Cambridge IGCSE Home Tutor in the UAE

Parents across the UAE search for a Cambridge IGCSE home tutor and then discover that almost nobody will quote a number. This page publishes the numbers. Market bands in AED, the things that move them, which Cambridge syllabus codes carry a scarcity premium and why, and what a single paid hour should leave behind. IB Gram delivers this support as one-to-one tuition over live video rather than as a visit to a UAE address, and the comparison further down shows what that choice does to the price per taught minute.

  • One-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time slots after school
  • Every AED band on this page attributed to the source that published it
  • Syllabus code and tier read from your child's own statement of entry
  • Coursework taught and reviewed, never written for the candidate

IB & IGCSE in the UAE

What a Cambridge IGCSE hour costs a UAE family, and what sits inside the number

A Cambridge IGCSE home tutor in the UAE is priced between roughly AED 150 and AED 450 an hour, and the spread is the whole story. Two families in the same Dubai community, both wanting help with maths, can pay AED 160 and AED 400 for an hour that looks identical on a calendar invite. Neither has been cheated. They are buying different things, and almost no page in this search tells them which. Three of the six strongest pages ranking for this query publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, a currency no UAE family pays a tutor in.

The first thing inside the number is the syllabus code. Cambridge IGCSE is not one qualification; it is a catalogue of separately examined syllabuses, each with its own code, its own paper pattern and its own supply of people who have actually taught it. Mathematics 0580 is the easiest hour in this market to buy, because every agency in the UAE lists it and the teaching pool is deep. International Mathematics 0607, Computer Science 0478 and Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 sit at the other end, because far fewer tutors in the Emirates have marked a full set of those papers. Scarcity sets the rate long before anybody discusses your child.

The second thing inside the number is format. A visiting tutor's rate has to absorb the journey, and the journey does not teach anybody anything. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour while a qualified online tutor starts around AED 150, and independent home tutors in the Emirates advertise up to AED 500. The gap is not a quality signal. It is the Sheikh Zayed Road at five in the afternoon, converted into money.

The third thing is tier and timing, and both are decided by a school, not by a tutor. Core and Extended entry set the grade ceiling before a single hour is taught, and the entry itself locks months ahead of the paper: for the Cambridge March 2027 series, final entries are due 27 November 2026 and forecast grades on 27 February 2027. A family that starts funding tutoring after the forecast grade has gone in is buying from a shorter runway, which in practice means more hours a week for fewer weeks, at the top of the band rather than the middle.

The fourth thing is what nobody itemises: preparation, marking turnaround, a written record of each session, and whether a replacement exists if the tutor stops answering in April. An AED 60 hour with none of those around it is often the most expensive hour on this page, because the marks it was bought to recover are still missing in June. IB Gram's position on all of this is stated once and not repeated: lessons for UAE families run one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. Home visits are part of our India service only, and we do not send a tutor to a UAE address. What that buys you instead is a specialist for the exact code on the entry form, rather than whoever was willing to drive to your community before dinner.

At a glance

  • Market bands, October 2026: budget online AED 33-150, qualified online AED 150-300, visiting one-to-one AED 180-500, named specialist AED 200-450 and above
  • Cambridge publishes a June and a November series, with a March series carrying its own key dates
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years, so no premium is explained by licensing
  • Arabic and Islamic Education sit outside the five subjects the Ministry counts for British-track equivalency
  • Every centre is allocated to one of six Cambridge administrative zones, each with its own timetable version
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cambridge runs a continuous route from Lower Secondary through to International AS and A Level, and the money a UAE family spends on tutoring behaves very differently at each stage. The four blocks below are the ones that actually appear on UAE entry forms, with what each one costs you in attention rather than in fees.

CheckpointAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Cambridge Lower Secondary and Checkpoint

The stage before IGCSE, assessed through Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests, which Cambridge offers in March, May and October. Checkpoint does not carry an IGCSE grade and does not cover Extended-tier content. What it does carry is an externally marked read on arithmetic fluency, reading comprehension and written accuracy, two full years before any entry form is signed. It is the cheapest diagnostic a family will ever be handed, and most of them file it unread.

In the UAE this is the stage where tutoring is almost always over-bought. A weak Checkpoint strand does not justify a two-year weekly block; it justifies six to eight targeted hours on the named strand, then a re-test of the same question types. Families who act here pay the lower end of the market band, because there is no deadline pressure in the price.

CoreAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE, Core tier

The lower of the two entry tiers, covering the core subject content and carrying a capped grade ceiling. Core is the right entry for a candidate who needs a secure pass rather than a top grade, and for a subject that is not a prerequisite for anything the student plans next. It is also the tier that gets chosen quietly, in a school office, and then discovered by the parent much later.

Core entry changes the tutoring arithmetic for a UAE family in one specific way: it lowers the ceiling that paid hours can reach. Before funding a block, confirm with the school which tier the entry carries. For Ministry of Education equivalency, the reported British-track rule asks for five subjects at no less than E or grade 3, which a Core pass can satisfy where the grade band allows.

ExtendedAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE, Extended tier

The full-content entry, with the higher grade ceiling and the harder written papers. Extended is where almost all UAE tutoring money goes, because it is the tier that feeds Cambridge International AS and A Level and the IB Diploma. It is also where the mark loss is most diagnosable: extended-response questions, multi-step calculation, and the command term the candidate answered instead of the one printed.

Extended work is the reason the specialist band exists in this market. An Extended Physics 0625 or Chemistry 0620 candidate aiming above grade 6 needs somebody who has marked those papers, and that is a far smaller pool in the Emirates than the one advertising general science help. Expect to pay the AED 200 to 450 band, and expect the hour to be worth more than two at the bottom band.

AS/AAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level

The two-year route most UAE Cambridge schools run after IGCSE, and the reason an IGCSE tutoring decision is rarely a one-year decision. AS and A Level content assumes the Extended-tier IGCSE foundation, so a gap closed cheaply in Year 11 is a gap that does not have to be closed expensively in Year 12. The Ministry's reported British-track equivalency route also asks for one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary.

Families in the UAE routinely fund IGCSE tutoring, stop at results day, and then fund a bridging block in October of Year 12. Reading the two years as one budget usually costs less in total. If your child is heading for AS Mathematics, the Extended maths work in Year 11 is the cheapest insurance available against a Year 12 catch-up block.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

The list below is by Cambridge syllabus code, because the code is what decides who can teach the hour and what that hour costs in this market. Confirm your child's codes from the statement of entry rather than from the school website, and confirm the current component pattern for your series on cambridgeinternational.org.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580)

Core and Extended

The deepest tutor pool in the UAE and the lowest reliable price. Written papers split across a non-calculator and a calculator assessment, so confirm the current pattern for your series. Marks go missing in multi-step algebra, in rounding before the final line, and in questions that ask the candidate to show a method they have only ever done mentally.

Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics (0607)

Core and Extended

A different syllabus, not a variant of 0580. A graphic display calculator is expected throughout, and the assessment leans on investigation, modelling and written reasoning. A 0580 tutor is not automatically a 0607 tutor, which is why this code sits at the specialist band almost everywhere in the Emirates.

Cambridge IGCSE Physics (0625)

Core and Extended

Theory papers plus a practical component, sat either as the practical test or as the alternative to practical paper. Electricity and the mechanics of moments are where UAE candidates lose most, usually because a formula was recalled correctly and the units were not. Tutors who have marked the practical-route paper are scarcer than those who have taught the theory.

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry (0620)

Core and Extended

Electrolysis, moles and organic reaction pathways account for a disproportionate share of lost Extended marks. The six-mark extended-response question is the single most coachable item on the paper and the one most often answered as a list of facts rather than as a linked explanation. Specialist rates apply above grade 6 work.

Cambridge IGCSE Biology (0610)

Core and Extended

A deeper teaching pool than Physics or Chemistry in the UAE, so rates sit lower, around AED 180 to 350. The gap is almost never content. It is extended-response technique: naming a process is one mark, explaining the mechanism in sequence is four, and candidates who revise by recall alone keep collecting the one.

Cambridge IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences (0654)

Double Award

One entry covering biology, chemistry and physics content, awarded as a double grade. The thinnest supply on this list, because it needs a tutor comfortable across three disciplines rather than specialist in one. Families often pay three single-subject tutors instead, which is both dearer and harder to timetable.

Cambridge IGCSE English as a First Language (0500)

Untiered

Reading response and directed writing, assessed by mark bands rather than by right answers. The deepest pool and the most price-competitive hour in the UAE, with real options at AED 150. Marks are lost to unanchored commentary, to a register that ignores the stated audience, and to a composition that never answers the task set.

Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language (0510 and 0511)

Core and Extended

A different assessment from 0500, with a speaking component in the 0511 variant. A large share of UAE candidates sit this rather than First Language, and schools do move students between the two. Confirm which code is on the entry, because the preparation is not transferable and a mis-matched tutor wastes paid hours.

Cambridge IGCSE Economics (0455)

Core and Extended

Multiple choice plus structured questions, where the diagram carries marks that prose cannot recover. Candidates in the Emirates lose most on evaluation: a question asking whether a policy should be used is answered with what the policy is. Supply is reasonable in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, thinner in the Northern Emirates.

Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science (0478)

Untiered

Computer systems theory alongside algorithms, programming and logic. The narrowest supply of any code on this page in the UAE, because pseudocode marking and trace tables are specialist skills rather than general IT knowledge. Expect the AED 220 to 450 band, and expect a general IT tutor to be poor value here at any price.

Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies (0450)

Untiered

Case-study assessment where the marks sit in application to the named business rather than in the definition. Strong supply across Dubai and reasonable pricing. The common failure is a textbook answer that never mentions the company in the stem, which costs application and evaluation marks on every question it touches.

Cambridge IGCSE Geography (0460) and History (0470)

Untiered

Both reward structure over volume: a case study deployed precisely beats three recalled in outline. History source questions are marked on use of provenance, which almost no candidate is taught explicitly. These are the codes families cut first when triaging a nine-subject budget, and often the right cut.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Three Ministry-mandated subjects run alongside the Cambridge timetable in every UAE private school, whatever curriculum the school is licensed for. They are already inside the fee you pay, and they are the part of the week most tutoring plans ignore until a report card arrives.

Arabic as a first language

Arab students, all year groups

Mandatory in Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum. KHDA requires Standard Arabic as the language of instruction and separate classes for Arab and non-Arab groups, with combined classes strictly prohibited. The grade does not count towards the Ministry's five-subject British-track equivalency total.

Arabic as an additional language

Non-Arab students

The non-Arab stream, taught separately under KHDA's class-organisation rule. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and schools may vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met, with at least 25 minutes advised for any mandatory-subject lesson.

Islamic Education

Arab and non-Arab streams

Taught in Standard Arabic for Arab students and in the school's licensed-curriculum language for non-Arabs. KHDA requires that all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the appropriate KHDA approval to teach these subjects, which is a credential a parent can ask the school about directly.

Social Studies and Moral, Social and Cultural studies

All students

Arabic is the primary language of instruction for Social Studies for Arab students. For the mandatory UAE subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry is strictly prohibited, which limits what any outside tutor may legitimately supply.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three delivery patterns cover almost every Cambridge IGCSE family we work with in the Emirates, and the right one is usually decided by how many weeks remain before the series rather than by preference. All three run one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

Weekly one-to-one, built from Year 10

One hour a week on one or two codes, started in Year 10 rather than in the panic of Year 11. This is the cheapest version of Cambridge IGCSE support that exists, because the same number of hours is spread over twice the runway and bought at the middle of the market band rather than the top. It also leaves room to change tutor if the first match is wrong, which a six-week sprint does not.

  • Sits at the AED 150 to 300 qualified-tutor band rather than the specialist band
  • Enough runway to fix method habits, not just to drill past papers
  • Session notes accumulate into a usable revision record by February
  • A weak Checkpoint strand can be closed here for a fraction of the Year 11 price

A counted block, backwards from the series

A fixed number of hours, planned from the paper date rather than from the start date, usually two sessions a week across ten to fourteen weeks. This is what most UAE families actually buy, and it works when the target is named: a specific paper, a specific question type, a specific grade band the tier allows. It stops working when it is bought as general reassurance across six subjects at once.

  • Priced per block, so the total is known before the first session
  • Built around the mock script and the mark scheme, question type by question type
  • Paused rather than wasted during school exam weeks
  • Reviewed at six hours against the target that was written down at the start

Ramadan, Eid and the UAE holiday pattern

The UAE academic year puts Ramadan and Eid inside the exact weeks a Year 11 candidate most needs routine, and school hours shorten while revision does not. Sessions move to post-Iftar slots, or to late Gulf mornings during holiday weeks, and nobody is charged for a month that contains fewer teaching weeks than a normal one. Summer and winter breaks work the same way, including for families travelling out of the country.

  • Post-Iftar evening slots through Ramadan, agreed a fortnight ahead
  • Late-morning sessions during school holiday weeks and travel periods
  • A month is billed on sessions taught, not on calendar weeks
  • Time-zone shifts handled while families are abroad, with no change of tutor

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in the UAE

01

What a parent is actually asking when they search for a Cambridge IGCSE home tutor

The phrase means one-to-one help with named Cambridge IGCSE syllabuses, bought privately and paid for by the hour, with the tutor arriving rather than the child travelling to a centre. That is a reasonable thing to want, and in the UAE market it costs between AED 180 and AED 500 an hour depending on the emirate, the code and how far anybody has to drive. The word home in the search is doing one job: it separates private one-to-one from a group class at a tuition centre. It is not really a statement about geography.

IB Gram answers the one-to-one part and declines the driving part. Lessons for UAE families run one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the school day. Home visits are part of our India service only, and no tutor is sent to a UAE address. That is stated here rather than buried, because the alternative is a family discovering it after a deposit.

The reason to prefer the online version is not cost, although it is usually cheaper. It is the pool. A Computer Science 0478 or International Mathematics 0607 specialist who has marked those papers is a small population in the Emirates, and smaller again once you require them to be within a twenty-minute drive of one community at five in the afternoon. Remove the drive and the constraint becomes the syllabus code instead of the postcode. A family in Fujairah gets the same choice as a family in Jumeirah.

The honest limit of this is worth stating too. There are things a screen cannot do. It cannot run a titration for your child, it cannot invigilate a mock, and it cannot replace a school's laboratory for the practical route in the sciences. What it can do is teach the theory and the alternative-to-practical technique, read a marked script line by line, and put a specialist in front of a candidate who would otherwise have had a generalist. Where the practical paper is the barrier, say so early and we will tell you honestly what the sessions can and cannot address.

02

The syllabus code sets the price before the subject does

Ask any UAE agency what maths tutoring costs and you will get a band. Ask what Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics 0607 tutoring costs and the band moves, because that is a different question with a different answer. Cambridge IGCSE is a catalogue of separately examined syllabuses, each with its own code printed on the statement of entry, and the supply of people who have actually taught and marked a given code varies enormously inside the Emirates. Price follows supply. It does not follow difficulty, and it certainly does not follow how hard your child finds the subject.

The practical consequence is that the single cheapest thing a parent can do before spending anything is find the codes. They are on the statement of entry the school issues ahead of the series, not on the school's prospectus and not in the parent portal's subject list. A family that walks into a conversation with 0620 Extended and 0607 Core written down gets quoted accurately. A family that says science and maths gets quoted the agency's average, which is always above what the common codes should cost and below what the scarce ones really require.

The table below sets out the codes UAE Year 11 cohorts most often carry, what the written assessment is actually testing, where the teaching pool is thin, and the market band each code tends to clear at. The bands are the published market figures, not IB Gram prices, and the component patterns should be confirmed for your series on cambridgeinternational.org before you rely on them. Read the fourth column as the explanation of the fifth: every premium on this page is a scarcity premium, and scarcity is the one thing a parent can plan around.

One further note on the arithmetic. A scarce code does not mean more hours; it usually means fewer, because a specialist diagnoses in one session what a generalist circles for six. Two hours at AED 400 that identify a specific pseudocode trace-table habit are better value than twelve at AED 120 spent re-teaching content the candidate already knew. That comparison is the single most useful one on this page, and it is the one no competitor page in this search makes at all.

0580 or 0607: the maths code that prices the next two years

Two Cambridge maths codes appear on UAE entry forms, and most parents never learn which one their child is sitting until somebody asks. Mathematics 0580 is the mainstream entry across British-curriculum schools in the Emirates. International Mathematics 0607 turns up where a school is running the IB Middle Years Programme underneath, or steering a cohort towards the Diploma, and it is a genuinely different syllabus rather than a relabelled one. The graphic display calculator is expected throughout 0607, and the assessment asks for investigation and interpretation alongside manipulation.

This matters to a budget in a way no other subject decision does, because maths is the one code that reaches forward into everything. A 0607 cohort is usually a Diploma cohort, which means the tutoring question is a two-year arc ending in Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, not a one-year sprint ending in August. A 0580 cohort is usually heading for Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics, where the Extended-tier algebra from Year 11 is assumed rather than revisited. Either way, the cheap hour is the one bought in Year 10.

The scarcity picture is the clearest on this page. A 0580 tutor can be found at the lower end of the qualified band in every emirate. A 0607 specialist who has taught the calculator techniques and marked the investigative questions is a much smaller group, and in Al Ain, Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain a visiting one is close to unobtainable at any rate. That is the single clearest case for buying the specialist over live video rather than buying proximity and hoping.

The one thing to avoid is paying a 0580 tutor to teach 0607 content. It happens constantly, it is not dishonest, and it is still waste: the tutor teaches what they know, the candidate practises questions from the wrong paper style, and the gap that prompted the booking is still there in February. Send the statement of entry first. If the code on it is 0607 and no 0607 specialist is free at your hour, we will say so rather than substitute.

Supply, not sentiment: what sits behind a Cambridge rate in this market

A tutoring rate in the UAE is not a verdict on anybody's teaching. It is the output of a market with a large, growing demand side and a slow-growing specialist supply side, plus a set of rules that quietly close off the cheapest options. Reading those forces is what lets a parent tell a fair quote from an opportunistic one, and almost none of this appears anywhere in the pages currently ranking for this search.

Start with scale. Dubai's private sector taught 387,441 pupils across 227 schools offering 17 different curricula in 2024-25, with the UK curriculum accounting for 37 per cent of pupils, Indian 26 per cent, American 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate 7 per cent. That makes IGCSE demand the single largest block in the emirate, which is exactly why general IGCSE hours are competitively priced and niche codes are not. Then add new supply: Dubai's 2026-27 intake brings seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three IB, creating 16,846 new places, after six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6 per cent.

Now the rules. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for 2026-27, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. Your school bill is held; nothing holds a tutoring rate. Meanwhile the private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 is granted free of charge for two years, which means no part of a premium is explained by licensing cost. And in Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of pupils at their own school, closing the one route parents try first.

Put those together and the shape of the market is clear. Volume codes cheap, scarce codes dear, no regulatory cost to pass on, a growing Year 10 population every September, and the free option legally unavailable. A rate at the top of the band is defensible when it buys a named syllabus specialist. It is not defensible when it buys a generalist, a long drive, and a promise.

What the UAE market charges, and what each published figure leaves out

Here are the numbers. They are market figures, each attributed to the provider or rate table that published it and read in October 2026, and none of them is an IB Gram price. We publish them because the alternative is what this search currently offers: one strong competitor page whose own FAQ asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer, and two others that quote in US dollars.

The honest reading of a rate table is the fourth column rather than the second. A band tells you what an hour is advertised at; it tells you nothing about what the hour contains. Preparation time, marking turnaround on a practice paper, a written record you can read afterwards, and a replacement if the tutor stops answering in April are all real costs that somebody absorbs. When an advertised rate is unusually low, one of those four has usually been removed, and the family finds out in the week it matters most.

Monthly packages deserve particular care. Advertised UAE packages include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions, and Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Before signing one, ask two questions: what happens to unused sessions, and does the month include school-holiday weeks. A UAE month containing Eid, a half-term and a travel week is not a month of teaching.

IB Gram's own position: we do not publish a rate card on these pages, because the right figure depends on the code, the tier and how many weeks are left, and a number invented for a landing page would be worse than no number. What we do instead is quote against the bands above, start with a trial lesson at no charge and with no card details taken, and tell you before you pay if the only specialist for your code is unavailable at the hour you want.

A tutor in the room against a specialist on screen, priced per taught minute

The comparison most families make is rate against rate, and it is the wrong comparison. The right one is cost per taught minute, because a visiting arrangement bills an hour and consumes considerably more than an hour of the household's evening. Nobody teaches in a car, and nobody teaches in the fifteen minutes of settling that follows a late arrival. Once the journey is priced honestly, the gap between the formats narrows at the top and widens at the bottom.

The arithmetic below uses AED 250 an hour as a mid-market figure, purely as arithmetic rather than as anybody's price. At that rate, two sessions lost in a term to illness or traffic is roughly AED 500, and a visiting arrangement is far likelier to charge for them because the journey was already made. Over a two-year Cambridge IGCSE run, the difference between formats is usually several thousand dirhams, which is a meaningful slice of the specialist budget for a second subject.

The non-financial argument is stronger, though, and it is the pool. The whole purpose of identifying the syllabus code is to buy the person who has taught it. If the search is then restricted to people prepared to drive to one community at five in the afternoon, the code advantage disappears and you are back to a generalist. A 0478 or 0654 candidate in Ajman or Fujairah has no realistic visiting option, and pretending otherwise is how families end up paying specialist rates for general help.

What the screen does not solve, again plainly: laboratory work, invigilated conditions, and the physical handling of apparatus for the practical-route science papers. Those stay with the school. Everything else in a Cambridge IGCSE year, including reading a marked mock script question by question and rebuilding extended-response technique, works at least as well over live video with a shared screen, and leaves a written record the household can audit afterwards.

The diagnostic you have already paid for

Most UAE families buy their first tutoring hours on a feeling, and the feeling is usually accurate about the subject and wrong about the cause. Before any money moves there are five pieces of evidence already sitting in the household or in the school office, all of them produced at no additional cost, and together they say whether paid hours are the right purchase and which code to spend them on. Reading them is the highest-return half hour in this entire process.

The Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint report is the earliest of them. Cambridge offers Checkpoint tests in March, May and October, and the report is externally marked, which makes it the only objective read a family gets two years before an IGCSE entry. It says nothing about Extended-tier content, so it cannot justify a two-year weekly block. It can absolutely justify six targeted hours on a named strand, which is the difference between spending AED 1,500 in Year 8 and AED 9,000 in Year 11.

The two documents that matter most, though, are the marked mock script and the statement of entry. The script tells you which question types bleed marks, which is the only diagnosis worth paying for; a tutor who starts from a marked script rather than from a topic list earns the first hour back immediately. The statement of entry tells you the code, the tier and the components, so the specialist you hire matches the paper the candidate will actually sit. Add the forecast grade, which for the Cambridge March 2027 series is due from the school on 27 February 2027, and you have a written statement of what the subject teacher expects.

The pattern to avoid is the one this market rewards: booking a weekly hour in six subjects because results felt disappointing. That is the most expensive possible response and the least likely to work, because it spreads attention across codes with completely different failure modes. Triage against the evidence, fund one or two codes properly, and revisit at six hours. If the evidence does not point anywhere, the honest answer is that tutoring is not yet the right spend, and we will say that.

Command terms are where Cambridge marks quietly leave the room

  • State and describe are recall; explain and evaluate are the marks a tutor can actually win back
  • A six-mark extended response is a chain, not a list, and it is marked as a chain
  • Units, significant figures and the final rounding line cost more marks than any single topic
  • Method marks survive a wrong answer only if the method was written down
  • Directed writing is marked against the audience and form printed in the task

A large share of the marks a UAE Cambridge candidate loses are not lost to ignorance. They are lost to answering a different question from the one printed. State, describe, explain, calculate, suggest and evaluate each have a defined expectation in the mark scheme, and each has a characteristic failure: a described answer where an explanation was wanted collects a fraction of the available marks even when every fact in it is correct. This is the most coachable thing in the entire qualification, and it is the reason a specialist hour can move a grade band faster than a term of content revision.

The pattern repeats across codes with its own local flavour. In Chemistry 0620 the six-mark extended response is answered as a list of true statements rather than a linked chain of cause and effect. In Biology 0610 a process is named where a mechanism in sequence was required. In Physics 0625 the formula is recalled correctly and the unit is dropped, or the rounding happens two lines before the final answer. In Mathematics 0580 the method mark is thrown away because a step done mentally was never written down. In English 0500 the directed-writing task names an audience and a form, and the composition ignores both.

Diagnosing this needs a marked script, not a topic list, which is why the mock paper is worth more to a tutor than anything a parent can describe over the phone. The work itself is unglamorous: rewrite the same six-mark answer four times against the published command-term expectation until the structure is automatic. It does not feel like tutoring and it is where most of the recoverable marks in a Cambridge IGCSE year actually live.

One caution on materials. Cambridge syllabuses, past papers and mark schemes belong to Cambridge, and no tutor should be supplying them to you as downloads. A tutor references them, cites the official page and works from what the school has legitimately provided to the candidate. If a provider's selling point is a library of papers and mark schemes to hand over, that is a copyright problem rather than a feature, and it tells you something about the rest of the operation.

Five subjects, not six: dropping a Cambridge entry to save money

Families triaging a nine-subject Year 11 budget reach the same question eventually: can we drop one. Academically that is a school conversation. Financially and administratively there is a harder constraint, and it is the Ministry of Education equivalency file that a UAE-based candidate will eventually need. Getting this wrong is cheap to do and expensive to discover, because it is usually discovered at an admissions desk.

As reported from the Ministry's July 2026 clarification, the British-track route asks the candidate to pass five subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus either one subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. The point that catches UAE families is the exclusion: Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. A page currently ranking for this query states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects. The Ministry's clarification, as reported, says five, and the exclusion is what makes the counting feel like six.

The practical rule that follows is simple. Secure five accepted subjects at the reported minimum first, then triage. A humanity is usually the safest thing to drop once the five are safe; a science or maths almost never is, because every later route asks for them and replacing one costs far more than the tutoring you avoided. Equivalency is a Ministry process, not something IB Gram performs, guarantees or expedites, and nothing on this page should be read as implying tutoring is required for it. Verify the current requirements on moe.gov.ae or with the attestation authority in your emirate before acting on any figure, including the ones here.

The budget version of this is worth stating plainly. Funding tutoring across nine subjects is the most expensive plan available and the least effective. Funding it across the two codes that are both at risk and structurally necessary, while confirming that five accepted subjects are secure, is the plan that costs least and protects most. That is an arithmetic decision made against the entry form, not a judgement about anybody's ability.

A science (0625, 0620, 0610 or 0654)YesNo less than E or grade 3A double-award entry covers the science block; dropping a single science can leave the count short
A humanity (0460 Geography or 0470 History)YesNo less than E or grade 3The usual cut, and often the right one once five accepted subjects are secure

What a missed Cambridge date costs, counted in series rather than in hours

Cambridge runs its IGCSE assessment in series, and a series is a door that closes. That single fact governs the cost of every scheduling decision a UAE family makes, because a slip does not usually produce a late fee. It produces a wait, and a wait means another entry, another revision block and another set of funded hours. Cambridge's exam timetable page sets out a June series and a November series, and the board also publishes key dates for a March series, which is the clearest worked example of how far ahead the real deadlines sit.

Take the March 2027 series as that example. The exam period runs from 3 February to 4 March 2027, but final entries are due on 27 November 2026, more than two months before the first paper. Forecast grades are due on 27 February 2027. Results reach centres on Cambridge Direct on 13 May 2027, and certificates follow in late June. A family deciding in January to fund serious support is deciding after the entry has already been locked and shortly before the forecast grade goes in.

There is one further trap that costs more than any of the others and is almost never mentioned. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone's timetable was used. A revision plan built on the wrong zone's dates is a plan that can lose a paper outright. Ask the school's exams officer which zone the centre sits in and work from that timetable only.

The planning consequence for a budget is the one worth keeping. Hours bought twelve weeks out are bought at the middle of the market band and spread across a sensible week. Hours bought three weeks out are bought at the top of the band, in doubled sessions, from whoever happens to be free, and they are competing with the school's own revision timetable for the same tired evenings. The date is what makes the hour expensive, not the tutor.

Results, remarks and a November resit: the arithmetic after the papers

  • A remark is submitted by the school's exams officer, not by a parent, and runs on the board's deadline
  • A resit means a new entry, a new revision block and competition with the next course's first term
  • Results and certificates arrive weeks apart; admissions files usually need the certificate
  • Check the five-subject count on results day, not in the month an application is due

Results day is where the most expensive decisions of the whole process get made, usually in a hurry and often while the family is out of the country. Pearson's published pattern gives a sense of the clock: June 2026 International GCSE results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August, while November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Cambridge's March 2027 results reach centres on Direct on 13 May 2027, with certificates in late June. Whichever board your child sits, two windows open on results day and both shut quickly.

The first is the enquiry about results, the review or remark route, which runs through the school rather than through the parent and carries a deadline set by the board. It is worth considering when a grade sits one mark-band below everything else the candidate has produced all year, and it is worth nothing when it is being used as a substitute for accepting a result. The school's exams officer is the only person who can submit it, which makes the first call on results day a call to the school, not to a tutor.

The second is the resit decision, and here the arithmetic is uncomfortable but clear. A resit means a fresh entry in a later series, a revision block running alongside the first term of the next course, and an opportunity cost measured in attention rather than money: the Year 12 content being taught while the Year 11 paper is being re-prepared. Priced honestly, a resit almost always costs more in total than the tutoring that would have prevented it would have cost in February. That is not an argument for panic buying; it is an argument for buying earlier and smaller.

The third thing to do on results day is administrative and nobody enjoys it. Open the equivalency file. Check that five accepted subjects at the reported minimum grade are present, remembering that Arabic and Islamic education sit outside that count, and confirm the current requirement on moe.gov.ae rather than on any landing page, including this one. Certificates arrive weeks after results, and an admissions deadline that needs a certificate does not care which week it is.

What no fee buys: the honesty line around Cambridge coursework and practicals

Some things in this market are for sale and should not be. At least one provider ranking in this search sells completed Internal Assessments outright. The same logic is applied to IGCSE coursework components, and it is the single fastest way to end a candidate's entry. A tutor teaches, explains, models an approach, asks the questions a marker would ask, and gives feedback on work the candidate produced. A tutor does not write coursework, does not redraft it to completion, and does not supply text to be submitted under somebody else's name.

That boundary holds across the Cambridge components where it matters most. In English 0500 a tutor can teach the directed-writing form and mark a practice piece against the band descriptors; the composition submitted is the candidate's. In Business 0450 and History 0470 a tutor can interrogate an argument and point out an unsupported claim; the writing stays with the student. In the sciences, practical skills assessed through the practical test or the alternative to practical paper are prepared through technique, data handling and past question practice, while the apparatus and the invigilated conditions remain the school's responsibility.

The materials boundary runs alongside it. Cambridge syllabuses, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables are Cambridge's property. A tutor cites them and links to the official page; a tutor does not distribute them as a download library, and a provider advertising one is advertising a copyright problem. The same applies to anything described as leaked, advance or inside information about a paper, which no legitimate tutor has and no parent should want.

None of this is a disclaimer bolted to the end of a sales page. It is the practical reason the honest version of this service is worth paying for. No tutor can promise a particular grade, and anybody selling one is selling something else. What a specialist hour can do is make the difference between a candidate who knows the content and a candidate who can convert it into marks under a named command term, inside a timed paper, in the zone their centre actually sits in. That is the product, and it is the only one we sell.

Where we tutor

Cambridge IGCSE support across the seven emirates

Price and supply are not the same in every emirate, and the regulator holding your child's school file is not the same either. The notes below are about what each location does to the cost and the availability of a Cambridge IGCSE hour, not about scenery.

Dubai

The deepest market and the most competitive pricing, under KHDA, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Dubai held private school fees flat for 2026-27. Nothing holds a tutoring rate flat, and the specialist codes still clear at the top band here.

Abu Dhabi

Under ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of pupils enrolled at their own school, so the cheapest option a parent imagines is not available. Supply is good, pricing slightly above Dubai for scarce codes.

Al Ain

Also ADEK territory, with a smaller Cambridge cohort and a visibly thinner local tutor pool. A visiting arrangement for 0607 or 0478 is close to unobtainable here at any rate, which is precisely where a live-video specialist stops being a compromise and becomes the only route to the code.

Sharjah

The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education in the emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Several large British-curriculum cohorts sit IGCSEs here. Travel across the Dubai border at peak hour is why in-home quotes climb before any teaching is costed.

Ajman

The Ministry of Education plays a pivotal role in supervising private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The local pool of Extended-tier science specialists is small, and families here routinely pay Dubai travel premiums for a tutor who then arrives late. Live video removes the premium and the lateness together.

Ras Al Khaimah

Private education is regulated by the Department of Knowledge, which, like Sharjah's authority, approves fees, curricula, programmes and assessment methods. Ras Al Khaimah returns almost no mentions across the competitor pages in this search, which tells you how much local Cambridge-specific tutoring supply there is to compete for.

Fujairah

Ministry of Education oversight, east-coast geography, and the longest journeys in the country for anyone considering a visiting tutor. A single evening session can cost a tutor two hours of driving, and that is what the quote reflects. A 0654 Double Award candidate here has effectively one sensible delivery route.

Umm Al Quwain

The smallest private-school market in the country, under Ministry of Education supervision. Zero competitor pages in this research set mention it at all. For a Cambridge candidate here, the question is not what a specialist costs but whether one exists within driving distance, and usually the answer is no.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in the UAE

Dubai

Dubai's private sector taught 387,441 pupils across 227 schools offering 17 different curricula in 2024-25, with the UK curriculum accounting for 37 per cent of pupils. The schools below run British-curriculum Year 11 cohorts sitting IGCSEs; ask the exams officer whether yours enters Cambridge or Pearson, because the preparation differs.

  • Jumeirah College
  • Dubai College
  • Dubai English Speaking College
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • Repton School Dubai

Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

ADEK licenses and accredits the private schools here, and the British-curriculum cohorts below sit IGCSE entries in Year 11. The ethics rule barring staff from tutoring their own pupils matters most in this emirate, because it closes the route most parents try first and pushes them towards the open market.

  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • The British International School Abu Dhabi
  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • Repton School Abu Dhabi
  • Al Ain English Speaking School

Sharjah and the Northern Emirates

SPEA regulates Sharjah and approves curricula and assessment methods; Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge does the same there, with the Ministry of Education supervising Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Cambridge cohorts here are smaller, and the specialist supply thins fast outside Dubai's commuting radius.

  • The Westminster School Sharjah
  • Sharjah English School
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Our Own English High School Sharjah
  • Ras Al Khaimah Academy
  • The Westminster School Ajman

Schools are named here as school-system context for families comparing options. IB Gram is an independent tutoring platform with no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school, school group or examination board named on this page, and verifying a school's current curriculum, board and inspection record is something to do on the regulator's own site.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the entry form and one marked paper

Two documents start this properly: the statement of entry, which carries the Cambridge code, the tier and the components, and the most recent marked script with its mark scheme. Together they replace a guess with a diagnosis. A family who sends these gets an accurate answer about availability and cost; a family who describes the problem gets an average.

  2. 02

A trial lesson at no charge

Thirty minutes, one-to-one over live video, with no card details taken and no obligation to book a block. The purpose is diagnostic rather than promotional: the tutor works through a question the candidate got wrong and names the habit behind it. If the match is wrong, say so and we will change the tutor or tell you honestly that the specialist you need is not free.

  3. 03

A written target, then a counted block

Before money moves, the target gets written down: the code, the question types, and what the tier allows. The block is then counted backwards from the series rather than forwards from today, and quoted as a total so you know the figure before the first session. Sessions sit in Gulf Standard Time around the school day, with Ramadan and holiday weeks handled separately.

  4. 04

Review at six hours against what was written

Six paid hours in, there should be something to read: session notes, annotated questions, and a marked piece of the candidate's own work showing the habit changing. If there is not, the honest conclusion is that the plan or the match is wrong, and the review exists to say so rather than to renew automatically. Blocks can be paused during school exam weeks.

  5. 05

Hand back to the school calendar

The last stage is deliberately a stop. Once the forecast grade is in and the paper is close, the school's own revision timetable should own the candidate's evenings, and extra paid hours start competing with sleep. We will tell you when we think that point has arrived, which is the part of this that costs us money and is still the right advice.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The price is on the page

Market bands in AED, each attributed to the provider or rate table that published it and dated October 2026, sit in the open on this page rather than behind an enquiry form. Three of the strongest competitor pages in this search publish no figure at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars. A family should be able to sanity-check a quote before they make a call.

Matched to the code, not to the subject

We match on the Cambridge syllabus code from the statement of entry, because 0580 and 0607 are different syllabuses and a general maths tutor is poor value for the second. If no specialist for your code is free at the hour you want, we say that rather than substituting somebody who will teach the paper they know instead of the paper your child sits.

Online because of the pool, not to cut corners

Lessons run one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time. Home visits are part of our India service only. The reason is supply: a Computer Science 0478 or Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 specialist is a small population in the Emirates, and smaller still if they must also live near one community. Removing the journey widens the pool and removes travel from the rate.

Sourced numbers, with the gaps admitted

Every regulatory and calendar fact on this page is attributed: u.ae for the regulator map and the permit, KHDA for the fee position and the mandatory subjects, Cambridge for the series dates, Pearson for the results pattern. Where a figure could not be verified, it is absent rather than estimated, and that includes IB session dates, which we do not publish.

An independent platform, with no claimed approvals

IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform. We hold no accreditation, licence, partnership or endorsement from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, we claim none, and we occupy no office in the UAE. Named schools appear here as school-system context only. Anyone claiming regulator approval for private tutoring is worth a second question.

The honesty line, stated before you pay

A tutor here teaches, reviews and gives feedback on the candidate's own work. Coursework is not written, redrafted to completion or supplied. No grade is promised, no outcome is guaranteed, and past papers and mark schemes are referenced and linked rather than distributed. That boundary is why the service is worth paying for rather than a footnote on the way out.

IB and IGCSE tutoring in the UAE: your questions answered

What does a Cambridge IGCSE home tutor cost per hour in the UAE?+

Market rates run roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor, AED 180 to 500 for a visiting one-to-one arrangement, and AED 200 to 450 and above for a named syllabus specialist. Budget options advertise lower: EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. Unitors lists IGCSE from AED 150, TutorChase publishes AED 270, and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table shows in-home at AED 180 to 350. Those are market figures as published by each source and read in October 2026, not IB Gram prices. What moves your own number is the syllabus code, the tier and how many weeks are left.

Why does a Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 tutor cost more than an English 0500 tutor?+

Supply, not difficulty. English as a First Language 0500 has the deepest teaching pool in the Emirates, so real options exist around AED 150 and providers compete on price. Physics 0625 above grade 6 needs somebody who has taught the Extended theory and, ideally, marked the practical-route paper, and that is a far smaller group across the UAE. The same logic puts Computer Science 0478 and Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 at the top of the band, because pseudocode marking and three-discipline teaching are specialist skills rather than general ones. Scarcity sets the rate before anybody looks at your child's work, which is also why identifying the code first saves money.

Does IB Gram send a Cambridge IGCSE tutor to our address in the UAE?+

No. Every UAE lesson runs one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the school day. Home visits are part of our India service only, and no tutor is dispatched to a UAE address. The reason is the pool rather than the cost: a specialist for a scarce Cambridge code is unlikely to live within a short drive of any one community, so insisting on proximity means accepting a generalist. Removing the journey means the only constraint is the syllabus code. The limits are stated honestly too: laboratory work, apparatus handling and invigilated conditions stay with the school.

Is a monthly package better value than paying by the hour?+

It depends entirely on what the month contains. Advertised UAE packages include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions, and Bestimate estimates AED 600 to 1,200 monthly at the mid band for a weekly hour. Before signing, ask two questions. What happens to unused sessions, and does the month include school-holiday weeks. A UAE month holding Eid, a half-term and a travel week is not a month of teaching, and a package priced on calendar weeks rather than taught sessions quietly transfers that loss to you.

How many Cambridge IGCSE subjects should we actually fund tutoring for?+

One or two, almost always. Funding a weekly hour across six or nine subjects is the most expensive plan available and the least likely to work, because the codes have completely different failure modes and the candidate's attention is finite. Triage against evidence you already hold: the marked mock script, the end-of-Year-10 paper and the forecast grade. Fund the codes that are both at risk and structurally necessary, usually maths and one science, and confirm that five subjects the Ministry accepts are secure. Then review at six hours. A humanity is usually the safest thing to leave unfunded once the five are safe.

Should we pay for tutoring in Year 10 or wait until Year 11?+

Year 10 is cheaper for the same result, and that is arithmetic rather than sales talk. The same number of hours spread over two years is bought at the middle of the market band instead of the top, leaves room to change tutor if the first match is wrong, and attacks method habits rather than just drilling past papers. By January of Year 11 the entry is locked, the forecast grade is weeks away, and a family is buying doubled sessions from whoever is free. The date is what makes an hour expensive. The tutor is usually the same person either way.

Is Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics 0607 worth paying a specialist for?+

Yes, because 0607 is a different syllabus rather than a variant of 0580. A graphic display calculator is expected throughout and the assessment leans on investigation, modelling and written justification alongside manipulation. A competent 0580 tutor who has never taught 0607 will teach what they know, the candidate will practise the wrong paper style, and the original gap will still be there in February. That is not dishonesty, it is mismatch, and it is the most common waste we see in UAE maths tutoring. Send the statement of entry so the code is known before anybody is booked.

What does the MoHRE private tuition permit tell me about the rate I am quoted?+

That no part of the premium is licensing. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, with eligible applicants including teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. So the permit is a legal baseline rather than a quality mark. It certifies permission to charge, not the ability to teach Extended-tier Cambridge content.

How do I find out which Cambridge syllabus code my child is entered for?+

From the statement of entry the school issues ahead of the series, not from the school prospectus and not from the subject list in a parent portal. The statement carries the code, the tier and the components, which is exactly the information that decides who should teach the hour. If it has not arrived yet, the exams officer can tell you, and the same conversation is the moment to ask which of Cambridge's six administrative zones the centre sits in, because that decides which version of the timetable your revision plan should be built on.

Is a small group class cheaper than one-to-one for Cambridge IGCSE?+

Per hour, yes, usually a third to a half of the one-to-one rate per student. Whether it is better value depends on one thing: does the group share your child's code and tier. A group mixing Core and Extended candidates, or mixing 0580 with 0607, teaches to the middle and the marginal candidate learns least. Groups work well for content coverage and badly for the thing most UAE candidates actually need, which is line-by-line work on their own marked script. If the diagnosis is command-term technique, a group will not reach it.

Does a cheaper tutor end up costing more by the time the papers arrive?+

Often, and the mechanism is specific rather than vague. An advertised rate well below the qualified band has usually had something removed: preparation time, marking turnaround on practice papers, a written record of each session, or a replacement if the tutor stops answering in April. Those are real costs and somebody absorbs them. Twelve hours at AED 120 re-teaching content a candidate already knew is dearer than two at AED 400 that identify the actual habit, because the marks the hours were bought to recover are still missing in June. Judge the hour by what it leaves behind.

Can a tutor help with the Cambridge alternative to practical paper over video?+

Yes for the paper, no for the laboratory. The alternative to practical paper assesses understanding of experimental method, data handling, graph work, sources of error and improvements to a procedure, and all of that is taught well over live video with a shared screen and past questions. What a screen cannot do is run a titration, handle apparatus or provide invigilated conditions, and where a candidate is on the practical-test route the school's laboratory remains the only place that work happens. Tell us which route the entry carries and we will say plainly what the sessions can address.

What happens to the money we have spent if the Cambridge entry deadline is missed?+

The hours are not wasted, but the timetable is. A missed entry does not usually produce a late fee; it produces a wait for a later series, which means another entry and in practice another funded revision block alongside the next course's first term. For the March 2027 series Cambridge published final entries as due on 27 November 2026, with the exam period from 3 February to 4 March 2027, so the real deadline sits months before the paper. The exams officer holds that date, not the family, which is why it is worth asking about in September.

Is it cheaper to resit in a later series than to add tutoring now?+

Priced honestly, almost never. A resit means a fresh entry, a revision block running against the first term of the next course, and an opportunity cost measured in attention rather than dirhams: Year 12 content taught while a Year 11 paper is re-prepared. Compared with a counted block bought twelve weeks before the original paper at the middle of the market band, the resit route is more expensive in total and more disruptive. That is an argument for buying earlier and smaller rather than for panic buying, and no tutor can promise a particular outcome in either direction.

Do Arabic and Islamic Education count towards the five subjects the Ministry asks for?+

No. As reported from the Ministry's July 2026 clarification, the British track asks for five subjects passed in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. They remain mandatory in school under KHDA rules regardless of the licensed curriculum. One page ranking for this query states six IGCSE subjects; the exclusion is what makes five feel like six. Verify the current rule on moe.gov.ae before acting on it.

What should one paid hour of Cambridge IGCSE tuition actually produce?+

Something you can read afterwards. Shared-screen notes, at least one annotated exam question showing the method the marker wanted, and a single written next step for the week. Six paid hours in there should also be a marked piece of the candidate's own work showing a named habit changing: units retained, method lines written down, a six-mark answer built as a chain rather than a list. If none of that exists after six hours, the plan or the match is wrong and the review conversation should say so rather than renewing the block automatically.

Start with the code on the entry form, not with a quote

The cheapest useful thing you can do today costs nothing: find the statement of entry, write down the Cambridge syllabus codes and the tier, and dig out the last marked script with its mark scheme. Send those two things and you will get a straight answer about which specialist fits, what the market band for that code looks like, and whether anybody is free at the hour you want. The trial lesson is thirty minutes, one-to-one over live video, with no card details taken. If the honest answer is that tutoring is not yet the right spend, we would rather say that than sell you a block.
