IGCSE Tutor near me in Business Bay

Parents who type "IGCSE tutor near me" in Business Bay are usually asking a question about availability and not about distance. The nine towers either side of the canal hold a few hundred Year 10 and Year 11 candidates spread across Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel, Core and Extended, nine or ten subjects each. IB Gram matches your child to a subject specialist for the exact syllabus code and tier they are entered for, and teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Business Bay

What "near me" is really asking, and the better question underneath it

An IGCSE tutor near me in Business Bay is one of the most-typed tutoring phrases in central Dubai, and almost nobody who types it actually wants a short drive. What they want is somebody who can start this week, who knows the paper their child sits, and who can be checked. Distance is a proxy for all three, and it is a poor one. A tutor eleven minutes away in Downtown Dubai may have never taught Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics 4MA1 Higher tier. A specialist who has taught it for nine years is reachable in four seconds over a video call.

Business Bay makes this especially clear. The district is a residential and commercial tower cluster along the Dubai Water Canal with almost no schools inside its own boundary. Families here already drive out of the district every morning, to Sobha Hartland, to Al Safa, to Al Quoz, to Al Jaddaf, to Academic City. The school run has already dissolved the idea that your child's education happens within walking distance. Applying a radius filter to tutoring, after accepting a twenty-five minute school commute, is an inconsistency worth noticing.

So this page is written as a comparison, because that is the honest way to answer the query. It compares Business Bay with the districts immediately around it and shows that the answer comes out the same in each of them. It compares a local pool of tutors with a national one, subject by subject. It compares Core and Extended, Cambridge and Edexcel, grades 9-1 and A*-G. And it compares what the Dubai market charges by the month rather than by the hour, because a monthly figure is the number a family actually budgets against.

The one thing we will not do is pretend. IB Gram delivers tuition to UAE families as one-to-one online lessons over live video. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run only in India. If a tutor arriving at your tower in Business Bay is a requirement rather than a preference, the market has providers who do that and this page gives you the rates and the questions to ask them. If what you want is the right specialist for a named paper, online is not a compromise in this market, it is the only way to get one reliably.

Everything below is written for a parent who wants to act. The tables carry the numbers. Market rates are attributed to the provider or the source that published them, never presented as our price list. Regulatory statements are attributed to u.ae, KHDA and MoHRE, and where a fact could not be verified against an official source we say so and leave it out rather than guess.

At a glance

  • Business Bay has no IGCSE school inside its boundary; every family here already commutes to one
  • Core and Extended tier, not tutor proximity, sets the grade ceiling your child can reach
  • Dubai market rates run roughly AED 45-150 budget online, AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor, AED 180-500 for an in-home visit
  • Five IGCSE subjects at grade E or 3 or above count towards UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, and Arabic and Islamic Education are excluded from that five
  • UAE candidates sit the June and November series; the Cambridge February-March series is offered to India only
  • Lessons here are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, never a home visit
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A Business Bay family is usually looking at IGCSE because the school runs a UK curriculum through to Year 11. The programmes below are the three routes most often in play in this corridor, with what each one means for a student living in the towers along the canal rather than near a campus.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Years 10-11

Two years of linear courses examined at the end, with Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel the two boards Dubai schools use most. Most students carry eight to ten subjects. Mathematics, the sciences and English Language are usually the ones that decide whether a sixth-form choice stays open, and they are also where tiering decisions bite hardest. Grades arrive as 9-1 on most Edexcel International specifications and as A*-G on many Cambridge ones, which is a frequent source of parental confusion.

In Dubai the IGCSE year sits under KHDA inspection and alongside the mandatory UAE subjects. Business Bay students travel to schools in Sobha Hartland, Al Safa, Al Quoz and Al Jaddaf, which means a 3.15pm finish can still mean a 4.10pm arrival home. We schedule from 4.30pm so that a session is not taught to a child who is still in a car.

CHECKPOINTAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Cambridge Lower Secondary, Years 7-9

The three years before IGCSE, assessed by Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests. Checkpoint results are the single most useful piece of evidence a family has when the school proposes Core rather than Extended tier a year later. A Year 9 who is scoring in the lower bands in mathematics has a full year to change the tier conversation, and a year is enough. A Year 11 does not have that year.

Cambridge runs Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. For Business Bay families the practical point is that the October window gives a Year 9 a diagnostic before the tier decision rather than after it, which is when most parents here first hear the word Core.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma or A Level, Years 12-13

Where the IGCSE year is pointing. The split matters because the entry requirements differ: an IB Diploma school will usually want grade 6 or 7 at IGCSE for a Higher Level science, while an A Level school may accept a 6. Extended tier mathematics is effectively a prerequisite for IB Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and a Core-tier student cannot reach the grades that route needs.

Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places. For a central-corridor family that widens the sixth-form choice considerably, which makes the Year 11 grade profile more consequential rather than less.

Mandatory UAE subjects

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies run alongside the licensed international curriculum in every Dubai private school. They are timetabled lessons with real reports, and they are the subjects Business Bay families most often forget to ask about until a report card lands. KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are prohibited.

KHDA's requirements must be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. Note that these subjects do not count towards the five IGCSE subjects the Ministry of Education requires for British-track equivalency, so they matter for the school report and not for the equivalency file.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects Business Bay families ask for most, with what each assessment actually rewards. A tutor who can name the paper and the tier is worth more than one who can name your street, which is the whole argument of this page compressed into a sentence.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Edexcel 4MA1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

The subject where tier decides everything. Extended and Higher tier carry the higher grade ceiling and the algebra, trigonometry and calculus-adjacent content that a sixth-form science course assumes. Marks go missing on multi-step problems where working is not shown and on the transformation and vector questions that appear late in the paper.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Edexcel 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity and electromagnetism are where the Extended tier separates from the Core, and where most Business Bay students lose their grade. The practical or alternative-to-practical component rewards precise description of method, variables and sources of error, which is a writing skill rather than a physics one and responds quickly to coaching.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Edexcel 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations, electrolysis and organic chemistry account for a disproportionate share of lost Extended marks. The common failure is arithmetic confidence rather than conceptual understanding: a student who can explain electrolysis will still drop four marks on a titration calculation under time pressure.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Edexcel 4BI1)

Core and Extended

The highest content volume of the three sciences and the one most often treated as memorisation. Extended-tier marks are won on the command terms: explain, suggest and compare each want a different shape of answer, and a student who writes a description where an explanation was asked for scores nothing for correct biology.

English Language (Cambridge 0500 / 0990, Edexcel 4EA1)

First Language and Second Language

Directed writing and the reading responses carry the marks, and both are assessed against criteria the student has usually never read. A session spent on the mark scheme rather than on more practice essays often moves a grade faster, because the issue is almost always structure rather than vocabulary.

English Literature (Edexcel 4ET1 / Cambridge 0475)

Single award

Textual reference density is the scoring variable. Strong students write perceptively about theme and score in the middle band because they quote too little and analyse language too generally. Closed-book papers need memorised quotations, which is a timetable problem a tutor can structure.

Business Studies and Economics

Single award

Both reward application to the stimulus material and evaluation that reaches a judgement. The pattern in Dubai is strong theoretical knowledge and weak evaluation, because evaluation marks require committing to a position and justifying it rather than listing both sides neutrally.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478 / Edexcel 4CP0)

Single award

Pseudocode and trace tables are the mechanical marks and the most recoverable ones. Students who code fluently in Python still lose marks writing pseudocode to the board's conventions, and the theory paper on data representation and networks is frequently under-revised.

Additional Mathematics and Further Pure

Single award

Taken by strong Extended candidates as an extra, and the usual preparation for Higher Level mathematics in the Diploma. It assumes complete fluency in the Extended syllabus, so a student who is still consolidating 0580 content will struggle regardless of hours spent.

Geography and History

Single award

Both are source and data papers as much as content papers. Geography rewards accurate case-study detail including named places and figures; History rewards source evaluation on provenance and purpose. Vague case studies are the most common reason a well-revised student lands two grades below expectation.

Arabic as an Additional Language

MoE mandatory stream

Required in Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and taught in separate classes from Arabic as a first language under KHDA rules. It does not count towards the five subjects the Ministry of Education requires for British-track equivalency, but it does appear on the school report and in progression decisions.

Accounting and Information Technology

Single award

Both are precision subjects where method marks dominate. Accounting rewards correctly formatted statements even when a figure is wrong; ICT rewards following the task specification exactly. Students lose marks to presentation conventions rather than to misunderstanding, which makes them unusually fast to improve.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a Business Bay family can buy IGCSE support, with what each actually delivers. All IB Gram tuition in the UAE is one-to-one over live video; the other two are described so you can compare honestly and ask the right questions wherever you buy.

One-to-one online, weekly through the year

The standard shape: sixty or ninety minutes a week per subject with the same tutor, following the student's own school scheme of work and internal deadlines. Timed to Gulf Standard Time and scheduled after the commute, not during it. Taught over live video with a shared whiteboard, so written working is visible to the tutor as it happens rather than photographed afterwards.

  • Same tutor each week, matched to one syllabus code and tier
  • Sessions from 4.30pm to 9pm GST on weeknights, weekend mornings available
  • Free trial lesson before any commitment
  • Written working shared live, not sent as photographs after the fact

Intensive blocks before a series

Four to eight weeks of two or three sessions a week, built backwards from a known exam window and aimed at a specific paper. Suited to a Year 11 who is secure on content but losing marks on timing, command terms or working. Past papers are worked under exam conditions and marked against the published criteria, with the tutor naming where each mark went rather than issuing a score.

  • Built backwards from the June or November series
  • Papers worked to time, then marked against published criteria
  • Diagnostic focus: which marks are being lost, and why
  • Short commitment with a defined endpoint

Multi-subject support across one timetable

A Year 11 carrying nine subjects rarely needs help with all of them. Where two or three are weak, separate specialists work to one shared calendar so that mock weeks, coursework deadlines and the exam run are not double-booked. One point of contact coordinates the schedule; the teaching itself stays with the subject specialist for each paper.

  • A specialist per subject rather than one tutor covering several
  • A single shared calendar across tutors
  • Load reduced in mock weeks instead of added to
  • Priority set by grade gap, not by parent anxiety

What we do not offer in the UAE

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the United Arab Emirates. There is no visit to a Business Bay apartment, no tutor at a tower lobby, no centre you can drive to. Home visiting is a service we run only in India. We also do not write, complete or edit assessed coursework for any student on any board, and we will not accept that work if it is offered.

  • No in-home visits anywhere in the UAE
  • No UAE office, branch or tuition centre
  • No written, completed or ghost-edited coursework
  • No grade guarantees of any kind

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in Business Bay

The tutors below teach Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE one-to-one over live video. What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Business Bay

01

The real constraint is availability, not distance

  • A twenty-minute radius around Business Bay contains no IGCSE school at all
  • Two boards times two tiers times ten subjects is forty distinct teaching specialisms
  • The binding constraint is a free hour in a specialist's week, not kilometres
  • Dropping the radius widens the pool without lowering the standard

An IGCSE tutor near me in Business Bay is a search for availability wearing the costume of a search for proximity. The question that decides whether your child improves is whether somebody who has taught their exact paper has a free hour at 5pm on a Tuesday. Distance has nothing to do with that, and in a district with no school inside it, distance is not even a proxy.

Here is the arithmetic that matters. Business Bay and its neighbouring districts might hold a few hundred IGCSE candidates. Those candidates are split across two boards, two tiers and nine or ten subjects each. A parent who needs Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry 4CH1 at Higher tier, on a Wednesday at 5.30pm, is asking a pool of a few dozen locally available tutors to contain one exact match with one exact free hour. Frequently it does not, and the family books whoever is free. That is how a child entered for 4CH1 ends up being taught Cambridge 0620 content by someone who is competent and wrong.

Removing the radius changes the shape of the problem rather than the standard of the tutor. The pool becomes everyone who teaches that paper and is awake in the Gulf timezone window, which is a pool measured in hundreds rather than dozens. The match becomes specific rather than approximate. The table below sets out what each filter a parent applies does to the pool they are choosing from, which is a calculation no competitor in this market publishes.

Business Bay against the districts either side, compared honestly

This page's angle is comparison, so here is the comparison done properly rather than as a list of neighbourhood adjectives. Six districts in the central corridor, compared on the four things that could plausibly change the tutoring answer: whether there is a school inside the district, what the commute does to the evening, which boards the local schools run, and what the local in-home tutor pool looks like.

The finding is dull and useful. Only one variable genuinely differs across these districts, and it is the realistic start time of a weeknight session. Sobha Hartland can begin at 4pm because the school run is five minutes. Meydan cannot begin before 5pm. Everything else, the board mix, the tier decisions, the subjects families struggle with, the shortage of specialists for any named paper, is constant across all six. A family moving from Business Bay to Downtown Dubai or to Culture Village would face the same tutoring market on the other side of the move.

That matters because it tells you what to optimise. If the only thing your postcode controls is what time you can start, then choose on everything else: the specialist's match to the paper, the permit position, whether the trial lesson produced a diagnosis or a sales pitch. And choose a delivery format where start time is negotiable rather than dictated by somebody else's drive across Al Khail Road at rush hour.

One further observation from the table below, since it is the kind of thing a neighbourhood page usually hides. The districts with schools inside them, Sobha Hartland, Al Quoz and Meydan, do not have deeper local tutor pools than the districts without. Proximity to a campus produces proximity to teachers, not availability of specialists for a named syllabus code at a named hour. Several Business Bay families arrive at this conclusion on their own after a term of trying to book locally, which is an expensive way to learn it.

03

Core or Extended: the decision that sets the ceiling

  • Tier caps the awarded grade; effort inside the wrong tier cannot lift the ceiling
  • Ask the school in writing which tier your child is entered for, subject by subject
  • Checkpoint results from Year 9 are the most useful evidence in that conversation
  • A Year 9 can change the decision; a Year 11 in term two usually optimises within it

No tutor, however close, can undo a tier decision made too late. Cambridge IGCSE subjects are frequently tiered into Core and Extended, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics into Foundation and Higher. The tier a student is entered for caps the grade they can be awarded. This is the single most consequential piece of information on a Business Bay child's academic record, and in our experience it is the piece parents are least often told clearly.

The practical version runs like this. A Core-tier candidate sits different papers covering a reduced syllabus, and the grade ceiling is lower than Extended's. If a sixth-form science course asks for grade 6, and the Core ceiling sits below that, the course closes regardless of effort. The school usually makes the entry decision in Year 10 or early Year 11 based on internal assessment, and once entries are submitted the window narrows sharply.

So the first job on this page is to tell you to go and find out. Ask the school, in writing, which tier your child is entered for in each tiered subject, and what evidence that decision rests on. If the answer is Core in a subject your child needs for sixth form, you have a conversation to have and possibly a year in which to change it. A Year 9 has time. A Year 11 in the second term usually does not, and the honest advice then is to maximise the grade within the tier rather than fight the entry.

Reading the report: 9-1, A*-G and what a grade actually says

  • A child can hold 9-1 and A*-G grades in the same year group
  • Published equivalences between the two scales are approximate
  • Component marks, not subject grades, tell you what to fix
  • Ask the school in writing; the data already exists

A Business Bay parent frequently holds a report with two grading scales on it, because a child can sit Pearson Edexcel International GCSE subjects graded 9-1 alongside Cambridge subjects graded A*-G in the same year. The two scales are not interchangeable and the rough equivalences published by the boards are approximate rather than exact. Treating a 7 as an A is close enough for a conversation and wrong enough to misread a sixth-form requirement.

What matters for tutoring is different again: not the letter or the number, but which component produced it. A grade 5 in physics built on a strong theory paper and a weak alternative-to-practical is a different problem from a grade 5 built on an even performance across both. The first is four weeks of method and error-source writing. The second is a content gap. The grade alone does not distinguish them, and this is why a first session should produce a diagnosis rather than a lesson.

Ask the school for component-level marks, not just the subject grade. Most will provide them on request, and many report them routinely without parents noticing which column means what. Those numbers are the only honest basis for deciding whether tutoring is worth buying and for which subject, and they are free.

There is a second reading problem on Dubai reports, which is the predicted or target grade sitting beside the attained one. A target grade is a school's internal projection, generated from prior attainment data, and it is not a promise from the board. Parents in the central corridor sometimes buy tutoring to close a gap to a target that was never a realistic entry requirement for anything their child wants to do. Check the target against the actual sixth-form requirement before spending money on the difference between them.

What the Dubai market costs per month, not per hour

Hourly rates are how tutoring is advertised and monthly totals are how families actually budget, so this section leads with the month. Bestimate's "Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026" rate table puts monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session at roughly AED 240 to 600 for budget tutoring, AED 600 to 1,200 for mid-range, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Published monthly packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Working back to the hour from those monthly figures: EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 at the budget end of online tutoring. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200 for a qualified subject tutor online. Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one visits at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors reaching AED 200 to 500 once travel is priced in. TutorChase quotes AED 270 for specialist work and BartyED AED 650 at the premium named-tutor end. Every one of those figures belongs to the provider named beside it and was read in October 2026.

The gap between the online band and the in-home band is the travel premium, and a Business Bay family should know what it buys. It buys the tutor's drive to your tower, the parking, the lift, and the twenty minutes at the end when nobody wants to be rude about the time. It does not buy a better specialist. Priced monthly, a family paying the in-home premium for two subjects is spending the difference on logistics rather than on teaching hours. IB Gram does not publish a UAE price list on these pages; the free trial lesson and the consultation exist so a family can see the teaching before discussing money.

The two series a UAE candidate sits, and the one that is not for you

Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level examinations in a June series and a November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and November each year. Those are the two windows a Dubai candidate sits, and a Business Bay family planning a term should plan against one of them specifically rather than against a vague sense of summer.

One warning that costs families real money. The Cambridge February/March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates do not sit it, and any tutoring plan built around a February-March exam window is built on the wrong country's calendar. If a provider quotes you a March deadline for a Dubai candidate, that is a signal about the provider.

Two further operational facts worth more than most of the advice in this market. Cambridge allocates every examination centre to one of six administrative zones, and it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your centre's zone; Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong zone timetable. And Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which is why the table below names milestones rather than restating dates that can be revised. Read the exact dates from the board's live timetable and confirm your own centre's zone with the school's examinations officer.

Dates that are already in the past can be stated safely because they are checkable, and they show the shape of a series better than any projection. Pearson's November 2026 final International GCSE timetable ran to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026. November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. That pattern, a November sitting with results in the following January, is the resit route a Year 11 who misses a June grade will actually use.

Equivalency: the five subjects the Ministry of Education counts

This is a gap in this market wide enough to drive through. UAE Ministry of Education equivalency decides whether an IGCSE profile is recognised for university admission and employment purposes in the UAE, and most tutoring pages in Dubai do not mention it at all. One ranking competitor states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects. The sourced requirement is five.

For the British track, students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. That is the whole British-track rule in two sentences, and it is the reason a Business Bay family should check the subject list in Year 10 rather than after results.

Two cautions. First, there is no published IB points threshold for equivalency that we have been able to read on an official Ministry source, so this page does not state one; confirm any IB figure on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority. Second, IB Gram does not perform, submit or guarantee equivalency or attestation for anybody. We describe the requirement and point you to the official channel. Tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, for university admission or for school progression, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling urgency.

The permit question, and what a parent can actually verify

  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free and valid for two years
  • Applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system
  • No fine schedule is published, so no figure should be quoted to you
  • A tutoring provider cannot hold KHDA authorisation for tutoring without a training-institute permit and premises

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service page calls it "Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing", lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no amount is quoted here; figures circulating online for this could not be verified against an official source. The position parents need is simpler than the paperwork: the permit exists, it is free, and a tutor who will not discuss it is telling you something.

One boundary families in the central corridor ask about often. Abu Dhabi's ADEK professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Treat that as press-reported and verify it against the current ADEK policy document before relying on the exact wording. Either way, hiring your child's own class teacher privately is not the clever shortcut it appears to be. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation, licence or partnership, and we would not describe ourselves as approved by any of them. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation issued to training institutes with premises, which we do not operate in the UAE.

Academic honesty, and the line a tutor does not cross

  • Teaching, criteria explanation, modelling on a different example and draft feedback: allowed
  • Writing text, supplying sentences to copy, editing to completion: not allowed, ever
  • No syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes supplied as downloads from us
  • A provider selling completed coursework is disqualified by that offer alone

This matters on an IGCSE page because coursework and practical components still carry marks that must be the student's own work. A tutor may teach the content, explain the criteria, model a technique on a different example, and give feedback on the student's draft. A tutor may not write the text, supply sentences to be copied, or edit a piece to completion. The distinction is not a style preference; a breach is a malpractice finding against the student, and the student carries the consequence.

There are providers in this market that cross the line openly, including one that advertises completed Internal Assessments for sale. If a tutoring provider offers to produce assessed work, that offer is the reason not to use them, whatever else they do well. IB Gram will not write, complete or ghost-edit coursework for any student on any board, and will not accept such work if a family offers it.

We also do not publish or supply board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads. We reference them and link to the official source, because reproducing them is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, a malpractice exposure. Your child's school has legitimate access to all of it, which is another reason the first session should start with the school's own documents rather than with somebody's photocopies.

For a Business Bay family the practical test is easy to apply at the trial lesson. Ask the tutor what they would do with a half-finished piece of coursework. The right answer involves reading it, naming which criterion is underserved, and setting the student a task. The wrong answer involves the tutor taking the document away. One of those answers protects your child's entry and the other puts it at risk, and you can hear the difference inside a minute.

10

Coverage, matching and the honest answer when it is no

  • Coverage is disclosed before the trial, not discovered after the first invoice
  • The 5pm to 7pm GST window fills first; 4.30pm and after 7.30pm are the open hours
  • Bring board, syllabus code, tier and component marks to the consultation
  • A trial lesson should end with a diagnosis you can read, not a recommendation to buy more

No tutoring platform covers every paper at every hour, and the ones that imply otherwise are simply not telling you about the gap. Our position is to disclose it. Core subjects at both boards, both tiers, are reliably covered: mathematics, the three sciences, English Language and Literature, business studies, economics, computer science, geography and history. Narrower subjects are less certain, and specific hours in the 5pm to 7pm Gulf Standard Time peak fill first.

If no specialist for your child's paper is free at the hour you need, you will be told that at the enquiry rather than matched to the nearest available person. Where a UAE-based tutor for a niche subject is not available, the match may be a specialist elsewhere teaching into the Gulf timezone, and that is stated before the trial rather than discovered afterwards. For a Business Bay family that trade-off is usually easy: the same timezone, the same paper, a specialist who has taught it.

The practical first step is small. Bring three things to the consultation: which board and syllabus code each subject is, which tier your child is entered for, and the most recent component-level marks. With those three, a diagnosis is possible in the trial lesson. Without them, the first two sessions get spent working out what the problem is, which is an avoidable expense and the most common one in this market.

It is also worth saying what a sensible volume looks like, because families in this corridor frequently over-buy at the start. Two subjects at one session a week each is a load a Year 11 can absorb alongside nine courses and a thirty-minute commute. Four subjects at two sessions a week is not, and the usual result is attendance that collapses by week five. Start narrow on the subjects where the grade gap is widest and add later if the calendar genuinely has room.

Where we tutor

Business Bay and the districts either side

The comparison that answers the query. These are the districts a Business Bay family would consider moving between or already drives through, with what genuinely differs for a Year 11 candidate in each. The honest finding is that the tutoring answer does not change across any of them.

Business Bay

Tower living along the Dubai Water Canal with no IGCSE school inside the district. Every family commutes out, most towards Sobha Hartland, Al Safa or Al Quoz. A realistic weeknight session starts at 4.30pm or later.

Downtown Dubai

One canal crossing away and operationally identical: no school inside the district, the same commute corridors, the same evening traffic on Al Khail and Sheikh Zayed. A tutor here would be eleven minutes from a Business Bay address and no more available.

DIFC

A financial district with residential towers and the shortest average commute to the Al Safa and Jumeirah school cluster. Families here run the earliest school day of the corridor, which means a 4pm session is sometimes genuinely possible rather than theoretical.

Sobha Hartland

The one neighbour with schools inside it, including Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai. Families living here have a five-minute school run and still book online tuition, because walking distance to a campus does not produce a 4MA1 Higher specialist.

Al Jaddaf

Adjacent to the Creek and home to Swiss International Scientific School Dubai. A mixed curriculum catchment, which makes a tutor matched to the specific board more important here than in a single-curriculum district.

Al Quoz

An industrial and residential mix with several schools inside the district, including GEMS Our Own Indian School and Credence High School. The district is large and crossing it at 4pm is slower than leaving it, which is the practical reason local in-home tuition stalls here.

Meydan and Nad Al Sheba

Villa communities with longer commutes to the central school clusters and Kent College Dubai inside the Meydan catchment. Later arrivals home push the realistic session start towards 5pm, the latest in the corridor.

Culture Village and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Newer low-rise and villa developments with few schools and a commute that crosses Al Khail Road twice daily. The tutoring pool within a twenty-minute drive is effectively the same pool as Business Bay's, which is the point.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Business Bay

Sobha Hartland, Al Jaddaf and the Creek side

The closest campuses to Business Bay by road and the ones a canal-side family most often chooses. Curriculum is mixed across UK, IB and bilingual, so the board and tier a child is entered for varies even within a single school year group.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Dubai Modern Education School
  • GEMS Our Own Indian School, Al Quoz

Al Safa, Al Wasl and Jumeirah

The established UK-curriculum cluster west of the canal, reached from Business Bay in fifteen to thirty minutes depending on the hour. These schools account for a large share of Business Bay's Year 10 and Year 11 IGCSE candidates.

  • Jumeirah College
  • Safa British School
  • Horizon English School
  • Safa Community School
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Jumeirah

Al Quoz, Meydan and the southern corridor

A wider spread of curricula and the longest commutes in this comparison. Families here report the latest arrival home on weeknights, which is the single operational difference the districts in this table actually produce.

  • Kent College Dubai
  • Credence High School
  • GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Repton Al Barsha

Named schools are listed as context for the neighbourhood's education ecosystem. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school named on this page, and inclusion does not imply one.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the paper, not just the subject

Send the board, the syllabus code and the tier for each subject you want help with, plus the most recent component marks if the school has issued them. This is the information that makes a specific match possible, and it is the step most families skip.

  2. 02

A short consultation on Gulf Standard Time

Fifteen to twenty minutes to establish what the grade gap actually is, which subjects justify tuition and which do not, and what hours work after the commute from your child's school back to Business Bay. We will say if a subject does not need a tutor.

  3. 03

Matched to a specialist for that paper

One tutor, one syllabus code, one tier. If nobody who teaches that paper is free at the hour you need, we tell you that and offer the hours that are open rather than matching you to the nearest available person.

  4. 04

A free trial lesson that produces a diagnosis

The trial is taught, not sold. It should end with a written note of which marks are being lost and why, specific enough that you could act on it even if you never book again. No card is required to take it.

  5. 05

Weekly sessions against the school's own calendar

The tutor works from your child's scheme of work, internal deadlines and mock dates, and plans backwards from the June or November series. Session load drops in mock weeks rather than rising, because adding hours to a full week is how students stall.

  6. 06

Review at six weeks on component marks

Six weeks in, we compare component-level marks rather than overall grades and decide together whether to continue, change subject, change tutor or stop. Stopping is a legitimate outcome and we will say so when it is the right one.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched to the syllabus code

A Business Bay student entered for Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 Higher works with a tutor who has taught 4MA1 Higher. Not a mathematics tutor, not a Cambridge 0580 tutor. The board and tier are part of the match, which is the whole reason distance stops being the useful filter.

Timed to the commute, not to a diary

Sessions start from 4.30pm Gulf Standard Time, after the drive back from Sobha Hartland, Al Safa or Al Quoz. Nothing is scheduled into the window where a child is in a car, and weekend mornings are available when weeknights are genuinely full.

Figures that carry their source

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider or publication that published it, with the month it was read. We do not publish a UAE price list on these pages and we do not present market rates as ours. Statistics without n, date and method do not appear here at all.

Clear about what we will not do

No in-home visits in the UAE, no UAE office, no written coursework, no grade guarantees, no claim of KHDA or Cambridge approval we do not hold. A page that tells you its limits is easier to check than one that does not have any.

Coverage disclosed up front

If no specialist for your child's paper is free at the hour you need, you hear that at the enquiry. If the match is a specialist teaching into the Gulf timezone from elsewhere, you hear that before the trial rather than after the invoice.

A trial that ends in a diagnosis

The free trial lesson is a teaching session that produces a written note of where marks are going and what the first four weeks would address. It is useful to you whether or not you book. That is a deliberately low-risk way to test the match.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Business Bay: your questions answered

Is there any real advantage to an IGCSE tutor who lives near Business Bay?+

Only one, and it is small: a tutor nearby can be at your tower sooner. Everything a parent actually wants from proximity, a specialist who knows the paper, who can start this week, and who can be verified, is unrelated to distance. Business Bay has no IGCSE school inside the district, so there is no local pool of teachers who happen to know your child's scheme of work. The binding constraint is whether somebody who has taught your child's exact syllabus code and tier has a free hour at the time you need. That is an availability question, and widening the search answers it.

We are moving from Business Bay to Downtown Dubai. Will the tutoring options change?+

No. The two districts are one canal crossing apart, neither has an IGCSE school inside it, both feed the same school clusters in Sobha Hartland, Al Safa and Al Quoz, and both face the same evening traffic. The local in-home tutor pool is effectively the same pool. Across the six central-corridor districts we compare on this page, the only variable that genuinely differs is what time a weeknight session can realistically start, which ranges from about 4pm in DIFC and Sobha Hartland to about 5pm in Meydan. Your postcode controls your start time and almost nothing else.

Sobha Hartland has two British schools inside it. Doesn't living there make tutoring easier?+

It makes the school run easier, which is not the same thing. Having a campus five minutes away does not produce a local tutor who has taught Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry 4CH1 at Higher tier and happens to be free on Wednesday at 5.30pm. Families living beside those campuses book online tuition for exactly the same reason Business Bay families do: the match they need is to a specific paper, and specific papers are not distributed by neighbourhood. The one real benefit is timing, since a five-minute commute means a 4pm session is achievable rather than theoretical.

How do I find out whether my child is entered for Core or Extended tier?+

Ask the school in writing, subject by subject, and ask what evidence the decision rests on. Most Dubai schools will answer within a few days and many already report it in a column parents do not read closely. This is worth doing immediately, because tier caps the grade that can be awarded: a Core-tier candidate cannot reach the higher grades regardless of effort, and if a sixth-form science course requires grade 6, the route closes. A Year 9 or early Year 10 student has time to change the decision. A Year 11 in the spring term usually does not.

Can a tutor get my child moved from Core to Extended tier?+

No, and anyone who says they can is overselling. The entry decision belongs to the school, made within the board's deadlines on the basis of internal assessment. What tutoring can do is change the evidence the school is looking at, which is why timing matters so much. If the concern is raised in Year 9 or early Year 10, a term of focused work on the harder topic strands can genuinely alter a borderline decision. If entries have already been submitted, the honest plan is to maximise the grade available within the tier and keep the sixth-form conversation realistic.

My child's report shows both number grades and letter grades. Which scale is which?+

Most Pearson Edexcel International GCSE specifications grade 9-1, and many Cambridge IGCSE specifications grade A*-G, so a child taking subjects from both boards in the same year receives both. The boards publish rough equivalences, but they are approximate rather than exact, and treating a grade 7 as an A can cause a sixth-form requirement to be misread. More usefully: the subject grade tells you very little about what to fix. Ask for component-level marks instead, because a weak practical paper and a weak theory paper need completely different work.

What does a weekly IGCSE tutor cost per month in Dubai?+

Taking monthly figures rather than hourly ones, Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table estimates roughly AED 240 to 600 a month for a weekly hour at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Published packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those are other providers' published figures read in October 2026, not IB Gram prices. We point families to the free trial and the consultation instead of a published UAE rate card.

What exactly am I paying for when an in-home visit costs more?+

The travel. Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, with independent home tutors reaching AED 200 to 500 once travel is priced in. The gap covers the drive to your tower in Business Bay, parking, the lift, and the polite twenty minutes at the end. It does not buy a more qualified teacher or a better match to your child's paper. Priced across two subjects over a school year, the travel premium is a substantial amount of money spent on logistics rather than on teaching.

Which exam series will my child in Dubai actually sit?+

The June series or the November series. Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level examinations in a June series and a November series, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and November each year. Important for UAE families: the Cambridge February/March series is offered to India only, so any plan built around a February or March exam window is built on the wrong country's calendar. Read the exact dates from the board's live timetable rather than from any tutoring website, including this one, because provisional timetables are revised before they become final.

What is an exam zone and why does our examinations officer keep mentioning it?+

Cambridge allocates every examination centre to one of six administrative zones, and the timetable differs by zone. Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong zone timetable. Practically, that means your child's revision calendar must be built from the timetable your own school's examinations officer confirms, not from a version found online. It takes one email to confirm, and it is the cheapest piece of exam-season risk management available.

A tutoring site told us six IGCSE subjects are required for equivalency. Is that right?+

Five. Students on the British track must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must also submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or above, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. This is worth knowing because at least one ranking tutoring site in this market publishes six, which is wrong. IB Gram does not perform or guarantee equivalency; verify the current requirement on moe.gov.ae or with your emirate's attestation authority before acting.

Does my child's IGCSE tutor need a permit, and how would I check?+

Yes. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published. Ask the tutor or provider directly about permit status; a reluctance to answer is itself informative.

Is hiring a teacher from my child's own Dubai school a sensible shortcut?+

It is a worse idea than it sounds. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Verify the exact current wording against ADEK's policy document, since this is press-reported. Beyond compliance, it collapses the useful separation between the person who teaches your child and the person who assesses them, and it removes the independent second opinion that is half of what tutoring buys.

Will a tutor help my child finish their coursework before the deadline?+

A tutor will teach the content, explain the assessment criteria, model the technique on a different example, and give feedback on your child's own draft. A tutor will not write the text, supply sentences to be copied, or edit the piece to completion. That boundary is not negotiable, because a malpractice finding falls on the student rather than on the tutor. There are providers in this market that sell completed assessed work; that offer is a reason to walk away from them. If a deadline is genuinely unreachable, the conversation to have is with the school, not with a tutor.

What if no tutor is free for my child's subject at the time we need?+

You will be told at the enquiry rather than matched to whoever is available. Mathematics, the three sciences, English, business, economics and computer science are reliably covered at both boards and both tiers. Narrower subjects and the 5pm to 7pm Gulf Standard Time peak are where gaps appear. Where no UAE-based specialist covers a paper, the match may be a specialist teaching into the Gulf timezone from elsewhere, stated before the trial. The hours that stay open longest for Business Bay families are 4.30pm and anything after 7.30pm.

Do you have an office or a centre in Business Bay we could visit?+

No. IB Gram has no office, branch or tuition centre anywhere in the United Arab Emirates, and we do not send tutors to UAE homes; home visiting is a service we run only in India. All UAE tuition is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. We say this plainly because two things in this market are worth checking before you buy: whether a provider actually has the UAE premises its footer implies, and whether the phone number you are given is a UAE number. Both are easy to verify and both tell you something.

Start with the paper, not the postcode

If you remember one thing from this page, make it this: find out which board, which syllabus code and which tier your child is entered for, and get the component-level marks from the school. Those four pieces of information are free, they take one email, and they are what makes a useful tutoring decision possible. Bring them to a short consultation on Gulf Standard Time and we will tell you which subjects justify tuition, which do not, and what the first four weeks would address. The trial lesson is free, no card is needed, and it ends with a diagnosis you can read. Business Bay, Downtown, DIFC or Meydan: the answer comes out the same, which is why we spent this page proving it rather than asserting it.
