IGCSE Tutor near me in Meydan

Typing an IGCSE tutor near me in Meydan returns a list sorted by distance, which answers the wrong question. A Year 11 student here is taking nine or ten examined subjects, commuting to a school in another community, and has roughly one clear weekday afternoon. This page is about triage: which subject gets that afternoon, which subjects have no local supply at all, and what to ask the school first. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Meydan

Nine subjects, one afternoon, and a drive in between

The problem a Meydan parent brings to this search is not usually finding a tutor. It is deciding what to do with the single afternoon their child has free. A Year 11 student in a British-curriculum school is sitting nine or ten examined subjects. They are commuting, because Meydan has almost no schools inside it. Sport, clubs and in the spring term school revision sessions take one or two afternoons. What remains is one weekday slot and part of a weekend, and nine subjects competing for it.

Distance is therefore the least useful filter available. What matters is triage: which two or three subjects are genuinely at risk of a grade the student needs, and which of those will respond to the hours available. A student losing marks on timing across every paper has a different problem from one missing a term of chemistry, and only one of those can be fixed between February and June. Deciding honestly is worth more than finding somebody nearby.

The geography still shapes the answer, just not in the way the search implies. Meydan children travel to Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai in Sobha Hartland, to Kings' School Nad Al Sheba, Repton School Dubai and GEMS Modern Academy in Nad Al Sheba, or further to Safa Community School in Al Quoz and the Al Barsha and Silicon Oasis schools. Arrival home ranges from before 15:30 to after 17:00, and that range decides session length more than the subject does.

Dubai held 387,441 private-school students across 227 schools in 2024-25, with UK-curriculum schools at 37% of enrolment across seventeen licensed curricula. That makes IGCSE maths, English and the three sciences well supplied locally. It does not make everything well supplied: a student needing Additional Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics at a specific board, or a second language is looking for somebody far scarcer, and the distance filter actively works against them.

IB Gram delivers tuition to UAE families as one-to-one lessons over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to addresses anywhere in the UAE — home visits are a service we run only in India. The practical effect on triage is that the scarce-subject problem largely disappears, because the pool is the timezone rather than the drive, and the one free afternoon is not shortened by somebody else's journey into a district with no schools in it.

Before reading further, it is worth writing two lists. The first is the subjects where your child needs a specific grade for a specific next step, which is usually shorter than expected and often has only two or three subjects on it. The second is the subjects where their last marked script showed lost marks you can describe — not a grade you were disappointed by, but a pattern you could name. Where the two lists overlap is where the afternoon should go. Everything else on this page is detail about how to spend it once that decision has been taken.

At a glance

  • A Year 11 week in this district yields roughly one clear weekday slot
  • Meydan has almost no schools inside it; arrival home spans 15:30 to after 17:00
  • Maths, English and the three sciences are well supplied locally; several subjects are not
  • Triage before booking: which two subjects actually need the hours
  • UAE candidates sit the June and November series; the Feb/March route is India only
  • Lessons are live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, never a UAE home visit
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Triage looks different at each stage, because what is fixable changes. These are the stages a Meydan family passes through on the British route, described by what support can realistically achieve at each.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Key Stage 3

The only stage at which everything is fixable and nothing is urgent, which makes it the best value and the least bought. A genuine subject gap closed in Year 8 costs a fraction of the same gap closed in Year 11, because there is no examination pressure forcing the pace and the week has room in it. Year 9 is also where the subject and science-route options are chosen.

In Dubai this stage runs alongside KHDA's mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies lessons, required in all private schools regardless of curriculum. Meydan has a high share of families in their first or second UAE year, and Arabic from a standing start is the request that most often arrives at this stage and most often pays for itself.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

IGCSE Year 10

Nine or ten examined courses begin properly and coursework starts in the subjects that carry it. Content is still fixable here, which is the key fact: a missing foundation in algebra or the mole concept can be rebuilt without sacrificing anything else. By the spring of Year 11 the same gap is a triage decision rather than a repair job.

Year 10 is also when the tier decision in tiered subjects should be evidenced rather than assumed, by sitting a timed higher-tier past paper and marking it against the official scheme. For Meydan families who arrived mid-Year 10 from another system, a syllabus audit against the school's scheme of work comes before any teaching.

Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

IGCSE Year 11

The triage year. School revision sessions appear at short notice, the mock series takes a term, coursework deadlines cluster and the final weeks need two or three sessions a week in whichever subject was chosen. Technique — timing, command terms, question selection — remains fully recoverable; missing syllabus content only partly does.

Across this corridor Year 11 carries the post-sixteen decision too, because several nearby schools offer both A Level and the IB Diploma. Leaning one way by the January mocks lets a family target the remaining months; deciding in July means choosing from whatever the results allow rather than from what was planned.

Y12Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

After Year 11

A Level or the IB Diploma. Both assume specific IGCSE content: A Level Mathematics and Higher Level IB maths both expect the higher-tier syllabus, and the sciences at either level expect separate-science content. The IGCSE subject and tier decisions therefore constrain the exit, usually in ways noticed after the entry deadline rather than before.

For universities inside the UAE there is a separate Ministry of Education equivalency step: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five, plus one Advanced Level subject at E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below are the IGCSE subjects Meydan students bring, each described by how recoverable it is late in the year — which is the information triage actually needs and which no competitor page provides.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580, Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended, or Foundation and Higher

Partly recoverable late. Timing, method-mark discipline and mechanical topics like circle theorems and bounds move quickly. Missing algebraic fluency does not, and a student weak there in February will be weak in June. Cambridge sets a non-calculator paper and Pearson does not, which decides what practice should contain.

Physics (Cambridge 0625, Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended, or single tier

Recoverable if the problem is mathematical execution — rearrangement, units, gradients — which it usually is. Not recoverable late if whole topics are missing, because the calculation-heavy content compounds. Experimental-method questions are the fastest marks and are shared with the other two sciences.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620, Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended, or single tier

Among the most recoverable subjects late in the year, because the losses are precision habits rather than ignorance: state symbols, ionic equations, trends described rather than explained. Those are drillable in three or four sessions and apply to every paper the student sits.

Biology (Cambridge 0610, Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended, or single tier

Recoverable in two ways and not in a third. Command-term accuracy and six-mark answer structure move fast. Content is learnable late because it is recall rather than compounding skill. What does not move late is a student who has never practised writing a sequenced extended answer under time.

English as a First Language (Cambridge 0500)

Single tier

Recoverable mainly through task compliance rather than writing quality. A strong writer who ignores form, audience or purpose loses marks no prose can rescue, and that is a one-session realisation. Timing across the reading responses is the second fix and takes about three sessions.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510, 0511)

Core and Extended

The summary task carries concentrated marks and is a technique rather than a language ability, which makes it the most recoverable component. Speaking and listening are harder to move late. Register accuracy in writing matters as much as range and is the more teachable of the two.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

Highly recoverable, because most lost marks are application rather than knowledge: a correct definition untied to the case scores the bottom of the band. Break-even and cash-flow calculations are reliable marks routinely skipped under time pressure, and both are mechanical.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Recoverable through diagram discipline, which is the single best short block in the subject: labelled axes, shifted curves, new equilibrium marked. Evaluation questions needing a judgement rather than a balanced list are the second fix, and together they cover most of the available improvement.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

Recoverable but thinly supplied locally. Pseudocode is marked to syllabus conventions, which catches fluent Python coders who translate loosely, and trace tables are high-value and low-glamour. Both are mechanical, and both need a tutor who knows the convention rather than the language.

Additional Mathematics

Extended or Higher tier students only

The scarcest subject in this list locally, because it is timetabled thinly in schools and taught by few teachers. Not recoverable late: it front-loads calculus and advanced trigonometry, so a student behind in February is behind in June. Worth supporting early or not at all.

Geography (Cambridge 0460)

Single tier

Recoverable, because the skills paper is mechanical — map reading, graph interpretation, data response — and all of it is practisable in a few sessions. Extended answers need named located examples, which is recall and therefore learnable late, unlike compounding calculation skills.

Arabic and second languages

Varies by school and route

Required in Dubai private schools under KHDA rules regardless of curriculum, and thinly supplied outside school at examination level. Support works within the school's own approved material, because KHDA prohibits different or additional content for mandatory subjects without Ministry permission.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, and in Year 11 the choice follows the triage decision rather than the subject. All three are live one-to-one video sessions with a named tutor on Gulf Standard Time.

One protected weekday slot

A single weekly session in the subject triage identified, placed on the one afternoon the activity and revision-session calendar leaves clear. The discipline is that it stays in one subject rather than rotating by whichever report was worst that month, because rotating produces thin passes across several subjects and movement in none.

  • Day chosen from the school's own activity calendar
  • One subject, held for a term, not rotated
  • Session length matched to the arrival time
  • A free trial lesson before anything is booked

Short technique blocks

Three or four sessions on something mechanical and shared: experimental method across all three sciences, command terms, diagram discipline in economics, method-mark habits in maths. These finish, they apply to more than one subject, and for a student with nine subjects and one afternoon they are the highest-return purchase available.

  • Chosen from the student's own marked script
  • Improves more than one subject where possible
  • Three or four sessions, then it ends
  • Each block closes with a timed section

Weekend blocks and the final run

A longer weekend session for anything that cannot be split — timed writing, a full paper section, a coursework draft — and in the last six to eight weeks two or three shorter sessions a week in the triage subject. The weekend block is the default for families on the long school run rather than a fallback.

  • Long enough for a timed task without splitting it
  • The default for Al Barsha, Al Quoz and Silicon Oasis runs
  • Final run: timed sections marked against official schemes
  • A written list of topics to stop revising

Triage: which of nine subjects gets the afternoon

Nine or ten examined subjects and one clear afternoon is an allocation problem, and allocating by whichever report was worst produces the wrong answer almost every time. The right question is narrower: which subject is both at risk of a grade the student actually needs and responsive to the hours available between now and the papers.

Those are two separate tests and both matter. A subject can be at risk and unresponsive — Additional Mathematics in February, where the content front-loads calculus and a student behind now will be behind in June. A subject can be responsive and not at risk — economics diagram discipline for a student already heading for a strong grade. The afternoon belongs to a subject that passes both tests, and a parent can usually identify it from marked scripts in half an hour.

The third factor is what the grade is for. A student needing five subjects at grade 3 or above for Ministry of Education equivalency has a different floor from one needing a 7 in maths to enter Higher Level IB. The subject that matters is the one standing between the student and a specific next step, and that is a family decision rather than a tutoring one. Making it explicitly is what stops the afternoon being spent on whichever subject produced the most recent argument.

The table below sets out the triage grid as it usually resolves in this corridor. Read it with marked scripts beside it: the categories are only useful once you know whether your child's lost marks are technique, precision or missing content, and that is what a script shows and a grade does not.

The subjects nobody near you teaches

There is a real supply problem in Dubai IGCSE tutoring and almost nobody writes about it, because admitting a coverage limit looks like a weakness. It is more useful than the alternative. Maths, English and the three sciences are well supplied, because UK-curriculum schools account for 37% of Dubai's private-school enrolment and those subjects are taken by nearly everybody. Several other subjects are not supplied at all well, and a distance filter makes finding them harder rather than easier.

The thin list is predictable once you think about who teaches these subjects. Additional Mathematics is timetabled in few schools and taught by fewer teachers. Computer Science needs somebody who knows the syllabus pseudocode conventions rather than a working programmer. Economics and Business Studies at a specific board are taken by smaller cohorts. Second languages at examination level are scarce outside school. Arabic at first-language level is a specific credential rather than a general one — KHDA requires schools to ensure all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects.

For a Meydan family that produces a straightforward conclusion. On the well-supplied subjects, a local tutor and an online one are both available and the choice comes down to format preference and the travel premium. On the thin subjects, insisting on somebody who will drive to Mohammed Bin Rashid City narrows a small pool to a very small one, and the practical outcome is either a long wait or a generalist with the right label.

What any provider should do in the thin cases is say so. If the subject at the level you need has nobody free this term, the right answer is a date or a straight no, with the alternative options named — a short technique block in a different subject, a weekend arrangement, or waiting. The researched competitor set in this market tends instead to promise a fast match and route enquiries onwards, and several route UAE parents to an Indian phone number without saying so.

Five questions for your school, before you pay anybody

A parent who walks into a tutoring conversation with five facts from the school gets a precise answer in one message. A parent without them pays a tutor to establish those facts during billable sessions. The five take a single email to the exams officer or head of year and they are the highest-return thirty minutes in this whole process.

First, the syllabus codes. Not the board name — the codes, such as 0580 or 4MA1, plus the tier where the board tiers. Some schools split boards between subjects, so the answer for maths may not be the answer for science. Second, which practical component the science subjects sit, because Cambridge separate sciences include either a laboratory practical test or an alternative-to-practical written paper and the written one is highly coachable.

Third, the entry deadline the school is working to and whether tier decisions can still change. That date is the school's rather than the board's and it closes the decision. Fourth, the mock window and whether scripts will be returned, because a returned script is the diagnostic instrument and a grade alone is not. Fifth, the activity and revision-session calendar for the term, which is how you find the one afternoon that will still be free in March.

A sixth question is worth asking if there is any history of extra time or other support: how access arrangements work at this centre, what evidence is needed, and when the deadline falls. Those arrangements are applied for by the school as the exam centre, they are evidence-based, and the deadlines sit well before the series. No tutoring provider arranges them, influences them or should imply otherwise — but a family that discovers the deadline afterwards has lost something that was available.

The honest study week, counted in minutes

Most revision advice assumes a student with free evenings. A Year 11 student in Meydan does not have them, and the useful exercise is to count what is actually there rather than to prescribe what should be. Families who do this arrive at a realistic plan; families who do not buy an hour that was never available.

Start with the school day and the journey. Depending on which cluster the school sits in, a Meydan student is out of the house from early morning until somewhere between 15:30 and 17:00. Then homework across nine or ten subjects, which in Year 11 is not optional. Then one or two afternoons gone to sport or clubs, and in the spring term school revision sessions appearing at short notice. Then, inside the school week itself, the KHDA mandatory subjects — Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies, required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum.

What is left in a typical week is one clear weekday afternoon and part of a weekend. That is the honest budget, and the whole argument of this page is that it should be allocated deliberately rather than spread. One subject in the weekday slot, held for a term. One technique block at a time, finishing before the next begins. One weekend session for the tasks that cannot be split.

The counting exercise also tells you what not to buy. A family who counts the week and finds no clear afternoon at all should not book a weekly slot: it will be rescheduled until it stops, and they will conclude that tutoring does not work when what happened is that it was never scheduled. For that family the right purchase is a weekend block or a short technique block, and a provider who says so rather than selling a standing hour is being straight with them.

School revision sessions against outside help

  • School sessions cover content well and cannot diagnose
  • Buy diagnosis and technique; let the school cover the syllabus
  • Technique blocks apply to more than one subject and they finish
  • Expect school revision sessions to take the afternoon you booked
  • Treat the school session as the priority and move the paid one

Most schools in this corridor run their own revision sessions in the spring term, usually free and usually in the afternoons. For a family triaging nine subjects into one slot, the question of whether those sessions replace outside support is a real one and the answer is: partly, and in a specific way.

What a school session does well is cover the syllabus. A teacher with a class works through content in a planned sequence, and for a student whose problem is a missing topic that is exactly right and already paid for. What it cannot do is diagnose. A room of twenty students moving through a sequence cannot stop at the line where one student's working breaks, and in maths and the sciences that line is where the marks are.

So the sensible division is to let the school cover content and buy diagnosis and technique. A short block on experimental method, command terms, method-mark discipline or diagram accuracy does something the school session structurally cannot, applies across more than one subject, and finishes. For a student with nine subjects that is a better use of a scarce afternoon than paying somebody to re-cover material a teacher is covering for free three doors away.

There is a scheduling consequence too, and it catches families every spring. School revision sessions appear at short notice and take the obvious afternoons — frequently the exact afternoon a weekly tutoring slot was placed on in September. Expect it, and when it happens treat the school session as the priority and move the paid one, which online costs a message and with a visiting tutor costs a route change or a cancellation.

06

What the cheapest option actually gets you

Start at the bottom of the market, because for a family triaging nine subjects into one afternoon the bottom is a serious option rather than a compromise. Budget online tutoring runs AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik publishing from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, figures read in October 2026. What it buys is a confident undergraduate with no board marking experience.

For some triage outcomes that is the correct purchase. Re-covering a single Core-tier topic, drilling arithmetic fluency, working through recall in biology or geography: an able undergraduate does those perfectly well at a third of the specialist rate, and spending more on them is waste. Where it reliably fails is anything requiring mark-scheme judgement — whether a method mark would be awarded, whether an extended answer meets a six-mark structure, whether a practical write-up answers the question asked.

Above it, a qualified subject tutor online runs AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. An IGCSE specialist runs AED 200 to 450 or more, TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table giving 200 to 450 plus. In-home one-to-one runs AED 180 to 500 including travel, and the premium end reaches AED 650 at BartyED. Monthly, Bestimate gives AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, with published packages at around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions.

The practical rule for a Meydan family is to match the band to the task rather than to the anxiety. Budget band for recall and fluency. Mid band for course support across a term. Specialist band for mark-scheme work, tier judgement and coursework feedback. Paying specialist rates for recall is the commonest overspend in this market, and buying budget help for a tier decision is the commonest false economy.

Measured in minutes: travelling against video

For a student with one afternoon, the comparison between a visiting tutor and live video is best made in minutes rather than principles, because minutes are the scarce resource and they can be counted.

A visiting tutor in Meydan loses minutes at both ends of the session. The journey in runs against every school run in the surrounding communities, and District One's internal roads absorb around twenty minutes before a car reaches Al Khail. A 16:00 start becomes 16:30 or 16:40 routinely. If the school bus is late, the session is short rather than shifted, because the tutor has a route to continue. And the slot cannot move when the school adds a revision session, which in the spring term it will.

What the visiting format gives in exchange is presence — a parent can see the session happening and a fifteen-year-old cannot drift — and in Year 10 that is worth something real. The market prices it at roughly AED 50 to 150 an hour above the equivalent online rate: in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 500 including travel against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. The table below is therefore the reasoning behind an existing decision rather than a pitch, written so a Meydan parent can check it against their own afternoon. If the minutes work out differently for your family, that is a legitimate conclusion and the market supplies the alternative.

Coursework and the honesty line at IGCSE

  • Allowed: teaching, explaining the scheme, feedback on the student's own work
  • Not allowed: writing, rewriting, editing to completion, supplying content or data
  • Controlled assessment is governed by the school's own rules
  • Ask the school what preparation is permitted, then tell the tutor
  • Board materials are referenced and linked, never reproduced

Several IGCSE subjects carry coursework or controlled assessment, and the boundary around outside help is narrower than parents often assume. It is worth knowing precisely, because the consequence of crossing it falls on the student rather than on whoever offered.

What a tutor may do: teach the content and the skills, explain what the mark scheme rewards, discuss whether a chosen topic or question is manageable, and give feedback on work the student has written. What a tutor may not do: write, rewrite or edit any part of submitted work to completion, supply content for it, or produce data or results. Where a piece is produced under controlled conditions in school, the school's own rules govern what preparation is permitted and those are the rules that bind.

The practical advice is to ask the school what is allowed before arranging any support around a coursework piece, and to tell the tutor what the school said. Schools differ in how much pre-work they permit, and a tutor who has not been told will assume whatever is normal elsewhere. That assumption is where problems come from rather than from bad intent.

The same line covers materials. Cambridge and Pearson papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides are copyright, some unreleased, so we reference and link cambridgeinternational.org and qualifications.pearson.com rather than hosting or distributing them. Your school holds licensed access. Separately, IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, and claims none.

09

Results day, and the two exits from Year 11

Triage decisions made in February are really decisions about August, because the IGCSE results decide which of two post-sixteen routes a student in this corridor can take. Several schools around Meydan offer both A Level and the IB Diploma, which makes the exit a genuine choice rather than a formality — and makes the subject at the top of the triage list a strategic question rather than an emotional one.

A Level Mathematics and Higher Level IB maths both assume the higher-tier IGCSE syllabus. A Level and Higher Level sciences assume separate-science content. If either route is the plan, the subjects standing between the student and it are the ones that deserve the scarce afternoon, even if another subject's report looks worse. If neither route requires a particular subject, a secure pass in it is sufficient and spending the afternoon there is a misallocation.

There is also a floor to clear that is easy to forget in the pursuit of a ceiling. Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five. One ranking competitor states the requirement as six subjects; the published figure is five. For most students in this corridor that floor is cleared comfortably, but for a borderline student it is worth checking which five the equivalency five actually are.

If results do disappoint, the November series on both Cambridge and Pearson is the standard resit route for UAE candidates, and the Feb/March Cambridge route is offered to India only. Before committing to a retake, request the script rather than the grade: if the losses were timing and technique, a short block before November is realistic. If whole topics were missing, the following June is usually the honest answer and a tutor should say so rather than sell the shorter one.

What a free trial should settle

  • Send marked scripts from the subjects under consideration
  • Ask which subject will respond fastest to the hours available
  • Listen for method marks, command terms and mark allocations
  • Ask what the tutor would deliberately not work on
  • Check what condition is attached to any provider's 'free'

The free trial lesson is the only part of this market a parent can evaluate before paying, and for a triage decision it should be used as an assessment rather than a sample lesson. Treated as a sample, it tells you whether the tutor is pleasant. Treated properly, it settles which subject gets the afternoon.

Set it up to answer that. Send marked scripts from the two or three subjects under consideration, and ask for the session to be spent on them: mark these with my child against the official scheme and tell me which subject will respond fastest to the hours we have. A specialist will answer in method marks, command terms and mark allocations and will be willing to name a subject. A generalist will offer to help with all of them.

Then ask two more questions before it ends. How many sessions does this pattern suggest, and what would you deliberately not work on? The second answer is the more informative. A tutor willing to say that a subject is not worth the afternoon, or that a particular topic should be abandoned, is planning. A tutor proposing an open-ended weekly arrangement across several subjects is selling.

On the word free: the trial is one lesson, with no payment and no card required, and that is the whole condition. Any provider using the word should state its condition on the same screen, and in this market that is worth checking rather than assuming. Nobody can promise a grade either — not us, and not the providers in the researched set who publish outcome promises and self-asserted ratings.

Where we tutor

Meydan, and the schools its students travel to

The session window in this district is set by the school rather than the house. These are the communities Meydan children travel to, and the one thing each does to the available afternoon.

Meydan

Villas, low-rise and Meydan One around the racecourse, with almost no schools inside the district. Every family drives out, so the school's location rather than the home's sets the slot and the session length.

Sobha Hartland

Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai sit inside the community, minutes away. The earliest usable window in this corridor, and the only cluster where two short weekday sessions are comfortably available.

Nad Al Sheba

Kings' School Nad Al Sheba, Repton School Dubai and GEMS Modern Academy across Dubai-Al Ain Road. The most common destination for Meydan children and a realistic 16:00 start on an ordinary day.

Mohammed Bin Rashid City

District One and the villa plots Meydan borders. Long internal roads and limited exits onto Al Khail absorb around twenty minutes at pick-up before the main-road journey starts.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

Safa Community School and others on the fringes of a mixed belt. A Meydan family travelling here is home closer to 16:45, which argues for a weekend block over a tired weekday hour.

Al Jaddaf and Culture Village

Swiss International Scientific School Dubai anchors this end. Manageable outbound in the morning, slow at pick-up, which puts the realistic weekday start after 16:30.

Al Barsha and Dubai Hills

Chosen on provision rather than proximity, and the longest run from Meydan. Students here supply most of the weekend bookings from this page, and weekday sessions rarely survive a full term.

Silicon Oasis and Academic City

GEMS Wellington Academy and others along the Academic City corridor. A long run in both directions, where 17:30 or a weekend arrangement is the honest answer rather than an early slot.

Business Bay and Downtown

Not school destinations for most Meydan children but a common parental workplace, which changes who is at home to notice a missed session or an unopened coursework brief.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Meydan

The short run: Sobha Hartland and Nad Al Sheba

The schools most Meydan children attend, close enough that the afternoon survives. Ask each for its syllabus codes rather than its board name, because some schools split boards between subjects and the code decides the practice.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Kings' School Nad Al Sheba
  • Repton School Dubai
  • GEMS Modern Academy

The long run: Al Quoz out to Silicon Oasis

Schools chosen for provision rather than distance, where the drive back pushes the usable session into the evening or onto the weekend. Most weekend bookings from this page come from families in this group.

  • Safa Community School
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Deira International School
  • GEMS Our Own Indian School

Schools are named as context for the neighbourhood's education options; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the five facts from the school

Syllabus codes and tiers, which practical component the sciences sit, the entry deadline and whether tiers can still change, the mock window and whether scripts come back, and the activity and revision calendar. One email, and it saves paying a tutor to establish them during billable sessions.

  2. 02

    Count the week honestly

School day plus commute, homework across nine subjects, sport and clubs, and in spring the school revision sessions. What is left is usually one weekday afternoon and part of a weekend. That is the budget. A family that finds no clear afternoon should not book a weekly slot at all.

  3. 03

    Triage against two tests

Which subject is both at risk of a grade the student needs and responsive to the hours available? Chemistry precision and biology structure respond fast; Additional Mathematics in February does not. Marked scripts answer this in half an hour, and the answer is often not the subject with the worst report.

  4. 04

Use the free trial to settle the choice

One live session with no payment and no card, spent marking scripts from two or three subjects against the official scheme. Ask which subject will move fastest with the hours available, how many sessions it suggests, and what the tutor would deliberately leave alone.

  5. 05

Hold one subject for a term

The weekday slot stays in the triage subject rather than rotating by whichever report was worst that month. Rotating produces thin passes across several subjects and movement in none. Short technique blocks run alongside and finish, and they are chosen to improve more than one subject where possible.

  6. 06

Rebuild on the mock scripts, then run the final block

After mocks, sort every lost mark into content, command term, slip or timing and work only the dominant category for a fixed fortnight. Then two or three sessions a week of timed sections for a set number of weeks before the series, with a written list of topics to stop revising.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Triage before hours

Nine subjects and one afternoon is an allocation problem. We ask which subject is both at risk and responsive before proposing anything, which frequently points away from the subject with the worst report and towards the one standing between the student and their next step.

Honest about thin supply

Maths, English and the sciences are well supplied locally. Additional Mathematics, Computer Science and first-language Arabic are not. Where a subject at the level you need has nobody free this term, you get a date or a straight no rather than a generalist with the right label.

The band matched to the task

Recall and fluency sit in the budget band at AED 45 to 150. Mark-scheme judgement, tier decisions and coursework feedback sit in the specialist band at AED 200 to 450 plus. Paying specialist rates for recall is the commonest overspend in this market and we will say so.

Blocks that improve more than one subject

Experimental method serves all three sciences. Command terms serve the humanities. Method-mark discipline serves maths and physics together. For a student with one afternoon, a block that covers two or three subjects is worth more than a weekly hour in one.

Slots that survive the school calendar

School revision sessions appear at short notice in the spring and take the afternoon booked in September. Online, that costs a message to move; with a visiting tutor it costs a route change or a cancelled session, which in a commuter district adds up quickly.

No promises and no borrowed credentials

Nobody can promise a grade and we do not. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, and claims none; where a provider claims one, ask for the number.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Meydan: your questions answered

Is there an IGCSE tutor near me in Meydan, or is everything online?+

Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE addresses; home visits are a service we run only in India. For this district the distance question matters less than it appears: Meydan has almost no schools inside it, so a visiting tutor would drive in against every surrounding school run, and District One's internal roads absorb around twenty minutes before reaching Al Khail. A 16:00 in-home slot routinely starts at 16:30 or later.

My child has nine subjects. Which one should we actually support?+

The one that passes two tests: it is at risk of a grade the student genuinely needs, and it will respond to the hours available between now and the papers. Chemistry precision habits and biology answer structure respond quickly. Additional Mathematics in February does not, because its content compounds. The subject with the worst report is often not the right answer. Marked scripts settle it in about half an hour, which is why the free trial is built around them.

Are some IGCSE subjects hard to find a tutor for in Dubai?+

Yes, and it is worth knowing before you start. Maths, English and the three sciences are well supplied, because UK-curriculum schools are 37% of Dubai's private-school enrolment and nearly everyone takes them. Additional Mathematics is timetabled in few schools and taught by fewer teachers. Computer Science needs somebody who knows the syllabus pseudocode conventions rather than a working programmer. First-language Arabic is a specific credential. Insisting on somebody who will drive narrows a small pool further.

What should I ask the school before hiring a tutor?+

Five things, in one email. The syllabus codes and tiers, not just the board name. Which practical component the sciences sit, because Cambridge's written alternative-to-practical paper is highly coachable. The entry deadline and whether tier decisions can still change. The mock window and whether scripts will be returned. And the activity and revision-session calendar, which is how you identify the one afternoon that will still be free in March rather than guessing at it.

Do the school's own revision sessions replace a tutor?+

Partly, and in a specific way. A school session covers the syllabus well: a teacher works through content in a planned sequence, and for a missing topic that is exactly right and already paid for. What it cannot do is stop at the line where one student's working breaks, which in maths and the sciences is where the marks are. The sensible division is to let the school cover content and buy diagnosis and technique, which also applies across more than one subject.

Is a cheap tutor ever the right answer?+

For some tasks, yes, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Budget online tutoring at AED 45 to 150 an hour — EdFlik from AED 45 to 65, Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, read October 2026 — buys a confident undergraduate, and for recall, arithmetic fluency or re-covering one Core-tier topic that is the correct purchase. Where it fails is mark-scheme judgement: whether a method mark would be awarded, whether a six-mark answer meets the structure, whether a write-up answers the question.

How long before the exams is it too late to start?+

It depends entirely on what is wrong rather than on the date. Technique — timing, command terms, question selection, method-mark discipline — stays fully recoverable into the final weeks because the gain is concentrated in a skill. Missing syllabus content is only partly recoverable, and compounding content such as Additional Mathematics barely at all. The trial lesson exists to tell you which case you are in before you spend, and a tutor who will not give that answer straight is booking rather than planning.

Should the weekly slot rotate between subjects?+

No, and this is the most common way a scarce afternoon gets wasted. Rotating by whichever report was worst that month produces thin passes across several subjects and measurable movement in none, because each subject gets re-diagnosed rather than worked. Hold the slot in one subject for a term and run short technique blocks alongside, choosing blocks that serve more than one subject — experimental method for all three sciences, command terms across the humanities.

What time will a session start if we are home at 16:45?+

Then do not plan an hour. A student home at 16:45 should be doing 45 minutes, and the subject in that slot should be one that survives tiredness — biology or geography recall rather than physics calculation, because an abandoned rearrangement loses the back half of a question. Families on the long school run to Al Barsha, Al Quoz or Silicon Oasis generally do better with one longer weekend block and one short weekday session than with two tired weekday hours.

Where is the line on coursework help at IGCSE?+

Within a narrow boundary, and the school's own rules govern it. A tutor may teach the content and skills, explain what the mark scheme rewards, discuss whether a topic is manageable, and give feedback on work the student has written. A tutor may not write, rewrite or edit submitted work to completion, supply content, or produce data. Ask the school what preparation is permitted and tell the tutor what the school said, because assumptions are where problems come from.

What are access arrangements and when do we have to ask?+

They are exam adjustments such as extra time, applied for by the school as the exam centre, based on evidence, with deadlines that sit well before the series. No tutoring provider arranges them, influences them or should suggest otherwise. What matters practically is the timing: a family who raises it after the deadline has lost something that was available. If there is any history of support in school, ask the exams officer or learning support lead early what evidence is needed and by when.

Is it possible to support two or three subjects in parallel?+

One properly, plus short blocks that happen to serve others. A Year 11 week in this district yields about one clear weekday afternoon and part of a weekend, and dividing that across three subjects produces three thin passes at the same total cost as one that works. The exception is a shared technique block: experimental method improves biology, chemistry and physics together, which is why it is the best-value purchase on this page for a multi-subject problem.

What does IGCSE tutoring cost here, by task?+

Match the band to the task. Recall and fluency: budget online at AED 45 to 150 an hour. Course support across a term: a qualified subject tutor at AED 150 to 300, Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. Mark-scheme work, tier judgement and coursework feedback: an IGCSE specialist at AED 200 to 450 or more, TutorChase publishing AED 270. Monthly, Bestimate gives AED 240 to 600 budget, 600 to 1,200 mid and 1,000 to 2,000 plus for specialist exam-year support.

If results disappoint, is a November retake worth it?+

It depends on the script rather than the grade, so request the script first. Both Cambridge and Pearson run a November series available to UAE candidates and that is the standard resit route; the Feb/March Cambridge route is offered to India only. If the losses were timing and technique, a short block before November is a realistic target. If whole topics were missing, the following June is usually the honest answer, and a tutor should say so rather than sell the shorter option.

Does the IGCSE subject choice limit what my child can do at sixteen?+

Yes, more than families expect. A Level Mathematics and Higher Level IB maths both assume the higher-tier IGCSE syllabus, and A Level and Higher Level sciences assume separate-science content. Several schools around Meydan offer both A Level and the IB Diploma, so the exit is a real choice. That is why the subject standing between your child and their intended route deserves the scarce afternoon even if another subject's report reads worse.

What should the free trial lesson settle for us?+

Which subject gets the afternoon. Send marked scripts from the two or three under consideration and ask for the session to be spent marking them with your child against the official scheme, then ask which will respond fastest to the hours available. A specialist answers in method marks and mark allocations and is willing to name one subject. A tutor who offers to help with all of them has answered a different question from the one you asked.

Decide the subject before you book the hour

An IGCSE tutor near me in Meydan is the wrong first question. The right one is which of nine subjects deserves the single clear afternoon a Year 11 week in this district actually produces. Get the syllabus codes and the activity calendar from the school, count the week honestly, and send marked scripts from the two or three subjects under consideration. The first lesson is a free diagnostic with no payment and no card, spent marking those scripts and naming which subject will move fastest with the hours you have.
