IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Riqqa

Families searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Riqqa are usually budgeting for more than one year and often for more than one child. Taken across Years 10 to 13, the spending decisions that matter are sequence and specificity, not the hourly rate. Al Riqqa sits nearest Umm Al Quwain's Ajman border; IB Gram delivers one-to-one over live video.

IB & IGCSE in Al Riqqa

Budget for four exam years, not for one quote

Most tutoring pages answer the question "what does an hour cost". That is the wrong unit for a family in Al Riqqa with a child entering Year 10, because the spending runs across four exam years and, in many households here, across two children. Judged over that span, the hourly rate is one of the smaller variables. The larger ones are when you spend, how precisely you spend, and how much of what you buy is travel rather than teaching.

The sourced figures first, so the rest has something to stand on. Published UAE market rates read in October 2026: budget online tutoring at AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik publishing AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52; a qualified subject tutor online at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200; an IB or IGCSE specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270; in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 500, with Bestimate at 180 to 350 and independent home tutors at 200 to 500; and premium named tutors at AED 500 to 650 or above, with BartyED publishing AED 650.

Monthly, which is how households plan: published packages include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session are AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. These are market figures published by the parties named. IB Gram does not publish a price list on these pages, because an honest number depends on subject, level and availability.

Now the structural point. IGCSE and the Diploma have different cost profiles. IGCSE money is best spent on mark-scheme technique in the final year, because the assessment is terminal and predictable and the gains are fast. Diploma money is best spent early, on coursework and research questions in DP1, because those deadlines bind first and a bad research question costs weeks that no hourly rate recovers. Households that spend in the wrong order on each pay more and get less, and that single observation is worth more than any rate comparison.

The geography matters only in one respect. Al Riqqa is the closest part of Umm Al Quwain to the Ajman border, so it is the cheapest address in the emirate for a visiting tutor. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. We match on board, code and level and teach over live video, which removes the travel line from the bill entirely. The rest of this page prices the four-year view, names where households here overspend, and lists what nobody should be charging you for at all.

At a glance

  • IGCSE spending works best late: paper technique in the final year
  • Diploma spending works best early: coursework and research questions in DP1
  • Qualified subject tutor online: AED 150 to 300 an hour on published 2026 figures
  • In-home one-to-one: AED 180 to 500 an hour with the drive inside the rate
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge and valid for two years
  • Al Riqqa is the shortest drive in the emirate from the Ajman school corridor
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four exam years, four different spending profiles. The cost of a point is not the same in each, and knowing which year you are in is most of the budgeting problem.

IGCSE-Y10Ages 14-15

Year 10, the first IGCSE year

Half the specification is taught and, for Cambridge, the Core or Extended tier is decided. Core caps the grade at C and Extended reaches A*, so this is the cheapest year in which to buy a decision and the most expensive one in which to get it wrong.

The highest-value purchase for an Al Riqqa family in Year 10 is a short diagnostic block rather than a term of weekly hours: three or four sessions of Extended-standard questions under real timing, marked against the official scheme, produces evidence the school will take seriously about which tier fits.

IGCSE-Y11Ages 15-16

Year 11, the IGCSE exam year

Specification completion plus past-paper technique, and most of the recoverable marks sit in the second. Mark schemes reward specific working, specific wording and specific units, so a student who knows the content and not the scheme loses method marks everywhere. This is the year where money converts to marks fastest.

Specialist rates bite hardest in the weeks before a series, when demand peaks and the late evening slots a commuting Al Riqqa household needs are the first to fill. Booking in the autumn rather than the spring buys the same specialist at the same rate in a better slot.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma year one

Content load plus the start of the coursework: the Extended Essay research question, the first Internal Assessments, the TOK exhibition. Nothing feels urgent and almost everything later urgent is being decided here. Hours bought in DP1 do more per dirham than hours bought anywhere else in the two years.

This is the discount almost nobody takes. Al Riqqa households typically call in the DP2 autumn, when mocks, coursework deadlines and university applications arrive together inside an evening window already shortened by the Ajman school run. The same work a year earlier needs fewer hours because nothing has to be repaired.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

Diploma year two

Coursework completion, mocks, predicted grades and paper technique, in that order of urgency. Tutoring here is diagnostic rather than comprehensive: identify the question types reliably losing marks and work on those. It is the most expensive stage per unit of improvement because the cheap options have expired.

The binding constraints are the coordinator's internal deadlines rather than the May session itself. For a budget that means coursework coaching has to be funded before paper technique, because a missed internal deadline cannot be bought back at any hourly rate.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subjects an Al Riqqa household funds across both systems, with a note on which carry an extra coursework cost on top of exam preparation.

Mathematics (IGCSE)

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1

No coursework component, so the whole budget goes on paper technique. Marks are lost on transformations, bounds and the final part of multi-step problems where method marks were available for working that was never written down.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (IB)

HL and SL

Carries an internal exploration as well as papers, so budget two lines rather than one. Paper 3 at HL is a two-problem investigation worth 20% of the grade and the most expensive gap to leave open, because it needs practice rather than explanation.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (IB)

HL and SL

Also carries an exploration. The recurring loss is interpretation rather than calculation: a correct regression with no sentence explaining what it means collects only the calculation marks, which is cheap to fix once somebody has diagnosed it.

Physics

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

At IGCSE the practical or alternative-to-practical paper is a separate preparation cost from the theory papers. At IB level the internal assessment needs real uncertainty treatment, which is coursework coaching rather than subject teaching and should be budgeted as such.

Chemistry

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Cambridge 0620 Paper 6 rewards apparatus precision no textbook summary supplies. The IB internal assessment rewards a genuinely personal investigation, and discovering late that a reproduced textbook experiment sits mid-band is one of the costlier surprises in the Diploma.

Biology

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Command terms decide the mark in both systems: describe, explain, suggest, compare and evaluate each want a different answer shape. Genetics and homeostasis are the usual collapse points, and both respond quickly enough to be cheap to fix.

Economics

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0455

The IB IA is three 800-word commentaries on articles the student finds, and a badly chosen article wastes a fortnight of unpaid student time plus paid coaching time. At IGCSE, careless diagrams cost marks that cost almost nothing to recover.

Business

IB Business Management HL and SL · Cambridge 0450

The case study decides the grade in both systems, and application to the named business is the assessed skill. Among the cheapest improvements available, because candidates who revise definitions and ignore the stimulus are losing marks for a habit rather than a gap.

English

IB English A HL and SL · Cambridge 0500 and 0990 · Pearson 4EA1

At IGCSE, directed writing is marked on audience and form as much as content. At IB level the Individual Oral is internally assessed and externally moderated, and weak ones fail on the global issue rather than the texts, which is a planning cost rather than a teaching cost.

Computer Science

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0478

The subject where local supply most often fails in a small emirate, so the realistic cost is an online specialist at the qualified or specialist band. At IB level the internal assessment needs a real client and documented testing, not a working program alone.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to spend, with the cost logic of each stated. All run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time unless the group option is named.

Short diagnostic block

Three or four sessions that answer one question with evidence rather than opinion: which tier fits, which Maths route fits, why the marks do not match the understanding. The cheapest purchase on this page and the one that stops a household buying twenty hours of the wrong thing. The output is written.

  • Past papers marked against the official scheme
  • Lost marks sorted by cause rather than topic
  • A written conclusion you can take to the school

Weekly one-to-one, term by term

One or two hours a week following the school's own scheme of work. On published figures a weekly hour with a qualified subject tutor sits around AED 600 to 1,200 a month, and a specialist exam-year hour at AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more. Buy it by the term so it can be stopped or redirected at a review point.

  • Reviewed against marked work every six weeks
  • Session notes recording what was covered and set
  • Bought by the term, not open-ended

Coursework coaching, budgeted separately

Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay, the TOK essay and any IGCSE coursework component are different work from exam preparation and should be a separate budget line. A tutor teaches, reviews and gives feedback on the student's own writing. A tutor does not write, complete or produce it, and we decline that request.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Research-question triage before weeks are invested badly
  • Priced as a block, because the deadline is fixed

Sibling slots back to back

Two children, two consecutive video sessions on one evening, each with the right specialist. In a household funding an IGCSE candidate and a Diploma student at once this is the most efficient arrangement available: one evening occupied rather than two, no second travel premium because nobody travels.

  • Consecutive slots with different specialists
  • Separate session notes so the two plans stay distinct
  • No second drive, so no second travel premium

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Riqqa

01

The four-year view, priced

A household in Al Riqqa with a child entering Year 10 is looking at four exam years. Pricing that properly changes the decisions, because it shows that the expensive years are the ones where help is bought reactively and the cheap years are the ones most families skip.

The pattern is consistent. Year 10 is cheap and high-leverage: a short diagnostic block settles the Cambridge tier question, which fixes the grade ceiling for two years. Year 11 is where money converts to marks fastest, because the assessment is terminal and the losses are diagnosable from past papers. DP1 is the cheap window in the Diploma, when coursework decisions are made and nothing is urgent. DP2 is the expensive year, because specialist exam-year demand peaks, the late slots a commuting household needs fill first, and anything left undone has to be repaired rather than built.

Set against published monthly figures, a household that funds a weekly hour with a qualified subject tutor across the parts of those four years where it matters is spending in the AED 600 to 1,200 a month band during those terms, not continuously. A household that funds nothing until the DP2 spring is spending AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more a month, for more hours, in worse slots. The second household pays more in total for less.

The table below is deliberately about sequence rather than totals, because totals depend on subjects, how many children and how much the school covers. What it fixes is the order, and the order is the part that is the same for every family in this emirate.

What the wrong decision costs, in dirhams

Hourly rates are visible and decisions are not, which is why households optimise the first and ignore the second. Yet almost every large tutoring bill in this market traces back to a decision rather than a rate.

Take the Cambridge tier. A capable student entered for Core is capped at grade C for two years, and no amount of tutoring lifts a Core paper above its ceiling. The cost of that decision is not an hourly rate at all; it is a grade band, and it may close a sixth-form or degree route. Conversely a student entered for Extended who cannot complete a paper under timing scores below their Core potential, and the remedial hours bought in the final term are at the top of the market.

Take the board mismatch. A tutor who teaches Cambridge 0620 competently, hired for a Pearson 4CH1 candidate, delivers chemistry rather than specification. At AED 250 an hour over a term that is a four-figure spend on the wrong mark scheme, and it is the single most common avoidable waste we see in the northern emirates, usually arriving through an in-home arrangement where availability drove the choice.

Take the Diploma Higher Level choice and the research question. Three sciences at HL in a household with two usable weekday evening hours is a workload decision with a price attached. A research question that cannot be answered inside the word limit costs weeks of a student's time and then has to be rebuilt under deadline pressure with paid help. Both are cheap to get right in advance and expensive to fix afterwards, which is the whole argument for buying a diagnosis before buying hours.

One-to-one, group or package: comparing like with like

Three products are sold at very different prices in this market and they are not substitutes. Knowing which one a quote describes is the difference between a fair comparison and a false one.

One-to-one is attention plus specificity. The whole hour is spent on one student's losses, which is why it costs most and why it is the only format that reliably moves a grade in the final year. Small group, typically two to four students, is cheaper per student and works for content coverage: a topic can be taught to four people as easily as to one. What a group cannot do is sit with one student's marked paper and work through why that student loses marks, which is where most of the recoverable marks are. Ask what the group size actually is, because two and six are sold under the same word.

Packages are a pricing structure rather than a product. Published examples include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions, which is the same eight contact hours at roughly double the price for the in-home version. A package is good value if the sessions get used and poor value if a commuting household misses two a month, so the question to ask is what happens to unused sessions.

The fourth option deserves naming because it is free and under-used: the school. Teachers run clinics, departments publish past papers, and coordinators will explain deadlines to a parent who asks. None of that costs anything, and a household that exhausts it first buys fewer paid hours. A provider who never mentions the school as a first resort is selling you hours you may not need.

Where households in this emirate overspend

  • Paying specialist money for a tutor chosen by willingness to drive
  • Twenty hours of revision bought before three hours of diagnosis
  • Exam technique funded while a coursework deadline sits unmet
  • Two children on two in-home arrangements, paying the drive twice

Four patterns account for most of the waste, and all four are specific to a small emirate with a cross-emirate school run rather than being general advice.

The first is paying the travel premium and receiving availability. The in-home band at AED 180 to 500 overlaps the specialist band at AED 200 to 450, so a household can pay specialist money for a tutor selected because they were willing to drive to Al Riqqa. Al Riqqa is the shortest drive in the emirate, which makes this the cheapest version of the mistake, and it is still a mistake for an exam-year student.

The second is buying hours before buying a diagnosis. Six sessions of general revision at published mid-band rates is roughly AED 900 to 1,800 and changes little, because nobody established where the marks were going. Three or four sessions marking past papers against the official scheme and sorting losses by cause — content not known, method not shown, command term misread, units and notation, time ran out — tells you what the next twenty hours should contain. The analysis costs less than the hours it saves.

The third is funding exam technique while a coursework deadline is unmet. In the Diploma the coordinator's internal deadlines bind before the May session, and a missed internal deadline cannot be bought back at any rate. Paper practice funded ahead of an unfinished Internal Assessment is money spent in the wrong order. The fourth is running two children on separate in-home arrangements at two travel premiums when two consecutive video slots on one evening would do the same work for less and disrupt one evening rather than two.

05

What nobody should be charging you for

Several things are for sale in this market that cannot legitimately be supplied, and recognising them protects a four-year budget more effectively than haggling over an hourly rate.

Regulator approval is not for sale. Dubai private schools are overseen by KHDA; Abu Dhabi and Al Ain by ADEK; Sharjah by SPEA; Ras Al Khaimah by its Department of Knowledge; and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah by the federal Ministry of Education. None of those bodies approves or accredits a tutor or a tutoring platform. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific licence issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, requiring initial approval, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. IB Gram holds no such permit, no accreditation from any UAE authority and no partnership with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

The MoHRE private tuition work permit is not for sale either. It was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without one face fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so any specific figure quoted should be treated as unverified.

Nor should anybody be charging for a promise about a grade, for completed coursework, for board syllabus documents and mark schemes as downloads, or for handling Ministry of Education equivalency. The first is not deliverable, the second risks the qualification itself, the third belongs to the boards, and the fourth is a Ministry process that we describe and point you to rather than perform.

Two calendars, and what each one costs to get wrong

A household running an IGCSE candidate and a Diploma student is running two calendars at once, and a missed date is the most expensive thing on this page because it cannot be repurchased.

Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series, and UAE candidates sit those two. The February/March series is offered to India only, so any page quoting a March window to an Al Riqqa family is quoting the wrong country, and that is a date a parent would act on. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. The zone belongs to the centre, which is usually the school in Ajman or Sharjah.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those past dates show the pattern — a November series means January results — which has a cost attached if a sixth-form or university application depends on them. Pearson publishes provisional timetables and revises them, so work from the live official timetable.

For the IB, UAE schools sit the May session, and this page publishes no specific IB exam or results date. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, and a wrong date is one a family plans a year of spending around. Ask your child's IB coordinator, and build the budget around the school's internal coursework deadlines, which bind earliest.

Equivalency: free to understand, and worth understanding in Year 10

  • Five accredited IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3
  • Arabic and Islamic education sit outside that five-subject count
  • One A-Level at E, or two AS-Levels at E, on the British track
  • No IB points threshold is published here; verify it on moe.gov.ae

A student from Al Riqqa applying to a UAE institution meets the Ministry of Education's equivalency process, which converts a foreign school certificate into something UAE universities and employers can read. It costs nothing to understand and understanding it early prevents expensive subject-choice mistakes.

On the British track the published rules are specific: five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no less than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five. At least one ranking competitor page publishes a six-subject requirement, which is wrong, and a household budgeting for a sixth subject's tuition on that basis is spending money for no reason.

On the American track, English proficiency requires 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics requires at least 450 in SAT Math before applying. For the IB Diploma specifically, this page publishes no points threshold, because we have not read one on the Ministry's own site. An invented figure would be one a family plans two years of spending around. Ask the Ministry, the emirate attestation authority or your school's university counsellor.

Two cautions with direct cost implications. Equivalency is a Ministry process that IB Gram does not perform, expedite or guarantee, so nobody should be charging you for it. And tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, for university admission or for school progression. A provider implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency around a regulatory process in order to sell hours.

08

Coursework: the one purchase where price is irrelevant

  • Permitted: criterion explanation, feedback on the student's own draft, research-question triage, method teaching
  • Not permitted: drafting, completing or polishing assessed work to submission standard
  • Not permitted: distributing board syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes as files
  • The test: a list for the student, not a document for the parent

Every other decision on this page is a value judgement. This one is a risk judgement. One page examined for this project sells completed Internal Assessments outright at a published price, and that transaction can cost a student their qualification, which no refund addresses.

What a tutor may legitimately be paid for is teaching. Explaining what each assessment criterion rewards and in what proportion. Reading a draft the student has written and saying where it falls short of the descriptors. Triaging a research question that cannot be answered inside the word limit. Teaching the statistics a Biology investigation needs, or the testing documentation a Computer Science solution needs. All of that is feedback on the student's own work, and it is worth paying for.

What a tutor may not do is write, draft, complete, ghost-produce or edit to submission standard any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay, Personal Project or IGCSE coursework. IB Gram does not and declines the request when it arrives. A second line applies too: a tutor should not hand over board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads, because those belong to the boards. We cite and link to the official source.

The test is free to apply. A legitimate coursework session ends with your child holding a list of changes to make. If a cleaner document arrives in the inbox instead, you have bought something whose downside is the qualification, and that is the one line in a four-year budget where the number does not matter.

Where we tutor

Al Riqqa and the emirate, priced by drive

Your address changes what a visiting tutor must charge, because the drive is inside the rate. It changes nothing about an online rate. These notes make the difference explicit.

Al Riqqa

Nearest the Ajman border, so the shortest drive and the lowest in-home quote in Umm Al Quwain, plus the widest evening window. A 17:00 start is sometimes genuinely workable, which is early for this emirate.

Al Raas

The older quarter by the creek, a few minutes further out. Similar in-home economics and the same small local pool. A flat emirate-wide quote means Al Raas is subsidising somebody further away, or being subsidised.

Al Salamah

Inland, on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road route. A longer drive for the tutor and a later arrival for the student, which pushes both the quote and the session start later in the evening.

UAQ Marina

Coastal and newer, roughly fifteen minutes further from the Ajman and Sharjah roads. An in-home quote by distance will sit higher here than in Al Riqqa for identical teaching; an online quote will be identical.

Umm Al Quwain city centre

Where the emirate's own private schools sit, under federal Ministry of Education supervision. Locally schooled students get a shorter day and more usable hours per week, which stretches the same monthly spend further.

Falaj Al Mualla

Deep inland. The in-home travel premium peaks here and the willing pool shrinks to almost nothing, so any quote sits at the top of the AED 180 to 500 band for the same hour of teaching.

Ajman and Sharjah school corridor

Where the schools, the teachers and the exam centres are. A tutor driving in from Sharjah spends two to three hours of their day to deliver one, and that ratio is what the in-home band actually prices.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Riqqa

Umm Al Quwain, including Al Riqqa

Private schools here are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education rather than an emirate authority. For budgeting purposes the question to ask a school is which board it enters IGCSE candidates for and which Higher Level Diploma subjects it can actually staff, because both determine how much outside help a household will need to fund.

  • Umm Al Quwain English Private School
  • Al Ameer English School
  • The Westminster School Umm Al Quwain

Ajman and Sharjah, where the fees and the exam centres are

Sharjah private schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which approves tuition fees as well as curricula, programmes and assessment methods. Ajman sits under the federal Ministry of Education. School fee questions belong with those bodies rather than with any tutoring provider.

  • Ajman Academy
  • The Millennium School Sharjah
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • GEMS Millennium School Sharjah

Schools are named as context for the education ecosystem Al Riqqa families use. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them, and each name should be verified against the relevant regulator's own current listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the year, the code and the monthly shape

Which exam year the student is in, the IGCSE board code and tier or the IB subject and level, and whether you are thinking in hours a week or dirhams a month. A monthly figure lets us say honestly what it will and will not cover at published market rates instead of quoting an hourly number that needs twice the hours.

  2. 02

    Buy the diagnosis first

Send four marked past papers if you have them. Three or four sessions sorting lost marks by cause costs far less than twenty hours of general revision and determines what those hours should contain. Most households have never seen their child's losses broken down this way, and the breakdown is usually lopsided.

  3. 03

Exhaust the free options before the paid ones

School clinics, departmental past papers and a conversation with the coordinator about deadlines cost nothing, and a household that uses them first buys fewer paid hours. We would rather say that than sell hours you did not need, because the four-year relationship is worth more than the first invoice.

  4. 04

Take the free trial with no condition attached

One session, no minimum booking, no card required, at the hour you would genuinely use. From Al Riqqa with an Ajman school that is often around 17:00. Watch whether the tutor diagnoses or lectures in the first twenty minutes, because that is what the later hours are paying for.

  5. 05

Review the spend against marks every six weeks

Compare what has been paid against what has moved: school assessment marks, past-paper scores by question type, coursework feedback. If nothing has shifted on the things you targeted, change the plan or the tutor and say so early. A rematch in week two costs an hour; one in week ten costs a term.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Costed across four years, not one quote

IGCSE money works best late and Diploma money works best early, and a household funding both needs to know which. Sequencing advice is worth more than a rate comparison, and no competitor page examined for this project offers any.

The decisions priced, not just the hours

A wrong Cambridge tier caps a grade for two years. A board mismatch buys a term of the wrong mark scheme. A research question that cannot be answered costs weeks. Those are the large numbers in a tutoring budget, and they are all cheap to get right in advance.

The free options named first

School clinics, departmental past papers, the board's own published materials and a conversation with the coordinator cost nothing. We name them because a household that uses them buys fewer paid hours, and because a provider who never mentions them is selling hours rather than outcomes.

Every AED figure sourced and dated

The bands here are attributed to the provider or survey that published them, read in October 2026, and presented as the market rather than our price. Three of six competitor pages examined published no price at all and two quoted US dollars to families who pay in dirhams.

No approval claims and no invented statistics

IB Gram holds no approval from KHDA, ADEK or SPEA, no Ministry accreditation and no partnership with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and is not an examination centre. You will find no satisfaction percentage, pass rate or star rating here, because we cannot produce the data behind one.

A firm line on assessed work

We teach, review and give feedback on the student's own work. We do not draft, complete or produce an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework, and we decline the request. It is the only purchase in this market whose downside is the qualification itself.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Riqqa: your questions answered

What should an Al Riqqa household budget across IGCSE and the Diploma?+

Think in terms per exam year rather than a single figure. On published 2026 bands, a weekly hour with a qualified subject tutor is roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month during the terms where it matters, and specialist exam-year support AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more. The cheaper path funds Year 10 diagnosis, Year 11 technique and DP1 coursework, and needs far fewer hours than the path that starts in the DP2 spring at peak rates.

Which costs more to support, an IGCSE candidate or a Diploma student?+

The Diploma, usually, and for a structural reason. IGCSE is assessed by terminal papers, so the spending concentrates in the final year and converts to marks fast. The Diploma carries internal assessment in nearly every subject plus the Extended Essay and TOK, which means two budget lines rather than one: coursework coaching and exam technique. Funding them in that order matters, because a missed internal deadline cannot be recovered at any hourly rate.

Is a tutor near Al Riqqa cheaper than one further away?+

For an in-home arrangement, yes: Al Riqqa is the closest part of Umm Al Quwain to the Ajman border, so it is the shortest drive in the emirate and the lowest in-home quote. For an online arrangement the address is irrelevant and the rate is identical from anywhere. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India, so the travel line does not appear on the bill at all.

How do we avoid wasting money on the wrong tutor?+

Confirm the specification before the first session. For IGCSE that is the board code and tier from the statement of entry, 0580 Extended or 4MA1; for the IB it is the subject and level. A tutor who teaches the subject competently but not the specification delivers a term of the wrong mark scheme, which at AED 250 an hour is a four-figure mistake. It is also the most common one in the northern emirates, usually arriving through an availability-driven choice.

Is a group class a reasonable way to cut the bill?+

For content coverage, yes. A topic can be taught to four students as efficiently as to one, and the per-student cost drops accordingly. What a group cannot do is sit with your child's marked paper and work through the specific reasons marks were lost, which is where most recoverable marks sit in an exam year. Ask what the actual group size is, because two and six are sold under the same label and behave very differently.

What do the published monthly packages actually include?+

Market examples read in October 2026 are AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Both are eight contact hours, at roughly double the price for the in-home version because the drive is inside it. The question worth asking before committing is what happens to unused sessions, since a commuting household that misses two a month has quietly changed the effective hourly rate.

Should we spend anything in Year 10?+

A small amount, on a decision rather than on hours. For Cambridge subjects the Core or Extended tier is settled in Year 10, Core caps the grade at C and Extended reaches A*, and the decision stands for two years. Three or four sessions of Extended-standard questions under real timing, marked against the official scheme, produces evidence the school will take seriously. That is the highest return available anywhere in the four-year run.

Can we fund just one subject if the budget is tight?+

Yes, and the choice should follow weighting rather than difficulty. For the Diploma, fund the Higher Level subject with the heaviest unstarted internal assessment and the weakest current marks, because HL and SL points are worth the same and a coursework deadline missed cannot be recovered. For IGCSE, fund the subject where marked past papers show the largest cluster of technique losses, since those convert to marks fastest.

Does the rate go up before exams?+

In this market it often does, because specialist demand peaks before the May session and the June series, and the late evening slots a commuting Al Riqqa household needs are the first to fill. That is one more reason the early years are the cheap window. Ask any provider directly whether their rate moves with the calendar, because a September figure that rises in February is a different proposition and the difference is rarely volunteered.

What free help are we probably not using?+

School clinics, departmental revision sessions, past papers the department holds, the board's own published materials, and a direct conversation with the IB coordinator or exams officer about deadlines and the Cambridge zone. All of it is free, and a household that exhausts it first needs fewer paid hours. A provider who never mentions the school as a first resort is selling you hours rather than outcomes.

Is there any charge for being matched with a tutor?+

Not with us. The match is not charged, the trial lesson is free with no minimum booking and no card required, and session notes come with every session. We publish no price list on these pages because an honest figure depends on subject, level and availability, and a number invented for a web page is worse than a conversation. Ask any other provider the same questions: matching fees, report fees and notice periods are the usual hidden lines.

How much does the tutor's permit cost, and should it affect the rate?+

It costs nothing. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. So a tutor cannot reasonably attribute a higher rate to licensing costs. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published.

Can a provider sell us regulator approval?+

No, and an offer of it should end the conversation. KHDA oversees private education quality in Dubai, ADEK handles licensing and accreditation in Abu Dhabi, SPEA regulates Sharjah, the RAK Department of Knowledge regulates Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education supervises Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. None approves tutors. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific licence for training institutes with premises, which IB Gram does not hold.

Which exam sessions apply, and what does a wrong date cost?+

Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit the June and November series; the February/March series is India-only, so a page quoting a March window here is quoting another country's calendar. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. IB schools sit the May session. Cambridge allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones and states it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who used the wrong zone's timetable, which is the most expensive error available.

Two children, two systems. What is the efficient arrangement?+

Two consecutive video slots on one evening, each with the right specialist for that child's board and level. One evening is occupied rather than two, nobody travels so there is no second travel premium, and each child gets separate session notes so an IGCSE plan and a Diploma plan do not blur. In a commuting Al Riqqa household this is the single most efficient structure we set up, and it is also the easiest to review every six weeks.

Spend in the right year, on the right specification

The hourly rate is the smallest variable in an Al Riqqa household's four-year tutoring budget. The large ones are whether the money goes into the Year 10 tier decision and DP1 coursework rather than the DP2 spring, and whether the tutor teaches your child's actual specification rather than the subject in general. Tell us the exam year, the IGCSE code and tier or the IB subject and level, and whether you are thinking in hours or dirhams a month. Use the school's free help first, then take the free trial lesson.
