IB Tutor near me in Green Community

Searching for an IB tutor near me in Green Community is a question about distance when the useful question is about timing. The Diploma runs on a two-year calendar with one collision term that decides most grades, and the UAE school year adds Ramadan to it. IB Gram matches specialists by subject and teaches live, one-to-one, online on Gulf Standard Time.

  • A term-by-term plan rather than a weekly slot with no destination
  • Built around the collision term when internal deadlines and mocks land together
  • Ramadan and the UAE school calendar planned for, not improvised around

IB & IGCSE in Green Community

A "near me" search answers the wrong question for a Diploma student

Green Community is built for proximity. The school run is short, often walkable, and most of what a family needs sits inside Dubai Investments Park. So when something goes wrong academically, the instinct is to look for the nearest person who can help, exactly as one would for a dentist or a piano teacher.

For a Diploma subject, distance is close to irrelevant and timing is close to everything. The two-year programme has six terms and they do not interchange. One term is for building content. One is for designing an internal assessment. One - the collision term - carries internal deadlines, the Extended Essay and the mocks at the same time. One is for turning mock data into habit repair. The last is for timed papers and nothing else.

A tutor who starts in the right term with the wrong subject knowledge is a problem. A tutor with excellent subject knowledge who starts in the final term and begins teaching content is a different and more common problem, because that is the term in which new content displaces the practice that converts knowledge into marks. The calendar decides what help is even possible.

The UAE school year adds a second timing layer that no competitor page in this market mentions. Ramadan shortens school hours and reorganises the household evening around iftar, and it currently falls inside the spring term, moving about eleven days earlier against the Gregorian calendar each year. The long summer break is the only stretch with no competing demands at all, which makes it the natural window for Extended Essay research. The winter break lands awkwardly in the middle of the collision term. A plan that ignores all three is a plan that will be abandoned twice.

There is also a local supply fact worth stating plainly. KHDA reported the International Baccalaureate at 7% of Dubai private enrolment across 227 schools and 17 curricula, and this catchment is not where that 7% concentrates. Diploma provision serving Green Community sits in a handful of schools, and the surrounding tutoring market grew up around UK and Indian curricula. A radius search here returns general tutors in reasonable numbers and criteria-literate Diploma specialists rarely, which is a supply problem rather than a research failure.

IB Gram teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Because nobody is driving, a session can start as soon as a student is home rather than after a tutor has crossed the city, which in practice is the difference between a 4.30pm lesson and a 6.15pm one.

What follows is the six-term map, the collision term in detail, what to do with mock data, how Ramadan and the UAE academic year change the plan, the AED market bands with their sources, and how to start. One honest note on dates: IB session and results dates cannot be confirmed from the IB by automated means, so this page names the May session and publishes no specific IB examination or results date.

At a glance

  • Six terms, six different jobs; the same weakness needs different work in each
  • The collision term carries internal deadlines, the Extended Essay and mocks together
  • No new content in the final term; it displaces timed practice
  • Ramadan falls in the spring and moves about eleven days earlier each year
  • No IB Gram home visits in the UAE; in-home tutoring runs only in India
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three IB stages generate requests from this community, and they sit at different distances from an external deadline. That distance is what determines what tutoring can achieve.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

The first Diploma year

Content building across six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, with Theory of Knowledge running alongside and the Extended Essay subject to be chosen before the year ends. No external papers, so the pressure is invisible and the opportunity is large.

This is the cheapest and most productive year to use a tutor, and the one in which families here least often do. Habits built now - method lines written, command terms read before answering, a research question narrowed early - cost a term. The same habits built in the final year cost marks on every paper while they are being built.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

The second Diploma year

Internal assessments completed to school deadlines, the Extended Essay submitted, Theory of Knowledge assessed, mocks sat, then the external session. Five substantial things in roughly nine months, and most of them bunched into the middle.

The majority of enquiries from this catchment arrive in this year, usually just after the mocks. That is a workable starting point for habit repair and timed practice and a poor one for unmet content, and the honest first session says which of the two the family is dealing with.

MYP5Ages 15-16 · Year 11

MYP 5, the year before

The final Middle Years Programme year, with the Personal Project and, in some schools, optional on-screen eAssessments. Criterion grades out of eight rather than examination results, and the year in which the Diploma or A Level decision is made.

For Green Community families with children in an IB continuum school, this is the year to close the transition gap. The MYP does not require timed writing, formal notation at speed or recall at volume, and the Diploma assumes all three from the first week. A term of specific preparation here removes the first-term shock entirely.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects this community asks about, each noted with the term in which it typically becomes difficult. Timing is the organising idea on this page, so the subject notes follow it.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Difficulty usually arrives in the second term of the first year, when calculus and proof begin. Higher Level adds a third paper of long linked problems, and the habit it punishes - abandoning a question partway - is best fixed a full year before the papers.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Becomes difficult later, usually around the exploration, because the modelling and statistics content is accessible but the interpretation marks are not. Technology output quoted without the model named is the recurring loss.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Two difficulty points: energetics in the first year and organic mechanisms in the second. Both are scheduled, which means both can be worked before they arrive if the school's scheme of work is in hand.

Physics

HL and SL

Fields is the usual pinch point and it generally falls late in the first year or early in the second. Uncertainty and graph work cut across every term and are rarely revised because they belong to no single theme.

Biology

HL and SL

Difficulty accumulates rather than spiking, because the content volume is high. The marks problem is command-term depth, which can be drilled in any term and is cheapest in the first.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 technique plateaus early and stays plateaued unless addressed, because analysis of technique is a habit rather than a topic. The Individual Oral concentrates pressure in the collision term.

Economics

HL and SL

The internal portfolio of commentaries is spread across both years in most schools, which makes it the easiest internal component to keep on schedule and the most commonly left late anyway.

Business Management

HL and SL

The research project needs an organisation and data secured early. Students who have not confirmed access by the start of the second year end up changing subject matter in the collision term.

History

HL and SL

The historical investigation requires source access, so like Business Management it rewards early planning. Narration rather than source evaluation is the recurring criterion loss.

Arabic B and other language B courses

HL, SL and ab initio

Oral components sit in the collision term in most schools, and preparation for spontaneous interaction cannot be crammed. Relevant locally because KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of curriculum.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, each belonging to a phase of the calendar. Using the wrong format for the phase is the commonest way a term of Diploma tutoring achieves nothing.

First-year habit and content work

Weekly sessions through the first Diploma year, following the school's scheme of work and enforcing the habits the papers reward: method lines written, command terms read before answering, diagrams drawn before calculating. Cumulative and unglamorous, and what makes the final term possible.

  • Follows the school's sequence rather than a parallel syllabus
  • Habits enforced rather than discussed
  • Extended Essay subject and question raised before the year ends
  • Fixed Gulf Standard Time slot each week

Collision-term triage

A short, intense block for the term in which internal deadlines, the Extended Essay and mocks arrive together. The work is sequencing and criteria reading rather than teaching: deciding what gets done when, and making sure each submitted piece addresses every criterion.

  • Deadlines mapped backwards with the student doing the mapping
  • Each internal component read against its criteria once, properly
  • Mock preparation limited to technique, not content
  • Honest statement of what will not fit

Final-term timed practice

The last stretch, with no new content. Full papers under real timing, marked against the official scheme by someone who is not the student, and each session attacking the two or three habits the marking exposed.

  • Full papers under exam timing, Paper 3 included at Higher Level
  • Marked externally; self-marking over-rewards
  • A ranked habit list after each paper
  • Official past-paper sources linked rather than distributed

01

The six terms of the Diploma, and what each one is for

Laid out as six terms, the Diploma stops being a two-year blur and becomes a sequence with a logic. The first two terms are for content and for building the habits that papers reward, and they are the terms in which tutoring is cheapest and most effective. The third is where the Extended Essay subject and question should be settled and the internal assessments designed, because the following term cannot absorb that work.

The fourth term is the collision. Internal assessment deadlines, the Extended Essay deadline and the mock papers land within a few weeks of one another in most schools serving this catchment, and nothing about that is a surprise to the school even if it is to the family. A student who arrives at this term with an unnarrowed Extended Essay question and an undesigned investigation is not short of ability; they are short of weeks.

The fifth term is for turning mock data into habit repair, which is a specific and short piece of work rather than a general improvement effort. The sixth term is timed papers, and nothing else should happen in it. Introducing a new Higher Level topic in the sixth term is the single most reliable way to leave a student's grade exactly where the mocks put it.

This is why the first question we ask a Green Community family is which term they are in, not which topic is hard. The term determines what tutoring can achieve, and it also determines what we should honestly decline to promise.

02

The collision term, and how to survive it without losing the core

In most schools serving this catchment, the first term of the second Diploma year carries the internal assessment deadlines for several subjects, the Extended Essay deadline, Theory of Knowledge work and the mock papers. Five demands, one term, and a student who is also still being taught new content in six subjects.

What gets sacrificed in that term is predictable: it is the thing with no immediate audience. Mocks are visible and public, so they get attention. Internal assessments have a teacher waiting, so they get attention. The Extended Essay, whose supervisor meets the student occasionally and whose deadline the student half-believes is movable, gets written in a weekend. That is why Extended Essay marks in this catchment sit below subject marks so often.

The useful intervention is sequencing rather than teaching, and it takes one session with a calendar. Every deadline is written down with the date the school actually set, then each is worked backwards: what must exist a week before, two weeks before, four weeks before. The student does the mapping, because a map they wrote they will use and a map they were given they will not. Then the honest conversation about what will not fit, which is better had in week one than in week eight.

Mock preparation in this term should be technique only. There is no room for content and no benefit to it, because the mocks exist to generate diagnostic data rather than to be won. A student who spends the collision term cramming for mocks and submits a rushed Extended Essay has optimised for the thing that does not count towards their Diploma.

03

What to do with mock results, and what not to

  • Read the scripts, not the grades, for the first hour
  • Expect two or three habits repeating across several questions
  • Spend the remaining weeks where the recoverable marks are, not where the lowest grade is
  • Habits move in weeks; unmet content needs a term
  • A mock mark is not a prediction; boundaries move between sessions

Mock results arrive and families do one of two things with them. The common response is to react to the grade: a 4 in Chemistry prompts a Chemistry tutor, a 5 in Maths prompts relief. The useful response is to ignore the grades entirely for an hour and read the scripts instead, because the grade is a summary and the script is the evidence.

Read properly, a mock script almost always shows that the same two or three habits are costing marks across several questions. Method lines not written. Command terms answered at one depth regardless of what they asked. Multi-part questions abandoned after the part that did not resolve. Units omitted. Those are not subject weaknesses; they are behaviours, and they move in weeks when someone marks against the official scheme and names them.

It also often shows that the subject the family is worried about is not the subject with the biggest recoverable loss. A grade 4 may reflect genuinely unmet content, which needs a term nobody has. A grade 5 in another subject may be hiding twelve recoverable habit marks, which is a grade. Choosing where to spend the remaining weeks on the basis of grades rather than scripts routinely sends families to the wrong subject.

The one thing not to do with mock data is treat it as a prediction. Grade boundaries are set after each session is marked, and a mock is marked against a boundary that no longer applies. We do not publish or distribute boundary tables, which are the boards' copyright material, and anyone converting a mock mark into a confident final grade is guessing.

04

Ramadan and the UAE academic year, planned rather than improvised

Every tutoring plan written for a UAE family has to survive Ramadan, and almost no page in this market mentions it. School hours shorten, households reorganise their evening around iftar, and the usual late-afternoon tutoring slot becomes either an early afternoon one or a post-iftar one for the month. Ramadan also moves roughly eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian calendar, so it currently falls inside the spring term and will keep shifting.

For a Diploma student the timing is unhelpful, because Ramadan currently lands near the end of the second year, in the window that should be timed papers. The practical answer is not to pause. It is to change the shape: protect frequency over length, because fluency in quantitative subjects decays fastest when sessions stop, and a complete pause usually means relearning in the first week back.

The rest of the UAE academic year has its own rhythm worth planning for. The long summer break is substantial, which makes it the natural window for Extended Essay research and for closing a transition gap before the Diploma starts. The winter break interrupts the collision term. National holidays cluster at particular points. None of these are obstacles if they are in the plan, and all of them are if they are not.

Because nobody is travelling to your address, all of this is a calendar exercise rather than a negotiation. Moving a slot from 5pm to 2pm for a month is a change to a shared diary. Moving an in-home tutor's commute by three hours for a month is a request they may not be able to accommodate, and that asymmetry is one of the quieter arguments for online delivery in this market.

What a local search returns here, and what the market charges

Run the radius search from Green Community honestly. You will find general tutors in reasonable numbers, because 37% of Dubai's private pupils are on a UK curriculum and supply follows demand. You will find IGCSE maths and science tutors readily. You will find very few people who can read an Internal Assessment against its criteria, and fewer still with a free slot at 4.30pm on a weekday.

The prices attach to the format rather than to the specialism, which is the trap. Published October 2026 figures: Tutopiya from about AED 33-52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45-65 at the entry level; Unitors publishing IB from AED 200 online; Dubai rate guidance putting in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 with independent tutors to AED 500; specialists at AED 200-450 and above with TutorChase around AED 270; and BartyED at AED 650.

Notice that the in-home band overlaps the specialist band almost entirely. A family can pay specialist money for a generalist because the premium is covering a journey rather than criteria knowledge. In a community where the local Diploma supply is this thin, that is not a theoretical risk; it is the default outcome of a radius search.

None of these are IB Gram prices, and this page carries no rate card because the fee depends on subject and level and is quoted after the free trial lesson. The bands are published so a quote can be judged against something real. Three of the pages ranking for this search publish no price at all, and one carries an FAQ asking what tutoring costs and then declines to answer it.

Online one-to-one from Green Community, and where it falls short

The case for online delivery here is partly about supply and partly about the clock. Supply, because the Diploma specialists this community needs are mostly not local. The clock, because a session that does not wait for a cross-city drive can start at 4.30pm, and a Diploma student working at 4.30pm is a different student from one working at 6.15pm after six subjects and a bus.

The work also suits the format. Diploma tutoring is largely reading documents together: a marked script, a draft investigation, an Extended Essay outline, a Theory of Knowledge paragraph that needs an example attaching to it. A shared screen where both people annotate the same page beats one paper copy across a table, and the session can be reviewed afterwards.

IB Gram offers no home visits in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and this page states it near the top rather than leaving it to be discovered, because two providers ranking for UAE searches route parents to an Indian phone number without disclosing that delivery is remote.

Where it falls short is specific. A student who will not begin work without an adult physically present does better with one. A weak connection shortens the hour whatever the invoice says. A shared study space, more common in the apartment blocks here than in the villas, undermines the lesson because the tutor cannot manage the room. If one of those applies, hire locally and ask two questions first: does the tutor hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, and have they taught that subject at that level to IB criteria?

07

Honesty, permits and the claims to set aside

  • MoHRE private tuition work permit, granted free of charge for two years
  • Never engage your child's own class teacher for paid tuition
  • Criteria explanation and draft marking are legitimate; writing is not
  • No regulator approval claimed, because we hold none
  • No promised grades, no self-asserted ratings, no unsourced statistics

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a permit, and families hiring directly should ask about it. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through MoHRE, and the UAE government states it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Tutoring without one carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws, with no published schedule.

Never arrange paid tuition with your child's own class teacher. The permit carries a code of conduct, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff are reported as barring paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. Dubai sits under KHDA rather than ADEK, and the principle holds.

On coursework, the boundary is firm regardless of how close a deadline is. A tutor may teach content, explain each criterion and its mark ceiling, help narrow a research question, discuss method and sources, explain referencing and mark a draft against the descriptors. A tutor may not write, rewrite or complete any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay, supply a question, or produce data. Services in this market sell completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750, and submitting bought work risks the Diploma itself.

What we do not claim: IB Gram is not KHDA approved, a KHDA Educational Services Permit being issued to training institutes with physical premises that we neither hold nor occupy. We claim no ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge accreditation or partnership, do not describe tutors as IB examiners, publish no self-asserted ratings, promise no grade or points outcome, and quote no statistic without its source and date.

08

Starting, with the term as the first question

Send three things: which term your child is in, the subject and level, and whichever document is the live pressure - a marked script, a draft internal component, or an Extended Essay question that is not yet narrow enough. The term tells us what is possible. The document tells us what is wrong.

The first session is diagnostic rather than introductory, and it ends in one of three honest statements: habit marks recoverable in the weeks available, content gaps needing more time than remains, or both at once with a decision to make about what gets sacrificed. The third is the answer families least want and most need, and it is better delivered in the first session than in the final term.

Matching runs on subject and level. Standard Level subjects and both mathematics courses usually match within a day. Higher Level sciences, Arabic B and less common language B courses take two or three days, because the pool is narrow and a near-miss in front of a Higher Level draft is worse than a short wait. Extended Essay support is matched to the essay's subject rather than to a general essay tutor.

The trial lesson is free, taught by the matched specialist, and built on the document you sent. It finishes with a written note that is yours whether or not you continue. When nobody suitable has a slot at your hour, we say so and offer a different weekday, a shorter block, or an honest recommendation to look locally. No competitor in this market publishes its unavailable case, and a family planning a final term deserves to know it in advance.

Where we tutor

Green Community and the streets around it

These communities share the school catchment. For an online lesson they are interchangeable; for an in-home booking they are not, and the difference is the drive.

Green Community

Low-rise villas, townhouses and apartments on landscaped lanes with a small retail centre, several schools nearby and an unusually short school run for Dubai.

Dubai Investments Park

The larger district Green Community sits inside, holding most of the catchment's school capacity including its IB continuum provision.

The Sustainable City

A planned low-energy community with its own IB school, close enough that some families here choose it for the Diploma years specifically.

Jebel Ali

The industrial district to the west around the port and free zone, with older school sites and heavy evening traffic on the port roads.

Al Furjan

Metro-connected villas and townhouses to the north, with the best in-home tutoring supply in this cluster and its own school set.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartments with very mixed home languages, where shared quiet space becomes a scheduling constraint in its own right.

Dubai South

Large and new around the Expo site and Al Maktoum airport, with distances that make an early evening in-home session unrealistic.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas deep inside Dubai South, 20 to 30 minutes from most schools in the catchment.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Green Community

IB provision serving Green Community

Diploma provision here is concentrated in a few schools, two running the full continuum. Cohorts are small, which concentrates a year group's experience of a subject on one or two teachers and leaves almost no local tutoring market built around IB criteria.

  • Greenfield International School, Dubai Investments Park
  • Fairgreen International School, The Sustainable City
  • Sunmarke School, Al Furjan

The surrounding school set

Most children in and around Green Community attend schools on other curricula, so a Diploma family here often has no neighbours sitting the same assessments at the same time of year.

  • Nibras International School
  • The International School of Choueifat Dubai
  • Dove Green Private School
  • The Winchester School, Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • The Arbor School, Al Furjan

Schools are named only to describe the local education context. IB Gram asserts no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or client relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say which term you are in

First year or second, before or after the mocks, and what the next school deadline is. The term determines what tutoring can achieve and what we should decline to promise, and it is a more useful opening than naming a topic.

  2. 02

    Send the live document

A marked script, a draft internal component, or an Extended Essay question still too broad to answer in 4,000 words. The document makes the first session diagnostic rather than a conversation about how the term has felt.

  3. 03

Specialist matched by subject and level

Standard Level and both mathematics courses usually within a day; Higher Level sciences and language B in two or three. Extended Essay support is matched to the essay's subject rather than to a general essay tutor.

  4. 04

    Free diagnostic trial lesson online

A real one-to-one lesson with the matched specialist on the document you sent, finishing with a written note of what it showed and what the remaining weeks should target. No card details and nothing to commit to.

  5. 05

A plan re-cut at each calendar edge

The same tutor at the same Gulf Standard Time hour weekly, with the plan rewritten at the internal deadlines, after the mocks, around Ramadan and again for the final stretch of timed papers.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The term is the first question, not the topic

The same weakness needs different work in the first year, the collision term and the final stretch. Starting new content in the last term is the most reliable way to leave a grade exactly where the mocks put it.

The collision term planned rather than survived

Internal deadlines, the Extended Essay and mocks land together in most schools here, and the Extended Essay is what gets sacrificed because nobody is waiting for it day to day. Sequencing it takes one session.

Mock scripts read instead of mock grades

A grade is a summary; the script is the evidence, and it usually shows two or three habits repeating across questions. Families who choose a subject by grade rather than by script often spend the last weeks in the wrong place.

Ramadan in the plan from the start

School hours shorten and the usual slot becomes unusable for a month that currently falls in the spring term. Protecting frequency over length holds quantitative fluency that a pause would cost.

Supply, not search skill, is the local problem

The IB is 7% of Dubai private enrolment and this catchment is not where it concentrates. A radius search returns general tutors readily and criteria-literate Diploma specialists rarely.

Figures and rules cited, never asserted

AED bands are attributed to their publishers with the month read, regulatory points come from u.ae, MoHRE and KHDA, and IB dates are not published here because they cannot be confirmed from the IB.

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Green Community: your questions answered

Are there Diploma tutors actually based in Green Community?+

A few general tutors live locally, and criteria-literate Diploma specialists are rare here. KHDA reported the International Baccalaureate at 7% of Dubai private enrolment across 227 schools and 17 curricula, and this catchment is not where that minority concentrates, so the surrounding tutoring market grew up around UK and Indian curricula instead. A radius search from Dubai Investments Park returns general tutors and IGCSE specialists in reasonable numbers and Internal Assessment readers rarely. That is a supply fact rather than a failure of searching.

Which Diploma term should we start tutoring in?+

The first year, if there is any choice, because that is where habits are cheap to build and where the Extended Essay question and internal assessment designs can be settled without competing with anything. The most common starting point is just after the mocks in the second year, which is workable for habit repair and timed practice and poor for unmet content. The honest first session says which of those two you are dealing with, and that answer determines what the remaining weeks can realistically achieve.

What is the collision term and why does it matter so much?+

In most schools serving this catchment, the first term of the second Diploma year carries internal assessment deadlines for several subjects, the Extended Essay deadline, Theory of Knowledge work and the mock papers, all within a few weeks. The thing that gets sacrificed is predictable: whatever has no immediate audience, which is almost always the Extended Essay. That is why Extended Essay marks here sit below subject marks so often. Sequencing the term takes one session with a calendar, and the student should do the mapping.

How should we use my child's IB mock results?+

Ignore the grades for the first hour and read the scripts. A mock script usually shows two or three habits repeating across several questions: method lines not written, command terms answered at one depth, multi-part questions abandoned, units omitted. Those move in weeks. It also often shows that the subject with the lowest grade is not the one with the most recoverable marks, which is how families end up spending their last weeks in the wrong subject. A mock mark is not a prediction; boundaries move between sessions.

Can lessons shift to post-iftar timing during Ramadan?+

Yes, and we plan for it rather than reacting. School hours shorten during Ramadan and households reorganise their evening around iftar, so the usual late-afternoon slot generally becomes early afternoon or post-iftar for the month. The advice we give is to protect frequency over length, because quantitative fluency decays fastest when sessions stop and a complete pause usually means relearning in the first week back. Because nobody is travelling to your address, the change is a shared-diary adjustment rather than a renegotiation of someone's commute.

What should happen in the final weeks before the May session?+

Timed papers and marking, and nothing new. The student sits full papers under real conditions, including Paper 3 where Higher Level requires it, and someone who is not the student marks them against the official scheme. The output is a ranked list of repeated habits, which the next session attacks rather than moving on to a fresh paper. New content in this window displaces the practice that converts existing knowledge into marks, which is why a late content push so reliably leaves the result unchanged.

When should the Extended Essay question be settled for a Green Community student?+

Subject chosen in the second half of the first Diploma year, question narrowed before the long summer break. The limit is 4,000 words, and the commonest cause of a disappointing core grade is a question that would need a book, producing a survey rather than an investigation. The school sets the internal deadlines and they land earlier than families expect because the supervisor and school both need time. The summer break is the natural research window precisely because nothing else is competing for it.

Does the winter break help or hurt a second-year Diploma student?+

It hurts unless something is set for it, because it falls inside the collision term. A fortnight with no school structure, arriving in the middle of internal deadlines and mock preparation, usually produces two weeks of nothing followed by a worse January. The fix is modest: agree one deliverable for the break - a complete Extended Essay draft, or one internal component finished to criteria - rather than a vague intention to catch up. One session before the break to set it is normally enough.

How long does it take to match a Higher Level specialist for this community?+

Standard Level subjects and both mathematics courses usually match within a day. Higher Level sciences, Arabic B and less common language B courses take two or three days, because the specialist pool is genuinely narrow and we will not put a near-miss in front of a Higher Level draft. We state the expected wait at the enquiry rather than afterwards. If nobody suitable has a slot at the hour you want, we say so and offer a different weekday, a shorter block, or a recommendation to look locally.

Is it worth paying in-home rates for a Diploma subject in Dubai Investments Park?+

Look at what the premium buys. Dubai rate guidance puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 per hour with independent tutors to AED 500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor and AED 200-450 and above for specialists. Those bands overlap almost entirely, which means a family can pay specialist money for a generalist with the premium covering a journey. Where the local Diploma supply is as thin as it is here, that is the default outcome of a radius search rather than a remote risk.

Does IB Gram publish the IB examination dates?+

No, and the reason is worth stating. IB session and results dates cannot be confirmed from the IB by automated means, so this page names the May session as the one almost all UAE schools enter candidates for and goes no further. Cambridge and Pearson dates are published and we cite those where they are relevant. The dates that actually drive a term plan are internal anyway - the internal assessment deadlines, the Extended Essay deadline, the mock window - and the school's Diploma coordinator holds all three.

My child is in MYP 5 and starts the Diploma next year. What should we do with the summer?+

Close the transition gap, which is narrow and specific. The Middle Years Programme builds inquiry, independent work and reflective writing well, and does not require timed writing, formal mathematical notation at speed or recall at volume. The Diploma assumes all three from the first week. A summer of weekly timed writing, daily algebraic manipulation by hand and deliberate retrieval practice removes most of the first-term shock. It is far cheaper than discovering the gap in the second term of the first Diploma year.

Should we pause tutoring during the mock weeks themselves?+

Reduce rather than pause, and change what the sessions do. During mock weeks the school timetable is disrupted and the student's time is already committed, so a weekly session should become technique only: one paper type, one habit, no new content. Cramming content in mock week defeats the purpose of mocks, which is to generate honest diagnostic data about where marks are leaking. A mock sat on the back of a content push produces a flattering score and a useless script, which is the worst of both outcomes.

What does the free trial lesson produce for a Diploma family here?+

A written diagnosis that is yours whether or not you continue. The matched specialist, not a salesperson, teaches a real one-to-one lesson online on the document you sent - a marked script, a draft internal component, or an Extended Essay question - and finishes by writing down what it showed and what the weeks remaining in your child's term can realistically achieve. No card details are required to book it and there is no package to agree beforehand.

Tell us the term before you tell us the topic

If you have been searching for an IB tutor near me in Green Community, the search is answering a distance question when the Diploma is a timing problem. Send which term your child is in, the subject and level, and whichever document is the live pressure: a marked script, a draft internal component, or an Extended Essay question that is still too broad. A specialist reads it and teaches a free one-to-one trial lesson online at a Gulf Standard Time hour that fits the short school run here, finishing with a written statement of what the remaining weeks can actually achieve.
