?+

In practice, no, and this is the clearest gap in Dubai's revision market. The core carries up to three points through the IB's published matrix, and both components are written coursework assessed against criteria rather than examinable content, so no group course we have seen addresses them. They need individual feedback on the student's own draft. Families who buy only group revision frequently leave three points unmanaged, which is often the cheapest improvement available in the whole Diploma for the smallest number of hours.

Do you run IB revision classes in Dubai yourselves?+

No. IB Gram's UAE model is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, and we do not run group classes in the emirate or send tutors to homes; home visits are a service we offer only in India. The reason is that revision which moves a grade is built on one student's marked script, and the specialist who can read that script for a Higher Level subject is defined by what they know rather than where they live. Where a group course is the better purchase, we will say so.

What is the hidden cost of a centre-based revision course?+

Travel and prepaid absence, mostly. A 5pm class means leaving school and crossing Dubai at the worst hour, which for a family in Arabian Ranches or Dubai Hills can be an hour each way, and that hour is revision time spent in a car. Holiday courses are usually sold as a fixed block, so a missed day is still a paid day. And a course serving a mixed-curriculum room may spend a share of its time on material that does not match IB assessment at all, which is the cost nobody itemises.

How do I judge whether a revision tutor knows the IB specifically?+

Ask them to name the assessment structure for the subject and level in question: the papers, roughly what each is worth, and where in the mark scheme marks are most commonly lost. A tutor who can do that is revising for the IB. One who talks in general terms about confidence and exam strategy is revising for an exam in the abstract. Also ask whether they will read a marked script before recommending a plan, and whether marking is included in the fee or charged separately.

Is the winter break a good time for IB revision in Dubai?+

It is the most decisive fortnight of the DP2 year, and the decision is made in November rather than in December. The break usually sits inside or immediately beside the mock window, so it becomes either lost momentum or the single most productive block available. The highest-value use is diagnosis and repair: read the marked mock, identify the patterned losses, and work on those specifically. Because sessions run over live video, families who travel can continue from wherever they are rather than pausing by accident.

Can one revision block cover two subjects at once?+

It can, but sequencing them usually works better than running them in parallel. A DP2 student with school, the KHDA mandatory subjects on the timetable and an Internal Assessment in progress has limited capacity, and two subjects plus marked practice in each fills it. Three means none is done properly. If two subjects genuinely need work we would normally start with the one where the script shows technique losses rather than content gaps, because technique moves faster and the early win changes how the student approaches the second subject.

Will sessions run during Ramadan and the school breaks?+

Yes, with the timing moved deliberately. Ramadan brings shortened school days and a different household rhythm, and recurring slots commonly shift to a post-Iftar time, which many students prefer because evening focus is often better than late-afternoon focus. Dubai families travel over the winter and spring breaks, and because every session runs over live video a student can continue from wherever they are, or pause and resume on a plan rather than by drift. All scheduling is in Gulf Standard Time.

How long should a revision block last?+

Shorter than most families expect. For a DP2 student whose mock has been returned, four to six sessions in one subject aimed at the losses the script identified is the usual shape, not a term of weekly classes. Blocks should be designed to end: once the patterned losses have gone, the marginal hour buys very little, and we raise that at the review rather than letting a slot renew by default. A student with genuine content gaps across a syllabus is a different and longer case.

Can a revision provider promise a grade improvement?+

No, and one that does is making a claim it cannot honour. Grade boundaries are set after each session and move with the difficulty of the paper, and performance on the day varies for reasons nobody controls. Treat satisfaction percentages, star ratings and improvement statistics with no stated sample, date or method as decoration; they are common in this market and they mean nothing. What revision can honestly offer is the removal of patterned, diagnosable losses, which is the part a marked script makes visible and actionable.

Buy the product the script calls for

Revision in Dubai is sold as three different products at three very different prices, and the marked paper tells you which one your child needs. Send the subject, the level, the most recent marked script and the weeks remaining, and we will say whether the problem is content or technique, whether a group course or the school's own sessions would serve you better, and whether a specialist in that subject is free. The trial lesson is free and runs on a real question from your child's own paper, one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time.
