Best IB Tuition in Dubai

Nobody ranks providers, so the honest version of best IB tuition in Dubai is the plan that buys the most useful hours for the money you have. This page builds a two-year Diploma budget from published AED market rates, sets it beside school fees and exam entry, shows which term the money does most work in, and names the costs that never appear on a quote. We teach one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Every AED figure attributed to the provider that published it
  • A two-year budget model you can adjust, not a price promise
  • Free trial lesson and consultation before any payment

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Build the budget first, then choose the tutor

Most families choose a tutor and then discover the cost. The reverse order works better, because the number of hours available is what determines whether a plan is a remedy or a gesture. A Dubai family with AED 1,000 a month to spend on tuition has roughly four to six useful hours in it depending on who teaches them, and four hours a month spent on one identified component will do more than eight hours spread across three subjects.

Published AED rates make that arithmetic possible, and almost nobody in this market publishes them. Three of the six best-ranking pages for this search show no price at all; the two that do quote US dollars, a currency UAE families do not transact in; and one competitor's structured data contradicts the price on its own visible page. Every figure on this page names the provider that published it and the month it was read, and none of them is an IB Gram price.

Our own model is deliberately not a shelf price, and it is worth saying why rather than hiding it. What a plan costs depends on the subject, the level, how many sessions a week it genuinely needs and for how long. So the sequence we use is a free trial lesson with no card details, a written diagnosis, then a conversation about how many hours the diagnosis actually implies. A quoted rate before a diagnosis is a number attached to an unknown quantity.

The useful context for any Dubai tuition budget is the school fee sitting beside it. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. That leaves one large number fixed on one side of a family's ledger, which makes the tuition decision easier to make deliberately.

Supply is moving too, and in a direction that matters for cost. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools — four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate — creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. More IB places arriving faster than experienced Diploma teachers do is the condition under which specialist tutoring rates stay firm, which is worth knowing before assuming prices will soften.

On delivery, plainly, because it changes the arithmetic. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. The in-home premium in this market is substantial and it buys presence rather than teaching minutes, which is the single largest avoidable cost in a Dubai tuition plan.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost per useful hour differs sharply by programme, because what the hour has to achieve differs. The notes below say what a family is realistically buying at each stage of the IB continuum in Dubai.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

The most expensive stage and the one where hours are worth most, because grades here are used for university entry and the internally assessed components cannot be revisited once submitted. The budget question is which one or two subjects to fund properly rather than how to cover six, and the answer is distance from target at Higher Level plus the nearest coursework deadline.

Dubai Diploma cohorts sit the May session, which concentrates demand and therefore pricing in the eight weeks beforehand. Families who start in DP1 pay a lower effective rate for the same outcome, because availability is easier and the work can be spread. A DP2 rescue in the spring is the most expensive way to buy the same number of hours.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The cheapest place to fix a problem that would otherwise cost far more later. Algebraic fluency, writing structure and criterion literacy all respond to a small number of hours at 13 or 14 and become expensive to repair at 17. The budget logic here is preventative rather than remedial.

In Dubai the highest-value MYP spend is usually mathematics in the two terms before DP1 begins, because the step up from criterion-marked work to a Diploma paper arrives immediately. Schools running the Year 11 personal project frequently displace algebra practice, and that specific gap is cheap to close in advance.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The band where paying specialist rates makes least sense. There are no examinations, no percentages and no assessment architecture to teach to, so what is being bought is reading fluency, number sense or an additional language. A competent generalist at the bottom of the market is usually the right purchase.

Arabic as an additional language is the commonest primary request in Dubai, because KHDA requires Arabic in all private schools with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils. It is a language-teaching brief rather than an IB one, and should be priced as such rather than at a Diploma specialist's rate.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Budget only for the Diploma courses inside it, which are examined exactly as in the full Diploma. The career-related units are provider-assessed, and paying a tutoring provider to work on them is paying for guesswork about criteria they have not seen.

With very few Dubai schools licensing the programme there is no local price benchmark at all, so quotes vary widely and unhelpfully. The practical approach is to price the Diploma subjects at the normal bands and take the reflective project criteria from the school's coordinator at no cost.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rough hours, not rates. For each subject below, how many sessions a typical identified problem actually takes, which is the number that turns an hourly rate into a budget.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

An accuracy problem is two to four sessions. A genuine Higher Level calculus or proof gap is a term. The expensive mistake is buying a term of sessions for a problem that was two sessions of units and significant figures, which a marked script identifies immediately.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistical interpretation and documented calculator work are each about two to three sessions. Modelling content at Higher Level is longer. Most spend here is wasted on re-teaching tests the student can already perform rather than on the written conclusion.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Equilibrium and energetics repair is four to six sessions; the internal investigation is a separate block tied to the school's draft stages. Higher Level data-handling practice is ongoing rather than finite, which makes it the subject most worth starting in DP1.

Physics

HL and SL

Written-explanation work is four to six sessions and is where most Dubai cohorts' marks sit. Numerical content rarely needs paid hours at all for a student already coping, so a quote built around calculation practice is usually a quote for the wrong thing.

Biology

HL and SL

Data-based question practice is three to five sessions. Content revision is close to limitless and close to pointless for a student whose recall is intact, which describes most Dubai students who ask for Biology help in DP2.

Economics

HL and SL

The evaluation paragraph is three to four sessions, and it is the cheapest band improvement available in the Diploma. Higher Level calculation accuracy adds two. Anything longer than that is a content course the school is already providing.

History

HL and SL

Building a usable case-study bank is five to eight sessions, the longest honest block on this list, because the deliverable is a body of named detail the student can deploy unaided. Essay practice without the bank is the expensive version.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Technique vocabulary plus paragraph structure is four to six sessions and moves Paper 1 reliably. Reading the set texts is not a tuition cost; the school covers it and a tutor charging for text discussion is selling reading time.

Business Management

HL and SL

Three to five sessions on answering with the stimulus quoted. The content is not usually the problem, which means a long content course is the most common overspend in this subject across Dubai.

English B

HL and SL

Three to five sessions on text-type conventions, plus oral rehearsal closer to the assessment. A pair or trio is genuinely as good here, which makes it one of the few places a group rate is the better buy.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Three to four sessions, timed to when the prescribed titles and exhibition prompts are issued rather than spread across two years. A standing weekly slot in this subject is almost always money better spent elsewhere.

Extended Essay

Core

A finite block tied to the school's own draft stages, typically four to five sessions across several months. Priced as a block rather than hourly, because the work happens in bursts around deadlines rather than weekly.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to spend a fixed budget, in ascending order of how much certainty you need before committing. The first exists so that a decision can be made on evidence rather than on a monthly commitment taken on trust.

Diagnosis first, then decide

A single free trial session producing a written diagnosis, with nothing booked afterwards unless you ask. It costs nothing and it converts an open-ended worry into a number of hours, which is the only way to judge whether a quote is reasonable for the problem you actually have.

  • No charge and no card details
  • One timed question marked against the published scheme
  • A written note naming the gaps and the first three sessions
  • Nothing booked unless you come back

A finite component block

Four to six sessions on one named component, agreed and priced before it starts, with marked work at each end. The cheapest honest unit in Diploma tuition, because most identified problems are a small number of hours rather than a continuing subscription.

  • A stated number of sessions with an end date
  • Baseline and closing scripts both marked
  • No automatic rollover into a monthly arrangement
  • Priced as a block, so the total is known in advance

Weekly support across a term, reviewed every six weeks

A standing slot on one subject where the problem is cumulative rather than a single component. Reviewed at week six against marked work, so the spend continues on evidence rather than by default. Sessions pause for exam weeks and travel without penalty.

  • One subject, one level, one specialist, same weekly slot
  • Six-weekly review against two comparable scripts
  • Pauses for exam weeks, travel and school events
  • Specialist change on request, without restarting

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What two years of IB tuition costs a Dubai family

The table below is a model, not a price list, built from the AED bands published by other providers and read in October 2026. It exists because no competing page in this market will put a two-year total in front of a parent, and a parent cannot plan against an hourly rate alone. Adjust the rows to your own situation; the point is the shape of the number rather than the number itself.

The assumptions are stated so you can argue with them. One Higher Level subject supported weekly across both Diploma years, a second subject supported for one term in DP2, a finite coursework block for the internal assessment and another for the Extended Essay, and a revision block in the final twelve weeks. That is a fairly typical plan for a student who is not in difficulty and wants to move one or two grades.

Two things usually surprise families reading it. The first is how much of the total sits in the final twelve weeks if the plan is left until then — a concentration that raises the effective cost per useful hour, because availability tightens across the Gulf in the run-up to the May session. The second is how cheap the coursework blocks are relative to their weight in the grade, since internally assessed work carries roughly a fifth to a quarter of most subject grades.

A plan built in DP1 costs less for the same result, and not only because the hours are spread. Starting early means a problem is diagnosed while it is two topics rather than a subject, availability in the tight Higher Level specialisms is easier, and the student has enough weeks for the work set between sessions to actually be done. A DP2 spring rescue buys the same hours at the worst moment in the calendar.

Nothing in the table is an IB Gram price. Our sequence is a free trial lesson, a written diagnosis, then a conversation about how many hours the diagnosis implies — which is the only honest basis for a total.

What moves a Dubai quote, and the question that tests it

The spread between AED 45 and AED 650 an hour in this market is not noise. Each band corresponds to a different product, and within a band the variation is driven by a small number of identifiable factors. Knowing which factor a quote is pricing lets you ask whether you need it, which is a more productive conversation than negotiating a rate.

Level is the most legitimate driver. Higher Level content extends beyond the shared core and most subjects add an examined component, so a tutor who has taught that level to a full cohort is scarcer and prices accordingly. Where the same person charges the same for Standard and Higher Level, that is worth noticing in either direction: it may be honest pricing, or it may mean they treat the two as one course.

Format is the largest avoidable driver. Published in-home rates in Dubai run AED 180-350 at Bestimate and AED 200-500 for independent home tutors, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The difference is a car in evening traffic. It buys presence in the room, which matters for a young or reluctant student and does not add teaching minutes for a Diploma student with a closed door.

Timing is the driver families notice last. Demand concentrates across the whole Gulf in the eight weeks before the May session, which is when availability in the tight Higher Level specialisms disappears and when a family has least room to negotiate anything. Starting a plan in DP1 is a pricing decision as much as a pedagogical one.

The table lists each driver with the question that tests whether you are paying for something your child needs. Ask them by email so the answers are in writing.

Tuition in context: school fees, the fee freeze and exam entry

A tuition budget makes more sense once it sits beside the other education numbers a Dubai family is already carrying. The most useful of those is now fixed: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total.

That matters practically rather than sentimentally. A family that had budgeted for a fee increase has a known amount of room, and the question becomes whether that room is better spent on tuition, on examination entry for an additional subject, or on nothing at all. The last option is legitimate and under-considered: a student with a sound diagnosis and a numbered list of work for the week does not always need paid hours.

Examination entry is the cost most often forgotten. A student sitting a paper outside their own school as a private candidate pays entry fees to a recognised examination centre, and those fees and deadlines are set by the centre and the board rather than by any tutoring provider. The published Pearson Edexcel dates show how far ahead the administration sits: the November 2026 International GCSE timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and results from a November entry reach students in January, as the November 2025 results did on 22 January 2026. Entry for that series closed months before the first paper, which is why the centre has to be approached a term early rather than a fortnight early.

Equivalency and attestation sit outside the tuition budget too, and outside any tutoring provider's remit. The Ministry of Education's documented British-track requirements include five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE at no less than grade E or 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five, plus one accredited A-Level at no less than E or two AS-Levels at the same grade. Verify the current requirements on moe.gov.ae; no IB points figure should be quoted by anyone without a Ministry source.

The table sets the items side by side so a plan can be made against the whole picture rather than against an hourly rate in isolation.

Where in the two years an hour does the most work

Hours are not interchangeable. The same AED 250 buys a different amount of grade movement depending on which week of the Diploma it is spent in, and the differences are large enough to reorganise a budget around. The pattern is consistent and almost nobody plans against it, because tuition tends to be bought in response to a bad result rather than in advance of a known pressure point.

The highest-value window is the first term of DP1. A problem diagnosed there is still two topics rather than a subject, there are enough weeks for work set between sessions to actually be done, and availability in the tight Higher Level specialisms is manageable. An hour spent in October of DP1 does more than an hour spent in March of DP2, and costs less because demand is lower.

The second highest-value window is whatever fortnight precedes a coursework draft deadline. Internally assessed work carries roughly a fifth to a quarter of most subject grades, it cannot be revisited after submission, and criterion feedback at the right moment is cheap relative to its weight. Families consistently underbuy here and overbuy generic revision later.

The lowest-value windows are the two most popular. The first is the fortnight immediately after a disappointing mock, when the instinct is to buy as many hours as possible in as many subjects as possible; the result is breadth with no diagnosis. The second is the final fortnight before the papers, when nothing new can be learned and the only useful work is technique and timing.

The table maps the two years by term with what an hour achieves in each. Use it to move hours earlier rather than to add more of them.

05

Monthly package or hourly rate

Most tuition in Dubai is sold monthly, which makes comparison harder rather than easier because the unit is a month instead of an hour. Published figures read in October 2026 cluster at about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions, with Bestimate's wider monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions running roughly AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support.

Convert everything to two numbers before comparing: total minutes and contact points. Eight 60-minute sessions and four two-hour sessions contain the same minutes, but eight contacts keep weekly pressure and produce eight written records, while four long visits concentrate the teaching and spend part of each one arriving and settling. For a student who needs steady accountability the first is better; for a single large coursework push the second may be.

Then look at the terms rather than the headline, because that is where the money actually goes. Rollover of unused sessions, the notice required to cancel, whether the rate changes closer to the May session, and whether VAT is included. A package that looks cheaper and expires monthly is more expensive than one that looks dearer and carries forward, for any family whose term includes a school trip.

Blocks are the third option and the one this page keeps recommending. A finite component block with a stated number of sessions, a start and an end date, and marked work at each end is the only shape in which the total is known before you commit and the outcome is measurable afterwards. It is also the shape providers are least keen to sell, because it does not renew by default.

The table compares the shapes on the things that matter rather than on the monthly figure.

The costs that never appear on a tutoring quote

Four costs sit around a Dubai IB plan and are almost never mentioned by anyone selling tuition, which means families meet them as surprises in the term when there is least room. None of them is a tuition cost, and none should be presented as something a tutoring provider handles on your behalf.

Examination entry as a private candidate is the first. If a student sits a paper outside their own school, entry runs through a recognised examination centre at the centre's and the board's prices, with deadlines months ahead of the papers. In the UAE the series available are the Cambridge June and November series, Cambridge offering its February/March series to India only, and the Pearson May/June and November series. For a Cambridge June entry the deadline falls in the spring, well before the papers, and the exact date comes from the centre's key dates rather than from us. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six timetable zones and states that using the wrong zone's timetable is the candidate's risk.

Ministry of Education equivalency and attestation is the second. It is a documentary process run by the Ministry, with sourced requirements for the British track and no published IB points figure that anyone should be quoting without a moe.gov.ae source. Describe it, verify it on the official channel, and treat any provider offering to perform or guarantee it as overstating what it can do. Nobody should imply that tuition is required for equivalency, admission or progression.

The third is the mandatory UAE subject load. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils and combined classes explicitly prohibited. Those lessons sit inside the school day and inside the fee, but any additional support for them is a separate line a Diploma budget rarely includes.

The fourth is resources the family ends up buying: a graphic display calculator the student actually owns, printing for data-based questions, the school's editions of set texts. Small individually and worth listing, because they land in the same month as the first tuition invoice. What should not be on that list is past papers, mark schemes or subject guides — those are the boards' copyright, the school holds the licence, and no provider should be selling them to you.

07

VAT, cancellation and the four lines to get in writing

Four questions, answered in writing before any money moves, prevent nearly every tuition billing dispute. They are ordinary questions and an honest provider answers each in a sentence. A provider who answers in paragraphs of reassurance has told you something useful at no cost.

The first is VAT. Ask whether the quoted AED figure includes it. We do not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as a general fact on this page, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation we are not in a position to give; what a provider can and should tell you is simply whether its own quoted price is inclusive. Get that in writing and the invoice will match the conversation.

The second is where marking happens. A provider at AED 200 an hour who marks between sessions delivers more teaching minutes than one at AED 170 who reads the script in front of your child, so this single answer changes the real cost per useful hour more than the rate does. The third is the cancellation window: how much notice, what happens to a session lost to a school event, and whether unused sessions carry forward.

The fourth is whether the rate changes closer to the May session. Answers differ across this market and the question is asked surprisingly rarely. A provider that raises rates in the peak eight weeks is not necessarily behaving badly, but a family planning a final revision block needs to know before building the budget around the current figure.

One more, specific to anything described as free. Caution in this market is warranted around conditions attached to free trials: card details taken, automatic enrolment into a package, or a trial that converts unless cancelled. Our trial takes no card details and books nothing afterwards, and any condition attached to the word free should be visible on the same screen as the word.

08

The cheapest honest plan that still works

If the budget is genuinely tight, there is a version of this that costs very little and is not a compromise so much as a different order of operations. It starts with the part that is free and ends with the smallest number of paid hours the diagnosis actually justifies.

Step one costs nothing: get the three documents the school already holds. The last marked script with the teacher's annotations, the assessment calendar with internal deadlines, and the criterion list for any coursework component. Most families have never asked for the second and third, and they turn a vague worry into a specific plan with dates attached.

Step two is a free trial lesson with a written diagnosis, which converts the worry into a number of hours. If the diagnosis says two sessions of accuracy drilling on units and significant figures, buy two sessions. That is a complete and honest plan and it costs a fraction of a monthly package. The temptation to round it up to a term is the single most common overspend in this market.

Step three is to spend the remaining budget on the highest-value window rather than the most anxious one: the fortnight before a coursework draft deadline, or the first term of DP1 if you are early enough to choose. Coursework support is cheap relative to its weight in the grade, and criterion feedback at the right moment is the best-value hour in the Diploma.

Step four is free again: use the student's own work as the record. A baseline script, a topic checklist and a numbered list of work each week cost nothing and do most of what a paid hour is often bought to do. Where the honest answer is that no paid hours are needed at all, we would rather say so than sell a package into a situation that does not need one.

09

Why online delivery changes the arithmetic in Dubai

Stated plainly, because it is the largest single line in this page's arithmetic. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. There are no IB Gram premises in the country. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

The money consequence is direct. Published in-home rates in Dubai run AED 180-350 at Bestimate and AED 200-500 for independent home tutors, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The gap is broadly a car in evening traffic. For a Diploma student who will sit at a desk and work, that premium buys presence and adds no teaching minutes, which makes it the clearest avoidable cost in a plan.

There is a second, larger saving that does not appear as a rate. A visiting hour contains roughly thirty-five to forty minutes of teaching once arrival, settling and in-lesson marking are counted; a video hour with marking done between sessions contains close to sixty. Priced per useful minute rather than per nominal hour, the difference is considerably bigger than the headline rate difference.

The third effect is on availability, which is a cost in disguise. Matching across the whole pool rather than within a twenty-minute drive is what makes the tight Higher Level specialisms available at all, and a family that cannot find a specialist ends up buying more hours from a generalist to reach the same place. That is the most expensive way to spend a tuition budget and it rarely shows up as overspending.

The honest limitation remains physical. Bench practicals and arts exhibitions happen at school and belong to the school, and a young or reluctant student who needs an adult present is better served by a different arrangement. For everybody else, the arithmetic on this page points one way.

Areas we cover across Dubai

Spending patterns differ across Dubai more than rates do. The notes below record what families in each area typically buy, which is useful mostly as a check on whether your own plan is shaped by evidence or by what the neighbours are doing.

Beside the densest IB school cluster, so families here compare quotes constantly and tend to overbuy breadth: three subjects at one session each rather than one done properly. The local market is competitive, which helps on rate and not on plan.

Dubai Hills Estate and Meydan

Shortlists here are frequently sorted by price downwards from the top band, on the assumption that the premium is a quality signal. Sometimes it is. The question worth asking is whether the premium buys something the specific component needs.

Arabian Ranches 2 and 3

Established villa communities with long school runs, which historically made in-home visits the default and expensive. The travel element inside those rates is the single largest recoverable cost in a plan from this area.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Jumeirah Village Triangle

High-turnover catchments where families are often new to the Diploma and buy monthly packages because they are easier to compare. Converting the package to minutes and contact points usually changes the decision.

Discovery Gardens and The Gardens

Budget-conscious households where the realistic choice is between a generalist at the bottom band and a small number of specialist hours. For an identified Higher Level component, fewer specialist hours is the better purchase.

Deira and Al Rigga

Plenty of low-cost local supply aimed largely at other curricula. A Diploma family here can spend a full budget on hours that are cheap per unit and poorly matched, which is the most expensive outcome available.

Nad Al Sheba and Dubai Modern catchment

Continuum IB families who often start support in DP1 rather than DP2. That timing lowers the effective cost of the same outcome, because availability is easier and the work can be spread across more weeks.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

The cheapest tutoring supply in the emirate advertises here, next to the university cluster. Appropriate for Standard Level topic gaps and a false economy for Higher Level coursework, where the feedback is given against criteria the tutor has not read.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Al Barsha South, Dubai Hills Estate and Dubai Science Park

A cluster where school fees sit at the upper end and tuition is frequently added without a budget being set. Students we support here most often need one or two Higher Level subjects rather than the broad coverage families initially ask for, which usually reduces the quote rather than raising it.

  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Durham School Dubai
  • Kings' School Dubai
  • GEMS Metropole School

Arabian Ranches, The Springs and Dubai Sports City

Long school runs made visiting tutors the historical default in this cluster, at published in-home rates of AED 180-500 an hour against AED 150-300 online for a qualified subject tutor. Recovering the travel element is the clearest single saving available to families here.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS United School Dubai
  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills

Deira, Al Mamzar and Al Qusais

A district with abundant low-cost tutoring supply oriented to other curricula, where the risk is not overpaying per hour but paying for poorly matched hours. Students we support in this cluster are often the only Diploma candidate in their immediate circle.

  • Al Ittihad Private School Al Mamzar
  • Deira International School
  • The Westminster School Dubai
  • Sheffield Private School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School

Schools are named only as context for Dubai's schooling market; IB Gram holds no affiliation with, endorsement from or relationship to any school listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Collect the three free documents

The last marked script with annotations, the school's assessment calendar with internal deadlines, and the criterion list for any coursework component. Your school holds all three at no cost, and together they turn an open worry into a plan with dates on it before any money is involved.

  2. 02

Take the free trial and get the hour count

Sixty minutes with a matched specialist, no charge and no card details, producing a written diagnosis you keep either way. The important output is not reassurance but a number: how many sessions the identified problem actually implies. That number is what makes any quote assessable.

  3. 03

Decide the window before the amount

An hour in DP1 term one, or in the fortnight before a coursework draft deadline, does more than an hour in the final fortnight before the papers. Move hours earlier rather than adding more of them, which usually lowers the total rather than raising it.

  4. 04

Get the four lines in writing

Whether the quoted AED figure includes VAT, where marking happens, what the cancellation and rollover terms are, and whether the rate changes closer to the May session. Four sentences, answered by email, and the invoice will match the conversation in month three.

  5. 05

    Buy a block, then review

A finite component block with a stated number of sessions and marked work at each end, rather than a monthly arrangement that renews by default. Review against the two scripts and then decide whether to continue, move to a second subject, or stop.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every figure attributed

Each AED number on this page names the provider that published it and the month it was read, and none of them is an IB Gram price. In a market where three of six ranking pages publish no price and one contradicts its own structured data, attribution is the differentiator.

A diagnosis before a quote

A rate quoted before anybody has read a marked script is a number attached to an unknown quantity. Our sequence is a free trial with no card details, a written diagnosis, then a conversation about how many hours that diagnosis implies.

Finite blocks, not default renewals

Most identified component problems are four to six sessions. We will say so even when a monthly package would be worth more to us, and a block has a stated end date rather than rolling over unless cancelled.

The travel premium removed

Published in-home rates in Dubai run AED 180-500 an hour against AED 150-300 online for a qualified subject tutor. Teaching over video removes that premium and adds roughly twenty teaching minutes per nominal hour, because no journey or settling sits inside it.

Clear about what is not ours to charge for

Examination entry, resits, equivalency and attestation belong to the boards, the examination centres and the Ministry. We describe them, point you at the official channel, and never present them as a service we perform or guarantee.

No claims we cannot evidence

No KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry, IB, Cambridge or Pearson approval, no UAE premises, no star rating and no promise about a final grade. We also do not state the VAT treatment of tuition as a general fact, only whether a quoted price is inclusive.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does two years of IB tuition cost a Dubai family?+

Using published market bands read in October 2026, a fairly typical plan — one Higher Level subject weekly across DP1, coursework blocks for the internal assessment and Extended Essay, a second subject for one term in DP2, and a twelve-week revision block — comes to roughly 74 hours and an indicative AED 12,800 to 27,300. That is an illustration from other providers' rates, not an IB Gram price. The variable you control is hours, and moving them earlier lowers the total more reliably than negotiating a rate.

How much of a tuition budget should go on the final six months?+

Less than most families spend there. Demand across the Gulf concentrates in the eight weeks before the May session, which raises rates and collapses availability in the tight Higher Level specialisms at exactly the moment you have least room to choose. An hour in DP1 term one buys more grade movement and costs less. If you are already in DP2, spend the first session on a diagnosis rather than on content, however counter-intuitive that feels with the calendar closing.

Did the KHDA fee freeze change what families spend on tuition?+

It changed the room available rather than the decision. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. A family that had budgeted for an increase now has a known amount of flexibility. Whether it goes on tuition, on an additional examination entry, or on nothing at all is worth deciding deliberately rather than by default.

What does a private candidate pay to sit IGCSE papers in Dubai?+

Whatever the recognised examination centre charges, plus the board's own fees, and those vary by centre so the centre is the only reliable source. The deadlines matter as much as the cost. A UAE candidate sits the Cambridge June or November series, or the Pearson May/June or November series, and on both boards the entry closes months before the first paper, so the cheque and the decision are needed a term earlier than families expect. The Pearson November 2026 timetable, for instance, ran from late October to 19 November 2026 against an entry window that had closed over the summer. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six timetable zones and states that using the wrong zone's timetable is the candidate's risk. No tutoring provider can enter your child.

Which single decision moves a Dubai tuition bill the most?+

Whether a tutor travels. Published in-home rates run AED 180-350 at Bestimate and AED 200-500 for independent home tutors, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The premium is a car in evening traffic, and for a Diploma student who will sit at a desk it buys presence rather than teaching minutes. The second largest is where marking happens, because that changes the useful minutes inside the hour you are already paying for.

Is one subject at two sessions a week better value than two subjects at one?+

Usually, yes, provided there is a diagnosis. One subject at two sessions allows a diagnose-rebuild-retest cycle inside a fortnight, which is how a component actually moves. Two subjects at one session each gives neither enough contact to complete a cycle, and gives the student twice as much work set with no extra evening to do it in. The exception is where a coursework deadline in a second subject is imminent, since internal assessment work cannot be revisited later.

What does a coursework support block cost in the Dubai market?+

It is usually priced as a block rather than hourly, because the work happens in bursts around the school's draft stages rather than weekly. Using the specialist band of AED 200-450 an hour published in this market, a five-session internal assessment block sits at roughly AED 1,000 to 2,250. Relative to the weight of internally assessed work — roughly a fifth to a quarter of most subject grades — that is the best-value spend in the Diploma, and families consistently underbuy it.

Should we budget for tuition in DP1 or wait until DP2?+

DP1, for three reasons that all reduce the total. A problem diagnosed in DP1 term one is still two topics rather than a whole subject. There are enough weeks for the work set between sessions to actually be done, which is where most of the learning happens. And availability in the tight Higher Level specialisms is manageable rather than scarce, so you are not paying peak-demand rates for a substitute. A DP2 spring rescue buys the same hours at the worst moment.

How do we compare a monthly package with an hourly rate in Dubai?+

Convert both to total minutes and contact points, then read the terms. Published packages cluster at about AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions — the same minutes with half the contacts and part of each visit spent arriving. Then check four things: rollover of unused sessions, notice to cancel, whether the rate changes before May, and whether VAT is included. A package that expires monthly is dearer than it looks for any family with a school trip in the term.

Does the hourly rate rise as the May session approaches?+

Answers differ across this market, which is why the question is worth asking in writing before you build a budget on today's figure. What is consistent is that availability falls sharply in the eight weeks beforehand, because demand concentrates across the whole Gulf at once and the tight Higher Level specialisms disappear from early-evening slots first. A family that intends to buy a final revision block should secure the slot well before the term it is needed in.

Are there months in the Dubai calendar where tuition is wasted money?+

Two, in practice. The final fortnight before the papers, when nothing new can be absorbed and the only useful work is technique, timing and sleep — paying for new content there is paying for anxiety management. And the fortnight immediately after a disappointing mock, if the response is to buy breadth across four subjects with no diagnosis. Ramadan is not one of them: sessions can move to a post-Iftar slot and work perfectly well, provided the change is agreed a fortnight ahead.

What is the cheapest honest way to support a Standard Level subject?+

Get the three free documents from the school, take a free trial to convert the worry into an hour count, then buy only the hours the diagnosis justifies. A Standard Level accuracy problem is often two to four sessions of units, significant figures and exact forms — a complete plan at a fraction of a monthly package. The temptation to round that up to a term is the commonest overspend in this market, and a provider who encourages it is selling continuity.

Does the quoted rate in Dubai include VAT?+

Ask, and get it in writing, because the answer varies by provider. We do not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as a general fact, since that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation; what any provider can tell you is simply whether its own quoted figure is inclusive. That one sentence prevents the commonest billing dispute in private tuition, and a provider unwilling to put it in an email has told you something before you have spent anything.

Is the most expensive hour in Dubai the most useful hour?+

Only where the premium matches the need. The top band, published at AED 500-650 or more, is sold on a claim — examiner experience, a reputation — which may be real and should be asked to evidence itself with a board, a subject and a recent series. For a three-session Standard Level topic fix it is a waste. For a specific, identified Higher Level component need it may be exactly right. The band to avoid for Higher Level coursework is the bottom one, where feedback is given against criteria the tutor has not read.

Why does online delivery change the arithmetic for a Dubai family?+

Three ways. It removes the travel premium, which published figures put at roughly AED 30 to 200 an hour between in-home and online qualified teaching. It adds teaching minutes, because a video hour with marking done beforehand contains close to sixty against thirty-five to forty for a visit. And it widens the specialist pool, which matters because a family that cannot find a specialist buys more generalist hours to reach the same place. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE.

What if the budget only covers a handful of hours?+

Then buy a diagnosis and the single highest-value block, and use free resources for the rest. The diagnosis is free with our trial; the school's marked scripts, assessment calendar and criterion lists cost nothing; and a numbered list of work each week does much of what a paid hour is often bought for. Spend the paid hours in the fortnight before a coursework draft deadline, where criterion feedback is cheap relative to the weight of the component. Where no paid hours are needed, we will say so.

Decide the hours before you choose the tutor

The useful version of best IB tuition in Dubai is the plan that converts the money you have into the largest number of hours spent in the right window. Start with the three documents your school already holds, take a free trial lesson with no card details and get the written diagnosis, then decide how many hours the diagnosis actually implies and which term they should sit in. Get VAT, marking, cancellation and peak-season pricing in writing, buy a finite block, and review it against two marked scripts.
