Cambridge IGCSE Online Tutor in Dubai

The question most Dubai parents actually have about a Cambridge IGCSE online tutor is not what an hour costs but which hours are worth buying. This page prices the decision: what each kind of hour produces, which Cambridge components return the most marks for the money, what choosing between the June and November series does to a budget, and what a resit really costs. Every dirham figure names the provider that published it. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Every AED figure attributed to the provider that published it, with the month read
  • Priced by component and by series, not by a single hourly headline
  • Live one-to-one video lessons on Gulf Standard Time; no UAE home visits
  • Scope, rate, session count and VAT position agreed in writing before session two

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The hourly rate is the least useful number in this decision

A Cambridge IGCSE online tutor in Dubai will quote you somewhere inside a very wide band, and the band is real. Tutopiya lists online tuition from about AED 33 to 52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65. Unitors lists IGCSE tuition from AED 150. TutorChase lists AED 270. BartyED lists a premium tier at AED 650. Bestimate's Dubai rate table for 2026 puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 and specialist exam-level support at AED 200 to 450 and above. Those were read from the providers' own pages in October 2026, they belong to those providers rather than to us, and not one of them tells you what you actually need to know.

What you need to know is which hours to buy. Two families can spend AED 7,200 across a Cambridge IGCSE year and get completely different results, not because one paid more per hour but because one spent the money on content revision in a subject where the loss was technique, and the other spent it on question-level marking of the two components that were actually bleeding marks. The hourly rate is a unit of selling. Marks recovered per hour paid is the unit that matters, and nobody in this market publishes anything about it.

Cambridge IGCSE is unusually well suited to being costed this way, because its assessment is modular in structure and public in detail. Each syllabus is a defined set of components with published mark schemes, and the losses on each behave differently. Practical and alternative-to-practical papers give marks back cheaply, because the failures are procedural and repeat. Extended-response marks are expensive, because they need a habit built rather than a fact learned. Multiple-choice papers sit in between and are frequently the most over-tutored thing in the whole course.

The series you sit is a money decision too, and almost nobody treats it as one. From a UAE centre there are two: Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series, and the February/March series is offered to India only. Entry deadlines sit months before the papers, with entries for June closing in the spring and the centre's own cut-off earlier again, so the window your child will sit was fixed while the mock was still unmarked. A family deciding in April to prepare properly for June is working inside a decision somebody lodged months earlier, and a budget written without that knowledge is a budget written for the wrong window.

So this page is a set of priced decisions rather than a rate card. It prices the kinds of hour available to you. It ranks Cambridge component types by how cheaply their marks come back. It costs the series choice and the resit scenario. It compares a group of four against one-to-one at the same monthly spend. And it says what online delivery removes from the bill and the two things it adds, because pretending it adds nothing would be a sales claim rather than a number.

One structural fact, early, because it governs every table below. Tuition for UAE families is delivered online, one-to-one, over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not make home visits in Dubai; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Travel is the single largest hidden component inside an in-home hourly rate in this emirate, and removing it is why the online bands quoted on this page sit below the in-home ones rather than beside them.

At a glance

  • Published Dubai rates run roughly AED 33-150 platform tier, AED 150-300 qualified, AED 200-450+ specialist (sources named, read October 2026)
  • Cambridge IGCSE is assessed by defined components with published mark schemes, which makes cost per mark calculable
  • Pearson International GCSE November 2026 shows the published gap: papers from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students the following January
  • Every centre is allocated to one of six Cambridge administrative zones, each with its own timetable version
  • A school may enter nine or ten subjects; UAE equivalency on the British track counts five
  • Lessons are delivered online over live video; no tutor attends a UAE address

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cambridge IGCSE sits inside a longer sequence of spending, and the per-hour rate changes at each boundary. The notes below describe what each stage costs a Dubai family and why, so a two-year Cambridge budget is not built by borrowing from the years where specialist rates are genuinely needed.

LOWER-SECAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Cambridge Lower Secondary (Years 7-9)

The cheap years. There is no external entry, no syllabus code and no mark scheme, so tutoring here is habit rather than specification: written stamina, showing working, reading a question properly. Cambridge runs Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October, which gives a Dubai family an external reference point without an exam-year price tag attached to it.

Dubai families who spend modestly in Year 9 on working-out discipline and question-reading tend to spend substantially less in Year 11, because the technique losses that cost a grade at IGCSE are the same losses, formed earlier and cheaper to fix. The usual mistake is to wait for a Year 10 report, by which point the same fix costs three times as many hours.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE (Years 10-11)

Two years, defined components, published mark schemes and grades reported A* to G. This is the stage where cost per mark can actually be calculated, because you can see which component lost what and what the mark scheme rewarded. It is also where tiering decisions carry a price: a late switch between Core and Extended wastes work that had already been paid for.

Dubai schools enter Cambridge subjects alongside Pearson ones, sometimes inside the same school, so the first spend in Year 10 should confirm what is actually on the statement of entry. A term of tutoring aimed at the wrong board's paper format is the single most complete waste available in this market, and it happens most often to mid-year arrivals.

AS-AAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level

The expensive years, and the stage where the AED 200 to 450 specialist band starts to look like value rather than markup. Subject depth rises, hours per subject rise with it, and the number of subjects falls. Entry requirements are stated in IGCSE grades, so the Year 11 result is also an admissions document rather than only a report.

Expect the per-hour rate to roughly double at the IGCSE-to-A-Level boundary in Dubai. That is the arithmetic reason to buy the qualified tier rather than the specialist tier through Years 10 and 11: the specialist budget has a job waiting for it, and spending it early does not make it available twice.

MOEPost-16, for UAE recognition

UAE Ministry of Education equivalency

On the British track, students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects.

This matters to a budget because a Dubai school may enter nine or ten Cambridge subjects while the equivalency count is five. A family with limited hours should know which subjects are carrying the equivalency load and which are carrying the sixth-form requirement, because those two sets are not identical and the overlap is where the money belongs. Verify your own case on moe.gov.ae; no provider performs equivalency on your behalf.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Marks come back at different prices in different Cambridge subjects, because the components differ. The notes below say, per subject, where the recoverable marks usually sit for a Dubai student, which is the information a budget needs.

Mathematics 0580

Core and Extended

The cheapest subject to improve per hour paid, because method marks are itemised and recoverable independently of understanding. A Dubai student who can do the maths and loses marks for unshown working is buying back marks at the lowest rate available in the whole course. Ask for marks separated into method and accuracy before buying anything.

Additional Mathematics 0606

Extended only

Taken alongside 0580 by students aiming at A Level mathematics. Expensive per mark because the content genuinely has to be learned rather than tidied, and because the cohort is small enough that tutor supply is thinner. Worth buying only when the A Level target is already named by the school.

Physics 0625

Core and Extended

Two cheap mark pools and one expensive one. Graph work, units and significant figures come back in two or three sessions. The practical or alternative-to-practical paper is similarly procedural. Six-mark extended responses are expensive and should be bought last, not first.

Chemistry 0620

Core and Extended

Moles calculations are the cheapest recoverable marks in the subject and the most commonly mis-taught; organic mechanisms are mid-priced; the qualitative analysis content on the practical paper is cheap and almost nobody revises it. A session plan that does not name which of the three it is targeting is not a plan.

Biology 0610

Core and Extended

Command-term discipline is the whole economy of this subject. Describe, explain, compare and suggest earn different marks, and students who know the biology lose marks answering the wrong verb. That is a cheap fix with a fast return and it is where a limited biology budget should go first.

English First Language 0500

Core and Extended

Assessed against objectives rather than right answers, so marks come back through redrafting rather than through content. Expensive in calendar time, cheap in hours: two sessions a month across a year beats a block, because each redraft needs a gap to be worth anything.

English Literature 0475

Core and Extended

Where coursework exists, the hours are spent on planning and on feedback against the student's own drafts rather than on content delivery. Mid-priced per mark. Keep every draft dated; the sequence is both the record of teaching and the record of authorship.

Economics 0455

Core and Extended

Definition and diagram marks are usually already held by Dubai students; the evaluation marks on extended responses are usually unclaimed entirely. That makes the subject look cheap and behave expensively, because evaluation is a habit. Budget a term, not a block.

Business Studies 0450

Core and Extended

Case-study application is the subject, and generic answers are the standard loss. The fix is cheap and rarely taught: marking an answer with the stimulus detail that should have been used highlighted beside it. Two or three sessions move it; a term of content revision does not.

Computer Science 0478 and ICT 0417

Core and Extended

Theory and practical components pull apart sharply, and a student can be secure in one and lost in the other. Confirm which component the marked work came from before agreeing any plan, because a folder of theory questions says nothing about practical performance.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of buying Cambridge IGCSE support, each with a different cost shape. The right one depends on how many components are losing marks and how much calendar you have left before the series your child is actually entered for.

Weekly one-to-one across a term

One fixed hour a week for twelve weeks, which is the shape that gives the lowest cost per mark recovered on technique losses. The feedback loop closes weekly, the same component can be re-tested, and the price per hour sits at whatever the qualified tier charges rather than at the premium an urgent block attracts. This is the default for Year 10 and the first half of Year 11.

  • Lowest cost per mark on method, units, graph work and command terms
  • The same component revisited after the fix, to show it held
  • A session note naming the paper, the component and the question numbers
  • Twelve weeks is nine or ten real sessions; budget against the real number

Marked-paper blocks before a series

Three to six sessions built around whole papers sat under timed conditions and marked question by question against the published mark scheme. Higher weekly spend, lower total, and it is the only format that reliably shows a parent what changed. It suits the weeks between a mock and the real series, and it stops when the series starts.

  • Whole timed papers rather than question sets
  • Marks recorded per question, not per paper
  • Targets the component the mock actually exposed
  • A defined end date; no rolling commitment

Single-component repair

The smallest useful purchase: two or three sessions aimed at one named component, usually a practical or alternative-to-practical paper, a graph-and-data weakness or a command-term problem. Cheap, fast, and frequently the only thing a family actually needs. It is also the honest answer when a parent is being sold a year.

  • One component named from the mock, nothing else
  • Two or three sessions, then stop and re-test
  • Often the best value purchase in the entire course
  • Scoped and priced in writing before the first session

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What a Cambridge IGCSE online tutor in Dubai costs, by the kind of hour you are buying

  • Diagnostic hours: buy one or two, insist on a written output, never buy them repeatedly
  • Marking hours: need someone who works from the published mark scheme at question level
  • Teaching hours: the tier decision belongs here and nowhere else
  • Supervision hours: the cheapest tier does this as well as the most expensive one

Published market rates in Dubai run from about AED 33 an hour at the platform end to AED 650 at the premium end, with Cambridge IGCSE work mostly sitting between AED 150 and AED 300. Every figure here was read from the provider's own public page in October 2026 and belongs to that provider; none is an IB Gram price. We publish them because three of the six best-ranking pages for this search publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which no Dubai family pays tuition in.

The useful cut is not by tier but by what the hour does. A diagnostic hour, a teaching hour, a marking hour and a timed-paper hour produce completely different things and do not need the same person. A capable postgraduate at the lower band can supervise a timed paper perfectly well. Marking against a published Cambridge mark scheme at question level needs someone who knows the scheme. Teaching a six-mark extended response needs the most expensive hour in the list, and a term that spends every hour at that rate is a term that overpaid for supervision.

The table below sets out those four kinds of hour with the market band that can actually deliver each and roughly how many a term needs. Read it as a shopping list rather than a rate card. Our own quote depends on the subject, the components in play, the number of sessions and whether the work is weekly or a block, which is why there is no single number on this page. The trial lesson, one per family and requiring no card, exists so the first conversation is about which hours you need rather than about an invoice.

Cost per mark: which Cambridge components give the money back

Cambridge IGCSE marks are not uniformly priced. Some losses are procedural, repeat identically across papers, and close in two or three sessions; others are habits that take a term to build. A family with twelve hours to spend will get two or three grades more movement by starting at the cheap end of that list than by starting with the subject that feels most frightening. Almost every Dubai family does the opposite, because fear is a worse guide than a marked paper.

The cheap pools are consistent across subjects. Unshown working in mathematics. Units and significant figures in the sciences. Graph construction, axis labelling and reading values off a line. The practical or alternative-to-practical papers, where the failures are procedural and the content is narrow. Command-term mismatch, where a student who knows the biology answers 'describe' with an explanation and loses the mark for a reason nobody has ever told them. All of those close fast and stay closed.

The expensive pools are also consistent. Extended-response questions where marks depend on structure and on sustained reasoning. Evaluation marks in economics and business, which require a habit of weighing rather than a fact. Data-analysis questions that need interpretation rather than calculation. These are worth buying, and they are worth buying second. The table below sets the component types out with the shape of the loss and a realistic number of sessions, so a budget can be built in the right order.

CAMBRIDGE COMPONENT TYPES RANKED BY HOW CHEAPLY THE MARKS COME BACK

Choosing a series is a money decision, and the deadline came first

Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series for UAE centres; the February/March series goes to India only. Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests run in March, May and October, which is where the idea of a spring sitting usually comes from, and they are not IGCSE. Which series your child sits determines how many weeks of tutoring the plan can contain, and because entry deadlines sit months before the papers, the window was effectively fixed before most families started thinking about it.

The gap is easiest to see in Pearson's published figures, because the other board prints a full series timetable well in advance: the International GCSE November 2026 papers ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and the November 2025 results did not reach students until 22 January 2026. Cambridge's June and November series are built the same way, with entries closing months ahead and the exact days confirmed on the statement of entry. Read backwards, that means a family wanting a properly planned June run needed the decision made in the autumn of Year 11, and a family deciding after the spring entry has closed is buying a compressed block at block prices rather than a term at term prices, or quietly buying for November instead.

One administrative point has a genuine cost attached. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. Get the timetable from your school's exams officer rather than from a search result, and check it against the statement of entry. This is the cheapest risk control in the whole process and it costs one email.

04

Resits priced honestly, including the ones that are not worth doing

A resit is the most emotionally driven purchase in this market and the one where families overspend most reliably. The question is never simply whether a grade can improve. It is whether the improvement arrives before the thing it was needed for, and whether the subject is one of the five that the equivalency count or the sixth-form offer actually depends on. Those two questions settle most resit decisions in about ten minutes and save a great deal of money.

The mechanics matter. A resit means a fresh entry in a later series, which means a fresh entry deadline sitting months before the paper. If results arrive in August and the sixth form has already made its offer conditional on a grade, a November attempt may land after the decision point and a following June attempt certainly will. Ask the school two things before buying any tutoring: what the deadline for the next series is, and whether the offer holder will wait. Both answers are free.

Where a resit is worth doing, the tutoring shape is different from a first attempt. The content was taught once already, so the money goes almost entirely into question-level marking and timed papers rather than into teaching. That is a cheaper mix than a first run, and a provider quoting you a full course for a resit is quoting the wrong product. The table below sets out the common scenarios with what has to be re-entered and the realistic block size.

RESIT SCENARIOS - WHAT MUST BE RE-ENTERED AND WHAT THE TUTORING BLOCK LOOKS LIKE

Same monthly spend, different product: one-to-one against a group of four

Monthly packages are how this market actually sells, and the published examples are worth knowing. Packages seen in Dubai include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240 to 600 at the budget tier, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-tier and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. All read October 2026, all theirs rather than ours.

Set a fixed monthly figure against the options and the comparison becomes concrete. At roughly AED 800 a month a Dubai family can buy about four one-to-one hours at the qualified tier, about eight hours in a group of four, or around two hours at the specialist tier. Those are not three versions of the same thing. Four one-to-one hours can produce three marked papers and a measured movement on one component. Eight group hours can cover a lot of content and will produce almost no per-student marked work.

The rule that falls out of this is simple enough to apply without a spreadsheet. If the loss is content, groups are decent value. If the loss is technique, which for Cambridge IGCSE it usually is, groups are poor value at any price, because technique losses are individual and only visible on that student's own paper. Most Dubai families buy groups for a technique problem and then conclude that tutoring does not work.

What online removes from the bill, and the two things it adds

  • Removed: the tutor's travel, which sits inside every in-home hourly rate in Dubai
  • Removed: the family's own drive to a centre at the worst hour of the day
  • Removed: the limit of the local tutor pool for thinly covered Cambridge subjects
  • Added: a one-off equipment cost, mainly headphones and a writing tablet
  • Added: about two minutes a week of parent supervision on timed work

Online delivery removes travel, and in Dubai travel is not a small line. An in-home tutor crossing the city for a 6.30pm session is pricing forty to ninety minutes of unpaid movement into the hourly rate, which is most of the gap between Bestimate's in-home band of AED 180 to 350 and the online bands published by the platform-tier providers. It also removes the second journey: the one where a family drives a child to a tuition centre at exactly the hour Dubai traffic is at its worst.

It removes something less obvious too, which is the local supply constraint. A Cambridge Chemistry 0620 specialist does not have to live within a twenty-minute drive of your community to take a 5pm Gulf Standard Time booking. For thinly covered subjects such as Additional Mathematics or Computer Science, that is the difference between a specialist and whoever was available, and the cost of whoever was available is a wasted term rather than a lower rate.

It adds two things, and a page that pretended otherwise would be selling rather than costing. The first is equipment: a reliable connection, a device with a decent camera, headphones, and ideally a graphics tablet or a document camera for mathematics and the sciences, so working can be seen rather than described. That is a one-off household cost, not a per-session one. The second is supervision: somebody has to make sure the timed paper was actually timed and unaided. In an in-home arrangement the tutor does that; online, a parent does, and it takes about two minutes a week. Families who skip it lose the value of every timed-paper hour they paid for.

07

Nine subjects entered, five that count: budgeting by subject role

A Dubai school may enter a student for nine or ten Cambridge subjects. No family tutors nine subjects, and the ones that try spread the money so thinly that nothing moves. The allocation question therefore has to be answered before the rate question, and there is a defensible way to answer it that almost nobody uses: sort the subjects by what each one is actually for.

Three roles exist. Some subjects are carrying the UAE equivalency count, which on the British track requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education not included among the five. Some are carrying a sixth-form entry requirement, published by the school and usually subject-specific. Some are carrying neither and are there for breadth. Those three sets overlap but are not the same, and the overlap is exactly where a constrained budget belongs.

Work it out on one sheet of paper. List the entered subjects. Mark which five are intended to carry equivalency. Mark which ones the Year 12 courses your child wants actually require, and at what grade, which the school publishes. The subjects marked twice get the money. The subjects marked once get attention if there is budget left. The subjects marked neither get none, and a parent who can say that out loud has already saved more than any discount in this market will give them. The whole exercise takes about fifteen minutes and needs no subject knowledge at all.

Package terms: the five questions that decide whether a cheap quote is cheap

Two providers quoting AED 200 an hour can be selling arrangements that differ in real cost by half. The difference is never in the headline. It is in the session length behind the hourly figure, the cancellation window, whether marking time is billed, whether the quote includes VAT, and what happens to unused sessions in a monthly package. Those five questions take one message to ask and they are the whole of the diligence most families need to do.

Two of them deserve expanding. On tax, limit the question to whether the figure quoted to you includes VAT; no page should be stating the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as settled fact without a Federal Tax Authority citation, and anyone quoting you a ruling is going beyond what they can support. On anything described as free, ask what the condition is: how long the trial runs, who is eligible, whether a card is required, and whether it is one per family or one per subject. A condition stated up front is a term; a condition discovered later is a price increase.

There is a sixth question that is not about money and should be asked anyway. Lead forms for tutoring collect personal data about a minor, and the UAE has a personal data protection law, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. Ask what is collected, why, and how to have it deleted. Nobody needs your child's school, grades and photograph in a web form in order to arrange a trial lesson, and a provider who cannot answer that question has not thought about it.

What a Cambridge IGCSE quote should state before you pay it

  • Session length, rate, session count, target components, cancellation terms, VAT position - in one message
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge and valid for two years
  • No published fine schedule exists, so treat any quoted penalty amount as unsupported
  • A centre with premises needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit; an online provider does not hold one
  • Ask what personal data a lead form collects about your child and how to have it deleted

Five things go in writing before the second session: the session length and the rate for it, the number of sessions being committed to, which components the work is targeting, the cancellation and rescheduling terms, and whether the quoted figure includes VAT. A quote that cannot survive being written down is not a quote. This is not an adversarial step; any competent provider will send it in one message, and the ones who will not have told you something useful.

Ask one more question that has nothing to do with price and everything to do with legality. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit: the MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service, 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you.

Keep two distinctions straight while you are asking. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is a document about premises and not a statement about teaching quality; an online provider does not hold one and should not imply it does. And in Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, while the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Treat that as press-reported and check the current ADEK document; the practical reading is that hiring your child's own teacher is the wrong move regardless of what it costs.

How these lessons run, and what this page will not claim

Sessions are one-to-one, live, over video, on a shared screen with a writing surface both people can use, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time against your child's own school calendar. The material is your child's own paper, the published Cambridge mark scheme for it, and the statement of entry that says which components actually apply. IB Gram does not make home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and the cost consequence of that is set out in the tables above rather than hidden behind a convenience argument.

We do not reproduce or supply Cambridge syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides. We reference them and point to cambridgeinternational.org, because reproducing them is a copyright matter and for unreleased material a malpractice one. We publish no IB exam or results date anywhere on this site, because the IB's own site blocks automated verification; confirm those with your school's coordinator. Cambridge and Pearson dates are quoted with the source's framing and should still be checked against the live official timetable your centre holds for its zone.

We hold no approval, accreditation, licensing or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and we operate no premises in the UAE. We make no promises about any grade, publish no satisfaction percentage and show no star rating, because none of those can be checked by the person reading them. A tutor here teaches, questions and gives feedback on the student's own work, and does not produce assessed work for any subject at any price. And if no suitable tutor is free for a Cambridge subject in the window you need, we will say so and say when that changes rather than filling the slot and billing for it.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Where a family lives in Dubai does not change the published rate card, but it changes the slot you can hold and therefore the price you end up paying for the same teaching. These notes are about that, not about geography.

Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim

Early school finishes make a 4pm start realistic, which is the cheapest hour in the Dubai week because almost nothing competes for it. Families here more often have a named sixth-form grade target, which makes the cost-per-mark calculation concrete rather than abstract.

Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers

Sessions land at 6.30pm or later, which is the expensive end of the evening for identical teaching. This cluster also has the widest gap between in-home and online rates in the emirate, because an in-home tutor crossing Sheikh Zayed Road at that hour prices the journey into the fee.

Arabian Ranches, Dubai Hills and Mudon

Long bus runs mean many Year 11 students are not at a desk before 4.45pm. Buying one sustainable weekly hour beats buying two that keep moving, because a cancelled session costs the full fee in opportunity and delivers nothing against the mark.

Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Qusais

Mixed boards within a short radius, so households often carry Cambridge and Pearson entries at once. The first money here should go on confirming syllabus codes from the statement of entry, because paper formats differ and a term aimed at the wrong one is a total loss.

Al Barsha and Dubai Hills

A dense cluster of British-curriculum schools, which means the same Cambridge mock papers recur. A tutor who has already marked that paper reaches a question-level diagnosis in session one rather than session three, and diagnostic hours are the ones families most resent paying for.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

University proximity keeps the AED 45 to 150 tier genuinely well supplied here, which is why this is the part of Dubai where the permit question matters most before money changes hands. Cheap and permitted are not mutually exclusive, but they should both be checked.

Downtown Dubai and Business Bay

Apartments, late finishes and frequent family travel. Blocks timed to a mock window tend to work better than year-round weekly slots here, because the weekly slot gets cancelled and the cancelled hour is the most expensive hour there is.

The Springs, The Meadows and Jumeirah Park

Settled communities where a fixed slot survives a whole term, which is the condition under which cost per mark actually improves. Consistency is a discount nobody prices: twelve sessions delivered beat eighteen booked and nine attended.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Al Barsha, Dubai Hills and Umm Suqeim

British-curriculum schools entering Cambridge syllabuses heavily, often alongside Pearson ones in different departments. Requests from this cluster usually arrive with a school-marked mock attached, which shortens diagnosis to one session and lowers the total hours a family needs to buy.

  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Jumeirah College
  • Dubai College

Mirdif, Al Warqa and Dubai Silicon Oasis

A mixed-board belt where Cambridge, Pearson and other curricula sit within a few kilometres. Households here frequently need the statement of entry checked first, because sibling assumptions carry across schools and paper formats do not.

  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Star International School Mirdif
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • Repton School Dubai

Dubai Marina, JLT and Al Sufouh

Apartment communities with a high share of mid-year arrivals. The budget question that comes from here most often is whether to fund two subjects lightly or one properly, and the honest answer usually depends on which components are losing the marks rather than on which subject feels weakest.

  • Emirates International School Meadows
  • Regent International School
  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • American School of Dubai
  • Raffles World Academy

Schools are named here only as context for the Dubai schooling market these families operate in. No affiliation, endorsement or commercial relationship with any named school or group is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Get the statement of entry

From your school's exams officer. It names the Cambridge syllabus codes, the components inside each and the tier where tiering applies. Spending money before you have it risks tutoring the wrong board's paper format, which is the most complete waste available in this market.

  2. 02

Send the most recent marked mock

Marked, ideally with marks recorded per question. A marked paper itemises the losses, which is what makes a cost-per-mark conversation possible. A description of the problem does not, and a first session spent discovering what a document would have shown is a session you paid for twice.

  3. 03

Take the trial lesson, then read the diagnosis

One lesson at no charge per family, no card required. Judge it on the written output: does it name components and question numbers, with the cheap losses separated from the expensive ones? That document is what you are deciding on, not the hour itself.

  4. 04

    Buy the cheap marks first

Practicals, working-out discipline, units, graph technique and command terms, in that order. Two or three sessions each, re-tested afterwards. Expensive marks such as evaluation and extended response come second, when the easy ground has already been taken.

  5. 05

Put the five terms in writing

Session length, rate, session count, target components, cancellation terms and the VAT position, in one message before the second session. Ask separately about the MoHRE private tuition work permit. None of this is adversarial and all of it takes five minutes.

  6. 06

Re-test the component at six weeks

Sit the same component again under timed conditions and compare marks per question. If it moved, continue. If it did not and the sessions ran, change the target rather than the budget. If half the sessions were cancelled, change the slot instead.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Priced by component, not by a headline rate

Cambridge IGCSE is assessed through defined components with published mark schemes, which makes cost per mark calculable. We rank component types by how cheaply the marks come back, so a limited budget is spent in the order that actually moves a grade.

Every figure has an owner and a date

Each AED band on this page names the provider that published it and the month we read it. Three of the six best-ranking competitor pages for this search publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which no Dubai family pays tuition in.

The series calendar treated as a budget input

Cambridge entry deadlines sit months before the papers, and a June entry closing in the spring is the one that quietly sets your budget. Knowing that changes whether you are buying a term at term prices or a compressed block at block prices, which is a larger difference than any hourly rate.

Delivery stated plainly, with the trade-off shown

Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE addresses; home visits are a service we run only in India. The tables say what that removes from a bill and the two things it adds, rather than only the flattering half.

Regulator and board facts cited, never worn as credentials

Cambridge timetable rules, MoHRE permit requirements, KHDA permissions and Ministry of Education equivalency are described with sources so you can verify them. We hold no approval or partnership from any of them and operate no premises in the UAE.

The authorship line is part of the service

A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on the student's own work. Nobody here produces coursework or assessed work at any price, and keeping dated drafts is how a Dubai family can demonstrate that nobody did if the question is ever raised.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does a Cambridge IGCSE online tutor in Dubai cost per hour?+

Published market rates in Dubai span roughly AED 33 to AED 650, with Cambridge IGCSE work mostly between AED 150 and AED 300. Tutopiya lists from AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65 at the platform end; Unitors lists IGCSE tuition from AED 150; TutorChase lists AED 270; BartyED lists AED 650. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table puts specialist exam support at AED 200-450 and above. All read October 2026, all those providers' figures rather than ours. The more useful question is which kind of hour you need, because supervision, marking and teaching do not require the same tier.

Which Cambridge IGCSE paper gives me the most marks back per dirham?+

The practical or alternative-to-practical paper, almost every time. The content is narrow, the failures are procedural - apparatus naming, variable control, table headings, reading a scale - and students rarely revise it because it feels unexaminable. Two or three sessions typically close most of the available loss and it stays closed. After that, working-out discipline in mathematics, then units and graph technique in the sciences, then command-term accuracy. Extended-response and evaluation marks are worth having and should be bought last, because they need a habit built across a term rather than a procedure learned in a session.

Does entering November instead of June change what preparation costs?+

Usually it costs more, and the reason is runway rather than rates. A June entry gives a two-year build-up, so hours can be bought weekly at term rates across the quietest months. November sits a few months after June results, so the preparation is nearly always a concentrated block bought at block prices, and the specialists are being asked for the same autumn evenings by every other resitting family in Dubai. The case for November is not price; it is a specific grade on a specific component that a short, targeted run can move. Check which series your centre actually enters before planning anything; it is not a free choice for most Dubai students, and the February/March series is not available here at all.

How much does it cost to resit one Cambridge IGCSE subject?+

Less than a first attempt, if it is bought correctly. The content was taught once already, so the tutoring mix shifts almost entirely to question-level marking and timed papers rather than teaching, which is typically a four to six session block rather than a term. A provider quoting a full course for a resit is quoting the wrong product. Before buying anything, ask two free questions: what the entry deadline for the next series is, and whether the sixth form holding the offer will wait for the result. If the answer to the second is no, the resit may not help.

At AED 800 a month, is a group of four better than one-to-one?+

It depends entirely on what is losing the marks. Around AED 800 buys roughly four one-to-one hours at the qualified tier or about eight to ten hours in a small group, using published market rates read in October 2026. If the problem is content coverage, the group is decent value. If the problem is technique, which for Cambridge IGCSE it usually is, the group is poor value at any price, because technique losses are individual and only visible on that student's own marked paper. Most families buy a group for a technique problem and then conclude tutoring does not work.

What does online tutoring save compared with a tutor who travels in Dubai?+

Mostly travel, which is a large hidden component of any in-home rate here. A tutor crossing the city for a 6.30pm session is pricing forty to ninety minutes of unpaid movement into the hour, and Bestimate's in-home band of AED 180-350 sits above the online bands largely for that reason. It also removes the family's own drive to a centre at the worst traffic hour, and it removes the local supply limit for thinly covered subjects. It adds a one-off equipment cost and about two minutes a week of parent supervision on timed work.

My child is entered for nine Cambridge subjects. How many should we tutor?+

Two, usually, and never nine. Sort the entry by role first. Five subjects are carrying the UAE equivalency count, which on the British track requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count. Some subjects are carrying a published sixth-form entry requirement. Some are carrying neither. The subjects in both the first two groups get the money; the rest get attention only if budget remains. A parent who can name the subjects that nothing downstream depends on has already saved more than any discount will give them.

Does a monthly tutoring package in Dubai work out cheaper than paying per hour?+

Sometimes, and the variable is expiry. Packages advertised in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. The arithmetic only works if the sessions are used, and a Dubai term reliably delivers nine or ten of twelve weeks once school events, travel and illness are counted. Ask what happens to unused sessions. A package of eight that expires monthly against a household that realistically runs six is a higher effective rate than paying per hour, dressed as a discount.

Should a Dubai tutoring quote include VAT?+

Ask whether the figure quoted to you includes it, and get the answer in writing. That is the correct scope of the question. Nobody should be stating the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as settled fact without a Federal Tax Authority citation, and a provider offering you a confident ruling on the general position is going beyond what they can support. What matters commercially is narrow and answerable: is the number you were given the number that appears on the invoice. Put it in the same message as session length, session count, target components and cancellation terms.

What equipment do we need at home for Cambridge IGCSE online lessons?+

Less than families expect, and it is a one-off rather than a recurring cost. A reliable connection, a laptop or tablet with a usable camera, and headphones with a microphone, which matter more than the camera because mishearing a number wastes minutes. For mathematics and the sciences a cheap graphics tablet or a phone propped as a document camera is worth having, so working can be seen rather than described. A quiet room and a desk the student can write on complete it. No subscriptions, no software purchases and no specialist hardware are needed.

Is it cheaper to start Cambridge IGCSE tutoring in Year 10 than in Year 11?+

Substantially, because Year 10 is where the cheap marks live and where there is time to test that a fix held. Procedural losses - unshown working, units, graph construction, command-term mismatch - cost the same to fix in either year, but in Year 10 the same component can be re-sat twice before it counts. Year 11 compresses everything into the weeks between the first mock and a series whose entry deadline has already passed, and compressed work is bought at block rates. If a Year 10 report shows the same grade across several subjects, that is technique, and it is the best-value purchase in the course.

Does a practical paper need separate tutoring, and what does it add?+

It needs separate attention and it adds very little to the bill, which is why it is the most underused purchase in this market. Whether a school enters the practical paper or the alternative-to-practical version, the assessed skills are procedural: naming apparatus, controlling variables, headings and units in a results table, reading a scale, identifying a source of error. Students almost never revise it. Two or three sessions typically recover most of the available marks and the gain holds across series. Confirm from the statement of entry which version your child actually sits before planning any of it.

How many hours does it take to move from a C to a B in Cambridge IGCSE?+

Nobody can answer that honestly as a number of hours, and anyone who does is guessing in front of you. What can be answered is which losses are available and how expensive each is to close. A C with secure content and procedural losses can move in a handful of sessions, because the marks are sitting in working-out, units and graph technique. A C with real content gaps takes a term, because the content has to be rebuilt in sequence first. Which of the two you have is a question for a marked paper, and it is the output the trial lesson is supposed to produce.

What happens to the cost if my child needs two subjects instead of one?+

It does not quite double if the subjects are sequenced rather than run in parallel. Two subjects taught simultaneously means two weekly slots, two sets of marked work and roughly twice the spend. Two subjects sequenced - single-component repair in the first, then the second - often costs around a third less in total, because each block is short and targeted and the student is not carrying two new habits at once. Sequencing works where both losses are procedural. Where both subjects have content gaps, parallel is unavoidable and the budget has to reflect that honestly.

Do I pay for the time a tutor spends marking my child's paper?+

Ask, because the answer varies and it changes the real rate. Three arrangements exist in this market. Marking is billed separately, which is transparent but raises the total. Marking is included outside the session, which is the best value if it genuinely happens. Or marking is done inside the session, which means you paid a teaching rate to watch someone read. The third is the common one and the most expensive. Put the question in the same written message as session length and cancellation terms, and ask to see one anonymised marked sample so you know what you are paying for.

Decide which hours to buy before deciding what to pay for one

The useful order is documents, diagnosis, cheap marks, then expensive ones. Ask the school for the statement of entry and the correct zone timetable. Send the most recent marked mock. Take the trial lesson, which is one per family and needs no card, and judge it on the written diagnosis that follows: which components are losing marks, and which of those losses are cheap. Then buy the cheap ones first and re-test at six weeks. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and the rate, session count, target components, cancellation terms and VAT position go in writing before a second session is booked.
