IB Home Tutor in Arabian Ranches 3

Parents in Arabian Ranches 3 search for an IB home tutor because the villa is where the work happens. IB Gram answers that search with one-to-one Diploma tuition delivered live online, on Gulf Standard Time, into the same study at the same hour each week. Nobody is driven in from across Dubailand, so the match is made on subject and level rather than postcode: Physics HL, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, an Extended Essay supervisor who knows the criteria by letter. The first lesson is free and you decide afterwards.

  • Lessons run live online on Gulf Standard Time, never as a villa visit
  • Matched by syllabus and level: Physics HL, Mathematics AA, Spanish ab initio
  • First lesson free, booked before any payment and with no card details taken

IB & IGCSE in Arabian Ranches 3

Arabian Ranches 3, the Diploma, and the gap a tutor is hired to close

Arabian Ranches 3 is a handover community. Families arrived with the school run already decided, because there is no secondary campus inside the gates and the Diploma is taught somewhere else: Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City, Nord Anglia International School Dubai in Al Barsha South, Dubai International Academy, GEMS World Academy Dubai. The bus leaves early and comes back late. By the time a DP2 student is through the door, changed and fed, the evening holds perhaps two usable hours, and one of those is already spoken for by whatever the school set that day.

That is the gap a parent is describing when they type IB home tutor in Arabian Ranches 3 into Google. The phrase is about place; the problem is time and specificity. A tutor living three communities away costs the family forty minutes of driving at each end and may still not teach the right syllabus. A tutor matched on syllabus instead, Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level rather than the word maths, costs nothing in travel and starts the moment the student sits down.

So the honest position first. IB Gram does not send anyone to a villa in Arabian Ranches 3, or anywhere else in the UAE, and we do not make home visits in Dubai: those are a service we run only in India. Every UAE lesson is one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time, with a shared whiteboard the student writes on and a recording the family keeps. The keyword in this page's title is the phrase parents search. The delivery underneath it is online, and the rest of this page argues why that is the better buy for a Dubailand villa rather than a compromise a family tolerates.

The second thing worth saying early is that the Diploma is not six subjects. It is six subject grades out of seven, plus up to three points from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge read together, plus a Creativity, Activity, Service requirement that awards no points at all and can still stop a diploma being issued. Families who hire a tutor for maths and leave the core alone are often leaving the cheapest points on the table. A student predicted 34 with a C and a C in the core sits in a measurably different place from the same student holding an A and a B.

This page is written from that structure outwards: what each component demands, where the marks actually leave, what the Dubai market charges for help with it in dirhams, and what a tutor is permitted to touch on work that has to be the student's own. Where a figure appears, the source is named. Where a date matters, an entry deadline or a results window, the page points at the board's own timetable rather than restating something that can be revised without notice.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Arabian Ranches 3 children are spread across the full IB ladder, because the Dubailand ring contains continuum schools, British schools that switch to the Diploma at 16, and American schools that offer it alongside Advanced Placement. The four programmes below are the ones families here are choosing between, with what each means for tutoring in Dubai specifically.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Grade 5

Primary Years Programme

The PYP has no external examinations and no published grades, which is exactly why parents find it hard to read. Progress is reported against transdisciplinary units and learner-profile attributes, so a report can say a great deal about attitude and almost nothing about whether a child can handle fractions. The programme ends with an exhibition in the final year, a group inquiry presented to the school community. Tutoring at this stage is diagnostic rather than remedial: finding out what a cheerful report is not telling you.

Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City is the nearest PYP campus to Arabian Ranches 3, with Nord Anglia and Dubai International Academy reachable on the Al Barsha South run. Dubai parents moving in from a British primary often meet the PYP mid-stream, and the first thing they notice is that nobody has mentioned a reading age or a maths level. That is the gap a one-to-one session is useful for.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The MYP marks every subject against four criteria, A to D, each scored 1 to 8 and each measuring a different thing. A student can be strong on knowledge and weak on investigating patterns and still see one flat grade out of seven. The programme has no public examinations unless the school enters students for eAssessment, and it ends with a Personal Project in MYP 5. Tutoring that works at this stage names the criterion before it names the topic.

Dubailand families often run a British primary and an IB middle school in the same household, because the inner ring mixes both. That produces the particular Arabian Ranches 3 situation where one child is doing IGCSE past papers and another is being marked out of eight, in the same room, at the same hour. Matching two tutors to two curricula is cheaper than asking one to do both badly.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, each graded 1 to 7, plus the core. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are read together on a matrix that can add up to three points, and CAS must be completed for the diploma to be awarded at all. There are minimum-grade conditions that can withhold a diploma from a student whose total looks comfortable. Most tutoring requests from Arabian Ranches 3 arrive in DP1 term two, when the first set of real mock marks lands.

The Diploma is a minority programme in Dubai by enrolment, which is why the campuses offering it are scattered rather than local. For a family in Arabian Ranches 3 that means the nearest school teaching DP Chemistry HL may be a thirty-minute drive, and the nearest tutor who has actually taught DP Chemistry HL may be nowhere nearby at all. Online matching removes that second constraint entirely.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The Career-related Programme pairs at least two Diploma courses with a career-related study, a reflective project, a service-learning requirement, language development and a personal and professional skills course. It is not a reduced Diploma; it is a different award with its own requirements, and it suits a student with a clear vocational direction better than six academic subjects would. Few UAE schools run it, so parents often meet it for the first time as an option a counsellor has mentioned.

Because CP provision in Dubai is thin, families in the Dubailand belt usually encounter the choice as a Diploma-or-nothing conversation, and then discover the CP late. The tutoring need is specific: the Diploma courses inside the CP are marked exactly as they are in the full Diploma, so a CP student taking Business Management SL needs the same paper technique as any other Business Management SL candidate.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects Arabian Ranches 3 families request, with what each one actually assesses and where the marks tend to leave. The description matters more than the subject name: a tutor who has taught Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation HL is not interchangeable with one who has taught Analysis and Approaches HL, even though both appear on a timetable as maths.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The algebraic route, examined without a calculator on one paper and with a graphic display calculator on the others. HL adds a third paper built from extended problem-solving, where marks go on sustained method rather than on recall. Most lost marks here are notation and unjustified steps, not wrong answers.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

The modelling and statistics route, calculator-permitted throughout. Students who chose it to avoid algebra are often surprised by the volume of interpretation required: a correct regression line with no comment on what it means scores poorly. HL adds graph theory and complex numbers that schools commonly teach late in DP2.

Physics

HL and SL

Three written papers plus a scientific investigation. Paper 1 is multiple choice and data analysis; Paper 2 is extended response; Paper 3 covers the options and experimental technique. HL-only content on fields and induction is where the gap between a 5 and a 7 usually sits for Dubai students arriving from IGCSE.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms, energetics and the quantitative paper carry the heaviest loss rates. The scientific investigation needs a measurable variable chosen early, which is where most Diploma chemistry students waste a term. HL adds depth on equilibria and acid-base theory that cannot be revised quickly from notes alone.

Biology

HL and SL

The volume of content is the obstacle rather than the difficulty of any part of it. Marks leave through imprecise terminology, command terms answered at the wrong depth, and data questions where the student describes the graph instead of explaining the biology. Precision in written answers is coachable in a few sessions.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams carry marks of their own, and a correct diagram with unlabelled axes earns fewer of them than students expect. HL adds the quantitative paper and a heavier evaluation demand. The internal assessment is a set of commentaries on published articles, which rewards picking the article carefully before writing anything.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is an unseen analysis of non-literary text types, which is the component Dubai students find hardest because it cannot be revised from the texts studied in class. The individual oral links a global issue to two works. HL adds the essay. Technique transfers between texts and is the fastest thing to improve.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study driven, with a pre-released case for one paper and quantitative tools that students either learn properly or guess at. The internal assessment differs between HL and SL in both length and research base. Application to the named business, rather than textbook theory in general, is where the marks are.

Spanish and French ab initio

SL only

Designed for genuine beginners, with themes, text types and a prescribed vocabulary range. Dubai students often arrive having studied the language a little, which makes them overconfident on productive skills and underprepared for the written assessment's text-type conventions. Regular short sessions beat long infrequent ones here.

Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

Core, all candidates

Supervision rather than teaching. The essay needs a research question narrow enough to answer in 4,000 words and a method the subject recognises; the TOK exhibition needs three objects that let the student argue something. Both are graded A to E and combine for up to three points on the Diploma total.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of buying Diploma support come up in Arabian Ranches 3, and they suit different situations rather than different budgets. What follows is what each one is for, with the honest limitation attached, so the choice can be made before a trial rather than after three months.

Weekly one-to-one, same tutor, same slot

The default and the one that moves grades. A single subject, a fixed evening, the same tutor across a term, with written notes after each session and the recording kept. The value is cumulative: by week four the tutor knows which topics the student fakes confidence on, which is information no first lesson produces.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, booked at a fixed hour on Gulf Standard Time
  • Shared whiteboard the student writes on, not a tutor talking at a slide
  • Written notes and a recording after every session
  • Topic plan reviewed against the school's own scheme of work
  • Slot held through the term, including the mock window

Core supervision for the Extended Essay and TOK

Separate from subject teaching, because it is a different job. Sessions work on the research question, the structure, the method and the criteria, and the student writes every word. The school's own supervisor stays the person who signs the reflections and the form; nothing here replaces that relationship, and no tutor should pretend otherwise.

  • Research question narrowed until it can be answered in 4,000 words
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Reading list built from sources the subject actually recognises
  • Reflection sessions prepared for rather than improvised
  • Clear line stated at the first session on what a supervisor may not do

Intensive blocks before a mock or an exam series

A short, dense arrangement for a fixed purpose: two or three sessions a week across six to eight weeks, built around past-paper work and the two or three topics the data says are costing the most. Useful, limited, and honest about its limits. Eight weeks can fix technique and close two topic gaps; it cannot teach two years of Higher Level content.

  • Diagnostic first session on a real past paper, marked against the scheme
  • Two or three topics chosen, not the whole syllabus revisited
  • Timed paper practice with the clock running, every week
  • A written check at the halfway point on whether it is working
  • Explicit end date, so nobody drifts into a standing booking

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches 3

01

What an Arabian Ranches 3 search for a home tutor actually returns

Search the phrase from inside the community and the results split three ways. There are classifieds listings from individuals offering to drive out to Dubailand, usually without naming a syllabus. There are agencies with a city-wide page that mentions Arabian Ranches 3 once, in a list of forty neighbourhoods. And there are platforms that quote a price in US dollars, which is a currency no UAE family transacts school fees or tuition in. None of those three answers the question a parent is actually asking, which is whether somebody who has taught this specification, at this level, can work with this child on a Tuesday evening.

The permit position is worth knowing before you ring anyone on a classified. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and the eligible categories include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. The ministry has not published a fine schedule, so any page quoting you an amount is guessing.

That rule has a second edge in Abu Dhabi, which matters to Dubai families with relatives across the border recommending somebody. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct that bars the same thing. A tutor who offers to take your child because they already teach them in class is offering something they should not. It is a question worth asking in the first conversation rather than the fourth.

IB Gram's answer to the original search is narrower and more useful than a list of names: one tutor, matched to the syllabus and level, teaching live online on Gulf Standard Time into whichever phase of Arabian Ranches 3 you live in. No travel, no radius, no compromise on which Higher Level subject the tutor has actually taught. What follows is the structure of the qualification that tutor is being hired to work on.

02

How a Diploma total of 45 is assembled

Parents are told the Diploma is marked out of 45 and are rarely told how the 45 is built. It matters because the components are not equally expensive to improve. Six subject grades out of seven account for 42 of the points. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge contribute no points individually: their letter grades are read together on a matrix that awards up to three. CAS awards nothing and is still a condition of the award. And a set of minimum-grade rules can withhold a diploma from a candidate whose arithmetic total looks perfectly safe.

The practical consequence is a triage question. A student at 33 predicted who is sitting on a C and a C in the core is probably one grade band away from two or three extra points for a fraction of the work a subject grade would take, because the core is assessed on two pieces of writing rather than two years of content. A student at 38 with an A and a B in the core has already banked those points, and the only place left to look is the subject most likely to move from a 5 to a 6. Tutoring money spent without that triage tends to go into whichever subject feels worst, which is not the same thing as whichever subject is cheapest to lift.

The failing conditions are the part that surprises families most. A diploma can be withheld for a grade of 1 in any subject, for too many grades of 2, for an E in either core component, and for failure to complete CAS. Each of those is a cliff rather than a slope, and each is visible months in advance in the school's own reporting. A parent who knows the conditions reads a DP1 report differently: a single 2 in a Standard Level subject stops being a disappointment and becomes the thing that gets dealt with first.

The table below sets the structure out component by component. It is deliberately about what tutoring can and cannot move, because a page that lists the rules and stops has not helped anyone decide where to spend an evening a week.

03

The core: Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS

The core is the part of the Diploma that most resembles university work and gets the least tutoring attention, usually because parents cannot see it on a report card. It is also where the limits are hard numbers rather than impressions. The Extended Essay runs to 4,000 words. The TOK exhibition is 950 words across three object commentaries. The TOK essay is 1,600 words on one of the IB's prescribed titles. None of those is a target to reach; each is a ceiling that forces a decision about scope, and the decision is where supervision earns its hour.

Most Extended Essays that disappoint were lost at the research-question stage, months before anything was written. A question that would take a book to answer produces an essay that summarises instead of arguing, and summary does not score. The fix is cheap and early: narrow the question until the student can state what evidence would settle it, then check the method against what the subject actually recognises. A history essay and a biology essay are graded on the same criteria and need completely different methods, which is why subject-matched supervision beats general essay coaching.

The reflection sessions are the component families most often treat as paperwork. There are three of them with the school supervisor, including the final discussion, and they are recorded on the reflection form that goes to the IB. Treated properly, the first one is where a weak question gets caught and the last one is where the student rehearses defending the work they did. Treated as a signature exercise, they add nothing and the essay goes in with its original flaw intact.

CAS sits outside all of this and still has the power to stop a diploma. It runs across roughly eighteen months, is checked by the school's CAS coordinator against the learning outcomes, and has no marks attached. No tutor should be writing CAS reflections, and any provider offering to is offering something that puts the student at risk rather than ahead.

04

Higher Level against Standard Level, and what the extra hours cost

The difference between Higher and Standard Level is not difficulty in the abstract; it is taught hours and an extra paper. The IB builds a Standard Level course around roughly 150 hours of teaching across two years and a Higher Level course around roughly 240. That ninety-hour gap is content a student has to hold in mind simultaneously, and it is the reason a Higher Level catch-up takes proportionally longer than the same work at Standard Level rather than simply being harder per topic.

The extra paper is the part families underestimate. In most Higher Level subjects there is a third written component, built from options or extension material, and it rewards a different skill from the first two. Practising Papers 1 and 2 more does not prepare a student for it. This is a recurring pattern in Dubailand booking conversations: a student has revised conscientiously, improved on the papers they practised, and is still losing the same marks on the one paper they never set a timer for.

Route choice is the other place a Higher Level decision costs money later. A subject taken at Standard Level is rarely accepted where that subject is the degree, so a student who intends to read engineering and is sitting Mathematics at Standard Level has a problem that becomes expensive after DP1 and almost unfixable after the first term of DP2. One session with somebody who knows the entry requirements, held before the choice is locked, is the cheapest intervention on this entire page.

What does not change between the levels is the internal assessment. The same task, the same criteria, the same marks. A Higher Level and a Standard Level student can share a tutor productively for that piece of work and then need different people for the papers, which is a reasonable way to spend a limited budget.

What the Dubai market charges, and what the travel premium buys

Start with the question nobody else answers, which is what the extra money for a visit actually purchases. The in-home band in Dubai is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour: Bestimate's 2026 rate table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350, and independent home tutors advertise AED 200 to 500. A qualified subject tutor working online is published at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. The gap between those two bands is not better teaching. It is a car, a driver's hour, and a tutor pool restricted to whoever is willing to drive to Dubailand on a weekday evening.

Below that sits a budget band of AED 45 to 150 an hour, where EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. It buys homework supervision and company rather than syllabus expertise, which is a reasonable purchase for a Year 7 who will not sit down alone and a poor one for a DP2 student losing marks on Paper 3. Above the qualified band, IB, IGCSE and A-Level specialists are published at AED 200 to 450 and upward, with TutorChase quoting AED 270 and Bestimate reaching AED 450 or more. A premium tier exists above that again, with BartyED publishing AED 650.

Monthly packaging is where the travel premium shows most plainly. The market shows online packages around AED 799 a month for eight sessions and in-home packages at AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour visits. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Set against school fees those are real numbers, and worth reading next to KHDA's confirmation on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package.

Every figure above is somebody else's published rate, cited so you can check it. IB Gram does not publish a price list on these pages, because the rate depends on subject, level and how much of the core is involved; the free first lesson and the consultation exist so the number arrives with the tutor attached rather than as a band in a table.

Where Diploma marks leave in the final six months

  • Command term answered at the wrong depth: the marks sit on the verb
  • Internal assessment submitted as a first draft rather than a revised one
  • No full paper ever run against a clock before the series
  • The Higher Level third paper practised as if it were Papers 1 and 2
  • Units, axes and significant figures in the sciences and mathematics
  • A graphic display calculator trusted instead of checked

By DP2 term two the losses are rarely about not knowing the content. They are about the same four or five habits, and they are diagnosable from one marked past paper. The commonest is answering at the wrong depth: a question asking the student to outline gets three paragraphs, and a question asking them to evaluate gets a description with no judgement in it. The marks are allocated to the verb, and the verb is in the question, which makes this the cheapest thing on the list to fix.

The second is the internal assessment left at draft. Across subjects the internal assessment is worth a fifth to a quarter of the grade, and it is the one component where the student controls the conditions entirely. A draft that has had one round of criterion-level feedback and one revision reliably outperforms a draft submitted because the deadline arrived. This is also the component where the honesty line matters most, and it is drawn in the next section.

The third is time. Students who have never run a full paper against a clock discover in the exam that the last question carries as many marks as the first and gets a third of the attention. Running two timed papers in the eight weeks before a series changes the distribution of marks without changing what the student knows. The fourth is the Higher Level third paper, already discussed, which simply does not get practised. The fifth, in the sciences and mathematics, is mechanical: unlabelled axes, missing units, significant figures, a graphic display calculator used as an answer machine rather than as a check.

None of that list requires two years of tuition. It requires one marked paper, an honest conversation about which of the five is costing most, and six to eight weeks of narrow work. That is a different and cheaper purchase from a standing weekly booking, and a tutor who tells you so at the first lesson is worth more than one who does not.

07

Past papers, mark schemes and what we will not send you

Past-paper practice is the single most productive thing a Diploma student can do in the final two terms, and it has to be sourced properly. IB past papers, mark schemes, subject guides and grade-boundary tables are copyright material. IB Gram does not host them, email them or supply them as downloads, and a tutoring provider that offers you a drive full of papers is handing you a copyright problem and, where the material is unreleased, a malpractice exposure for your child. The legitimate routes are the school's own subscription, the IB's own store, and the coordinator, who can usually access more than parents expect.

What a tutor can do is work papers with the student rather than at them. There is a real difference between marking a completed paper and sitting beside a student while they attempt one, stopping at the point where the method goes wrong rather than at the point where the answer does. The second is slower and is where the learning is, because the error almost never happens in the last line. A session that covers one question properly can be worth more than one that covers a whole paper superficially.

The order also matters more than families expect. Working papers in reverse chronological order teaches a student the current style of question but hides the pattern; working them by topic until a topic is secure, then by paper once several are, produces fewer false positives. A student who scores well on a mixed paper after topic practice has learned something. A student who scores well on their fourth attempt at the same paper has learned that paper.

Cambridge and Pearson publish their own timetables and key-date documents openly, and those are the right thing to link when a date matters. IB session dates are a different case: the IB's own site blocks automated checking, so no exam or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. Any page that gives you a precise IB date without saying where it came from is guessing, and the right source is your school's IB coordinator.

Arabic, Islamic Education and the mandatory UAE subjects alongside the Diploma

A Diploma student in Dubai is not only studying six IB subjects. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements had to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. Federally, private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. That is the rule behind the timetable squeeze every DP1 parent notices and few are told about.

The organisation rules are specific. KHDA requires separate classes by group: for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, and combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because of the different curriculum expectations and language of instruction. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language; Social Studies is taught in Arabic for Arab students and in the school's licensed-curriculum language for non-Arabs. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length if the weekly total is met, and it is advised that any mandatory-subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes.

Two further constraints shape what tutoring in these subjects can honestly offer. Schools are required to ensure that all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic have appropriate KHDA approval to teach these subjects, which is a school-level credential and not something a private tutor holds. And for the mandatory UAE subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited. Support in these subjects therefore means practice against the school's own scheme of work, not a parallel syllabus, and any provider promising their own Arabic programme alongside a Dubai school's is describing something the regulations do not allow.

For an Arabian Ranches 3 family the practical effect is scheduling. The mandatory subjects occupy real timetable minutes that are not available for Diploma content, which is one reason the evening hour matters here more than it would in a system with fewer required subjects.

Booking from Arabian Ranches 3, and what happens when nobody is free

The booking sequence is short. You describe the subject, the level and the evening that works; we propose one tutor with their syllabus and level stated; the first lesson runs free, with no card details taken, and you decide afterwards whether to continue. If the match is wrong, say so after the first lesson and a different tutor is proposed rather than argued for. That is the whole process, and it is deliberately one tutor rather than a shortlist, because a shortlist transfers the work of choosing back to a parent who has no way to assess it.

What matters more than the sequence is what happens when we cannot staff a request. Specialist Higher Level coverage is not uniform. Mathematics, the three sciences, Economics and English are reliably available on UAE evening hours. An ab initio language, a less common Higher Level option, or Extended Essay supervision in a narrow subject can take longer than a fortnight, and sometimes the honest answer is that nobody suitable is free. In that case we say so. Where the tutor who fits is based in India rather than the UAE, that is stated before any payment, and the lesson is scheduled on Gulf Standard Time so the student's evening does not move.

The disclosure matters because no competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit, and several route UAE parents to non-UAE phone numbers without mentioning where the teaching happens. A page that tells you in advance which requests are hard to fill is more useful than one that promises everything and then delays. The table below is what we can actually commit to for this community.

On data: a tutoring enquiry for a Diploma student collects a child's name, school, year group, subjects and the levels they are sitting, because none of the matching works without them. We use it to propose a tutor and to run the lessons, we do not need a photograph or a report card to do that, and a request to delete it is honoured. The privacy policy linked from this page sets out the detail, under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection.

Where we tutor

The Arabian Ranches 3 sub-communities we schedule around

Arabian Ranches 3 is not one place to a tutor: it is a set of phases that handed over at different times, which changes the school run, the bus route and therefore the hour a lesson can realistically start. These are the clusters families book from, with the scheduling consequence rather than an estate-agent description.

Sun

One of the earliest phases to hand over, so households here tend to have a settled school run and a predictable evening. A 17:00 start is usually safe for a secondary student, and the later slot suits a DP2 who needs the hour after dinner rather than before it.

Joy

Townhouse layouts where the usable study space is often shared, which argues for a headset and a fixed slot rather than an open-plan arrangement. Families here frequently ask for the same tutor across two children on consecutive hours to keep the room occupied once.

Ruba

Larger plots with a ground-floor study in most layouts, which makes the 16:30 slot workable if the bus is on time. The practical question here is not space but whether a younger sibling's activity schedule collides with the booked hour.

Spring

A later handover phase, so a number of families are still settling a school choice and running a longer commute than they expect to keep. Short-term bookings around a mock series are common, with a review once the campus decision is final.

Bliss

Families here frequently split between the inner Dubailand British schools and the Al Barsha South IB campuses, which produces two different pick-up times in one household. Staggered 16:30 and 18:00 slots solve it without anyone sitting in a car.

Caya

Commutes from this side of the community run toward Dubai Hills and Al Barsha rather than Motor City, so afternoon traffic lands differently. An 18:00 start is more reliable than a 17:00 one during term, and noticeably easier in Ramadan.

June

Newer handovers, where a study is often still being furnished when tutoring starts. A laptop, a headset and a door that closes is the whole requirement; the shared whiteboard does the work a desk and paper would otherwise do.

Anya and Raya

The outer phases, furthest from the main entrance, which adds minutes to every car journey and makes an online slot more valuable than a shorter commute would. Weekend morning sessions are requested more often from these clusters than from the rest of the community.

Diploma campuses Arabian Ranches 3 families drive to

There is no Diploma school inside Arabian Ranches 3, so DP students here commute. These are the campuses that come up most often in booking conversations, and the drive is what makes a fixed online slot easier to keep than a tutor arriving after the same traffic.

  • Fairgreen International School, The Sustainable City
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai, Al Barsha South
  • Dubai International Academy, Al Barsha
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Dwight School Dubai
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai

The British-route schools inside the Dubailand ring

Most Arabian Ranches 3 children attend one of these, which means IGCSE at 16 and a decision about the Diploma afterwards. Families often hire a tutor during Year 11 and keep the same arrangement into DP1, which is the point at which the subject match has to tighten.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School, Dubai Sports City
  • South View School, Remraam
  • Dubai British School Mira
  • The Aquila School, Dubailand

Schools are named here as local context for families choosing a campus or a tutor. IB Gram has no affiliation with, and claims no endorsement from, any school or school group listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, the level and the evening

Not the word maths but Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and not after school but the hour the bus actually gets back to your phase of Arabian Ranches 3. Those two details decide which tutors are even candidates, and getting them right in the first message removes a week of back and forth.

  2. 02

One tutor proposed, with their syllabus stated

You receive a single match rather than a shortlist, with the specification they teach, the level they teach it at and their permit position. If the subject is one where coverage is thin, you are told that at this stage rather than after a fortnight of silence.

  3. 03

A free first lesson, before any payment

One session, held at the slot you asked for, with no card details taken beforehand. The student does the talking and the writing; the tutor diagnoses rather than presents. Afterwards you decide. There is no condition attached beyond it being one lesson with one tutor.

  4. 04

A written plan for the term, not a vague promise

After the first lesson the tutor sets out which topics are being worked on, in what order, and what will be used to tell whether it is working: a marked past paper, a criterion-level improvement on an internal assessment draft, a timed section completed inside the time allowed.

  5. 05

Review at the halfway point, and stop if it is done

Mid-term the plan is checked against the evidence rather than against how the sessions feel. Where the work is finished, we say so and the booking ends. An intensive block before a mock series is supposed to have an end date, and a provider that never finds one is selling a subscription.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The match is on syllabus, not on distance

A radius search around Arabian Ranches 3 returns whoever lives nearby. An online match returns whoever has taught the specification at the level your child is sitting. For a Higher Level subject with a third paper, that distinction is the whole difference between a tutor who can help and one who can only supervise homework.

Every rate on this page is somebody's published figure

The AED bands here are attributed to the provider or the rate survey that published them, so you can check them yourself. Three of the six main competitors in this market publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars. A number you cannot verify is not information.

The honesty line on coursework is stated, not implied

No tutor may write the Extended Essay, the TOK essay or an internal assessment for a student. Support means teaching, criterion-level feedback on the student's own draft, and process coaching. One operator in this market sells completed internal assessments; that is a malpractice trigger for the student, not a shortcut.

Coverage limits are published before you book

Some Higher Level options and ab initio languages are genuinely hard to staff on UAE evening hours. Where that is true you are told at the match stage, including whether the tutor who fits is based outside the UAE. No competitor page researched in this market discloses a coverage limit at all.

No regulator is claimed as a sponsor

KHDA regulates private schools in Dubai and the MoHRE permit governs private tutors; neither endorses IB Gram, and this page does not suggest otherwise. A provider advertising KHDA-approved tutors is describing something that does not exist in that form, and it is the single most common claim in this market.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches 3: your questions answered

Is there any way to get an in-home IB tutor inside the Arabian Ranches 3 gates?+

Not through IB Gram. We do not send anyone to a UAE address; in-home visits are a service we run only in India. The market does offer them, at a published AED 180 to 500 an hour depending on the provider, and a family who wants that specifically should hire locally and ask to see the tutor's MoHRE private tuition work permit. What we offer instead is one-to-one Diploma tuition over live video on Gulf Standard Time, matched on syllabus and level rather than on who is willing to drive to Dubailand on a Tuesday.

How do the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge add points to the Diploma total?+

Neither carries points on its own. Both are graded A to E, and the two letters are read together on the IB's core matrix, which awards up to three points toward the total of 45. A grade of E in either component is also a failing condition that can withhold the diploma regardless of the arithmetic. The practical consequence is that lifting the weaker of the two letters is often cheaper than lifting a subject grade, because the core is assessed on two pieces of writing rather than on two years of content. Your school's coordinator holds the current matrix.

What is the CAS requirement and can it really stop a diploma being awarded?+

Creativity, Activity, Service runs across roughly eighteen months of the Diploma, is recorded in a portfolio against the programme's learning outcomes, and carries no marks. Completion is nonetheless a condition of the award, so a student with a strong points total and an incomplete CAS record does not receive the diploma. It is checked by the school's CAS coordinator, not by an external examiner. No tutor should be drafting CAS reflections: the record has to be the student's own account of what they did, and a provider offering to write it is creating a problem rather than solving one.

How many of the 45 Diploma points can a tutor realistically influence?+

Honestly, fewer than most marketing suggests, and the number depends on where the student is. Six subject grades account for 42 points and move in whole bands, so a realistic weekly arrangement in one subject is aiming at one band in that subject. The core adds up to three points and is often the cheaper target because it rests on two pieces of writing. The reliable gains are technique rather than knowledge: command terms answered at the right depth, a revised internal assessment instead of a first draft, and a paper completed inside the time allowed.

Which Diploma campuses do Arabian Ranches 3 families usually drive to?+

There is no Diploma school inside Arabian Ranches 3, so students commute. The campuses that come up most in booking conversations are Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City, Nord Anglia International School Dubai and Dubai International Academy in the Al Barsha South direction, GEMS World Academy Dubai, Dwight School Dubai and Swiss International Scientific School Dubai. Those are named as local context; IB Gram has no affiliation with any of them. The commute is the reason a fixed online slot is easier to hold than an arrangement that depends on a second car journey in the same evening.

What does the Dubai market charge for Extended Essay supervision in dirhams?+

Providers rarely price the core separately, so it generally sits in the specialist band: published figures put IB, IGCSE and A-Level specialists at AED 200 to 450 an hour and upward, with TutorChase quoting AED 270 and Bestimate reaching AED 450 or more. Supervision also tends to need fewer hours than a subject, concentrated at the research-question stage and again before each reflection session. IB Gram does not publish a rate on this page because it depends on the subject of the essay; the free first session exists so the figure arrives with a named supervisor attached.

My son is in Sun and finishes school at 15:30. When can a session realistically start?+

Allow for the bus rather than the bell. From most of the Dubailand campuses a 15:30 finish puts a child inside Arabian Ranches 3 somewhere between 16:15 and 16:45, and a secondary student needs food and twenty minutes before anything useful happens. A 17:00 start works for most households in the earlier phases; 18:00 is more reliable during heavy term weeks and noticeably easier in Ramadan. Because the lesson is online there is no second journey to absorb, which is what makes the later slot practical rather than theoretical.

What may an Extended Essay supervisor do that a tutor from outside the school may not?+

Your school's supervisor is the person who holds the three reflection sessions, records them on the reflection form and confirms the work is the student's own. An outside tutor cannot replace that and should not pretend to. What an outside tutor can do is narrow the research question, check the method against what the subject recognises, read the student's own draft against the published criteria and give feedback on it, and prepare the student for the final discussion. What nobody may do is write any part of it. That line is the student's protection, not a formality.

Are IB past papers and mark schemes something IB Gram can send us?+

No. IB past papers, mark schemes, subject guides and grade-boundary tables are copyright material, and we do not host, email or supply them. Any provider offering you a folder of papers is handing you a copyright problem, and where the material is unreleased it becomes a malpractice exposure for your child. The legitimate sources are your school's own subscription and your IB coordinator, who can usually access more than parents expect. A tutor's job is to work the papers with the student, which is a different thing from supplying them.

Does a Higher Level subject genuinely need more tutoring hours than a Standard Level one?+

Yes, and for a structural reason rather than a vague one. The IB builds a Standard Level course around roughly 150 taught hours across two years and a Higher Level course around roughly 240. That gap is content the student has to hold simultaneously, so catch-up is proportionally longer. Higher Level also usually adds a third written paper drawn from options or extension material, which rewards a different skill from the first two and therefore needs its own timed practice. Revising Papers 1 and 2 harder does not prepare anybody for it.

Do Arabic and Islamic Education still have to run alongside the Diploma in a Dubai school?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA required its current arrangements to be in place by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Schools must run separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies; combined classes are prohibited. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. For a DP1 timetable that means real minutes which are not available for Diploma content, which is what makes the evening hour matter.

How do we check that a private tutor in Dubai is legally permitted to teach?+

Ask to see the MoHRE private tuition work permit. It was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. It is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system under the service named Issuance of a New Work Permit, Private Tutor Licensing, which lists no fee. Anyone tutoring without one is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

Is the free trial lesson conditional, and what exactly are the conditions?+

It is one lesson, with one proposed tutor, at the slot you asked for, and no card details are taken before it runs. That is the whole condition. It is not a shortened demonstration and it is not a sales call with a student present: the tutor spends it diagnosing, usually on a real past paper or the student's current internal assessment draft, and you get the written notes afterwards whether you continue or not. If the match is wrong, saying so is the expected outcome and a different tutor is proposed.

We are early in DP1 with no crisis yet. Is it too soon to start?+

DP1 is the cheapest moment to intervene, which is the opposite of how most families use tutoring. Two things are decided in DP1 and expensive to change later: whether the Higher Level choices match the degree the student intends to read, and whether the Extended Essay research question is narrow enough to answer. A single session on each, held before the choices lock, costs less than a term of remedial work in DP2. If nothing is wrong, a diagnostic session that confirms it is a reasonable purchase and the honest answer afterwards is to wait.

What happens if no UAE-based tutor covers our Higher Level option?+

You are told before you book rather than after. Mathematics, the three sciences, Economics and English are reliably staffed on UAE evening hours. An ab initio language, an unusual Higher Level option or Extended Essay supervision in a narrow subject can take longer than a fortnight, and sometimes nobody suitable is free at all. If the person who fits the brief sits in India rather than the UAE, you hear that at the match stage, and the slot stays on Gulf Standard Time. Where there is genuinely nobody, we say no rather than send somebody unsuited.

Start with one marked paper, not a subscription

The useful first step for a Diploma student in Arabian Ranches 3 is small: one past paper, worked with a tutor who teaches that specification at that level, marked against the published criteria rather than against an impression. That single session tells you whether the problem is content, technique, timing or the internal assessment, and those four problems have different prices and different timescales. Tell us the subject, the level and the hour the bus gets back to your phase. We will propose one tutor, state their syllabus and permit position, run the first lesson free with no card details taken, and give you the notes either way.
