IB Home Tutor in Eastern Mangroves

An IB home tutor in Eastern Mangroves is usually sought because a date has arrived: an Extended Essay draft, a Theory of Knowledge deadline, a final stretch before the papers. So this page is built around the Diploma core's own calendar rather than around subjects. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and runs no home visits in the UAE.

IB & IGCSE in Eastern Mangroves

The core has its own calendar, and it governs the year

Families plan Diploma tuition around subjects and then collide with the core. The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS each run on their own schedule, each consumes weekends rather than evenings, and together they produce two or three weeks a year in which a student can do almost nothing else. A tuition plan that treats the year as evenly busy will be rescheduled during exactly those weeks, which are the weeks it was most needed.

Eastern Mangroves sits on the north-eastern edge of Abu Dhabi island, waterfront apartment living beside the mangrove channels and the promenade, close to Al Salam Street. There is no school in the development, so every student travels — mostly to Al Mushrif, Al Bateen and the central districts, some out to the Khalifa City corridor — and the afternoon is correspondingly long. That reduces the week's slack, which makes placing sessions well more important rather than less.

The core is also where the marks nobody budgets for sit. The Extended Essay carries thirty-four marks across five criteria, and critical thinking alone accounts for twelve of them — more than a third of the essay. Theory of Knowledge carries twenty, ten for the essay and ten for the exhibition, both marked against published instruments. Those are substantial numbers attached to components that receive comparatively little structured teaching in most schools and almost no household spending anywhere.

Word limits are part of the calendar rather than a formatting detail, because they are what makes a late draft unsalvageable. The Extended Essay stops at four thousand words. The Theory of Knowledge essay stops at sixteen hundred and the exhibition commentary at nine hundred and fifty. Markers stop reading at the limit, so a student compressing a finished argument into the limit in the final week cuts the analytical passages — which is to say, the passages the largest criterion rewards.

Delivery, stated plainly: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Eastern Mangroves or anywhere in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. For a calendar-driven plan that is a practical advantage: a video session can be moved to a different evening in a deadline week, run post-Iftar during Ramadan, continue while a family is travelling, and does not fail because a tutor is held up on Al Salam Street.

What follows is the core's calendar in usable form. The two-year chain across the three components. The Extended Essay milestone by milestone with the risk of arriving late at each. Theory of Knowledge and its two windows. An honest answer to the most common request we receive, which is for help only in the final stretch. What happens after results. When to pause sessions deliberately. The Eastern Mangroves afternoon. And the dates and limits we will not cross, including the examination dates we decline to publish.

At a glance

  • The Extended Essay carries 34 marks, with critical thinking worth 12 of them
  • Theory of Knowledge carries 20 marks across the essay and the exhibition
  • Word limits are absolute: markers stop reading at four thousand, sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty words
  • The core produces two or three weeks a year in which little else can happen
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video; IB Gram runs no home visits in the UAE
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The core components are what distinguish the Diploma from every alternative route, and they are the part a family is least likely to have planned for. These are the three, with their calendar shapes.

EEAges 16-19 · across DP1 and DP2

The Extended Essay

An independent research essay of up to four thousand words in a chosen subject, supervised at the school, marked against five criteria totalling thirty-four marks: focus and method, knowledge and understanding, critical thinking, presentation, and engagement. Critical thinking carries twelve of those marks on its own.

Its milestones span a year and each consumes a weekend, which makes it the single clearest argument for collecting the school's published deadline calendar at the start of DP1. For an Eastern Mangroves household with a long afternoon, those weekends are the real capacity being spent.

TOKAges 16-19 · across DP1 and DP2

Theory of Knowledge

Two assessments against published instruments: an exhibition, with a commentary of up to nine hundred and fifty words, and an essay of up to sixteen hundred words on a prescribed title. Ten marks each. Taught across both years, usually in a weekly lesson, and assessed at two specific points.

The component with the best return on a small amount of support and the one least often bought. Students generally receive little structured teaching on how the published instrument is actually applied to what they have written, which is exactly where three to five sessions make a difference.

CASAges 16-19 · across DP1 and DP2

Creativity, Activity, Service

A required programme of experiences and a project, not graded but necessary for the award of the Diploma. It occupies fixed afternoons and weekends in most schools, with a reflective record that students defer and then have to reconstruct.

CAS is the most common reason a particular weekday is unavailable for tuition all year, and the most common reason a family's calendar has fewer usable evenings than they assumed. Asking the school which days it occupies, and whether that is fixed, is the first scheduling question of DP1.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

The six subjects alongside the core

Three at Higher Level and three at Standard, each with its own internally assessed component carrying published criteria and word limits, and each with external papers at the end. Eighty per cent or so of each subject grade sits in those papers in most subjects.

The subject internal assessments and the core deadlines are set by the same school and frequently land in the same weeks, which is what produces the two or three impossible weeks a year. Mapping them together at the start of the year is the single most useful planning act available.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the core and subject components with a calendar position, and what each needs at which point. Reading them as a chain rather than a list is what makes a plan possible.

Extended Essay research question

DP1, second half

The decision that fixes the ceiling. A question too broad cannot be answered in four thousand words, and one too narrow cannot support the critical thinking criterion. Discussed with the school supervisor, who approves it within the school's process.

Extended Essay research and reading

DP1 end into DP2 start

Where the material for the critical thinking criterion is gathered, including the counter-evidence that an argument has to handle. Research done late produces an essay that asserts rather than weighs, which caps the largest criterion.

Extended Essay first full draft

DP2, mid

The one formal opportunity for supervisor feedback within the rules, and students waste it by submitting an outline. A draft close to complete attracts feedback on substance; an outline attracts feedback on structure, which the student already knew.

Theory of Knowledge exhibition

Usually DP1 or early DP2

Three objects and a commentary of up to nine hundred and fifty words, marked out of ten against the published instrument. Students treat the objects as the task; the commentary is where the marks are, and it is short enough that every sentence counts.

Theory of Knowledge essay

DP2

Up to sixteen hundred words on a prescribed title, marked out of ten. The common failure is writing about the topic rather than about knowledge, which is a conceptual misunderstanding rather than a writing problem and is correctable in two sessions.

Subject internal assessments

Across DP1 and DP2

Each with its own criteria and limits: three thousand words for the sciences investigation, twenty marks for the mathematics exploration, twenty-five for the History internal assessment. They cluster with the core deadlines, which is what creates the impossible weeks.

Higher Level Paper 3 preparation

DP2, before the run-in

Worth a fifth of the Higher Level grade in mathematics and in several sciences, and the last thing scheduled. It needs full papers sat to time in the term before the run-in rather than inside it.

Mocks

DP2, usually a term before the series

Diagnostic rather than predictive, and frequently sat before the syllabus is complete. The week after a mock is the most valuable in the term because the scripts are the freshest evidence available all year.

The final run-in

DP2, final weeks

Rehearsal only. Timing, exact form, command terms, calculator recording and question selection all improve reliably. Content never taught and underlying fluency do not, and we say so rather than implying otherwise.

After results

Following the session

Reviewing a result, understanding what a remark or enquiry involves, and deciding whether to sit a subsequent session. All of it governed by the school and the organisation's own published deadlines rather than by any tutoring provider.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements defined by where they sit in the core's calendar. All are bounded except the first, and the bounded ones are usually the better purchase.

Deadline-anchored core blocks

Sessions placed at the Extended Essay research question and first draft stages, and at the two Theory of Knowledge assessment points. The tutor teaches the criteria and questions the student's own work; the student produces every word, which we state to them at the first session.

  • Criteria taught by letter with mark allocations and word limits
  • Feedback on the student's own draft; no text supplied for submission
  • Timed to the school's published internal dates

Weekly subject arrangement with the calendar written in

A standing weekly slot for one subject, with the known heavy weeks marked in advance and sessions moved out of them rather than cancelled. The arrangement that survives a Diploma year is the one that planned its interruptions before they arrived.

  • Deadline weeks and mock fortnights identified in week one
  • Ramadan timing agreed in advance, usually post-Iftar
  • Extra time placed in the week after a mock, not during it

Final-stretch block, honestly scoped

A bounded run of sessions in the last weeks, aimed only at what that period can change: timing, exact form, command terms, calculator recording, question selection. We will say plainly where the diagnosis shows the honest purchase is a plan for a later session instead.

  • Full papers sat to time and marked against the published criteria
  • No new content introduced in the final week
  • A stated list of what the block will not attempt

01

The core's two-year chain

Schools sequence the core differently, so the table is a typical shape rather than a rule, and your school's published calendar is the authority. What is consistent is that the chain runs continuously and does not pause for subject assessments, which is what produces the collisions.

The pattern worth noticing is that the core's heaviest moments are concentrated in the middle of the programme, roughly from the second half of DP1 to the middle of DP2. That is also when subject content is heaviest and when the subject internal assessments fall. Students therefore end up writing both the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay in the busiest months of the two years, and almost every version of the problem a family brings us in DP2 traces back to that overlap.

The remedy is unglamorous and effective: collect the published calendar in the first week of DP1, mark every core and subject deadline on a single household calendar, and look at which weeks collide. Those weeks are the ones to protect, and the only way to protect them is to do work earlier. The Extended Essay research question chosen in the second half of DP1 rather than at the start of DP2 is the single largest piece of protection available.

The table also shows where tuition belongs. Not spread evenly, but placed at the points where a student is making a decision that caps a criterion — the research question, the choice of Theory of Knowledge title, the first draft — and at the two or three points where a bounded block addresses a specific assessment. Even support across a Diploma year is almost always the wrong shape, and it is the shape most providers sell.

The Extended Essay, milestone by milestone

Thirty-four marks, five criteria, four thousand words, a year of elapsed time and a single formal feedback opportunity. The Extended Essay rewards early work more clearly than any other component in the Diploma, and it punishes lateness in a way that cannot be recovered by effort in the final fortnight.

The criterion weighting explains why. Critical thinking carries twelve of the thirty-four marks — more than a third — and critical thinking is a function of the research. An essay built on material gathered in a hurry can describe and cannot weigh, because weighing requires counter-evidence the student never collected. Polishing presentation in the final week reaches four marks at most. No amount of late writing reaches the twelve.

The word limit compounds it. Markers stop at four thousand words, so a student who has written five thousand must cut a thousand, and under time pressure they cut the analysis rather than the description, because description feels like content and analysis feels like padding. That is precisely backwards against the criteria, and it is the most common self-inflicted loss on the component.

The boundary applies throughout and we state it to students directly. A tutor may teach what each criterion rewards, discuss whether a question can support them, read the student's own draft, ask the questions that expose an unsupported claim and name the criterion a section is failing. A tutor may not supply sentences, restructure a draft into a finished piece or produce any part of it. The school supervisor is the one inside the formal structure and the one who authenticates the work; a private tutor authenticates nothing and must never give advice that contradicts them.

Theory of Knowledge: two assessments, two windows

Twenty marks sit here, split evenly between an exhibition and an essay, and both are marked against published instruments rather than against a marking grid of the kind students are used to from subjects. That difference is the reason students who write well elsewhere score poorly here: they produce a competent piece of writing about the wrong thing.

The exhibition comes first in most schools. Three objects, and a commentary of up to nine hundred and fifty words explaining how each connects to a prescribed prompt. Students treat selecting the objects as the task. The marks are in the commentary, and at that length every sentence has to do work: a paragraph of introduction is a tenth of the available space spent on nothing. A single session on how the instrument reads a commentary typically changes a student's whole approach.

The essay comes later, up to sixteen hundred words on a prescribed title, and the characteristic failure is writing about the topic rather than about knowledge. A title concerning historical evidence invites an essay about history; the marks are for an argument about how knowledge in history is produced and justified. Students who have not had that distinction made explicit write fluent, well-organised, low-scoring essays, and no amount of editing rescues one because the problem is the subject of the sentences.

Both are strong candidates for a short bounded block, which is why we recommend them more often than families expect. Three to five sessions, timed to each window, aimed at how the published instrument is actually applied to what the student has written. Against twenty marks and almost no structured teaching elsewhere, that is the best return available anywhere in the Diploma per dirham spent, and virtually nobody buys it.

04

'We only want help for the final stretch'

This is the most common request we receive from Abu Dhabi families and it deserves a straight answer rather than an upsell. The honest version has two halves, and both are true at the same time.

The first half: a final-stretch block genuinely works on four things. Timing, through full papers sat to the clock with per-question timings recorded. Command-term discipline, which is a vocabulary problem solvable in two sessions. Exact form, rounding and notation habits, which are a single instruction consistently enforced across marked work. And question selection, including the rule that no part of a question is abandoned before the given working is attempted. On a paper where the content is broadly known, those together often produce a double-digit mark swing, and that is a real purchase with a real effect.

The second half: it does not rebuild underlying fluency, teach content that was never taught, or improve an internally assessed piece that has already been submitted. Fluency needs months of practice capacity that a final term does not contain. Untaught content needs teaching time the week no longer holds. And a submitted Extended Essay or exploration is finished — the marks are set, and a tutor who implies otherwise is describing something that would be malpractice anyway.

So the answer we give is conditional. Send the last marked script. If it shows technique faults — misread commands, early rounding, unrecorded working, unfinished papers — a final-stretch block is the right purchase and we will scope it, including a written list of what it will not attempt. If it shows content gaps spread across topics, the honest purchase is a plan for a later session rather than this one, and we will say so and decline the booking. Families find the second answer unwelcome and, in our experience, remember it.

05

After results: what happens and who acts

Results arrive and a family has a short period in which several decisions have to be made, usually with incomplete information. Knowing the shape of that period in advance converts it from a scramble into a sequence, and none of the steps belongs to a tutoring provider.

The first thing to understand is who acts at each stage. The school holds the relationship with the organisation and makes any enquiry about results on a candidate's behalf; a family cannot do it directly, and a tutor has no role whatsoever. Deadlines for enquiries and remarks are published and short, and they are the reason a disappointing result needs a conversation with the school within days rather than weeks. The coordinator is the single point of contact for all of it.

The second is that an enquiry is not an appeal against difficulty. It is a request for a specific review process, with its own fee and its own possible outcomes, including no change and, in some processes, a downward one. The school will explain what applies and what the realistic prospects are, and that conversation should happen before a request is made rather than afterwards. We are not a party to any of it and will not advise on the merits.

The third is the subsequent-session question. A candidate may sit a later session, and how internally assessed marks are handled between sessions is a matter for the coordinator rather than for any website. The table sets out the sequence and what to have ready at each step. No specific results date or deadline appears in it, because those come from the organisation's own published material and from your school, and a date a parent acts on should not come from a tutoring page.

THE PERIOD AFTER RESULTS: SEQUENCE AND RESPONSIBILITY
StepWho actsWhat governs the timingWhat to have ready
Reading the result by componentThe family, with the schoolPublished per session by the organisationThe subject-by-subject breakdown, not just the total

06

Pausing deliberately, rather than drifting

Most tuition arrangements end by drifting: a cancellation, a holiday, a deadline week, and then nobody restarts it. That is the worst way to stop, because it carries no decision and no information. Pausing on purpose is better in several specific situations and almost nobody offers it.

The clearest case is a deadline fortnight. A student with an Extended Essay final submission and two subject internal assessments in the same two weeks has no capacity for new teaching, and a session in that window produces nothing except guilt about the work not done. Moving the sessions out and placing extra time in the week afterwards is a better use of the same money, and the week after a deadline or a mock is genuinely the most valuable in the term.

The second case is a successful repair. Where a bounded block has fixed a named fault and the marked evidence shows it, the right action is to stop and see whether the repair holds. Continuing by default converts a defined purchase into an open-ended one and removes the evidence that the first block worked. We would rather close a block and have a family return in a term than bill continuously through a year.

The third case is a load problem. A competent student carrying three Higher Levels, the full core, mandatory subjects and a long daily journey may simply lack the hours the courses assume. Adding or continuing a session in that situation displaces the written practice that makes sessions work, so the intervention makes things worse. The honest response is a conversation with the Diploma coordinator about level or subject load, and we will say so rather than keep a booking that is making a student's week harder.

07

Eastern Mangroves: waterfront apartments and a long afternoon

There is no school in the Eastern Mangroves development, so every student travels, and the practical planning number is arrival rather than the published finish time. From the eastern waterfront, journeys run to Al Zahiyah and the central districts, out to Al Mushrif and Al Bateen, and for some families across the bridges to the Khalifa City corridor.

The method is to measure rather than estimate. Record the actual arrival time for five consecutive days, take the latest of the five rather than the average, and add fifteen minutes for changing and eating. That is the slot. For a central island school it will usually be four o'clock or a little after; for a mainland school, five or later; and a school bus route adds thirty to fifty minutes to any published finish, which is the variable most often forgotten.

Apartment living adds two further practical points. A one-to-one session needs a door that closes and a surface large enough for an A4 pad and a laptop, and in a household with other children that space has to be allocated rather than assumed. And for a visiting arrangement there is parking, visitor registration and lift time at both ends of the hour, none of which is teaching and all of which is paid for — one reason published in-home rates in the emirate run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in survey data and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Eastern Mangroves or anywhere in the UAE, since home visiting is a service we run only in India. For a calendar-driven Diploma plan the scheduling argument matters as much as the cost one: a video session can move to a different evening in a deadline week, run at a different hour during Ramadan, and continue while a family is away for part of the summer — which is when the most productive core work of the whole programme can happen.

08

Dates we will not publish, and the limits we keep

A page organised around a calendar has a particular obligation about dates, so the omissions here are deliberate. No Diploma examination window, upload deadline or results date appears, because the organisation's own site is the only place those can be confirmed, automated access to it is blocked, and any site quoting you one without citing it is passing on something unverified. The session UAE schools sit is the May one. Your school's Diploma coordinator holds every date that matters, including the internal ones that matter more than the examination.

Nor does any grade boundary appear. Boundaries are set after each session in light of that session's papers and candidate performance, and published afterwards; they move between sessions, and a fixed figure on a tutoring page is a fabricated certainty. What is stable and more useful is the published criteria: thirty-four marks across five Extended Essay criteria with twelve for critical thinking, ten each for the Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition, and the word limits of four thousand, sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty.

On assessed work, the boundary is firm and stated to students at the first session. A tutor teaches what each criterion rewards, discusses whether a question or title can support them, reads the student's own draft, questions it and names the criterion a section is failing. A tutor does not supply sentences for submission, restructure a draft into a finished piece, provide solutions for live assessed work or sit beside a student during an assessment. A provider in this market advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; we decline to produce assessed work at any price, and the consequence of buying it falls on the student's whole entry.

On status: IB Gram is an independent online matching platform with no office, centre or branch in the UAE, holding no accreditation, licence, approval or partnership from the IB, ADEK, KHDA, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, and it is not a registered examination centre. Any paid private tutor in the Emirates needs a private tuition work permit issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years. No tutor can promise a grade or a points total, and we publish no rating or satisfaction statistic.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Eastern Mangroves

Eastern Mangroves has no school in the development, so these are the districts its students travel to and the journeys that shape the usable evening.

Al Zahiyah

The adjacent north-eastern district, dense and apartment-based, with the shortest journey from the mangroves and several schools within a short drive.

Al Mushrif

Central island, close to several long-established private schools and a common destination from the waterfront. Twenty to thirty minutes in afternoon traffic.

Al Bateen

West across the island, with established Diploma provision. Quick in the morning and slow on the return, which is the asymmetry new families underestimate.

the Corniche

Along the northern waterfront, with the shortest school runs in the emirate and therefore the most evening capacity for deadline weeks.

Saadiyat Island

North, low density, IB-heavy. A popular destination from the island's eastern districts and one of the longer afternoon returns.

Khalifa City

Across the bridges, the main mainland cluster. A finish before three can still mean arriving home after half past three, and later with a bus route.

School ecosystem

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Collect the core calendar in week one of DP1

Extended Essay milestones, both Theory of Knowledge assessment windows, CAS fixed days and every subject internal assessment date, marked on one household calendar. The collisions are then visible a year ahead rather than a fortnight ahead.

  2. 02

Protect the summer between the years

No school deadlines compete for it, which makes it the most productive window in the whole programme for Extended Essay research and a real first draft. Specialist availability is also at its widest, so plan it in the spring.

  3. 03

Place sessions at decisions, not evenly

The research question, the Theory of Knowledge title, the first draft. Those are the points where a choice caps or protects a criterion, and a session before each is worth more than several sessions spread through a quiet month.

  4. 04

    Free trial lesson, scoped honestly

One live video lesson with a matched specialist who has read the marked evidence. If the diagnosis says a final-stretch block cannot do what you are hoping for, we will say so and decline rather than take the booking.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The core is planned, not rescued

The Extended Essay chain and both Theory of Knowledge windows mapped against the subject internal assessments at the start of DP1, so the two or three impossible weeks a year are visible and protected in advance.

Criteria and limits taught as marks

Thirty-four marks with twelve for critical thinking, ten each for the Theory of Knowledge components, and word limits that decide whether the analysis survives. We teach those explicitly, because markers stop reading at the limit.

An honest answer on final-stretch help

Timing, command terms, exact form and question selection improve reliably in a last block. Fluency, untaught content and submitted coursework do not. We scope the block in writing, including what it will not attempt.

Pausing offered deliberately

Out of deadline fortnights, after a successful bounded repair, and where the diagnosis is load rather than learning. Arrangements that drift to a halt carry no decision and no information; a planned pause carries both.

Supervision roles kept straight

The school supervisor is inside the formal structure and authenticates the work. A private tutor authenticates nothing, never contradicts them, and produces no text. That is said to the student at the first session.

No dates or boundaries we cannot stand behind

No Diploma examination or results date appears here, and no grade boundary, because boundaries are set per session and published afterwards. Your coordinator is the source for both, and that is where we send families.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Eastern Mangroves: your questions answered

Why plan IB tuition around the core rather than the subjects?+

Because the core is what produces the impossible weeks. The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS each run on their own schedule, each consumes weekends rather than evenings, and their deadlines frequently land in the same weeks as the subject internal assessments. A plan that treats the Diploma year as evenly busy gets rescheduled during exactly those weeks. Mapping the core and the subject deadlines on one calendar at the start of DP1 is the most useful planning act available.

How many marks does the Extended Essay carry, and where?+

Thirty-four across five criteria: focus and method, knowledge and understanding, critical thinking, presentation, and engagement. Critical thinking alone carries twelve of them, which is more than a third of the essay, and it is a function of the research rather than of the writing. An essay built on hurried reading can describe and cannot weigh, because weighing requires counter-evidence that was never collected. Polishing presentation in the final week reaches four marks at most.

Why do word limits matter so much in the Diploma core?+

Because markers stop reading at the limit, so anything beyond it is unmarked. The Extended Essay stops at four thousand words, the Theory of Knowledge essay at sixteen hundred and the exhibition commentary at nine hundred and fifty. A student cutting a thousand words under time pressure removes the analysis rather than the description, because description feels like content. That is exactly backwards against criteria that reward critical thinking most heavily.

What should be ready before the Extended Essay first draft?+

Something close to complete rather than an outline. The draft is the one formal opportunity for supervisor feedback within the organisation's rules, and a student who submits an outline receives feedback on structure they already knew. A near-complete draft attracts feedback on substance, which is the feedback worth having. The difference is a fortnight of earlier work, and it is worth more than any number of sessions bought afterwards.

Why do strong writers score poorly in Theory of Knowledge?+

Because they write a competent piece about the wrong thing. A prescribed title concerning historical evidence invites an essay about history, whereas the marks are for an argument about how knowledge in history is produced and justified. Students who have not had that distinction made explicit produce fluent, well-organised, low-scoring essays, and editing does not rescue one because the problem is the subject of the sentences rather than their quality.

Is the Theory of Knowledge exhibition commentary worth paying for?+

It is among the best value purchases in the whole Diploma and almost nobody makes it. Ten marks, a commentary of up to nine hundred and fifty words, and marking against a published instrument that most students have never had explained. At that length every sentence has to work: a paragraph of introduction spends a tenth of the space on nothing. One or two sessions on how the instrument reads a commentary often changes a student's entire approach.

Can you help only for the final stretch before the papers?+

Sometimes, and we will tell you which case you are in after reading the last marked script. A final block reliably improves timing, command-term discipline, exact form and rounding habits, and question selection, which together often produce a double-digit swing where the content is known. It cannot rebuild fluency, teach untaught content, or change a submitted internal assessment. If the script shows content gaps across topics, we will say the honest purchase is a plan for a later session.

What is the best time to work on the Extended Essay?+

The summer between DP1 and DP2. Nothing competes for the time: no homework in six subjects, no Theory of Knowledge deadline, no subject internal assessment. Research done then has room to include counter-evidence, which is what the critical thinking criterion rewards, and a real first draft can exist before DP2 begins. Specialist availability is also at its widest in that period, so plan it in the spring rather than in August.

Who makes an enquiry about results, and when?+

The school, never the family directly, and quickly. The school holds the relationship with the organisation and acts on a candidate's behalf, the deadlines are published and short, and a tutor has no role at all. So a disappointing result needs a conversation with the Diploma coordinator within days. An enquiry is a specific review process with its own fees and possible outcomes, including no change, and the coordinator will explain the realistic prospects before a request is made.

When should we deliberately pause tuition sessions?+

Three situations. In a deadline fortnight, when a student has no capacity for new teaching and the money is better spent in the week afterwards. After a bounded block has fixed a named fault and the marked evidence shows it, so you can see whether the repair holds. And where the diagnosis is load rather than learning, because adding sessions to a full week displaces the practice that makes sessions work. Drifting to a halt carries no decision and no information.

What time can a session start from Eastern Mangroves?+

Measure rather than estimate: record the actual arrival time for five consecutive days, take the latest of the five rather than the average, and add fifteen minutes. For a central island school that is usually four o'clock or a little after. For a mainland school it is five or later. A school bus route adds thirty to fifty minutes to any published finish, which is the variable families most often forget when they book an unworkable slot.

Does a tutor visit homes in the Eastern Mangroves development?+

Independent tutors in the emirate do, and IB Gram does not. We teach one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time and run no home visits in Eastern Mangroves or anywhere in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we offer only in India. In apartment living, part of what a visiting rate covers is parking, visitor registration and lift time at both ends of the hour, which is one reason published in-home rates run from AED 180 to 500 against roughly AED 150 to 300 online.

Can a tutor work on the Extended Essay with my child?+

Within a boundary we state to the student at the first session. A tutor teaches what each criterion rewards, discusses whether a question can support them, reads your child's own draft, asks the questions that expose an unsupported claim and names the criterion a section is failing. A tutor does not supply sentences, restructure a draft into a finished piece or produce any part of it. The school supervisor is inside the formal structure and authenticates the work; a tutor authenticates nothing.

Why will you not publish the Diploma examination dates here?+

Because the organisation's own site is the only place they can be confirmed, automated access to it is blocked, and a date a parent might act on should not come from a tutoring page. The session UAE schools sit is the May one, with a second session available. Your school's Diploma coordinator holds the examination windows, the upload deadlines and the results dates, and the internal deadlines they also hold matter more to a plan than the examination date does.

Map the core first, then buy at the decisions

Collect the Extended Essay milestones, both Theory of Knowledge windows, the CAS fixed days and every subject internal assessment date, and put them on one calendar in the first week of DP1. The collisions become visible a year ahead. Then place support at the points where a decision caps or protects a criterion — the research question, the title, the first draft — rather than spreading it evenly. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, timed around the Eastern Mangroves afternoon; we run no home visits in the UAE, and the trial is one lesson, scoped honestly.
