IB & IGCSE in Green Community

The Diploma is six subjects and a core, and the core is where points leak

A Diploma candidate earns up to 42 points from six subjects and up to three more from the core: Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, with Creativity, Activity, Service required but not graded. Those three points are a small fraction of the total and a large fraction of the stress, because they come from two long independent pieces of work with school-set deadlines that nobody chases until they are close.

This page is built around that structure rather than around a single weak subject. It sets out the six groups and what the internally assessed component looks like in each, then treats Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay as real work with their own failure modes, because in this catchment they are the components most often left until they cannot be done properly.

Green Community is a specific kind of place for this conversation. It sits inside Dubai Investments Park, low-rise and walkable, with schools close enough that a family's whole school run can be a short drive or a walk. That changes expectations: parents here are used to things being nearby. The one thing that is not nearby is a Diploma subject specialist, because IB provision in this part of Dubai is concentrated in a handful of schools and the tutoring market has grown up around UK and Indian curricula instead.

KHDA, which the UAE government describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai, reported 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 curricula, with the International Baccalaureate accounting for 7% of enrolment. Seven per cent is a substantial absolute number thinly spread, and this catchment is not where it concentrates.

There is a second reason to treat the core as the organising idea on a page like this. Subject difficulty announces itself: a grade falls, a teacher comments, a parent acts. The core does not announce itself at all. A student can be eighteen months into the Diploma with a thoughtful but unnarrowed Extended Essay question and no Theory of Knowledge example worth the name, and nothing on a report card will say so. By the time it becomes visible, the research weeks have gone to the mocks and the internal assessments.

IB Gram teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. For a Green Community family the trade is clear. You give up a person in the room and you gain the whole pool of specialists in your child's actual subject, rather than the subset willing to drive into Dubai Investments Park on a weekday evening.

What follows: the six groups with their internal components, the core treated properly, the Higher and Standard Level decision, the AED market bands read from the monthly end, the academic-honesty boundary, and how to start. Read it with your child's subject list and one marked assessment to hand.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The Diploma is one programme with two quite separate halves, and a third thing sitting underneath both. Families usually arrive asking about the first half only.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

The six subject groups

Candidates take one subject from each of studies in language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences and mathematics, plus either an arts subject or a second from another group. Three subjects are taken at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, each graded 1 to 7 from external papers plus an internally assessed component moderated by the IB.

Green Community students reach the Diploma mainly through the IB continuum schools in Dubai Investments Park and The Sustainable City, or by transferring from a UK-curriculum school at 16. The transfer route produces most of our requests, because IGCSE success predicts content comfort and nothing about internally assessed work.

COREAges 16-19 · Across both Diploma years

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Together these contribute up to three points. Theory of Knowledge is assessed by an essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition. The Extended Essay is an independent research piece in a subject of the student's choice, with a 4,000-word limit and a supervisor. Creativity, Activity, Service is required for the Diploma to be awarded but carries no grade.

Both are where points go missing in this catchment, and almost never because the work is too hard. The Extended Essay fails on a research question too broad to answer in 4,000 words. Theory of Knowledge fails on essays that make large claims about knowledge with no worked example to test them against.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four lettered criteria out of eight, with the Personal Project in MYP 5. No external papers for most students, which means the record of these years is a sequence of criterion judgements rather than test results.

For Green Community families the MYP question is usually whether the criterion profile predicts Diploma success. A student scoring well on inquiry and reflection criteria is better placed for the Diploma's internal components than their final grade alone suggests, and the reverse is also true.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1-Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led and organised around transdisciplinary themes, finishing with the Year 6 Exhibition. Assessment is formative and portfolio-based, with no external test, so number fluency and reading stamina can lag without anything flagging it until the MYP's written demands arrive.

The continuum schools serving this community run PYP through to the Diploma, so a child here may spend fourteen years inside IB assessment language. Tutoring at this stage is nearly always arithmetic fluency, handwriting speed and reading comprehension rather than anything programme-specific.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below are the Diploma subjects Green Community families ask about, described by their internally assessed component, because that is the part of the grade a tutor can most legitimately help improve.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Individual Oral links a global issue to two studied texts and is internally assessed. Paper 1 is unseen analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, and HL adds the written essay. Marks follow analysis of technique and effect; accurate retelling earns very little.

English A: Literature

HL and SL

Similar component structure with literary texts throughout. Candidates lose marks by writing about what happens rather than how the writing produces its effect, which is the same habit that limits Paper 1.

French B and Spanish B

HL and SL

Productive and receptive skills across prescribed themes with an individual oral. The oral is internally assessed, and students who prepare content without preparing spontaneous interaction lose marks in the unprepared section.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

HL, SL and ab initio

Relevant beyond the Diploma because KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum. A language B grade sits alongside that mandatory provision rather than replacing it, and the streams are distinct.

Economics

HL and SL

The internal portfolio is a set of commentaries on published news articles. Article choice decides the ceiling before writing begins, because an article with no usable economics cannot support diagram-led analysis.

Business Management

HL and SL

A research project on a real organisation, marked on the question, the tools applied and the evaluation reached. Thorough description of a company scores below selective use of data that leads to a judgement.

History

HL and SL

The historical investigation is internally assessed and includes evaluation of sources. Students who narrate the topic rather than interrogating the evidence lose the criterion that carries most of the marks.

Biology

HL and SL

The scientific investigation plus heavy command-term sensitivity on the papers. "Outline", "explain" and "discuss" demand different depths, and answering all three at one depth caps the paper independently of knowledge.

Mathematics: both courses

HL and SL

The exploration is internally assessed against criteria including reflection, which students routinely write as a conclusion rather than as critical evaluation. Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation are matched to different specialists.

Visual Arts

HL and SL

Portfolio and exhibition components in which documentation of thinking carries marks alongside the finished work. Under-documenting is the usual failure, because the development the criteria want to see was never recorded.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every Diploma request from this community, and they are chosen by which component is under pressure.

One subject, one specialist, weekly

A fixed slot with one tutor in one subject at one level, running through the term and following the school's scheme of work rather than a parallel syllabus. The default arrangement, and the one that suits a named subject difficulty.

  • Matched to the subject and level, not to availability
  • Follows the school's own sequence and set texts
  • 60 or 90 minutes, same tutor and hour each week
  • Written note after each session

Extended Essay supervision support

Process coaching alongside the school supervisor, not instead of them. The work is narrowing the research question until it can be answered in 4,000 words, designing a method, evaluating sources and understanding what the assessment criteria reward.

  • Research question narrowed until the evidence can answer it
  • Method and source evaluation discussed, not supplied
  • School internal deadlines mapped backwards from submission
  • No drafting, rewriting or completion by the tutor

Theory of Knowledge coaching

Short blocks on the essay and the exhibition, both of which fail for the same reason: abstraction with no worked example. The work is anchoring every knowledge claim to something specific the student can actually interrogate.

  • Prescribed title analysed before any writing begins
  • Every knowledge question tied to a real example
  • Exhibition objects chosen for what they let the student argue
  • Structure checked against the title that was actually set

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Green Community

01

The Extended Essay, and why 4,000 words is the real constraint

The Extended Essay is an independent research piece with a 4,000-word limit, and that limit is the design brief nobody reads as one. A question that would need a book cannot be answered in 4,000 words, so what gets submitted is a survey: broad, competent, and short of the marks that go to investigation. It is the commonest reason a capable Green Community student scores below their subject work on the core.

Narrowing is therefore the first and largest job, and it is one a tutor can do without touching a word of the writing. The method is mechanical rather than inspired. Take the question. Ask what evidence would answer it. Ask whether the student can actually obtain that evidence in the time available. If either answer is no, narrow and repeat. A question about education policy becomes a question about one measure, in one setting, assessed one way.

The second job is the internal calendar, which is set by the school rather than by the IB and sits earlier than families expect because the supervisor and the school both need time before submission. A student who has not chosen a subject by the end of the first Diploma year is compressing the research phase into the same term as the mocks and the internal assessments.

The third job is the boundary, and it is firm. A tutor may discuss the question, teach the subject content, explain the assessment criteria, evaluate sources with the student, check referencing conventions and read a draft against the descriptors. A tutor may not supply the question, write any part of the essay, or edit it to a finished state. Services in this market sell completed coursework, one advertising finished Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; submitting bought work risks the Diploma itself.

02

Theory of Knowledge: the component that rewards one good example

  • Anchor every knowledge claim to one small, testable example
  • Spend the first session on the prescribed title, not on the content
  • Answer the title set, not the neighbouring question
  • Choose exhibition objects for what they let you argue
  • The tutor questions and marks; the student writes every word

Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition, and students in this catchment lose marks in the same way almost every year: by writing abstractly. Large claims about how knowledge works, attached to nothing in particular, with no example the reader can test the claim against. The result reads thoughtful and scores poorly.

The remedy is specific. Every knowledge question needs an example concrete enough that the student can interrogate it, and good examples are usually small. A particular disputed measurement in a science the student studies. A specific historical account and the sources behind it. One piece of mathematics the student has actually used. The claim then has something to be tested against, which is what the assessment is looking for.

The second recurring failure is answering the title the student wishes had been set. Prescribed titles are precise, and a strong essay about a neighbouring question scores badly. The useful first session on any Theory of Knowledge essay is spent entirely on the title: what each clause actually demands, what would count as addressing it, and what an answer would have to contain.

For the exhibition, the objects matter less than what they let the student argue. A visually interesting object with nothing to say about the prompt is a worse choice than a mundane one that does. Students choose objects first and reasons second; reversing that order is a single session's work and it changes the mark.

03

Higher or Standard Level: a decision made twice

Every Diploma candidate takes three subjects at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, and the choice is made before the student has experienced either. It is then frequently revisited a term or two in, when the Higher Level load becomes real, and that second decision is where families need good information rather than reassurance.

The difference is not merely volume. Higher Level adds content, and in the sciences and mathematics it adds a paper built around sustained problem-solving across linked parts, which punishes students who abandon a question when one part does not resolve. It also raises the expected depth of the internally assessed component. A student who is comfortable with the content but not with sustained unfamiliarity may be better at Standard Level with a higher grade.

The destination has to be read before the decision is confirmed. Some degree programmes specify particular subjects at Higher Level, and some specify Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches rather than Applications and Interpretation. The only reliable method is to read the entry requirements for two or three target programmes directly, including any UAE universities on the list, and to do that before the drop deadline rather than after it.

Where a change is being considered, the evidence should be a marked assessment rather than a feeling about workload. A student losing Higher Level marks to technique - unwritten method, command-term depth, abandoned linked questions - is not necessarily in the wrong level. A student who cannot access the Higher Level questions at all is a different case, and an hour of marking makes the distinction clear.

What Diploma tutoring costs, read from the monthly figure down

Households budget monthly, so start there. Dubai rate guidance published for 2026 estimates a weekly one-hour session at roughly AED 240-600 a month at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000-2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Packages visible in the market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits.

Set those two packages beside each other and the structure of this market becomes clear. Roughly double the monthly cost buys half the number of contacts, and the difference is the tutor's travel. For a Green Community family that travel is a real cost to somebody, and it is being paid for in money and in a later start time.

The hourly bands behind the monthly figures, published October 2026 and attributed: Tutopiya from about AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65 at the entry level; Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200 online; Dubai rate guidance putting in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 with independent tutors to AED 500; specialists at AED 200-450 and above with TutorChase around AED 270; and BartyED at AED 650.

None of these are IB Gram prices and this page carries no rate card, because the fee depends on subject and level and is quoted after the free trial lesson. The point of publishing the bands is that a quote becomes checkable. Three of the pages ranking for this search publish no price at all, and its own FAQ on one of them asks what tutoring costs and declines to answer.

Online one-to-one from a walkable community, and where it does not fit

Green Community is built for short journeys, and most things a family needs are close. Diploma subject specialists are the exception, because the IB cohort in this part of Dubai is small and the local tutoring market grew up around other curricula. The consequence is that the convenience argument for an in-home tutor, which holds for most services here, does not hold for this one: the specialist usually is not local to begin with.

IB Gram offers no home visits in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and we state that near the top of the page rather than leaving it to be discovered after a booking, because two providers ranking for UAE searches route parents to an Indian phone number without disclosing that delivery is remote.

What online delivery gives a household here is the full specialist pool and an earlier start. A 4.30pm session catches a student who can still think; a 6pm session, after a tutor has crossed the city, often does not. Diploma work is largely document work - a marked script, a draft essay, an exploration - and a shared screen where both people annotate the same page suits it better than one paper copy between two chairs.

The limitations deserve naming. A student who will not begin work without an adult physically present does better in person. Younger children lose attention faster on screen. A weak connection shortens the hour whatever the clock says. And a shared study space - more common in the apartment blocks here than in the villas - undermines the lesson because the tutor cannot manage the room. If one of those applies, hire locally and ask about the MoHRE private tuition work permit first.

06

Academic honesty across the core and the internal components

  • Every sentence submitted must have been typed by the student
  • Criteria explanation, source evaluation and draft marking are all legitimate
  • Supplying a research question or writing a paragraph is not
  • No examiner claims, no distributed papers, no regulator approval claimed
  • A service selling finished coursework is selling a malpractice finding

This is the most consequential section on the page. The IB treats submitting work that is not the student's own as malpractice, and the outcome can be the loss of the Diploma rather than a mark penalty. With the core in particular - two long documents produced largely outside class - the temptation and the exposure are both at their highest.

The legitimate space is wide and worth knowing precisely, because families who do not know it are vulnerable to services that trade on the confusion. A tutor may teach subject content, explain each assessment criterion and what it caps, help narrow a research question, discuss method and source evaluation, explain referencing conventions, mark a draft against the descriptors and explain the marking. That covers nearly everything a Diploma student genuinely needs.

What a tutor may not do is write, rewrite or complete any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or exhibition commentary, supply a research question wholesale, produce data, or edit a document to a finished state. The test after every session is simple: was every sentence in that document typed by your child? There are services selling completed Internal Assessments in this market at AED 3,750, and that transaction buys an investigation the student cannot defend.

Three further claims to discount. We do not describe tutors as IB examiners, because current examiner status is not evidenceable for individuals and is routinely used to imply access to marking or boundaries that nobody has. We do not host or distribute IB papers, mark schemes, boundary tables or subject guides, which are copyright material; we link the official sources. And IB Gram is not KHDA approved - a KHDA Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with physical premises, which we neither hold nor occupy.

07

Permits and what to ask a tutor you hire directly

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated, and families hiring an individual directly should know what to ask. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The UAE government states that the permit is granted free of charge for two years.

Eligibility is deliberately broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, publishes no fee, lists a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

The consequence of skipping it is stated plainly by the government: individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE will be subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so we quote no amount and you should be sceptical of pages that do. In Abu Dhabi there is an additional layer, with ADEK's professional-ethics rules reported as barring private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school.

So the two questions to put to any independent tutor before the first lesson are whether they hold the MoHRE permit, and whether they have taught that specific subject at that specific level to IB criteria. Both are fair, both are answerable in a sentence, and a tutor who hesitates on either has told you something useful. And never arrange paid tuition with your child's own class teacher.

08

Starting, including what happens when nobody suitable is free

Send the subject and level, the school, and whichever document is the live pressure: a marked assessment, a draft internal component, or an Extended Essay question that is not yet narrow enough. The document is the useful part. Twenty minutes describing the term tells us less than two minutes with a marked script.

Matching runs on subject and level rather than availability. Standard Level subjects and both mathematics courses usually match within a day. Higher Level sciences, Arabic B and less common language B courses take two or three days, because the pool is narrow and we will not put a near-miss in front of a Higher Level draft. We tell you which case applies at the enquiry rather than after you have waited.

Core support is matched differently again. Extended Essay work is matched to the essay's subject, not to a general essay tutor, because the criteria and the expected method are subject-specific. Theory of Knowledge is its own specialism, and a good subject teacher is not automatically good at it.

The trial lesson is free, taught by the matched specialist rather than a salesperson, and built on the document you sent. It ends in a written note of what the document showed and what the first month should target, and that note is yours whether or not you continue. When nobody suitable has a slot at the hour you want, we say so and offer a different weekday, a short block, or an honest recommendation to look locally with the two questions above in hand.

Where we tutor

Green Community and the streets around it

Green Community sits inside Dubai Investments Park, and the communities around it share its schools and its distance from the rest of Dubai's tutoring market.

Green Community

Low-rise villas, townhouses and apartments arranged around landscaped lanes and a small retail centre, with several schools within a short drive. Unusually walkable for Dubai.

Dubai Investments Park

The larger mixed-use district Green Community sits inside, holding most of the catchment's school capacity across UK, American, SABIS and IB routes.

Jebel Ali

The industrial district immediately west, dominated by the port and free zone, with the catchment's older school sites and a long drive to central Dubai.

Al Furjan

Metro-connected villas and townhouses to the north, with its own school set and the deepest in-home tutoring supply in this cluster, such as it is.

Discovery Gardens

High-density apartments with very mixed home languages, generating steady demand for language acquisition and English A support.

The Sustainable City

A planned low-energy community with its own IB school, close enough that some Green Community families choose it for the Diploma years.

Dubai South

The newest part of the catchment, built around the Expo site and Al Maktoum airport, where distances are large even by Dubai standards.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas inside Dubai South. Families here drive 20 to 30 minutes to school, which rules out most evening in-home tutoring before it is priced.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Green Community

IB provision for Green Community families

Diploma provision serving this community is concentrated in a few schools, two of them running the full continuum. Cohorts are small, which is good for attention and limiting when a particular Higher Level subject is thinly staffed.

  • Greenfield International School, Dubai Investments Park
  • Fairgreen International School, The Sustainable City
  • Sunmarke School, Al Furjan

The surrounding school set

Most children in and around Green Community attend schools on other curricula, which is why a Diploma family here often has no neighbours sitting the same assessments and no local tutoring market built around IB criteria.

  • Nibras International School
  • The International School of Choueifat Dubai
  • Dove Green Private School
  • The Winchester School, Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • The Arbor School, Al Furjan

Schools are named purely to describe the local education context. IB Gram asserts no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or client relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject, level and the live document

A marked assessment, a draft internal component, or an Extended Essay question that still needs narrowing. The document decides what the first session is for, and it is almost always more informative than a description of the term.

  2. 02

Matched by subject, level and component

Subject tutors are matched to the subject and level. Extended Essay support is matched to the essay's subject rather than to a general essay tutor, and Theory of Knowledge is treated as its own specialism.

  3. 03

    Free diagnostic trial lesson online

A real one-to-one lesson with the matched specialist, built on the document you sent, ending in a written note of what it showed and what the first month should target. No card details and no package commitment.

  4. 04

    A plan organised by component

For internal components, sessions are organised by criterion so each one has a named target and you can see which criterion moved. For papers, a timed-question cycle with external marking against the official scheme.

  5. 05

Weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time

The same tutor at the same hour each week, re-cut at the core deadlines, the mocks and eight weeks before the session. Slots shift for Ramadan and examination weeks as a calendar change rather than a renegotiation.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The core is treated as real work

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay carry up to three points and cause most of the stress, and they fail for known reasons: a question too broad for 4,000 words, and abstraction with no worked example. Both are fixable early and expensive late.

Specialists, not a local shortlist

Green Community is convenient for most things and not for Diploma specialists, because IB provision here is concentrated in a few schools. Online delivery hands you the whole pool rather than the subset willing to drive into Dubai Investments Park.

Extended Essay support matched to the subject

The criteria and the expected method are subject-specific, so an essay in history needs a historian rather than a general essay tutor. That distinction is why some Extended Essay support achieves nothing.

Rates published with sources and a month

Every AED figure here is attributed to the provider or guide that published it in October 2026. Three pages ranking for this search publish no price, and one has an FAQ that asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer it.

A boundary that does not move

Tutors explain criteria, evaluate sources with the student, teach content and mark drafts. They never write, rewrite or complete assessed work. A service offering more is offering your child a malpractice finding at a price.

Only claims we can evidence

No KHDA, ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge approval, no UAE premises, no home visits in the UAE, no examiner claims, no self-asserted ratings and no statistic without its source and date.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Green Community: your questions answered

Can we get a tutor to come to our house in Green Community?+

Local agencies do serve this community, and Dubai rate guidance puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 per hour with independent tutors advertising up to AED 500, travel included in the figure. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. The particular problem here is that Diploma specialists are not local to begin with, because IB provision in Dubai Investments Park is concentrated in a few schools, so an in-home booking usually means a generalist rather than a nearer specialist.

How much do Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay actually matter?+

Together they contribute up to three points on top of the 42 available from six subjects, so arithmetically they are a small share. In practice they matter more than that, for two reasons. They are the components most likely to be left until they cannot be done properly, which turns a manageable three points into a term of pressure during the mocks. And a student who has not learned to narrow a research question or anchor an argument in evidence carries that gap into every subject's internal component.

Is 4,000 words a target or a ceiling for the Extended Essay?+

Four thousand words is the upper limit rather than a target, and treating it as a target is what produces padded essays. The more useful way to read the limit is as a design constraint: if the research question could not be answered within it, the question is wrong and should be narrowed before any writing starts. A narrow, well-evidenced essay comfortably inside the limit outscores a broad survey that reaches it. Your school will also publish its own internal deadlines, which bind earlier than the word count does.

My child's TOK essay reads well but scores badly. Why?+

Almost always abstraction. Theory of Knowledge rewards knowledge claims that are tested against something specific, and essays that make large statements about how knowledge works with no example attached read thoughtfully and score poorly. The second common cause is answering a neighbouring question rather than the prescribed title that was actually set. The fix for both is a session spent entirely on the title and on finding one small, concrete example the student can genuinely interrogate, before any further writing happens.

Which Diploma subjects do Green Community families ask about most?+

Mathematics first, split between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, with Higher Level Analysis and Approaches the single commonest request. Chemistry and Biology follow, usually tied to a scientific investigation deadline. English A Language and Literature arrives when Paper 1 marks stay flat despite strong classwork. Economics and Business Management come up around the internal portfolio or project rather than the papers. Arabic B appears steadily, because Arabic is required in Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum.

Should my child move a subject from Higher to Standard Level?+

Decide it on a marked assessment rather than on how the workload feels. Higher Level adds content and, in the sciences and mathematics, a paper of sustained linked problems that punishes abandoning a question partway. A student losing marks to technique - unwritten method, command-term depth, questions left after part one - is not necessarily in the wrong level. One who cannot access the questions at all is a different case. Read the entry requirements of two or three target degree programmes before confirming, and ask the school when the deadline falls.

How should a Green Community tutor work alongside the school's EE supervisor?+

No, and nobody should offer to. The supervisor is appointed by the school and is part of the assessment process, with required meetings and a reflection record. A tutor works alongside that relationship: narrowing the question, teaching the subject content, discussing method and source evaluation, explaining the criteria and marking a draft against the descriptors. A tutor who proposes to replace the supervisor, or to write any part of the essay, is proposing something that puts the student's Diploma at risk rather than helping it.

Are the AED figures on this page IB Gram's prices?+

No. They are market rates read from published competitor pages and Dubai rate guides in October 2026, included so that any quote you receive can be judged against something real. Entry-level online tuition is advertised from around AED 33-65 per hour, qualified online subject tutors from AED 150-200, in-home visits at AED 180-500 including travel, specialists at AED 200-450 and above, and one premium provider at AED 650. IB Gram's own fee depends on subject and level and is quoted after the free trial lesson.

How does the Individual Oral work for a Diploma English student?+

It is an internally assessed oral in which the student links a global issue to two studied texts, one in translation where the course requires it, and it is recorded and moderated. Students prepare content thoroughly and then lose marks in the unprepared discussion, because they have rehearsed a presentation rather than built an argument they can extend. Useful preparation is therefore practising being questioned on the chosen extracts rather than polishing the opening, and that is straightforward to do over video.

Is online tutoring effective for a Diploma student in Dubai Investments Park?+

For Diploma work, generally yes, because so much of it is document work: a marked script, a draft investigation, an Extended Essay outline. A shared screen where tutor and student annotate the same page suits that better than a single paper copy across a table. The scheduling gain matters too, since a 4.30pm start catches a student who can still think while a 6pm start after a cross-city drive often does not. It works less well for a student who needs an adult present to begin work at all.

What happens if no Higher Level specialist is available at our preferred hour?+

We tell you, and we offer the real options rather than filling the slot. Those are a different weekday with the right specialist, a shorter block until a regular slot opens, or an honest recommendation to look locally with two questions in hand: does the tutor hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, and have they taught that subject at that level to IB criteria. No competitor in this market publishes what happens when it cannot help, which is precisely why it is written here rather than left to a delayed reply.

Do you cover Arabic for the Dubai mandatory subject requirement as well as Arabic B?+

We cover Arabic streams, and the first step is identifying which one applies. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and mandates separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, stating that combined classes are strictly prohibited because expectations and language of instruction differ. KHDA also requires schools to ensure teachers of these subjects hold appropriate KHDA approval. Tell us the stream and the school's scheme of work.

When should a Diploma student start working on the core?+

The Extended Essay subject should be chosen in the second half of the first Diploma year and the question narrowed before the long summer break, because the research phase otherwise collides with the mocks and the internal assessments. Theory of Knowledge benefits from starting with the prescribed titles as soon as they are available, since the first useful session is spent on the title rather than on content. Both have school-set internal deadlines that land earlier than families expect, and the coordinator holds the calendar.

Will sessions still work during Ramadan for a Diploma student?+

They move rather than stop, and the shape changes. School hours shorten, households reorganise their evening around iftar, and a weekday 5pm slot usually becomes early afternoon or post-iftar for the month. For Diploma students the component under pressure decides what to protect: internal assessment work can take fewer, longer sessions, while anything quantitative needs frequency over length. Because nobody is travelling to your address, moving a slot is a calendar change rather than a renegotiation of someone's commute.

Start with the component under pressure

If you are searching for an IB home tutor in Green Community, the fastest useful step is to name the component rather than the subject. A marked script, a draft internal assessment, or an Extended Essay question that is still too broad to answer in 4,000 words: send whichever one is actually causing the trouble, along with the subject, the level and the school. A specialist in that subject reads it and teaches a free one-to-one trial lesson online at a Gulf Standard Time hour that fits the short school run here, finishing with a written diagnosis that is yours whether or not you continue.
