IGCSE Science Tutor in Green Community

An IGCSE science tutor in Green Community is worth most when the plan is built backwards from the series. Entry deadlines fix the route months ahead, the practical component often sits before the written papers, and a November resit can confirm in late January. IB Gram teaches live, one-to-one, online on Gulf Standard Time across Dubai Investments Park and beyond.

IB & IGCSE in Green Community

Science has more deadlines than any other IGCSE subject, and they are not all in June

Most families plan backwards from the written papers and find that the plan has already failed. Science carries more fixed dates than any other IGCSE subject area, and three of them arrive before the papers do: the final entry deadline, which fixes the route and the tier months in advance; the practical component, where a centre uses a practical test rather than an alternative-to-practical paper; and the mock window, which exists to generate diagnostic data and is usually treated as a verdict instead.

Those dates matter more in science than elsewhere because a student taking three separate sciences is carrying three sets of them. Three entry decisions, potentially three practical arrangements, three mock papers to read and three timed-paper cycles to fit into the same eight to ten weeks. The arithmetic of that is what decides whether a Year 11 in this catchment finishes the preparation they started.

A fourth date sits underneath all of them and belongs to the family rather than to the school. The content phase has to end before the timed-paper window opens, because new material introduced inside that window displaces the practice that converts knowledge into marks. For one science that is a manageable judgement. For three it is a scheduling decision that has to be taken deliberately, or the third science simply stops being prepared.

The first fact to get right is which series your child sits. UAE candidates sit Cambridge IGCSE in the June series and the November series. The February/March series is offered to India only, so any page quoting a February exam window or a late-November entry deadline to a Dubai family is handing them another country's calendar. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in a May/June window and a November window.

The second is the resit timing, which is counter-intuitive and consequential. The checkable Pearson dates show that November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, while June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the following day. A November resit therefore confirms in late January, which is tight against spring sixth-form deadlines and worth knowing before the resit is chosen rather than after.

Green Community is a practical place to plan this from. The community sits inside Dubai Investments Park, low-rise and walkable, with schools close by, and the school run is short enough that a family's time constraint is homework rather than travel. For three separate sciences that is the relevant constraint: three tutors in-home would mean three journeys a week, which is why families this side of the city often settle for one general science tutor by default.

IB Gram teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Laboratory work stays at school under the teacher's supervision, as the specification requires. What follows is the calendar counted backwards, the practical component's own timing, what to do with mock data, and the AED bands with their sources. Two emails come before any booking: one to the exams officer about the practical arrangement and the centre's zone, and one to us with the marked papers.

At a glance

  • Entry deadlines fix the route and tier months before the papers
  • A practical test, where used, sits on its own earlier date
  • UAE candidates sit June and November; February/March is India-only
  • A November resit can confirm in late January, after some sixth-form deadlines
  • No IB Gram home visits in the UAE; in-home tutoring runs only in India
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Which configuration a student is entered for changes how many calendars they are living on, which is the practical reason it matters here.

SEPARATEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Three separate sciences

Biology, Chemistry and Physics as three qualifications and three certificates, with Cambridge codes 0610, 0620 and 0625 or Pearson 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. The deepest route in content and the heaviest in deadlines, because every fixed date exists three times over.

In this catchment the practical consequence is scheduling rather than difficulty. Three sciences means three mock papers to read, three timed-paper cycles and potentially three practical arrangements, all inside the same eight to ten week window as every other subject's revision.

COORDINATEDAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Coordinated or double-award science

All three disciplines in one integrated course counting as two certificates, with Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 the usual form. One set of papers covering the three disciplines together, and therefore one calendar rather than three.

The scheduling advantage is real and underrated by families weighing this route. One entry decision, one mock to read, one timed-paper cycle. For a student already carrying eight or nine subjects, that difference is often worth more than the extra depth separate sciences would have provided.

COMBINEDAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Combined or single-award science

All three disciplines in one qualification counting as a single certificate, with Cambridge Combined Science 0653 and Physical Science 0652 as examples. The lightest load in both content and deadlines.

One science certificate contributes one subject towards the five the Ministry of Education requires for British-track equivalency, so a combined-science student needs the remaining four from elsewhere on their timetable. That arithmetic should be checked in Year 10, while the entry can still change.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Years 7 to 9, before the calendar starts

No certificates and no external deadlines, with optional Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests available in March, May and October. The only period in the whole sequence with no fixed dates attached, which is exactly why gaps formed here are invisible.

Families in Green Community and Dubai Investments Park who start in Year 9 are using the only window with no deadline pressure. The mathematics inside science - rearranging a relationship, handling prefixes, reading a scale - is cheap to build here and expensive to build during a Year 11 mock cycle.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below are the science components with the point in the calendar at which each one should be secure. Timing is the organising idea here, so the notes follow it rather than listing topics.

Physics: electricity and circuits

Cambridge 0625; Edexcel 4PH1

The most reliable weakness in this catchment and usually taught early enough to be repaired. Should be secure by the end of Year 10, because every later topic that needs formula transposition rests on the same skill.

Physics: moments, pressure and energy

Cambridge 0625; Edexcel 4PH1

Multi-step questions where an unconverted prefix invalidates the final answer. Worth drilling in the term before mocks, since the fix is a habit of writing units at every line rather than new content.

Chemistry: moles and stoichiometry

Cambridge 0620; Edexcel 4CH1

Should be automatic before the mock window, because it appears inside longer questions where an early set-up error propagates silently. Masses to moles first, always, is the enforceable rule.

Chemistry: organic and rates

Cambridge 0620; Edexcel 4CH1

Often taught late in Year 11, which makes it the chemistry content most likely to be unfinished at the mocks. Worth asking the school when it falls in the scheme of work.

Biology: transport and homeostasis

Cambridge 0610; Edexcel 4BI1

Content-heavy and spread across both years. The marks problem is answer structure rather than coverage, so it can be drilled at any point and is cheapest before the mock cycle begins.

Biology: inheritance and variation

Cambridge 0610; Edexcel 4BI1

Procedural once the cross is understood, which makes it one of the fastest gains available late. The explanation that follows the cross is where the marks actually sit.

The practical or alternative-to-practical paper

All Cambridge science codes

Assessed in writing and, where a practical test is used, often sitting earlier than the written papers. Four to six sessions of convention work is the highest-yield block in the subject and it has to happen before that date.

Coordinated sciences papers

Cambridge 0654; Pearson double award

All three disciplines interleaved in one paper, which rewards fast switching. Interleaved practice should start at least ten weeks out, because revising by discipline and then meeting them mixed costs orientation time.

Mathematics inside science

All routes and boards

Transposition, prefixes and reading a scale. Cheapest to build in Year 9 or 10 and most often diagnosed in Year 11, where it is misread as three separate science weaknesses.

Command-term discipline

All routes and boards

"State", "describe", "explain" and "discuss" set different depths. A behaviour rather than content, so it moves in weeks and can be targeted even after the mocks have been marked.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, each tied to a point in the calendar. Buying the wrong one for the point you are at is how a term of science tutoring produces no change.

Year 10 route and foundations work

Weekly sessions in the year when the configuration and tier are still open, building the mathematics inside science and the habit of writing units at every line. The cheapest work in the sequence and the only point at which the entry decision can still be influenced by evidence.

  • Timed diagnostic at each available route
  • Transposition, prefixes and scale reading drilled
  • Follows the school's scheme of work
  • A written recommendation for the entry decision

Practical paper convention block

Four to six sessions timed to land before the practical component, which where a practical test is used may sit earlier than the written papers. The highest-yield block in IGCSE science and the one most often scheduled too late.

  • Apparatus choices justified, not listed
  • Variable control written operationally with a measurement
  • Table headings, units and graph scales drilled
  • Laboratory procedures remain the school's responsibility

Post-mock timed-paper cycle

The eight to ten week run after mock scripts have been read. Timed papers marked externally against the official scheme, with each session attacking the habits the marking exposed rather than moving to a fresh paper.

  • Papers under real timing, including the practical-style paper
  • Marked externally; self-marking over-rewards
  • A ranked habit list after each paper
  • Official past-paper sources linked, never redistributed

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Green Community

01

Counting backwards from the written papers, three sciences at once

Start at the papers and walk back. The last eight to ten weeks are the timed-paper window, and for a separate-science student that window has to accommodate three subjects plus everything else on the timetable. Before it, the mock papers, whose purpose is to generate data about habits rather than to produce a verdict. Before that, the final entry deadline, which fixes route and tier. And somewhere in the middle, the practical component, which does not wait for the written papers where a practical test is used.

Laid out that way, two things become obvious. The first is that the content phase has to end earlier than families assume. A student still meeting new chemistry content eight weeks out cannot both learn it and run a timed-paper cycle in three subjects, and one of the two will be sacrificed by default rather than by decision. The second is that the entry decision - separate, coordinated or combined; Core or Extended - is taken long before anyone feels any urgency about it.

For a coordinated or combined student the same map applies with one set of dates instead of three, and that scheduling advantage is genuinely worth weighing when the route is chosen. One mock to read, one timed cycle, one practical arrangement. For a student already carrying eight or nine subjects, that can matter more than the extra depth the separate route offers.

Our first question to a Green Community family is therefore which configuration and which series, and then where in this map they currently are. The answer determines what the available weeks can achieve, and it also determines what we should decline to promise.

02

The practical component has its own date, and families miss it

  • Ask which practical arrangement applies to each science, and when it falls
  • Ask which Cambridge administrative zone the centre sits in, in writing
  • Four to six sessions covers the written practical conventions
  • Controls stated operationally, with the measurement included
  • Units belong in table headings; graph scales should use most of the grid

Cambridge assesses practical skills in writing, through either a practical test or an alternative-to-practical paper depending on the centre's arrangement. Where a practical test is used, it is a separate component with its own slot, and that slot frequently falls before the written papers. Students who have mentally filed practical preparation as something to do last find the component already behind them.

That is one of very few genuinely avoidable losses in IGCSE science, and avoiding it takes one email. Ask the exams officer which arrangement applies for each science, when each component falls, and which of Cambridge's six administrative zones the centre sits in. Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one, so the zone answer is worth keeping in writing.

The preparation itself is short and high-yield, which is why the timing is frustrating rather than merely unfortunate. Four to six sessions covers it: justifying apparatus choices rather than listing them, stating each control operationally with a measurement rather than in principle, tabulating with units in the headings, choosing graph scales that use most of the grid, and describing a procedure a stranger could follow without guessing.

Each of those has an expected form the examiner is looking for. "Keep the temperature constant" earns less than "hold the water bath at 30 degrees Celsius, checked with a thermometer, for every run". Units in the table cells rather than the headings lose marks nothing in the student's understanding justifies losing. The hands-on work itself happens in the school laboratory under the teacher's supervision as the specification requires, and no tutor substitutes for that.

03

The November series as a resit route, and the January gap

UAE candidates have two sittings a year, which makes a resit a real option rather than a theoretical one. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs a May/June window and a November window. The February/March series is offered in India only, so it is not available to a Dubai candidate whatever a page elsewhere may imply.

The timing of the November route is where families need the detail. The checkable Pearson dates give it: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results, by contrast, reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the following day. So a June result lands in August and a November result lands in the second half of January.

That gap matters when a resit is being used to meet a condition. A sixth-form offer that needs a particular science grade, confirmed in late January, is tight against spring deadlines and in some cases arrives after a decision has had to be taken. The question to ask the receiving school is not whether they accept a November resit but by what date they need the result, and to ask it before the resit is entered rather than after.

Practically, a November resit also compresses the preparation into the autumn term alongside a new year's work, which is a scheduling problem rather than an academic one. For a student resitting one science while starting a sixth-form programme, one focused block on the specific habits the original script exposed usually beats a second full pass through the syllabus.

What to do with three sets of mock science results

Mock results arrive and the natural response is to react to the three grades. A 4 in physics prompts a physics tutor; a 6 in biology prompts relief. The more useful response is to ignore all three grades for an hour and read the three scripts side by side, because what matters is the pattern across them rather than the ranking between them.

Read that way, the three scripts frequently say the same thing in three accents. Prefixes mishandled in physics, unit errors in chemistry, a scale misread in biology: one mathematics problem, three subjects, one fix. Or command terms answered at a single depth in all three, which is one behaviour. When that pattern appears, hiring three science tutors is the wrong purchase and one tutor working on the shared cause is the right one.

Where the scripts genuinely disagree - chemistry failing on mole set-up while biology fails on answer structure and physics is fine - then the problems are separate and the question becomes which to spend the remaining weeks on. The answer is not the lowest grade but the largest recoverable loss. A 5 hiding twelve habit marks is worth more attention than a 4 reflecting genuinely unfinished content, because habits move in weeks and content does not.

The one thing not to do with mock data is treat it as a prediction. Grade boundaries are set after each series is marked, and a mock is marked against a boundary that no longer applies. We do not publish or distribute boundary tables, which are the boards' copyright material, and anyone converting a mock mark into a confident final grade is guessing.

Fitting three timed-paper cycles into eight weeks

A separate-science student in the final run has three subjects needing timed practice, plus everything else on an eight or nine subject timetable. The arithmetic does not work if each science is given a full weekly cycle, and the usual outcome is that the third one quietly stops happening.

The workable version staggers them. One science takes the full cycle for three weeks while the other two take single timed questions; then they rotate. The marking is what makes staggering viable, because a ranked habit list from one science usually transfers: a student who stops writing units in physics is not writing them in chemistry either, and fixing the habit once improves two scripts.

The practical-style paper should be inside the cycle rather than outside it, because it is marked on conventions that decay without use. A student who drilled apparatus justification in January and has not written a control statement since April will write a vague one in the exam. One practical-style question a week through the final run costs ten minutes and protects the marks the earlier block bought.

External marking matters more as the weeks compress, not less, because the whole purpose of the cycle is to find habits. Self-marking over-rewards, since the student knows what they intended to write and reads their own shorthand generously. One paper marked properly produces more usable information than three marked by the student, and in a compressed window usable information is the scarce resource.

06

Ramadan and the UAE school year inside a science plan

Any plan written for a UAE family has to survive Ramadan, and almost no page in this market mentions it. School hours shorten, households reorganise their evening around iftar, and a late-afternoon tutoring slot becomes either an early-afternoon or a post-iftar one for the month. Ramadan also moves roughly eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian calendar, so it currently falls inside the spring term.

For a Year 11 science student that timing is awkward, because it can land inside the timed-paper window. The answer is not to pause. Quantitative fluency - transposition, prefixes, mole set-up - decays faster than content knowledge, so protecting frequency over length is the right adjustment: two shorter sessions a week hold more than one long one while a student is fasting, and a complete pause usually means relearning in the first week back.

The rest of the UAE year has its own shape worth planning for. The long summer break between Year 10 and Year 11 is the only stretch with no competing demands, which makes it the natural window for the practical convention block and for fixing the mathematics inside science. The winter break interrupts the term in which mocks are usually prepared. Neither is an obstacle if it is in the plan.

Because nobody is travelling to your address, all of this is a diary exercise rather than a negotiation. Moving a slot from 5pm to 2pm for a month is a change two calendars absorb. Moving an in-home tutor's commute by three hours for a month is a request they may not be able to accommodate, and that asymmetry is one of the quieter practical arguments for online delivery here.

What science tutoring costs here, and the three-tutor arithmetic

Published Dubai figures, read October 2026 and attributed. Tutopiya advertises from about AED 33-52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45-65, both online. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 online. Dubai rate guidance puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 with independent home tutors advertising to AED 500. Specialist exam-year work is published at AED 200-450 and above, TutorChase quotes around AED 270, and BartyED publishes AED 650.

For a separate-science student the figures multiply in a way no competitor page addresses. Three disciplines done properly means three specialists, and in-home that means three journeys to the same address each week. From Green Community that is at least feasible; from Dubai South or Emaar South it is not realistic at any price, which is why families further out settle for one general science tutor by default rather than by choice.

Online the three-tutor arrangement is ordinary, and most families should still start with one. Three new tutors means three new homework streams arriving in the same week on a timetable that is already full, and the mock scripts read side by side usually show that one shared cause explains much of the pattern anyway.

Convert that to a monthly figure per discipline, because per discipline is the unit a separate-science household actually commits to. Dubai rate guidance estimates a weekly one-hour session at roughly AED 240-600 a month at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Read across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, the middle band becomes AED 1,800-3,600 a month and the specialist band passes AED 3,000 before anybody has marked a paper. The published packages sharpen the comparison a Green Community parent is really making: around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, against AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits, which is roughly double the monthly outlay for half the number of contact points, with a journey into Dubai Investments Park attached to each one. None of these are IB Gram prices; our fee is quoted after the free trial lesson.

Permits, equivalency and how to start on the calendar

  • MoHRE private tuition work permit, granted free of charge for two years
  • Separate sciences give three certificates, coordinated two, combined one
  • The equivalency arithmetic is a Year 10 check, not a Year 12 discovery
  • No KHDA, ADEK, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson approval claimed, because we hold none
  • Send all three marked science papers if there are three

The permit question usually arrives late, once an entry deadline has already fixed the route and the tier and a parent wants somebody in place this week. Answer it first instead. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a permit: the private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through MoHRE, and the UAE government states it is granted free of charge for two years - so a science tutor who will not discuss it is not avoiding a cost. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18, which is why the cheapest online science hours advertised into this catchment are often legitimately held by undergraduates. Tutoring without one carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws, with no published schedule, so any figure quoted to you for that has been invented. One line is firmer than the rest: never arrange paid tuition with your child's own class teacher, however convenient it looks with the practical component weeks away.

On equivalency, the configuration decides the arithmetic. The published British-track rule requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five. Separate sciences contribute three certificates, coordinated two and combined one, which is a Year 10 check rather than a Year 12 discovery. One page ranking in this market states the requirement as six subjects, which is not what the published rule says.

What we do not claim: IB Gram is not KHDA approved, a KHDA Educational Services Permit being issued to training institutes with physical premises that we neither hold nor occupy. We claim no ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation or partnership, publish no self-asserted rating, promise no grade or improvement figure, and quote no statistic without its source and date. We also do not host or distribute board papers, mark schemes or boundary tables, which are copyright material.

To start, send the configuration, the codes if you have them, the series your child is entered for, and a photograph of the most recent marked science paper - or all three papers, if there are three. A specialist reads them together, says whether the pattern is one shared cause or three separate problems, and teaches a free one-to-one trial lesson online. The written diagnosis is yours whether or not you continue, and if nobody suitable is free at your hour we say so and offer alternatives.

Where we tutor

Green Community and the streets that share its schools

These communities share a school set and therefore share the same centre-set deadlines, which is useful when comparing notes with a neighbour whose child sits the same board.

Green Community

Low-rise villas, townhouses and apartments on landscaped lanes with a small retail centre and several schools nearby, so the household constraint is homework time rather than travel.

Dubai Investments Park

The larger district Green Community sits inside, holding most of the catchment's school capacity across UK, American, SABIS and IB routes.

Jebel Ali

The industrial district to the west around the port and free zone, with older school sites and heavy evening congestion on the port roads.

Al Furjan

Metro-connected villas and townhouses north of here, with the deepest in-home science supply in the cluster and the most Year 10 enquiries.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartments with very mixed home languages, where comprehension inside science questions appears more often than content gaps.

Dubai South

Large and new around the Expo site and Al Maktoum airport, where three in-home science tutors a week is not a realistic arrangement at any price.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas deep inside Dubai South, with a 20 to 30 minute school run each way that compresses the usable evening.

The Sustainable City

A planned low-energy community with its own IB school, so some families here are weighing an IGCSE route against an MYP one in the same catchment.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Establish the configuration and the series

Separate, coordinated or combined, and the June or November sitting. The configuration decides how many calendars your child is living on, and the series decides which official timetable applies.

  2. 02

Ask the exams officer three questions

Which practical arrangement applies to each science, when each component falls, and which Cambridge administrative zone the centre sits in. The practical component often sits before the written papers and is the most avoidable loss in the subject.

  3. 03

    Send the marked papers together

All three if there are three. Read side by side they usually show whether the pattern is one shared mathematics or command-term problem across the sciences, or three genuinely separate failures needing separate specialists.

  4. 04

    Free diagnostic trial lesson online

A real one-to-one lesson with the matched specialist on the papers you sent, ending in a written note of what the pattern showed and what the weeks remaining can realistically achieve. No card details required.

  5. 05

    Stagger the timed cycles

Three sciences cannot each take a full weekly cycle in the final eight weeks. One takes the full cycle for three weeks while the others take single timed questions, then they rotate, with the practical-style paper kept inside the rotation.

The plan is counted backwards, not forwards

Entry deadlines fix route and tier months ahead, the practical component often sits before the written papers, and the content phase has to end eight to ten weeks out. Most science plans fail on timing rather than on effort.

The practical component treated as its own deadline

Where a centre uses a practical test it has a separate, often earlier date, and four to six sessions of convention work is the highest-yield block in IGCSE science. It is also the one most often scheduled too late to help.

Three scripts read together, not three grades

Mock scripts side by side usually show one shared cause in three accents - prefixes, units, command-term depth - which makes one tutor the right purchase rather than three.

The resit timing published, not glossed

November results have reached students in the second half of January, which is tight against spring sixth-form deadlines. The question to ask a receiving school is by what date they need the result.

Ramadan and the UAE year in the plan

School hours shorten and the usual slot becomes unusable for a month that currently falls in the spring term. Protecting frequency over length holds the quantitative fluency a pause would cost.

Figures and rules cited, never asserted

AED bands are attributed to their publishers with the month read, Pearson dates are quoted from the official source, and we claim no regulator approval because we hold none.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Green Community: your questions answered

When are IGCSE science exams held for a student in Green Community?+

UAE candidates sit Cambridge IGCSE in the June series and the November series; the February/March series is offered to India only, so any February window quoted to a Dubai family belongs to another country's calendar. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in a May/June window and a November window. The written papers are only part of it: where a centre uses a practical test rather than an alternative-to-practical paper, that component has its own date, frequently before the written papers. Ask the exams officer for both.

Does the science practical sit on a different date from the written papers?+

Where a centre uses a practical test rather than an alternative-to-practical paper, yes, and it frequently falls earlier. That catches out students who have mentally filed practical preparation as the last thing to do, and it is one of very few genuinely avoidable losses in the subject. One email to the exams officer settles which arrangement applies for each science and when each component falls, and it is worth asking which Cambridge administrative zone the centre sits in at the same time.

How late can we leave the timed-paper cycle for three sciences?+

Eight to ten weeks is the realistic minimum, and for three separate sciences it has to be staggered rather than run three times in parallel. One science takes the full cycle for three weeks while the other two take single timed questions, then they rotate. That also means the content phase must finish before the window opens: a student still meeting new chemistry content eight weeks out cannot both learn it and run a cycle in three subjects, and the third science quietly stops happening.

Is a November resit a good idea for a science grade?+

It can be, and the timing needs checking first. The checkable Pearson dates show November 2025 results reaching students on 22 January 2026, while June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day. So a November result lands in the second half of January, which is tight against spring sixth-form deadlines. The question to put to the receiving school is not whether they accept a November resit but by what date they need the result, asked before the entry rather than after.

How should we read three sets of mock science results?+

Side by side, and ignore the three grades for the first hour. Read that way, the scripts often say the same thing in three accents: prefixes mishandled in physics, unit errors in chemistry, a misread scale in biology - one mathematics problem, three subjects, one fix. Or command terms answered at one depth in all three, which is one behaviour. When that pattern appears, three science tutors is the wrong purchase and one tutor working the shared cause is the right one.

Which is the better use of the summer before Year 11?+

Practical conventions and the mathematics inside science, because the summer is the only stretch in the whole sequence with nothing competing for it. The practical component is marked on precision and its conventions are learnable in four to six sessions: apparatus justified, controls stated operationally with a measurement, units in table headings, graph scales using most of the grid. The mathematics - transposition, prefixes, reading a scale - is cheap now and expensive during a mock cycle, where it is usually misdiagnosed as three science weaknesses.

Does the configuration change how many deadlines we are managing?+

Substantially. Three separate sciences means three entry decisions, three mock papers to read, three timed-paper cycles and potentially three practical arrangements. A coordinated or double-award course covers all three disciplines in one integrated qualification, so there is one of each. For a student already carrying eight or nine subjects, that scheduling advantage is sometimes worth more than the extra depth separate sciences provide, and it is worth weighing when the entry decision is still open in Year 10.

When does the route decision for science actually close?+

At the final entry deadline, which sits months before the series and is set by the centre to board deadlines. In practice schools ask for decisions earlier than that, so the window is Year 10 rather than Year 11. That matters because the decision caps or releases the attainable grade on a Core or Foundation entry, and it also determines how many science certificates a student ends with, which feeds the Ministry of Education's five-subject equivalency rule. Ask the school when its internal deadline falls.

What should happen to science sessions during Ramadan?+

The hour moves and the frequency should be protected. School hours shorten and households reorganise their evening around iftar, so a weekday 5pm slot typically becomes early afternoon or post-iftar for the month. Quantitative fluency - transposition, prefixes, mole set-up - decays faster than content knowledge, so two shorter sessions a week hold more than one long one while a student is fasting. Because nobody is travelling to your address, the change is a diary adjustment rather than a renegotiation of someone's commute.

Can one tutor realistically cover three sciences in the final weeks?+

For a coordinated or combined course, yes, because the qualification itself is integrated. For three separate sciences at Extended level, the honest answer is that one tutor will be strong in one discipline and approximate in the other two, and at that level the mark schemes reward discipline-specific precision. The compromise most families here should make is to start with one specialist chosen on the evidence of the three mock scripts, and to add a second only if the next set of marks supports it.

Why does the content phase have to end so early?+

Because the timed-paper cycle is what converts content into marks, and it needs eight to ten weeks for three sciences. New content introduced inside that window displaces the practice, so the student finishes knowing more and scoring the same. That is the mechanism behind the familiar pattern of a conscientious late push producing no change in the result. If you are already inside the window, the honest plan is habit repair on what the mock scripts showed rather than covering the missing material.

Do you provide science past papers and mark schemes to work from?+

We do not host or distribute them. Cambridge and Pearson papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and specifications are copyright material, and circulating unreleased content is a malpractice exposure for the student. We reference and link the official sources on cambridgeinternational.org and qualifications.pearson.com, and we work from the copies your child's school is licensed to provide. A service offering a complete library of papers, or material not yet released, is worth declining on that basis rather than negotiating over.

How many science certificates does UAE equivalency count?+

As many as the configuration earns: three for separate sciences, two for a coordinated or double award, one for a combined single award. The published British-track rule requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects. A combined-science student therefore needs four of the five from elsewhere, which is a Year 10 check.

What does the free science trial lesson produce?+

A written diagnosis that is yours whether or not you continue. Send all three marked science papers if there are three, and the matched specialist - not a salesperson - teaches a real one-to-one lesson online built on them, finishing by writing down whether the pattern across the scripts is one shared cause or three separate failures, and what the weeks remaining before your child's series can realistically achieve. No card details are required to book it and there is no package to agree beforehand.

Get the dates, then send the papers

If you are looking for an IGCSE science tutor in Green Community, two emails come before any booking. One to the exams officer, asking which practical arrangement applies to each science, when each component falls, and which Cambridge administrative zone the centre sits in. One to us, with the configuration, the series and a photograph of each marked science paper. A specialist reads them together, says whether the pattern is one shared cause or three separate problems, and teaches a free one-to-one trial lesson online at a Gulf Standard Time hour that fits the short school run here.
