IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Muwaileh

Searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Muwaileh is almost always a question about money as much as geography. This page prices it: what Sharjah families actually pay per month, what the hourly bands buy, and which parts of a tutoring bill produce nothing. Lessons from IB Gram are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so the tutor is chosen for the syllabus rather than for the drive from Muwaileh.

  • Market AED rates quoted with the provider who published them
  • One-to-one over live video, never a recorded course

IB & IGCSE in Muwaileh

What a tutor near Muwaileh really costs, and what you are buying

Start with the monthly number, because that is the one a household budget feels. A single weekly hour of qualified online subject tuition sits inside Bestimate's mid band of roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month in its Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table, and its specialist exam-year band runs from about AED 1,000 to over AED 2,000 a month. Two sessions a week with a named IB Diploma or IGCSE specialist crosses into that upper band quickly. Knowing that before you start means you choose a plan you can hold for two terms rather than one you abandon in week five.

The hourly figures behind those monthly totals are public if you look. EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to AED 65 an hour and Tutopiya from roughly AED 33 to AED 52, which is the university-student and budget-platform end of the market. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200. TutorChase lists about AED 270. BartyED quotes AED 650 for a premium named tutor. Bestimate's in-home band runs AED 180 to AED 350, and independent home tutors in Sharjah and Dubai are quoted anywhere from AED 200 to AED 500 once travel is priced in. Those are market rates from the providers named, not IB Gram's price list.

The gap between AED 45 and AED 650 is not a quality ladder with clean rungs. It is mostly three things: how much subject-specific examining experience the tutor has, whether a company is carrying office and sales costs, and whether somebody is sitting in a car. A parent in Muwaileh who books an in-home tutor is paying for the second half of a round trip along University City Road at the exact hour that road is at its worst. That premium is real and it is not teaching.

This is why IB Gram delivers tuition to Muwaileh as one-to-one online lessons over live video rather than as home visits. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-home visits are a service offered only in India. The practical consequence for your child is the one that matters: the Chemistry HL tutor who has marked that paper style for years is available to a Muwaileh family at 7pm on a Tuesday, instead of whoever happens to live within a twenty-minute drive of Muwaileh Commercial.

There is a second cost nobody itemises, which is wasted hours. A tutor who has not read the right syllabus spends the first three sessions finding out what the student is studying. On Cambridge IGCSE Maths that means knowing whether the entry is Core, with Papers 1 and 3 and a grade ceiling of C, or Extended, with Papers 2 and 4 and access to A*. On the IB side it means knowing whether the student sits Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, because the Paper 3 at Higher Level and the whole feel of the Exploration differ. Three misdirected sessions at market rate is AED 450 to AED 900 of nothing, and the page below shows how to avoid spending it.

At a glance

  • Monthly, not hourly, is the honest unit: one weekly hour lands around AED 600-1,200 a month at mid-market rates
  • Travel is a line item in every in-home quote, and it buys no teaching
  • Core versus Extended at IGCSE caps the grade before a single lesson happens
  • An IB Diploma Exploration or Internal Assessment is coached, reviewed and fed back on, never written for the student
  • A trial lesson costs nothing and removes the diagnostic sessions you would otherwise pay for
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Muwaileh sits beside University City and Al Zahia, and the households in it send children into British, Indian, American schools and schools licensed to run the IB, often on the same street. These are the programmes tutoring around Muwaileh is actually asked for, with the cost consequence of each stated plainly.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13 · DP1 and DP2

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. The diploma is awarded from 24 points to a maximum of 45, with up to three bonus points from the TOK and Extended Essay matrix. Most of the tutoring demand concentrates in Mathematics, the three sciences and Economics, and most of it arrives in DP2 when two Internal Assessments and the Extended Essay land in the same eight weeks.

For a Muwaileh household the DP is the most expensive programme to support badly. Market specialist rates of AED 200 to AED 450 an hour mean a two-subject rescue in DP2 costs more than two years of steady single-subject support started in DP1. The cheapest DP plan is almost always the early one: one hour a week in the weaker Higher Level subject from the first term, with the Internal Assessment timeline mapped against the school's own internal deadlines rather than the May session.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Cambridge reports grades A* to G and offers Core and Extended tiers in subjects such as Maths 0580 and Physics 0625. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE reports 9 to 1 and runs untiered papers in most subjects, with codes like 4MA1 for Maths and 4PH1 for Physics. The board and the tier decide the paper set, the grade ceiling and therefore the sensible number of tutoring hours.

Families around Muwaileh often discover the board only when the first mock paper comes home. It is worth checking, because an Edexcel 4MA1 past paper is poor practice for a Cambridge 0580 Extended candidate and the two mark schemes reward different working. Market IGCSE rates of AED 150 to AED 300 an hour online make that mismatch expensive: a term of practice on the wrong paper style is the single most common waste in the local market.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment in eight subject groups, with marks awarded against criteria A to D rather than as percentages. The Personal Project runs in MYP 5. Students move from MYP into either the Diploma or an IGCSE pathway, and the step into formal external papers is where most families first ask for help.

MYP support is the cheapest intervention available to a Sharjah family and the least bought. One hour a fortnight in MYP 4 and 5, aimed at the criteria wording and at writing to a command term, costs a fraction of DP1 remediation at AED 200 an hour and removes the most common reason students struggle in the first Diploma term: never having written to a mark scheme.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Subject choice drives cost more than level does, because the thin-supply subjects carry the premium. These are the IB Diploma subjects Muwaileh families request most, with what each one assesses and where marks leak.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

At Standard Level, Papers 1 and 2 carry 40% each and the Exploration 20%. At Higher Level the split is 30%, 30%, 20% for Paper 3 and 20% for the Exploration. Marks go on unjustified steps in proof and on calculator-paper arithmetic in Paper 2, which is where a weekly hour pays for itself.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Same weighting structure as Analysis and Approaches, different content: statistics, modelling and technology use dominate. Students lose marks by writing conclusions a dataset does not support and by skipping the interpretation sentence after a correct calculation.

Physics

HL and SL

Paper 1 is 36% of the grade across its multiple-choice and data sections, Paper 2 is 44% and the Internal Assessment 20%. The common leak is the extended-response question that asks for an explanation and receives a formula. Tutoring targets command terms and the data-analysis skills the Internal Assessment is graded on.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Same 36 / 44 / 20 structure as Physics. Organic mechanisms and the quantitative chemistry at the start of the course are the two places Sharjah students most often need rebuilding, usually because the MYP or IGCSE foundation was stronger on recall than on calculation.

Biology

HL and SL

Weighted 36% Paper 1, 44% Paper 2, 20% Internal Assessment. Long-answer marks are lost on command terms: distinguish, outline and explain each want a different shape of answer, and a well-memorised paragraph that answers the wrong verb scores nothing.

Economics

HL and SL

At Standard Level Paper 1 is 30%, Paper 2 40% and the Internal Assessment 30%. Higher Level adds Paper 3 and reweights to 20 / 30 / 30 / 20. The Internal Assessment is three commentaries on published news articles, and the marks go on diagram accuracy and on applying one key concept properly, not on summarising the article.

Business Management

HL and SL

Paper 1 is 35%, Paper 2 40% and the Internal Assessment 25%. Students lose marks by describing a tool instead of using it on the case: a SWOT with no conclusion earns far less than a shorter answer that reaches a judgement supported by the data provided.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is a guided analysis of an unseen text, Paper 2 a comparative essay, plus the Individual Oral; Higher Level adds the HL Essay. Marks are lost on Paper 1 by paraphrasing the text instead of analysing how it builds meaning for a specific audience.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Written papers plus a solution-development Internal Assessment. The frequent gap is between coding fluency and the documented design cycle the Internal Assessment is marked against, which is a process skill rather than a programming one.

Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Internal Assessment supervision

Core components

Coaching only: question framing, research planning, structure, referencing and feedback on the student's own drafts. A tutor may read, question and comment. A tutor may not write, complete or edit the work to a finish, and IB Gram does not do so, because that is malpractice under IB academic-honesty rules.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

At IGCSE the syllabus code decides everything about the work, so each entry below names it. Rates in the Sharjah market for IGCSE tuition run below IB Diploma rates, which is why starting in Year 10 rather than Year 11 is the cheapest decision available.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580, Edexcel 4MA1)

Core and Extended, or untiered 9-1

Cambridge Core sits Papers 1 and 3 with a C ceiling; Extended sits Papers 2 and 4 and reaches A*. Edexcel 4MA1 is untiered across two papers. Checking which of those three a student is entered for is the first thing any honest tutor does.

Physics (Cambridge 0625, Edexcel 4PH1)

Core and Extended, or untiered

Cambridge candidates sit a multiple-choice paper, a theory paper at their tier, and either Paper 5 practical or Paper 6 alternative to practical. Electricity and the moments-and-equilibrium topics generate most of the requests for help in Sharjah.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620, Edexcel 4CH1)

Core and Extended, or untiered

Mole calculations and the qualitative-analysis tables are the two reliable mark earners and the two most reliably skipped in revision. Paper 6 candidates need deliberate practice at reading other people's experimental methods.

Biology (Cambridge 0610, Edexcel 4BI1)

Core and Extended, or untiered

Long-answer marks hinge on command terms and on using the correct unit and scale in graph work. Transport in plants and human physiology are where recall-based revision tends to collapse under a six-mark question.

English Language (Cambridge 0500 or 0510, Edexcel 4EA1)

First Language or Second Language

0500 First Language and 0510 English as a Second Language are different qualifications with different mark schemes, and being entered for the wrong one is more common than parents expect. Directed-writing tasks reward audience and form before they reward vocabulary.

Economics and Business Studies (Cambridge 0455 and 0450)

Extended entry

Both reward diagram accuracy and a conclusion that answers the question asked. Data-response questions are where students who have revised definitions still lose half the available marks.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats are worth comparing on price. The rates below are market ranges from the published sources named elsewhere on this page, and the right choice usually depends on how many hours a week you intend to sustain rather than on the hourly figure alone.

Weekly one-to-one online, 60 minutes

The default. One subject, one tutor, same slot each week on Gulf Standard Time, with the student's own school material and past papers on screen. At qualified-tutor market rates of AED 150 to AED 300 an hour this is where the mid-band monthly figure of roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 comes from, and it is the format that survives a busy term.

  • Tutor matched to the exact syllabus code and tier
  • Session recordings or notes available for revision
  • No travel time added to either side of the hour
  • Slot can shift during mocks without losing the tutor

Intensive block before a series

Two or three sessions a week for six to eight weeks ahead of the June or November papers, built entirely around timed questions and mark-scheme reading. Market specialist exam-year monthly figures of AED 1,000 to over AED 2,000 apply here. It works as a top-up on secure content and fails as a substitute for a year of teaching.

  • Past-paper programme by topic, not by paper order
  • Written feedback against the mark scheme after each paper
  • Clear stop date, so the spend is bounded
  • Best started eight weeks out, not two

Fortnightly review and coursework coaching

A lighter arrangement for a student who is coping but drifting, or who needs supervision on an Internal Assessment, the Extended Essay or a Personal Project. The tutor reads the student's own draft, questions it and gives feedback. Writing or completing the work would be malpractice and is not offered.

  • Roughly half the monthly cost of a weekly hour
  • Deadline mapping against the school's internal dates
  • Referencing and academic-honesty practice built in
  • Useful through a term with no external exams

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Muwaileh

01

The monthly arithmetic before the hourly rate

An IB or IGCSE tutor around Muwaileh costs between roughly AED 240 and AED 2,000 a month depending on how many hours you buy and from which tier of the market. That range comes from Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 estimates for weekly one-hour sessions: around AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to over AED 2,000 for specialist exam-year support. Monthly packages advertised in the UAE market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Reading it monthly changes the decision. Most families who ask about an hourly rate are really asking whether they can run tuition for two terms, and the honest answer depends on the monthly figure, not the hour. One hour a week for a full academic year at a mid-market rate costs less than a panic block of three hours a week for the last two months, and produces a different result, because content gaps close slowly and exam technique closes fast.

The table below converts the common plans into monthly numbers at market rates so you can see which one your budget actually supports. Nothing in it is an IB Gram quote: these are the bands published by the providers and rate surveys named on this page, read in October 2026. IB Gram's own arrangement starts with a free trial lesson and a plan, and the price is discussed after a tutor has seen the student's work.

Hourly bands and who publishes them

The UAE tutoring market publishes less about price than almost any other consumer category, which is why three of the six best-ranking pages for these searches show no figure at all and the two that do quote US dollars. A Muwaileh parent deserves AED. The bands below are each attributed to the provider or survey that published them, read in October 2026, so you can check them rather than take them on trust.

Two patterns are worth naming. First, the in-home band sits consistently above the online band for the same level of tutor, and the gap is travel. Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 350 while independent home tutors are quoted at AED 200 to AED 500. Second, the premium end of the market is not a different subject expertise so much as a different scarcity: BartyED's AED 650 buys a named individual with a waiting list.

What this means for a tutoring decision near Muwaileh is simple. If a budget stretches to one subject at the qualified-tutor band, buy that rather than two subjects at the budget band. A student with a specific Paper 4 problem in Cambridge 0580 Extended needs somebody who knows that mark scheme; two cheaper hours a week with somebody who does not will cost more over a term and change less. The same logic applies to the premium end: paying AED 650 an hour for a named tutor makes sense only if the scarce thing is that individual's experience of the exact paper, and for most Sharjah students it is not. The mid band is where the syllabus knowledge starts and the overhead has not yet taken over, which is why most sensible plans in this part of the emirate sit inside it.

Where tutoring money is wasted around Muwaileh

Waste in a tutoring budget is rarely the hourly rate. It is hours that produce nothing, and there are five reliable sources of those. The first is a board or tier mismatch: practising Edexcel 4MA1 papers for a Cambridge 0580 Extended entry, or working at Extended difficulty with a Core candidate who cannot be awarded above a C. Two or three sessions of this is AED 300 to AED 900 gone.

The second is travel paid as teaching. A tutor who drives from central Sharjah to Muwaileh at 5pm has priced that journey into the hour. The third is the diagnostic period: a tutor who starts without seeing the student's last mock paper and school report spends the first two sessions discovering what a ten-minute document review would have shown. The fourth is paying for content delivery that the school already provides well, when the real gap is timed-paper technique. The fifth, and the most expensive, is starting in the last month before a series.

Each of these has a cheap fix, and the table sets them against what they cost. None of the fixes requires buying more hours, which is the point. The useful question is not how much a tutor near Muwaileh charges but how many of the hours you buy will be spent on the thing your child is actually losing marks for. A sixth source of waste deserves a mention because it is invisible on an invoice: paying for two subjects when the student only has the attention for one. Two hours a week on top of a Sharjah school day with Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies already in the timetable is a real load, and a tired student learns slowly at any hourly rate.

Online or in-home, priced honestly for this part of Sharjah

In-home tutoring is a real market in Sharjah and plenty of families use it. The fair comparison is not quality against quality, because a good tutor is good in either format. It is cost, tutor pool and reliability over a term, and in eastern Sharjah those three favour online clearly enough that IB Gram built its UAE service that way.

Cost first. The same tutor costs more in your living room because the travel is in the rate. Pool second, and this is the bigger factor: an in-home arrangement limits you to tutors willing to drive to Muwaileh at a specific hour, which for a subject like Physics at Higher Level or Economics Higher Level Paper 3 may be a very short list. Online removes the radius, so the constraint becomes the tutor's calendar rather than the map.

Reliability third. A 5pm in-home session that depends on University City Road or the Al Ittihad Road corridor will be cancelled or shortened several times a term, and those are hours paid for and not taught. A video session starts when it is meant to. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE at all, so this comparison is about the market rather than a menu, and it is published here because a parent weighing the two deserves the arithmetic. One honest point for the in-home format: a younger child who will not sit still at a screen may genuinely do better with somebody in the room, and for a Muwaileh family with a child in the primary years that is a fair reason to choose it. From Year 10 upwards, when the work is past papers, mark schemes and annotated scripts, the screen stops being a compromise and starts being the better tool.

What the exam calendar does to your spending plan

Tutoring spend should follow the calendar, not the panic. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series. The February and March series is offered to India only, so a Muwaileh candidate sits June, with November as the resit or staged route. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. Cambridge also places every centre in one of six administrative zones and warns that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, because it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

The dates that matter to a budget are the ones months before the papers. Entry deadlines sit with the school's exams officer well ahead of the series, internal Internal Assessment and Extended Essay deadlines sit earlier still, and results arrive long after. The Pearson November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and results for the November 2025 series reached students on 22 January 2026; June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students the following day. Those are published, checkable dates for past and current series, which is the point of citing them.

Spread across that calendar, a year of tuition costs less and does more than a block at the end. The plan below works backwards from a series rather than forwards from today. Always confirm the live timetable with the school's exams officer or on the board's own site, because provisional timetables are revised, and no IB session date is published here: ibo.org is the only source to trust for those, and the May session is the one UAE schools sit.

SPEA, the Ministry and what a Sharjah parent is actually paying into

  • SPEA approves fees, curricula and assessment methods for Sharjah private schools
  • Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies run alongside an international curriculum
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • Ask a prospective private tutor whether they hold that permit, and for the subject and board they teach

Private schooling in Sharjah is regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in the emirate. Its powers go beyond inspection: Sharjah's authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. That is a different arrangement from Dubai, where the Knowledge and Human Development Authority oversees quality, and from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, where the Department of Education and Knowledge supervises licensing and accreditation of private schools. In Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah the federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools, and Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge.

This matters to a tutoring budget in two practical ways. A fee increase at a Sharjah school is not a unilateral decision by the school, and the curriculum a school may offer is approved rather than assumed, which is why it is worth checking the current programme list rather than relying on what a school offered three years ago. Federal rules also require private schools to teach Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies alongside their licensed international curriculum, so a child on an IB or IGCSE pathway in Muwaileh is carrying those subjects too, and they are a frequent and under-bought tutoring need.

Tutors themselves are regulated separately. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount is quoted here. IB Gram holds no SPEA, Ministry or examination-board approval and claims none.

07

Coursework support: what you may pay for and what nobody may sell you

  • A tutor questions and gives feedback on the student's own draft; nothing more
  • Internal Assessment weightings run from 20% to 30% of a subject grade
  • Extended Essay: 4,000 words maximum; Theory of Knowledge essay: 1,600 words
  • IB Gram does not write, complete or edit assessed work to a finish, at any price

The most expensive mistake available in this market is not overpaying for a tutor. It is buying work the student must produce themselves. One page ranking for these searches sells completed Internal Assessments. Under IB academic-honesty rules that is malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student, not the seller: a withheld grade or a withdrawn diploma after two years of work.

What legitimate support looks like is narrow and genuinely useful. A tutor can help a student choose a researchable question, explain what the criteria letters actually reward, read a draft and ask the questions a supervisor would ask, show how to reference properly, and give written feedback the student then acts on alone. A tutor can teach the statistics a Mathematics Exploration needs or the data-handling a science Internal Assessment is graded on. A tutor cannot write a sentence of it, cannot edit it to completion, and cannot supply a model answer to be adapted.

This boundary also saves money. Coursework coaching at fortnightly intervals costs roughly half a weekly plan, and it is the highest-value spend in the Diploma because the Internal Assessment is 20% to 30% of a subject grade depending on the subject, and the Extended Essay feeds the three bonus points through the matrix. Word and page limits are fixed, published and worth knowing before a first draft rather than after: the Extended Essay runs to a 4,000-word maximum, the Theory of Knowledge essay to 1,600 words, and a Mathematics Exploration is expected in the 12 to 20 page range.

MoE equivalency: the cost of finding out late

  • Five accredited IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education
  • Plus one A-Level at E or two AS-Levels at E on the British track
  • American track: IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 reading and writing, and SAT Math 450
  • IB points threshold: verify on moe.gov.ae; no figure is published on this page

Families in Sharjah planning on a UAE university place need the Ministry of Education's equivalency of the school certificate, and the subject count is where parents are most often misinformed. For the British track, students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must also submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. One competitor page ranking for UAE tutoring queries tells parents six IGCSE subjects are required; the sourced rule is five.

On the American track, English proficiency is evidenced by a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. For the IB Diploma, no points threshold is published here: that figure must be read on moe.gov.ae or confirmed with the attestation authority, and publishing an unsourced number would be worse than publishing nothing.

The cost connection is direct. A student who discovers in Year 11 that they are one accredited subject short has to find an extra entry, often as a private candidate in a November series, with the tutoring that implies. A student who checks the requirement in Year 9 chooses their options around it and spends nothing extra. Equivalency is a Ministry process; IB Gram does not perform it, guarantee it, or claim any role in it, and tutoring is not required for it.

Where we tutor

Muwaileh and the roads that shape a session time

Muwaileh is an eastern Sharjah district pressed between University City Road and the Al Zahia and Aljada developments, with Muwaileh Commercial on its western side. These neighbouring areas share its traffic and its school runs, and families in all of them book the same evening slots.

Muwaileh and Muwaileh Commercial

Dense mid-rise housing with a heavy school-bus load on University City Road. A 4pm start is optimistic on a weekday; 5.30pm and 7pm slots fill first, and online delivery is what makes either workable without a second car journey.

University City

The campus belt immediately east, holding the University of Sharjah and American University of Sharjah. Households here are often academic staff, and the subject requests skew to Higher Level Maths and Physics.

Al Zahia

A newer villa and townhouse community north of Muwaileh built around City Centre Al Zahia. Younger families, so more MYP and IGCSE Year 10 enquiries than Diploma ones, and more weekend morning slots requested.

Aljada

Arada's mixed-use district on the Muwaileh side of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, still adding phases. New arrivals here often change school mid-year, which is when board and tier mismatches surface.

Al Taawun and Al Khan

Western Sharjah towers close to the Dubai boundary. Parents commuting back from Dubai rarely make a 5pm session, so the 7.30pm and 8pm slots dominate in this cluster.

Al Majaz and Al Qasimia

Older central districts around Buhaira Corniche and Al Wahda Street. Crossing the city from here to a tutor's address in the east during the evening peak can take longer than the lesson itself.

Al Nahda, Sharjah

High-density housing on the Dubai border, with many children attending Dubai schools. The return journey through the Al Ittihad Road corridor is the single biggest constraint on when a session can start.

Tilal City and Sharjah Garden City

Lower-density communities to the south and east on the Emirates Road axis. Distances here make in-home tutoring expensive to buy and unreliable to keep, which is why online is the normal arrangement.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Muwaileh

Muwaileh and University City

This cluster mixes British, American and Indian licences within a few kilometres, and several schools run more than one curriculum. Check the current programme list on the Sharjah Private Education Authority's own school information before assuming a school offers the IB Diploma or a particular IGCSE board.

  • American School of Creative Science, Muwaileh
  • International School of Creative Science, Muwaileh
  • Wesgreen International School
  • Delhi Private School, Sharjah
  • Our Own English High School, Sharjah

Central and western Sharjah

Families in Al Majaz, Al Khan and Al Qasimia draw on this group, and a significant number travel into Dubai schools instead. The board a child sits matters more than the postcode: two schools three streets apart can run Cambridge and Pearson papers in the same subject.

  • Sharjah English School
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah
  • Australian International School, Sharjah
  • The Westminster School, Sharjah

Schools are named here as context for the Sharjah education landscape only. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any school listed, and no school listed has reviewed this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send three documents

The last mock or school report, the subject list with levels, and the syllabus code if you have it. Ten minutes of your time removes the two diagnostic sessions a tutor would otherwise charge for, which at market rates is AED 300 to AED 600 you keep.

  2. 02

Get matched to the syllabus, not the postcode

A tutor is proposed for the exact board, tier and level: Cambridge 0580 Extended rather than general maths, Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches Higher Level rather than IB maths. Because lessons run online, the match is made from the whole available pool rather than from a radius around Muwaileh.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

One full session with the proposed tutor at no cost, using your child's own material. You are judging one thing: does this tutor know where marks are lost in this paper. If the answer is no, you have lost nothing and you ask for a different match.

  4. 04

Agree a plan with a stop date

Sessions per week, the slot in Gulf Standard Time, the topics in order, and when the arrangement is reviewed. A bounded plan is how a tutoring budget stays a budget instead of becoming a standing cost nobody re-examines.

  5. 05

Review against marked work, not feelings

Every four to six weeks, look at a marked paper rather than at confidence. If the same mark-scheme errors are still appearing, the plan changes: different topic order, different format, or a different tutor. That review is also where most families reduce their hours.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Prices you can check

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider or rate survey that published it and dated to when it was read. Three of the best-ranking pages for these searches publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars to families who transact in dirhams.

The whole hour is teaching

Online delivery removes the travel premium that sits inside every in-home quote in Sharjah, and removes the risk that University City Road turns a 60-minute session into 40 minutes. The saving is structural rather than a discount.

Specialists, not whoever is nearby

A Muwaileh family gets the tutor who knows the Paper 3 pattern in Economics Higher Level or the practical alternative in Cambridge 0625, rather than the best available tutor within driving distance at 5pm on a weekday.

Syllabus codes on the record

Plans name the board, code and tier: 0580 Extended, 4PH1, Analysis and Approaches Standard Level. That is how a mismatch gets caught in week one instead of in a mock, and it is the cheapest quality check available to a parent.

Clear limits, stated up front

No home visits in the UAE, no regulator or examination-board approval claimed, no grade promised, and no coursework written for a student. Knowing what is not on offer is as useful as knowing what is.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Muwaileh: your questions answered

What does an IB or IGCSE tutor near Muwaileh actually cost per month?+

Budget on the month, not the hour. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run roughly AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to over AED 2,000 for specialist exam-year support. Monthly packages advertised in the UAE include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Those are market figures from the sources named, read in October 2026. IB Gram's own arrangement begins with a free trial lesson and a plan, and the cost is discussed once a tutor has seen the student's work.

Is it cheaper to book an online tutor or a home tutor in this part of Sharjah?+

Online is cheaper for the same calibre of tutor, because travel sits inside every in-home rate. Published market bands put online qualified tutoring at AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, while in-home one-to-one runs AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's figures and AED 200 to AED 500 for independent home tutors. The second difference is reliability: an evening visit across eastern Sharjah is exposed to University City Road traffic, and lost minutes are paid minutes. IB Gram delivers UAE tuition online only; in-home visits are offered in India, not here.

Why does the hourly rate for Sharjah tutoring range from AED 45 to AED 650?+

Three things move the number. Examining depth in the specific subject and paper, the overhead the provider carries, and travel. EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to AED 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to AED 52 at the budget end. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase lists about AED 270, Bestimate puts specialists at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and BartyED quotes AED 650 for a named premium tutor. The top of that range is scarcity more than extra syllabus knowledge, which is why one subject at mid-band usually beats two at the bottom.

How many sessions a week should a Muwaileh family start with?+

One hour a week in the single weakest subject, for a full term, is the plan that works most often and costs least. It gives a tutor time to repair content rather than only drill papers, and it survives a busy school calendar. Two subjects at once is justified when both are Higher Level and both are below the student's target by two grades. Three or more sessions a week should be a bounded block of six to eight weeks before a series, with a stop date agreed in advance, rather than an open-ended arrangement that quietly becomes the family's largest monthly bill.

Can one tutor cover both an IB subject and an IGCSE subject for the same student?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking, because it reduces coordination for you. A tutor who teaches Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Standard Level can usually also handle Cambridge 0580 Extended for a younger sibling, and a Physics specialist can cover 0625 and Diploma Physics. The limit is paper-specific experience. Economics Higher Level Paper 3 and the IGCSE 0455 data-response questions reward different skills, so a tutor strong in one may not be strong in the other. Ask which specific papers and codes they have taught, and judge the answer rather than the claim.

My child has mocks in six weeks. Is paying for tutoring now still worth it?+

Yes, if the money goes to technique rather than content. Six weeks is enough to change how a student reads a question, allocate time across a paper, and stop losing marks on command terms, and those are often three to six grade-boundary marks per paper. Six weeks is not enough to rebuild two years of missing foundations, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. The sensible shape is two sessions a week built entirely around timed questions with written feedback against the mark scheme, then a taper in the final fortnight so the student is resting rather than cramming.

Which IGCSE board does my child sit, and why does it change the price of help?+

It changes what the hours are spent on. Cambridge IGCSE reports A* to G and tiers several subjects: Maths 0580 Core sits Papers 1 and 3 with a grade ceiling of C, Extended sits Papers 2 and 4 and reaches A*. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE reports 9 to 1 and is untiered in most subjects, with codes such as 4MA1 and 4PH1. Practising the wrong board's papers is the most common waste in this market, worth AED 300 to AED 900 over two or three sessions. The school's exams officer will confirm board, code and tier in writing.

Do private tutors working with families in Sharjah need a permit?+

Yes. Private tutoring in the UAE is covered by a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published. Asking a prospective tutor about their permit is reasonable and cheap.

Where does the money go in an in-home tutoring rate around University City Road?+

Into the journey. An in-home rate has to cover the tutor's travel in both directions at the hour you want them, which in eastern Sharjah is the hour the road is busiest. Bestimate's in-home band of AED 180 to AED 350 against an online qualified band of AED 150 to AED 300 is roughly the size of that premium, and independent home tutors quoted at up to AED 500 are pricing a narrow radius. The premium buys a physical presence, not better teaching, and it also buys exposure to cancellations. IB Gram does not sell home visits in the UAE.

How much does Internal Assessment or Extended Essay supervision cost, and what can a tutor legally do?+

Fortnightly coursework coaching costs roughly half a weekly plan, so in market terms around AED 300 to AED 600 a month. What it buys is narrow and valuable: help choosing a researchable question, an explanation of what the criteria reward, questions on the student's own draft, referencing practice and written feedback. What nobody may sell you is the work itself. Writing, completing or editing an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay to a finish is malpractice under IB rules and the penalty falls on the student. IB Gram does not do it.

Are online science lessons any use when my child has a practical paper?+

Yes, because of how the practical component is assessed. Cambridge candidates sit either Paper 5, a practical test, or Paper 6, the alternative to practical, and Paper 6 is a written paper about experimental method, data and error. That is exactly what a video session with screen-shared data sets and past-paper method questions can teach. Hands-on technique belongs in the school laboratory, and good tutoring does not pretend otherwise. For a Paper 6 candidate in Sharjah, deliberate practice at reading somebody else's method and spotting the weakness is usually worth more than extra bench time.

Does the exam calendar change when we should start spending?+

It should. Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, and the February and March series is offered to India only, so a Sharjah candidate plans around June with November as the resit route. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. Entry deadlines, internal coursework deadlines and mock windows all sit months before the papers, and spreading one hour a week across that span costs less than a block at the end. Confirm the live timetable with the school's exams officer, and note that Cambridge allocates centres to six zones with different timetables.

What should I ask a tutor before paying for a first session near Muwaileh?+

Five questions, in this order. Which board, code and tier have you taught for this subject? What are the paper weightings at this level? Where do students most often lose marks in it? What will the first four sessions cover? And do you hold a MoHRE private tuition work permit? A tutor who answers the first three precisely is worth the mid-market rate. A tutor who answers generally will spend your first sessions finding out what your child is studying, and at AED 150 to AED 300 an hour that is an expensive way to share information you already have.

Can sessions fit around a Sharjah school day and family routine?+

That is the main reason online works here. Sessions are booked in Gulf Standard Time and the common slots are 5.30pm, 7pm and 8pm on weekdays, plus weekend mornings, because a 4pm start rarely survives a school run through Muwaileh. Sharjah's government sector moved to a Friday-to-Sunday weekend, so households with a parent in a Sharjah government role often use Friday mornings, while families commuting from Dubai usually need the later evening slots. During Ramadan sessions commonly shift to a post-Iftar time, and a slot can move during mock weeks without changing the tutor.

What are we told if nobody is available for a thin-supply Higher Level subject?+

You are told, rather than matched to somebody approximately suitable. The thin-supply requests are usually Higher Level sciences, Economics Higher Level Paper 3, Computer Science and occasionally a second language at Diploma level. Where no suitable tutor has availability in the slot you need, the options are an alternative time, a place on the list when a slot opens, or a different tutor whose relevant experience is explained to you honestly so you can judge it. Taking a booking that cannot be served properly wastes your money and the student's term, which is the opposite of the point.

Price the help before you buy it

An IB IGCSE tutor near me in Muwaileh is a search about money, and the money behaves predictably: start early, buy one subject properly rather than two cheaply, send the syllabus code before lesson one, and spend the last eight weeks on timed papers instead of new content. Lessons from IB Gram are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, matched to the board and tier your child actually sits. Share the last mock paper and the subject list, take the free trial lesson, and decide after you have seen a tutor work with your child rather than before.
