IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Raas

Typing IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Raas asks Google a distance question. Draw the circle yourself and the problem becomes obvious: twenty kilometres from Al Raas covers Umm Al Quwain city, a slice of Ajman and some empty road. IB Gram answers with a different filter — the specification your child is entered for — and teaches over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Matched by board and level: Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or IB
  • One-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, recorded for revision
  • Umm Al Quwain private schools sit under the federal Ministry of Education

IB & IGCSE in Al Raas

Draw the circle and the "near me" problem answers itself

Search engines treat "near me" as an instruction about distance, and they are right to. It is the correct way to find a dentist, a garage or a pharmacy. It works badly for a Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620 teacher or an IB Economics HL specialist, and the reason is visible the moment you stop searching and start measuring.

Put a twenty-kilometre circle around Al Raas. It takes in Umm Al Quwain city, the creek, Al Riqqa, Al Salamah, part of the Ajman urban edge and a good deal of road. Push it to forty kilometres and you reach most of Ajman and the northern edge of Sharjah. Now count, inside the smaller circle, how many people have taken a cohort through Cambridge 0580 Extended, tutor privately, and are free on a weekday evening. The honest answer is a handful. For IB Diploma subjects outside Maths and the sciences it is frequently none, because Umm Al Quwain is the least populous emirate and a small school cohort does not generate specialist teachers.

That is not a reason to give up. It is a reason to change the filter. The variable that decides whether a tutor can lift a grade is specification knowledge: which board, which code, which tier or level, and which paper candidates reliably lose marks on. A person who has taught Pearson 4PH1 for five cohorts will answer that in one sentence. A person who has not will talk about their degree. Neither answer depends on how far they live from the creek.

So we invert the usual order. Match on board and level first, deliver over live video second, and treat geography as a scheduling detail rather than a quality signal. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. The market does supply in-home visits across the UAE at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour on published 2026 figures, with the drive folded into the rate, and this page gives you the numbers so the comparison is yours to make rather than ours to assert.

Because this page covers both systems, it has to be useful to two different families: one with a Year 10 or Year 11 IGCSE candidate, and one with a Diploma student. What follows handles both, and it is organised so that a parent reading only the half that applies to them still gets a complete answer rather than a fragment. There is a radius table showing what each distance band around Al Raas actually contains, a sourced rate table, a combined exam calendar for Cambridge, Pearson and the IB, the regulator map across the school commute, the academic-honesty line on coursework in both systems, and the Ministry of Education equivalency rules for each route.

At a glance

  • Twenty kilometres from Al Raas covers Umm Al Quwain city and part of Ajman, little else
  • Cambridge tiers most IGCSE subjects into Core, capped at C, and Extended, reaching A*
  • UAE Cambridge candidates sit the June and November series; February/March is India-only
  • UAE IB schools sit the May session; coordinator deadlines bind earlier than the papers
  • Umm Al Quwain private schools answer to the federal Ministry of Education
  • The Ministry counts five IGCSE passes at no less than E or grade 3, Arabic and Islamic education excluded
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An Al Raas search covering both IB and IGCSE usually comes from one of three households. Each needs something different, and the distance question is irrelevant to all three.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Cambridge splits most subjects into Core, capped at grade C, and Extended, reaching A*. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is untiered in most subjects and awards 9 to 1. The codes carry real differences: 0580 and 4MA1 have different paper structures, calculator rules and conventions, and in the sciences the practical assessment differs between boards.

An Al Raas student's exam centre is usually their school in Ajman or Sharjah. That matters because Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own timetable version, and states plainly that it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who used the wrong one. The zone is a property of the centre, not of your home address.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each out of eight, converted to a 1-7 grade through subject-specific boundaries. Nothing external arrives before the optional eAssessment, so a student can go years without a benchmarked mark. The criteria are named and the marks are awarded against them, which is rarely taught explicitly.

The MYP to Diploma step frequently coincides with a change of school in this emirate, because few local schools offer both ends of the programme. An Al Raas student may change school, city and teaching style in one September. The spring term before DP1 is the cheapest moment to absorb that, and almost nobody uses it.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Grades run 1-7 with up to three bonus points from the TOK and EE matrix. Higher Level carries 240 teaching hours against 150 at Standard Level, and in most sciences the HL extension sits on its own paper.

UAE schools sit the May session. For a student commuting out of Umm Al Quwain the binding dates are the coordinator's internal coursework deadlines, which fall through DP1 and into DP2. Those deadlines, not the exam window, are what a tutoring plan has to be built around, and they arrive earlier than most families expect.

UAE-MANDATORYAll year groups in private schools

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies

Federal rules require private schools to teach Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies regardless of the international curriculum they are licensed to deliver. These run alongside IGCSE or IB rather than replacing anything, and they carry their own assessment. For the mandatory subjects, different or additional content may not be used without prior Ministry permission.

Families who arrived in the UAE from a system without these subjects commonly discover the gap in Year 8 or Year 9. Tutoring here means supporting the school's own prescribed material rather than introducing anything new, and in a small emirate the school's own teacher is often the best route if they are permitted to help.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subjects an Al Raas search covering both systems tends to need, with the codes and levels that matter and where the marks actually go.

Mathematics (IGCSE)

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1

Extended reaches A*, Core stops at C, so the tier is the Year 10 decision that fixes the ceiling. Marks go on transformations, bounds and the last part of multi-step problems where method marks were available for working never written down.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (IB)

HL and SL

The proof-and-algebra route, with HL adding complex numbers, vectors and induction. Paper 3 is a two-problem investigation worth 20% of the HL grade and the single biggest source of lost marks, because students rarely practise unfamiliar sustained mathematics without a scaffold.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (IB)

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics with a calculator throughout. HL carries graph theory, Voronoi diagrams and matrices. The habitual loss is interpretation: a correct regression with no sentence explaining what it means collects only the calculation marks.

Physics

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

At IGCSE, electricity and the practical paper are the predictable losses. At IB level, Paper 2 extended response punishes thin explanation: a numerically right answer with no reasoning chain loses the explanation marks every time.

Chemistry

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles and organic naming carry the IGCSE marks; energetics and equilibrium carry the IB ones. Cambridge 0620 Paper 6 rewards apparatus precision no textbook summary supplies, and the IB internal assessment rewards genuine uncertainty analysis.

Biology

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Marked as precision, not recall, in both systems. Command terms decide the mark: describe, explain, suggest, compare and evaluate each demand a different answer shape. Genetics and homeostasis are where timed performance collapses.

English

IB English A HL and SL · Cambridge 0500 and 0990 · Pearson 4EA1

At IGCSE, directed writing is marked on audience and form as much as content. At IB level the Individual Oral links a global issue to one literary and one non-literary extract, and weak IOs are almost always weak on the global issue rather than the texts.

Economics

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0455

Diagrams carry marks at both levels and most candidates draw them carelessly. The IB IA is three 800-word commentaries on articles the student finds, and marks go on choosing an article with no usable diagram or on summarising instead of analysing.

Business

IB Business Management HL and SL · Cambridge 0450

The case study decides the grade in both systems. Candidates who revise definitions and ignore the stimulus write generic answers and score badly on high-tariff questions. Application to the named business is the assessed skill and responds quickly to teaching.

Computer Science

IB HL and SL · Cambridge 0478

A subject small northern cohorts regularly cannot staff twice. At IGCSE, pseudocode and trace tables are mechanical marks thrown away for want of practice. At IB level the internal assessment needs a real client and documented testing, not a working program alone.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Al Raas families use IB Gram across both systems, all one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

Weekly one-to-one, term-long

One or two sessions a week across a term, following the school's own scheme of work rather than a generic syllabus order. This is the format that moves a grade, because the work compounds. The tutor asks for the school's assessment calendar in the first session and plans against it rather than against the exam window.

  • Specification-specific from the first session, code and level named
  • Session notes recording what was covered and what was set
  • Best started at the beginning of a term, not six weeks before a paper

Diagnostic block

Three or four sessions to answer a specific question with evidence: is this student an Extended candidate, is Maths AA or AI the right route, why do the marks not match the understanding. The output is a written summary you can take to the school, not an opinion delivered on a call.

  • Timed past-paper questions marked against the official scheme
  • Lost marks sorted by cause rather than by topic
  • A written conclusion you can act on or show the school

Coursework and internal assessment coaching

Process support on the student's own work across both systems: IGCSE coursework components where they exist, and IB Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and TOK essays. A tutor may teach, review and give feedback. A tutor may not write, complete or produce any of it, and we decline that request.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Research-question triage before weeks are invested in an unworkable one
  • The boundary stated to the student in the first session

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Raas

01

The radius arithmetic, done properly

A "near me" search is a bet that the thing you want exists nearby. For some services that bet is safe because supply follows population density closely. Tutoring in a specific examination specification does not: it follows the number of students sitting that specification, which is a much smaller and more unevenly distributed number.

Here is the calculation for Al Raas. Umm Al Quwain is the least populous emirate. Its private international school set is small, and within it the number of students taking any single Diploma subject at Higher Level is a double-digit figure at best. Specialist teachers exist roughly in proportion to that. Subtract those who do not tutor privately, those already booked, and those unavailable at the hour your child is free after an Ajman or Sharjah school run, and the remaining list in a twenty-kilometre radius is often empty for anything beyond Maths and the sciences.

Extending the radius helps unevenly. The first real gain comes at the Ajman urban edge, where school density rises sharply. The second comes at the northern edge of Sharjah, around forty kilometres out. But a tutor at forty kilometres who travels is charging you for eighty kilometres of driving inside their hourly rate, and arriving at a time neither of you can predict. The pool you reach by widening the circle is the pool whose rate you have just inflated.

The filter that does not degrade with distance is the specification. There is no version of this problem in which a Cambridge 0625 specialist two emirates away teaches your child worse than a generalist down the road, provided the lesson is delivered properly. That is the whole argument, and the table below is the evidence for it in the only terms that matter: what each band contains.

IB or IGCSE: working out which help your child needs now

A page covering both systems has to answer a question families in mixed situations actually ask: my child is in an IB school but did IGCSEs, or is leaving IGCSEs for the Diploma, or is in an MYP school and I do not know what is assessed. The two systems reward different things, and the tutoring differs accordingly.

IGCSE is a content-and-technique qualification assessed almost entirely by terminal written papers. The marks are granular, the schemes are specific, and the fastest gains come from mark-scheme technique: showing working, answering the command term, giving units, labelling diagrams. A tutor can move an IGCSE grade meaningfully in a term because the assessment is predictable and the losses are diagnosable from past papers.

The Diploma is a different animal. Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, a 4,000-word Extended Essay and CAS, with internal assessments in nearly every subject and up to three bonus points from the TOK and EE combination. The binding constraints are coursework deadlines set by the school's coordinator rather than the exam window, and the highest-value tutoring is often not subject teaching at all but helping a student get a workable research question and a realistic plan. The transition between them, IGCSE into DP1, is its own problem: the step up in independent workload is larger than the step up in content difficulty.

The practical consequence for an Al Raas household is about sequencing rather than about choosing. An IGCSE candidate should spend their hours on paper technique in the final year and on algebraic fluency before that. A Diploma student should spend them on coursework in DP1 and on paper technique in DP2. Families who get that order wrong spend more hours for less effect, which is the most common avoidable waste in this market.

What the market charges, and the three ways families here waste money

Of the competitor pages examined for this project in October 2026, three published no price and two quoted in US dollars. The bands below come from providers' own published pages and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table, and they describe the market rather than IB Gram's charges.

The first waste is paying the in-home premium for a generalist. The in-home band runs AED 180 to 500 an hour and overlaps the specialist band at AED 200 to 450 and above, so a family can pay specialist money and receive a tutor chosen for willingness to drive to Umm Al Quwain. The second is buying hours before buying a diagnosis: six sessions of general revision with no analysis of where marks are actually lost will cost AED 1,200 or more and change little. The third is starting too late, which converts a cheap problem into an expensive one.

Working up from the cheapest band: budget online tutoring runs AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik publishing AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. A qualified subject tutor online sits at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Specialists reach AED 200 to 450 and more, with TutorChase at AED 270. Premium named tutors run AED 500 to 650 or above, with BartyED publishing AED 650. Monthly, Bestimate estimates AED 240 to 600 for budget weekly support, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work.

Before accepting any quote, ask five things: per hour or per session, VAT included or not, the cancellation terms inside 24 hours, whether the rate rises before a series, and what happens if the tutor turns out to teach a different board. The last is the question nobody asks and the one that costs the most.

Three calendars in one place: Cambridge, Pearson and the IB

A household with an IGCSE candidate and a Diploma student is running two calendars, and nobody in this market publishes either. Getting them side by side is worth more than most of the advice on a tutoring page.

Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series, and UAE candidates sit those two. The February/March series is offered to India only, so any page quoting a March window to an Al Raas family has the wrong country. Cambridge allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones, states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. The zone belongs to the centre, which is usually the school in Ajman or Sharjah.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those past dates establish the pattern that a November series means January results. Pearson publishes provisional timetables and revises them, so take exact dates from the live official timetable.

For the IB, UAE schools sit the May session, and this page publishes no specific IB exam or results date. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, and a date a family plans a year around has to be right. Ask your child's IB coordinator, and build the plan around the school's internal coursework deadlines, which bind earlier than anything the IB sets.

The regulator map, from your address to the school gate

An Al Raas family frequently lives under one regulator and sends a child to school under another, which catches people out at the point where a question actually needs answering. Umm Al Quwain private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education, as are those in Ajman and Fujairah. Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, activities and assessment methods. Ras Al Khaimah has its Department of Knowledge on the same model. Dubai has KHDA and Abu Dhabi has ADEK. Five bodies, complete map.

None of them licenses individual tutors. Private tutoring sits with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and the permit is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published, so this page quotes none. MoHRE's own service page for the permit lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time.

Two things follow. No provider can honestly describe itself as approved by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or the Ministry of Education. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific licence for training institutes with premises in Dubai, and IB Gram holds no such permit, no accreditation from any UAE authority and no partnership with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. Second, if your child's own teacher offers private lessons, check the rules first: ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct that bars the same thing.

For scale, Dubai's private sector recorded 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the International Baccalaureate the licensed curriculum for a small share of them. Umm Al Quwain's numbers are a small fraction of that, and that difference is the whole reason this page exists.

06

Coursework honesty, in both systems

  • Permitted: criterion explanation, feedback on the student's own draft, research-question triage, method teaching
  • Not permitted: drafting, completing or polishing assessed work to submission standard
  • Not permitted: distributing board syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes as files
  • The test: a list for the student, not a document for the parent

This boundary carries more risk for your child than anything else on this page, and the market handles it badly. One page examined for this project sells completed Internal Assessments outright at a published price. The student is the one whose qualification is at stake if submitted work is not their own.

A tutor may teach. In the IB that means explaining what each assessment criterion rewards and in what proportion, reading a draft your child has written and saying where it falls short of the descriptors, triaging a research question that cannot be answered inside the word limit, and teaching the statistics or method the task needs. In IGCSE subjects with a coursework or practical component it means the same: teaching the skill, giving feedback on the student's own attempt, and explaining what the school's assessment criteria actually reward.

A tutor may not write, draft, complete, ghost-produce or edit to submission standard any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay, Personal Project or IGCSE coursework. IB Gram does not, and declines the request when it arrives. A quieter second line: a tutor should not hand over board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads, because those belong to the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. We cite and link to the official source instead.

The parent's test works in both systems. A legitimate session ends with your child holding a list of things to change. If a cleaner document arrives in the inbox instead, you have bought something that can cost a qualification, and no amount of convenience justifies that.

07

Equivalency for both routes, understood early

A student from Al Raas applying to a UAE institution meets the Ministry of Education's equivalency process, which converts a foreign school certificate into something UAE universities and employers can read. It is worth understanding in Year 10, because it constrains subject choices while they remain changeable, and it differs by route.

On the British track the published rules are specific: five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no less than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five. That detail is routinely got wrong, and at least one ranking competitor page publishes a six-subject requirement, which is incorrect.

On the American track, English proficiency requires 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics requires at least 450 in SAT Math before applying. For the IB Diploma specifically, this page publishes no points threshold. We have not read one on the Ministry's own site, and inventing one is exactly the figure a family would plan a year around. Ask the Ministry or the emirate attestation authority directly, or your school's university counsellor.

Two cautions worth stating plainly. Equivalency is a Ministry process: IB Gram does not perform it, expedite it or guarantee an outcome, and we point you to the official channel. And tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, for university admission or for school progression. A provider implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency around a regulatory process, which is a reason to leave rather than to buy.

What we say when nobody suitable is free

Every provider in this market writes as though a tutor is always available. None of them is, and concealing a coverage gap is how a family ends up with a mismatched tutor two weeks before a paper. In the least populous emirate, with an evening window compressed by a cross-emirate school run, the gap is more likely here than almost anywhere in the UAE.

So we disclose it. If a specialist in your child's board, code and level is not free in the hours an Al Raas school run leaves, we say so and offer the alternatives: a different evening, a specialist based elsewhere working to Gulf Standard Time, or a wait. For an option subject like IB Computer Science HL, a wait is sometimes the right answer, and we would rather tell you than fill the slot with somebody who will teach the wrong board competently.

The matching conversation is short and specific. We ask for the board and code or the IB subject and level, the school and its assessment calendar, the two or three things the student keeps losing marks on, and the hours that genuinely work after the commute. A free trial lesson follows so you can judge the match. If it is wrong, say so: a rematch in week one costs an hour, one in week six costs a term.

One note on fallback delivery, because some providers hide it. If the specialist who fits your child is not based in the UAE, the lesson still runs over live video on your timetable, and we tell you where they are before the first session rather than after it. Two ranking competitors route UAE parents to non-UAE phone numbers without saying so, and one shows a Dubai address on an Abu Dhabi page. That is the standard we are trying to beat.

What each distance band around Al Raas actually contains

The "near me" question deserves a literal answer. These are the places a search radius from Al Raas reaches, and what each adds to the realistic tutor pool.

Al Raas itself

The older quarter of Umm Al Quwain city by the creek. Residential, with almost all internationally schooled students commuting out. Within walking distance the specialist pool for any named IGCSE code or IB level is effectively zero, which is true of most neighbourhoods anywhere.

Al Riqqa

Within a few kilometres, nearest the Ajman border. Adds the widest evening window in the emirate and no additional subject specialists, because the constraint is the emirate's size rather than the position inside it.

Al Salamah

Inland, a short drive, on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road route south. Adds residential area and the same shortage. The road leg here is the one most exposed to afternoon delay on the way home.

UAQ Marina

Coastal and a little further out, roughly fifteen minutes more driving from the Ajman and Sharjah roads. Adds newer housing, a slightly later realistic session start, and the same tutor supply.

Ajman urban edge

Reached at the outer end of a twenty-kilometre circle. This is where the pool genuinely begins to grow, because Ajman has far more schools and therefore more teachers. It is also where the drive starts costing an in-home tutor real time.

Sharjah northern edge

Around forty kilometres out. A substantial pool, and the usual source of in-home tutors prepared to travel north. The round trip at the wrong time of day is the reason the rate carries a travel premium.

Falaj Al Mualla

Inland and well away from all of the above. A radius search from here reaches almost nothing, which makes it the clearest illustration on this page of why distance is the wrong filter.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Raas

Umm Al Quwain, including Al Raas

Supervised by the federal Ministry of Education rather than an emirate authority, so there is no local inspection portal of the kind Dubai parents use. Ask a school directly which board it enters candidates for and whether it runs the full Diploma, because both answers shape what tutoring is needed.

  • Emirates National Schools Umm Al Quwain
  • Umm Al Quwain English Private School
  • Al Ameer English School
  • The Westminster School Umm Al Quwain

Ajman, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, where the commute goes

Sharjah schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes and assessment methods. Ajman sits under the federal Ministry of Education and Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge. One Al Raas household can therefore straddle two or three regulators.

  • Ajman Academy
  • The Millennium School Sharjah
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • RAK Academy
  • GEMS Millennium School Sharjah

Schools are named as context for the education ecosystem Al Raas families actually use. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them, and each name should be verified against the relevant regulator's own current listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say which system and which code

For IGCSE, the board code and tier from the statement of entry: 0580 Extended, 4MA1, 0625, 4PH1. For the IB, the subject and level: Chemistry HL, Maths AI SL. That single line removes most of the mismatch risk before anyone has spent an hour, and any tutor worth hiring asks for it unprompted.

  2. 02

    Send the school's assessment calendar

Coursework deadlines, mock windows and report dates are set by the school and bind earlier than any exam window. A tutor working without them is planning against the wrong clock. For a Diploma student the coordinator's internal deadlines are the ones that cannot move.

  3. 03

Take the free trial in the real slot

One session, no commitment, at the hour you would genuinely use rather than a convenient weekend one. From Al Raas with an Ajman school that is often around 17:00. Watch whether the tutor diagnoses or lectures: a specialist spends the first twenty minutes finding out what the student can already do.

  4. 04

Hold one slot per subject for the term

Pick the hour you can keep every week and keep it, rather than rebooking around each week's disruption. In a commuting household a fixed evening anchor is worth more than an extra session a month, because consistency does the work that intensity cannot.

  5. 05

Review against marked evidence every six weeks

Compare the plan against school assessments, past-paper scores sorted by question type, and coursework feedback. If nothing has shifted on what you targeted, change the plan or the tutor and say so early. A rematch in week two costs an hour; one in week ten costs a term.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The distance question answered with numbers

Rather than claiming local coverage, this page shows what each radius band around Al Raas actually contains. Under five kilometres there is effectively nobody for a named code or level; the pool only grows at the Ajman edge, and growing it by driving puts the drive inside your hourly rate.

One page that serves both systems honestly

IGCSE rewards mark-scheme technique on terminal papers. The Diploma rewards getting coursework right first. Families who spend their hours in the wrong order spend more for less, and that sequencing advice is worth more than any claim about tutor quality.

Figures that carry a source and a date

Every AED band here is attributed to the provider or survey that published it, read in October 2026, and presented as the market rather than our price. Three of six competitor pages examined published no price at all, and two quoted US dollars to families who pay in dirhams.

Exam sessions that are correct for the UAE

UAE Cambridge candidates sit the June and November series; the February/March series is India-only. We also tell you that the timetable zone belongs to the exam centre, because Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who used the wrong zone's version.

No approval claims, no invented statistics

IB Gram holds no approval from KHDA, ADEK or SPEA, no Ministry accreditation and no partnership with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and is not an examination centre. You will find no satisfaction percentage or star rating here, because we cannot produce the data behind one.

Coverage disclosed before you commit

If no specialist in your child's code and level is free in the window the school run leaves, we say so and name the options, including waiting. No competitor page examined for this project discloses a coverage limit anywhere, and a concealed gap costs a term rather than a conversation.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Raas: your questions answered

Is there an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Raas, honestly?+

Within five kilometres, for a named board code or IB level, effectively not. Within twenty kilometres you reach Umm Al Quwain city and the Ajman edge and find a handful, mostly in Maths and the sciences. Beyond that the pool grows but the drive goes inside the hourly rate. The filter that works at any distance is the specification: who has taught Cambridge 0620 or IB Chemistry HL. We match on that and teach over live video.

How far would a tutor realistically travel to Umm Al Quwain?+

In practice, from the Ajman edge or northern Sharjah, which is twenty to forty kilometres. That round trip costs the tutor an hour or more at the wrong time of day, and it sits inside the AED 180 to 500 hourly band published for in-home visits in 2026. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. The market does supply them, and now you know what the drive is costing you.

My child does IGCSE and my older one does the IB. Can you handle both?+

Yes, with a different specialist for each, because the systems reward different things. IGCSE is won on mark-scheme technique against terminal papers; the Diploma is won by getting coursework right early and then working paper technique in DP2. We often run two consecutive video slots on one evening in commuting households, which occupies a single evening rather than disrupting two, with separate session notes so the plans stay distinct.

Which is the better use of money, IGCSE technique work or Diploma coursework help?+

Whichever matches where the student is. For a Year 11 IGCSE candidate, paper technique is the highest-yield spend: showing working, answering command terms, units, significant figures and labelled diagrams are fast to install and reliably worth marks. For a DP1 student, the highest-yield spend is a workable research question and a realistic coursework plan, because those deadlines bind earliest and a bad research question costs weeks. Spending in the wrong order is the most common avoidable waste here.

What do tutors charge in this part of the northern emirates?+

Published UAE market rates read in October 2026 put a qualified subject tutor online at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, budget online tutoring from around AED 45, board specialists at AED 200 to 450 or more, and in-home visits at AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the figure. Monthly, Bestimate estimates AED 600 to 1,200 for a weekly hour with a qualified tutor. Umm Al Quwain is not separately surveyed, so treat the national bands as a guide rather than a quote.

Which exam sessions apply to a UAE candidate?+

Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit the June series and the November series; the February/March series is offered to India only, so ignore any page quoting a March window here. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November. IB schools in the UAE sit the May session. Cambridge also allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version, and the zone belongs to the centre rather than to your home address.

Why does the Cambridge zone matter if we live in Al Raas?+

Because the zone follows the exam centre, which for most Al Raas students is their school in Ajman or Sharjah rather than anything in Umm Al Quwain. Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. So the right question for the exams officer is which zone the centre sits in, not which timetable you found online.

Does living in a small emirate actually disadvantage my child academically?+

It disadvantages access to local specialists, not ability. A small cohort cannot staff the full range of Diploma subjects or guarantee a second specialist in any one of them, so a student here is more likely to need outside help than a student in Dubai with three hundred classmates. That is a supply problem with a straightforward answer: match on the specification and deliver over video. It is not a statement about what the student can achieve.

Who regulates the school if we live in Al Raas but study in Sharjah?+

The Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in that emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, activities and assessment methods. Umm Al Quwain, where you live, is supervised by the federal Ministry of Education, as Ajman is. Fee and curriculum questions therefore go to SPEA rather than to the Ministry covering your address. Families who assume one national system find this out at the point where an answer is needed quickly.

Do UAE tutors have to hold a government permit?+

Yes. Private tutoring is regulated through a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Anyone tutoring without one is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so be sceptical of any specific figure quoted at you.

Can a tutor work on my child's Internal Assessment with them?+

On their own work, yes. A tutor can explain what each criterion rewards, read a draft the student wrote and say where it falls short of the descriptors, triage a research question that will not fit the word limit, and teach the method or statistics required. A tutor cannot draft it, complete it or polish it to submission standard, and IB Gram declines that request. A legitimate session ends with your child holding a list of changes rather than a better document.

How many subjects does the Ministry count towards equivalency?+

Five, on the British track: five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus either one A-Level at E or two AS-Levels at E. At least one ranking competitor page states six, which is wrong. For the IB Diploma no points figure is published on this page because we have not read one on the Ministry's own site. Verify with the Ministry directly.

What if we need a subject nobody in the UAE covers at our hour?+

We tell you before you commit, and name the options: a different evening, a specialist based outside the UAE working to Gulf Standard Time, or a wait. For an option like IB Computer Science HL the wait is sometimes the right answer. What we will not do is substitute a generalist and let you discover the mismatch in week three. If a tutor is based outside the UAE we say so before the first session rather than after it.

How do we test whether a tutor really knows the course?+

One question does most of the work: which paper do candidates reliably lose marks on in this specification, and why. A person who has taught Cambridge 0580 Extended or IB Physics HL answers in a sentence, naming a paper and a failure mode. A person who has not redirects to their degree or their years of experience. Follow it with how many cohorts they have taken through it. Both questions are free and they sort the field faster than any map.

Does a Ramadan or summer break mean cancelling the whole arrangement?+

It should not. During Ramadan the productive window moves to after Iftar and a video session at 21:00 costs nobody a journey, so sessions shift rather than stop. Over a long summer break a fortnightly rhythm with a past paper in between holds far more ground than it costs, and it follows a family abroad because all that is needed is a connection and an agreed hour. Decide the arrangement in advance rather than cancelling week by week.

Stop measuring distance, start reading the code

The search that brought you here is a distance search, and the arithmetic above is the honest answer to it: a circle around Al Raas does not contain the person your child needs, and widening it only moves the cost into a drive. The filter that works is the specification. Send us the IGCSE board code and tier, or the IB subject and level, plus your school's assessment calendar and the hour your child is genuinely at a desk after the commute. We will tell you whether a specialist is free in that window, and you can take the free trial lesson first.
