IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Suyoh

Search "IB IGCSE tutor near me" from Al Suyoh and the results are ranked by kilometres, which is the one variable that does not affect a grade. The useful question is how many people within reach of this inland Sharjah district have actually taught your child's paper, and for HL sciences or an Extended-tier entry the honest count is low. IB Gram matches on syllabus and level instead, with lessons delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time and a free first lesson.

  • Matched on board, subject and level rather than on distance
  • Coverage limits are stated at the enquiry, not discovered later
  • Lessons run one-to-one over live video, never in a UAE home
  • Tutors review and mark the student's own work; they supply no text

IB & IGCSE in Al Suyoh

The question behind the search box

Nobody typing IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Suyoh actually wants the nearest person. They want somebody who has taught the paper their child is entered for, and they are using distance as a stand-in for competence because distance is the only thing the search box understands. The substitution is reasonable and it fails here more than in most places, because Al Suyoh is a plotted inland residential district rather than a school quarter, and its local pool of IB and IGCSE specialists is correspondingly thin.

It is worth being concrete about what thin means. Mathematics at Year 9 level has genuine local supply, including undergraduates from University City a short drive away. Cambridge 0580 Extended Paper 4 has less. Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level has very little. Chemistry HL with an Internal Assessment in progress has almost none within a comfortable drive of Al Suyoh on a weekday evening. The pool does not shrink gradually as the level rises; it falls off a cliff at the point where the work stops being general and starts being specific.

This page does three things with that. It counts the pool honestly by subject and level, so you can see where a local search will work and where it cannot. It gives you a better search than near me, including the terms that actually surface specialists. And it sets out the checks worth running on anybody you find, whether through this page or a community group, because a tutor's permit position and their familiarity with the criteria are both verifiable in minutes and neither appears in a directory listing.

IB Gram's own position should be plain before any of that. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, scheduled around the Sharjah school day. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-home visiting is offered only in India. The URL you arrived on uses the phrase parents search, and the answer it gives is that the match is made on the syllabus rather than the map, which for this district is the only way a specialist becomes reachable at all.

One more thing belongs in an honest version of this page. There are enquiries that cannot be filled, and they are named rather than absorbed. If no specialist covers your child's subject at the level needed, or none is free in the evening window your school run leaves, you are told at the enquiry stage. The competitor research behind this page found no site in this market that discloses a coverage limit anywhere, which is precisely why a disclosed limit is worth considerably more to a parent than an undisclosed promise.

At a glance

  • Local supply is real at lower secondary level and thin at HL and Extended tier
  • Al Suyoh children travel to schools in three directions, so there is no single catchment
  • British-track equivalency needs five IGCSE passes at no less than grade E or grade 3
  • Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit June and November; February/March is offered in India only
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free, valid two years, and verifiable
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An Al Suyoh household often has both boards running at once, one child on IGCSE and another on the Diploma. These are the three stages that generate the enquiries, and the supply position differs sharply between them.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Terminal written papers across eight or nine subjects. Cambridge tiers many subjects into Core and Extended with different grade ceilings; Pearson uses its own codes, 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 and so on, with a different paper structure. The code decides which tutor is the right one, and it is printed on your child's exam entry.

Local supply for IGCSE in this part of Sharjah is best at Core tier and in the humanities, and weakest in Extended-tier maths and the sciences, which is also where most of the grade movement is available. That inversion is the practical reason a distance-based search disappoints Al Suyoh families most at exactly the point they need help.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

Marked against four criteria, A to D, on eight-point scales within each subject group. The criteria, not percentages, are the brief for a tutor, and a report reading 5-6-3-5 identifies the problem precisely. MYP 5 students moving towards the Diploma frequently need written structure built before content is added.

The nearest IB continuum provision to Al Suyoh is Victoria International School of Sharjah in Al Hoshi, which is a long enough run that MYP families here usually end up booking evening sessions rather than afternoon ones. Local MYP-literate tutors are scarce in Sharjah because the programme's share of the emirate's schools is small.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1-DP2

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across HL and SL plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal Assessment lands while teaching continues, which is why DP1 is the term that decides a Diploma and DP2 is the term that reveals it. UAE schools sit the May session.

This is where local supply effectively runs out for an Al Suyoh family. A Diploma student needs a tutor who knows one subject at one level extremely well, and the number of such people within a short drive of a plotted suburb in southern Sharjah is not a number worth planning around. Matching without the distance constraint is what makes the specialist reachable.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The list below pairs each subject with the realistic local supply position around Al Suyoh, because that is the information a near me search withholds.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, complex numbers and a deep calculus option at HL, with method marks tied to written justification. Local supply around Al Suyoh is minimal at HL. This is the clearest single case in the Diploma where a distance-free match changes what is available to a student.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-active work where the graphical calculator must be used, cited and interpreted. Slightly better local supply than AA, because more Sharjah schools teach it, but still thin at HL during exploration season.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms, energetics and the data-based paper decide grades. The Internal Assessment is the time-critical part and needs a research question narrow enough to control one variable. Specialist supply within a drive of Al Suyoh is effectively nil.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics and fields reward drawing before calculating, and Paper 2 extended responses pay for stated assumptions. Uncertainty treatment in the practical work leaks marks reliably and is quick to fix once somebody who marks it is looking.

Biology

HL and SL

Command terms separate grades more than content does: outline, explain, distinguish and evaluate each demand a different answer shape. Of the HL sciences this is the one with the best chance of a usable local tutor, because the content is broadly taught.

Mathematics (IGCSE)

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended, Pearson 4MA1

Transformations, bounds and non-calculator arithmetic are where Extended marks leave. A tier decision made wrongly in Year 10 caps the result before anything is sat, and reviewing it needs somebody who has marked the paper rather than taught the topic.

Physics (IGCSE)

Cambridge 0625 Core and Extended, Pearson 4PH1

Electricity and waves produce the widest spread of marks in the subject. Candidates describe circuits they should be calculating. The alternative-to-practical paper rewards students who have handled apparatus at school, which tutoring supports rather than replaces.

Chemistry (IGCSE)

Cambridge 0620 Core and Extended, Pearson 4CH1

Moles, electrolysis and qualitative analysis carry the Extended marks, and the six-mark answers need a taught structure rather than more words. Students who memorise ion tests as a list instead of as observations forfeit straightforward marks.

English Language and Literature

IGCSE First Language, IB Language A

Directed writing and the unseen commentary both test control of register. For Language A the Individual Oral collapses without two well-chosen extracts and a genuinely arguable global issue. Local supply here is the best on this list.

Economics

IGCSE 0455, IB HL and SL

Diagrams carry marks prose cannot recover, and the commentaries need sourced articles tied to one syllabus concept each. Reasonable local supply at IGCSE, noticeably thinner at HL where the evaluation demand rises.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways an Al Suyoh match is usually structured. All are delivered online over live video; the difference is how much of the student's problem each one is trying to solve at once.

One subject, one specialist

The default and the one that produces the clearest evidence. A single tutor for a single subject at a single level, weekly, with the work drawn from your child's own scheme of work. When a grade moves you know what moved it, which is not true of a household running three simultaneous interventions.

  • Matched on the syllabus code, not the subject name
  • Fixed weekly slot that survives a mock week
  • Written notes after each session naming the next topic
  • Reviewed at six weeks against real marked work

Two children, two boards

Common in Al Suyoh: an IGCSE student and a Diploma student in one house. These are two matches rather than one tutor stretched across both, because the papers and the criteria are different. Sessions can be scheduled consecutively so the evening is interrupted once rather than twice.

  • Separate specialists, consecutive slots where that helps
  • One scheduling conversation covering both children
  • Each child's notes and targets kept separate
  • No pressure to buy a bundle neither child needs

Finite coursework or decision block

A short defined run aimed at one thing: an Internal Assessment from research question to a marked draft, a Core or Extended tier review in Year 10, or an HL and SL selection conversation before the Diploma begins. It finishes when the question is answered, which makes the total cost knowable in advance.

  • Four to eight sessions with a stated endpoint
  • Criteria explained by letter with marks attached
  • Feedback on the student's own draft, never a rewrite
  • Ends on submission rather than rolling onwards

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Suyoh

01

Counting the specialists actually within reach of Al Suyoh

A near me search returns a list without telling you how long it is, which is the single most misleading thing about it. The table below does the opposite: it states, subject by subject, how deep local supply around Al Suyoh realistically runs and where the specialist for that combination is more likely to be found. It is an honest assessment rather than a count of names, because any count published on a page like this would be unverifiable and this page does not publish unverifiable numbers.

The pattern is consistent across every inland Sharjah district. Supply is adequate where the work is general and the student population is large, which means lower secondary mathematics, English, and Core-tier IGCSE subjects. It thins where the work becomes specific: Extended-tier sciences, HL mathematics on either route, Additional Mathematics, and anything involving a live Internal Assessment. It effectively disappears in the genuinely narrow subjects, where even a city-wide search in Sharjah returns nobody.

What the table implies for a parent is a decision rather than a disappointment. Where local supply is adequate, a local tutor is a perfectly sensible choice and worth pursuing through school parent groups and community boards. Where it is thin, a distance-based search will produce either nobody or a generalist presenting as a specialist, and the better route is to drop the distance filter entirely. Knowing which category your child's subject falls into is most of the decision, and nobody else in this market will tell you.

02

What to search instead of "near me"

  • Search the syllabus code: 0580 Extended, 0625, 0620, 4MA1, 4PH1
  • Search the assessment: exploration, commentary, Individual Oral, Paper 3 option
  • Ignore self-published ratings; ask about the criteria instead
  • Check how delivery actually happens before anything else

If the search term is the problem, a better term is the cheapest possible fix. Searching the syllabus code rather than the subject changes the results immediately: 0580 Extended, 0625, 4MA1, 4CH1. Anybody who writes about those codes has taught the papers, because nobody markets using a number they do not use daily. The same is true of criterion language. A page that explains what Criterion D of a science Internal Assessment rewards was written by somebody who has marked one.

Searching the assessment rather than the subject works similarly. An exploration, a commentary, an Individual Oral, a Paper 3 option topic: each of these is a phrase used by teachers and students and essentially unused by lead-generation sites. It filters out the directory listings that rank for every area name in Sharjah, including Al Suyoh, because a template inserted it rather than because anybody there teaches your child's paper.

The third improvement is to stop treating a star rating as information. A self-published rating tells you what somebody else's child experienced in a subject that may not be yours, and in this market the research found providers displaying two different ratings and review counts on the same page, and one showing five out of five from twenty reviews against a claim of thousands of students. None of that is checkable. A tutor's answer to a question about the criteria is checkable in four minutes, which is why it is worth more.

Finally, search for the thing most sites hide, which is the delivery model. A UAE page that routes you to an overseas phone number is delivering from somewhere other than where it implies. A page that states plainly how lessons happen is giving you the information you need to plan. This one states it: one-to-one over live video, Gulf Standard Time, no home visits anywhere in the UAE.

03

IB and IGCSE in one household: one tutor or two?

Al Suyoh households frequently have both boards running at once, often because children started at different schools or a move happened mid-education. The natural instinct is to find one tutor who can cover both, and in a narrow set of cases that works. In most cases it does not, and the table sets out which is which. The deciding factor is whether the two children are working towards the same kind of assessment, not whether they are studying the same subject.

Where one tutor is viable is in the mathematics continuum at the lower end: a Year 9 student and a Year 10 Core-tier student can reasonably share a tutor, because the content overlaps and the assessment demands are similar. Where it stops being viable is the moment one child's work involves criterion-marked coursework. A Diploma exploration and an IGCSE terminal paper need different expertise, and a tutor doing both is doing one of them less well.

The scheduling argument usually pushes families towards one tutor, and that argument is weaker than it looks. Two specialists booked consecutively interrupt the evening once, not twice, which is the only practical benefit a single tutor offered. Because nobody is travelling, back-to-back slots cost nothing to arrange, and each child gets somebody who has actually taught their paper.

What should never drive the decision is a bundle price. A package covering two children in three subjects looks efficient and usually means one of the five combinations is being taught by somebody working it out as they go. Buy the matches you need separately and keep the ability to stop one without disturbing the other.

Ministry of Education equivalency, for both routes

Families in Al Suyoh with children on either board eventually meet the equivalency question, usually when a university application makes it urgent. The British-track requirement was set out clearly in Gulf Today's July 2026 report: candidates must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, and must show either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects.

That detail matters because at least one competitor page ranking in this market states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects, which is wrong against the reported rule. A parent planning a subject load on a wrong number either over-enrols a child or panics unnecessarily. The exclusion of Arabic and Islamic education from the count also surprises families, who reasonably assume that mandatory subjects count towards everything.

The American track has its own thresholds, also reported in the same article: English proficiency via a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. No IB points threshold appears in that reporting, and nothing on this site publishes one, because any figure for the IB route would need to be read on the Ministry's own channel first. An unsourced number in a place like this is worse than no number.

Two further points are worth stating plainly. Equivalency is a Ministry process and a tutoring service neither performs it nor guarantees an outcome in it; this page describes it and points you to the official channel. And tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, for university admission or for school progression, so any page implying urgency about it is manufacturing pressure about a regulatory process.

05

What the first six weeks should produce

  • Six weeks tells you whether the match is right, not whether the grade moved
  • A diagnosis names the behaviour costing marks, not the effort level
  • The agenda should have changed by week five from the evidence
  • There should be an explicit continue, change or stop conversation

Parents in Al Suyoh ask how long before they see something, and the honest answer is that six weeks is enough to know whether the match is right, and not enough to see a grade move. Those are different things and conflating them leads families to abandon tutoring that was working or persist with tutoring that was not. The useful question at six weeks is whether the tutor can tell you something specific about your child that you did not already know.

A right match produces that. After six sessions a specialist should be able to name the topics that have settled, the topics that have not, and the specific behaviour costing marks: unjustified steps in a maths proof, command terms ignored, a mechanism described in words where arrows are required, a conclusion that restates rather than evaluates. That is a diagnosis, and it is checkable against your child's next marked paper. If instead you hear that your child is working hard and improving steadily, you have a report rather than a diagnosis.

The second thing six weeks should produce is a changed agenda. The topics covered in weeks five and six should not be the ones anybody planned in week one, because the first fortnight should have revealed something. A schedule that follows its original plan unchanged is a schedule nobody is reading the evidence from.

The third is a decision point. At six weeks there should be an explicit conversation about whether to continue, change frequency, change subject or stop. Tutoring that renews by default is tutoring nobody is evaluating, and in a household budget it becomes a standing cost with no review. If the honest answer at six weeks is that the sessions are not the intervention this student needed, that is worth hearing, and a service with nothing to sell beyond the next session has no reason to say it.

06

Verifying a tutor in three checks

Whoever you hire, including through this page, three checks are worth running and none of them takes long. The first is the permit. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated: the private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through MoHRE. UAE government guidance states it is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists application through its smart app, website and e-services system with a two-working-day completion time and no fee. Because it is free, there is no cost explanation for a tutor not holding one.

The second is the specification. Ask which syllabus code your child is entered for and listen to whether the tutor already wanted to know. A tutor who treats Cambridge 0620 and Pearson 4CH1 as the same subject has not taught both, and a tutor who asks which option topic the school chose has. This check takes one question and separates the pool more reliably than any credential on a profile page.

The third is the criteria. Ask what the coursework criteria are called and what they are worth. For a Diploma science Internal Assessment the answer involves criterion letters and a mark total; for an IGCSE the answer depends on whether the subject carries coursework at all, and a tutor who knows that it does not is demonstrating the same knowledge. People who use the criteria weekly have them memorised. People who have read about them do not.

One restriction belongs alongside these checks. A school teacher may not take paid private work with students enrolled at their own school. Abu Dhabi's ADEK has set professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff to that effect, as reported by Gulf News, and the permit carries a code of conduct making the same point. The apparent shortcut of hiring your child's own teacher privately is not available, and the current wording should be confirmed with the school or the regulator rather than taken from any tutoring site.

07

Moving from IGCSE into the Diploma, and the gap to close

  • Maths: procedural fluency to written justification, which is a technique gap
  • Sciences: recall to experimental design, exposed first by the Internal Assessment
  • Humanities: describing to evaluating, which is a writing problem
  • Check the AA or AI expectation with the actual universities on the list

A good proportion of Al Suyoh enquiries that arrive as near me searches are really transition questions. A student finishing IGCSE is choosing Diploma subjects, or has started DP1 and found the step larger than expected. The gap is real, it is predictable, and it is subject-specific rather than general, which means it can be closed deliberately instead of absorbed over a year of struggling.

In mathematics the step is from procedural fluency to written justification. An Extended-tier candidate who could execute methods reliably meets a Higher Level course where the marks sit in the reasoning between the steps, and the first set of DP1 assessments punishes that. In the sciences the step is from recall to analysis, with the Internal Assessment demanding an experimental design the student has never been asked to produce. In the humanities it is from describing to evaluating, which is a writing problem rather than a knowledge one.

The practical consequence is that the most useful tutoring in a transition year is often short and early. Two or three sessions before subject selection, looking at real marked IGCSE work rather than predicted grades, can change an HL choice that was going to cause two years of difficulty. A further block in the first term of DP1 on written justification or experimental design closes the gap while it is still small. Both are cheap compared with rescuing a position in DP2.

Choosing between Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation deserves its own conversation, and it should be driven by the student's intended degree as well as their current fluency. Some university courses expect the analysis route; an Al Suyoh family should check the specific requirement with the universities on their child's list rather than relying on a general rule, because the requirements differ by institution and by programme and they change.

08

Where authorship ends and tutoring begins

  • Available: criteria by letter, research-question design, referencing, marked drafts
  • Not available: drafting, rewriting to completion, or supplying text to insert
  • A weak draft comes back with the criterion named and a rewrite instruction
  • Book coursework support a term ahead, not in the final fortnight

Any page offering both IB and IGCSE help has to be explicit about this, because the boundary is where the market's worst behaviour lives. The research behind this page found a provider in the UAE selling completed Internal Assessments at a four-figure price. A student who submits work they did not produce risks a malpractice finding, and the consequence lands on the student rather than on the seller. That is not a premium tier of tutoring; it is a different transaction with the risk transferred.

The legitimate version is substantial. A tutor explains the criteria letter by letter with the marks attached, before any drafting starts. A tutor discusses candidate research questions and rules out the ones that cannot be controlled with available apparatus. A tutor teaches referencing properly, models the method on an unrelated topic, reads a draft the student wrote and marks it against the published criteria, then names the criterion that is unmet and sends the student back to it. A tutor rehearses the supervisor meeting.

What a tutor does not do is supply text, in any quantity or disguise. Not a paragraph to insert, not a rewritten conclusion, not an edit heavy enough to change the voice. The student writes every word. This is slower than the alternative and it is the only version in which the qualification the student receives is earned and safely their own.

For Al Suyoh families the scheduling implication is the same one that runs through this page: start early. A coursework block begun eight weeks before a school deadline can be taught. The same block begun ten days before cannot, and at that point the only remaining offers are the ones no honest service makes. Ask about the research question in the term before the deadline, not the week of it.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Suyoh

Al Suyoh sits in a cluster of inland Sharjah communities with a shared supply problem. These are the ones families here compare themselves against, and what changes between them.

Al Tai

Immediately north around Nasma Residences. Same plotted layout, same destination schools, same thin specialist pool. Families in both areas routinely swap tutor recommendations and find the same names circulating.

Al Rahmaniya

Villa community containing Sharjah Sustainable City. Marginally better placed for the Muwaileh schools, which makes a late-afternoon slot workable there more often than it is here.

Muwaileh

The school-dense district nearby, with Wesgreen International School and the International School of Creative Science inside it. Specialist supply is genuinely better where the schools are, because tutors cluster around them.

University City

Supplies the budget end of the Sharjah tutoring market, with published rates in that tier starting around AED 45-65 an hour. Useful at lower secondary level, rarely the right purchase for an HL science.

Al Zahia

Villa and townhouse community off the E311. A noticeable share of children commute towards Dubai schools, which both lengthens the day and widens the range of boards in play within one street.

Al Nouf

Established inland housing closer to the Al Dhaid road, with a school mix weighted towards CBSE and the Ministry curriculum. IGCSE families there travel further for their entry, which shifts the tutoring week later still.

Tilal City

Newer master-planned plots south of the airport road, still filling. Local tutoring supply lags the population by a couple of years in new communities, which is exactly when a distance-free match matters most.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the code, the level and the next date

Tell us the syllabus code from your child's exam entry, whether it is HL, SL, Core or Extended, and the date of the next assessment. Cambridge 0580 Extended and Pearson 4MA1 go to different tutors, and knowing which before the first lesson saves a wasted one.

  2. 02

    Hear the honest availability answer

Within the day you learn whether a specialist for that combination is free in your evening window, free at another time, or not available this term. For narrow subjects the answer is sometimes a wait, and you hear that rather than being booked with whoever is free.

  3. 03

Test the match in a free trial lesson

The first lesson costs nothing, takes no card details and is a real lesson. Send a recent marked paper. Ask the tutor which code your child sits and what the coursework criteria are called, and judge the answers; a specialist will not mind being asked.

  4. 04

Book, then review at six weeks

A fixed weekly slot with written notes naming the next topic, and an explicit review at six weeks on whether the diagnosis is producing change. If the match is wrong you say so and it changes. Nothing renews by default without that conversation.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The distance filter is removed, not worked around

Matching happens on board, subject and level, which puts an HL specialist within reach of an inland Sharjah district where a local search would return a generalist or nobody. That is the whole mechanism, and the trial lesson is where you check it worked.

Supply is described honestly, subject by subject

This page states where local tutoring around Al Suyoh is adequate and where it is not, including the cases where a local tutor is the better choice. No other page in this market publishes a coverage limit of any kind, which is why the honest version is worth reading.

Both boards handled as two things, not one

An IGCSE entry and a Diploma Internal Assessment need different expertise, so a household running both gets two matches booked consecutively rather than one tutor stretched across both. Back-to-back slots cost nothing to arrange when nobody is travelling.

Equivalency described, never performed

The British-track rule is quoted with its source and the IB threshold is deliberately left unpublished because no official source has been read for it. Equivalency is a Ministry process; a tutoring service describes it and points you there, and does not imply tutoring is required for it.

A boundary on assessed work, written down

Tutors teach, model, question and mark. Nobody drafts, rewrites or supplies text for an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or IGCSE coursework. In a market where completed assessments are openly sold, that boundary is a genuine difference rather than a formality.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Suyoh: your questions answered

Are there really IB and IGCSE tutors near me in Al Suyoh?+

Some, and the count depends entirely on the level. Lower secondary mathematics and English have genuine local supply, including undergraduates from nearby University City. Core-tier IGCSE subjects are reasonably covered. Extended-tier sciences, HL mathematics on either IB route, and anything with a live Internal Assessment have very little local supply in an inland plotted district like this one. IB Gram does not place tutors in UAE homes; lessons run one-to-one over live video, which removes distance from the shortlist so the match can be made on who has taught the paper.

What should I search for instead of a tutor near me?+

Search the syllabus code rather than the subject: 0580 Extended, 0625, 0620, 4MA1, 4CH1. Nobody markets using a code they do not use daily, so it filters out directory pages that list every Sharjah area from a template. Search the assessment too, using the words teachers use: exploration, commentary, Individual Oral, Paper 3 option topic. And ignore self-published star ratings, which are unverifiable and in this market sometimes contradict each other on the same page. A tutor's answer about the criteria is checkable in minutes.

Can one tutor cover an IGCSE child and a Diploma child in Al Suyoh?+

Sometimes, but less often than families hope. Two children on overlapping content with similar assessment demands, such as Year 9 maths and Year 10 Core-tier maths, can share a tutor sensibly. The moment one child has criterion-marked coursework the answer changes, because a Diploma exploration and an IGCSE terminal paper are different expertise. The scheduling argument for one tutor is weaker than it looks: two specialists booked consecutively interrupt the evening once, and since nobody is travelling, back-to-back slots are easy to arrange.

How many IGCSE passes does the Ministry equivalency count need?+

Gulf Today reported in July 2026 that the British track requires passes in five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five. One competitor page in this market publishes a six-subject figure, which conflicts with that reporting. Equivalency is a Ministry process, so confirm the current rule through its own channel before planning a subject load.

Why is there no IB equivalency points figure on this page?+

Because no official source for it has been read. The reporting used for the British and American tracks states no IB points threshold, and the IB's own site returns an access error to automated checking, so publishing a number would mean guessing on a page a parent might act on. Any site that quotes an IB equivalency figure should be asked where it read it. The right route is the Ministry of Education's own channel or the emirate attestation authority, and tutoring is not a requirement of that process in any case.

What should six weeks of tutoring have produced?+

A diagnosis, not a grade. After six sessions a specialist should be able to name which topics have settled, which have not, and the specific behaviour costing marks: unjustified steps in a proof, a command term ignored, a mechanism written in words where arrows are required. That is checkable against the next marked paper. If what you hear instead is that your child is working hard and improving steadily, you have been given a report rather than a diagnosis, and it is worth asking a sharper question.

How do I check an Al Suyoh tutor holds the right permit?+

Ask to see the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. UAE government guidance states it is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists application through its smart app, website and e-services system with a two-working-day completion time and no fee. Because the permit costs nothing, there is no cost explanation for its absence. People tutoring without it are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no fine schedule is published, so quoted amounts are unverified.

Is the step from IGCSE to the IB Diploma as big as people say?+

It is real and it is specific rather than general. In mathematics the step is from executing methods to justifying them in writing, and the first DP1 assessments punish students who cannot. In the sciences it is from recall to experimental design, which the Internal Assessment exposes immediately. In the humanities it is from describing to evaluating, which is a writing problem. Because the gap is predictable it can be closed deliberately, usually with a short block before subject selection and another in the first term of DP1.

Should my child take Mathematics AA or AI?+

It depends on the intended degree as much as on current fluency. Analysis and Approaches is the proof-heavy route with a deeper calculus option; Applications and Interpretation is modelling and statistics with the graphical calculator used throughout. Some university courses expect the analysis route, and the requirement differs by institution and by programme and does change, so an Al Suyoh family should check with the actual universities on their child's list rather than relying on a general rule. A session reading real marked work is more useful than predicted grades here.

Does IB Gram visit homes anywhere in Sharjah?+

No. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. Lessons for Al Suyoh families are delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, scheduled around the Sharjah school day. For this district that is also the format that solves the real problem, since the constraint is the thinness of the specialist pool within driving distance rather than the availability of somebody general. If your child needs an adult physically present, the honest advice is to hire that locally.

What if no tutor covers my child's subject at the level we need?+

You are told at the enquiry rather than booked in and improvised with. Cover is reliable in mathematics on both IB routes, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economics and English across both boards. It is thin in Further Mathematics, Computer Science at HL, Music, Design Technology, Global Politics and the less common languages. Where a subject is covered but no slot fits your child's window, you get the realistic alternative times. Where it is not covered at that level, the answer is no with a suggestion of where else to look.

Can a tutor in Sharjah finish an Internal Assessment under time pressure?+

No, and the offer is a warning sign rather than a service. Under IB academic-honesty rules the work must be the student's own, and submitting material produced by somebody else risks a malpractice finding against the student, not the seller. The research behind this page found a UAE provider selling completed Internal Assessments outright. What is legitimately available is the criteria explained with their marks, help narrowing a research question, referencing taught properly, and a marked draft with instructions on what to rewrite.

Can my child's class teacher tutor them privately in Al Suyoh?+

Not if the child is enrolled at that teacher's school. Abu Dhabi's ADEK has set professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibiting paid private tutoring of students at their own school, as reported by Gulf News, and the MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct making the same point. A teacher may tutor other students outside school hours with the permit in place. Confirm the current policy wording with the school or the regulator rather than relying on any tutoring website, including this one.

Which exam series should an Al Suyoh family plan around?+

For Cambridge International, the June series with November as the resit route; the February/March series is offered to India only, so any date quoted for it belongs to another country. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. For the IB Diploma, UAE schools sit the May session. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, so get the version your child's centre uses from the school's exams officer before fixing a revision plan.

Drop the distance filter and send the code

If a search for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Suyoh has produced a list you cannot judge, the fix is not a wider radius. Send the syllabus code, the level and the date of your child's next assessment, and you will get a straight answer about whether a specialist for that exact combination is free in the evening window your school run leaves. The first lesson is free, runs one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and should end with a diagnosis you can check against the next marked paper. Where local supply is genuinely the better option, this page says so.
