IGCSE Revision Classes in Dubai

IGCSE revision classes in Dubai are usually bought to solve a problem that is really about triage: a Year 11 student sitting nine or ten subjects cannot revise all of them properly, and choosing badly costs more than any fee. This page is about choosing, scheduling and revising for the right board's papers. IB Gram works one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time.

  • Subject triage before any sessions are booked
  • Cambridge and Pearson revised separately, by code
  • A weekly retrieval schedule the student can hold

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Nine subjects, one term: the triage problem

A Dubai Year 11 student sitting nine or ten IGCSEs has roughly the same number of revision weeks as a student sitting five, and no plan makes that arithmetic disappear. The most consequential revision decision a family makes is therefore not which provider to use but which subjects get real attention and which get maintenance. Families who refuse that decision end up giving every subject a thin slice, which is the one approach that reliably moves nothing.

Triage needs three pieces of information per subject, and all three are free. The first is the current marked position: not the predicted grade but the actual mock mark and where it sat relative to the boundary. The second is what the grade is for, because a subject needed for a sixth-form prerequisite or for the five-subject Ministry of Education equivalency count carries different weight from one taken for breadth. The third is how recoverable the marks are, which depends on whether the losses were technique or content.

Put those together and a ranking usually falls out quickly. Subjects a few marks below a needed threshold, with technique losses, go to the top: they are cheap to move and the move matters. Subjects already comfortably above what they are needed for go to maintenance. Subjects far below with broad content gaps are the hard cases, and the honest question is whether any amount of revision in the time available changes the outcome, or whether the November series is the better plan.

Dubai adds its own constraints to the week. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and those lessons continue through the revision term. School-run revision sessions, where they exist, are usually timetabled after school. What remains is the revision week a plan can actually use, and it is smaller than the one families write on a first draft.

There is a second decision hiding inside the first, which is what each chosen subject gets. Content coverage, command-term correction, timed pacing work and practical write-up technique are four different activities with different costs and different timescales, and a subject does not need all four. A student losing marks to answer shape in Biology does not need the syllabus retaught, and a student who has genuinely not learned electrolysis will not be rescued by more past papers. Matching the activity to the evidence is what keeps a nine-subject plan affordable.

IB Gram works one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. We do not run group classes in the UAE, and IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. Where a group course or the school's own revision sessions are the better purchase for a particular subject, we will say so, because on a nine-subject timetable most subjects should not be bought at all.

Revision at IGCSE looks different depending on where a student sits in the two-year course.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10

Revision here is consolidation for end-of-year assessments that often decide setting and tier. The content is half-taught, so past papers are only partly usable and topic-based retrieval practice is the better instrument.

A Year 10 summer assessment is the best early signal on tier in Dubai, and it arrives while a change from Core to Extended is still administratively straightforward. Revision bought in Year 10 is cheaper and more decisive than the same money spent in the Year 11 spring, and almost nobody buys it.

Y11AAges 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11, autumn to mocks

The content is still being completed in some subjects while mocks approach in others. Revision in this window should follow the school's scheme of work rather than the whole syllabus, because topics not yet taught cannot be revised.

Dubai mock windows run from November to January and differ between neighbouring schools by weeks. A revision plan copied from a friend at another school will be aimed at the wrong fortnight, which is a common and avoidable waste in this emirate.

Y11BAges 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11, mocks to the June series

The real revision term. Marked mocks make triage possible for the first time, coursework and practical components fall due, and the final weeks should be full papers under timed conditions rather than topic coverage.

This is when the Dubai revision market is loudest and when choosing becomes hardest. The spring break usually sits close enough to the June series that it should be spent on marked full papers, not on a topic course, and that distinction is worth more than any provider comparison.

POSTAges 16 and over

After the papers

Results arrive in August for the June series, and the November series is available as a resit route. Decisions at that point should be made on the component breakdown rather than on the grade, and narrowed to specific papers.

Pearson's published record shows June 2026 results reaching centres on 19 August 2026 and students the following day, with November 2025 results reaching students on 22 January 2026. That January timing matters if a Dubai sixth-form place or an equivalency submission depends on a resit grade.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below are the subjects Dubai families bring to us most, with the revision activity that actually moves each one.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 · Pearson 4MA1

Topic retrieval works for the standard content; the recoverable marks are usually in written method and in the final questions of the longer paper, which need timed practice with marking rather than more exercises.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Heaviest content load of the sciences for most Dubai cohorts. Moles calculations and electrolysis repay topic revision; qualitative analysis repays learning the exact terms the mark scheme names.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Electricity and circuits are where most marks go. Unit and prefix discipline is a checklist habit, and the practical write-up conventions can be learned in two or three sessions.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

The subject where command-term drills return the most marks per hour. Content revision alone moves little, because the usual loss is correct knowledge presented in the wrong answer shape.

English Language

Cambridge 0500 and 0990 · Pearson 4EA1

Cannot be revised by reading notes. Progress comes from marked timed responses, with attention to precise quotation and to register in directed writing.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

The summary task rewards strict adherence to word limits and own-words requirements. Listening paper marks are lost to answering from context rather than from what was actually said.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge 0455 and 0450 · Pearson 4EC1 and 4BS1

Diagrams respond to drill; the evaluation question responds to structure. Together they are the largest block of quickly recoverable marks available at IGCSE.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417 · Pearson 4CP0

Pseudocode conventions and trace tables are format learning rather than programming. A competent coder can gain several marks in a fortnight by writing algorithms the way the scheme expects.

Geography and History

Cambridge 0460 and 0470 · Pearson equivalents

Case-study and source-skill subjects where revision means practising the specific question formats. Content recall alone leaves the higher-mark questions unaddressed.

Arabic and Islamic Education

MoE-mandated alongside the licensed curriculum

Mandatory in all Dubai private schools whatever the licensed curriculum, with separate classes required for Arab and non-Arab students. They take timetable space through the revision term and are excluded from the five subjects counted for equivalency.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

We run three one-to-one revision shapes rather than classes, each matched to a different stage of the triage. All are delivered over live video.

Triage session

One session with the mock marks for every subject on the table, producing a written ranking: which subjects get real attention, which get maintenance, and which are better left to the school. Families frequently leave having decided to buy less than they came for.

  • All subjects reviewed, not just the obvious one
  • Ranked by marks needed and recoverability
  • Written plan the student can follow alone
  • Includes subjects we recommend not buying for

Single-subject revision block

Four to eight sessions in one subject, by syllabus code, aimed at the losses the marked paper identified. Timed work set and marked between sessions, with the agenda for each session set by the last marked piece rather than by a syllabus order.

  • Board-specific past papers only
  • Agenda set by the last marked paper
  • Marked written work every week
  • Designed to end rather than renew

Paper rotation run

The final phase: full papers under real timing, marked, with each session spent entirely on the errors the last paper produced. The highest-value activity in the last six weeks and the one least served by any class format.

  • Full-length papers at the real duration
  • Marked against the board's own scheme
  • Errors classified and worked through
  • Content teaching closed by this stage

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

How to triage nine subjects in one evening

Triage is a two-column exercise and it takes about an hour at a kitchen table. In the first column, for each subject, write the most recent marked mark and how far it sat below or above the grade the student needs. In the second, write what that grade is needed for: a sixth-form prerequisite, a university requirement, the five-subject equivalency count, or nothing in particular. Subjects with a large gap and a real requirement come first.

Then add a third judgement, which is where a marked paper is worth more than a report: how recoverable are the missing marks. Blank questions at the end of a paper mean pacing, which is weeks of work. Correct content scoring part marks means command terms, which is days. Low marks spread evenly across every topic mean the content was never secure, which is months. Two subjects with identical gaps can therefore sit at opposite ends of the ranking.

The output is usually three subjects for real attention, two or three for maintenance, and the rest left to school teaching and the student's own retrieval practice. That feels uncomfortable to write down and it is the single most useful document in a Dubai Year 11. Without it, revision defaults to whichever subject the student feels worst about that week, which is rarely the one where marks are cheapest to recover.

One important exception belongs in the ranking. A subject needed to complete the five accredited subjects at no less than grade E or 3 for the Ministry of Education's British equivalency track has a floor rather than a target, and Arabic and Islamic education are excluded from that count. Getting a borderline subject over a pass line can therefore be more valuable than lifting a strong subject one grade, and it is usually much faster work.

A revision week a Dubai Year 11 can actually hold

Most revision timetables fail because they are written for a week that does not exist. A Dubai Year 11 student is in school until mid-afternoon, has the KHDA mandatory subjects on the timetable, often has school-run revision after hours, and has a commute that in some communities is an hour each way. The honest planning unit is therefore four to six usable evening hours a week plus the weekend, not twenty.

Within that, the highest-return structure is short, frequent and retrieval-based rather than long and passive. Reading notes feels productive and produces little; answering questions from memory and then checking produces most of the gain. Forty minutes of recall practice in a subject, three times across a fortnight, beats a single three-hour session on the same material, and it fits a school week far better.

Full papers need protecting separately, because they cannot be done in forty-minute slices. One full paper a week at the real duration, at the weekend, marked, with the errors worked through on a weekday, is the pattern that produces visible movement in the spring term. That single paper plus its follow-up is worth more than four evenings of reading, and it is the activity families most often skip because it is uncomfortable.

The table sets out a workable shape. It deliberately assigns fewer subjects than a student sits, because that is the consequence of triage. It also protects two evenings entirely, which is not generosity: a Year 11 revising seven evenings a week in February is a Year 11 who stops revising in April.

Revising for the right board

Dubai schools use both Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, sometimes in the same building for different subjects, and the two are not interchangeable for revision purposes. Cambridge Mathematics 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 differ in paper structure, in formula provision and in question style. A term spent on the wrong board's past papers teaches habits that the real paper will not reward.

The code is printed on the entry statement, usually on the front of a mock paper, and generally in the school's subject handbook. If none is to hand, the subject teacher confirms it in a sentence. We ask for it before the first session, because it determines which papers are worth sitting and which revision guides are worth owning. Families often discover their child sits different boards for different subjects, which means the revision shelf needs to match subject by subject.

Pearson also runs a modular route in some subjects, where units can be sat across sessions rather than all at the end, while Cambridge is terminal by default. For revision planning that changes what is at stake in a given series: a modular candidate may hold a banked unit result, which alters where the remaining hours should go. Nobody can plan that without knowing which structure applies.

Two practical checks belong alongside the code. Confirm the tier, because in tiered subjects the lower tier carries a grade ceiling and revising for a top grade from a Core or Foundation entry is wasted effort. And confirm which grading scale the school reports on, since UAE centres use both A* to G and 9 to 1, so the target itself may be ambiguous until asked about.

What group courses cost per subject, and when they pay

Group courses look most attractive precisely when a student has nine subjects, because the arithmetic of one-to-one across that many is impossible for most households. That instinct is right in part. A group course divides a tutor's fee across the room, which is real value when what the student needs is content coverage in a subject they have genuinely not learned.

Published Dubai rates read in October 2026 set the frame. One-to-one with a qualified online subject tutor runs AED 150 to 300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150; specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above. In-home visits are AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the rate. Budget online providers publish from AED 33 to 65. Monthly comparators in the market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Group formats sit below the one-to-one figures per student by a margin that depends on class size.

The useful test is what the subject needs. Content coverage, taught to a room, is a legitimate group product and often the right purchase for a Dubai student who has fallen behind in a science. Command-term correction, method presentation, pacing, and the evaluation paragraph in Economics are individual findings from an individual script, and a class cannot address them because it does not know they exist. Buying a course to fix an individual pattern is how families end up paying twice.

Count the hidden costs before comparing. A centre course involves travel at the worst hour of a Dubai weekday, holiday courses are usually prepaid so a missed day is still a paid day, and a mixed-curriculum room may spend part of its time on material outside your child's specification. Against that, the cheapest revision in the emirate is the school's own sessions, which are usually included in fees and matched to the department's teaching, and which many families never ask about.

05

Coursework, practicals and the components nobody revises

  • Practical write-up conventions are learnable in two or three sessions
  • Coursework stays the student's own work; feedback only
  • Ask when oral and listening components fall and what they need
  • Board documents are linked at source, never redistributed

Every revision plan we see arrives with the written papers covered and the other components missing. In the sciences, practical skills are assessed either through a practical examination or an alternative-to-practical written paper with Cambridge depending on the centre, and within the written papers with Pearson. Either way, marks go on naming independent, dependent and control variables, describing apparatus precisely, and writing a procedure that could be repeated. That is a format to learn, and two or three sessions covers it.

Where coursework or controlled assessment exists, it must be the student's own work. A tutor can teach the skill, explain the marking criteria, discuss a plan and give feedback on a draft the student wrote; a tutor cannot write it, rewrite it or edit it to completion. Boards investigate malpractice and a finding can void a grade or a whole entry. One provider ranking in this sector sells completed assessed work in a different qualification at around AED 3,750, which is the same category of offer and the same exposure for the student.

Speaking and listening components in languages have their own arrangements, set by the centre, and they are frequently left out of revision entirely because they do not look like a paper. Ask the subject teacher when they fall and what they require. A student who has revised three written papers and not prepared for an oral has left marks on the table in the easiest component to prepare for.

On materials, we link to Cambridge and Pearson's own syllabus and timetable pages rather than redistributing papers, mark schemes or grade boundary tables, which belong to the boards. The school holds official copies and the subject teacher is the right route to the school's own mock papers. A provider offering a downloadable bank of board material is making a choice worth noticing.

06

The June series counted backwards

Cambridge runs IGCSE in June and November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series is offered to India only and has no bearing on a Dubai candidate. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For a Dubai Year 11 the June series is the main sitting, and the revision plan is built backwards from it.

Pearson's own published record shows the timeline: its November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so always plan from the live official timetable rather than from a restated date on any website.

Cambridge adds an administrative point with real consequences. Every centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. The school manages this; for a family, the rule is to work from the timetable the school issues rather than one found online.

Counted backwards, the shape is: mocks in November to January produce the triage; February and March are topic repair on the gaps the mocks exposed; the spring break and the weeks after are full papers under timed conditions with marking; and the final fortnight is error review from papers already sat, with nothing new introduced. Coursework and practical components fall in the spring term, before the papers, and need to be in the plan rather than beside it.

07

What a parent can check each week

  • Ask for the mark, not the impression
  • Ask which class of error cost the most marks
  • Confirm a full timed paper within the last fortnight
  • If slots are being missed, shrink the plan rather than raise the pressure

Revision is hard to supervise because it mostly looks the same whether it is working or not. Four weekly checks make it visible without turning the house into a monitoring exercise, and all four take a few minutes.

First, ask for the mark on the last marked piece of work, not the impression of it. A number can be compared to the previous number; a feeling cannot. Second, ask which class of error cost the most marks on it: content, command term, method, or time. A student who can answer that is revising diagnostically; one who cannot is revising by reading.

Third, confirm that a full paper has been sat at the real duration within the last fortnight, in the priority subjects. This is the check families skip and the one that catches pacing problems while there is still time. Fourth, look at the week's actual slots against the plan: if more than one has been missed, the plan was too ambitious rather than the student too lazy, and the plan should shrink rather than the pressure increase.

Those four checks also tell you whether external support is earning its fee. A tutor whose sessions produce marked work with classified errors is doing the job. A tutor who covers topics and sets no written work leaves you with nothing to check, and on a nine-subject timetable that is the kind of expense that quietly continues for a term without moving anything.

08

Starting IGCSE revision, with the triage first

Send the full subject list with the most recent marked mark for each, the syllabus codes if you have them, and the grades the intended sixth form requires. That is enough for a triage conversation, which is where any sensible plan starts and which usually results in buying less than a family expected.

We will name the subjects we think should be left to the school. On a nine or ten-subject timetable most subjects should be, and a provider that recommends support in all of them is selling rather than advising. The school's own revision sessions, usually included in fees and matched to the department's teaching, should be exhausted before any external purchase.

The trial lesson is free with no condition beyond booking a time, and for revision it is best spent on a real question from a marked paper in the top-priority subject. That tests the only thing worth testing early: whether the tutor can name exactly which marks went and what to do differently, by code and by mark scheme.

From there, blocks are short and designed to end. Four to eight sessions in one subject, with marked work every week and the agenda set by the last marked piece, is the usual shape. We review on marks and close the block when the patterned losses have gone, because a Year 11 with nine subjects cannot afford a standing order in one of them. If the marks are not moving after three sessions, the diagnosis was wrong and the plan changes rather than the hours increasing, and we will say that before you have to ask.

Where we tutor

Revision provision across Dubai

Where a family lives affects whether a centre course is practical and when sessions can realistically start.

Al Barsha and Barsha Heights

The densest cluster of tuition centres in Dubai, with IGCSE group courses easier to find here than IB ones. Convenient locally and a long drive from most villa communities.

Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim

Coastal corridor with established British schools, so school-run revision is usually available. Ask what the department already provides before buying anything external.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Al Furjan

Large Year 11 cohorts in newer schools, with Pearson entries common. Checking the syllabus code before buying revision guides matters more here than average.

The Springs and The Lakes

Students here frequently sit ten subjects, so triage is the main conversation. Weekend sessions suit the school-run pattern better than weekday evenings.

Mirdif and Al Warqa

Mixed curriculum provision with longer commutes. A centre course means crossing the city at the busiest hour, which turns an hour of revision into three hours out.

Dubai Hills Estate

Newer schools with growing cohorts and limited centre provision nearby. Online one-to-one is usually the practical option rather than a preference.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Shorter commutes make earlier weekday sessions feasible, which matters because the best revision happens before a student is tired.

Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers

Apartment households with compressed evenings and frequent travel. A recurring online slot survives the spring break; a centre course does not.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Dubai schools with their own revision programmes

Most established British-curriculum schools in Dubai run subject revision for their own students before mocks and the June series, often included in fees and matched to the department's own teaching and mock scope. It is the cheapest revision available and the first thing to ask about.

Newer schools with large Year 11 entries

Schools opened in the last decade now run full IGCSE cohorts, often split between Cambridge and Pearson. Revision provision varies and the board mix means a student's friends may be revising different papers for the same named subject.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the full subject list with marks

Every subject, the most recent marked mark, and the grade each one is needed for. Triage is impossible without the whole list, and the whole list is what reveals that two or three subjects deserve the attention rather than nine.

  2. 02

Confirm codes, tiers and the grading scale

Cambridge or Pearson, Core or Extended, A*-G or 9-1. Each one changes what should be revised and what grade is even available, and all three are answerable from the entry statement or the examinations office.

  3. 03

    Exhaust the school's own provision

School-run revision is usually included in fees and matched to the department's teaching and mock scope. It is the cheapest revision in the emirate and the one families most often fail to ask about before paying for a course.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial lesson

One live session on a real question from a marked paper in the top-priority subject. It tests whether the tutor can name the lost marks by mark scheme, which is the difference between individual revision and a class.

  5. 05

Run short blocks and check the marks

Four to eight sessions with marked written work every week and the agenda set by the last marked piece. The block closes when the patterned losses have gone rather than renewing by default.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Triage before purchase

A Year 11 sitting nine subjects cannot revise all of them properly. We rank the whole timetable by marks needed and recoverability, and we name the subjects that should be left to the school.

Revision by syllabus code

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are different papers with different schemes. Sessions use the code your child is entered for, which is the most common avoidable waste in Dubai revision terms.

Retrieval and timed papers, not reading

Short frequent recall practice plus one full timed paper a week, marked, is the structure that produces movement. Reading notes feels productive and moves little, and it is what most plans contain.

The components nobody revises

Practical write-up conventions, orals and coursework criteria are usually missing from revision plans and are among the cheapest marks available. They go into the plan rather than beside it.

Checkable weekly evidence

Marked work with classified errors every week, so a parent can see whether the fee is earning anything. A tutor who sets no written work leaves nothing to check for a whole term.

No guarantees, no claimed approvals

Boundaries are set by the boards after each series, so no grade can be promised and we promise none. IB Gram holds no KHDA, Ministry, Cambridge or Pearson endorsement and claims none.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

My child sits ten IGCSEs. How do we decide what to revise?+

Rank the whole list before buying anything. For each subject write the most recent marked mark, how far it sits from the grade that subject is actually needed for, and how recoverable the missing marks are from the script. Subjects a few marks short with technique losses come first because they are cheap to move and the move matters. Subjects already above what they are needed for go to maintenance. Subjects far below with broad content gaps are the hard cases, where November or a changed target may be the better answer than more hours.

How many hours a week can a Dubai Year 11 actually revise?+

Four to six usable evening hours plus the weekend is the honest planning unit, not twenty. A Year 11 student is in school until mid-afternoon, carries the KHDA mandatory subjects on the timetable, often has school-run revision after hours, and in some communities commutes an hour each way. Plans written for a larger week get abandoned by the second week, and the right response to missed slots is to shrink the plan rather than raise the pressure, because a student revising seven evenings a week in February stops revising in April.

Is reading notes a waste of revision time?+

Largely, yes, compared with the alternative. Reading feels productive because the material looks familiar, which is exactly the illusion that makes it ineffective. Answering questions from memory and then checking produces most of the gain, and it works best in short frequent sessions: forty minutes of recall in a subject three times across a fortnight beats a single three-hour reading session on the same content. The second non-negotiable is one full paper a week at the real duration, marked, which is the only way a pacing problem surfaces while it can still be fixed.

Does it matter which board's past papers we use?+

It matters more than almost anything else. Cambridge and Pearson papers differ in structure, formula provision and question style, so a term spent on the wrong board's papers teaches habits the real paper will not reward. The code is on the entry statement, usually on the mock paper's front page, and in the school's subject handbook; the subject teacher will confirm it in a sentence. Dubai students frequently sit different boards for different subjects, so the revision shelf needs checking subject by subject rather than once.

Are group revision courses worth it for IGCSE?+

For content coverage, often yes; for individual mark recovery, no. A group course divides the tutor's fee across the room, which is genuine value when a student has honestly not learned a topic and needs it taught. It cannot address command-term errors, unwritten method, pacing or a weak evaluation paragraph, because those are individual findings from an individual script and the class does not know they exist. Buying a course to fix an individual pattern is the most common way Dubai families end up paying for revision twice.

What does IGCSE revision cost in Dubai?+

Published rates read in October 2026 run AED 33 to 65 an hour at the budget online end, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150, and AED 200 to 450 and above for specialists. In-home visits are AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the rate, and monthly comparators include around AED 799 for eight online sessions. Group formats sit below the one-to-one figures per student depending on class size. Those are other providers' published figures, not ours.

Do you run group IGCSE revision classes?+

No. IB Gram's UAE model is one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, and we do not run group classes in the emirate or send tutors to homes; home visits are a service we offer only in India. The reasoning is that revision which moves a grade is built on one student's marked paper and the specific syllabus code they are entered for. Where a group course or the school's own sessions are the better purchase for a particular subject, we say so, and on a ten-subject timetable that applies to most subjects.

How do practical components fit into a revision plan?+

They need their own slot, and they are among the cheapest marks available. Cambridge assesses practical skills through a practical examination or an alternative-to-practical written paper depending on the centre, and Pearson assesses them within its written papers. Marks go on naming independent, dependent and control variables, describing apparatus precisely, and writing a procedure that could be repeated. Students who have done the experiments in a Dubai school laboratory still lose these marks on the page, and two or three sessions on the write-up format usually recovers them.

What should revision contain in the final six weeks before June?+

Full papers and error review, with content teaching closed off. New material at that stage displaces the practice that converts knowledge into marks and rarely sticks. The pattern that works is a full paper under real timing, marked against the board's scheme, then a session spent entirely on the errors it produced, repeated weekly. The Dubai spring break often falls close enough to the series that it should be used this way rather than for topic coverage, which is the single most common planning error we see.

How can I tell if revision is working without nagging?+

Four weekly questions. What was the mark on the last marked piece of work, as a number. Which class of error cost the most marks: content, command term, method or time. Has a full paper been sat at the real duration in the last fortnight in the priority subjects. And how many planned slots were actually used. Those four take minutes, they are checkable, and they also tell you whether any external tutor is earning their fee, because a tutor who sets no written work leaves nothing to check at all.

Should we buy revision support in Year 10 instead?+

If the budget is limited, often yes. A Year 10 summer assessment is the best early signal on tier, and it arrives while a move from Core to Extended is still administratively simple rather than contested. Work done in Year 10 also sits on content that is still being taught, so it compounds rather than repairs. The same money spent in the Year 11 spring buys fewer options and competes with nine subjects at once. Year 10 revision is the cheapest and most decisive purchase in this market, and almost nobody makes it.

Can a tutor help with IGCSE coursework during revision term?+

Within clear limits. A tutor can teach the underlying skill, explain the marking criteria, discuss the plan and give feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor cannot write it, rewrite it or edit it to completion, and a provider offering that exposes your child to a malpractice investigation that can void a grade or an entry. A reasonable parent test is whether the student can explain their own argument without notes a week later; if they cannot, the work was not theirs and the risk is theirs too.

What if a subject is only needed for the equivalency count?+

Then the target is a pass rather than a grade, and the plan shortens considerably. As reported in July 2026, the Ministry of Education's British track requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count. Getting a borderline subject over a pass line is often faster and more valuable than lifting a strong subject by one grade. Equivalency itself is a Ministry process that no tutoring provider performs or influences, so verify your own case officially.

Will sessions continue through Ramadan and the spring break?+

Yes, with the timing adjusted deliberately. Ramadan brings shortened school days and a changed household rhythm, and recurring slots commonly move to a post-Iftar time, which many students prefer because evening focus is often better than late-afternoon focus. Dubai families travel over the breaks, and because every session runs over live video a student can continue from wherever they are or pause and resume on a plan. For a Year 11 working to a fixed June deadline, planned pauses are far better than accidental ones.

Rank the subjects, then buy narrowly

The decision that matters in a Dubai Year 11 is which subjects get real revision and which get maintenance, and it is made with the whole subject list and the marked papers in front of you. Send the list with the most recent marks, the codes if you have them, and the grades the next stage requires. We will give you a ranking, name the subjects to leave to the school, and tell you whether a specialist in the top-priority subject is free. The trial lesson is free, one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.
