IGCSE Science Tutor in Arabian Ranches 3

Looking for an IGCSE science tutor in Arabian Ranches 3 usually starts as a map question and ends as a syllabus question. The villas here sit minutes from Arabian Ranches 2, Mudon and Town Square, and the honest answer is that geography barely moves the outcome. What moves it is whether the tutor knows Cambridge 0620 from Pearson 4CH1, and whether your child's Paper 6 technique is being marked properly. Lessons run live over video, timed to Gulf Standard Time.

  • Cambridge 0610, 0620, 0625, 0653 and 0654 covered separately
  • Pearson 4BI1, 4CH1, 4PH1 and Double Award 4SD0 as well
  • Paper 5 and Paper 6 technique taught from past-paper mark schemes
  • One introductory lesson before any commitment is made

IB & IGCSE in Arabian Ranches 3

Why the community on the map matters less than the syllabus code on the exam entry

Arabian Ranches 3 is a young community. The villas filled quickly, the school-age population arrived in a rush, and the result is a lot of families asking the same question in the same autumn: who can help with Year 10 science. The search almost always has a postcode in it. Parents type the community name because that is how you find a plumber, a swimming coach or a piano teacher, and there is no obvious reason science should work differently.

It does work differently, and the reason is boring. A plumber has to be in the room. A science tutor has to know which of five possible IGCSE science routes your child's school entered them for, which papers that route sits, and which of the twenty-odd topics on it are the ones that quietly lose marks in May. A tutor who lives two roundabouts away but teaches to the wrong specification is worse than useless; a tutor who has marked four hundred Paper 6 scripts and happens to be elsewhere is the one who moves the grade.

This page is written as a comparison on purpose. Arabian Ranches 3 sits inside a ring of communities that share almost everything: Arabian Ranches and Arabian Ranches 2 to the north, Mudon and Remraam to the south, Town Square to the east, Motor City and Dubai Sports City to the west, DAMAC Hills either side. The schools overlap. The school-run timings overlap. The tutoring question overlaps so completely that the sensible answer is identical in all of them, and saying so is more useful than pretending each community needs its own bespoke advice.

What is genuinely local is the timetable. Families here drive, not walk. The afternoon run out of the Ranches school cluster and back into the newer phases of Arabian Ranches 3 eats the hour between three and four, and an online lesson that starts at 4.30pm with a child who has eaten something works far better than one squeezed into a car at 3.15pm. That scheduling detail is worth more to a Year 11 science grade than any claim about proximity.

One more piece of local arithmetic is worth stating before the detail. Arabian Ranches 3 filled while the school pipeline was still catching up, so a larger share of children here travel further to school than in the older phases, and a larger share changed schools at least once. Both facts show up in science: a child who moved mid-key-stage has usually met two different schemes of work and skipped the overlap between them. That is a diagnosable gap rather than a vague weakness, and it is the first thing worth checking.

The rest of the page does four things. It sorts out which science route your child is actually on, with syllabus codes. It shows where marks go missing in each paper. It publishes what the Dubai market charges in AED, with attribution, because almost nobody in this search result publishes a number at all. And it says plainly how lessons are delivered: one-to-one, live, over video, with a shared whiteboard and a recording your child can rewatch the night before a test.

At a glance

  • Five different IGCSE science routes exist; your child is on exactly one of them
  • Cambridge sits a practical paper, Pearson's separate sciences do not
  • Dubai market rates for qualified science tuition run roughly AED 150-300 per hour
  • KHDA's mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies lessons occupy real timetable space in Year 11
  • There are no home visits in Dubai; delivery is online, and the comparison table explains why that helps here
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four programmes matter to a family in Arabian Ranches 3 thinking about science at 14 to 16. Two are the IGCSE boards themselves, one is the middle-school programme that feeds into them, and one is the sixth-form route that will judge whatever grade your child comes out with.

Cambridge IGCSE Sciences

Cambridge runs Biology 0610, Chemistry 0620 and Physics 0625 as separate qualifications, plus Combined Science 0653 and Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 for students who want breadth without three full timetable blocks. Each separate science is tiered: Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3 with a grade ceiling of C, Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4 and can reach A*. Every route also carries a practical component, either Paper 5 under laboratory conditions or Paper 6, the written alternative.

Cambridge allocates every exam centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses a paper after using the wrong zone timetable. Dubai schools sit the June series and the November series; the February and March series is offered to India only, so it is not a window an Arabian Ranches 3 family can plan around. A Year 11 student here should know their school's zone letter before anyone builds a revision plan around published dates, because two zones can sit the same Chemistry paper on different days.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Sciences

Pearson's separate sciences are 4BI1 Biology, 4CH1 Chemistry and 4PH1 Physics, each assessed by two written papers with no separate practical paper. Practical skills are examined inside the written papers instead, which changes revision completely: a student cannot bank marks by rehearsing apparatus drawings, and must instead handle experimental method questions cold. Double Award Science 4SD0 compresses all three subjects into two grades.

Pearson offers International GCSE exams in May/June and November each year, and the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026. Several schools near Arabian Ranches 3 moved to Edexcel for the shorter paper count, so check the entry form rather than assuming Cambridge.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme Sciences

The IB schools in this part of Dubai run MYP sciences with criterion-based assessment: Knowing and understanding, Inquiring and designing, Processing and evaluating, and Reflecting on the impacts of science. Students are marked 1-8 against each criterion rather than against a percentage. Families often arrive at an IGCSE science tutor because a child has moved from an MYP school into a British-curriculum one and the written-paper conventions are unfamiliar.

That MYP-to-IGCSE move is common in the Dubailand belt because community growth outpaced school places, so children change schools mid-key-stage more often than they would in a settled market. The gap is almost never content. It is exam grammar: command terms, mark allocation, and the habit of writing to the number of marks on the line rather than to the length of the thought.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma and A Level Sciences

Whatever your child does at 16 is the thing that reads their IGCSE science grade. DP Chemistry HL and A Level Chemistry both assume fluency with moles, bonding and organic mechanisms that IGCSE only introduces. Physics at HL assumes algebraic rearrangement that Core-tier candidates have never been asked to do. A good Year 11 science year is partly about the grade and partly about not arriving in Year 12 with gaps that take a term to repair.

Schools around Arabian Ranches 3 split both ways at 16: some run A Levels, some run the IB Diploma, a few run both and ask families to choose in Year 11. The practical consequence is that the Year 11 science conversation in this part of Dubai is a sixth-form conversation as well, and it happens in January while mocks are still being marked.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Science is not one subject. A tutor who treats Biology, Chemistry and Physics as interchangeable will teach the recall and skip the mathematics, or teach the mathematics and skip the terminology. These are the components families around Arabian Ranches 3 ask for most, with what each one actually assesses.

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core and Extended

Mole calculations, electrolysis, rates of reaction, organic chemistry and the qualitative analysis tables. Extended candidates meet reacting-mass problems that need two conversion steps, and the marks lost are almost always unit errors or a failure to state the limiting reactant. The qualitative analysis section rewards rote accuracy and punishes approximation.

Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625

Core and Extended

Forces and motion, thermal physics, waves, electricity and magnetism, and atomic physics. Electricity is where this syllabus separates grades: series and parallel reasoning, potential dividers, and the difference between what an ammeter reads and what a student assumes it reads. Graph-gradient questions carry easy marks that go missing for want of units on the axes.

Cambridge IGCSE Biology 0610

Core and Extended

Characteristics of living organisms, transport in plants and humans, respiration, coordination and response, inheritance and ecology. Biology looks like a memory subject and is assessed as a precision subject. Marks go on specified terminology, on naming the correct structure rather than its region, and on explaining a mechanism in the order the mark scheme lists it.

Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654

Double award, Core and Extended

All three sciences assessed across Papers 1 to 4 plus a practical component, awarded as two IGCSE grades. Content depth is close to the separate sciences, which surprises families who chose it expecting a lighter load. The real saving is timetable blocks, not revision hours, and any tutor should say so before the first session.

Cambridge Combined Science 0653

Single award, Core and Extended

One grade covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics at reduced depth. It suits a student carrying nine or ten subjects who will not continue science past 16. It does not satisfy entry to DP HL science or A Level science at most schools, so the choice needs making with the sixth-form plan in view, not after it.

Pearson Edexcel Chemistry 4CH1

Single tier

Two written papers, no practical paper, and experimental method examined inside the written questions. Untiered entry means every candidate meets the hardest material, which helps a strong student and exposes a weak one. Organic chemistry and the mole appear in both papers, so a gap cannot be parked for the second sitting.

Pearson Edexcel Physics 4PH1

Single tier

Paper 1 covers forces, electricity, waves, energy and magnetism; Paper 2 adds astrophysics and particle content. The formula sheet is sparser than students expect and several relationships must be recalled. Candidates lose marks by quoting a formula correctly and then substituting in the wrong units, particularly with prefixes.

Pearson Edexcel Biology 4BI1

Single tier

Two papers across the five topic areas, with a noticeably heavier weighting on data handling than the Cambridge equivalent. Students who have been drilled on recall arrive unprepared for questions that hand them an unfamiliar graph and ask for an inference. That skill transfers from practice papers and almost nowhere else.

Paper 6 technique, alternative to practical

Cambridge Core and Extended

A written paper about experiments the candidate has not performed. It tests reading a measuring instrument, identifying a variable, spotting an anomalous result, suggesting an improvement and drawing a table with correct headings and units. Every one of those is a teachable habit, and most schools run out of time to teach them.

Mathematics for science

IGCSE support strand

Rearranging formulae, standard form, significant figures, percentage change, gradients and ratio. A Year 11 student failing Physics questions is often failing the algebra inside them. Half an hour a week on this strand usually shows up in Chemistry and Biology marks as well, because the data questions are the same skill wearing different clothes.

Required practical knowledge

Both boards

Titration, rates of reaction by gas collection, food tests, osmosis in potato strips, resistance of a wire, specific heat capacity. Online lessons work through real data sets from these experiments rather than simulating apparatus, which is what the written papers actually ask about.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three delivery patterns cover almost every IGCSE science request from this part of Dubai. All three are one-to-one and all three run live over video with a shared whiteboard, screen sharing and a session recording.

Weekly subject slot

One fixed hour a week per science, booked at the same time each week so it survives the school run and the sports calendar. This is what Year 9 and Year 10 students in Arabian Ranches 3 should normally be on: steady, unhurried, and aimed at understanding rather than at a test next Thursday.

  • Same slot weekly, Gulf Standard Time
  • One science per slot, not all three in an hour
  • Homework set from the school's own scheme of work
  • Written feedback after each session

Paper technique block

A short run of sessions aimed only at exam behaviour: command terms, mark allocation, Paper 6 conventions, graph work and the discipline of answering to the mark count. It suits a student whose content knowledge is sound but whose mock paper came back ten marks under what the teacher expected.

  • Past papers marked against the published mark scheme
  • Paper 5 and Paper 6 conventions taught explicitly
  • A list of repeat errors, tracked across sessions
  • Timed sections rather than full mocks at first

Pre-series intensive

A compressed schedule in the weeks before a June or November series, with more frequent shorter sessions. Shorter is deliberate: a tired Year 11 gains nothing from a second hour. Families in the outer Dubailand communities tend to use this pattern because it does not add a car journey to an already full week.

  • Two or three shorter sessions a week
  • Topic triage from the mock paper breakdown
  • Recordings kept for the night before each paper
  • Scheduling that works around school study leave

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches 3

01

What an IGCSE science tutor in Arabian Ranches 3 actually needs to know

The useful answer to this search is a question back: which syllabus, which tier, and which papers. There are at least five IGCSE science routes running in schools used by families in Arabian Ranches 3, and they are assessed differently enough that a tutor who gets it wrong will spend three weeks teaching content your child will never be examined on. A parent who can say "Cambridge 0620, Extended, Paper 6 route" has already made the match twice as likely to work.

Proximity, the thing the search phrase is actually about, has a smaller effect than almost anyone expects. A tutor who lives in Arabian Ranches 2 is fifteen minutes away on a good afternoon and forty on a bad one, and either way the hour they spend driving is an hour they are not teaching, paid for by somebody. Market in-home rates in Dubai sit higher than online rates for exactly this reason, and the gap is travel, not teaching quality.

What proximity does buy is cultural fluency: a tutor in the same belt knows which school sets which textbook, which head of science marks hard, and what the mock timetable looks like. That knowledge is real and worth having. It is also knowledge a tutor can hold without living nearby, because it comes from teaching students at those schools, and teaching them online does not reduce it.

So the recommendation for Arabian Ranches 3 is the same recommendation as for Mudon, Town Square, Motor City or Remraam: pick for the syllabus code and the paper experience, and take the delivery format that leaves the most teaching minutes in the hour. Lessons are delivered online, one-to-one, over live video. There are no home visits in Dubai on our side; that is an India-only service, and the next section's table is the argument for why that is not a concession.

02

The five science routes, with their syllabus codes

This is the single most useful table a Dubai science page can carry, and it is the one almost no competing page has. Before anything else happens, establish which row your child is on. The school's exam-entry confirmation names it; a report card usually does not, and a child in Year 10 very often does not know.

The tiering question matters as much as the board. Cambridge separate sciences are tiered: a Core entry caps the grade at C, and a student entered for Core in October who is working at B standard by February is in trouble that only the school can fix, because entries can usually be amended but not indefinitely. Any tutor who spots a mismatch between tier and working standard should say so early enough for the school to act.

Pearson's separate sciences take the opposite approach with a single untiered entry, so every candidate sees the full difficulty range. That is better for an ambitious student and harder on a struggling one, and it changes how a tutor sequences topics: there is no safe material to retreat to, so the work has to be on technique for the hardest question types from the start.

The practical component is the other real fork. Cambridge candidates sit either Paper 5, under laboratory conditions at the school, or Paper 6, a written alternative about experiments they have not run. Pearson examines experimental method inside the written papers. A tutor needs to know which of those three situations applies, because the preparation for each is genuinely different work.

Paper 5, Paper 6 and what happens to practical work when lessons are online

  • Paper 5 is sat in the school laboratory under school supervision
  • Paper 6 is entirely written and tests the description of method, not the method
  • Pearson examines experimental skill inside the written papers
  • Precision of language is where most practical-component marks are won

This is the objection every Dubai science parent raises, and it deserves a straight answer rather than reassurance. A tutor cannot run a titration with your child over video, and nobody should pretend otherwise. What a tutor can do is prepare your child for the thing that is actually examined, which in every case is a written response about practical work rather than the practical work itself.

Cambridge Paper 5 is sat at the school, in the school laboratory, supervised by school staff. No private tutor has ever sat in that room. Preparation for it is reading apparatus accurately, recording to consistent decimal places, drawing a results table with units in the headings, plotting with a sensible scale and writing a conclusion that refers to the data. Every one of those is better taught on a screen with a real past-paper data set than at a bench, because the bench time gets used up on the procedure.

Paper 6, the alternative to practical, is a written paper from end to end. It asks a candidate to describe how they would test a variable, identify what is wrong with a described method, read a thermometer or burette from a diagram, and spot the anomalous point in somebody else's table. Students lose marks here for vagueness rather than ignorance: "measure the temperature" where the mark scheme wants "measure the temperature every 30 seconds for five minutes".

Pearson candidates have no practical paper, which does not mean no practical content. Experimental method appears inside 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1 as data-handling and method-evaluation questions, often worth four or five marks in a single block. A student who has only ever revised content walks into those blind. Working through them cold, with the mark scheme covered and then revealed, is the fastest fix available and needs nothing but a screen and a pen.

04

Where IGCSE science marks actually go missing

A mock result of 58% tells you nothing about what to do next. The same 58% can mean a student who understands everything and writes badly, or one who writes well and has three topic gaps, and the remedies are opposite. The first thing a competent tutor does with a Year 11 is take the mock paper apart question by question and sort the lost marks into categories, because the category decides the plan.

Across the three sciences the categories repeat with depressing consistency. Unit and prefix errors. Formula quoted correctly and then misapplied. A mechanism explained in the wrong order. Terminology that is nearly right, which in Biology scores zero. Graph work without units on the axes. Answers that are two sentences long for a one-mark question and one sentence long for a four-mark question. None of these is a knowledge problem and all of them are fixable inside a half-term.

The table below is the version of this a parent can use. It is deliberately specific about what a fortnight of focused work actually achieves, because the honest answer to "can tutoring fix this" varies enormously by category. Terminology and technique move fast. A missing term's worth of electricity does not, and anyone who says otherwise is selling.

One caution on past papers. Reference them, work from them, and get them from the school or the board's own site. No tutor should be supplying syllabus documents, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads, and no page should be reproducing them. Cambridge and Pearson publish what they intend parents to have, and the rest is somebody else's copyright.

What IGCSE science tuition costs around Arabian Ranches 3, in AED

Three of the six best-ranking pages for this kind of search publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai family transacts in. So here are the figures, with attribution, and with a clear statement of what they are: market rates for Dubai as a whole, not an IB Gram price list.

Budget online tuition, typically delivered by a university student or a non-specialist, advertises from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour; EdFlik publishes from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from around AED 33 to 52. A qualified subject tutor working online sits in the AED 150 to 300 band, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. An in-home one-to-one visit, travel included, runs AED 180 to 500; Bestimate's Dubai rate table puts the band at 180 to 350 and independent home tutors go to 500. Specialist IB, IGCSE and A Level tutors sit at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270.

Read the in-home row next to the online row and the price gap is the story. The difference is not teaching; it is a car, a driver's hour, and the fact that a tutor who travels can teach perhaps four students a day where one who does not can teach seven. In the outer Dubailand communities that gap widens, because the drive from a central Dubai neighbourhood out to Arabian Ranches 3 at five in the afternoon is not a short one.

The context figure worth knowing is that KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. School fees are flat; tutoring is the variable. For our own pricing, the route is the introductory lesson and a conversation, because quoting a number before anyone has established whether your child needs 0620 Extended support or Paper 6 technique would be guesswork dressed as a quote.

Arabian Ranches 3 against the community next door: does the answer change?

This page was written from a comparison, so here is the comparison done properly. Take the nine communities that share this school cluster and road network, and ask what is genuinely different about arranging science tuition in each. The differences turn out to be about timing, not about availability or price, and timing is solvable.

The pattern that repeats is the afternoon. Every one of these communities empties towards the same handful of schools between seven and eight in the morning and refills between two and four. A child who gets home at 3.10pm is not ready to think about electrolysis at 3.30pm, and a child who gets home at 4.15pm has lost the early slot entirely. The communities differ in which of those two situations they are usually in, and that single fact decides what a workable weekly slot looks like.

The second pattern is the sports calendar. Dubai Sports City and the academies around it pull students from the whole belt on weekday evenings, and Motor City and Arabian Ranches 2 both have well-used club schedules. Families consistently underestimate this when booking: a Tuesday 6pm slot that collides with football is a slot that gets cancelled twice a month, which does more damage to a Year 11 than a less convenient time that actually happens.

What does not differ is the thing families expect to differ: who is available to teach. Online delivery means the pool for Cambridge 0620 Extended is the same pool whether you are in Remraam or in Arabian Ranches. That is the whole point of the comparison, and it is why this page gives the same recommendation in every row of the table below.

KHDA, the mandatory UAE subjects and the Year 11 timetable squeeze

KHDA is the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and it is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai. It inspects schools annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding down to Very Weak, and the published report for your child's school is the single most useful free document available to a parent in this emirate. It will often name science specifically as a strength or a weakness at secondary level.

KHDA also sets something that directly affects a Year 11 science plan: Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools, whatever international curriculum the school is licensed for, and the requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies; combined classes for both groups are not permitted because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ.

Instructional time for those mandatory subjects is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary the lesson length provided the weekly total is met, and KHDA advises that no mandatory-subject lesson runs shorter than 25 minutes. That arithmetic is why a British-curriculum Year 11 in Dubai has less discretionary time than the same year group in the UK, and why a science catch-up plan that assumes free periods usually collides with reality.

One more point for completeness, because it is the thing nobody in this search result explains. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published, so no figure should be quoted at you.

08

Academic honesty, past papers and what a science tutor may not do

IGCSE sciences carry no coursework component on the routes described above, which removes the most common academic-honesty problem before it starts. There is still a line, and it is worth stating because this search result contains providers who cross it. A tutor explains, demonstrates, questions and gives feedback. The answers that go on an exam script are the student's own, produced under exam conditions, and no amount of preparation changes that.

The grey area in science is homework and internal assessment. A Year 10 required to submit a practical write-up for school assessment must produce that write-up themselves. A tutor may teach how a results table should be headed, why a conclusion must cite the data, and what an evaluation paragraph is for. A tutor may not dictate sentences into a document that will be submitted with a student's name on it. If a child asks for that, the correct answer is no, and the reason is that the student is the one who carries the consequence.

The same principle applies to materials. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides belong to Cambridge and Pearson, and the right thing to do is link to the boards' own pages and work from what the school has issued. Any tutor or site offering a downloadable library of mark schemes is distributing someone else's property, and in the case of unreleased material is creating a malpractice exposure for your child.

This matters more in the UAE than it might elsewhere, because ADEK's professional-ethics rules in Abu Dhabi prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct that bars serving students affiliated with the permit holder's school. The point for a Dubai family is simply this: a tutor who offers something that sounds too convenient is usually offering something that is against a rule somebody enforces.

What happens when no UAE-based specialist is free for your slot

Every tutoring provider in this market has availability limits and almost none of them say so. Here is ours, stated plainly, because a family in Arabian Ranches 3 planning a Year 11 science year deserves to know the failure mode before they commit rather than after.

For mainstream requests, Cambridge or Pearson Biology, Chemistry and Physics at either tier, UAE-based availability is good and a match for a standard weekday evening slot is usually quick. The pressure points are predictable: the 4pm to 6pm Gulf Standard Time window in the eight weeks before a June series, when every family in Dubai wants the same hour, and narrow combinations such as a student who needs Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 taught as a single coherent course rather than three fragments.

When no UAE-based specialist covers a slot, the options are a different time with the right specialist, the same time with a strong generalist who hands back to the specialist later, or a tutor based outside the UAE teaching into Gulf Standard Time, which is disclosed before anything is booked rather than concealed behind a local number. An IB and IGCSE specialist teaching from India into a Dubai evening is a real and often excellent option; a provider pretending the tutor is around the corner is not.

The last honest caveat is about timing. Starting science support in March for a June series is not pointless, but it changes what can be achieved: technique, paper discipline and triage of the two or three topics carrying the most marks. Starting in September buys the thing families actually want, which is the chance to repair a foundation rather than manage a deficit. Nobody can promise a grade, and anyone who does is telling you something about themselves rather than about your child.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Arabian Ranches 3

These are the communities that share Arabian Ranches 3's school cluster, its road network and its tutoring question. The notes describe what is different about each one in practice, and the honest conclusion is that the recommendation does not change as you drive between them.

Arabian Ranches 3

The newest phase, and the one with the youngest average student age. A large share of the science demand here is Year 9 and Year 10 rather than exam-year, which means there is time to fix foundations instead of triaging a mock result.

Arabian Ranches 2

Settled, with Ranches Primary School inside it and a well-worn route to the original Ranches. Families here tend to have children at two different stages at once, so a single weekly slot per child beats a shared session.

Arabian Ranches

The original community and the anchor of the school cluster that serves all three phases. The afternoon exit from here sets the traffic pattern that decides when a 4pm lesson is realistic for everyone further out.

Mudon

South of Arabian Ranches 3 and on the same Al Qudra corridor. Mudon families often use the same schools and the same sports clubs, which means the same Tuesday and Thursday evening conflicts for tuition slots.

Town Square

Dense, apartment-heavy and with a different commute shape: more families here head towards Al Barsha and Dubai Hills for school. The practical effect on tutoring is a later usable start time on weekdays.

Motor City

Closer in, with GEMS Metropole School inside it and quick access to Dubai Sports City. Shorter school runs mean a 4pm science session is genuinely possible mid-week, which is rarer than it sounds in this belt.

Dubai Sports City

Victory Heights Primary School and a cluster of sports academies that dominate weekday evenings. Science revision here has to fit around training schedules, which usually pushes exam-year sessions to Friday and the weekend.

DAMAC Hills

Served by schools inside and just outside the community, with a longer run to the Ranches cluster. Families here are the clearest case for online delivery: the drive that a visiting tutor would absorb is the same drive your child already does.

Remraam

Furthest south of the group and the least served by nearby schools. Travel time is the dominant constraint on anything in-person, and it is the reason an online specialist is not a compromise here but the better option.

Dubai Hills Estate

North-east of the belt and the destination for a share of Arabian Ranches 3 families at secondary level. Worth noting because a child may live in one community and sit exams under a school cluster an entire district away.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Arabian Ranches 3

The Arabian Ranches and Dubailand school cluster

These are the schools students in Arabian Ranches 3 and the neighbouring phases most commonly attend. The mix is heavily British-curriculum, which is why IGCSE science rather than MYP science is the dominant request in this belt, and why the Cambridge-versus-Edexcel question comes up in almost every first conversation.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • GEMS FirstPoint School
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Dubai British School Mira
  • Fairgreen International School
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

Schools families here use further north and east

Secondary places pull families out of the immediate belt, particularly from Year 7 and again at sixth form. A student living in Arabian Ranches 3 may be registered at a school ten or fifteen kilometres away, which is exactly why a tutor's postcode is a weak proxy for a tutor's usefulness.

  • GEMS International School, Al Khail
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Repton School Dubai
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Hartland International School
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Schools are named as context for the local education market only; IB Gram claims no affiliation, endorsement or relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Tell us the syllabus code

The first message should name the board, the subject, the tier and the papers: Cambridge 0620 Extended, Paper 6 route, Year 11. If you do not have it, the school's exam-entry confirmation does. This one detail decides which tutors are even candidates, and it saves a wasted first session more often than anything else.

  2. 02

Send the mock paper, not the report card

A report grade says where a student is. A marked mock paper says why. Photographs of the script, including the pages that went badly, let a tutor sort the lost marks into categories before meeting your child, so the introductory lesson starts with a plan rather than a diagnosis.

  3. 03

Pick the slot that survives the week

Choose the time that works on a bad Tuesday in Arabian Ranches 3, not the time that works on a good one. A 5pm slot that happens every week beats a 4pm slot cancelled twice a month for football, and consistency is the single largest controllable factor in a Year 11 science year.

  4. 04

    Use the introductory lesson properly

One lesson with the matched tutor, before any commitment. Ask your child two questions afterwards: did the tutor explain something the school had not, and did they mark anything. A session that only built rapport has told you nothing about whether the match works.

  5. 05

    Review at the half-term

Six to eight weeks in, compare the error categories from the first mock against the current ones. Terminology and technique errors should be falling. If the only thing that has changed is confidence, the plan needs adjusting, and changing tutor is a normal outcome rather than a failure.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the syllabus code, not the postcode

A tutor is selected for knowing 0620 Extended or 4PH1 specifically, including which topics the mark schemes treat harshly. Geography is irrelevant to that and we do not pretend otherwise, which is why the comparison tables on this page exist rather than a claim about local coverage.

The whole hour is teaching

No part of the fee pays for a car on Al Qudra Road at five in the afternoon. In the outer Dubailand communities that difference is substantial, and it is the main reason in-home market rates in Dubai sit AED 30 to 200 above online rates for comparable experience.

Prices stated as the market, with sources

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the date. We do not publish an invented price list, and we do not quote in dollars at a family that pays in dirhams.

Paper technique taught explicitly

Command terms, mark allocation, Paper 6 conventions and data-table headings are taught as content in their own right, because that is where most of the recoverable marks are. Students who have never been shown how a four-mark question is marked usually gain the fastest.

Recordings and written feedback

Each session is recorded and followed by a short written note listing what was covered, what was set and which errors recurred. It means the night before a paper has something to work from, and it means a parent can see progress without sitting in the lesson.

Limits disclosed before you book

If no UAE-based specialist covers your slot, you are told, and told what the alternatives are, including a tutor teaching into Gulf Standard Time from elsewhere. A provider that never mentions a coverage limit has one anyway.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches 3: your questions answered

Does my child need a laboratory if IGCSE science lessons in Arabian Ranches 3 are online?+

No, because the laboratory part of the qualification happens at school. Cambridge Paper 5 is sat in the school laboratory under school supervision, and Paper 6 is a written paper about experiments the candidate has not performed. Pearson's separate sciences have no practical paper at all and examine method inside the written papers. What a tutor prepares is the written response: reading an instrument from a diagram, heading a results table with units, identifying an anomalous result and writing a conclusion that refers to the data. All of that works better on a shared screen with a real past-paper data set than at a bench.

Is Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 easier than three separate IGCSE sciences?+

It is lighter on timetable blocks rather than lighter on content. Co-ordinated Sciences covers all three sciences across Papers 1 to 4 plus a practical component and awards two IGCSE grades, with depth close to the separate subjects. Families who choose it expecting a reduced workload are often surprised in Year 11. Combined Science 0653 is the genuinely reduced route, awarding a single grade at lower depth, but it does not satisfy entry to DP Higher Level science or A Level science at most schools. Choose with the sixth-form plan in view rather than after it.

My son sits Edexcel 4CH1 rather than Cambridge 0620 — does that change the tutoring?+

Substantially. Pearson's 4CH1 has two written papers, no practical paper and a single untiered entry, so every candidate meets the hardest material and there is no safer tier to retreat to. Experimental method is examined inside the written papers as data-handling and evaluation blocks worth four or five marks at a time. Cambridge 0620 is tiered, with Core capped at grade C, and carries a separate practical component. A tutor who teaches one as though it were the other will drill apparatus technique your child will never be asked about, or skip data questions that carry real marks.

What does IGCSE science tuition cost around Arabian Ranches 3 and Mudon?+

Published Dubai market figures, as of October 2026, put budget online tuition at roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, a qualified subject tutor online at AED 150 to 300, an in-home one-to-one visit at AED 180 to 500 including travel, and an IGCSE or A Level specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above. Those are market bands from providers including EdFlik, Tutopiya, Unitors, TutorChase and Bestimate's Dubai rate table, not an IB Gram price list. The in-home premium is almost entirely travel, which in the outer Dubailand communities is a long drive at five in the afternoon.

Would a tutor living in Arabian Ranches 2 be better than one three communities away?+

Not for a reason that shows up in a grade. What a nearby tutor genuinely offers is familiarity with the local school cluster: which textbook is set, which head of science marks hard, when the mocks fall. That knowledge comes from teaching students at those schools, and it survives being delivered over video. What proximity costs is teaching minutes and money, because a travelling tutor's drive is paid for by somebody. Match on the syllabus code and the paper experience first; the community the tutor sleeps in is the least predictive detail available.

How many weeks before the June series should IGCSE science revision properly start?+

Treat the mock results in January as the starting gun and plan backwards from the published timetable rather than from the exam month. A realistic shape is six to eight weeks per genuine topic gap, four to five sessions to fix graph and data technique, and two weeks to make answer-length discipline automatic. That means a student with two topic gaps and weak paper technique needs most of the spring term, not April. Starting in March is not pointless, but it changes the goal from repair to triage of whichever two topics carry the most marks.

Can one tutor cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics for the same Year 11 student?+

Sometimes, and it is worth being careful about. A science teacher can usually teach all three competently to Core or Combined level. At Extended or Double Award, the depth in each subject is enough that most strong tutors are genuinely specialist in one and solid in the others. If one subject is the problem, use a specialist in that subject. If a student needs general science support across the board, a single tutor is better for continuity. What does not work is one hour a week split three ways.

What is the difference between Cambridge Paper 5 and Paper 6 in IGCSE science?+

Paper 5 is a practical examination sat in the school laboratory, under supervision, with apparatus in front of the candidate. Paper 6 is the alternative to practical: a written paper about experiments the candidate has not carried out, asking them to describe a method, read an instrument from a diagram, identify a flaw in a described procedure or spot an anomalous result in somebody else's table. The school decides which route a candidate takes and it appears on the exam entry. Preparation for the two is different work, so establish which applies before any revision plan is built.

Are there enough IGCSE science tutors available for a community as new as Arabian Ranches 3?+

Local headcount is not the constraint, because delivery is online and the pool for Cambridge 0620 Extended is the same pool in Remraam as in Arabian Ranches. The real constraint is the hour. Between four and six in the afternoon, Gulf Standard Time, in the eight weeks before a June series, every family in Dubai wants the same slot. Booking a time that is slightly less convenient but reliably free is the practical answer, and it is better advice than any claim about how many tutors live nearby.

My daughter was entered for Core science and is now working above it — can that be changed?+

Possibly, and it is a school question rather than a tutor question. Cambridge separate sciences are tiered, with a Core entry capped at grade C and Extended reaching A*, and schools can usually amend an entry up to the board's deadline. Those deadlines sit months ahead of the papers, not weeks: for a June series the entry window closes in the spring, roughly four months before the first script, and the exact day is printed on your school's statement of entry rather than anywhere we could publish it. Work backwards from that and the useful conversation happens in the autumn term, while there is still time to gather evidence. Raise it with the head of science early and ask what they need to see. A tutor's useful contribution is producing an Extended past-paper script that shows she can work at that level.

How does the Dubailand school run affect when a science session can realistically start?+

More than most families allow for. The communities around Arabian Ranches 3 empty towards the same few schools between seven and eight in the morning and refill between two and four. A child home at 3.10pm is not ready to think about electrolysis at 3.30pm, and one home at 4.15pm has lost the early slot. Pick the time that works on a bad Tuesday rather than a good one. A 5pm slot that happens every week is worth considerably more to a Year 11 than a 4pm slot cancelled twice a month.

Will the mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education lessons clash with a Year 11 science catch-up plan?+

They occupy real timetable space, which is the point worth understanding. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools whatever international curriculum the school is licensed for. KHDA calculates instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit, allows schools to vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met, and advises no mandatory-subject lesson runs under 25 minutes. The practical effect is that a Dubai Year 11 has less discretionary time than the same year group in the UK, so a catch-up plan built around free periods usually needs rebuilding around evenings.

Do we need KHDA permission to hire a private science tutor in Arabian Ranches 3?+

The permit sits with the tutor, not the family, and it is issued by MoHRE rather than KHDA. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. KHDA's separate Educational Services Permit applies to training institutes with premises, which is a different thing entirely.

How can I check that a science tutor is legally permitted to teach privately in Dubai?+

Ask directly whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, and ask which eligibility category they applied under, because the categories are published and a genuine permit holder knows theirs. Applications go through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no fine schedule has been published, so treat any specific figure you are quoted with suspicion. Be wary of anyone describing themselves as approved by a regulator; the permit is a permit, not an endorsement.

What happens if no UAE-based IGCSE Physics specialist is free in our evening slot?+

You are told before anything is booked, and given three options. Take a different time with the right specialist. Take your preferred time with a strong generalist who hands back to a specialist once a slot opens. Or take a tutor based outside the UAE teaching into Gulf Standard Time, which for IB and IGCSE sciences is often an excellent option and is disclosed rather than hidden behind a local phone number. What we will not do is fill the slot with whoever is available and let you discover the mismatch in week three.

Does IB Gram send a science tutor to a villa in Arabian Ranches 3?+

No. Tuition for UAE families is one-to-one and live over video, with a shared whiteboard, screen sharing and a session recording. There are no home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the Emirates; that service exists only in India. The reason is not logistics but selection: an online slot can be filled by the right Cambridge 0620 Extended specialist, where a visit can only be filled by whoever is willing to drive out to the Dubailand belt at five in the afternoon. The rate comparison table on this page shows what that difference costs.

Start with the syllabus code and the mock paper

If your child is in Year 10 or Year 11 at a school used by Arabian Ranches 3 families, two pieces of information make the next step straightforward: the syllabus code from the exam entry, and photographs of the most recent marked science paper. With those, a tutor can sort the lost marks into categories, say honestly what six weeks will and will not achieve, and name the papers to work from. The introductory lesson is one session with the matched tutor before any commitment, and the useful question afterwards is whether anything got marked. Lessons run live over video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, for Arabian Ranches 3 and every community around it.
