IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Hudayriyat Island

Looking for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Hudayriyat Island quickly becomes a pricing question, because there is no school or tuition centre on the island and every quote arrives with a journey inside it. This page explains how to read a quoted rate, where the published AED figures actually come from, and what a wasted month costs. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video.

  • A quoted rate decomposed into teaching, marking and travel
  • The published AED sources named, with what each can and cannot tell you
  • The cost of a bad first month, stated in money and in weeks
  • Free trial lesson first, no card, no automatic renewal

IB & IGCSE in Hudayriyat Island

Every quote has three things inside it

A tutoring rate is not one price. It is at least three components bundled into a single number: the teaching hour itself, whatever happens outside the hour, and travel. Providers quote the total and almost never break it down, which is why two quotes that look twenty per cent apart can be buying entirely different things. Learning to decompose a quote takes one conversation and is the most useful consumer skill available in this market.

Hudayriyat Island makes the travel component unusually visible. It is a recently developed island off the western side of Abu Dhabi, reached by bridge, with leisure and residential districts and no school or tuition centre on it. Every student here travels, mostly across to Al Bateen and Al Mushrif, and any visiting tutor is making a bridge crossing in both directions for a single lesson. That is a real cost and it sits inside whatever rate you are quoted, undeclared.

The second component — what happens outside the hour — is the one that decides whether the money does anything. Written work set with an instruction about what to show, that work returned marked against the published scheme rather than ticked, an error log kept across papers, and a diagnosis in writing. None of that is visible in a rate, all of it is askable in advance, and in our experience the presence or absence of it explains more variation in outcome than the price does.

Published rate information in this market is also thinner and less reliable than it appears, which is worth knowing before comparing numbers. Of six researched competitor pages in this cluster, three publish no price at all — one asks the price in its own list of frequently asked questions and then declines to answer it — and two of the three that do quote in US dollars, a currency UAE families do not transact in. So a parent comparing quotes is often comparing a real figure with an absence.

Delivery, stated plainly: IB Gram does not offer home visits on Hudayriyat Island or anywhere in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. From an island with bridge access and no local provision, the cost case for that is strong and the choice case is stronger: requiring a specialist in a given course and level to also cross the bridge at five in the afternoon frequently leaves nobody at all.

What follows is the pricing material. A quoted rate decomposed, with the question that exposes each component. The travel premium worked through for bridge access. Where the published AED figures come from and what each source can and cannot tell you. What a new community without a school changes. The cost of a wasted first month, which is larger than families assume. What to put in writing before paying. The three purchases worth making at any budget. And the limits we work inside.

At a glance

  • A rate bundles the teaching hour, the work outside it, and travel, and providers rarely separate them
  • What happens outside the hour explains more of the outcome than the price does
  • Half the researched competitor pages in this cluster publish no price at all
  • A bridge crossing in both directions sits inside any in-home quote here
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video, not a tutor crossing to Hudayriyat Island
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What a household is buying differs by programme, and so does the shape of the invoice. These are the three routes a Hudayriyat Island family is most likely budgeting for.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson IGCSE

Terminal written papers across eight or nine subjects, tiered by board, with coursework minimal or absent in most. The spend tends to be steady and the pressure terminal, which makes a fixed weekly arrangement a reasonable fit where one is genuinely needed.

The rationing problem is at its sharpest here because of the number of subjects. The cheapest effective spend in the IGCSE years is early: work in Year 9 or early Year 10 can change which tier a school enters a student for, and the tier sets the grade ceiling.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internally assessed work in every subject with published criteria and word limits, which makes the spend lumpy rather than even and clusters it around school deadlines.

The best value purchase in the Diploma is usually a core component rather than a subject. Theory of Knowledge carries twenty marks across two assessments with word limits of sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty words, and almost no household budgets for it.

ASAAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level

Staged assessment across AS and A2, narrower subject choice, greater depth per subject. Fewer subjects to fund than IGCSE and more depth in each, which usually means fewer and longer arrangements rather than more of them.

For Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students must show one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, alongside five accredited IGCSE subjects at grade E or grade 3 or better. Verify current requirements officially.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These notes are about what a pound of effort returns in each subject, which is what a household comparing quotes across subjects actually needs to weigh.

Mathematics, IGCSE and Diploma

All tiers and levels

The clearest value across both systems, because faults are specific and diagnosable. Higher Level Diploma Paper 3 is worth a fifth of the grade in a single hour and is the least practised component anywhere in the programme.

Chemistry

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good value where the hour produces marked written answers. The Diploma investigation is marked on the design of the investigation rather than on how tidy the results are, which is a correctable misunderstanding worth a session on its own.

Physics

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good value with a caveat that saves money: a physics difficulty is often an algebra difficulty, and a tutor who establishes that first avoids a term spent teaching the wrong subject at the wrong rate.

Biology

IGCSE, SL and HL

Value is a function of method, not of price. The subject responds to written answers marked against the scheme and barely at all to explanation, so a knowledgeable tutor who does not mark represents poor value at any rate.

English, First Language and Language A

0500, SL and HL

High value per hour where feedback is on the student's own writing. The Diploma's Individual Oral is a bounded, trainable task that students almost never rehearse under conditions, which makes it unusually cheap to improve.

Economics and Business

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good value because the faults are structural: evaluation missing, diagrams imprecise, commentaries summarising an article rather than applying a theory. A handful of sessions produces visible change in marked work.

The science practical component

IGCSE, all boards

Strong value and rarely bought, because families do not realise practical skills are examined in writing. Method descriptions, graph scales and error questions respond to four marked attempts.

Theory of Knowledge

Diploma core

The best value component in the Diploma and the least purchased. Twenty marks against published instruments with strict word limits, and very little structured teaching on how the instrument is applied.

Extended Essay support

Diploma core

Thirty-four marks with critical thinking alone worth twelve. Best bought at the research question and first draft stages; money spent in the final week mostly rearranges an argument that is already fixed.

A subject already at the top of its range

Any

No value at any rate, and we say so. The question worth asking any provider is which subject they would refuse, because the answer reveals how they make decisions about somebody else's money.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, described by what the invoice actually covers rather than by how they sound. The point of the distinction is that the same hourly number can mean any of the three.

Teaching hour only

The cheapest honest product: a tutor's time in the session, with no work marked outside it. Suitable for a student who needs company and routine rather than diagnosis, and genuinely useful for that. We would rather name it than let a family assume more is included.

  • An hour of teaching or supervised work, and no more
  • No written diagnosis and no marking between sessions
  • A reasonable purchase where routine is the problem

Teaching plus marked work

The arrangement that moves grades. A session, plus written work set with an instruction about what to show, returned marked against the published scheme, with an error log maintained across papers and a review date with a measure attached.

  • A written diagnosis in the first week naming the faults found
  • Marks against the published scheme rather than ticks
  • An error log a parent can read without subject knowledge

Bounded block on one named component

Three to five sessions on something specific: Theory of Knowledge, an Individual Oral, Paper 3 technique, the science practical paper, a diagnosed procedural fault. The cheapest meaningful purchase on this page and often the whole of what is needed.

  • One named target with a fixed number of sessions
  • Diagnostic set before and repeat set afterwards
  • No continuation by default when the block closes

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Hudayriyat Island

01

Decomposing a quoted rate

The first thing to do with any quote is to ask what is inside it, because the single number conceals three separable components and the proportions differ wildly between providers. The teaching hour. Whatever happens outside the hour. And travel, where applicable, which from Hudayriyat Island is never zero for a visiting arrangement.

The teaching hour is the part everybody assumes they are buying and the part that varies least. A competent subject teacher delivering an hour is roughly a comparable thing across the middle of the market. What differs enormously is the second component — marking, diagnosis, logging, review — which is invisible in a rate and decisive in an outcome. At the budget end it is absent by necessity, because nobody paid AED 45 to 150 an hour is being paid for time outside the session.

The third component is travel. Published in-home rates in the emirate run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online on agency rate pages, all read in October 2026. From an island reached by bridge, the gap between those bands is largely a crossing in each direction plus the risk that it goes badly.

The table gives the question that exposes each component. None is awkward, all are factual, and asking them before paying is considerably cheaper than discovering the answers afterwards. A provider who answers all four plainly is describing a service. One who treats them as distrust is describing something they would rather you did not look at closely.

02

The travel premium, worked through for bridge access

Hudayriyat Island is reached by bridge from the western side of Abu Dhabi island, and a visiting tutor is therefore making two crossings and two approach drives for a single hour of teaching. That is a straightforward cost and it has to be recovered somewhere: either in the rate, in the length of the session, or in the tutor accepting a lower effective hourly return, which they will not do indefinitely.

Decompose it against the published figures. If a qualified subject tutor online is quoted at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour and a visiting tutor at AED 180 to 500, the difference at comparable teaching quality is the journey. For a bridge crossing with an afternoon approach, the loading will sit toward the upper part of that range rather than the lower, because the tutor is pricing unpaid time as well as fuel.

What the premium buys is physical presence in the room, and that genuinely matters for some students: younger ones, students who need supervision rather than teaching, and students for whom a screen is itself an obstacle. We say that plainly, because a page which pretends one format suits every child is not useful to anybody. What the premium does not buy is better teaching, better marking or a better match.

What it costs, beyond money, is choice — and on this island that is the decisive point. Take the set of people who can teach a given Diploma course at Higher Level or a given IGCSE specification at Extended tier. Intersect it with the set willing to cross the bridge at five in the afternoon. Intersect that with the set free on the specific weekday your household can hold. The result is frequently empty, and a family facing an empty set substitutes a generalist who is available. A generalist at specialist prices is the worst transaction in this market.

03

Where the published AED figures come from

Comparing rates assumes there are rates to compare, and in this market that assumption is shakier than it looks. Of six competitor pages examined in this cluster, three publish no price at all. One of those lists the price among its own frequently asked questions and then does not answer it. Two of the three that do publish quote in US dollars, which is not a currency UAE families transact in, so a parent has to convert before comparing and is converting somebody else's undated figure.

That leaves a small number of usable sources, and it is worth knowing what each one is. Cost-estimate survey sites compile ranges across providers and publish them as market rates; the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table is the one most often cited and is the source for most of the banded figures on this page. Agency rate pages publish their own prices, which are real but self-interested and specific to one provider's model. Platform rate cards publish entry-level figures that often describe a different product from the one a family ends up buying. Marketplace listings vary tutor by tutor and frequently in other currencies.

The limitation common to all of them is dating. A rate published two years ago and never revised is still sitting on a page being read today, and one researched competitor's comparison panel was twenty-one months out of date when examined. Any figure worth using carries the date it was read, which is why every band on this page says October 2026. A number without a date is not evidence; it is decoration.

The practical use of the table is as a sanity check rather than a guide. If a quote sits far outside the published bands in either direction, ask why. Far above usually means a journey, a premium positioning or both; far below usually means the marking is absent. Neither is disqualifying and both are worth knowing before the first invoice.

04

A new community with no school and no centre

Hudayriyat Island is a recently developed part of the emirate, with leisure, sporting and residential districts and no school or tuition centre on the island itself. For a family thinking about education costs, that has three consequences and all of them are financial.

The first is that every student travels, so a school choice is also a daily journey and the journey is paid for in study hours as well as fuel. A student crossing the bridge to Al Bateen or Al Mushrif each way has materially less usable study time than one who walks to school, and that matters for which tuition purchases are realistic. A Higher Level Diploma subject is the least tolerant of a thin practice schedule.

The second is that there is no local provider pool. A tuition centre serves a catchment and no centre serves this island; an independent tutor builds a local client base and there is not yet a local base to build. So the in-person options are people travelling in, at a premium, from a limited set of those willing to do it. That is simply the state of a new community and it will change as the island develops.

The third is that the free options still exist and are unaffected by any of this. The school's own intervention or support class is at the school, which the student attends anyway, and it is free, taught by somebody who knows the specification and has seen the work. Reading three published mark schemes costs nothing. Twenty minutes a day of retrieval practice — writing an answer on an old topic without notes, then marking it against the scheme — costs nothing and outperforms the rereading most students do. On an island with no local provision those three are the first things to exhaust, not the last.

05

The cost of a wasted first month

Families budget for tuition and almost never budget for a bad start, which is the most common single loss in this market. A month spent with the wrong match, the wrong format or the wrong diagnosis costs the fees plus something considerably more expensive, and the arithmetic is worth seeing.

Take a mid-market weekly arrangement. On published monthly estimates of roughly AED 600 to 1,200 for a weekly hour, a wasted month is that figure in cash. It is also four sessions of a student's limited evening capacity, a month of written practice that did not happen or happened unmarked, and — most expensively — a month closer to a fixed deadline. In an examination year, where the entry deadline and the series are immovable, a month is a measurable fraction of the time available, and no refund recovers it.

There is a further cost that does not appear on any invoice. A family that endures a poor arrangement for a term concludes that tutoring does not work. That is a reasonable conclusion from their evidence and a wrong general one, and it often means the student receives no further support at all. The damage of a bad first month therefore extends beyond the month.

All of which argues for the cheap protections rather than the expensive ones. A free trial lesson tests the match and the format before any commitment. A written diagnosis in week one makes the plan falsifiable. A review date with a stated measure means the arrangement fails visibly in week three or four rather than invisibly in week ten. And a stated replacement policy means a wrong match can be corrected without an argument. The table puts the figures against the weeks.

06

What to put in writing before paying

Almost nothing in this market is written down, and almost everything that matters could be. A short written exchange before the first invoice prevents most of the disputes and all of the ambiguity, and no legitimate provider should object to any of it.

Six items cover it. Whether the rate is per hour or per lesson, and the length of a lesson. Whether marking of written work between sessions is included or charged separately. What notice is required to cancel a session, on both sides, and what happens to a session cancelled late. Whether the first payment commits you to a block, and whether anything renews automatically. What happens if the match is wrong and a replacement is needed. And the date and measure of the first review.

Two further items are specific to this market and worth adding. The conditions attached to any free trial should appear on the same screen as the offer: ours is one lesson, no card required, no block commitment afterwards and nothing renewing, and that is the whole of it. And the data question, because tuition involves information about a minor — what is collected, why, and how to have it deleted, with a privacy link available. The UAE has a federal personal data protection law, and a form gathering a child's school, grades and photograph without a stated purpose is a problem regardless of intent.

None of this requires a contract or a lawyer. A message with six numbered questions and the answers kept is sufficient, and it changes the dynamic: a provider who has written down what they will deliver is accountable to it, and a parent who has the answers can tell at the review whether it happened. The absence of any of this is the single clearest signal that an arrangement is being sold on reassurance rather than on substance.

07

The three purchases worth making at any budget

Whatever a household can spend, three purchases return more than their cost almost regardless of the student, and they are rarely the ones families buy first. Each is bounded, each is cheap relative to a term, and each addresses something the school is unlikely to cover in depth.

The first is a diagnosis. One session in which a specialist reads the last marked script against the published scheme and categorises every lost mark — content never learned, method misapplied, notation or calculator, command word misread, exact form not given, ran out of time — produces a plan that a family can act on with or without further tuition. Many families then find the plan is executable at home for free, and we would rather that than sell a term against a guess.

The second is a mark scheme session. Published schemes are free on the boards' own sites and almost no student has read one. One or two sessions reading real schemes alongside the student's own script, identifying the credit that was available and unclaimed, changes the shape of their written answers permanently. It is the single cheapest intervention with a durable effect that we know of in this subject area.

The third depends on the programme. For a Diploma student it is Theory of Knowledge, which carries twenty marks across two assessments against published instruments with strict word limits and receives very little structured teaching. For an IGCSE science student it is the practical paper, where method writing, graph scales and error questions are examined in writing and almost nobody practises them. Both are three to five session blocks and both address marks nobody else is competing for.

08

The permit, our status and the claims we will not make

Since this page is about pricing, the permit position matters: it is free, so no part of any rate should be attributed to it. The UAE private tuition work permit is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years, with the ministry's own service page listing no fee and a two working day completion time, applied for through its smart app, website and e-services system. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen.

Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No schedule of amounts has been published and press reporting states that the ministry did not specify the fine amounts or detail the penalties, so a specific dirham figure quoted as the penalty is invention, and a useful test of whether a provider's other claims are sourced. In Abu Dhabi, press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules indicates school staff may not take paid private tutoring work with students enrolled at their own school.

An operation with premises needs its own permit from the emirate regulator; in Dubai that is an educational services permit for a training institute issued by KHDA, obtained through initial approval followed by permit and licence steps with annual renewal. IB Gram holds none because it has no premises: it is an independent online matching platform with no office, centre or branch in the UAE, holding no accreditation, licence, approval or partnership from ADEK, KHDA, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB, and it is not a registered examination centre.

On claims: we publish no star rating, review count or satisfaction statistic, because stating one honestly requires the sample size, the date and the method alongside it, and because providers in this market display ratings that contradict each other on the same page. Every AED figure here is attributed and dated October 2026 and none is our price list. We decline to produce assessed work of any kind at any price, and no tutor can promise a grade, a points total or a university outcome.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Hudayriyat Island

Hudayriyat Island is reached by bridge from the island's western side, so these are the districts its families travel to and the ones their quotes come from.

Al Bateen

The nearest district across the bridge, with long-established schools and the shortest journey a Hudayriyat family makes. Most visiting quotes here originate from this side.

Al Mushrif

Central island, close to several of the emirate's oldest private schools. A slightly longer run and the same afternoon traffic on the return.

the Corniche

North along the waterfront, dense and apartment-based. Comparable journeys and the same competition for late-afternoon specialist slots.

Al Zahiyah

The north-eastern corner of the island. A longer run from Hudayriyat and a useful comparison, since the same specialists cover both.

Saadiyat Island

North, with an IB-heavy school profile and a higher fee base. Families there face the same rationing question with larger numbers attached.

Khalifa City

Across the bridges on the mainland, the main mainland cluster. A long afternoon return to Hudayriyat and the largest travel loading of this group.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Decompose the quote before comparing it

Ask whether the rate is per hour or per lesson, who marks written work and against what, how much of it is the journey, and what happens if the match is wrong. Four factual questions, and they separate quotes that look similar.

  2. 02

Buy a diagnosis before buying a term

One session in which a specialist reads the last marked script against the published scheme and categorises every lost mark. The resulting plan is actionable with or without further tuition, and sometimes it is executable at home for free.

  3. 03

Exhaust what the island cannot charge you for

The school's own support class, three published mark schemes read with your child, and twenty minutes of daily retrieval practice. None of them is affected by living somewhere without local provision, and all three are free.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson, then a written review date

One live video lesson, no card required, no block commitment and nothing renewing. Then a review date with a stated measure, so the arrangement fails visibly in week three rather than invisibly in week ten.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The quote is broken into parts

Teaching hour, work outside the hour, and travel. Providers quote the total and rarely separate them, which is why two similar-looking quotes can be buying different things. We name the components and the questions that expose them.

Our sources are named and dated

Every AED band on this page is attributed to a published source and dated October 2026, and the limitations of each source type are set out. A number without a date is decoration rather than evidence.

The travel premium is declared

A bridge crossing in each direction sits inside any in-home quote here. We do not offer home visits in the UAE because that service runs only in India, and we explain the arithmetic rather than simply asserting a preference.

A bad first month is costed

The fees, four sessions of limited evening capacity, a month of unmarked practice and a month closer to a fixed deadline. The protections against it — a trial, a week-one diagnosis, a review measure — are free.

We recommend the free options first

A school support class, published mark schemes and daily retrieval practice are unaffected by having no provision on the island, and for a meaningful share of students they are sufficient. A cost page that omits them is advertising.

No ratings, no guarantees, no price list here

We publish no satisfaction statistic because doing so honestly needs its sample size, date and method. We hold no regulator accreditation, have no UAE premises, and decline to produce assessed work at any price.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Hudayriyat Island: your questions answered

How do I compare two tutoring quotes from Hudayriyat Island?+

Decompose them. Every rate bundles three things: the teaching hour, whatever happens outside the hour, and travel. Ask whether the rate is per hour or per lesson and how long a lesson is; who marks written work between sessions and against what; how much of the figure is the journey; and what happens if the match is wrong. Two quotes twenty per cent apart frequently turn out to be buying entirely different products once those are answered.

How much of a visiting tutor's rate is the bridge crossing?+

A substantial part of the gap between the bands. Published in-home rates in the emirate run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, all read in October 2026. For a crossing in each direction with an afternoon approach, the loading sits toward the upper part of that range rather than the middle.

Why do so few tutoring companies publish their prices?+

It is a real pattern rather than an impression. Of six competitor pages examined in this query cluster, three publish no price at all, and one of those lists the price among its own frequently asked questions and then declines to answer it. Two of the three that do publish quote in US dollars, which UAE families do not transact in. So a parent comparing quotes is often comparing a real figure against an absence, which is worth knowing before drawing conclusions.

Where do the AED figures on tutoring pages actually come from?+

A small number of sources with different limitations. Cost-estimate survey sites compile ranges across providers; the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table is the most cited and is the frame for most banded figures. Agency rate pages publish their own real but self-interested prices. Platform rate cards publish entry-level figures describing the cheapest product. Marketplace listings vary tutor by tutor, often in other currencies. All of them need the date they were read attached.

Is there any tuition provision on Hudayriyat Island itself?+

Not at present. The island has leisure, sporting and residential districts and no school or tuition centre, so every student travels, mostly across to Al Bateen and Al Mushrif. There is consequently no local provider pool: a centre serves a catchment and none serves this island, and an independent tutor builds a local client base that does not yet exist here. That is the state of a new community and it will change as the island develops.

What does a wasted first month of tuition cost?+

More than the fees. At mid-market published estimates a month is roughly AED 600 to 1,200. It is also four sessions of a student's limited evening capacity, four weeks of written practice that did not happen or happened unmarked, and a month closer to a fixed deadline that no refund recovers. And a family that endures a poor arrangement for a term often concludes tutoring does not work, which means the student gets no support at all afterwards.

What should I get in writing before the first payment?+

Six things. Whether the rate is per hour or per lesson, and the lesson length. Whether marking between sessions is included or charged separately. Cancellation notice on both sides and what happens to a late cancellation. Whether the first payment commits you to a block or renews automatically. What happens if the match is wrong. And the date and measure of the first review. A numbered message with the answers kept is enough; no contract is needed.

What are the conditions on a free trial lesson?+

Ours are: one lesson, no card required, no block commitment afterwards, and nothing renewing automatically. That is the whole of it. Elsewhere, ask for the conditions on the same screen as the offer, because an offer described as free with an undisclosed requirement attached is not free. If a trial needs card details, a subsequent commitment, or is only free if you continue, those are conditions you are entitled to see before giving your details.

What is the single cheapest purchase that makes a difference?+

A diagnosis. One session in which a specialist reads the last marked script against the published mark scheme and categorises every lost mark — content never learned, method misapplied, notation or calculator, command word misread, exact form not given, ran out of time. The resulting plan is actionable with or without further tuition, and a fair number of families find they can execute it at home for nothing, which we would rather than sell a term against a guess.

Which component should a Diploma student buy if they can buy only one?+

Theory of Knowledge, almost always, and almost nobody does. It carries twenty marks — ten for the essay and ten for the exhibition — against published instruments with strict word limits of sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty words, and students receive very little structured teaching on how those instruments are applied to what they have written. Three to five sessions aimed exactly at that typically returns more per dirham than the same money added to a fourth subject.

Does a tutor charge extra for the UAE permit?+

They should not, because the permit is free. It is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, and the ministry's own service page lists no fee and a two working day completion time. A tutor who tells you the permit is costly is mistaken, and anyone quoting you a specific fine for tutoring without one is inventing it, since no schedule of amounts has been published anywhere.

What free options still work from an island with no provision?+

All of them, because none depends on local supply. The school's own intervention or support class is at the school your child already attends, is usually free, and is taught by somebody who knows the exact specification and has seen their work. Reading three published mark schemes costs nothing. Twenty minutes a day of retrieval practice — writing an answer on an old topic without notes, then marking it against the scheme — costs nothing and outperforms rereading.

Why does IB Gram not publish a rating or a price list here?+

A rating stated honestly requires the sample size, the date and the method alongside it, and providers in this market display ratings that contradict each other on the same page, including figures in markup that differ from what a visitor sees. We would rather be judged on a free trial lesson. On price, the figures here are the market's, attributed and dated October 2026, and quoting our own alongside them would blur the distinction this page exists to draw.

Is IB Gram licensed or approved to operate in Abu Dhabi?+

No, and nor should any platform tell you it is without a document to show. IB Gram is an independent online matching platform with no office, centre or branch in the UAE and no accreditation, licence, approval or partnership from ADEK, KHDA, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB. An operation with premises would need a permit from the emirate regulator; we have no premises. Naming regulators on this page explains what they do, nothing more.

Four questions turn a quote into a comparison

Is the rate per hour or per lesson. Who marks written work between sessions, and against what. How much of this figure is the journey. And what happens if the match is wrong. Ask those of every provider, including us, and the quotes stop looking alike. Then buy a diagnosis before buying a term, and try the school's free support class first, because neither depends on there being provision on the island. Lessons here run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; we do not offer home visits in the UAE, and the trial is one lesson with no card and no commitment.
