IB Home Tutor in Dubai Silicon Oasis

Families searching for an IB home tutor in Dubai Silicon Oasis usually also look at Academic City, The Villa and Nad Al Sheba, because the schools and the roads link all four. This page compares them honestly on the things that matter for Diploma tutoring: school supply, commute, and how deep the local tutor pool runs. The conclusion is the same in every one of them, and it is why lessons here are delivered as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time rather than by car.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Silicon Oasis

Silicon Oasis against its neighbours, and why the answer does not change

Dubai Silicon Oasis sits on the eastern side of the Dubai-Al Ain corridor, with Academic City to the south, The Villa and Dubailand to the west, Nad Al Sheba and Ras Al Khor to the north, and Mirdif and Festival City beyond that. Families comparing these areas for schooling usually assume the tutoring market differs between them too. On school supply, commute and housing it genuinely does. On access to an IB Diploma specialist it does not, and understanding why saves a great deal of searching.

Start with what actually differs. Silicon Oasis has a large British-curriculum secondary school inside the community and several Indian-curriculum schools, which makes it unusually self-contained for daily logistics. Academic City is a university district with secondary provision attached. The Villa and Dubailand have grown their school provision quickly and are more car-dependent. Nad Al Sheba holds two long-established Diploma centres. Those are real differences and they matter when choosing a school.

Now what does not differ. The International Baccalaureate accounted for 7 per cent of private school enrolment in Dubai in 2024-25, against 37 per cent on the UK curriculum and 26 per cent Indian. That ratio is roughly the same whichever of these communities you live in, because it is an emirate-level fact about the market rather than a neighbourhood one. The Diploma teaching pool is therefore small everywhere along this corridor, and smaller again once it is divided by subject and by level.

Then apply the two filters a visiting tutor has to pass. They must be willing to drive to your address inside the narrow window when a Diploma student is both home and still capable, and they must teach your child's exact subject at the exact level. For Business Management or Economics, that combination exists in several of these communities. For Chemistry at Higher Level, Physics at Higher Level or Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, it mostly does not, in any of them.

IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai; home visits are a service we offer only in India. Across Silicon Oasis, Academic City, The Villa, Nad Al Sheba and the rest of this corridor, lessons are live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time. That is why the answer is the same in every neighbourhood on the comparison: once the driving radius stops being a filter, the only remaining questions are subject, level and hour, and those are answerable identically from Cedre Villas or from Nad Al Sheba.

The rest of this page does the comparison properly, with tables rather than impressions: how the communities differ on schools and commute, how deep local supply runs by subject, what the travel premium buys in a corridor this spread out, and what the Diploma actually requires at each stage. Use it to decide what to buy, not where to live.

At a glance

  • Silicon Oasis, Academic City, The Villa and Nad Al Sheba differ on schools and commute, not on Diploma tutor supply
  • IB enrolment was 7 per cent of Dubai's private market in 2024-25, which is an emirate-level fact
  • A visiting tutor must pass three filters at once: subject, level and driving distance
  • Higher Level sciences and Maths AA HL fail the third filter in every community on this corridor
  • Online delivery removes the distance filter, which is why the answer stops depending on your address
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Which IB programme a child is in changes the comparison, because local supply is adequate for some stages and thin for others. These are the three and what each actually needs.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led, with no external examinations and continuous teacher assessment. Support at this level is about reading stamina, number fluency and explaining reasoning out loud. The content demand is modest, so a strong primary teacher of any curriculum background is a legitimate match.

This is the one stage where the neighbourhood comparison genuinely favours whoever is nearest. Across Silicon Oasis, Cedre Villas, Academic City and The Villa, local primary tutoring supply is adequate and proximity is a reasonable filter. Paying a Diploma specialist rate for Year 4 reading comprehension is the clearest waste available.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Every subject is assessed against four criteria, A to D, each on a 1 to 8 scale, with the totals converted to a 1 to 7 grade using published boundaries. Most bands are lost on one or two criteria rather than across a subject, and often on the strands covering investigation, evaluation or reflection.

Local MYP supply along this corridor is thinner than parents expect, because most nearby tutors come from British and Indian curriculum backgrounds and criterion marking is unfamiliar to them. The test is simple: ask a prospective tutor to name the four criteria for the subject in question.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Higher Level carries additional content and, in the sciences, greater extended-response demand. Each subject has an internal assessment marked against lettered criteria and moderated by the IB.

This is where the neighbourhood comparison stops mattering. Nad Al Sheba holds long-established Diploma centres and Silicon Oasis does not, but neither fact changes whether a Chemistry HL specialist is free at 5pm on a Tuesday within driving distance of your villa. That is an emirate-wide scarcity, and online matching is the only thing that resolves it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects families along this corridor ask about, with the part of each that a specialist knows and a capable generalist usually does not. The grid is the real comparison: tutor against tutor, rather than postcode against postcode.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebra, calculus and proof, with Paper 1 sat without a calculator and a Paper 3 extended problem-solving component at Higher Level. The non-calculator paper is where students who have leaned on a graphic display calculator for routine manipulation come unstuck.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-led reasoning with the calculator permitted throughout. Marks go missing in interpretation rather than computation: a regression calculated correctly and then described without reference to the context in the question.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organised around Structure and Reactivity, with a data booklet provided in the examination and systematically under-used. Organic mechanisms at Higher Level are the single most time-consuming part of the course to repair, because they require a way of seeing rather than a list.

Physics

HL and SL

Five themes from space, time and motion through to nuclear and quantum physics. Uncertainty treatment in the scientific investigation and in the data-analysis section of Paper 1 is the most under-prepared skill in the subject by a wide margin.

Biology

HL and SL

Unity and diversity, form and function, interaction and interdependence, continuity and change. Biology penalises imprecise writing harder than any other science, because an answer that does not name structure, process and consequence scores nothing.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy and real-world engagement. The internal assessment is a portfolio of commentaries on published articles, and the commonest failure is a diagram drawn correctly and then never used in the analysis below it.

Business Management

HL and SL

Human resources, finance and accounts, marketing and operations. The Higher Level extension questions reward application to the stimulus organisation rather than description of a framework, which is where memorisers lose marks predictably.

Computer Science

HL and SL

System fundamentals, computer organisation, networks and computational thinking, with an internally assessed solution. Marks sit in the documentation rather than the code, which consistently surprises strong programmers in a community full of them.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Guided analysis of unseen non-literary texts, a comparative essay, the individual oral and, at Higher Level, an essay. Students lose marks by paraphrasing rather than analysing and by leaving the global issue unnamed in the oral.

Theory of Knowledge

Core component

Assessed through the exhibition and the prescribed-title essay, with the essay externally marked. A tutor who treats Theory of Knowledge as general discussion rather than as an assessed component will not help in the weeks that count.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways families along this corridor use a matched specialist. All are delivered as live one-to-one or small-group video lessons on Gulf Standard Time, which is what makes the arrangement identical from Cedre Villas, Nad Al Sheba or The Villa.

Weekly one-to-one with a named specialist

The standard shape for a Higher Level subject across DP1 and DP2. The value is continuity with someone who knows the paper, so the real test is whether the same person is still teaching in the second term. Ask about continuity before booking rather than after a handover.

  • Same tutor, same slot, no repeated re-explaining
  • Progress reported against criteria rather than effort
  • Pausable around mock weeks and family travel
  • Identical arrangement wherever on the corridor you live

Component-targeted block

Four to six sessions aimed at one assessed component: the Paper 3 extended question, a scientific investigation at the design stage, the individual oral, or uncertainty treatment. These are the sessions where specialist knowledge shows most clearly, because a generalist can teach content and cannot teach an unfamiliar component.

  • One component, with the criteria read out loud
  • Defined end point, so the cost is bounded
  • Easier to place in a full diary than a recurring slot
  • Feedback on the student's own work only

Household match across two curricula

Common along this corridor, where one child may be on the Diploma and another on IGCSE or an Indian-curriculum board. Two separate matches at two different hours cost less and work better than one visiting tutor attempting both, and online scheduling makes the split trivial.

  • Different tutors, different hours, one point of contact
  • No travel cost multiplied across two bookings
  • Each child matched to their own syllabus and level
  • Slots staggered so the week stops competing with itself

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Silicon Oasis

01

What actually differs between these communities

The honest comparison has three columns that matter and one that does not. School supply inside the community differs: Silicon Oasis has a large British-curriculum secondary school and several Indian-curriculum schools within its own boundary, which is genuinely unusual in Dubai. Car dependence differs: The Villa and Dubailand require more driving for routine errands than Silicon Oasis does. And commute to the Diploma centres differs, because Nad Al Sheba and Garhoud hold more of them than Silicon Oasis does.

The column that does not differ is the one families are usually searching on. Access to a Diploma subject specialist at a usable hour is an emirate-level constraint, not a neighbourhood one. Dubai had 227 private schools in 2024-25 across 17 curricula, with the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent of enrolment. Divide that cohort by six subject groups and two levels and the resulting pool is small wherever it is measured from.

This is counter-intuitive because the school position varies so visibly. A family in Nad Al Sheba lives beside a long-established Diploma centre and reasonably infers that Diploma tutors must be plentiful locally. The inference fails for a specific reason: teachers at a school are not an open tutoring pool. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries a comparable code of conduct.

So the comparison below is written to be used for the decision it can actually inform, which is where to live and which school run to accept, rather than the one it cannot, which is where to find a Chemistry HL tutor. For that second question the answer is identical in all six rows, and it is the reason this page exists in the form it does.

02

The tutor pool arithmetic, which is identical everywhere

Take the three filters a visiting tutor has to satisfy at once and apply them honestly. First, subject: they must teach the subject your child needs. Second, level: Higher Level and Standard Level are different jobs in the sciences and in mathematics, and a tutor fluent in one is not automatically useful for the other. Third, geography: they must be willing and able to reach your address between roughly 4pm and 6pm, which is the only window in which a Diploma student is both home and still capable.

Each filter individually leaves a reasonable number of people. Applied together, they do not. For Primary Years and most Middle Years work the intersection is still populated, which is why a local tutor is a sensible choice at those levels. For Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, Chemistry at Higher Level and Physics at Higher Level, the intersection in any single community along this corridor is close to empty, and the emptiness is structural rather than seasonal.

The table below reports the position by subject and level. It is deliberately unflattering in places, because the alternative is implying coverage that does not exist and letting a family discover it in week three. Several rows say that a local match is perfectly achievable, and those rows are as honest as the thin ones. The decision a parent should take from it is which filter to drop, and the answer is almost always geography.

One further point specific to this corridor. Because Silicon Oasis and Academic City hold so many Indian-curriculum schools and university campuses, the local tutoring market here is deeper than average at the budget end and no deeper at the Diploma end. That mismatch produces a particular failure: a family hires inexpensively, sees no grade movement over a term, and concludes that tutoring does not work, when what happened was that the band was wrong for the job.

What the E66 corridor does to a visiting tutor

  • Twenty-five to forty minutes between most points on this corridor in the late afternoon
  • Arrival delay is absorbed by the lesson, not by the fee, and it repeats weekly
  • Visiting tutors cluster appointments and prefer later, easier-to-reach slots
  • A video lesson starts on time identically from every community compared here

This stretch of Dubai is organised around one main road and a handful of junctions, which makes it fast when it is clear and brittle when it is not. A tutor travelling from Mirdif or Garhoud to Silicon Oasis in the late afternoon is dependent on the Ras Al Khor and Nad Al Hamar junctions. A tutor coming from the western side crosses through Dubailand. Either way the journey is twenty-five to forty minutes in good conditions and materially longer in bad ones.

The consequence is not that in-home tutoring is impossible here. It is that the fifteen or twenty minutes lost to arrival come out of the lesson rather than out of the invoice, and that the loss repeats weekly. Across a term that is a meaningful fraction of what was paid for, and it lands on the earlier part of the session, which is the part a student is most able to use. Nobody quotes this and everybody experiences it.

There is a second-order effect on tutor choice. Because the corridor is long and the traffic unpredictable, tutors who do travel tend to cluster their appointments geographically and to prefer later slots that are easier to reach. That means the early window, which is the most valuable one for a Diploma student, is the hardest to buy from a visiting tutor along this road. Families end up with the hour the logistics permit rather than the hour the student needs.

Against that, a video lesson begins at the time it was booked, from Cedre Villas, from Arabian Gates, from The Villa or from Nad Al Sheba, with no difference between them. That is the whole of the operational argument, and it is why the neighbourhood comparison that opened this page ends in the same place for every row. The corridor shapes the school run and the shopping trip; it does not have to shape the tuition.

04

What the travel premium costs, in AED

The market prices this openly enough that a comparison is possible. In-home one-to-one tuition in Dubai is quoted at AED 180 to 350 an hour by Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table and at AED 200 to 500 by independent home tutors, with travel inside the figure. A qualified online subject tutor sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors advertising IB tuition from AED 200 an hour. Budget online runs AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik. All read in October 2026.

The monthly packages make the comparison sharper. Around AED 799 a month buys eight online sessions in this market. AED 1,599 to 1,799 buys four in-home sessions of two hours. The contact time is the same and the price is roughly double, and the difference is not teaching. It is a car, a driver's unpaid hour, and the scheduling fragility described above. On a corridor this spread out, that premium buys less than it would in a dense neighbourhood.

None of these figures is an IB Gram rate. Our own terms follow a free trial lesson and a diagnostic conversation, because quoting one hourly number across Primary Years literacy and Chemistry Higher Level would mislead in both directions. What the table is for is checking a quote you already hold: if it sits above the published specialist band, ask what specifically justifies it and expect an answer about subject and level rather than about quality in general.

The honest caveat is that in-home tuition is not simply worse. A physical presence changes behaviour for some younger students, and a device that cannot be scrolled under the table is a real benefit. Those are worth paying for where they are the actual problem. Where the problem is that nobody has diagnosed which criterion or which paper is losing marks, paying a travel premium does not address it and the money would be better spent on a specialist who does.

Household with two curricula, which is common here

  • Two curricula in one household is common along the Silicon Oasis corridor
  • One tutor for two different boards usually serves one child well and the other adequately
  • Two online matches at two hours typically cost less than one travel-inclusive booking
  • A shared session works only where the two students have the same weakness, not the same syllabus

Silicon Oasis and Academic City hold an unusually mixed set of schools, so a household here frequently runs more than one curriculum. One child on the IB Diploma at a school in Nad Al Sheba or Garhoud, another on IGCSE at the British-curriculum school inside the community, perhaps a third on an Indian board. That is a logistical situation rather than an academic one, and it changes what the right tutoring arrangement looks like.

The instinct is to find one tutor who can cover both children, which looks efficient and usually is not. A tutor strong in IGCSE mathematics is not thereby equipped for Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and a tutor who knows MYP criterion marking is not automatically useful for a CBSE board examination. One person attempting both will serve one child well and the other adequately, and the adequate one is where the money is wasted.

Two separate matches at two different hours is almost always better and often cheaper, because the alternative involves paying a travel-inclusive rate for a session that half the household sits out. With online scheduling, splitting the booking is trivial: two tutors, two slots, one point of contact. On this corridor, where journeys between communities run twenty-five to forty minutes, the saving is larger than it would be in a dense area.

There is one real exception. Where two children are on the same board and within a year or two of each other, a shared small-group session can work well for content that both need, and it lowers the cost per student. The test is whether their weaknesses are the same, not whether their syllabuses are. Two students with different gaps in one session means the hour serves an average that fits neither of them.

06

Who regulates what, and what nobody here is approved by

Private schools in Dubai are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain it is the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools. Sharjah's Private Education Authority and Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge regulate private education in those emirates, and the Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

Those powers are not identical. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so curriculum and fee approval sits with the emirate regulator rather than only inspection. Federally, private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations, which is the rule underneath every emirate's mandatory-subject requirement.

Tutors are regulated separately and individually. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years, covering registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts is published anywhere official.

A provider that describes itself as KHDA approved is not paying itself a vague compliment; it is invoking a KHDA Educational Services Permit, issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. IB Gram holds no such permit, holds no IB, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation, and claims neither. Ask every provider along this corridor the same question and compare what comes back.

The boundary on assessed work, which applies everywhere

  • Allowed: teaching, criteria explanation, feedback on the student's own draft, referencing
  • Not allowed: writing, drafting, completing or supplying any part of assessed work
  • Buy the question-setting hour and the first-draft feedback hour; skip the middle
  • Get the boundary in writing from whichever provider you choose, including this one

A tutor may teach content, explain each lettered criterion, interrogate a research question until it is answerable, model a comparable example on a different topic, read a draft the student has written and say where it falls short, and teach referencing properly. A tutor may not write, draft, complete, rewrite or supply any part of an internal assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or any other assessed work. That is the whole of the rule and there is no premium tier that changes it.

The reason is where the consequence lands. Internal assessment is marked against published criteria by the school's own teacher and moderated by the IB, and the student declares the work as their own. Work that is not theirs is malpractice, and the finding attaches to the student rather than to whoever was paid for it. One site competing for these queries sells completed internal assessments at AED 3,750, which is a malpractice outcome with a price tag attached.

Practically this changes how coursework support should be bought. The hours worth paying for sit at the start, where a weak research question is still cheap to correct, and at the point of a complete first draft, where feedback can still be acted on. The hours in between are usually someone watching a student type. A four-hour total across a Diploma internal assessment is a reasonable figure; a twenty-hour total is a sign that something other than teaching is being sold.

Ask any provider to put the boundary in writing before money moves, and keep the reply. This is not a formality. A provider willing to write down exactly what it will and will not do with assessed work has told you something about how it operates, and a provider that deflects the request has told you something more useful still. Apply it to us before you apply it to anybody else.

Starting from Dubai Silicon Oasis, and what we will not claim

  • Name the component, not just the subject; it is what the match turns on
  • Two children on two curricula usually means two matches, not one tutor
  • Free trial lesson, written gap note, then a decision
  • No home visits in the UAE, no UAE office, no board or regulator approval claimed

Send the subject, the level and the component that is going wrong, plus the hour your child is realistically at a desk. If there are two children on two curricula, say so, because the right answer is usually two matches rather than one. We then match tutors to those exact combinations and run a free trial lesson as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, at no cost, and you get a written note afterwards setting out where the marks are going.

The limits are stated rather than buried. IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. There is no UAE office, centre or branch, and we do not claim one. We hold no regulator or board approval. We publish no IB examination or results dates, because the IB's own site blocks automated checking and an unverified date that a parent plans around is worse than silence; your child's IB coordinator holds the real calendar.

We also disclose coverage. The after-school window on Gulf Standard Time is the busiest part of the week across the entire UAE, and within it Chemistry HL, Physics HL and Mathematics AA HL fill first. When your preferred combination is unavailable you get the nearest slot, a named wait, or an honest no. No researched competitor in this market discloses a coverage limit anywhere, and several route UAE parents to an Indian phone number without saying where delivery happens.

Finally, the comparison this page opened with. If you are choosing between Silicon Oasis, Academic City, The Villa and Nad Al Sheba, choose on schools, commute and housing, because those genuinely differ. Do not choose on tutoring access, because it does not. That is the single most useful thing a page about this corridor can tell you, and it is the reason the recommendation at the end is the same in every row of the table.

Where we tutor

The corridor compared

Six communities along the same stretch of eastern Dubai, compared on the things that affect a tutoring decision: school supply, how car-dependent the daily routine is, and how deep the local tutor market runs.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

Unusually self-contained, with a large British-curriculum secondary school and several Indian-curriculum schools inside the community, plus apartment and villa stock in Cedre Villas and Silicon Gardens. Daily logistics are easier here than almost anywhere nearby; Diploma specialist supply is no better.

Dubai International Academic City

A university district immediately south, with secondary provision attached. The concentration of undergraduates is why Dubai's budget tutoring band exists at AED 33 to 65 an hour, and it is genuinely useful for homework supervision rather than Diploma teaching.

The Villa and Dubailand

Villa communities west of the corridor that have added school provision quickly. More car-dependent than Silicon Oasis, with longer internal journeys, which makes a visiting tutor's arrival time less predictable and the online alternative correspondingly stronger.

Nad Al Sheba

Holds two long-established schools including an IB continuum school, so it has the deepest Diploma teaching presence on this stretch. That improves school choice and does not translate into available evening tutors, because teachers at a school are not an open tutoring pool.

Mirdif

North-east of the corridor, the deepest general tutoring market in eastern Dubai and home to an IB continuum school. Twenty-five to forty minutes from Silicon Oasis depending on the hour, which is far enough to make a weekday visiting arrangement fragile.

Dubai Festival City and Garhoud

Further north along the same road, with an IB continuum school and an American-curriculum Diploma centre. Reaching Silicon Oasis from here in the late afternoon is a twenty-five to forty minute proposition, and worse on a bad day at the Ras Al Khor junction.

International City

Dense and price-sensitive, immediately north of the corridor. Well served at the budget end of the tutoring market and thin at the specialist end, which is a supply pattern rather than a comment on the community.

Al Warqa and Al Rashidiya

Established housing between Silicon Oasis and Festival City, with a mix of curricula. Plenty of British and Indian curriculum tutors and few who have taught the current IB Diploma courses, which is the distinction that actually matters.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Silicon Oasis

Silicon Oasis and Academic City

GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis is one of the larger British-curriculum secondary schools in eastern Dubai and sits inside the community, with The Indian Academy and Indian International School nearby, and Dubai English Speaking College in Academic City. A household here can be running two or three curricula at once, which is an argument for a platform match rather than a single local tutor.

  • GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis
  • The Indian Academy
  • Indian International School Dubai Silicon Oasis
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Nad Al Sheba, The Villa and Dubailand

GEMS Modern Academy at Nad Al Sheba is one of the longer-established IB schools in the emirate and Repton School Dubai sits on the same stretch, with GEMS FirstPoint School at The Villa and newer provision across Dubailand. Most Diploma requests from this corridor come from this cluster rather than from Silicon Oasis itself.

  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Repton School Dubai
  • GEMS FirstPoint School
  • Vernus International School

Festival City, Garhoud and Mirdif

Deira International School runs the IB continuum to Diploma, Universal American School offers it on an American spine, and Uptown International School runs the continuum in Mirdif. Twenty-five to forty minutes north of Silicon Oasis, which is near enough to share a tutor market and far enough to make a weekday visit unreliable.

Schools are named here only to describe the education market along this corridor; IB Gram claims no affiliation with, endorsement by or relationship to any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say the subject, the level and the component

Chemistry Higher Level is a different request from Chemistry Standard Level, and trouble with Paper 2 extended response is a different request from trouble with the scientific investigation. Those three facts determine the match and let us tell you immediately whether the combination is one we can cover.

  2. 02

Declare the household, not just the child

Along this corridor many families run two or three curricula at once. Telling us all of them means we propose two matches at two hours rather than one tutor stretched across two boards, which is cheaper in practice and better for the child who would otherwise get the adequate half.

  3. 03

Take the free trial at your real hour

One live one-to-one video session at no cost, booked at the time you actually intend to use rather than at a flattering weekend slot. A 5pm Tuesday after the journey home from a Garhoud or Nad Al Sheba campus tells you whether your child can work then at all.

  4. 04

    Read the written gap note

A short account of where marks are being lost, by topic and component, with a recommended number of hours and a shape. It is written to be argued with. A note that recommends the maximum in every case is a sales document rather than a diagnosis, and you are entitled to say so.

  5. 05

    Review against criteria each term

Check progress against the published criteria for the subject rather than against how hard the student appears to be working. Cut hours where a subject has stabilised, add intensity where a mock has exposed something specific, and expect the plan to look different in the second term from the first.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The comparison is done honestly

Silicon Oasis, Academic City, The Villa, Nad Al Sheba, Mirdif and Festival City differ on school supply and commute and do not differ on Diploma specialist access. Saying so plainly is more useful than implying that one neighbourhood is better served than another, which is what a local-SEO page usually does.

Pool depth published by subject and level

Primary Years and most Middle Years work can be matched locally. Chemistry HL, Physics HL and Mathematics AA HL cannot, anywhere on this corridor. The table says which is which, including the rows where hiring locally is the better answer.

The travel premium priced, not asserted

In-home tuition is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour across this market with travel inside the figure, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online tutor. On a corridor where journeys run twenty-five to forty minutes, that premium buys a later start rather than a better lesson.

Built for mixed-curriculum households

Two children on two boards is the normal case here, and one tutor attempting both serves one of them adequately. Two online matches at two hours cost less than a travel-inclusive booking that half the household sits out, and the split is trivial to schedule.

Coverage limits disclosed

Higher Level sciences and Mathematics AA HL fill first in the after-school window on Gulf Standard Time. You get the nearest slot, a named wait, or an honest no. No competitor researched in this market discloses a coverage limit anywhere on their pages.

No borrowed authority, no invented dates

We explain what KHDA, ADEK, SPEA and the Ministry of Education each govern and claim approval from none. We publish no IB session or results dates, because the IB's site blocks automated checking and a wrong date a parent acts on is the worst error available.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Silicon Oasis: your questions answered

Is IB tutoring easier to find in Dubai Silicon Oasis than in Academic City or The Villa?+

No, and that is the useful finding. Those communities differ genuinely on school supply, car dependence and commute, but access to a Diploma subject specialist is an emirate-level constraint rather than a neighbourhood one. The International Baccalaureate was 7 per cent of Dubai private school enrolment in 2024-25, and dividing that cohort by subject group and level produces a small pool wherever it is measured from. Choose between these areas on schools and housing, not on tutoring access.

Do your tutors travel to Cedre Villas or Silicon Gardens?+

No. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. Lessons across Dubai Silicon Oasis are delivered as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time. On this corridor that matters more than usual, because journeys between most points run twenty-five to forty minutes in the late afternoon and the delay comes out of the lesson rather than out of the fee, weekly, for a whole term.

Nad Al Sheba has long-established IB schools. Are there more IB tutors there?+

More schools, not more available tutors, and the distinction matters. Teachers at a school are not an open tutoring pool: ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tuition work permit carries a comparable code of conduct. So living beside a Diploma centre improves school choice and does not change whether a Chemistry Higher Level specialist is free at 5pm on a Tuesday nearby.

Which IB subjects can we realistically hire locally along this corridor?+

Primary Years literacy and numeracy, most Middle Years mathematics and sciences, and Diploma Economics or Business Management are all achievable locally. Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, Chemistry at Higher Level and Physics at Higher Level mostly are not, in Silicon Oasis or in any of the neighbouring communities. For Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay process coaching the constraint is experience rather than geography, since few tutors anywhere have supervised one.

What does the in-home premium actually cost compared with online here?+

In-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to 500 by independent home tutors, with travel inside the figure, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor and IB from AED 200 at Unitors. The packages are starker: about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Same contact time, roughly double the price, all read in October 2026.

We have one child on the IB and one on IGCSE. Can one tutor do both?+

Usually not well, which is a common situation along this corridor given the mix of schools. A tutor strong in IGCSE mathematics is not thereby equipped for Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and one who knows MYP criterion marking is not automatically useful for a different board's examinations. Two online matches at two different hours typically cost less than one travel-inclusive booking that half the household sits out, and scheduling the split is straightforward.

Is the budget tutoring available near Academic City good value for Diploma work?+

For the right job, yes; for Diploma teaching, usually not. The concentration of university campuses is why Dubai's budget band exists at AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik, and that band is genuinely effective for homework supervision, content recall and drilling mathematics that should already be automatic. Pointed at a Higher Level science it tends to produce a term of reassurance and no grade movement, after which the specialist is hired anyway with less time left.

How quickly can a Silicon Oasis family be matched to an IB tutor?+

For subjects with reasonable supply, usually within a few days, because the constraint is a mutually workable hour rather than finding a person. For Chemistry Higher Level, Physics Higher Level or Mathematics AA at Higher Level in the busiest after-school window, longer, and you will be given a named wait instead of a vague reassurance. If speed matters more than the exact hour, say so, because a weekend or earlier-afternoon slot often opens the match immediately.

Does a tutor working in Dubai Silicon Oasis need a permit?+

Yes. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years, covering registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no schedule of amounts is published. Because it costs nothing, ask the question and expect a straight answer.

Our Silicon Oasis school deadline is close. Can a tutor draft part of the IA?+

No, and no deadline changes it. A tutor may teach the content, explain each lettered criterion, press on a research question until it is answerable, model a comparable example on a different topic, read a draft your child has written and say where it falls short, and teach referencing. A tutor may not write, draft, complete or supply any part of it. The work is declared as the student's own and moderated by the IB, so the consequence falls on your child.

Is IB Gram KHDA approved, and is there an office near Silicon Oasis?+

No to both. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, requiring initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. IB Gram holds no such permit, no IB, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation, and no UAE office, centre or branch. What we do is explain what each regulator governs so you can check any provider's claim against the authority rather than against its own marketing.

Does online tutoring work for a student who prefers someone in the room?+

For Diploma work it often works better, because a shared screen beats a shared notebook. Both people see the same working at the same size, a past-paper question can be annotated live, and the published criteria can sit open beside the student's own draft. What it needs is a quiet room, a charged device and occasional parental attention. What it removes is travel, late arrivals and a radius limit on who is allowed to teach your child.

When is the best hour to book a Diploma session in this part of Dubai?+

Between about 4pm and 6pm, after a half hour for food and decompression and before a student stops being able to reason. From Silicon Oasis to a school in Nad Al Sheba or Garhoud, arrival is typically mid to late afternoon depending on the route, so a 4.30pm or 5pm start is the realistic target. That window is also the busiest in the whole UAE, so book it before term starts rather than hunting for it in October.

Do you publish IB exam dates for Dubai Silicon Oasis schools?+

No, deliberately. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, and an unverified date that a parent plans around is the worst kind of error a tutoring page can make. UAE schools sit the May examinations, and your child's IB coordinator holds the actual windows and the internal deadlines, which are the dates that actually govern when tuition is worth buying.

What should we expect from the first month of IB tutoring?+

Three things, none of them a grade. Your child should be able to name which component is costing them marks. You should hold a written note saying the same thing, by topic and component. And one element of technique should visibly improve, because technique moves faster than content does. Grade movement takes longer than a month and nobody can promise it, so a provider that opens with a predicted grade has told you how it sells rather than how it teaches.

Compare the neighbourhoods, then stop comparing them

Silicon Oasis, Academic City, The Villa, Nad Al Sheba, Mirdif and Festival City are genuinely different places to live, with different schools and different journeys. They are not different places to find an IB Diploma specialist, because the scarcity is emirate-wide and a driving radius is the filter that breaks the match. So use the comparison for the decision it can inform, and for the tutoring question send the subject, the level and the component. The free trial lesson costs nothing, runs on live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, and works the same from any of those addresses.
