IB Tutor near me in Dubai

Typing "IB tutor near me" into Google from a Dubai address sorts the result by distance, which is the one variable that does not affect a Higher Level grade. What does affect it is whether the person on the other side of the screen teaches that subject at that level and has read your child's last marked paper. We match by component and teach live over video on Gulf Standard Time, starting with a free trial lesson and no card details.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Near me, in a city where the right specialist is rarely nearby

A search for an IB tutor near me in Dubai is a reasonable thing to type and a poor way to sort the answer. Distance made sense when a tutor had to arrive at a building: a 20-minute drive each way was the difference between a lesson that happened and one that got cancelled in March. Once the lesson runs over video, distance stops being a constraint and the thing it was quietly standing in for — availability — is better solved directly.

What a Dubai parent actually needs is narrower than a city. A student taking Chemistry at Higher Level needs someone who has taught that syllabus, knows that Paper 3 is the section where the data-analysis marks sit, and can mark a structured energetics question against the published scheme. There are far fewer people who fit that description than there are tutors in Dubai, and almost none of them live in your community. Sorting by proximity hides them.

Dubai makes this sharper than most cities because the school market is so segmented. The Dubai Media Office reported 227 private schools serving 387,441 pupils in 2024-25 across 17 curricula, with the International Baccalaureate on 7% of enrolment against 37% on UK curricula. A neighbourhood with four schools inside a ten-minute drive may have only one running the Diploma, and a Higher Level cohort in a single subject there may number a dozen students.

There is a second reason the nearest qualified adult is the wrong default. The UAE regulates private tutoring by permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Its code of conduct, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi school staff as reported by Gulf News, bar a teacher from tutoring students enrolled at their own school. The closest subject teacher is frequently the one person who may not take the work.

A plain word on how this is delivered. Sessions are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time so they fit between the school run and the point where concentration goes. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. The trade is deliberate: you lose the person at the door and gain the person who teaches the component.

None of this makes proximity worthless. It decides when a session can start, because the school bus route and the evening traffic set the hour at which a student is home, fed and still able to absorb something. That is a real constraint and this page takes it seriously, district by district. What proximity does not decide is who should be teaching the component, and confusing the two is how a family ends up paying a specialist rate for a generalist hour.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Whether a school near you runs the full IB continuum or picks the Diploma up at 16 changes what a student arrives with. The notes below say what each programme assumes, and what that means for the kind of tutor a Dubai family should be looking for.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Three Higher Level subjects and three at Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Higher Level is where specialist supply thins out: the content runs deeper, the extra papers are the ones that separate grades, and a tutor who is comfortable at Standard Level is not automatically comfortable above it. Match by level explicitly, in writing.

Dubai Diploma cohorts sit the May session and apply to UK, North American and UAE universities in parallel. Several Dubai schools run the Diploma alongside A Level, so a Year 11 family is choosing routes rather than following one, and the useful tutor for that fortnight is someone who has taught both and can read a marked IGCSE paper against each.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Criterion-marked on A to D bands rather than by percentage, which trips up families arriving from a British or Indian system mid-stream. The tutoring need here is usually translation: what the band descriptor is asking for, and how a competent piece of work ends up in a 5-6 band. Subject knowledge matters less at this stage than fluency in the criteria.

In Dubai the MYP-to-DP transition is where the requests cluster, particularly in mathematics. Schools that run both place the personal project in Year 11, and a student whose Year 11 was spent on that project often enters DP1 with an algebra gap nobody noticed. A diagnostic in the first six weeks of DP1 is cheaper than a rescue in DP2.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary and inquiry-led, with no external examinations and no percentages. Parents searching for a tutor at this stage usually want reading fluency, number sense or English as an additional language, none of which need an IB specialist. What they do need is someone who will not import a British Year 5 scheme of work into an inquiry classroom and confuse the child.

Dubai PYP schools also deliver Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies under KHDA's mandatory-subject guidelines, with separate classes required for Arab and non-Arab pupils and a prohibition on combining the two groups. A non-Arab child beginning Arabic as an additional language is the most common primary request in the emirate, and it is a language-teaching brief rather than an IB one.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses taken with a career-related study, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. The Diploma courses inside it are examined exactly as they are in the full Diploma, so the tutoring brief is identical for those subjects and absent for the career-related units, which the provider assesses.

Few Dubai schools license the Career-related Programme, so a proximity search returns almost nothing relevant and a family has no local peer group to compare with. The practical approach is to treat the Diploma courses as the tutorable part and ask the school's coordinator what evidence the reflective project criteria actually require.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below, the topic inside each subject that generates most of the requests we receive from Dubai families. Not the whole syllabus — the specific place where a cohort reliably stalls, which is also the place a weekly session earns its fee fastest.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics and equilibrium at Standard Level; organic mechanisms and the data-analysis demands of Paper 3 at Higher Level. Requests spike in DP1 term two, when the internal investigation design lands at the same time as the first serious equilibrium questions.

Physics

HL and SL

Fields and circular motion, then the written-explanation questions that ask for a reason rather than a number. Higher Level students who handle the mathematics comfortably often arrive needing help only with the prose half of the paper, which is a different lesson entirely.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Calculus and proof at Higher Level; the step up from IGCSE algebra in the first term of DP1 at both levels. This is the single most requested subject and level combination across Dubai, and the one where early-evening availability is tightest.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistical tests and the written conclusion that must follow them, plus documented calculator work. Students moving here from Analysis and Approaches mid-course often underestimate the modelling content and overestimate how much of it is arithmetic.

Biology

HL and SL

Data-based questions on unfamiliar contexts, and the Higher Level extension topics that arrive late in DP2. Recall is rarely the problem in Dubai cohorts; applying a known process to a named organism in a graph is.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram-to-prose linkage, and the evaluation paragraph that must end in a judgement. Higher Level calculation questions are a separate brief and often need only two or three sessions once the formulae are secure.

Business Management

HL and SL

Applying a tool to the stimulus rather than describing the tool. The marks a Dubai cohort usually leaves on the table sit in the application and evaluation strands of the case study, not in the content.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 unseen analysis and the global issue in the Individual Oral. Students fluent in English but schooled outside a literature tradition often need technique vocabulary before anything else, which is a short and very productive brief.

English B

HL and SL

Text-type conventions for the writing paper and the structured conversation in the oral. The requests here come disproportionately from families whose child changed curriculum mid-secondary and landed in B rather than A.

History

HL and SL

Source-based Paper 1 and the Higher Level regional option essays. The constraint is almost always named detail: dates, figures, named actors. Sessions that build a usable case-study bank move marks faster than essay practice alone.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Pseudocode precision and the Higher Level resource-management topics. Supply is thin across the whole region at Higher Level, so this is one to ask about early rather than in the term it becomes urgent.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Turning a topic into a knowledge question, and the exhibition's requirement to tie an object to a prompt. A single block of three or four sessions at the right moment usually does more here than a standing weekly slot.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes a Dubai family uses, chosen by what the calendar is doing rather than by preference. The first two are standing commitments; the third is a block with an end date, which is usually the right answer when a single component is the problem.

One subject, one standing slot

A fixed 60-minute session each week on a single subject at a named level, in the same slot so the family stops negotiating it. Suits a Higher Level subject across a full term, and suits the DP1 student who is not yet in trouble but is working harder than the result suggests.

  • Same time every week, set around the real return commute
  • One subject, one level, one specialist
  • Marking between sessions, not inside the hour
  • Review at week six against the baseline script

Two subjects, two specialists

Where a student needs Chemistry and Mathematics rather than science and maths, the right answer is two tutors who each teach one of them. Families often resist this because one tutor sounds simpler; the marked papers usually make the case within a fortnight.

  • Separate specialists, separate slots, one point of contact
  • Each tutor works from that subject's own marked scripts
  • Session notes arrive separately and stay subject-specific
  • Either subject can be paused without disturbing the other

A short component block

Four to six sessions aimed at one named thing: Paper 3 technique, source analysis in History Paper 1, documented calculator work in Applications and Interpretation, or the structure of a Theory of Knowledge exhibition. Ends on a date, with a marked piece of work at the start and at the finish.

  • Four to six sessions with a stated endpoint
  • One component, one measurable output
  • Baseline and closing scripts both marked
  • No rollover into an open-ended arrangement

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

What a proximity search returns in a city of 227 private schools

A local search is a filter, and it is worth knowing what it filters on. It sorts by the business address a provider has published, by whether a listing claims to serve your community, and by advertising spend. None of those three correlate with whether anyone in the result teaches Higher Level Chemistry. The sort is working correctly; it is answering a different question from the one the family has.

The practical effect in Dubai is a results page dominated by generalists and tuition centres in the areas with the most centres, which are not necessarily the areas with the most Diploma students. Al Quoz and Al Barsha carry a disproportionate share of the city's tuition premises; Nad Al Sheba and the Sustainable City carry a disproportionate share of its continuum IB students. The map and the need do not line up.

Worth testing before you shortlist anyone: ask which level of which subject they teach this academic year, and which paper they would start on. A specialist answers in one sentence with a component in it. A generalist answers with a subject group. The question takes ten seconds and removes most of a local results page.

The table below sets out what a proximity search genuinely narrows and what it leaves entirely unaddressed, so you can see which of your decisions it is actually helping with.

One more thing a local result page hides. Tuition premises in Dubai cluster where commercial rent and footfall make sense, which is not where Diploma cohorts are largest, so the geography of the supply has very little to do with the geography of the need.

The twenty-minute radius, district by district

If a tutor has to travel, the radius they will realistically serve is about twenty minutes at the hour your child is free — which in Dubai is the hour when Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and the Business Bay crossing are all at their worst. That radius is a different shape in every district, and in some of them it contains no Diploma schools at all.

Think of it as two numbers rather than one. The first is when your child is physically home and fed, which is set by the school bus route and nothing else. The second is the latest hour at which a 17-year-old absorbs new content, which most families put somewhere between 7.30pm and 8pm. The usable window between those two numbers is often ninety minutes, and a visiting tutor spends a third of it on the road.

The table below is the version of the map that still matters. It pairs each district with the school cluster it feeds and a session start that holds up in term time, drawn from what Dubai families actually book rather than from distances on a map.

Once the lesson is on video the first number is the only one that counts. The session starts when the student sits down, and the slot can be 4pm in Mirdif and 6.30pm on the Palm without anybody negotiating with the traffic.

Worth writing both numbers down before you ring anybody. A family that knows its child is home at 4.45pm and fading by 7.45pm has a three-hour window and a clear question to ask; a family that has not counted it will accept whatever slot is offered and wonder in March why the sessions stopped working.

Which Higher Level subjects Dubai is actually short of

Supply is uneven by subject and level, and no provider in this market publishes that. It is the most useful thing a family can know before booking, because it determines whether the right answer is to start next week or to accept a date three weeks out and plan around it. We would rather give a date than put a Higher Level student with someone meeting the syllabus for the first time.

The pattern is consistent. Standard Level humanities and both Standard Level maths routes are comfortably covered. Higher Level sciences are tighter, with Chemistry and Physics the tightest in the early-evening Gulf Standard Time window because the same hours are in demand across the Gulf. Computer Science and the less common Language B options at Higher Level are the thinnest of all, and those are worth asking about a term early rather than a week late.

The dates in the table are match times, meaning how long it typically takes to put a named specialist in front of a student for a trial, not a promise about a particular week. They move with the calendar: the fortnight after mock results and the eight weeks before the May session are the two points where everything tightens at once.

If the honest answer for your combination is a wait, you will get a wait and a date. What you will not get is a generalist described as a specialist, which is the standard failure mode of a marketplace that sorts by distance.

Where the marks go, subject group by subject group

A tutor matched by distance starts with a conversation about confidence. A tutor matched by component starts with a marked script and a known failure pattern. The patterns below are the ones that repeat across Dubai cohorts, grouped by the Diploma's own subject groups, and each has a different remedy with a different number of sessions attached to it.

Two of them are worth singling out because they are cheap to fix and expensive to ignore. The first is the command-term misread, which costs most in the essay-based subjects and almost nothing in mathematics. The second is unnamed detail in the humanities: a Geography or History answer that describes a general process scores in the bottom half of the band however well written it is, and the fix is a case-study bank rather than more essay practice.

The third pattern is the one families least expect. Strong students in Physics and both mathematics routes frequently lose marks not on the mathematics but on the prose — the question that asks for a reason instead of a value. That is a writing lesson inside a science subject, and a tutor who only sets more calculation questions will never touch it.

None of this is visible in a search result. It becomes visible in the first marked paper, which is why the trial lesson in our process starts with one.

The remedy column matters as much as the diagnosis. A command-term problem is four sessions of work; a missing case-study bank is closer to eight; dropped accuracy marks in mathematics can be largely cleared in two or three. Knowing which one you have is what stops a family paying for the wrong eight weeks.

What a session fixes that an evening of revision does not

A student revising alone practises what they can already do. It is not laziness; it is the only thing available, because the questions they get wrong produce no feedback and so no learning. Three hours of unsupervised past papers tends to consolidate the existing mark rather than move it, which is why a family can see real effort and no improvement and conclude the child is not trying.

A session breaks that loop in three ways. It picks the question the student would have avoided. It watches the working rather than the answer, which is where the diagnosis lives. And it marks against the published scheme, so the student sees the mark allocation instead of a tick or a cross. None of those three requires a tutor in the room, and all three require a tutor who knows the component.

The second thing a session does is set the next week's work precisely. Not "revise equilibrium" but four named questions, in an order, with the hard one third rather than last. Dubai students are generally busy rather than idle, and a vague instruction is what loses the week.

The third is pace. Left alone, a student will spend three weeks on the topic they find interesting and avoid the one that is costing marks. A session that opens with ten minutes on last week's weak topic makes avoidance impossible without anybody raising their voice.

There is a fourth gain, and it is the one students mention themselves. Somebody is expecting the work on Tuesday, which converts a vague intention into a fixed appointment. In a Dubai term with three internal deadlines in the same fortnight, that single external deadline is often what keeps a subject from being quietly dropped.

06

The nearest subject teacher may be the one person who cannot help

Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit. Under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 the MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. The official route is MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service, applied for through its app, website and e-services system.

The constraint that matters for a proximity search sits in the code of conduct attached to that permit, and in ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff as reported by Gulf News: a teacher may not provide paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school. Treat the ADEK wording as press-reported and check the current policy document before relying on it. The direction of travel is clear either way.

So the most appealing result in a local search — your child's own subject teacher, who already knows the class and the deadlines — is frequently the one arrangement that should not be made. Asking a teacher to tutor your child privately puts their position at risk, not yours, and a professional will decline. It is better not to ask.

What a parent can verify is simpler than it sounds. Ask whether the tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition work permit, ask what their relationship to your child's school is, and ask the question in writing so the answer is in writing. Any provider that treats those as awkward questions has told you something useful.

What the Dubai market charges once the car is counted

Published AED figures in this market, read in October 2026, are set out below. They are other providers' rates rather than ours: IB Gram starts with a free trial lesson and a consultation, and a plan's cost depends on subject, level and how many sessions a week it genuinely needs. What the table adds to the usual price list is the travel column, because that is the part a near-me search is implicitly buying.

A visiting tutor's rate carries the journey inside it whether or not the invoice says so. Bestimate's Dubai figures for in-home one-to-one run AED 180-350, with independent home tutors at AED 200-500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The gap is roughly the cost of a car in evening traffic, and it buys presence in the room rather than more teaching.

Monthly packages in this market sit at around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Compare those on sessions and on minutes, not on the headline: eight shorter online sessions and four long in-home ones are different products, and the second spends a chunk of each visit settling in.

Ask three questions before agreeing any rate in Dubai. Does the figure include VAT. Does it include marking and written feedback outside the session. And what is the cancellation window, since a slot cancelled at 4pm for a school event is a cost somebody absorbs.

Why distance stops mattering once the lesson is on video

Stated plainly: IB Gram does not send tutors to addresses in Dubai, and home visits are a service we run only in India. Sessions on this page are one-to-one over live video, with screen sharing and a shared annotation surface so tutor and student work on the same script at the same moment. A scanned past paper can be marked up by both of them while they talk.

What that buys is the match. A Higher Level Physics student in Al Warqa is matched to a Higher Level Physics specialist rather than to the nearest available science teacher, and the search runs across the whole pool instead of a twenty-minute radius. For the subjects named earlier as tight, that is the difference between a specialist and a substitute.

It also buys back the minutes. A visiting tutor's hour contains the journey, the arrival, the settling and the departure; a video session contains the hour. Marking happens between sessions rather than in the first ten minutes, so an hour that costs less is also an hour with more teaching inside it.

The honest limitation is physical. Bench practical work and exhibition-based arts components happen at school and belong to the school. What a video session can do with them is the design, the data analysis and the write-up against the published criteria, which is where the majority of those components' marks actually sit.

For families moving between emirates or travelling in term time, the same property helps in a duller way: the slot survives the move. A student in a hotel in Abu Dhabi for a fortnight keeps the Tuesday session, which is not true of any arrangement that depends on somebody driving to a particular building.

09

Choosing by component instead of by community

The practical replacement for a proximity search is a four-line brief, and it takes a minute to write. Subject. Level. The paper or component causing trouble. The date of the next assessment that matters. Send that with one marked script and the shortlisting problem largely solves itself, because most tutors will self-select out of a brief that names a component.

Then ask the three questions a near-me search cannot answer. Who exactly will teach the sessions. Where marking happens and whether it sits inside the paid hour. And what the first six weeks would target, in component terms. A specialist answers all three quickly. Anyone who answers in generalities about confidence and rapport is describing a different service.

Use the trial lesson as a measurement rather than a meeting. Ours is free, takes no card details, and produces a written diagnosis you keep whether you continue or not: what the script showed, which topics are secure, what the first three sessions would do. Compare two of those diagnoses side by side and the decision is usually obvious.

If the answer for your combination is that nobody suitable is free, we say so and give a date. That is a worse answer than yes and a much better one than a generalist with a confident manner, which is what sorting by distance eventually produces.

Keep the brief when you have written it. Families who end up changing tutor once, for perfectly ordinary reasons, find that the same four lines plus an updated marked script restarts the process in a day rather than a fortnight, because the hard thinking was done the first time.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Proximity is not meaningless in Dubai — it decides when a session can start, not who should teach it. The notes below record what each district's commute does to an evening, which is the part of the map that still matters once the lesson is online.

Al Qusais and Al Nahda

Large school population with a heavy CBSE presence and a smaller IB cohort, so a local search returns plenty of tutors and few Diploma specialists. Pupils are generally home by 3pm, making a 4pm start workable on weekdays.

Motor City, Sports City and Dubai Studio City

Several schools inside the ring but Diploma provision concentrated in two of them. The internal road network keeps the school run short, so 4.30pm sessions hold up even in term-time traffic.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Al Furjan

Fast-growing catchments where many secondary pupils travel out to Barsha or Sustainable City schools. Return times drift to 4.45pm or later, which pushes a realistic weekday slot to 6pm.

Discovery Gardens and The Gardens

Dense apartment stock with students spread across a dozen schools. The scheduling constraint here is a quiet room rather than the road, and a pair of headphones usually resolves it.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

Sits next to the university cluster, which means plenty of undergraduate tutors advertising locally and few Higher Level subject specialists. Pupils at the nearby schools are generally home before 3.30pm.

The Springs, The Meadows and The Lakes

Villa communities feeding schools in Arabian Ranches and Emirates Hills. Secondary pupils are rarely home before 4.15pm, and sport on two evenings a week narrows the usable slots to three.

Palm Jumeirah and Al Sufouh

Short physical distances and a long single access road, so a 20-minute journey can become 40 at the wrong hour. Families here tend to prefer a fixed 6.30pm slot that the traffic cannot move.

Mirdif and Al Mizhar

One full IB continuum school plus several large schools on other curricula, so households often run two systems at once. Early slots at 4pm are realistic, which matters for students carrying three Higher Levels.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Dubai Festival City, Al Garhoud and Deira

Students we support in this cluster ask most often for Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches and for English A Paper 1 work. It is also the part of the city where a local search returns the fewest Diploma-specific results, because the schools on other curricula dominate the tutoring market here.

  • Deira International School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Al Mawakeb School Garhoud
  • Sheffield Private School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School

The Sustainable City, Dubai Investments Park and Al Furjan

A newer cluster with two full continuum schools, so Diploma students here have been criterion-marked for years and arrive with the vocabulary already in place. The requests skew towards Higher Level sciences, which is also where the supply across the region is thinnest.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Write the four-line brief

Subject, level, the component causing trouble, and the date of the next assessment that counts. Four lines does more than a long conversation about how your child is finding school, because it lets us check real availability in that exact subject and level before anybody promises you anything.

  2. 02

    Send one marked script

A mock paper, a unit test, a returned draft with the teacher's comments. One marked page lets the specialist arrive at the trial with a hypothesis instead of an introduction, and it is the difference between a first session that diagnoses and one that gets acquainted.

  3. 03

    Hear the honest availability

We tell you the match time for that subject and level and whether the slot you want exists in the Gulf evening window. If it is two weeks, you hear two weeks. Nobody is put in front of a Higher Level student on the basis that they teach the subject group.

  4. 04

Free trial, with a written diagnosis

Sixty minutes with the matched specialist, no charge and no card details. The student attempts a timed question, the tutor marks it against the published scheme, and you receive a note naming the secure topics, the gaps and what the first three sessions would target. Yours either way.

  5. 05

Fix the slot and the review date

Agree the weekly time around your real return commute rather than around a map, and set the week-six review in the same message. Sessions run live over video on Gulf Standard Time, and a session note reaches you within 24 hours of each one.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the component, not the postcode

Higher Level Chemistry means a Higher Level Chemistry teacher, named before you book. Because the lesson is online, that match is made across the whole pool rather than inside a twenty-minute drive of your community, which is where the specialists are not.

Availability told straight

We publish which subjects and levels are tight in the Gulf evening window and give a real match time. If the honest answer is a two-week wait for Higher Level Computer Science, that is the answer you get rather than a generalist with a confident manner.

The hour contains an hour

No journey, no settling, no arrival. Marking happens between sessions against the published scheme, so the paid time goes on teaching and diagnosis. That is a larger difference in useful minutes than most of the rate differences in this market.

Scheduled around the real commute

A 4pm slot works in Mirdif and does not work on the Palm, and we set the time from when your child is actually home rather than from a distance on a map. Slots can also move after school events without a travel cost attached to the change.

The permit question answered in writing

Private tutoring in the UAE runs on the MoHRE private tuition work permit under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. Ask us about permit status and the tutor's relationship to your child's school, and you get the answer in writing. We claim no regulator's approval for ourselves.

Coursework help that stays the student's own

Feedback by criterion, delivered separately from the document, with the student's dated drafts untouched. IB Gram does not write, complete or edit Internal Assessments, Extended Essays or Theory of Knowledge essays, and says so on every page.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

Does an IB tutor near me in Dubai mean a tutor in the same community?+

It usually means a provider whose published address or service-area claim sits near yours, which is not the same thing. Dubai has 227 private schools across 17 curricula, and a community with four schools inside a ten-minute drive may have only one running the Diploma. The person who teaches Higher Level Chemistry to a dozen students in your area is probably already teaching them. Sorting by distance returns generalists and tuition centres from the districts with the most premises, not the specialists for your subject.

How late can a tuition session realistically start in Mirdif on a school night?+

Earlier than most of Dubai, which is the useful part. Pupils in Mirdif and Al Mizhar are generally home by about 3.15pm, so a 4pm start is workable without touching the evening. Compare that with Dubai Marina or Jumeirah Village Circle, where a 4.45pm return pushes a sensible slot to 6pm. Set the time from when your child is actually home and fed, not from a distance on a map. On video the session begins when they sit down.

Which Higher Level subjects are hardest to staff across Dubai?+

Higher Level Chemistry and Physics are consistently tight in the 5pm to 7pm Gulf Standard Time window, because the same hours are in demand across the whole Gulf. Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level is the most requested combination overall. Computer Science at Higher Level and the less common Language B options are thinnest of all. If your child is taking any of those, ask about availability a term before it becomes urgent rather than in the week the mock result arrives.

Where do Dubai students most often lose marks in Chemistry Higher Level?+

Two places. Energetics and equilibrium produce the heaviest content losses, usually a dropped sign convention or an explanation that describes a shift without naming what drives it. The second is Paper 3, where the marks are for handling unfamiliar data and evaluating a method rather than for recall. Organic mechanisms lose marks on curly-arrow placement rather than on the chemistry. All three show up on a marked script within one session, which is why we ask for one before the trial.

What does a twenty-minute radius around Dubai Marina actually contain?+

At 5pm on a weekday, less than the map suggests. The Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah sit behind a small number of access roads, so a twenty-minute journey becomes forty at the wrong hour. The schools most Marina secondary pupils attend are in Al Barsha, Al Sufouh and Umm Suqeim rather than in the Marina itself. A tutor willing to travel into that radius at that hour is a short list, and it is not sorted by who teaches your child's subject.

Does Sheikh Zayed Road traffic change what time our lesson should start?+

It changes when your child is home, which is the only number that matters once the lesson is online. For households in Business Bay, Downtown and the Marina, the return commute lands between 4.30pm and 5pm in term time, so a 6pm or 6.30pm fixed slot is more reliable than an earlier one that keeps slipping. For a visiting tutor it changes much more, because the journey sits inside the hour you are paying for and inside the window your child can still concentrate in.

Is a nearby generalist better than a distant subject specialist?+

For homework supervision at 11 or 12, a competent generalist nearby is fine and cheaper. For a Higher Level Diploma subject it is not a close call. Higher Level content runs deeper than Standard Level, the extra papers are the ones that separate grades, and a tutor who has not taught that syllabus will be reading it alongside your child. Distance is irrelevant to a video lesson, so the only thing being traded away by choosing locally is subject depth.

Which Dubai areas have the most IB World Schools within one drive?+

Al Barsha and Barsha South hold the densest cluster in the emirate, followed by the newer catchments around Nad Al Sheba, Meydan and the Sustainable City, and the continuum schools serving Mirdif and Al Jaddaf. Deira, Al Qusais and Al Nahda have large school populations with proportionally fewer Diploma cohorts, which is exactly where a local tutor search returns the least relevant results. Check what your own school offers on KHDA's site rather than relying on a tutoring site's list.

What does a session fix in Physics Paper 2 that revision at home does not?+

Three things. It picks the question your child would have skipped, which is where the diagnosis lives. It watches the working rather than the answer, so a method mark lost to a missing line gets caught. And it marks against the published scheme, so the student sees where the marks actually sit on an extended-response question. Physics students in Dubai cohorts are usually strong numerically and thin on written explanation, and unsupervised past papers consolidate that imbalance rather than correcting it.

How soon can a Dubai family be matched with a Higher Level specialist?+

It depends entirely on the subject and the slot. Standard Level maths and humanities usually within a few days. Higher Level Chemistry or Physics in the 5pm to 7pm window is more often one to two weeks. Higher Level Computer Science can be two to three. We give you the real figure before you commit, and if it is a wait you get a date rather than a substitute. The two tightest points in the year are the fortnight after mock results and the eight weeks before the May session.

Do tutors drive to homes in Dubai, or is this taught over video?+

Over video, one-to-one, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. Other providers in this market do travel, and their published rates reflect it at roughly AED 180-500 an hour against AED 150-300 for qualified online teaching. What you lose is somebody in the room. What you gain is a match made on subject and level rather than on a twenty-minute radius.

What does the market charge per hour for an IB tutor in Dubai?+

Published AED figures read in October 2026 run from about AED 45-150 an hour for a generalist or university student online, AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online, AED 180-500 where a tutor travels to an address, AED 200-450 and above for an IB or IGCSE specialist, and AED 500-650 or more at the examiner-experienced end. Those are other providers' published rates, not ours. Ask whether VAT and marking are inside the figure, because both move the real cost per useful hour.

Is Theory of Knowledge worth a weekly session?+

Rarely weekly, often a block. The course asks students to turn topics into knowledge questions and to tie an object to a prompt in the exhibition, and both are skills that respond to three or four well-timed sessions rather than to a standing slot across two years. The right moments are when the exhibition prompts are issued and when the essay titles are released. A tutor may give criterion feedback on a draft; a tutor may not write or rewrite any part of it.

Our child studies Business Management Higher Level. What is the weak point?+

Application, almost always. Students learn the tools, draw them neatly, and then write an answer that never touches the stimulus material, which leaves the application and evaluation marks on the table. The quantitative questions lose marks on formula recall rather than on interpretation, which is a two-session fix. Higher Level students should also check how much of their grade sits in the internal assessment, because that is where an early, criterion-led conversation pays for itself several times over.

Does the tutor need to know which school in Dubai our child attends?+

Yes, for the calendar rather than the status. Dubai schools set their own internal deadlines for coursework, their own mock windows and their own moderation timetable, and a tutor working to the wrong dates is useful in the wrong month. Hand over the school's assessment calendar at the first session. We name schools on this page as market context only, and we claim no affiliation with, or endorsement from, any of them.

What happens if nobody suitable is free in the week we want to start?+

You get told, with a date. We would rather leave a slot empty than put a Higher Level student with somebody who teaches the subject group but not the level, because six weeks of that costs more than a fortnight of waiting. If the wait is long, we will say which component could usefully be worked on in the meantime and what your child can do unsupervised without consolidating the same errors.

Replace the radius with a four-line brief

If you have been searching for an IB tutor near me in Dubai, the faster route is to stop sorting by distance and start naming the component. Send the subject, the level, the paper causing trouble, the date of the next assessment that counts, and one marked script. We will tell you the honest match time for that combination, put a named specialist in front of your child for a free trial lesson with no card details taken, and give you the written diagnosis afterwards whether or not you continue.
