IB Chemistry Tutor in The Views

Families comparing what an IB chemistry tutor in The Views costs are almost always looking at the wrong number. An hourly rate tells you very little; a Diploma chemistry commitment is measured in months and in which component the money is aimed at. This page prices the whole thing, with the Dubai market figures and their sources, for households across Emirates Living. Lessons run live online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in The Views

Cost the Diploma, not the hour

A parent in The Views comparing tutors usually collects hourly rates. It is the obvious thing to compare and it is close to useless, because the hourly rate is the smallest variable in what you will actually spend. Two families can pay the same AED figure per hour and one spends four thousand dirhams across a Diploma while the other spends twenty-two thousand, because one bought ten sessions aimed at a named component and the other bought a weekly hour for two years aimed at chemistry in general.

So this page prices the real thing. Higher Level chemistry runs over two years with three distinct cost moments: the quantitative wall in the first term of DP1, the scientific investigation in the middle, and the extended-response paper in DP2. Each one has a different sensible spend, and knowing which one you are in tells you whether you need forty sessions or eight. Everything below is set out that way, with the Dubai market bands attributed to the providers who published them in October 2026.

The delivery arrangement is relevant to the money, so it belongs in the first paragraphs rather than the last. IB Gram does not send a tutor to an address in The Views or anywhere else in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run in India only. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time with the same tutor each week. The market quotes in-home one-to-one visits in Dubai at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified online subject tutor, and the gap is the car rather than the chemistry. In a tower community where visitor bays fill by 18:00, part of a booked in-home hour also disappears into access and an early departure.

There is a second reason online matters for this subject specifically, and it is about value rather than convenience. Chemistry tutoring is heavily diagrammatic: a reaction mechanism drawn one arrow at a time, an energy profile annotated, a titration dataset processed with its uncertainties propagating in front of the student. On a shared screen those are built, corrected and saved for the following week. The same work on a sheet of paper across a dining table is gone by Thursday, and a family paying AED 250 an hour for work that cannot be revisited is paying twice for the same explanation.

What follows is the honest version of a pricing page. It gives the market bands and what each one includes. It names four specific ways families in this community overspend, including the most common one, which is buying a weekly hour as insurance rather than as treatment. It prices the investigation block, shows which examination component returns the most per paid hour, puts tutoring spend next to the one school-fee fact KHDA has fixed for 2026-27, and ends with the section no tutoring page writes: the signals that an arrangement has done its job and should stop.

We publish no fixed price list of our own on these pages, because a ten-session organic mechanisms block and a two-year weekly arrangement are not the same product and pretending they are is how families overspend. Your quote follows a free first lesson, one per family, about thirty minutes, with no charge and no card details taken. We guarantee no grade, publish no examination dates, and claim no approval from the IB, KHDA or the Ministry of Education, because IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and holds none.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Chemistry costs different amounts at different points in a Views student's path, because the thing going wrong changes. These are the four stages where money gets spent on this subject.

DP HLAges 16-19 · 240 taught hours

Chemistry, Higher Level

The full Structure and Reactivity content taken to additional depth, with Paper 1 at 36% split between a multiple-choice section and a data-based section, Paper 2 at 44% in extended response, and the scientific investigation at 20%. Organic mechanisms, energetics and equilibrium carry most of the lost marks and therefore most of the tutoring spend.

The level most Views students on chemistry are taking, because the subject travels with medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and engineering intentions. It is also the most expensive Diploma subject to support badly, since a weekly hour held for two years without a target is the commonest overspend we see from this community.

DP SLAges 16-19 · 150 taught hours

Chemistry, Standard Level

The same organisation at reduced depth, with the same assessment weightings and the same investigation out of twenty-four marks. The quantitative content is lighter, which changes the economics: Standard Level problems are more often content gaps than technique failures, and content gaps are cheaper to fix early than late.

Often a better purchase than Higher Level for a Views student who needs a second science without a chemistry-dependent degree in mind. Where the only reason for Higher Level is a university requirement nobody has checked, checking it first is the cheapest piece of advice on this page.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

MYP Sciences before the Diploma

Criterion-based science assessment with no percentage marks. Students arrive in Diploma chemistry comfortable with investigation design and uncomfortable with calculation, because the criteria reward process and the Diploma rewards quantitative precision under timing.

The cheapest intervention point in this entire subject. Six to eight sessions of moles, concentration and proportional reasoning in Year 11 or the summer after it prevents the expensive DP1 crisis, and almost nobody buys it because nothing has visibly gone wrong yet.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Chemistry into the Diploma

Cambridge 0620 or Pearson 4CH1 before the Diploma. Both assume formulas are given and applied rather than reasoned from. Neither prepares a student for the extended-response demands of Diploma Paper 2, where a correct product earns little without the mechanism or the justification around it.

An Extended grade 7 in IGCSE chemistry is a reasonable result and a weak predictor of Higher Level comfort. The stronger predictor is confidence with ratio and proportion, because moles work is proportional reasoning wearing a lab coat and it is where DP1 separates students.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Chemistry is rarely the only line in a Views tutoring budget. These are the subjects most often paid for alongside it, and what each one costs in practice.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms, energetics and equilibrium take most of the paid hours. The expensive mistake is funding content revision when the marks are being lost to extended-response writing, which is a different and much shorter piece of work.

Biology

HL and SL

The usual companion for medicine candidates. Volume rather than difficulty, so it responds to disciplined revision more than to teaching, which makes it the subject where supervision at the lower AED band is most often the correct purchase.

Physics

HL and SL

Shares the assessment model and the single investigation. A student taking chemistry and physics has two investigations in the same DP1 window, which is a scheduling cost before it is a teaching cost.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Supports the quantitative half of chemistry properly. Where a student stalls on rearranging rather than on the chemistry, paying for mathematics is cheaper and faster than paying for more chemistry.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Lighter on algebraic manipulation, which shows up inside chemistry calculations. Worth diagnosing before buying chemistry hours, because the money is otherwise aimed at a symptom.

Environmental Systems and Societies

SL

Sometimes taken instead of a second Higher Level science, and a genuinely cheaper subject to support because its assessment rewards structured writing rather than quantitative precision.

Economics

HL and SL

A frequent third request. The three internal assessment commentaries make it a predictable, budgetable piece of work rather than an open-ended one, which is unusual among Diploma subjects.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 unseen analysis and the Individual Oral. Paid hours here go furthest when they target one of the two components rather than reading more widely, which is free and does not need a tutor.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Up to three Diploma points from the core, and the cheapest points available because the essay responds to structural coaching. Chemistry students often make strong TOK candidates and rarely realise it.

The scientific investigation

Internal assessment, 20%

One investigation, twenty-four marks, four criteria of six. A well-defined block of four to eight sessions, which makes it the easiest part of a Diploma to budget for accurately.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three session shapes cover almost every chemistry booking from this community, and they are priced very differently because they are different quantities of work rather than different qualities of it.

Targeted block, four to ten sessions

The cheapest arrangement that actually changes a grade, and the one most Views families should start with. One named target agreed before the first lesson: organic mechanisms, energetics, the data-based section, or extended-response technique. It ends when the target is met rather than when the term does.

  • 4-10 sessions, one named component, agreed in advance
  • Progress judged against the target, not against a feeling
  • No ongoing commitment when the block finishes
  • The right first purchase for most households

Investigation support block

Four to eight sessions across the weeks the scientific investigation is designed and written, timed to the school's own interim deadlines. Predictable in length and therefore easy to budget, which makes it the one part of a Diploma where a family can know the cost in advance.

  • 4-8 sessions, planned around the school's checkpoints
  • Four criteria taught with the mark allocation shown
  • Feedback on the student's own drafts; nothing written for them
  • The school's supervisor stays in charge throughout

Weekly hour, held across a Diploma year

The most expensive option and sometimes the right one. Appropriate where a student has a genuine foundation gap in quantitative chemistry that needs time rather than intensity. Not appropriate as insurance, which is the commonest reason it gets bought.

  • 60 minutes, one fixed evening, held across terms
  • Only sensible where the problem is foundational
  • Reviewed every six weeks against the session notes
  • Should taper once the gap is closed rather than continuing

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in The Views

01

A Higher Level chemistry year, priced by phase

The useful way to budget for Diploma chemistry is to split the two years into the phases where something specific goes wrong, and to attach a realistic quantity of support to each. Done that way, the total is both lower and more predictable than a weekly hour maintained from September of DP1 to May of DP2 out of caution.

The first phase is the quantitative wall, which arrives in the first term of DP1. Moles, concentration, limiting reagents and the arithmetic of titration calculations are where a student with a comfortable IGCSE grade discovers that applying a given formula and reasoning from a proportional relationship are different skills. This phase responds to a short, dense block: six to ten sessions, finished and stopped. Left untreated, it contaminates everything afterwards, which is why it is the one phase where spending early is unambiguously cheaper.

The second phase is organic chemistry and mechanisms, usually in the second and third terms of DP1, overlapping the scientific investigation. The investigation itself is the most budgetable item in the whole Diploma, because its scope is fixed: four criteria, twenty-four marks, a known deadline, four to eight sessions. The third phase is DP2, where the money should shift away from content entirely and towards extended-response writing and past papers under timing.

The table prices those phases against the published Dubai bands. Read it as a planning document rather than a quotation: it shows which phase you are in, what quantity of support that phase actually needs, and roughly what the market charges for that quantity. The total across two years in the specialist band comes out well below what a continuous weekly hour costs over the same period, and it buys more, because every session has a target.

The Dubai bands, and what each one actually includes

A rate on its own means nothing without knowing what sits inside it. Across the Dubai market the same hourly figure can include marked work between sessions, written notes and a tutor who reads your child's school materials, or it can include an hour of talking and nothing else. The bands below are other providers' published figures as read in October 2026, with what the band typically covers.

Online supervision from university-student tutors is advertised from roughly AED 33 to AED 52 an hour by Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 by EdFlik. Qualified online subject tutoring begins around AED 150, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Named IB specialists are quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, TutorChase at AED 270, with Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table reaching AED 450 or more at the specialist end and premium examiner-led tutoring quoted at AED 650 by BartyED. In-home one-to-one visits run AED 180 to AED 500 including travel, with Bestimate's common band AED 180 to AED 350.

Three questions turn a rate into a price you can compare. Is the figure per hour or per session, because a fifty-minute session quoted hourly is a sixth of your money. Is marking between sessions included, because for chemistry extended-response work that is where much of the value sits. And does the tutor work from your child's school materials and deadlines, or from their own scheme, because a tutor teaching a different order from the school doubles the student's load rather than halving it.

The fourth question is the uncomfortable one: what happens to unused sessions in a monthly package. Advertised Dubai packages include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. A family that travels for half of March has paid for sessions it cannot take unless the terms say otherwise, and the terms are worth reading before the first payment rather than after the third.

Four ways Views families overspend on chemistry

  • A weekly hour with no named target, held for eighteen months
  • Specialist rates paid for what is really supervision
  • Content teaching bought when the marks are lost in extended-response writing
  • Investigation help arranged after the research question has been approved
  • Monthly packages bought without reading the rollover terms
  • Higher Level maintained for a university requirement nobody has checked

These are not hypothetical. They are the four patterns that account for most of the wasted money we see in this community, and all four are easy to avoid once named.

The first and largest is the weekly hour bought as insurance. A parent sees a grade 4 at the end of DP1 term one, books a weekly session, and keeps it for eighteen months because stopping feels risky. Nothing is targeted, so nothing is finished, and at the specialist monthly band of AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 that is a five-figure commitment in dirhams for work that a phased set of blocks would have done for a fraction. The test is simple: if nobody can say what the current block is for, it is insurance rather than treatment.

The second is paying specialist rates for supervision. A student who is not doing the practice does not need a better explanation, and an AED 270 hour spent watching them complete a problem set is the most expensive form of babysitting available in Dubai. The market prices supervision at AED 33 to AED 65 online for a reason. Diagnose which one your child needs by looking at a marked assessment: marks lost on unattempted work is a supervision problem, the same error repeated three times is a teaching problem.

The third is funding content when the loss is in writing. Paper 2 carries 44% of the chemistry grade and awards marks to steps in an argument. A student who knows the chemistry and writes the conclusion without the reasoning loses most of those marks, and no amount of further content teaching recovers them. This is the single most common misdirected spend in DP2, and the fix is eight to twelve sessions of writing answers under timing and having them marked immediately.

The fourth is starting the investigation support too late. Once a research question has been approved and data collected, the room to improve the design criterion has gone, and a late block can only tidy the analysis and evaluation. The same money spent three weeks earlier, on pressure-testing the question before it was submitted, protects twice as many marks.

04

Organic chemistry: why it consumes the most paid hours

Across the Diploma chemistry students we see from Emirates Living, organic chemistry takes more paid hours than any other part of the course, and a large share of those hours are spent badly. Understanding why changes how much it costs to fix.

The core problem is that organic chemistry is usually learned as a list and assessed as a reasoning task. A student memorises that a halogenoalkane with hydroxide gives an alcohol, and can reproduce it. The paper then asks why one pathway dominates over another, or what the mechanism implies about the structure of the product, and the list provides nothing. Each memorised reaction is a separate fact to a student working this way, which means the revision load grows linearly while the marks do not, and that is what turns organic chemistry into an apparently bottomless demand for sessions.

Taught as mechanisms rather than outcomes, the same content collapses into a handful of patterns about where electrons come from and where they go. That is a genuinely different teaching job, it takes eight to twelve sessions rather than an open-ended commitment, and it is the main reason a chemistry specialist is worth more per hour than a general science tutor. A tutor who draws the arrows one at a time on a shared whiteboard, has the student redraw them, and saves the file for revision is doing something a list cannot do.

It is also where the choice of band matters most. Supervision at AED 50 an hour cannot teach mechanisms, because the work requires somebody who can answer why rather than confirm whether. At the other end, a premium examiner-led rate buys nothing additional here: the content is well defined and the teaching requirement is skill rather than privileged knowledge. The named-specialist band at AED 200 to AED 300 is where this work sits, and twelve sessions in that band is a far smaller number than most families expect once they stop thinking in terms of a standing weekly hour.

05

Value per paid hour, component by component

If a family has a limited number of sessions to buy, the question is which component returns the most marks for each one. The answer is not evenly distributed, and it changes with how far through the Diploma a student is.

Extended response on Paper 2 is the highest-return target for most DP2 students. It carries 44% of the grade, the losses are structural rather than knowledge-based, and the remedy is mechanical: write answers under timing, mark them immediately against the real allocation, repeat. Eight to twelve sessions typically produces visible movement, because the same fault appears in every question and fixing it once fixes all of them.

The data-based section of Paper 1 is the second-best target and the most under-bought. It rewards graph work, uncertainty handling and saying what a gradient or an anomaly actually means, and schools cover those skills early and then assume them. A short block here is cheap and it pays twice, because the same skills carry marks in the investigation.

At the other end, multiple choice is a poor target for paid hours, because the fix is volume of timed practice rather than teaching, and a student can do that alone. And content revision across whole themes is the weakest use of money in DP2 specifically, because there is not enough time to rebuild a foundation and the marks available from technique are larger. In DP1 the ranking reverses: content and the quantitative foundation are the right targets, and Paper 2 technique is premature.

06

What investigation supervision should and should not cost

The scientific investigation is 20% of the chemistry grade, marked out of twenty-four across four criteria of six marks each: research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Because its scope is fixed, it is the only part of a Diploma where a family can genuinely know the cost in advance, and that makes it worth treating as a defined purchase rather than part of a rolling arrangement.

A realistic block is four to eight sessions. One or two before the research question is submitted, pressure-testing whether it yields a measurable relationship with equipment the school actually has. One or two on the method and on how the uncertainties will be handled, which is the difference between a data-analysis criterion that holds up and one that does not. Two or three on the student's own drafts, with feedback on which criterion is underserved. At the named-specialist band that is roughly AED 1,000 to AED 2,400 across the whole component, which is a knowable number.

What should not cost anything is the part some of this market sells. There are sites in this region selling completed internal assessments at published prices, and buying one is academic malpractice under the IB's own rules. The consequence falls on the student rather than the seller and it can be the loss of the Diploma. No part of what IB Gram arranges goes near that. A tutor teaches the published criteria, helps narrow a question, demonstrates a technique on entirely different data, and reads a draft the student wrote. A tutor does not write, rewrite, or supply data or conclusions.

The timing point is worth repeating because it is a money point as much as an academic one. Help bought before the research question is approved protects all four criteria. Help bought after data collection can only tidy two of them, and the same spend therefore buys half as much. If you are going to fund one block in DP1, fund this one and fund it early.

Tutoring spend in context, and the one number KHDA has fixed

Tutoring costs read very differently next to the other education numbers in a Dubai household budget, and one of those numbers has recently been fixed. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a Views family that is a known quantity in a budget where most lines are not.

The scale of the market around that decision is worth knowing too. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum accounting for 37% of enrolment, Indian 26%, US 14% and the International Baccalaureate 7%. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose by 6%.

Against that, tutoring is a smaller and more controllable line than most families treat it as. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai monthly estimates for one weekly hour run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. The phased approach in the first table on this page lands well under the continuous version while targeting more. The honest framing is that chemistry tutoring is a discretionary purchase that should be bought in defined quantities, not a fixed cost of attending a Dubai school.

Two figures deliberately do not appear here. We publish no school fee band, because fees vary enormously by school and KHDA publishes them per school; look them up there rather than trusting a figure on a tutoring page. And we publish no examination entry fee, because entry as a private candidate is arranged and priced through a centre and we have no sourced figure to quote. Where we cannot source a number, it is left out rather than estimated.

Where to stop paying: the signals an arrangement has finished

  • Week ten notes describing the same weakness as week three: change, do not extend
  • Notes moved on but the current target vague: stop and test whether the gain holds
  • A student arriving with no questions: you are paying for attendance
  • The named target met: the block is finished, whatever the calendar says
  • Pausing is a legitimate test, because grades lag teaching by a few weeks
  • Money saved in DP1 buys a higher-return block in DP2 term one

No tutoring page writes this section, which is why it is the most useful one here. An arrangement that should have ended in February and runs until May is the single largest avoidable cost in a Diploma, and the signals that it is finished are recognisable if somebody tells you what to look for.

The first signal is in the session notes. If the note from week ten is describing the same weakness as the note from week three, the arrangement is not working and more of it will not help; the answer is a different tutor or a different target, not another term. If the notes have moved on and the current target is vague, the block has done its job and the honest move is to stop and see whether the gain holds. Chemistry grades lag teaching by a few weeks, so a pause is a legitimate test rather than a risk.

The second signal is the student. A child who arrives at a session with specific questions is getting value. A child who arrives with nothing and waits to be taught has either outgrown the arrangement or never needed it, and in both cases the money is buying attendance. This is a harder conversation than a scheduling one, and it is worth having at the six-week mark rather than the six-month mark.

The third is the arithmetic. If the target was organic mechanisms and the student can now reason from a mechanism to a product rather than recall a list, the thing you paid for has happened. Keeping the slot because exams are coming converts treatment back into insurance, at AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 a month in the specialist band. The better use of that money is to hold it until DP2 term one, when extended-response work becomes the highest-return target in the whole course, and to buy a defined block then.

09

Starting from The Views without overspending

Begin by deciding what you are buying, which is a question almost nobody is asked. Is the problem a quantitative foundation, a body of content, a piece of assessed work, or the way answers are written? Those are four different purchases at four different prices, and buying the wrong one for two terms costs more than any hourly rate difference in this market.

The fastest way to find out is a marked script. A recent assessment or mock with the marks on it shows whether the loss is in recall, in calculation, in the data-based section or in extended-response writing. Bring it to the free first lesson, which is one per family, about thirty minutes, with no charge and no card details taken. A tutor who reads the script and names the pattern has told you what to buy. A tutor who offers to work through the syllabus has not, and you have spent nothing establishing that.

Then buy a block rather than a subscription. Four to ten sessions with a named target, a review at the end, and a deliberate decision about whether to continue. That structure is harder to sell than a standing weekly hour and it is cheaper for the family and better for the student, because every session has to justify itself. If a weekly arrangement genuinely is the right answer, which happens where the foundation gap is real, it should be entered into knowingly rather than by default.

The limits, stated before anything is booked. Nobody travels to a UAE address; home visiting is an India-only service. We publish no fixed price list, no grade guarantee and no examination dates, because the IB's own site cannot be checked automatically and your school's coordinator is the only reliable source. We do not reproduce IB subject guides, past papers or mark schemes; we reference them. We do not write any part of an investigation. We claim no approval from the IB, KHDA or the Ministry of Education. And where no chemistry specialist is free in your slot, you get a realistic date instead of a general science tutor at the same price.

Where we tutor

Emirates Living and what tutoring costs across it

Rates do not vary much across these communities, but what families get for them does, because travel time and school finish times change how much of a paid hour is teaching. These are the neighbourhoods around The Views.

The Greens

Adjacent and sharing the same roads. Regent International School sits inside it, and students there lose nothing to travel, which makes the early evening hour fully usable and therefore better value.

The Meadows

Emirates International School Meadows runs the IB continuum. The short bus loop means a 16:45 start is realistic, which matters because the same money buys a more alert student.

Emirates Hills

Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills and Dubai British School Emirates Hills. Significant Diploma chemistry cohorts and the source of most Higher Level enquiries in this part of Dubai.

The Lakes

Villas across the golf course, driven rather than bussed. Later starts push sessions towards the second window of the evening, where attention is lower and the same AED rate buys less.

Al Sufouh

Dubai College and GEMS Wellington International School. Selective intakes mean the chemistry spend here is usually aimed at grade 6 to grade 7 technique rather than at rescue.

Al Barsha

Kings' School Al Barsha, Nord Anglia International School Dubai and American School of Dubai. Longer travel days, so weekend blocks are more common and often better value per dirham.

Barsha Heights

Group science classes run in the centres here. For shared Standard Level content they are genuinely cheaper; for Higher Level organic mechanisms they are not, because the problems are individual.

Dubai Internet City

The nearest metro station, which occasionally removes a parent's second drive of the day. That is an hour of somebody's time, which belongs in any honest cost comparison.

Jumeirah Lake Towers

One interchange away with its own prices. A tutor based there spends twenty to forty minutes crossing Interchange 5 at 18:00, and that time is priced into any in-home quote you receive.

Al Sufouh, Al Barsha and the Marina side

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Decide which of four things you are buying

A quantitative foundation, a body of content, a piece of assessed work, or the way answers are written. Those are four different purchases at four different prices, and buying the wrong one for two terms is the real cost risk.

  2. 02

    Send a marked script

A recent assessment or mock with marks on it shows whether the loss is in recall, calculation, the data-based section or extended-response writing. It costs nothing and it is the only reliable way to aim the money.

  3. 03

Agree a named target and a session count

Four to ten sessions with one stated objective, not an open subscription. A block that has to justify itself at the end is cheaper for you and more focused for your child than a standing weekly hour.

  4. 04

Free first lesson used as a diagnosis

One per family, about thirty minutes, no charge and no card details. It should end with the pattern named and the block outlined, including an honest answer if the real problem is mathematics rather than chemistry.

  5. 05

Review at the end of the block and decide

The session notes are the evidence. If the target is met, stop and test whether the gain holds; grades lag teaching by weeks. If the same weakness is still being described, change the approach rather than extending it.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Priced by phase, not by the hour

A Diploma chemistry commitment has three distinct cost moments, and planning against them lands well below a continuous weekly hour while targeting more. The first table on this page is the planning document.

Every band attributed to its publisher

All the AED figures here carry the provider or rate guide that published them in October 2026, so you can check any quote you receive against the market yourself rather than taking our word for it.

We name where the money gets wasted

The insurance weekly hour, specialist rates paid for supervision, content bought when the loss is in writing, and investigation help arranged after the question was approved. All four are avoidable once named.

Organic chemistry taught as mechanisms

Learned as a list, organic chemistry is a bottomless demand for sessions. Taught as patterns of electron movement it is eight to twelve sessions, which is the difference a specialist band actually buys.

The investigation treated as a fixed-scope block

Four criteria, twenty-four marks, a known deadline and four to eight sessions. It is the one part of a Diploma where the cost can be known in advance, and it is worth buying before the question is approved.

We tell you when to stop

An arrangement that should have finished in February and runs to May is the largest avoidable cost in a Diploma. The session notes make that visible, and pausing is a legitimate test rather than a risk.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in The Views: your questions answered

What does an IB chemistry tutor cost in this part of Dubai?+

Qualified online subject tutoring starts around AED 150 an hour, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. Named specialists are quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, TutorChase at AED 270, and premium examiner-led tutoring at AED 650 by BartyED. In-home visits run AED 180 to AED 500 including travel. Online supervision from student tutors is advertised from roughly AED 33 to AED 65. Those are other providers' published October 2026 figures, not ours. We publish no fixed price list, because a ten-session block and a two-year arrangement are not the same product.

Should I budget by the hour or by the term?+

By the phase, which is neither. Higher Level chemistry has three cost moments: the quantitative wall in the first term of DP1, the investigation in the middle of DP1, and extended-response technique in DP2. Each needs a defined block of roughly six to twelve sessions. Planned that way the two-year total sits well below a continuous weekly hour, which at the specialist monthly band of AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 runs to a five-figure commitment in dirhams across the same period and targets nothing in particular.

Is a weekly session for two years ever the right choice?+

Occasionally, where there is a genuine foundation gap in quantitative chemistry that needs time rather than intensity. It is the right answer far less often than it is bought. The test is whether anybody can say what the current block is for: if the answer is general reassurance, you are buying insurance rather than treatment. Enter a long weekly arrangement knowingly, review it every six weeks against the session notes, and taper it once the gap it was bought to close has closed.

Why is organic chemistry so expensive to fix?+

Because it is usually learned as a list and assessed as reasoning. A student who memorises that a particular reagent gives a particular product can reproduce it, and then the paper asks why one pathway dominates, and the list gives nothing. Every reaction is a separate fact, so the revision load grows without the marks following. Taught as patterns of electron movement instead, the same content becomes eight to twelve sessions rather than an open-ended demand, and that is what the specialist band is actually buying.

Which chemistry component gives the most marks per paid hour?+

In DP2, extended response on Paper 2, which carries 44% of the grade and where losses are structural rather than knowledge-based. Eight to twelve sessions of writing answers under timing and having them marked immediately usually produces visible movement, because the same fault repeats in every question. The second-best and most under-bought is the data-based section of Paper 1, which also pays into the investigation. In DP1 the ranking reverses: the quantitative foundation comes first.

How much should investigation support cost?+

At the named-specialist band, roughly AED 1,000 to AED 2,400 across the whole component, because the scope is fixed: four criteria, twenty-four marks, four to eight sessions. One or two before the research question is submitted, one or two on method and uncertainties, two or three on the student's own drafts. Timing changes the value more than the rate does. Bought before the question is approved it protects all four criteria; bought after data collection it can only tidy two of them.

Is it ever acceptable to buy a ready-made internal assessment?+

No, and you should treat any offer to do so as a warning about the provider. Sites in this region sell completed internal assessments at published prices. Buying one is academic malpractice under the IB's own rules, the consequence falls on your child rather than on the seller, and it can mean the loss of the Diploma. A tutor teaches the published criteria, helps narrow a question, demonstrates a technique on different data and gives feedback on drafts your child wrote. Nothing more than that.

Is a group chemistry class in Barsha Heights cheaper in real terms?+

For shared Standard Level content, genuinely yes, provided the students are at the same level with similar gaps. For Higher Level organic mechanisms, no, because the problems are individual and the class has to teach to an average. Count the full cost as well: a fifteen-minute drive each way at 17:30 plus waiting turns a sixty-minute class into a two-hour commitment for a parent, and that hour belongs in any honest comparison against an online session at the kitchen desk.

Does an in-home chemistry tutor cost more for the same teaching?+

Yes, and the premium is travel rather than expertise. The market quotes in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel included, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified online subject tutor. In a tower community the booked hour also shrinks: visitor bays in Emirates Living fill from about 18:00, and a tutor with a second booking across Interchange 5 starts watching the clock at the fifty-minute mark. You pay more and receive fewer teaching minutes.

How do I tell whether my child needs teaching or just supervision?+

Look at a marked assessment. If the lost marks are on work that was never attempted, you have a supervision problem and the market prices that at AED 33 to AED 65 an hour online. If the lost marks are on work that was attempted and came out wrong in the same way three times, you have a teaching problem and the named-specialist band is appropriate. Paying AED 270 an hour to watch a child complete a problem set is the most expensive mistake available in this market.

What questions should I ask before paying for the first session?+

Four. Is the figure per hour or per session, since a fifty-minute session priced hourly costs you a sixth more than you think. Is marking between sessions included, because for extended-response chemistry that is where much of the value sits. Will the tutor work from my child's school materials and deadlines or their own scheme. And what happens to unused sessions in a monthly package, because advertised Dubai packages run AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and families travel.

Are tutoring costs going up along with school fees in Dubai?+

School fees are the clearer picture: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase for private schools in the emirate for 2026-27, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Tutoring is unregulated by comparison and the published bands have a very wide spread, from roughly AED 33 to AED 650 an hour. That spread is why checking a quote against the published market, as the bands on this page let you do, is worth fifteen minutes.

When is the cheapest point to start chemistry support?+

The summer before DP1, or the first term of DP1 at the latest. Six to eight sessions on moles, concentration and proportional reasoning at that point prevents the problem that otherwise contaminates every topic afterwards, and almost nobody buys it because nothing has visibly gone wrong yet. The most expensive point to start is the second term of DP2, when there is no time to rebuild a foundation and the only remaining gains are in technique and timing.

How do we know when to stop paying for chemistry sessions?+

The session notes tell you. If the note from week ten describes the same weakness as week three, change the tutor or the target rather than extending the arrangement. If the notes have moved on but the current target is vague, the block has finished its job and pausing is a legitimate test, because grades lag teaching by a few weeks. A student arriving at sessions with no questions of their own is a third signal: at that point the money is buying attendance.

What happens if no chemistry specialist is free in our slot?+

You are told, with a date, and you are not charged to wait. Higher Level chemistry in the 17:00 to 18:00 window is one of the tighter combinations in Dubai, because every Emirates Living family wants the same hour. The alternative to saying so is placing a general science tutor at the same rate, which costs a term before anyone admits the mismatch. Usually the fix is an adjacent evening or a weekend morning; occasionally it is a short wait, and that decision is yours.

Buy a block with a target, not a slot with a hope

The number that decides what Diploma chemistry costs your household is not the hourly rate. It is whether each session is aimed at something nameable. Send a marked script, tell us the level and which evenings are free, and we will say which of the four purchases you are actually looking at and roughly what it should cost at the published Dubai bands. The first lesson is free, one per family, about thirty minutes, with no card details taken. If the honest answer is that you need eight sessions rather than two years, that is what you will be told.
