IGCSE Tutor near me in Dubai Silicon Oasis

People searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Dubai Silicon Oasis are optimising the wrong variable. Distance barely affects the outcome; the term you start in affects almost all of it. A gap fixed in Year 10 costs a fraction of the same gap fixed in the spring of Year 11, and some gaps cannot be fixed late at any price. This page maps both years term by term, then delivers the lessons as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Silicon Oasis

When you start matters more than where the tutor lives

Two families in Silicon Oasis hire the same tutor for the same subject at the same rate. One starts in September of Year 10, the other in March of Year 11. The first spends less in total and ends with a better grade, and the reason has nothing to do with the tutor. Algebraic fluency, precision in written explanation and close reading all take months of repetition, and March does not contain months. September of Year 10 contains eighteen of them.

That is why a search built around proximity solves the wrong problem. A tutor five minutes away who starts in March is worse than one on a video link who starts in September, by a margin that is not close. Distance affects convenience and the reliability of a start time. Timing affects which gaps can be addressed at all, which is a difference of category rather than degree.

There is also a supply argument that cuts the same way. Dubai Silicon Oasis is well served at the budget end of the tutoring market, partly because Academic City's university campuses sit next door, and thinly served for specific board and tier combinations. The published budget band in this emirate runs AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik, which is genuinely useful for content revision and genuinely unsuited to Extended-tier structural work.

So the honest version of the near-me question is this. Can you find somebody nearby? Almost certainly, for one subject at a reasonable level. Will proximity be the thing that determines the grade? No. The term you begin in, the board and tier you are matched to, and whether anybody has read a marked paper before buying hours will determine it, and all three are independent of where the tutor sleeps.

IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai; home visits are a service we offer only in India. Across Silicon Oasis, Cedre Villas, Academic City and the surrounding communities, lessons are live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time. The practical consequence for a two-year plan is scheduling durability: the same slot can hold through a term, move for a mock week in a single message, and survive a family trip without being lost.

What follows is both years laid out term by term, with what each block can realistically achieve, what the summer between them is worth, how sixth-form applications overlay the autumn of Year 11, and what to do in the ten days after results. Use it to decide when to spend, which is the decision that actually moves the outcome.

None of this makes a nearby tutor a bad choice. For a Year 10 student who will not engage over a screen, somebody in the room is worth the travel premium and the narrower selection that comes with it. The argument is only about which variable to optimise first. Decide the term and the board, then decide the delivery, rather than the other way round, because reversing that order is how families end up with a convenient arrangement aimed at something the calendar will not allow.

At a glance

  • A gap fixed in Year 10 costs a fraction of the same gap fixed in spring of Year 11
  • Some gaps cannot be closed late at any rate, and a good plan says which
  • Silicon Oasis is well supplied at the budget band and thin for specific board and tier matches
  • Proximity affects convenience; timing affects what is possible
  • The summer between Year 10 and Year 11 is the cheapest and least used window
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The IGCSE years sit inside a longer sequence, and the best block to spend in is sometimes outside them. These are the stages that actually matter for timing.

KS3Ages 11-14

Key Stage 3, Years 7 to 9

No external examinations and therefore no deadline competing for attention, which makes this the only part of the sequence with unlimited runway. Indices, fractions, negative numbers, formula rearrangement, scientific vocabulary and the structure of an extended written answer are all established here or met again later under pressure.

The arithmetic is stark. A term of budget-band work in Year 9 aimed at one named weakness costs a small fraction of the exam-year specialist band, which Bestimate puts at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above per month for one weekly hour. Nobody markets Year 9 tuition, because there is no deadline to point at.

IGCSEAges 14-16

International GCSE, Years 10 and 11

Two years to externally marked papers in a June or November series. Cambridge splits many syllabuses into Core and Extended routes with a grade ceiling attached to the lower one; Pearson sets Foundation and Higher tiers in mathematics. The tier decision is made during Year 10 on the basis of classwork.

The load inside these two years is badly distributed by most families. Year 10 has runway and no urgency, so nothing is bought. Year 11 has urgency and no runway, so everything is bought at once. Reversing that distribution is the single biggest improvement available in this corridor and it does not require spending more.

POST-16Ages 16-19

A Level, IB Diploma or BTEC

Sixth-form courses set subject-specific IGCSE grade requirements, particularly in mathematics and the sciences. Applications are generally made during Year 11 on the basis of predicted grades, which means the autumn term carries a decision overlay that has nothing to do with the papers themselves.

Because predicted grades drive those applications, the autumn of Year 11 is quietly the most consequential term in the two years. A student whose autumn performance improves gets a better prediction and therefore a better set of options, regardless of what happens in June. Almost no family plans tuition around that fact.

Equivalency and mandatory UAE subjects

Ministry of Education equivalency for the British track requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies occupy timetable space in every Dubai private school regardless of curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. That is school-day time unavailable for IGCSE content, which is worth factoring in when judging what a term can cover.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

This grid is sorted by how early each subject needs to be addressed, because that is the timing question. Subjects at the top of the list cannot be rescued late; those at the bottom genuinely respond to a short block in the final term.

English Literature

Cambridge 0475 and 0992 · Pearson 4ET1

The slowest subject in the set to move. Quotation selection and close analysis need repeated marked practice across months, so this is the first subject to address in Year 10 and the worst one to leave until spring of Year 11.

Mathematics, algebraic fluency

Cambridge 0580 · Pearson 4MA1

Expanding, factorising, simplifying and rearranging appear in every paper and underpin physics and chemistry calculations too. Built by repetition rather than explanation, which means two terms rather than a block, and it cannot be acquired between March and June.

Biology, written precision

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Naming the structure, the process and the consequence is a habit, not a fact, and biology mark schemes award nothing for general sense. Months of marked practice rather than weeks, so Year 10 is the right place for it.

Physics, extended written answers

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Six-mark questions want a causal chain that names a mechanism. Students write three restatements of the first sentence instead, which earns one mark. A habit that forms over a term or two, so addressing it in Year 11 spring is already late.

English Language, directed writing

Cambridge 0500 and 0990 · Pearson 4EA1

Answering the specified audience and form is a readable rule, so this half of the paper responds inside six to eight weeks. Reading-response depth takes longer, which means a late plan will lift one half of the subject and not the other.

Mathematics, procedural topics

All tiers

Reverse percentages, similar shapes with area and volume scale factors, cumulative frequency, circle theorems. Finite sets of steps that close in two or three sessions at any point in the year, which makes them the right late purchase.

Chemistry, calculations and analysis tables

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles calculations and the Cambridge qualitative analysis tables are learnable procedures rather than habits, so chemistry tolerates a late start better than physics or biology do. Four to six focused sessions produce visible movement.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge 0455 and 0450

Among the fastest to respond. Data-response technique and stating an explicit judgement in evaluation questions are both teachable rules, so a short block in the final term is a defensible purchase in these subjects.

Computer Science theory

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

Finite content with repeating question styles, so structured revision inside eight weeks works for most students. Practical coding confidence takes longer and belongs in Year 10, which is a distinction worth making before booking.

Command words and exam technique

All subjects, all tiers

State, describe, explain, suggest, calculate and compare demand different amounts, and answering the wrong amount costs marks or time. One session with a past paper improves every subject at once, and it works at any point in the two years.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes matched to three points in the two years. All run as live one-to-one or small-group video lessons on Gulf Standard Time, so the slot survives a mock week or a family trip.

Year 10 fluency plan

Weekly across one or two terms of Year 10, aimed at the capability underneath the subject rather than at the current unit. This is the only block in the two years long enough to build algebraic fluency or precision of written explanation, and it is the block almost nobody buys because nothing is failing yet.

  • Aimed at capability rather than at this week's homework
  • Homework set and marked between sessions as standard
  • Feeds the tier decision, which is also made in Year 10
  • Lower band than the exam-year market, for a longer-lasting result

Summer bridge, Year 10 to Year 11

Four to six sessions across the summer holiday, aimed at the weakness Year 10 exposed. No school, no homework, no competing deadline, and the lowest demand of the year in the after-school window. The student arrives in September with the problem already shrinking rather than waiting to be discovered.

  • Longer sessions, because no school day competes
  • One named weakness rather than general revision
  • Cheapest window in the year to book
  • Changes what the Year 11 autumn block can be used for

Year 11 technique block

Six to ten weeks of marked timed papers, command words, working conventions and question selection, placed either before the mock window or before the series. Technique moves faster than knowledge, so this earns its cost, as long as it is not asked to build something structural.

  • Full papers under timing, then marked and reworked
  • One subject per session with a measurable output
  • Fixed end date, so the budget has a visible ceiling
  • Explicit about what cannot be reached in the weeks left

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Silicon Oasis

01

Year 10, term by term

Year 10 is the year with everything to gain and no pressure to act, which is why it passes unused in most households. Autumn term is when the new content starts and when a Key Stage 3 gap becomes visible for the first time against real IGCSE demands. This is the moment to find out whether the student can rearrange a formula, add algebraic fractions and write a four-sentence causal explanation, because all three will be assumed from here on.

Spring term of Year 10 is when the tier decision begins to form. Schools set Core or Extended entries on Cambridge syllabuses, and Foundation or Higher in Pearson mathematics, on the basis of classwork and internal assessment. If there is any ambition towards a sixth-form course with a specific grade requirement, this is the term in which a diagnostic assessment has leverage, because the entry can still be discussed with the school.

Summer term of Year 10 carries end-of-year examinations at most schools, and those papers are the second-best diagnostic in the two years after the Year 11 mocks. They are marked, they are free, and almost nobody reads them properly. Sorting the lost marks by cause at that point sets up the summer and the whole of Year 11, and it takes an hour.

The spend in Year 10 should be modest and specific. One named weakness, addressed weekly for a term, at the qualified band rather than the specialist band. That is a far smaller commitment than the exam-year equivalent, which Bestimate puts at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above per month for one weekly hour, and it addresses the thing that would otherwise consume the spring of Year 11 without resolving.

Year 11, term by term

Year 11 autumn is the term families underestimate most, because it is the term in which predicted grades are formed. Sixth-form and foundation applications are generally made on predictions, so a student whose autumn performance improves gets a better set of options regardless of what June eventually produces. That is a concrete consequence available in October and almost nobody buys tuition for it.

The mock window, at many schools in late autumn or early in the spring term, is the hinge of the whole year. Mocks are marked by the school at no cost and contain more usable information than any paid assessment. The grade is the least useful part; the distribution of lost marks by cause is the plan for the rest of the year, and reading it properly takes under an hour and no subject expertise.

Spring term is technique. Marked timed papers, command words, working conventions, question selection, and the finite procedural topics that are still closable. This is where the market sells most heavily and where it also over-promises, because a plan that quietly includes building algebraic fluency from scratch cannot succeed and the family will conclude that tutoring does not work.

The final six to eight weeks should taper rather than intensify. Heavier early, lighter late, and the last week on an error tally rather than new material. A student revising at maximum intensity into the papers arrives depleted, and the marginal topic learned in that fortnight is worth less than the alertness it costs. That is unglamorous advice and it is consistently the difference between a predicted grade met and missed.

03

The summer between, which is the cheapest window

Between the end of Year 10 and the start of Year 11 sits the longest break in the two years, with no school, no homework and no deadline. It is the only block where longer sessions are possible without competing against a school day, and it is also the period of lowest demand in the after-school window across the whole UAE, which makes it the easiest time to secure a good tutor at a good hour.

What it is for is the one weakness Year 10 exposed. Not general revision, not getting ahead on next year's content, and not a broad programme across three subjects. One named thing, four to six sessions, with marked practice between them. A student who arrives in September with formula rearrangement already automatic has changed what the Year 11 autumn block can be used for, which is the whole point.

The second thing it is for is reading the Year 10 end-of-year papers properly. Those papers are marked, free, and almost always filed unread. Sorting the lost marks into causes before the summer sessions begin means the sessions are aimed rather than general, and it also tells you whether the problem is content, technique, or capability, which determines whether four sessions is the right number or four months is.

The reason almost nobody uses this window is psychological rather than financial. In July nothing is failing, there is no report in the house, and the examinations are eleven months away. By the time urgency arrives the window has closed and the same work costs more and achieves less. Writing it down in a page like this one is the only intervention available, since no provider has an incentive to market a quiet July.

Predicted grades, and why autumn of Year 11 is the hinge

  • Predicted grades are formed in the autumn of Year 11 and drive sixth-form applications
  • Technique moves quickly and feeds the internal marks the prediction is built from
  • Ask the school when predictions are issued and plan backwards from that date
  • A low prediction later outperformed in June is far better prevented than remedied

Sixth-form places, whether A Level, IB Diploma or BTEC, are generally offered on predicted grades during Year 11. Those predictions are formed from classwork, internal assessments and the mock papers, which means they are largely settled before the spring term even begins. A family focused entirely on June is optimising for the wrong date, because the doors open or close on the prediction months earlier.

This produces a specific and under-exploited opportunity. A student who improves measurably in the autumn of Year 11 gets a better prediction, a better set of offers and more room to negotiate, and the improvement needed is often technique rather than knowledge. Command-word reading, working layout and timing all move quickly, and they move the internal assessment marks that feed the prediction.

It also produces a risk worth naming. A student whose autumn is weak receives a low prediction, applies accordingly, and then outperforms it in June with no obvious route back to the course they wanted. Schools and colleges handle that case with varying flexibility, and the honest position is that it is far better prevented than remedied. Ask your school when predictions are issued, and work backwards from that date.

The practical plan is simple. Treat the autumn of Year 11 as a term with a deadline at its end, because it has one even though nobody calls it that. Buy technique work in September and October rather than in March, and aim it at whatever the Year 10 end-of-year papers identified. The cost is identical and the consequence is larger, which is as close to free as tuition planning gets.

05

Results day and the ten days after it

Pearson's June 2026 International GCSE results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026. Decisions that follow results have short deadlines: a remark has to be requested quickly, a November entry has to be made, and a sixth-form place may need confirming or renegotiating. Families who have not thought about any of this in advance make expensive decisions in a fortnight that includes travel and school closures.

The useful preparation is a decision tree written in advance. What grade in each subject would be acceptable. What grade would trigger a remark request, which is appropriate when a mark sits close to a boundary and the school agrees. What grade would trigger a November entry. And what the fallback sixth-form option is, with the requirement for it written down rather than remembered.

The November route is genuinely workable and deserves to be framed as a route rather than a failure. Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which is early enough for most sixth-form and foundation conversations, and the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Entry fees are set by the examination centre rather than by a tutor, so the reserve has to exist before the whole budget goes into term-time lessons.

Preparation for a November entry is a focused eight to ten week block rather than a repeat of the year. The content has already been met, so the work is the specific topics that failed, the technique that cost marks, and a different approach to timing. That is a narrower and cheaper piece of work than Year 11 was, provided the diagnosis from the June paper is done honestly rather than hopefully.

What a nearby tutor can and cannot do

  • A nearby tutor genuinely helps a student who will not engage over a screen
  • In-home tuition limits the pool to whoever will drive inside the usable window
  • Published bands: in-home AED 180-500 with travel included; qualified online AED 150-300
  • Drop the distance filter when board, tier or slot durability is the binding constraint

Having answered the timing question, the proximity question deserves a fair answer rather than a dismissal. A tutor who lives nearby offers two real advantages: a physical presence, which changes behaviour for some younger students, and a device that cannot be scrolled under the table. For a Year 10 student who will not engage over a screen, those are not small things and they are worth paying the travel premium for.

What a nearby tutor cannot offer is a choice. In-home tuition requires somebody willing to drive to your address inside the narrow usable window, which means the pool is defined by geography rather than by board and tier. Along this corridor, where journeys run twenty-five to forty minutes in the late afternoon, that pool is small for Extended-tier combinations and smaller again for a specific Pearson code.

The market prices the difference openly. In-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table and AED 200 to 500 by independent home tutors, with travel inside the figure, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor and from AED 150 for IGCSE at Unitors. Monthly packages run about AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

So the fair conclusion is this. If your constraint is a student who needs someone in the room, hire nearby and accept the narrower choice and the later start. If your constraint is matching a specific board and tier, or holding a durable slot across two years, the distance filter is the one to drop. Neither answer is universal, and a provider telling you otherwise is describing its own business model rather than your situation.

07

Confirm the board and tier before any of this applies

  • Cambridge: 0580, 0620, 0625, Core and Extended, June and November, zone timetables
  • Pearson: 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1, Foundation and Higher in maths, May/June and November
  • The February and March Cambridge series is India-only and no Dubai candidate sits it
  • Ask subject by subject, in writing, in the first week of term

A timing plan built on the wrong examination is a well-sequenced waste. Ask the school in writing for the board and the syllabus code for each subject, plus the tier where Cambridge applies. Cambridge uses four-digit codes such as 0580 Mathematics, 0620 Chemistry and 0625 Physics with Core and Extended routes; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE uses forms like 4MA1, 4CH1 and 4PH1 with Foundation and Higher tiers in mathematics.

The differences change the plan rather than just the content. A Cambridge Core entry caps the grade available, which makes the Year 10 diagnostic a tier conversation rather than a revision one. A modular structure on some Pearson qualifications changes when a paper can be sat and how a resit works. And Cambridge's alternative-to-practical written paper on several science syllabuses changes what practical preparation should consist of.

The series matter too, and they are frequently misstated to UAE families. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series. The February and March series exists but is offered to India only, so no Dubai student sits it. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that using the wrong zone timetable is the centre's own risk.

Get all of this in the first week of September rather than in October. The autumn block is the one with runway, and three weeks of it spent discovering which board and tier the student is on is three weeks that cannot be recovered later. One message to the school, answered subject by subject, protects every hour that follows it.

08

Starting from Dubai Silicon Oasis, and what we will not pretend

  • Send the year and term, the codes and tiers, marked papers and the realistic hour
  • Free trial lesson, then a written note about what this block can close
  • No home visits in the UAE, no UAE office, no board or regulator approval claimed
  • Take exam dates from the exams officer or the board's live timetable, not from this page

Send four things: which year and term you are in, the syllabus codes and tiers, the last set of marked papers, and the hour your child is realistically at a desk. The marked papers matter most, because sorting the lost marks by cause costs nothing and determines whether you need four sessions or four months. We then match a tutor to the code and run a free trial lesson as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, at no cost.

Afterwards you receive a written note setting out which gaps are closable in the block you are in and which needed an earlier one. If you are in March of Year 11 with an algebraic fluency problem, the note will say that the remaining weeks cannot deliver it and will propose what they can deliver instead. That is a worse sales message than the alternative and it is the one that produces a result in June.

The limits. IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. There is no UAE office, centre or branch and we claim none. We hold no board or regulator approval, so nobody here is KHDA approved or Cambridge accredited. We do not supply syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes as downloads; we reference them and link to the official source.

And no dates presented as our own authority. Every Cambridge and Pearson date on this page is attributed and backward-looking, and forward-looking series are named by month only, because a series named by month stays true and one named by month and year is wrong a year later with nobody having touched the page. Take your actual dates from the school's exams officer or the board's live timetable.

Where we tutor

Silicon Oasis and the communities nearby

These notes describe what each community offers a two-year plan: how reliable the weekly slot can be, and what the local tutoring market is actually good for.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

Self-contained, with a large British-curriculum secondary school and several Indian-curriculum schools inside the community. Students attending locally are home early, which makes a durable weekly slot across two years realistic rather than aspirational.

Cedre Villas and Silicon Gardens

Villa and townhouse stock within Silicon Oasis, with short internal journeys. Scheduling stability is the advantage: the same slot holds for a term, which is exactly what a two-year fluency plan requires to work.

Dubai International Academic City

University district immediately south. The undergraduate population is why the AED 33 to 65 budget band exists in this emirate, and that band is the right purchase for the revision stage of a plan and the wrong one for Extended-tier structural work.

The Villa and Dubailand

Villa communities west of the corridor and more car-dependent, with longer internal journeys. Later arrival home pushes the weekly slot into the evening, which suits revision and consolidation rather than new content.

Nad Al Sheba

Two long-established schools on this stretch, so many students attend locally and are home early. Good conditions for Year 10 structural work, which needs an alert student rather than a tired evening hour.

Al Warqa and Al Rashidiya

Established housing between Silicon Oasis and Festival City with heavy dismissal traffic. Evening slots are the reliable ones, which works for a Year 11 technique plan and poorly for Year 10 fluency building.

International City

Dense and price-sensitive just north of the corridor. Well supplied at the budget end, which fits content revision, and thin for specific board and tier matches, which is what Extended-tier work needs.

Mirdif

Twenty-five to forty minutes north-east depending on the hour, with its own schools. Students attending in Mirdif are home earlier than those crossing the corridor, which again determines which half of the week is genuinely usable.

Subject by subject from the school, because many Dubai schools split boards. Cambridge 0580 Core, 0580 Extended, Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and 4MA1 Higher are four different jobs, and a Core entry caps the grade, which makes it a Year 10 conversation rather than a Year 11 one.

  3. 03

    Read the last marked papers

Sort every lost mark into causes: did not know it, ran out of time, misread the command word, or knew it and did not earn the marks. Count them. The largest cause decides the plan, and the exercise needs an hour and no subject knowledge.

  4. 04

Book the summer, not the spring

Four to six sessions between Year 10 and Year 11 on the one weakness Year 10 exposed, when nothing competes and tutor availability is at its highest. It changes what the Year 11 autumn block can be used for, which is where the compounding actually happens.

  5. 05

Write the results-day decision tree in advance

What grade is acceptable, what triggers a remark, what triggers a November entry, and what the fallback course is with its requirement written down. Hold an entry-fee reserve from the start. Decisions made in advance are calm; decisions made in late August are expensive.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Timing is treated as the main variable

A gap addressed in Year 10 costs a fraction of the same gap in spring of Year 11, and some gaps cannot be closed late at any rate. Most pages in this market optimise for proximity because proximity is what people type. Timing is what changes the grade.

An honest list of what closes late

Command words, timing, working layout and finite procedural topics all move in weeks. Algebraic fluency, biological precision and close literary analysis do not. Naming which side each of your gaps sits on is the difference between a plan that works and one that disappoints.

The autumn of Year 11 identified as the hinge

Predicted grades are formed then and sixth-form applications are made on them, so a measurable improvement in October changes the options available regardless of June. Almost no family buys tuition for that term, and the cost is identical to buying it in March.

The summer window written down

The longest break, the lowest demand, the only block where two-hour sessions do not compete with a school day. Nobody markets a quiet July because there is no urgency to sell, which is exactly why it appears on this page instead.

A fair answer on proximity

A nearby tutor genuinely helps a student who will not engage over a screen, and the in-home band is AED 180 to 500 with travel inside it. Where board, tier or slot durability is the binding constraint, distance is the filter to drop. Neither answer is universal.

Results day planned rather than survived

Pearson's June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026 and November 2025 results on 22 January 2026. Remark and entry deadlines follow closely, so the decision tree and the entry-fee reserve belong in place long before the envelope opens.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Silicon Oasis: your questions answered

Does it matter whether an IGCSE tutor is actually near Dubai Silicon Oasis?+

Far less than when you start. A tutor five minutes away who begins in March of Year 11 will achieve less than one on a video link who begins in September of Year 10, because algebraic fluency and precision in written explanation take months of repetition and March does not contain months. Proximity affects convenience and start-time reliability. Timing affects which gaps can be addressed at all, which is a difference of category rather than degree.

Which term should a Silicon Oasis family start IGCSE tuition in?+

Autumn of Year 10 for anything structural, because that is the only block with real runway and the tier decision is also forming then. Spring of Year 10 if the aim is to influence a Core or Extended entry, with a written diagnostic to take to the school. Autumn of Year 11 if the aim is a better predicted grade, which drives sixth-form applications. Spring of Year 11 for technique only, which is real but bounded.

What can we achieve in the summer between Year 10 and Year 11?+

Quite a lot, because nothing competes. It is the longest break in the two years, the only block where two-hour sessions do not follow a school day, and the period of lowest demand in the after-school window across the UAE. Four to six sessions aimed at the one weakness Year 10 exposed, with marked practice between them. A student who arrives in September with formula rearrangement already automatic has changed what the autumn can be used for.

Why is autumn of Year 11 more important than parents think?+

Because predicted grades are formed then, from classwork, internal assessments and mock papers, and sixth-form and foundation applications are generally made on those predictions. A student who improves measurably in October gets a better prediction and a better set of offers regardless of what June produces. Technique moves quickly and feeds exactly the internal marks a prediction is built from, so the opportunity is both real and cheap.

Which IGCSE subjects cannot be rescued in the spring of Year 11?+

English Literature first, because quotation selection and close analysis need repeated marked practice across months. Then anything resting on algebraic fluency, and the written precision that biology and physics mark schemes demand. By contrast, chemistry's moles calculations and qualitative analysis tables, economics data-response technique and computer science theory all respond reasonably to a short late block, so a spring start in those is defensible.

Do your tutors travel to homes in Cedre Villas or Academic City?+

No. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Across the market, in-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to 500 by independent home tutors with travel inside the figure, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online tutor. Our lessons are live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, which also makes a slot durable across two years rather than one term.

Is budget tutoring near Academic City worth using for IGCSE?+

For the right job, yes. The published budget band in this emirate runs AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik, sustained partly by the undergraduate population next door, and it is genuinely effective for content revision, homework supervision and repetitive marked practice. Pointed at Extended-tier structural work it tends to produce a term of reassurance and no grade movement, after which a specialist is hired anyway with less time left.

How do we use my child's Year 10 end-of-year papers?+

They are the second-best diagnostic in the two years and they are almost always filed unread. Sort every lost mark into causes: did not know it, ran out of time, misread the command word, or knew it and wrote an answer that did not earn the marks. Count them. The largest cause tells you what the summer sessions should be aimed at, and whether the problem is content, technique or capability, which determines the number of hours.

When do IGCSE results arrive, and what happens next?+

Pearson's June 2026 International GCSE results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, while November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. The decisions that follow have short deadlines: a remark request, a November entry, or confirming a sixth-form place. Write the decision tree in advance, agree with the school what grade would trigger each branch, and hold an entry-fee reserve from the start of the year.

Is a November IGCSE entry a sensible route from Dubai?+

Yes, and framing it as a failure causes real harm. It is simply the other series. Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, early enough for most sixth-form and foundation conversations, and the November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026. Preparation is a focused eight to ten week block rather than a repeat of the year, because the content has been met and the work is the specific topics and technique that failed.

Can the Core or Extended entry still be changed in Year 11?+

Sometimes very early in Year 11, and realistically the window is Year 10. The school makes the entry decision from classwork and internal assessment, and Core on Cambridge syllabuses does not reach the top grades. If a sixth-form course requires a grade above that ceiling, the conversation needs evidence rather than conviction: a written assessment showing the student handles Extended content once an earlier gap is secure is what schools respond to.

How do I find out which board my child's school enters?+

Ask in writing, subject by subject, because many Dubai schools split boards across subjects for staffing or historical reasons. Cambridge uses four-digit codes such as 0580, 0620 and 0625 with Core and Extended routes; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE uses forms like 4MA1, 4CH1 and 4PH1 with Foundation and Higher tiers in mathematics. Do it in the first week of September, because the autumn block is the one with runway and discovering this in October shortens it.

Does a tutor near Silicon Oasis need a MoHRE permit?+

Yes, and it is a reasonable question to ask directly. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years, covering registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no schedule of amounts is published.

Should a tutor help with IGCSE coursework or assignments?+

With teaching and feedback, yes; with producing the work, never. A tutor may explain what a task is assessing, work through a comparable example on a different topic, read what your child has written and say where it falls short, and teach referencing. A tutor may not write, complete or edit the piece to a finished state. Work submitted as a student's own that is not theirs is a malpractice matter and the consequence lands on your child.

What should the first month of a timing-led plan produce?+

A written statement of which gaps the block you are in can close and which needed an earlier one, which is the single most useful thing to hold and the thing nobody supplies. Plus the syllabus codes and tiers confirmed in writing, and one measurable technique change, usually in timing or in how much working is shown. No grade prediction, because nobody can honestly offer one.

Optimise the term, not the postcode

The near-me search is understandable and it answers the wrong question. Distance decides how convenient the lesson is; the term you begin in decides what the lesson can achieve. So tell us which year and term you are in, the syllabus codes and tiers, and send the last marked papers. Sorting those marks by cause costs nothing, the free trial lesson costs nothing, and the written note that follows will tell you plainly whether this block can close your child's gap or whether the honest answer is to aim at what it can.
