IB Tutor near me in Meydan

Searching for an IB tutor near me in Meydan returns a map, which is the least useful answer available. Meydan has almost no schools inside it, so every child commutes, and a Diploma student is already carrying six subjects, CAS, Theory of Knowledge, three internal assessments and a 4,000-word essay. This page works out where the hours actually come from. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Built around the Diploma week, not a generic study timetable
  • CAS and internal assessment deadlines treated as fixed commitments
  • Coursework support is feedback on the student's own work only
  • Live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, no UAE home visits

IB & IGCSE in Meydan

A Diploma week is already full before tutoring arrives

The honest answer to this search is that proximity is not the problem. A Diploma student in Meydan is carrying six subjects, three of them at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, a 4,000-word Extended Essay and CAS, and in DP2 three internal assessments arrive in roughly the same term as the other two core components. The question is not where a tutor is. It is which hours exist, and what they are being taken from.

Meydan makes that question sharper than most districts. There are almost no schools inside the development, so every child travels out — commonly to Hartland International School or North London Collegiate School Dubai in Sobha Hartland, to Repton School Dubai or GEMS Modern Academy across in Nad Al Sheba, or further to Swiss International Scientific School Dubai at Al Jaddaf and the Al Barsha schools. Arrival home ranges from before 15:30 to after 16:45 depending on which. On top of that sit CAS commitments, which in many schools are deliberately placed after school.

So a weekly tutoring slot in this district is competing with a real timetable rather than with idleness. The families who get value from support here are the ones who decide in advance what the session is displacing, and the ones who waste money are the ones who add an hour on top of a week that has no hour in it. The second group reschedule four times and stop by half term.

Dubai held 387,441 private-school students across 227 schools in 2024-25 across seventeen licensed curricula, with the IB accounting for around 7% of enrolment. The emirate's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, three of them International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places. IB cohorts in individual schools therefore remain modest, which has a direct consequence for this search: the number of Higher Level specialists in any one subject living within a short drive of Meydan is small, and that is arithmetic rather than a sales argument.

IB Gram delivers tuition to UAE families as one-to-one lessons over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to addresses anywhere in the UAE — home visits are a service we run only in India. For a DP2 student the practical consequence is that a session can be placed in the one gap the week actually has, moved by a message when a CAS commitment or an internal deadline moves, and kept running while the family is abroad, which in this corridor happens for weeks at a time.

One thing worth doing before any first conversation, and it takes about half an hour. Write the week down: school finish, journey home, CAS commitments, fixtures, and the dates of the next two component deadlines. Then look at what is left. Families in this district who do that arrive with a precise question — which hour, which subject, which deadline — and get a precise answer. Families who do not arrive asking for a weekly hour, get one, and spend a term discovering that the hour was never available in the first place.

At a glance

  • Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS
  • DP2 brings three internal assessments and two core components into one term
  • Meydan has almost no schools inside it; arrival home ranges from 15:30 to after 16:45
  • CAS is often timetabled after school, which removes the obvious slots
  • UAE schools sit the May session; confirm every date with your IB coordinator
  • Lessons are live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, never a UAE home visit
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The Diploma is one programme with four very different years inside it, counting the year before it starts. These are the stages a Meydan family passes through, described by what each one does to the week.

PRE-DPAges 15-16 · MYP 5 or Year 11

The year before the Diploma

The cheapest and most useful year to buy support in, and the one families skip. The subject and level choices for the Diploma are made here, and the two habits DP1 assumes — timed written examination and extended independent writing to a word limit — are built here or not at all. A student arriving in DP1 without either is learning them while also learning six new courses.

In the Meydan corridor students reach the Diploma from both MYP and IGCSE, often into the same DP1 class, and they arrive with opposite gaps. MYP students have never paced a two-hour paper; IGCSE students have never written 4,000 words or kept a process journal. Knowing which profile your child has is the most useful preparation available.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma year one

Six courses begin in parallel, CAS starts, Theory of Knowledge appears on the timetable and the Extended Essay is introduced. The week is full but nothing is urgent until the final term, when internal assessment and Extended Essay topics are chosen. This is the year in which genuinely missing content can be rebuilt unhurriedly, and it is the year with the most usable afternoons.

Dubai Diploma students also carry KHDA's mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies lessons alongside the six subjects, which compresses the school week more than a European DP timetable would. Those minutes are inside the school day, so a tutoring plan competes with them rather than borrowing from them.

DP2Ages 17-18 · Year 13

Diploma year two

The hardest year in the British or international school system to schedule anything into. Three internal assessments, the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay cluster in the same months while new Higher Level content is still arriving, mock exams take a term, and university applications run alongside. Tutoring here is almost always scheduled blocks rather than standing weekly hours.

UAE schools sit the May session. No specific IB session or results date appears on this page, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and no date in this project has been confirmed from the IB. Confirm every one with your school's IB coordinator, particularly before booking travel, since several circulating dates have never been verified.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses alongside a career-related study, with a core including personal and professional skills, a reflective project, service learning and language development. A smaller week than the full Diploma and sometimes the right answer for a student strong in two subjects and sinking under six. Provision across Dubai is thin.

Because availability is limited locally, a family weighing CP against the Diploma should settle the Ministry of Education equivalency question before committing. Equivalency is set by the Ministry and must be checked on moe.gov.ae for the specific qualification combination; no tutoring provider decides it and tutoring is not a requirement for it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Six subjects compete for the same afternoons, and they do not all need the same kind of slot. Below are the Diploma subjects Meydan students bring, each with a note on the session shape it actually wants.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Needs an alert student rather than a long one, which puts it early in the afternoon and early in the week. Paper 1 is sat without a calculator while school homework almost never is, so non-calculator practice has to be deliberate. At Higher Level, Paper 3 continuation practice is a separate short job worth four sessions.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Calculator-assumed throughout, so the losses sit in the interpretation sentence at the end of a question and in modelling assumptions left unstated. More forgiving of a later slot than Analysis and Approaches, because reading and writing survive tiredness better than long manipulation does.

Physics

HL and SL

The subject where a tired session is least productive, because an abandoned rearrangement loses the back half of a question. Place early. The data-analysis section of Paper 1 is predictable in structure and under-practised, which makes it the best short block available in the subject.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Responds to repetition rather than length: the losses are precision habits, so two 45-minute sessions beat one 90-minute block. Suits a week in which two short gaps exist and no long one does, which describes most DP2 weeks in this corridor.

Biology

HL and SL

Content-dense and command-term sensitive, which makes it the subject that survives a later or tireder slot best, because recall and answer structure hold up when calculation does not. Useful to place on the day a CAS commitment ends late.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Needs an uninterrupted stretch for anything involving timed writing, so it is the subject most often worth a weekend block in this district. The Individual Oral is assessed on four criteria over 40 marks and is the most schedulable, most improvable component in the course.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams are assessed rather than decorative, and diagram discipline — labelled axes, shifted curves, new equilibrium marked — is a short block that pays across every paper. The internal assessment is three commentaries with word limits, which makes it a defined piece of work to schedule around.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-driven, so sessions need enough length to read a stimulus and write a judgement from it. Students who list the parts of a framework without using it are the recurring pattern, and that is a technique fix rather than a content one.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

A 1,600-word essay on one of six prescribed titles plus the exhibition. Short support at the title-choice stage is disproportionately valuable, because a title chosen badly costs the whole essay. A standing weekly TOK arrangement is rarely a good use of a full week.

Extended Essay

Core

Four thousand words marked on five criteria over 34 marks, with the planning reflections contributing directly. Needs three or four scheduled feedback sessions on the student's own drafts rather than an ongoing slot. Nothing may be drafted, rewritten or supplied at any stage.

Internal assessments across the sciences and maths

HL and SL

Four criteria and 24 marks in the sciences with a 3,000-word limit; five criteria and 20 marks for the mathematical exploration. The single highest-value session in the Diploma is the one before data collection or drafting begins, checking the question can be answered by the method chosen.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

HL, SL and ab initio

KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with separate classes organised for Arab and non-Arab students. Where it is also an examined Diploma subject, support works within the school's own approved material rather than bringing in an alternative syllabus.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, and in the Diploma the choice is driven by which component is next rather than by which subject is weakest. All three are live one-to-one video sessions with a named tutor on Gulf Standard Time.

Weekly subject session, DP1

One tutor, one subject, one protected weekday slot. DP1 is the only year with enough usable afternoons for this to survive a term unchanged, and the only year in which genuinely missing content can be rebuilt rather than patched. The day is chosen against the school's CAS and activity schedule rather than guessed.

  • Day chosen against the CAS and activity calendar
  • Tracks the school's current unit and next assessment
  • A free trial lesson before anything is booked
  • Non-calculator practice built in from the start on AA

Component feedback blocks, DP2

Three or four sessions placed around one deliverable: an internal assessment draft, the Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge title, an Individual Oral. Defined start, defined end, defined piece of work. The right shape for a DP2 week that has no standing hour in it, and usually the best value in the programme.

  • Scheduled to the school's internal deadlines, not weekly
  • Feedback against criteria letters and their mark allocations
  • Nothing drafted, rewritten or supplied for the student
  • Ends when the component is submitted

Final-run paper blocks

Two or three shorter sessions a week in the last six to eight weeks, spent on timed sections marked against official schemes. This is the cadence that decides a grade and the cadence a visiting arrangement in this district cannot sustain, because three sessions a week is three journeys through pick-up traffic.

  • Timed sections rather than whole untimed papers
  • Calculator and non-calculator papers drilled separately
  • Paper 3 continuation practice for Higher Level students
  • A written list of topics to stop revising

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Meydan

01

What 'near me' means when every child in the district commutes

  • Meydan has almost no schools inside it; every child commutes out
  • A visiting tutor travels against every school run in the corridor
  • IB is around 7% of Dubai private enrolment, so HL cohorts are small
  • The local pool of single-subject HL specialists is thin by arithmetic
  • Settle which hour is free before deciding who should fill it

Typing an IB tutor near me in Meydan into a search engine produces results sorted by distance, which for this district is close to meaningless. Meydan has almost no schools inside it. The children who live here are not local to their own education: they travel to Sobha Hartland, to Nad Al Sheba, to Al Jaddaf or further, and they come back through the same traffic everybody else does.

That matters twice over. First, the afternoon a tutor is competing for is already shortened by a commute, and shortened differently for every family depending on which school they chose. Second, a tutor who has to drive here is driving against every school run in the surrounding communities, and the twenty minutes District One's internal roads absorb before reaching Al Khail belongs in somebody's price.

The deeper problem with distance as a filter is supply. IB accounts for around 7% of Dubai's private-school enrolment, which means Diploma cohorts in individual schools are modest and Higher Level cohorts in any one subject are smaller still. The number of people living within a short drive of Meydan who teach Higher Level Chemistry every weekday afternoon is small by arithmetic, not by accident. Widening the search to the whole timezone is what makes a specialist available at all.

So the useful reframing of this search is: which hour does my child actually have free, and who is the best person in that hour? The rest of this page answers the first half, because the second half is easy once the first is settled. IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition to UAE families over live video and does not send tutors to UAE addresses; home visits are a service we run only in India.

02

The Diploma week, and where the hours come from

A Diploma student does not have spare time that tutoring can occupy; they have time that tutoring has to take from something. Setting out what is already there is the only honest way to plan, and it is a conversation most providers skip because the answer sometimes is that no hour exists this term.

The fixed commitments are six taught subjects with homework attached, Theory of Knowledge on the timetable, CAS, and in Dubai the KHDA mandatory subjects — Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies, required in all private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. The variable commitments are internal assessment work, the Extended Essay, mock exams, university applications in DP2, and whatever CAS project the student has committed to.

The table below sets those out against what each displaces. The point of reading it is to decide, deliberately, what a tutoring hour is replacing: homework in another subject, CAS time, sleep, or nothing because the hour genuinely does not exist and the right answer this term is a scheduled block around one deadline instead of a weekly session.

That last option is the one most worth taking seriously in DP2. Three or four sessions placed around an internal assessment draft take roughly four hours total across a month. A weekly session across the same month takes four hours too, but spread as a standing commitment that collides with everything. The same spend, placed differently, is the difference between support that works and support that gets rescheduled until it stops.

Which subject belongs in which slot

Given a narrow window, the subject that goes into it should be chosen by the window rather than by which report was worst. This is the single most practical piece of scheduling advice available to a Meydan Diploma family, and it costs nothing to apply.

The rule is simple: calculation survives tiredness badly and recall survives it well. A student home at 16:00 can do an hour of Analysis and Approaches or Higher Level Physics productively. The same student at 17:45, after a CAS commitment, will abandon a rearrangement halfway and lose the back half of every question they attempt. Put that student on biology recall, geography case studies or an English reading task instead, and the hour produces something.

Length matters separately from timing. Chemistry precision habits, non-calculator maths fluency and command-term drilling all respond to repetition, so two short sessions beat one long one. Timed English writing, a full past-paper section and a coursework draft read properly need an uninterrupted stretch, which in this district usually means a weekend. Matching the shape to the task rather than standardising on sixty minutes is most of what makes a plan hold.

The table below sets out the pattern for the subjects Meydan students most often bring. It is a default rather than a rule — a particular student may concentrate better late than early — but as a starting point it prevents the commonest scheduling error in this corridor, which is putting the hardest subject in the worst slot because that is the slot that was free.

CAS, and the two afternoons nobody counts

  • Get the CAS schedule in writing at the start of each term
  • CAS commitments are harder to move than homework, because others are involved
  • Expect intensity to cluster: months light, then a consuming fortnight
  • Do not book a feedback block into a known CAS-heavy fortnight
  • A short-notice move costs a message online and a route change otherwise

Creativity, activity and service is a Diploma requirement rather than an extracurricular bonus, and in most schools it is placed after the school day because there is nowhere else for it to go. For a Meydan family that means the obvious tutoring slots are frequently already occupied, and the family does not realise it until the third rescheduled session.

The practical move is to get the CAS schedule in writing at the start of each term, alongside the fixture and club calendar, and to plan the tutoring slot around it rather than negotiating weekly. CAS commitments also tend to be the hardest thing to move, because they involve other people — a team, a service partner, a group project — in a way that homework does not.

There is a second effect worth naming. CAS projects cluster their intensity: a student may have months of light commitment and then a fortnight where a service project or a performance consumes every afternoon. That fortnight is almost always the wrong one to have booked a scheduled internal assessment feedback block into, and a quick look at the CAS calendar in September prevents the collision.

The upside of the online format here is specific rather than general. When a CAS commitment moves at short notice — and it does — a video session can shift by a day with a message. A visiting tutor's whole route has to change, and in a district reached through District One's internal roads that is not a small ask. Over a DP2 year the difference shows up as sessions kept rather than sessions cancelled.

05

Five components, one term, and when the sessions fit

DP2 is where Diploma students in this corridor come unstuck, and it is almost never about ability. Three internal assessments, the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay land in roughly the same months, while new Higher Level content is still being taught and university applications run alongside. The failure looks like a physics investigation written in four days because the maths exploration and a history investigation took the other three weeks.

Sequencing is therefore a tutoring job as much as a teaching one. The science investigations should go first because they depend on laboratory access and on data that might turn out unusable, which cannot be rescued over a weekend. The mathematical exploration can be written at a desk and is more movable. The Extended Essay needs early scoping and then intermittent drafting. The Theory of Knowledge essay needs its title chosen well and then a focused fortnight.

The practical exercise is to put all five deadlines on one page in September of DP2 and work backwards from the earliest, then decide which component will be done to a competent rather than an excellent standard — because with six subjects something will be, and choosing deliberately beats discovering it in April. That conversation takes thirty minutes and is worth more than any individual session.

The honesty boundary applies across all five and is worth stating here rather than burying. A tutor may discuss scope and feasibility, explain what each criterion asks for, and give written feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor may not write, rewrite or edit any part of submitted text to completion, supply a research question, or produce data. The declaration on every component is the student's, and one page ranking in this market sells completed internal assessments outright.

06

What IB tutoring costs, component by component

Because DP2 support is mostly blocks rather than standing hours, the useful way to price it is per component rather than per month. A feedback block on one internal assessment is three or four sessions. A Theory of Knowledge title conversation plus a draft review is two. A final-run paper block is two or three sessions a week for six to eight weeks. Those are finite numbers and they can be budgeted.

The market's hourly bands, read in October 2026 and belonging to whoever published them: budget online or undergraduate tutoring AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52; a qualified subject tutor online AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200; an IB specialist AED 200 to 450 or more, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table giving 200 to 450 plus; in-home one-to-one AED 180 to 500 including travel; and a premium end reaching AED 650 at BartyED.

Monthly, Bestimate's estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Published packages include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. For a DP2 family the honest expectation is a lumpy spend: modest in DP1, concentrated in the component-heavy term and again in the final weeks.

One band distinction matters more in the Diploma than elsewhere. Coursework feedback is specialist work — judging whether a research question can be answered by a method, or whether an exploration carries enough mathematics for Higher Level, is mark-scheme experience rather than subject knowledge. Standard Level topic revision is not, and paying specialist rates for it is a waste. Ask which you are buying before agreeing a rate.

07

A DP2 student, two formats, one week

The comparison between a visiting tutor and live video is usually argued in the abstract. For a DP2 student in Meydan it can be argued concretely, because the week is known and the constraints are measurable rather than philosophical.

A visiting tutor gives presence, which matters less at seventeen than at thirteen but is not nothing: a parent can see the session happening and a student cannot drift. What it costs here is start time and flexibility. The tutor travels into a district with no schools of its own, against every surrounding school run, through internal roads that absorb twenty minutes before reaching Al Khail. A 16:00 slot becomes 16:40. And the slot cannot move when a CAS commitment shifts or the school adds a revision class.

Live video gives the opposite. The session starts when it says it starts. A short-notice move costs a message. The tutor is drawn from the whole timezone, which for a single Higher Level subject is the difference between a specialist and a generalist given the size of local DP cohorts. Coursework feedback works better on a shared screen, because the student's draft, the criteria wording and the comments sit together rather than being emailed back and forth.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. The table below is reasoning behind an existing decision rather than a pitch, and the final column is the part specific to a Diploma student: what happens in the weeks when five components are live and the cadence has to rise.

08

Ramadan, travel and a spring that disappears

The spring of DP2 is the part of the Diploma that most often gets away from a family in this corridor, because three separate pressures arrive together: component deadlines, the mock series, and a calendar that moves. Planning for it in September is the only version that works.

Ramadan shortens school hours and reorganises the day around Iftar and later sleep. Sessions generally move earlier into the gap the shorter school day creates, or later to post-Iftar timing, and the productive length drops — a focused 45 minutes beats a tired 90. For a DP2 student sitting papers in the spring the cadence usually holds and only the clock changes, because a four-week gap at that point is expensive.

Travel is the second pressure and the one this district feels hardest. Long Eid and half-term absences are normal here, and families frequently spend weeks outside the country. In-person tutoring simply stops during them. Because delivery is over live video the session follows the student, and time zones are handled by moving the slot rather than cancelling the arrangement. Across a DP2 spring that continuity is often the difference between a component submitted on time and one submitted badly.

The third pressure is the mock series and the fortnight after it, which is the most informative data a Diploma family receives in two years and has a short shelf life. Get the scripts back rather than just the grades, sort every lost mark into content, command term, slip or timing, and work only the dominant category for a fixed fortnight. In this corridor that category is usually timing, which is good news because it is the recoverable one.

09

The coursework boundary, in writing

  • Allowed: content teaching, criteria explanation, feedback on the student's own draft
  • Allowed: scope and feasibility discussion before writing or data collection
  • Not allowed: drafting, rewriting, editing to completion, supplying data
  • The declaration on every component belongs to the student
  • Board materials are referenced and linked, never reproduced

Any family shopping for Diploma support in Dubai will meet an offer to help with coursework in a way that crosses a line, because one page ranking in this market sells completed Internal Assessments outright. Knowing the boundary in advance is worth more than being warned about it afterwards, and the student is the one who carries the consequence.

What a tutor may do: teach the content, explain each criterion and its mark allocation, discuss whether a research question is feasible and whether a method can answer it, point out that a scope is too wide, read a draft the student has written and return written feedback on structure, method and argument, and model how a different piece of work handles a similar problem. All of that is teaching and all of it is expected.

What a tutor may not do: write any part of submitted text, rewrite a passage into better prose, supply a research question wholesale, produce or clean data, or edit a draft to completion. The declaration the student signs says the work is their own. Feedback incorporated into a student's own writing is normal and permitted; text written by somebody else is not, however it is described.

The same boundary covers materials. IB, Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides are copyright, some unreleased, so we reference and link ibo.org rather than hosting or distributing them. Your school holds licensed access. Separately, IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE, the Ministry of Education or the IB, and claims none.

10

When no Higher Level specialist is free

  • Core DP subjects at HL and SL: trial usually within a few days
  • One tutor across two Higher Level subjects: a narrow pool
  • Some requests cannot be met in a given term, and you are told so with a date
  • A no with a date beats a generalist presented as a specialist
  • If no hour exists, a block around one deadline beats a weekly slot

Availability is the thing tutoring pages in this market conceal, and the researched set is consistent: a form, a promise of a fast match, and silence about the case where the specific subject at the specific level has nobody free. Several route UAE parents to an Indian phone number without saying so. Disclosing a limit is cheaper than being caught by one.

The honest shape of coverage for a Meydan Diploma enquiry: core subjects at both levels — Maths Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, the three sciences, English A, Economics, Business Management — are reliably covered, and a trial is usually arrangeable within a few days. Narrower requests take longer. A single tutor covering two Higher Level subjects is a narrow pool. A specialist with investigation-marking experience in a particular subject is narrower still, and some requests cannot be met in a given term.

When that happens you get a date or a straight no rather than a generalist with the right label. A tutor who is strong at Standard Level and stretched at Higher Level is discovered in session three, and in DP2 a lost month is a component written badly. The free trial lesson exists so the judgement about subject depth belongs to you before anything is paid: a parent watching somebody mark a Paper 3 section or read an investigation draft can tell within twenty minutes whether they have done it before.

One further piece of transparency, since this page has made a scheduling argument throughout. If the hour genuinely does not exist in your child's week this term, the right advice is a scheduled block around one deadline rather than a weekly slot that will be rescheduled until it stops — and sometimes it is to wait until next term. A provider who proposes a standing arrangement for a week with no gap in it is proposing something that suits them.

Where we tutor

Meydan, and where its Diploma students go to school

Session placement in this district is decided by the school rather than the house, because Meydan has almost no schools inside it. These are the communities whose schools Meydan Diploma students attend.

Meydan

Villas, low-rise and Meydan One around the racecourse, with almost no schools inside the district. Every family drives out, so the school's location sets the session window and CAS commitments narrow it further.

Sobha Hartland

Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai sit inside the community, minutes from Meydan. Families here have the earliest usable window in the corridor and the easiest DP2 scheduling.

Nad Al Sheba

Repton School Dubai and GEMS Modern Academy across Dubai-Al Ain Road, along with Kings' School Nad Al Sheba. A common destination for Meydan children, landing them home around 16:00 on an ordinary day.

Mohammed Bin Rashid City

District One and the villa plots Meydan borders. Long internal roads and limited exits onto Al Khail absorb around twenty minutes at pick-up before the main-road journey even begins.

Al Jaddaf and Culture Village

Swiss International Scientific School Dubai anchors this end with a bilingual IB continuum. A manageable morning run and a slow one at pick-up, which puts the realistic session start after 16:30.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

Schools on the fringes of a mixed residential and industrial belt. A Meydan family travelling here is home closer to 16:45, which pushes weekday sessions into the least productive part of the evening.

Al Barsha and Dubai Hills

Chosen by families who picked on IB provision rather than proximity. The longest school run from Meydan, and the group for whom weekend blocks carry most of the term's work.

Business Bay and Downtown

Rarely school destinations for Meydan children but a frequent parental workplace, which matters for DP2 because a parent home at 19:00 changes who is around when an internal assessment deadline goes wrong.

Silicon Oasis and Academic City

The far end of the corridor, with a long run in both directions. Students here usually need a 17:30 weekday slot or a weekend arrangement rather than the 16:00 the closer clusters can hold.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Meydan

The short run: Sobha Hartland and Nad Al Sheba

The schools most Meydan Diploma students attend, close enough that an afternoon remains usable. Programme provision varies between them and changes over time, so ask each school directly which IB programmes it currently runs.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Repton School Dubai
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Kings' School Nad Al Sheba

The long run: Al Jaddaf out to Al Barsha

Schools chosen on IB provision rather than distance, several running the programme across more than one stage. Families in this group account for most of the weekend bookings from this page.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha
  • Safa Community School
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Schools are named as context for the neighbourhood's education options; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the week, not just the subject

Name the school your child travels to, the year, the subject and level, roughly what time they are home, and the CAS and activity commitments. Then say which of the five DP2 components is next. Those facts decide whether this term wants a weekly session, a scheduled block, or nothing yet.

  2. 02

    A free diagnostic trial lesson

One live session with no payment and no card, spent on a past-paper section or a draft rather than on teaching a topic. You get a written note naming the dominant pattern in the lost marks, how many sessions it suggests, and which slot shape the subject actually wants given the arrival time.

  3. 03

Decide what the hour is displacing

A Diploma week has no spare time, so a tutoring session takes an hour from homework, CAS or sleep. Deciding which, in advance, is what makes the arrangement survive. Where the honest answer is that no hour exists, a block around one deadline is better than a weekly slot that will be moved until it dies.

  4. 04

Sequence the five components in September

Put all five DP2 deadlines on one page and work backwards from the earliest. Science investigations go first because they depend on laboratory access and data that may not work. Then decide which component will be done to a competent rather than an excellent standard, because with six subjects something will be.

  5. 05

Match the subject to the slot

Calculation subjects early in the afternoon and early in the week; recall subjects later; anything needing an uninterrupted stretch at the weekend. The commonest scheduling error in this corridor is putting the hardest subject in the worst slot because that was the slot that happened to be free.

  6. 06

Rebuild on the mock scripts, then run paper blocks

After mocks, sort every lost mark into content, command term, slip or timing and work only the dominant category for a fixed fortnight. Then move to two or three sessions a week of timed sections for a fixed number of weeks before the May session, and stop when it ends.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Built around the week that exists

Six subjects, CAS, Theory of Knowledge, five DP2 components and a commute out of a district with no schools of its own. We ask what is already there before proposing a slot, including the case where the answer is that no weekly hour exists this term.

Blocks rather than standing hours in DP2

Three or four sessions around one internal assessment take the same total time as a month of weekly sessions and achieve far more, because the target is a deliverable with a deadline rather than a general improvement with none.

Specialists drawn from the timezone, not the district

IB is around 7% of Dubai private-school enrolment, so Higher Level cohorts in individual schools are small and so is the local pool of people who teach one subject at one level all week. Online delivery is what makes that match possible at all.

The coursework line stated to the student

A tutor teaches, explains criteria and gives feedback on work the student wrote. Nothing is drafted, rewritten or supplied for submission, and the boundary is said out loud in the first session because the declaration belongs to the student.

Continuity through Ramadan and travel

Sessions move earlier or post-Iftar during Ramadan and shorten to 45 minutes. Long absences are normal in this corridor, and because delivery is over live video the arrangement follows the student instead of pausing for three weeks of a DP2 spring.

AED figures with their sources, and no invented dates

Every band here is attributed and dated to October 2026. No specific IB session or results date appears, because ibo.org blocks automated checking — confirm each with your school's coordinator before booking anything around it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Meydan: your questions answered

Is there an IB tutor near me in Meydan, or are lessons online?+

Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE addresses; home visits are a service we run only in India. For this district the distinction matters less than it looks: Meydan has almost no schools inside it, so children commute out and a visiting tutor would travel in against every surrounding school run. Because IB is around 7% of Dubai private enrolment, the local pool of single-subject Higher Level specialists is genuinely thin.

Where does a tutoring hour come from in a Diploma week?+

It has to come from something, which is the conversation most providers skip. Six taught subjects with homework, Theory of Knowledge, CAS, and in Dubai the KHDA mandatory subjects are already there. In DP2 add three internal assessments, the Extended Essay, the TOK essay, mocks and university applications. A tutoring hour displaces homework in another subject, CAS time or sleep. Decide which in advance, or accept that the right answer this term is a block around one deadline instead.

Why do three internal assessments all land in the same term?+

Because each subject sets its own internal deadline against the same external submission window, and schools rarely coordinate across departments. The result is three investigations, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay clustered in a few months while new Higher Level content is still arriving. The fix is sequencing rather than more hours: put all five on one page in September of DP2 and start with the science investigation, because it depends on laboratory access and on data that may not work.

Which Diploma subject should go in a late afternoon slot?+

A recall subject rather than a calculation one. Biology content, geography case studies, an English reading task or Theory of Knowledge structure all survive tiredness reasonably well. Analysis and Approaches maths and Higher Level Physics do not: a rearrangement abandoned halfway loses the back half of every question attempted, so an hour at 17:45 after a CAS commitment produces very little. Put those early in the afternoon and early in the week, and match the subject to the slot rather than the reverse.

How does CAS affect when sessions can happen?+

More than most families expect, because CAS is a Diploma requirement rather than an optional extra and schools usually place it after the school day. That takes the obvious tutoring slots. CAS commitments are also harder to move than homework, since they involve a team, a service partner or a group project. Get the CAS schedule in writing at the start of each term, and avoid booking a feedback block into a fortnight when a service project or performance will consume every afternoon.

Is a weekly session or a scheduled block better in DP2?+

A block, in most cases. Three or four sessions placed around one internal assessment draft take about the same total hours as a month of weekly sessions and achieve considerably more, because the target is a deliverable with a deadline. A weekly slot in DP2 has to survive mocks, five component deadlines, CAS and university applications, and in a commuter district it rarely does. Blocks also end, which is why they are better value as well as more realistic.

What is the single most valuable session to buy in the Diploma?+

The one before a science investigation's data collection begins, spent checking that the research question can actually be answered by the chosen method. A design fault is visible to an experienced marker in five minutes and invisible to the student for six weeks, and no amount of careful data collection repairs it. After that, the next-best purchase is a short block on command terms and timing, which transfers across every subject the student sits.

How much does Diploma support cost if we buy it in blocks?+

Price per component rather than per month. An internal assessment feedback block is three or four sessions; a Theory of Knowledge title conversation plus a draft review is two; an Extended Essay needs three or four across the year. At the IB specialist band of AED 200 to 450 or more an hour — TutorChase publishing AED 270, Bestimate's Dubai table giving 200 to 450 plus, read October 2026 — those are finite and budgetable numbers rather than an open-ended monthly commitment.

Do we need a specialist, or will a qualified subject tutor do?+

It depends what you are buying. Standard Level topic revision sits comfortably with a qualified subject tutor at AED 150 to 300 an hour, and paying specialist rates for it is a waste. Coursework feedback is different work: judging whether a research question is answerable by a method, or whether an exploration carries enough mathematics for Higher Level, is mark-scheme experience rather than subject knowledge. Ask which you are buying before agreeing a rate, and the answer should be straightforward.

Can a tutor help with the Extended Essay?+

Within a clear boundary. A tutor may discuss whether a research question is feasible and appropriately scoped, explain what each of the five criteria asks for and how the 34 marks are allocated, and give written feedback on drafts the student has written. A tutor may not supply the research question, write or rewrite any part of the text, or edit it to completion. The planning reflections contribute directly to the mark and must also be the student's own. The declaration is theirs.

What happens to sessions when we travel for several weeks?+

They follow the student, with the slot moved to suit the new time zone rather than the arrangement pausing. Long Eid, half-term and summer absences are normal in this corridor, and in-person tutoring simply stops during them. Across a DP2 spring that continuity is often the difference between a component submitted on time and one submitted badly, which is why the format matters more in the second Diploma year than the first.

Can we trust the IB exam dates we find online?+

Take them from your school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org directly. UAE schools sit the May session, and that is as specific as this page gets, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. Dates circulate on secondary sites and get republished without verification. A family booking flights around one of those is acting on an unchecked number, and one email settles it.

My child came from MYP and is doing badly in DP1 tests. Why?+

Most likely examination technique rather than ability. Five years of criteria-based MYP tasks, however demanding, do not teach a student to pace a two-hour paper, to decide quickly between optional questions, or to abandon a question and return to it. That shows up as a capable student with mediocre test results. The fix is timed paper practice, which is quick and transfers across subjects. Students arriving from IGCSE have the opposite gap: extended independent writing and documented process.

Do the KHDA mandatory subjects affect a Diploma timetable?+

Yes, and families new to Dubai are often surprised. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit and schools advised that any mandatory-subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes. Those minutes sit inside a week already holding six Diploma subjects, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, so a tutoring plan competes with them rather than borrowing from them.

What if the Higher Level specialist we need is not available?+

You are told so with a date, rather than matched to a generalist with the right label. Core subjects at both levels are reliably covered and a trial is usually arrangeable within a few days. Narrower requests — one tutor across two Higher Level subjects, or a specialist with investigation-marking experience in a particular area — take longer and occasionally cannot be met in a term. In DP2 a lost month is a component written badly, which is why a straight no is the better answer.

Should we book anything at all if the week has no free hour?+

Not a weekly slot. A session booked into a week with no gap in it gets rescheduled until it stops, and the family pays for the lessons that did happen while concluding tutoring does not work. The better options are a scheduled block of three or four sessions around one specific deadline, a weekend arrangement if the school run is long, or waiting until next term. A provider proposing a standing arrangement for a full week is proposing what suits them.

Send the week and the next deadline

The useful version of searching for an IB tutor near me in Meydan is not a map. Send the school your child travels to, the subject and level, roughly what time they are home, the CAS commitments, and which of the five DP2 components is next. From those we can say whether this term wants a weekly session, a scheduled block around one deadline, or nothing yet — and if the specialist you need is not free, you get a date rather than a substitute. The first lesson is a free diagnostic with no payment and no card.
