IGCSE Tutor near me in Green Community

Typing "IGCSE tutor near me in Green Community" sorts the market by distance. It does not sort it by the thing that decides whether tutoring works, which is whether your child's problem is content, technique, comprehension or organisation. Those four need different help. IB Gram diagnoses first and teaches live, one-to-one, online on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Green Community

Four different problems that all sound like "my child is struggling"

Almost every enquiry from this catchment starts the same way: a subject is named, a grade is mentioned, and a tutor is requested. Underneath that sentence sit four quite different problems, and they need four different kinds of help. Buying the wrong one is the usual reason a term of conscientious tutoring leaves a grade where it started.

The first is a content gap: material that was taught and not learned, or was missed through absence or a change of school. It needs teaching, it takes a term, and it is the only one of the four that more lessons reliably fixes. The second is a technique habit: method lines never written, command terms answered at one depth, rounding applied too early, multi-part questions abandoned. The content is there and the marks are not. This needs drilling and it moves in weeks.

The third is comprehension. The mathematics or the science is sound and the student has answered a slightly different question from the one on the page, which in a catchment with this many home languages is common and frequently misdiagnosed as subject weakness. The fourth is organisation: work handed in late or not at all, revision that never starts, a mock arriving unprepared. That is a self-management problem and a subject tutor is a poor instrument for it.

A radius search cannot distinguish between those four, and nor can a price comparison. What distinguishes them is one marked paper read by somebody who knows the mark scheme. That hour is the single highest-value thing available to a family here, and it is why our first request is for a photograph rather than a phone call.

Two of those four diagnoses are not best solved by weekly subject tuition at all, which is worth saying on a page whose purpose is to sell weekly subject tuition. A technique habit is gone in four to six focused sessions, so an open-ended term costs more and removes the deadline pressure that makes the change hold. An organisation problem needs self-management work, and a subject tutor booked for it tends to become another appointment the student is unprepared for. Knowing which of the four you have is worth more than any comparison of hourly rates in this catchment.

Green Community makes this worth saying because proximity usually works here. The school run is short, often walkable, and most services a family needs sit inside Dubai Investments Park. The habit of choosing the nearest option is reasonable and well earned. It just does not sort tutors by anything that matters, and for the narrower syllabus codes it sorts the list down to nobody.

IB Gram teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. What follows: the four diagnoses compared, one-to-one set against group classes, school support and self-study, what Year 10 buys that Year 11 cannot, the AED bands with their sources, and the series calendar counted backwards.

At a glance

  • Content, technique, comprehension and organisation are four different problems
  • Only one of them is fixed by more teaching; the others need different work
  • One marked paper separates them in under an hour
  • Core and Foundation entries cap the grade, which is why Year 10 matters
  • No IB Gram home visits in the UAE; in-home tutoring runs only in India

Cambridge IGCSE

Four-digit subject codes including Mathematics 0580, Chemistry 0620, Physics 0625, Biology 0610 and English as a First Language 0500, examined externally at the end of the course. Most subjects run a Core and an Extended route, and the Core route caps the attainable grade. Examined in a June series and a November series.

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states that using the correct timetable version for your zone is essential, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. One email to the exams officer establishes which zone applies and is worth keeping.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Codes including Mathematics A 4MA1, Physics 4PH1, Chemistry 4CH1, Biology 4BI1 and English Language A 4EA1, graded 9-1, with Foundation and Higher tiers where a subject is tiered. Examined in a May/June window and a November window, with provisional timetables published ahead and then revised.

Pearson's recent dates show the rhythm a family should plan around: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Years 7 to 9, before any of it counts

The years with no certificate attached, and optional Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests available in March, May and October. Nothing here appears on a transcript, which is exactly why the gaps that form are the ones nobody notices until Year 10 assessments arrive.

Families in Green Community and Dubai Investments Park who start in Year 9 are buying the cheapest intervention available in the whole school career. Rebuilding algebraic fluency at thirteen costs a term of weekly sessions; rebuilding it in Year 11 costs marks on every paper that uses it, which is most of them.

AFTER16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

The sixth-form decision already being made

A Level in three or four subjects, or the IB Diploma with six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Both publish entry grades, and the grades for mathematics and the sciences are usually the highest on the list.

Both routes exist within this catchment without moving house, which makes the Year 10 tier decision consequential rather than administrative. Some published entry grades are simply not reachable from a Core or Foundation entry, so the requirement should be read before the entry is confirmed.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects this community asks about, with a note on which of the four diagnoses each one most often turns out to be. The pattern is consistent enough to be useful.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580; Edexcel 4MA1

Most often technique rather than content: method lines skipped, rounding applied at an intermediate step, multi-part questions abandoned after part (a). A student who can explain the question verbally has a technique problem, not a knowledge one.

Physics

Cambridge 0625; Edexcel 4PH1

Usually content plus one technique habit. Electricity and circuits is the genuine content weakness; the habit is failing to transpose a relationship before substituting, which closes off the second half of multi-part questions.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620; Edexcel 4CH1

Often a convention problem masquerading as content. Converting to moles after applying the ratio produces a plausible answer from the wrong proportion, and nothing on the script looks like a mistake.

Biology

Cambridge 0610; Edexcel 4BI1

Reliably a technique problem. The content is usually present and six-mark answers are written as unlinked lists, so the mark scheme cannot award the connected account it asked for.

English as a First Language

Cambridge 0500; Edexcel 4EA1

Comprehension at the question level: a competent piece written in the wrong register or for the wrong audience scores below a weaker one that read the task accurately. Underlining the audience and form before writing is most of the fix.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Genuinely comprehension and production together, with an assessed speaking component. Common in this catchment given the mix of home languages, and writing marks move fastest with paragraph planning rather than vocabulary work.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge 0455 and 0450

Technique at the top end. The high-tariff questions ask for evaluation, and candidates who list advantages against disadvantages without reaching a judgement cap themselves whatever they know.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

Split cleanly: the practical side is usually fine and the written theory is the gap. Confident coders lose marks on binary and hexadecimal conversion and network concepts because those are examined in prose.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606; Edexcel 4PM1

Nearly always content, because the calculus and identity work is genuinely new. It is also the code with the thinnest local tutor supply in this catchment, which is where the delivery model stops being a preference.

Arabic

Cambridge 0508 and 0544; school-set MoE streams

Stream placement first, diagnosis second. KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum and mandates separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, assigned after the diagnosis rather than before it. Two of the four common problems are not best solved by weekly subject tuition at all.

Diagnostic first session

One session built entirely on a marked paper, whose output is a written classification of the problem: content, technique, comprehension or organisation. It is free, and it is deliberately not a sales call, because the honest answer is sometimes that weekly subject tuition is the wrong purchase.

  • Built on the student's own marked paper
  • Marked against the official scheme, not by impression
  • Ends in a written classification and a recommendation
  • Includes the recommendation to buy nothing, where that is right

Weekly code-matched subject tuition

The right format for a content gap and for a technique habit. One tutor, one subject, one specification, following the school's scheme of work so the sequence supports the class rather than running parallel to it.

  • Matched to the syllabus code, not the subject name
  • 60 or 90 minutes at a fixed Gulf Standard Time hour
  • Written note after every session
  • Plan reviewed against the next school assessment

Short technique and organisation blocks

Four to six sessions with a defined end point, for a technique habit or a self-management problem. Habits move in weeks, so an open-ended weekly slot is the wrong instrument: it costs more and removes the pressure that makes the change stick.

  • A fixed number of sessions and a stated target
  • Timed questions marked externally each time
  • Deadlines mapped backwards by the student, not for them
  • Ends when the habit stops appearing on scripts

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Green Community

01

The four diagnoses, and what each one actually needs

Separating these four is most of the work, and it is work a radius search cannot do. A content gap means material was taught and not learned. It shows on a script as questions the student cannot begin, and as answers that stop after the first recall step. It needs teaching, it needs a term, and it is the only one of the four where buying more weekly lessons is straightforwardly the right response.

A technique habit shows differently. The student can explain the question verbally, the method is broadly right, and the marks are missing anyway: no working written, rounding applied at an intermediate step, a command term answered at the wrong depth, a multi-part question abandoned after the part that did not resolve cleanly. Those are behaviours. They move in four to six focused sessions and then they are gone, which means an open-ended weekly slot is the wrong product.

A comprehension problem is the one most often missed. The signature is correct work applied to a slightly different question from the one printed, or a competently written piece aimed at the wrong audience. In a catchment where home languages are as varied as they are here, this is common, and treating it as a subject weakness wastes a term. The fix is a reading discipline: underline what is asked, restate it, then answer.

An organisation problem is the fourth, and a subject tutor is a poor instrument for it. Work handed in late, revision that never starts, a mock arriving unprepared. What helps is self-management work - mapping a real task backwards from its deadline, repeatedly, until the student does it unprompted - and it is better bought as a short block than as a term of subject lessons that will also be missed.

02

One-to-one, group class, school support or self-study

Having identified the problem, the next comparison is the format, and one-to-one is not automatically the answer. It is the most expensive option per hour and the only one that diagnoses, which means it earns its price for a technique habit or a comprehension problem and is sometimes overkill for a content gap that a group class covers adequately.

A group class at a tuition centre is the cheapest supervised option per hour, because the teacher's time is shared. For a student who is broadly on track and needs structured practice with someone present, it is good value. It cannot identify one student's specific habits, and for a Green Community family it also costs two journeys a week, which is a real price in time even over short distances.

School support is the option families consistently under-use, and it is free. Most schools in this catchment run subject clinics, catch-up sessions or departmental drop-ins, and the teacher running them already knows the student, the scheme of work and the internal assessment calendar. Asking what exists before buying anything is sensible, and the answer sometimes removes the need to buy at all.

Self-study with past papers is free and works for exactly one thing: building familiarity with question shapes in a student who is already accurate. Its weakness is marking. Self-marking systematically over-rewards, because the student knows what they intended to write and reads their own shorthand generously, so a missing unit or an absent method line passes unnoticed. Self-study plus occasional external marking is a genuinely economical combination that very few families use.

03

What Year 10 buys that Year 11 cannot

The timing comparison matters more than the price comparison, because one decision taken in Year 10 constrains everything afterwards. Core and Foundation entries cap the maximum attainable grade. That is their function, and for a student who cannot access the higher paper at all it is the right call. Used as a confidence measure after a bad term, it trades a few comfortable months for a permanent ceiling.

Year 10 therefore buys evidence for a decision that is still open. Sit a timed paper at each route, have both marked externally against the official scheme, and read what the marks say rather than how the hour felt. A student losing Extended or Higher marks to unwritten method, early rounding and abandoned questions is a higher-route candidate with three fixable habits. A student who cannot begin most questions is a genuinely different case, and the marking makes that clear inside an hour.

Year 10 also buys habits at their cheapest. Writing method lines, holding full precision until the final step, underlining what a question asks before answering: these cost a term to install when nothing else is competing, and they pay on every paper in every subject afterwards. Installed in Year 11, they are being built during the mock cycle, which is the worst possible time to be changing how a student writes.

Year 11 buys something narrower but still real: habit repair and timed practice. What it cannot buy is a year of unmet content, and an honest tutor says so in the first session rather than in April. It also cannot reopen the tier decision in most schools, because the entry deadline has passed, and that is the one loss no amount of later effort recovers.

Reading three quotes from this catchment

  • Quote variation comes from format, distance and specialism, in that order of visibility
  • The in-home band overlaps the specialist band, so price cannot separate them
  • Ask which code, ask about marking, ask about the MoHRE permit
  • Group classes cost two journeys a week even over short distances
  • None of the published AED bands are IB Gram rates

Sort the published figures by what the hour contains rather than by what it costs, and the three quotes in your inbox stop looking like one market. At the bottom sit the online budget providers - Tutopiya advertising from about AED 33-52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45-65 - where the hour contains supervision and practice. In the middle sits online subject teaching, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150. Above that the figures split by what is being paid for: Dubai rate guidance puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350, with independent home tutors advertising up to AED 500, where part of the fee is a car arriving in your street, while specialist exam-year work is published at AED 200-450 and above, TutorChase quotes around AED 270 and BartyED publishes AED 650, where the fee is syllabus-code depth instead. All were read in October 2026 and attributed to whoever published them. A near-me shortlist mixes those two upper bands constantly, because from a Green Community address both of them simply look like the expensive option.

Put three quotes side by side and the variation usually has three sources, only one of which is about teaching. The first is the format: a group seat, a one-to-one hour online, or a one-to-one hour with a journey attached. The second is the drive, which from Green Community is modest and from Emaar South is not. The third is specialism, and that is the one worth paying for.

The trap is that the in-home band and the specialist band overlap almost completely. A family can pay AED 350 an hour and receive a generalist whose premium is covering a commute, or pay AED 250 an hour online and receive someone who has taught that syllabus code for years. Price alone cannot tell those apart, and neither can proximity.

What can tell them apart is asking. Which syllabus code have you taught, and what papers are in it? Do you mark against the official scheme, and can you show a marked example? Do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which the UAE government states is granted free of charge for two years? Three questions, three sentences each, and more informative than any rate comparison. None of the figures above are IB Gram prices; our fee is quoted after the free trial lesson.

05

The series calendar counted backwards from the papers

UAE candidates sit Cambridge IGCSE in the June series and the November series. The February/March series is offered to India only, so any page quoting a February exam window or a late-November entry deadline to a Dubai family is giving them another country's dates. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in a May/June window and a November window.

Counted backwards, the sequence is unforgiving. Final entries close months before the papers, and the route or tier is fixed at that point. Mocks sit about a term ahead and exist to generate diagnostic data. A timed-paper cycle needs the final eight to ten weeks, which presupposes the syllabus has been covered once. Where a science subject uses a practical test rather than an alternative-to-practical paper, that component has its own earlier date.

Most enquiries arrive after the mocks, which is precisely when the content window has shut. That is a workable starting point for recovering habit marks and a poor one for teaching a year of unmet material, and the first session should say which applies rather than promising both.

Two standing rules. Plan from the live official timetable on cambridgeinternational.org or qualifications.pearson.com rather than from any date restated on a tutoring page, this one included. And ask your centre in writing which of Cambridge's six administrative zones it sits in, because the zone determines which timetable version applies and Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility if the wrong one is used.

Online one-to-one from Green Community, with the limits stated

For code-matched IGCSE work the format fits the task, because most sessions are a marked paper on a shared screen with both people annotating the same question. A lesson can start at 4pm rather than 5.30pm because nobody is driving, and it does not cancel when the port roads or Sheikh Zayed Road seize up.

The selection effect is where it matters most, and it is sharpest for the narrow codes. For Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1 the local pool here is reasonable. For Additional Mathematics 0606, Further Pure 4PM1, a Cambridge 0511 speaking component or a first-language Arabic stream, a radius search from Dubai Investments Park can return nobody usable at all. Those are the cases where delivery model changes the outcome rather than the price.

A search with 'near me' in it deserves the blunt answer before anything else on this page: IB Gram offers no home visits in the UAE. Nobody drives to Green Community West, Green Community Motor City or anywhere else in Dubai Investments Park, because in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. That belongs near the top of a near-me page rather than somewhere a parent finds it after booking, and it is stated here for a specific reason - two providers ranking for these UAE searches route parents to an Indian phone number without disclosing that delivery is remote. Proximity is the thing this search asks for and the one thing we cannot sell you.

The honest limits: a student who will not begin work without an adult physically present does better in person, and that is also the student most likely to have an organisation diagnosis rather than a subject one. A weak connection shortens the hour whatever the clock says. A shared study space, more common in the apartment blocks here than in the villas, undermines any lesson because the tutor cannot manage the room. If one of those applies, hire locally and ask the three questions above.

07

Permits, copyright and the claims we do not make

  • MoHRE private tuition work permit, granted free of charge for two years
  • No published fine schedule, so no amount should be quoted to you
  • Official papers and schemes linked, never distributed
  • No KHDA, ADEK, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson approval claimed, because we hold none
  • No promised grades and no statistics without a source

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and the UAE government states that it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18.

MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, publishes no fee, lists a two-working-day completion time and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. The government states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit will be subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so we quote no amount and nor should anyone else. Never arrange paid tuition with your child's own class teacher.

On copyright: we do not host or distribute Cambridge or Pearson papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or specifications. They are the boards' material, and circulating unreleased content is a malpractice exposure for the student. We reference and link the official sources and work from the copies the school is licensed to provide.

What we do not claim: IB Gram is not KHDA approved, a KHDA Educational Services Permit being issued to training institutes with physical premises that we neither hold nor occupy. We claim no ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation or partnership, publish no self-asserted star rating or review count, promise no grade or improvement figure, and quote no statistic without its source and date.

08

Starting with a photograph rather than a phone call

Send the subject, the syllabus code if you have it, the year group and a photograph of the most recent marked paper. If the code is unknown, the paper carries it on the front cover, which is one of several reasons the photograph is the useful artefact.

The first session is the diagnosis. The tutor marks or re-reads the paper against the official scheme and classifies what they find: content, technique, comprehension, organisation, or a combination. That classification is written down and sent to you, and it includes the recommendation to buy nothing from us where that is the right answer - a school clinic that already exists, or a short self-study plus periodic marking arrangement.

Where weekly tuition is right, matching takes about a day for mathematics and the separate sciences on either board. Additional Mathematics 0606, Further Pure 4PM1, first-language Arabic streams and speaking components take two or three days, because the pool is narrow and we will not substitute a generalist. We say which case applies at the enquiry rather than afterwards.

The trial lesson is free, taught by the matched specialist rather than a salesperson, with no card details required and nothing to commit to beforehand. When nobody suitable has a slot at the hour you want, we say so and offer a different weekday, a short block, or a recommendation to hire locally with the three questions in hand. No competitor in this market publishes what happens when it cannot help.

Where we tutor

What a Green Community radius search covers

These communities share the school catchment. For an online lesson they are interchangeable; for an in-home booking the difference between them is a drive.

Green Community

Low-rise villas, townhouses and apartments on landscaped lanes with a small retail centre and several schools nearby. Reasonable local in-home supply by this cluster's standards.

Dubai Investments Park

The larger district Green Community sits inside, holding most of the catchment's school capacity across UK, American, SABIS and IB routes.

Jebel Ali

The industrial district to the west around the port and free zone, where port-road congestion deters tutors taking evening bookings from elsewhere.

Al Furjan

Metro-connected villas and townhouses north of here, with the deepest in-home tutoring supply in the cluster and the most Year 10 enquiries.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartments with very mixed home languages. Comprehension-type diagnoses are more common here than anywhere else in the catchment.

Dubai South

Large and new around the Expo site and Al Maktoum airport, where in-home tutors decline or surcharge bookings and the list shortens accordingly.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas deep inside Dubai South, with a 20 to 30 minute school run each way that rules out most early evening in-home sessions.

The Sustainable City

A planned low-energy community with its own IB school, close enough that some families here hold both curricula in view at once.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Green Community

Schools in and beside Green Community

The immediate school set is deliberately mixed, with UK curriculum, American curriculum, SABIS and IB continuum within a short radius. A parent comparing a tutoring quote with a neighbour may be comparing two unrelated assessment systems.

The wider catchment

Families here also use schools in Jebel Ali, Al Furjan, Remraam and The Sustainable City. Boards differ between them and sometimes between subjects inside one school, which is why the exam entry statement is the document a tutor actually needs.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send a marked paper, not a description

A photograph of the most recent marked paper carries the syllabus code and the evidence of where marks went. A conversation about how the term has gone cannot distinguish a content gap from a technique habit, and those need different purchases.

  2. 02

    Get the diagnosis in writing

The first session classifies the problem as content, technique, comprehension or organisation, and that classification is written down and sent to you. It includes the recommendation to buy nothing where a school clinic or periodic marking would do.

  3. 03

Match the format to the diagnosis

A content gap wants weekly subject tuition. A technique habit wants a short block with a defined end point. Comprehension wants a reading discipline. Organisation wants self-management work rather than a subject tutor.

  4. 04

Confirm the code before the first lesson

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are different papers for the same subject name, and the specifications diverge in the sciences. The code is on the exam entry statement and the front of any past paper.

  5. 05

Weekly slot or short block, reviewed on evidence

A fixed Gulf Standard Time hour where a term is right, or a defined number of sessions where it is not. Progress is measured against externally marked timed questions rather than against a sense that things are going better.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The diagnosis comes before the product

Content, technique, comprehension and organisation all present as the same sentence from a worried parent, and only one is fixed by more weekly lessons. No competitor page in this market separates them before quoting a rate.

We will tell you to buy nothing

Where a school subject clinic already exists, or where self-study plus periodic external marking would do, that is the recommendation. The free diagnostic session is a diagnostic session rather than a sales call.

Short blocks for habits, terms for content

A technique habit moves in four to six focused sessions and then it is gone, so an open-ended weekly slot costs more and removes the pressure that makes the change stick. We price and plan them differently.

Year 10 evidence for a Year 10 decision

Core and Foundation entries cap the attainable grade. Two timed papers marked externally give a family evidence while the entry is still open, rather than a feeling about workload after a difficult term.

Narrow codes become coverable

Additional Mathematics 0606, Further Pure 4PM1 and first-language Arabic streams have almost no in-home supply in this catchment. Online, they are matchable in two or three days rather than not at all.

AED bands are attributed to their publishers with the month read, the permit position comes from u.ae and MoHRE, and we claim no regulator approval because we hold none.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Green Community: your questions answered

How do I know whether my child needs a tutor or something else?+

Read one marked paper against the mark scheme before buying anything. If marks are missing on questions the student can explain to you verbally, the problem is technique and a short block of four to six sessions will do more than a term. If questions were not begun at all, it is content and it needs teaching over a term. If the work is correct but answers a slightly different question, it is comprehension. If sections are blank and work is going in late, it is organisation, and a subject tutor is the wrong instrument.

Is one-to-one tuition always better than a group class in Dubai Investments Park?+

No. One-to-one is the most expensive option per hour and the only one that diagnoses, so it earns its price for a technique habit or a comprehension problem and is sometimes more than a content gap requires. A group class is the cheapest supervised option because the teacher's time is shared, and for a student broadly on track who needs structured practice it is good value. It cannot identify one student's specific habits, and it costs your household two journeys a week even over short distances.

Should we ask the school for help before hiring anyone?+

Yes, and families consistently skip this step. Most schools in this catchment run subject clinics, catch-up sessions or departmental drop-ins, and the teacher running them already knows your child, the scheme of work and the internal assessment calendar. It is free and it is better informed than any external tutor on day one. Ask what exists, for which subjects and on which days, before buying anything. Sometimes the answer removes the need entirely, and sometimes it tells you exactly which gap an external tutor should fill.

Why does self-marking past papers not improve my child's grade?+

Because self-marking systematically over-rewards. The student knows what they intended to write, reads their own shorthand generously, and does not notice a missing unit, an unwritten method line or a command term answered too shallowly. So the paper is completed, filed, and nothing changes. Self-study plus periodic external marking is a genuinely economical arrangement that very few families use: the student sits papers alone, and someone who is not the student marks one in three against the official scheme and names the habits.

Is Year 10 or Year 11 the better time to start IGCSE tutoring here?+

Year 10, clearly, and the reason is the tier decision rather than the content. Core and Foundation entries cap the attainable grade, they are frequently chosen as a confidence measure after a bad term, and the ceiling only becomes visible when a sixth form publishes its entry requirement. Two timed papers marked externally give a family evidence while the entry is still open. Year 10 also installs habits at their cheapest, before they would otherwise have to be built during the mock cycle.

My child's maths is correct but the marks are low. What is happening?+

Almost certainly method lines not written down. A student works part of a question mentally, writes only the answer, and when the answer is right nothing is lost. On the next question a sign error creeps in, the answer is wrong, and with no working on the page every method mark available is lost as well. Over a full paper this routinely accounts for a whole grade. It is a discipline rather than a concept, and three or four sessions of strict enforcement usually installs it permanently.

Could my child's problem be reading the question rather than the subject?+

It is more common than families expect, particularly where English is an additional language, and it is the diagnosis most often missed in this catchment. The signature is correct work applied to a slightly different problem from the one printed, or a competently written English piece aimed at the wrong audience or form. Treating it as subject weakness wastes a term. The fix is a reading discipline: underline what is actually asked, restate the question in the student's own words, then answer. Two to four sessions usually does it.

What should I ask a tutor near Green Community before the first paid lesson?+

Three questions. Which syllabus code have you taught, and what papers are in it? Do you mark against the official scheme, and can you show me a marked example? And do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which the UAE government states is granted free of charge for two years? A tutor who answers the first two precisely and the third without hesitation is usually worth a trial. Price is the easiest thing to compare and tells you the least about any of this.

Why would a tutor recommend we do not hire them?+

Because two of the four common diagnoses are not best solved by weekly subject tuition, and saying so costs us one booking and buys a family a plan that works. An organisation problem needs self-management work, not a subject tutor who will also be missed. A content gap in a well-staffed department may be better served by a free school clinic run by someone who already knows the student. The written diagnosis from the free first session says which, including when the answer is to buy nothing.

How quickly can you find an Additional Mathematics 0606 tutor here?+

Two to three days rather than one, and we say so at the enquiry. Cambridge 0606 and Pearson's Further Pure 4PM1 have the thinnest specialist supply of any code in this catchment, because few students take them and fewer tutors cover the calculus and trigonometric identity content properly. A radius search from Dubai Investments Park or Dubai South commonly returns nobody usable, which is the clearest case in this cluster where the delivery model changes the outcome rather than merely the price.

Do group classes exist for IGCSE subjects in this part of Dubai?+

Yes, at tuition centres, and they are the cheapest supervised option per hour because the teacher's time is shared across the room. The honest trade is that a group class cannot diagnose one student's specific habits, which is exactly what a technique or comprehension problem requires, and it commits your household to two journeys a week. For a student who is broadly accurate and simply needs structured practice with an adult present, it is a reasonable purchase and often the right one.

Can a technique habit really be fixed in four sessions?+

Habits move faster than content does, and four to six focused sessions with external marking is usually enough to change one. The mechanism is unglamorous: the student sees two marks withheld for a missing unit, three times, and the behaviour changes. What does not work is discussing the habit, or adding it as advice at the end of a content lesson. It needs to be the whole purpose of the session, with the marking done by someone who is not the student and the losses named explicitly each time.

Does the science practical component affect when we should start?+

It can, and it catches families out. Where a centre uses a practical test rather than an alternative-to-practical paper, that component has its own date and is frequently earlier than the written papers, so a student planning to revise practical skills last may find the component already behind them. Ask the exams officer which arrangement applies and when it falls, and confirm the centre's Cambridge administrative zone at the same time, since the zone determines which timetable version applies to your child.

How do sessions work around Ramadan in Green Community?+

The hour moves and the plan usually does not. School hours shorten during Ramadan and households reorganise their evening around iftar, so a weekday 5pm slot typically becomes early afternoon or post-iftar for the month. Where a series is close, keep the frequency and change only the time, which holds up better than lengthening fewer sessions. Because no tutor is travelling to your address, moving a slot is a shared-diary adjustment rather than a renegotiation of someone's commute, and it moves back just as easily afterwards.

Diagnose first, then choose the format

If you are searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Green Community, the search is sorting by distance when the useful sort is by problem. Send the subject, the syllabus code if you have it, the year group and a photograph of the most recent marked paper. A specialist on that specification marks it against the official scheme and sends you a written classification: content, technique, comprehension or organisation, and what each one needs. The free one-to-one trial lesson online follows at a Gulf Standard Time hour that fits the short school run here, and the diagnosis is yours whether or not you continue.
