IGCSE Maths Tutor in The Greens

Most pages selling an IGCSE maths tutor in The Greens start at the top of the market. This one starts at the bottom, with the help that costs nothing, works through the cheap options in order, and only then explains what a specialist at the Dubai market's upper rates is actually for. The honest answer for many Year 10 students in this community is that they do not need the most expensive hour available.

  • Cheapest useful option named first, including the free ones
  • Syllabus code and tier confirmed before any rate is quoted
  • Free trial lesson first, with no card details taken to book it
  • One-to-one over live video; no UAE home visits, no UAE centre

IB & IGCSE in The Greens

Start with the cheapest thing that works

There is a reasonable chance your child does not need a paid maths tutor yet. Before anything is booked, three cheaper things exist in this community and all of them are routinely skipped. The school's own after-school maths clinic is already inside the fees you pay. Past papers and the school's mark schemes are free. And a single diagnostic hour, bought once, tells you whether the problem is practice, technique or tier, which decides whether you need six hours or sixty.

That order matters because the Dubai market is enormously wide. Published rates in 2026 run from roughly AED 45 an hour for budget and university-student online tutoring up to AED 450 and beyond for subject specialists, with premium named tutors quoted at AED 500 to 650. The same subject, the same syllabus, a tenfold spread. Nothing about a grade-5 Year 10 who has stopped practising requires the top of that range, and plenty of families in The Greens pay it anyway because it was the first number they were quoted.

Where the money genuinely has to be spent is narrower than the marketing suggests. A tier change from Core to Extended is a term of unfamiliar content and needs someone who knows precisely which topics sit beyond the shared core. A target of a grade 8 or 9 needs someone fluent in the mark scheme, because the last two bands are won on method marks and wording rather than on answers. A re-sit against a November deadline needs a plan, not enthusiasm. Those three jobs justify specialist rates. General catch-up usually does not.

The second decision that moves the bill is which syllabus your child is actually on, and most parents in this community cannot name it. Cambridge 0580 and its nine-to-one sibling 0980 sit one paper without a calculator and one with. Cambridge 0607 International Mathematics assumes a graphic display calculator and adds an investigation paper, which makes it a different course to teach. Pearson 4MA1 permits a calculator in both papers. A tutor priced for one of these and teaching another wastes the first month.

Everything below is built in that order: the options from free upwards, the tier decision, the syllabus codes, where marks are genuinely lost, what a term buys, and what a re-sit costs in time. Every AED figure is a published Dubai market rate rather than ours, and all IB Gram lessons in the UAE are delivered one-to-one over live video, since home visits are an India-only service.

One more thing worth settling before you spend anything. Ask the school which tier your child is entered for and when that entry closes, because the tier caps the grade and the deadline sits months ahead of the paper. A UAE candidate sits the June series or the November series, and a Cambridge June entry closes in the spring, roughly four months before the first paper; Pearson's November 2026 papers ran to 19 November 2026 on an entry filed earlier in the year. That is the gap most families underestimate. A tutor hired after the entry has closed cannot change a ceiling that was fixed before revision started, and knowing that in Year 10 is worth more than any negotiation over an hourly rate.

At a glance

  • The school's own maths clinic is already paid for
  • One diagnostic hour is cheaper than a month of guessing
  • Cambridge Core caps the grade at C whatever the revision
  • Cambridge 0580 and 0980 sit one non-calculator paper; Pearson 4MA1 does not
  • Published Dubai rates span AED 45 to beyond AED 450 an hour

Four mathematics qualifications are sat at sixteen in the schools around The Greens, and they are not interchangeable. The code on the exam entry decides which tutor is relevant and roughly what the hour should cost.

0580Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics

The common British-curriculum route in Dubai, tiered Core and Extended, examined over two papers in a June or November series. On the syllabus examined from 2025 one paper is sat without a calculator and one with, which changed the preparation materially: arithmetic and algebraic fluency by hand became a graded skill rather than a habit the calculator covered.

Families in The Greens most often discover the non-calculator paper exists when a mock mark arrives. A Cambridge 0580 maths tutor in Dubai should be asked which paper your child is weaker on before any plan is agreed, because the two papers reward different things and practising the wrong one feels productive while changing nothing.

0607Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics

The route built for students heading into the IB Diploma. It assumes a graphic display calculator throughout and adds an investigation paper to the two written ones, so part of the grade comes from exploring an unfamiliar problem rather than from answering set questions. Core and Extended tiers exist here too.

Several Diploma campuses within reach of The Greens prefer 0607 precisely because it rehearses the skills the Diploma's exploration later assesses. It is also the syllabus most often mispriced, because a tutor who has only taught 0580 will not have taught an investigation paper at all and that component cannot be improvised.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A

Tiered Foundation and Higher, two papers of two hours each, with a calculator permitted throughout. The Higher tier reaches the top grades and the Foundation tier caps out partway up the scale, so the entry decision does the same job as Cambridge's Core and Extended split under different names.

A Pearson 4MA1 maths tutor in Dubai teaches a different paper shape rather than different mathematics. The November series is the practical advantage for a Greens family: Pearson runs International GCSE examinations in May and June and again in November each year, so a missed grade does not cost a full academic year.

0606Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics

An extra qualification taken alongside 0580 or 0607 by students heading for A Level Mathematics or Higher Level Analysis and Approaches. It introduces calculus, logarithms and binomial expansion a year early, over two papers with a calculator permitted, and it is the cleanest bridge between sixteen and post-16 mathematics.

Around The Greens, 0606 is usually offered to the top set in Year 11 and taught in less curriculum time than it deserves. Families who add a short block of support here rather than a general catch-up arrangement get better value, because the content is new to everyone and nobody is behind yet.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

IGCSE mathematics is one subject and a dozen separable skills. These are the topics that actually cost marks in the schools around The Greens, with the reason each one costs them.

Arithmetic without a calculator

Core and Extended on Cambridge

Fractions, decimals, standard form and percentage change done by hand under time pressure. Students who met the whole course with a calculator on the desk are fluent in method and slow in execution, and on the Cambridge non-calculator paper slow is the same as wrong.

Algebraic manipulation

Core and Extended

Expanding, factorising, rearranging and simplifying algebraic fractions. It is the skill every other topic depends on, so a weakness here shows up as scattered losses across the whole paper rather than as one identifiable gap.

Sequences and the nth term

Core and Extended

Linear, quadratic and, at Extended, cubic and exponential sequences. Students usually recognise the pattern and lose the marks writing the general rule, which is an algebra problem wearing a sequences costume.

Coordinate geometry and graphs

Core and Extended

Gradients, parallel and perpendicular lines, and sketching quadratics and reciprocals. Marks concentrate in the questions that give a graph and ask for the equation, where a sketch is not enough and the algebra has to be written out.

Functions and transformations

Extended only

Composite and inverse functions and the transformations of a curve. This is content a Core candidate never meets, which makes it the main cost of moving a student up a tier partway through Year 10 or Year 11.

Mensuration and three-dimensional work

Core and Extended

Surface area, volume, arcs, sectors and problems that combine solids. The losses are almost always units and rounding rather than concepts, and both are fixed by habit rather than by teaching.

Trigonometry

Core and Extended

Right-angled trigonometry at Core; the sine and cosine rules, area of a triangle and three-dimensional bearings at Extended. The bearings questions are the reliable marks most students drop, because the diagram is never drawn.

Vectors and matrices

Extended only

Column vectors, magnitude, and geometric proof using vector paths. Marks come from writing a route through a diagram in vector form, which is a notation skill rather than a reasoning one and improves quickly with practice.

Probability, including conditional

Core and Extended

Tree and Venn diagrams at both tiers, with conditional probability at Extended. Students lose marks by multiplying when the question has removed an item without replacement, which is a reading error that drilling the same question type does not fix.

Statistics and data handling

Core and Extended

Averages from grouped data, cumulative frequency, histograms with unequal intervals and box plots. Histogram frequency density is the single most predictable lost mark in the subject, and it takes about twenty minutes to teach properly.

Ratio, proportion and rates of change

Core and Extended

Direct and inverse proportion, compound interest, exponential growth and speed problems. These appear in the four and five-mark problems at the end of a paper, where the mathematics is simple and the extraction of information from the wording is not.

Multi-step problem solving

Core and Extended

The long questions carrying four or five marks each, which combine two or three topics and award method marks along the way. Students who abandon these questions lose far more than they realise, since partial working is credited and a blank space is not.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Four ways to buy, listed smallest first. All are delivered one-to-one over live video with screen sharing for past papers, and all of them start with the same free trial session.

One diagnostic session, bought once

A single hour spent working through a past paper with the student, after which you are told which two topics are costing the most marks, whether the weakness is technique or practice, and whether the tier on the exam entry matches the marks being produced. It often removes the need for anything else.

  • A real past paper, marked against the real scheme
  • Two named topics rather than a general impression
  • An honest answer about whether tutoring is needed at all

A six-week topic block

Six sessions on the two topics a diagnostic identified, then it stops. This is the plan that suits most Year 10 students in The Greens and the one least often sold to them, because a block has an end date and a standing weekly arrangement does not.

  • Fixed number of sessions, agreed in advance
  • Two topics, finished rather than visited
  • Reassessed with a timed paper at the end

One hour a week through Year 11

The standing arrangement, for students carrying several gaps or aiming at the top two bands where method marks and wording decide the grade. It is worth its cost when the student arrives with specific questions and poor value when it becomes supervised homework.

  • Fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time
  • Past-paper work from the second half of the autumn term
  • Reviewed each term against whether it is still needed

A short block before the mocks or a re-sit

Four to eight sessions aimed at timed technique rather than at new content, used before a mock series or in the run-up to a November entry. It is priced at the busiest point in the tutoring calendar, so it works best as a top-up on groundwork already done.

  • Complete papers under timed conditions every session
  • No new content introduced after the halfway point
  • Planned backwards from the published entry deadline

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in The Greens

01

The cheapest honest way to get IGCSE maths help in The Greens

The table below lists every realistic option in ascending order of cost, including the two that cost nothing. It is deliberately unflattering to the expensive end, because the expensive end is what every other page for this query leads with. Read it from the top and stop at the first row that matches your child's actual problem rather than your level of worry.

Two rows deserve emphasis. The school's own after-school clinic is already inside fees you have paid, and in the schools around The Greens it is typically run by the teacher who will mark the mocks. Past papers with the published mark schemes are free from the school and are the single highest-yield activity in Year 11, provided somebody looks at the pattern of errors rather than only the total.

The paid rows separate on a simple question: are you buying repetition or diagnosis? Repetition is a commodity, and the budget end of the Dubai market, advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, supplies it adequately for a Core or Foundation candidate who understands the method. Diagnosis is not a commodity. Identifying that a student is losing eleven marks a paper to histogram frequency density and unit conversion, rather than to a general weakness in statistics, is what the specialist band of AED 200 to 450 and upwards is actually for.

Every figure in this table comes from published Dubai rate cards and from Bestimate's 2026 tutoring cost table for the emirate. None of them is an IB Gram price, and they appear here so you can judge any quote you receive, ours included, against the market rather than against nothing.

Core or Extended: the decision that caps the grade

This is the most consequential and least discussed decision in IGCSE mathematics. Cambridge 0580 is tiered: a Core entry makes grades C to G available and an Extended entry makes A* to E available. Pearson 4MA1 does the same thing under different names, with Foundation reaching partway up the scale and Higher reaching the top. The tier is fixed by the school's examination entry, months before the paper, and no amount of revision afterwards raises the ceiling it sets.

The practical consequence is that a parent discovering a Core entry in April is discovering something that cannot be changed for that series. A parent discovering it in September of Year 11 still has time, and the conversation with the school is specific rather than general: here is the mark my child produced on a recent Extended paper, here are the topics beyond the shared core they have not yet met, is there a route to moving the entry.

Moving up costs roughly a term of unfamiliar content. Functions and transformations, vectors, conditional probability and the harder algebraic work sit outside the Core syllabus entirely, so the student is not revising, they are learning. That is real work and it is the one scenario in IGCSE mathematics where a specialist rate is straightforwardly justified, because the tutor needs to know exactly which topics the Core course omitted.

The reverse case is just as real and nobody sells it. A student entered for Extended who is reliably producing marks in the lower bands may be better served by consolidating what the entry already allows than by chasing content they will not reach. That conversation belongs with the school, and a tutor's job in it is to supply evidence from timed papers rather than an opinion.

Which maths syllabus you are actually paying for

Four mathematics codes are sat at sixteen in the schools around The Greens, and they ask for different things. A tutor who teaches one well and the others vaguely will spend the first month coaching the wrong paper structure, which is a cost whatever the hourly rate. The code is printed on the examination entry, and asking for it is a two-minute job that removes the most avoidable mismatch in this market.

Cambridge 0580 and 0980 are the same course reported on different grade scales, nine to one on 0980 and A* to G on 0580. Both sit one paper without a calculator and one with, on the syllabus examined from 2025. Cambridge 0607 International Mathematics is a genuinely different animal: it assumes a graphic display calculator and adds an investigation paper, so a share of the grade comes from exploring an unfamiliar problem. Pearson 4MA1 permits a calculator in both of its two-hour papers.

The investigation paper on 0607 is where mispricing bites hardest. A tutor whose experience is entirely 0580 has never taught that component, and it cannot be improvised from general mathematical ability because it is assessed on process. Families in the Emirates Living cluster whose children are heading for the Diploma are disproportionately on 0607, so this is a local rather than a theoretical risk.

Verify every code on the board's own site rather than on a tutoring page, this one included. Cambridge publishes syllabuses at cambridgeinternational.org and Pearson at qualifications.pearson.com, and both revise specifications on a published cycle. Cambridge also allocates each examination centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one.

Where the marks actually go, and what that costs to fix

  • Histogram frequency density: one short session, recurring marks
  • Units and rounding in mensuration: a habit, not a gap
  • Non-calculator fluency: weeks of short practice, not explanation
  • Abandoned long questions: method marks given away for free

Marks in IGCSE mathematics are lost in predictable places, and the price of fixing each one varies by an order of magnitude. Histogram frequency density takes about twenty minutes to teach and recurs in almost every series. Unit conversion and rounding errors in mensuration are habits rather than gaps and are fixed by checking working aloud for three sessions. Neither needs a specialist and both are worth more marks than most families expect.

A second group costs more. Algebraic fluency is the substrate of the whole paper, so a weakness there appears as scattered losses rather than a single identifiable gap, and rebuilding it takes weeks of short daily practice rather than hours of explanation. On the Cambridge non-calculator paper this is the dominant cost, because students who met the course with a calculator permanently available have method without execution.

A third group is reading rather than mathematics. The four and five-mark problems at the end of a paper combine two or three topics and award method marks along the way, and the commonest error is abandoning them. A student who writes the first two steps of a five-mark question earns marks a blank space does not, and teaching that habit is cheap, fast and worth more than another topic.

The diagnostic hour exists to tell you which of those three groups you are dealing with. A general impression that a child is weak at statistics is not a diagnosis and cannot be priced. Eleven marks lost across frequency density, cumulative frequency reading and grouped-data means can be fixed in two sessions. That is the difference between a six-hour plan and a sixty-hour one, and it is why the cheapest purchase on this page is the first one.

05

What a term of tutoring buys, and what it does not

A term is roughly twelve weeks, so a weekly hour is twelve sessions. At the Dubai market's middle band of AED 150 to 300 an hour that is about AED 1,800 to 3,600 for the term, and at specialist rates of AED 200 to 450 it is AED 2,400 to 5,400. Those are the real numbers a family should hold in mind, because an hourly figure makes a decision feel smaller than it is.

Twelve sessions, used well, reliably does three things. It clears two or three named topics completely. It builds the habit of timed paper practice, which most students will not do unsupervised. And it produces evidence about the tier, which is the one decision with a hard deadline attached. That is a good return and it is achievable at the middle of the market rather than the top.

What twelve sessions will not do is rebuild two years of missing algebra, and no honest provider should imply otherwise. A Year 11 producing grade-2 marks on Extended papers is not a tutoring problem of one term's size; that situation needs a conversation with the school about the tier first and a longer plan second. Buying a term of specialist hours against it is the most expensive way to arrive at the same conclusion.

Nobody can promise a particular grade from a particular number of sessions, and a provider who does should be questioned rather than hired. What twelve sessions can promise is that the student will have sat complete papers under timed conditions, had them marked against the published criteria, and been told plainly which topics still cost marks.

06

Group, centre or one-to-one: the value question here

Group classes are genuinely cheaper per student, and in the Al Sufouh and Al Barsha belt within reach of The Greens they are genuinely available. The question is not price but fit. A group works when three or four students are weak on the same topics and at roughly the same level, because the teaching is identical for all of them and the discussion between students adds something a one-to-one session does not.

A group fails in a specific and predictable way. One student is a tier behind the others, or has a different gap, and the pace is set by the median. That student attends for a term, feels busy, and produces the same marks in the mocks. Parents rarely find out until the mock results arrive, because attendance and effort both look fine from outside.

Tuition centres with premises are a different legal animal from an individual tutor in the UAE, which is worth knowing when you compare them. An operation with premises and staff in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. An individual providing private lessons needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit instead.

One-to-one online sits between the two on price and above both on precision, because the hour is spent on your child's error pattern rather than on the group's. For a family in The Greens it also avoids the travel premium entirely. IB Gram does not run a centre in Dubai and does not make home visits in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service.

07

Additional Mathematics 0606 and the step into post-16 maths

Additional Mathematics is the most under-supported qualification in this market. It is taken alongside 0580 or 0607 by top sets in Year 11, it introduces calculus, logarithms and binomial expansion, and it is frequently taught in whatever curriculum time is left over. Students are not behind on it, because nobody has seen it before, which makes a short block of support unusually efficient.

Its value is forward-looking. A student who has met differentiation and integration at sixteen begins A Level Mathematics or Higher Level Analysis and Approaches with the first term already familiar, and the first term is where most post-16 mathematics attrition happens. Pearson's Further Pure Mathematics 4PM1 plays the same role on the Edexcel route.

The cost case is straightforward. A block of six to eight sessions in Year 11 on 0606 content costs less than a term of remedial work in Year 12, and it is bought at a quieter point in the calendar. For Greens families whose children are heading for engineering, mathematics or physics, this is the cheapest hedge available against a difficult first Diploma or A Level year.

The caution is that 0606 should not be bought as a status purchase. A student who is not secure on Extended 0580 content gains nothing from calculus a year early and loses time they needed for the main qualification. The diagnostic question is whether the 0580 Extended marks are already in the top two bands; if they are not, the money belongs on 0580.

08

Re-sits, the November option and private candidates

A missed grade is not a lost year, and the published calendars show why. Cambridge runs IGCSE and O Level examinations in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Pearson runs International GCSE examinations in May and June and again in November each year. Either board therefore offers a second attempt within months rather than a year.

The table below lays out what the published dates mean in practice for the two series a UAE candidate can actually sit. Pearson's completed November 2025 series is the cleanest illustration, because every date in it is settled: the papers ran in late October and November and the grades reached students on 22 January 2026, a wait of just over two months. Its November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026 on the same pattern. On the Cambridge side, June entries close in the spring and results follow in August, while the November series exists as the second attempt, with grades arriving the following January.

Entering as a private candidate rather than through the school is possible and adds administration rather than difficulty. The centre handles the entry, the fee is set by the centre and the board rather than by a tutor, and the deadlines are earlier than families expect. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so the right habit is to work from the live official timetable rather than from a restated date on any tutoring page, including this one.

The planning point for a Greens family is the gap between the last paper and the result. Three to five months is normal. A student re-sitting in November to strengthen a post-16 application needs that arithmetic in front of them in September, not in January, because the application deadline rarely moves to accommodate it.

What to stop paying for

  • Three sessions with no agenda beyond homework is a drift signal
  • Ask each term which two topics the next twelve sessions will clear
  • Online rates and in-home rates differ by travel, not by teaching
  • Treat any guaranteed grade as a reason to ask harder questions

Supervised homework. A tutor who spends the hour watching your child complete the work the school set is being paid teaching rates for invigilation. It feels productive because the homework gets done, and it produces no change in a mock mark. If three consecutive sessions have no agenda beyond the current homework, the arrangement has drifted and should either be redirected or stopped.

A standing weekly hour that outlived its purpose. The block that fixed two topics in October frequently continues until May because cancelling feels like giving up. Each term is worth a direct question: which two topics will the next twelve sessions clear, and what evidence says they are still weak. If the answer is vague, the money is buying reassurance rather than marks.

The travel premium. In-home one-to-one visits in Dubai are quoted from roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel inside the price, and monthly packages of four two-hour visits have been advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799. At the same qualification level, online rates sit lower. For a household in The Greens whose usable weekday window runs from about four o'clock to half past seven, that premium costs evening minutes as well as dirhams.

And anything that looks like a guaranteed outcome. No tutor can guarantee a grade, and any page that promises one is either describing a refund policy it has not published or making a claim it cannot stand behind. What can be promised is the process: a diagnostic first, named topics, timed papers, and an honest answer when tutoring is not the right purchase.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around The Greens

Hourly rates barely move across these communities. What does move is how much free or shared help is already available, which is the first thing worth checking before paying anyone.

The Views

Shares schools and therefore shares after-school clinic timetables with The Greens. Parents here often find that the school's own Year 11 maths session covers exactly the topic they were about to buy, and it is already inside the fees.

Dubai Internet City

Apartment households where parents commonly work past six, so the realistic saving is not a lower rate but a later slot that the student actually attends. Paying for a five o'clock session the child reaches at twenty past is the quietest waste in this area.

The Springs

Villa families on the far side of Al Khail Road, where siblings on the same syllabus are common. Two children a year apart on 0580 can share a tutor's expertise without sharing a session, since the second year repeats the first year's topics.

The Meadows

Several households here have children on 0607 rather than 0580, because the local campus points towards the Diploma. That syllabus difference is worth confirming before comparing a quote with a neighbour's, since the courses are not the same job.

Emirates Hills

Where premium rates of AED 500 an hour and upwards are most often quoted and most often unnecessary. The useful test is whether a diagnostic session identified two named topics; if it produced a general impression, the premium is buying a reputation rather than a diagnosis.

Al Sufouh

Long-established British-curriculum campuses with large Year 11 cohorts, which means group revision classes are genuinely available locally. A group works when a whole friendship set is weak on the same topic and fails when it is covering for one student's gap.

Al Barsha and Al Barsha South

The widest choice of schools and the widest spread of quoted rates within reach of The Greens. Comparing two quotes from here without first checking the syllabus code and the tier is how families end up paying Extended prices for Core work.

Jumeirah Village and Al Furjan

Longer journeys down Al Khail Road, which makes in-home arrangements expensive in evening minutes as well as in dirhams. Online delivery is close to universal for Year 11 mathematics in this corridor for exactly that reason.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in The Greens

Schools near The Greens whose Year 11s continue to A Level

On this route the IGCSE grade is a gateway to a two-year linear course, and the usual entry expectation for A Level Mathematics is a strong grade at Extended or Higher tier. That makes the tier decision in Year 10 a post-16 decision as much as a Year 11 one.

Schools near The Greens whose Year 11s continue into the IB Diploma

Here the IGCSE grade feeds a choice between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, and a 0607 background rehearses the investigative work the Diploma later assesses. Students arriving from 0580 sometimes need a short bridging block instead.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Find the code and the tier

Look at the examination entry and send the syllabus code and the tier: 0580 Core, 0580 Extended, 0607, 4MA1 Foundation, 4MA1 Higher. That single line decides which tutors are relevant and what the hour should reasonably cost, and it is the step most families skip.

  2. 02

    Buy one diagnostic hour first

The free trial session is a real past paper worked through with your child, with no card details taken to book it. You get back two named topics, a view on whether the weakness is technique or practice, and an honest statement if the answer is that no tutoring is needed yet.

  3. 03

Choose the smallest plan that fits the diagnosis

Two named topics is a six-session block. Scattered algebraic weakness is a weekly hour for a term. A tier change is a specialist and a longer run. Buying the largest of these by default is how a four-figure plan becomes a five-figure one without improving the mark.

  4. 04

Set the slot against the bus, not the bell

Secondary days around The Greens finish between about 15:00 and 15:30, and clubs and traffic push arrival later. Sessions are booked in Gulf Standard Time at a time the student is reliably free, usually between 16:15 and 18:00, and they move rather than lapse when a fixture overruns.

  5. 05

Review it against a timed paper, then decide

At the end of a block the student sits a complete paper under timed conditions and it is marked against the published criteria. The result decides whether the arrangement continues, changes shape or stops. Stopping is a legitimate outcome and it is recommended where the evidence supports it.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The free options come first on this page

The school's own maths clinic and past papers with mark schemes appear above every paid row in the table, because for a large share of Year 10 students in The Greens they are the right answer. A provider that hides them is selling against your interest.

Syllabus and tier before any rate

Every match states which codes it covers and at which tier. That removes the mismatch that wastes the first month, which is a tutor priced for 0580 Extended teaching a 0607 candidate who sits an investigation paper that tutor has never seen.

A diagnosis you can act on

Two named topics and a mark figure, not a general impression. The difference matters commercially as well as academically, because a precise diagnosis usually points to a six-session block rather than an open-ended weekly commitment.

Rates shown as the market's, with sources

Every AED figure here comes from published Dubai rate cards and from Bestimate's 2026 Dubai tutoring cost table, and is labelled as such. Three of the six competitor pages studied for this market publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars rather than dirhams.

We will tell you to stop

Blocks have end dates, terms end with a timed paper, and where the evidence says the arrangement is no longer earning its cost, that is what the review says. A weekly hour nobody needs is the most common hidden expense in Dubai tutoring.

No travel, no centre, no ambiguity

Lessons are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram has no Dubai office and makes no home visits in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service. The in-home rates on this page belong to other providers and are shown so the premium is visible.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in The Greens: your questions answered

What is the cheapest way to get IGCSE maths help in The Greens?+

In order: the school's own after-school maths clinic, which is already inside your fees and usually run by the teacher who marks the mocks; past papers with the published mark schemes, which cost nothing; and then a single diagnostic hour to find out whether anything more is needed. Only after those three does paid weekly tutoring make sense. The budget end of the Dubai market is advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour and is adequate for repetition at Core or Foundation tier.

How much does an IGCSE maths tutor cost per month in Dubai?+

A weekly hour is four or five sessions a month. On published 2026 Dubai rates that is roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month for a qualified subject tutor online, AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, and AED 1,000 to beyond AED 2,000 for exam-year specialist support according to Bestimate's Dubai cost table. In-home packages of four two-hour visits have been advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month. None of these is an IB Gram price; they are market observations for comparison.

Does a tuition-centre group class in Al Barsha actually save money on IGCSE maths?+

Per student, yes, and in the Al Sufouh and Al Barsha belt near The Greens groups are genuinely available. The saving is real when three or four students are weak on the same topics at the same tier, since the teaching is identical for all of them. It disappears when one student is a tier behind or has a different gap, because the pace follows the median and that student produces the same mock marks after a full term of attendance.

Is my child entered for Core or Extended IGCSE maths, and does it change the fee?+

The tier is on the school's examination entry and it changes both the grade available and the work required. Cambridge Core makes grades C to G available and Extended makes A* to E available; Pearson Foundation and Higher do the same under different names. Rates do not differ by tier, but hours do: moving a student up a tier means teaching functions, vectors and conditional probability from scratch, which is a term of new content rather than revision.

Which IGCSE maths syllabus is my child on: 0580, 0607 or 4MA1?+

Check the examination entry rather than the prospectus. Cambridge 0580, and its nine-to-one sibling 0980, sit one paper without a calculator and one with. Cambridge 0607 International Mathematics assumes a graphic display calculator and adds an investigation paper, which makes it a different course to teach and is common among students heading into the Diploma. Pearson 4MA1 permits a calculator in both two-hour papers. Verify any code at cambridgeinternational.org or qualifications.pearson.com.

Can a tutor move my child from a grade 5 to a grade 7 in IGCSE maths?+

No tutor can promise a grade, and treat any provider who does as a reason to ask harder questions. What is realistic depends on the diagnosis. A grade 5 produced by scattered careless losses and abandoned long questions often moves with a term of timed practice and a habit change. A grade 5 produced by missing algebraic foundations is a longer job, and if the entry is Core then the ceiling is fixed regardless. The diagnostic session is what tells you which you have.

How many hours of IGCSE maths tutoring does a Year 11 usually need?+

Fewer than most families buy. Twelve sessions across a term reliably clears two or three named topics, establishes timed paper practice and produces evidence about the tier, which is a good return at the middle of the market. Students carrying several gaps need a weekly hour across the year. Students who simply stopped practising often need a six-session block and nothing more. The difference is identified in one diagnostic hour, which is why that purchase comes first.

Is Additional Maths 0606 worth paying for alongside IGCSE maths?+

It is, if the main qualification is already secure in the top two bands. Nobody is behind on 0606 because nobody has seen calculus, logarithms or binomial expansion before, so a block of six to eight sessions is unusually efficient and it makes the first term of A Level Mathematics or Higher Level Analysis and Approaches familiar rather than new. If Extended 0580 marks are not yet strong, the same money belongs on 0580 instead.

Do we pay more for a tutor who knows both Cambridge and Edexcel maths?+

Not usually, and breadth is less valuable here than it sounds. Your child sits one syllabus, so what matters is depth on that one: how the mark scheme words method marks, what the non-calculator paper assumes, whether an investigation paper is part of the course. A tutor who names your code and says when they last taught it is worth more than one who lists every board. Breadth becomes useful only if siblings are on different routes.

Is it better value to start IGCSE maths tutoring in Year 10 rather than Year 11?+

Year 10 is better value for two reasons that have nothing to do with rates. The tier decision is still open, so evidence from timed papers can influence a decision that later becomes fixed at the entry deadline. And foundational algebraic fluency can still be rebuilt through short regular practice, which stops being possible once the calendar is dominated by mocks and revision. Year 11 support is narrower work bought at a busier point in the tutoring year.

What does an IGCSE maths re-sit cost a private candidate in Dubai?+

Entry fees are set by the examination centre and the board rather than by a tutor, so ask the centre directly. The cost that surprises families is time rather than money. In the UAE a re-sit means the November series, or the following June, and both close their entries months before the papers. Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, and its November 2026 papers finished on 19 November 2026 on the same timetable pattern. A Cambridge June re-sit returns a grade in August. Two to five months from last paper to usable result is normal, so decide the re-sit route before results day rather than after it.

Does a calculator-paper weakness need different tutoring from a non-calculator one?+

Yes, and conflating them is a common waste. On the Cambridge syllabus examined from 2025 one paper is sat without a calculator, and weakness there is about execution: exact values, surds, fractions and arithmetic under time pressure, rebuilt by short daily practice rather than explanation. Calculator-paper weakness is usually about reading the question and interpreting output. Pearson 4MA1 permits a calculator throughout, so this split does not apply on that route at all.

What should we stop paying for in IGCSE maths tutoring?+

Supervised homework, first of all: a tutor watching your child finish school-set work is being paid teaching rates for invigilation. Second, a weekly hour that outlived the two topics it was bought to fix. Third, the in-home travel premium, quoted in Dubai from about AED 180 to 500 an hour, which buys transport rather than teaching. A useful rule is to ask each term which two topics the next twelve sessions will clear, and to stop if the answer is vague.

Are IGCSE maths rates in The Greens different from the rest of Dubai?+

Hourly rates barely vary by community, because the market is emirate-wide and most delivery is online. What varies is what is already available free. The Greens and The Views share school clinic timetables, the Al Sufouh belt has real group classes within reach, and families in The Springs often have siblings a year apart on the same syllabus. Checking those first is where the saving actually sits, rather than in negotiating a lower hourly figure.

Does the price of IGCSE maths tutoring include past-paper marking?+

Ask, because it varies and it matters more than the rate. Marking a complete paper properly against the published scheme takes real time outside the session, and a provider who does it is giving you the diagnosis that justifies their rate. One who only discusses answers in the hour is selling something cheaper than it looks. Boards own their papers and mark schemes, so those are referenced and linked from cambridgeinternational.org or qualifications.pearson.com rather than redistributed.

Check the free options, then book one diagnostic hour

Send the syllabus code and the tier from your child's examination entry, the school, and the time the bus actually reaches The Greens. We will come back with tutors who teach that exact code, the hours they can hold in Gulf Standard Time, and a free first session with no card details taken. That session is a real past paper, marked properly, and it ends with two named topics rather than an impression. If the honest answer is that the school's own clinic and a fortnight of past papers would do the job, that is what you will be told. Lessons are one-to-one over live video throughout the UAE.
