IB Home Tutor in Meydan

Searching for an IB home tutor in Meydan is usually a question about money as much as teaching: what does a tutor cost in this part of Dubai, what does the travel add, and where does a tutoring budget quietly disappear? This page answers all three with AED figures and their sources, then explains plainly that IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition online over live video rather than by home visit, and lets a comparison table make the case.

IB & IGCSE in Meydan

What a Meydan family is really asking about price

Parents in Meydan who go looking for a home tutor are rarely shopping for convenience alone. They are trying to work out what this costs, whether the number they have been quoted is reasonable, and what they are actually getting for it. That turns out to be remarkably hard to find out: of the six competitor pages measured for this project, three publish no price at all, two quote in US dollars, and one publishes an hourly figure that contradicts the price in its own structured data.

So this page leads with the money. Every AED figure on it is attributed to the competitor or rate table that published it and dated to when it was read, in October 2026. None of them is IB Gram's price list, and where our own pricing is relevant the honest answer is the free trial lesson and the consultation rather than a number invented for a web page. What the figures are for is giving you a reference point before you speak to anybody, including us.

The second half of the question is where the money goes wrong, and that is more useful than the rate. In this corridor the recurring patterns are identifiable: hours bought before any diagnosis, a flat monthly spend across two Diploma years when the need is concentrated in two terms, three subjects supported thinly instead of one properly, a travel premium paid weekly for two years, and a tutor retained past the point where the mark pattern stopped moving. Each of those costs thousands of dirhams and none of them is about the hourly rate.

Meydan itself shapes the arithmetic. The district sits around the racecourse inside Mohammed Bin Rashid City, with few schools inside its own boundaries, so almost every family drives out — commonly to Hartland International School or North London Collegiate School Dubai in Sobha Hartland, to Kings' School Nad Al Sheba, Repton School Dubai or GEMS Modern Academy next door, or further to Al Quoz and Al Jaddaf. A tutor driving in meets that traffic from the other direction, and somebody pays for the journey.

IB Gram delivers tuition to UAE families as one-to-one lessons over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to addresses anywhere in the UAE — home visits are a service we offer only in India. That is a pricing decision as much as an operational one: the market's in-home band sits AED 50 to 150 an hour above the equivalent online band, and what that buys is proximity rather than subject depth. The table further down sets both out side by side so you can judge it rather than take it on trust.

One instruction worth acting on before reading any further. Work out, in a single number, what you have spent on tutoring over the last twelve months. Most families in this corridor have never added it up, and the total is usually larger than the hourly rate suggested and arrived without a decision ever being taken to spend it. That number is the only honest starting point for the sections below, because every argument on this page is about where it goes rather than about how big it is.

At a glance

  • Market in-home rates run AED 180-500 an hour including travel; online qualified tutors AED 150-300
  • Monthly packages seen: around AED 799 for eight online sessions, AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour visits
  • Bestimate's Dubai estimates: AED 240-600 budget, 600-1,200 mid, 1,000-2,000+ specialist exam year
  • Meydan has few schools inside it, so travel runs both ways at pick-up
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years
  • IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; lessons are live one-to-one video
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost behaves differently at each stage of the IB, and a family planning a budget needs to know which stage they are funding. These are the four stages a Meydan family meets, described by what support actually costs at each.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The cheapest stage to buy support at and the one families buy least of, which is usually the right instinct. PYP has no terminal assessment, so there is no grade to protect, and the sensible purchase is short and diagnostic: whether number work and reading comprehension are secure enough for the next stage. A standing weekly commitment at this age is rarely good value.

The exception in Dubai is Arabic. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and for a Meydan family arriving from outside the region Arabic from a standing start is the one PYP-stage request that reliably pays for itself, because it is far cheaper to begin here than in MYP.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Marked on four criteria out of 8 per subject, and the cost-efficient purchase is almost always one criterion rather than one subject. A student scoring well on three criteria and poorly on a fourth needs three or four sessions on the fourth, not a term of general subject work. The final-year Personal Project is the other point where short, scheduled support earns its fee.

Meydan has a high share of families in their first or second UAE year, which produces a specific MYP pattern: a mid-programme arrival who needs the criteria explained before any teaching. That single conversation often removes the need for the weekly arrangement the family was about to buy, which is worth knowing before committing to one.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Where the money actually goes. Six subjects, three at Higher Level, three internal assessments, a 4,000-word Extended Essay and a 1,600-word Theory of Knowledge essay. Spend concentrates sensibly in two places: the term in which the internal assessments are drafted, and the six to eight weeks before papers. A flat monthly figure across two years overspends early and runs short late.

UAE schools sit the May session. No specific IB session or results date appears on this page, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and no date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. Confirm every one with your school's IB coordinator, because a budget built around an unverified date is a budget built on a guess.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses alongside a career-related study and a core including a reflective project. Provision in Dubai is thin, so families comparing it against the full Diploma are often doing so for load reasons rather than cost reasons. Where it is chosen, the tutoring budget narrows to the Diploma courses carried forward and the reflective project.

Because CP availability is limited locally, families weighing it should settle the Ministry of Education equivalency question first. Equivalency rules are set by the Ministry and must be checked on moe.gov.ae for the specific qualification combination; no tutoring provider can decide it, and no page should imply that tutoring affects it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subject choice drives cost more than most families expect, because the specialist bands apply unevenly. Below are the Diploma subjects Meydan students ask for, each with a note on where its support budget actually goes.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most expensive subject to support properly at Higher Level, because Paper 3 marking and exploration feedback are narrow specialisms. The cheap version — general maths revision — reliably fails here. Standard Level is more forgiving and sits comfortably in the mid band rather than the specialist one.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Calculator-assumed throughout, which makes the content more accessible to a competent generalist at Standard Level. The spend worth protecting is the exploration, marked on five criteria over 20 marks, where personal engagement and reflection are the criteria most often scored low and the cheapest to improve.

Physics

HL and SL

Often the wrong purchase. A large share of poor physics marks trace to the mathematics underneath rather than the physics, so four sessions on vectors, logarithms and rearrangement can be better value than a term of theme revision. Test the algebra before funding the physics.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Good value to support because the losses are precision rather than ignorance: enthalpy signs, missing state symbols, trends described instead of explained. Those are drillable in three or four sessions and apply to every paper, which is an unusually concentrated return.

Biology

HL and SL

Content-dense and command-term sensitive, which means the useful spend is on answer structure rather than on coverage. A six-mark extended answer written to a rehearsed template scores consistently; the same knowledge written as a list does not. Three sessions on structure often outperforms ten on content.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Individual Oral is assessed on four criteria over 40 marks and is the most schedulable, most improvable component in the subject, which makes short scheduled support better value than a standing weekly hour. The HL essay's 1,200 to 1,500 word range is the other defined target.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams are marked rather than decorative, so a short block on diagram discipline — labelled axes, shifted curves, new equilibrium marked — buys marks across every paper. The internal assessment is three commentaries with word limits, which makes it a defined and therefore efficient piece of work to support.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tools are examined for application to the stimulus rather than for definition, so the efficient purchase is practice at reaching a judgement from a case. Students who can list the parts of a framework and never use it are the common pattern, and it is a technique fix rather than a content one.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

A 1,600-word essay on one of six prescribed titles, plus the exhibition. Short, scheduled support at the title-choice stage is disproportionately valuable, because a title chosen badly costs the whole essay. Weekly TOK tutoring across a year is rarely a good use of money.

Extended Essay

Core

Four thousand words marked on five criteria over 34 marks, with the planning reflections contributing. The efficient spend is three or four scheduled feedback sessions on the student's own drafts rather than an ongoing arrangement. Nothing may be written or redrafted for the student at any point.

Internal assessments across the sciences

HL and SL

Four criteria, 24 marks, a 3,000-word limit. The highest-value single intervention in the whole Diploma is checking, before any data is collected, that the research question can actually be answered by the chosen method. That is one session and it saves six weeks.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

HL, SL and ab initio

Required in Dubai private schools under KHDA rules regardless of the licensed curriculum, so for many Meydan families this is a cost they did not plan for. Support works within the school's own approved material, because KHDA prohibits different or additional content for the mandatory subjects without Ministry permission.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, priced differently and useful at different moments. The cost mistake families in this corridor make most often is buying the first one when they needed the second, and keeping it running after it stopped working.

Weekly one-to-one by subject

One tutor, one subject, one fixed weekly slot on Gulf Standard Time. The right purchase when a specific diagnosed gap needs rebuilding across a term, which is mostly DP1 rather than DP2. It is also the format most likely to be bought by default and kept too long, so it comes with a review point built in.

  • A free trial lesson before anything is paid
  • Written note after each session naming what was worked
  • A review at six to eight sessions: has the mark pattern moved?
  • Changing tutor mid-term costs nothing

Scheduled feedback blocks

Three or four sessions placed around a specific deliverable — an internal assessment draft, the Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge title choice, an Individual Oral. Defined start, defined end, defined piece of work. Usually the best value in the whole Diploma because the target is concrete and the block finishes.

  • Scheduled to the school's internal deadlines, not weekly
  • Feedback against criteria letters and their mark allocations
  • Nothing drafted, rewritten or supplied for the student
  • Ends when the piece is submitted

Final-run paper blocks

Two or three shorter sessions a week in the last six to eight weeks, spent on timed sections marked against official schemes. This is where exam-year spend belongs, and where it does most work, because technique and question selection are still fully recoverable when content no longer is.

  • Timed sections rather than whole untimed papers
  • Marked line by line against the official scheme
  • A written list of topics to stop revising
  • A fixed number of weeks, then it stops

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Meydan

01

What IB tutoring actually costs in this part of Dubai

Here are the numbers, with their owners. Budget online tutoring, generally a university student, runs AED 45 to 150 an hour: EdFlik publishes from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. A qualified subject tutor online runs AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. An IB, IGCSE or A-Level specialist runs AED 200 to 450 or more, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table giving 200 to 450 plus. In-home one-to-one, travel included, runs AED 180 to 500, Bestimate at 180 to 350 and independent home tutors at 200 to 500. The premium end reaches AED 500 to 650 and above, BartyED publishing AED 650.

Monthly, the same sources give shape rather than precision. Bestimate's estimates for a weekly one-hour session come out at AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Published packages in this market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Two readings of that spread matter for a Meydan family. The first is that the bands buy genuinely different things rather than the same thing at different prices: the bottom buys a confident undergraduate with no board marking experience, the middle buys a trained teacher who may not know your specific paper, the specialist band buys somebody who teaches one subject at one level all week. The top band buys reputation, which is sometimes a different lesson and sometimes not.

The second is that the in-home band sits above the online band by roughly AED 50 to 150 an hour, and that difference is travel. It is not a quality premium and nobody in the market claims it is. Paid weekly across two Diploma years in one subject, it comes to several thousand dirhams — which is itself a term of specialist support. That arithmetic is the reason the next sections exist.

Five ways a Meydan tutoring budget gets wasted

The hourly rate is the least important variable in what a family ends up spending. These five patterns cost far more, they recur across this corridor, and every one of them is avoidable with a decision taken before the money moves rather than after.

The first is buying hours before any diagnosis. A weekly subject hour purchased because a report was disappointing spends most of its time on material the student already has, because nobody established where the marks were actually going. A marked script and one diagnostic session answer that, and the answer frequently redirects the purchase entirely — most often towards technique, a single criterion, or the mathematics underneath a science.

The second is a flat monthly spend across two Diploma years. The need is concentrated in two places: the term in which internal assessments are drafted, and the six to eight weeks before papers. Spending the same amount in DP1 term two as in DP2 term four means overspending when nothing is urgent and running short when everything is. The third is supporting three subjects thinly rather than one properly; three thin passes move nothing and cost the same as one that works.

The fourth is the travel premium, paid weekly for two years, for proximity rather than depth. The fifth, and the most expensive, is keeping a tutor past the point where the mark pattern stopped moving. Six to eight sessions is enough to tell whether something is working. Carrying on because the slot is already in the calendar is how a term and several thousand dirhams disappear without anybody deciding to spend them.

The home-tutoring question, answered properly

A home tutor in Meydan is a real and reasonable thing to want, and the market supplies it. What it involves is worth setting out accurately, because the honest version is more useful than either a sales pitch or a dismissal.

What you get is presence. A parent can see the session happening. A thirteen-year-old cannot quietly open another tab. A tutor in the room notices a wandering attention sooner. For younger students and for students who need supervision as much as teaching, those are genuine advantages that no amount of argument about tutor pools dissolves. What it costs is the travel premium of roughly AED 50 to 150 an hour, a narrower pool of tutors — limited to those willing to drive to Mohammed Bin Rashid City — and a fixed slot that cannot move when the school adds a revision class.

The travel reality in Meydan specifically is worth stating. There are few schools inside the district, so children travel out and a visiting tutor travels in, both through the same afternoon congestion. District One's internal roads and limited exits onto Al Khail absorb twenty minutes before a car reaches a main road. A 16:00 in-home session in this part of Dubai is routinely a 16:40 session, and the tutor's lost time is priced into the rate whether or not it appears on the invoice.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. So this is not a comparison we are using to steer you — it is the reasoning behind a decision already taken, set out so you can test it against your own week. If after reading the table you conclude that presence matters more for your child than tutor choice does, that is a legitimate conclusion and the market will serve it. What we sell is the other side of the trade.

Two Diploma years, month by month

A tutoring budget for the Diploma should be lumpy, and most families make theirs flat. The need is genuinely concentrated: two periods do most of the work, two more are worth a modest standing arrangement, and two are worth very little at all. Knowing the shape in advance is worth more than negotiating the rate.

DP1 term one is the cheapest and most leveraged period. Content is being built rather than repaired, nothing is urgent, and a gap closed here costs a fraction of what the same gap costs eighteen months later. A single weekly session in the subject most likely to be taken at Higher Level is usually enough. DP1 term two is maintenance. DP1 term three is where exploration and internal assessment topics get chosen, and a short feedback block at that point is disproportionately valuable because a topic chosen badly costs six months.

DP2 term four is the expensive one and should be. Three internal assessments, the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay collide here while new Higher Level content is still arriving. This is where scheduled feedback blocks earn their fee, and where a family who spent flat through DP1 discovers they have less room than they thought. Term five is the mock cycle and the fortnight after it, which is the most informative data of the two years and has a short shelf life.

Term six is the final run: two or three shorter sessions a week on timed sections for a fixed number of weeks, then stop. Note what the table below does not contain: a recommendation to spend continuously. The honest shape of a Diploma tutoring budget has gaps in it, and a provider who proposes an unbroken two-year arrangement is proposing something that suits them.

Tutoring cost in context: fees, the freeze and entry

A tutoring figure makes more sense beside the other education costs a Meydan family already carries. The most useful anchor is public and dated: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion out of AED 2.5 billion in total.

That matters because a family who had budgeted for a fee increase and did not receive one has headroom that did not exist a year earlier. The most common use of it in this corridor is one subject of weekly support in an examined year. It is worth spending deliberately rather than letting it drift, because a standing weekly hour bought without a diagnosis is the easiest money to waste in this market and the first of the five patterns above.

Supply context is also moving. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools — four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate — creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. The emirate's private sector held 387,441 students across 227 schools in 2024-25 offering seventeen curricula, with the IB at around 7% of enrolment. More IB places means more Diploma candidates, which over time thickens the local tutoring market rather than thinning it.

One cost families forget entirely until it arrives: examination entry for anybody sitting outside their school's normal process, and any retake arrangements. Those are the school's or the board's charges rather than a tutor's, and they are worth asking the exams officer about early. A tutoring budget set without them is a budget that will be revised in the spring.

Provider models compared, not brands

Comparing providers honestly means comparing models, because a brand comparison in this market quickly becomes a claim about somebody else's quality that nobody can evidence. The models differ in ways that affect cost directly, and the differences are structural rather than reputational.

A platform or agency sets the rate, vets the tutor and handles replacement; you pay for that layer and you get recourse if the match fails. An international marketplace is usually cheaper and puts the vetting on you, which is fine if you know what questions to ask and expensive if you do not. A freelance tutor found through a community group may be excellent and is entirely your own due diligence, including the permit question. A tuition centre adds structure and peers, charges less per student for a shared pace, and adds a commute at the end of a school day.

The question worth asking every model is what happens when it goes wrong. If the tutor is not the right fit, who absorbs that — you, or the provider? If a session is missed, who bears it? If the subject at the level you need is unavailable, are you told, or matched to somebody adjacent? Those three answers separate providers more reliably than the headline rate, and they are the questions least likely to be answered on a pricing page.

One caution about the market generally rather than any brand in it. The researched competitor set includes pages with contradictory prices between the body and the structured data, self-asserted star ratings, and in one case a school listed as a client that appears not to exist. A provider whose own figures disagree across two sections of its own website is telling you something about its record-keeping, and that is a legitimate thing to notice without naming anybody.

What a free trial lesson should actually tell you

  • Send a marked script in advance and ask for it to be marked with the student
  • Listen for command terms, criteria letters and method marks
  • Ask how many sessions the pattern suggests
  • Ask what they would deliberately not work on
  • Ask what condition is attached to the word free

A free trial is the only part of this market a parent can evaluate before paying, and most families use it badly. Treated as a sample lesson it tells you whether the tutor is pleasant. Treated as a diagnostic it tells you whether they know the paper, which is the thing you are actually buying.

Set it up to answer that. Send a marked script in advance and ask for the session to be spent on it: here is a question my child lost marks on, mark it with them against the official scheme and tell me what the pattern is. A specialist will do that comfortably and will talk in command terms, criteria letters, method marks and mark allocations. A generalist will drift towards re-teaching the topic, which is a perfectly good lesson and not the answer to your question.

Then ask two more things before the session ends. How many sessions does this pattern suggest, and what would you deliberately not work on? A tutor willing to name what they will leave alone is planning. A tutor who proposes an open-ended weekly arrangement for everything is selling. The second answer is more informative than the first.

On the word free: the trial is one lesson, with no payment and no card required, and that is the whole condition. It is worth asking any provider in this market to state the condition attached to their own free offer on the same screen as the word, because 'free' with an unstated condition is the oldest inefficiency in this business and it is still common.

08

Hidden extras, and what a quote should include

  • Session length behind the hourly figure: 45 minutes or 60
  • Whether the quoted number includes VAT
  • Whether materials are charged separately
  • Who bears a missed session, and the notice period
  • What happens to unused sessions if you stop
  • For in-home: whether travel is inside the rate or added

The quoted hourly rate is not the price, and the gap between them is where families in this corridor get caught. A quote worth comparing has to answer five questions, and in this market it frequently answers none of them on the page where the number appears.

First, session length: an hourly rate attached to 45-minute sessions is a different price from the same rate attached to 60 minutes, and both exist. Second, VAT: whether the quoted figure includes it. This page will not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition as fact, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation nobody in this market provides — what a parent can reasonably demand is simply whether the number quoted to them is inclusive. Third, materials: whether anything is charged for separately.

Fourth, cancellation and no-shows: who bears a missed session, and with how much notice. Fifth, what happens to unused sessions if you stop. A package bought monthly and abandoned in week two is a real scenario and the answer should be written down before it happens, not negotiated afterwards.

One more, specific to in-home arrangements: whether travel is inside the rate or added, and whether it changes for Mohammed Bin Rashid City given the internal distances. The published in-home band of AED 180 to 500 is described as including travel, but that is the market's framing and an individual tutor's quote may not follow it. Ask, and get the answer in writing rather than in a conversation.

09

Is the person you are paying permitted to tutor here?

This is a cost question as well as a compliance one, because a tutor operating outside the permit system is a tutor with no recourse if the arrangement goes wrong. It also has a clean answer that almost nobody in this market publishes.

Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service page is 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', listing no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Two consequences for a Meydan parent. Anybody describing the permit as costly, optional or unavailable to them is either misinformed or not applying. And u.ae states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE will be subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, and Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify the amounts, so no figure should be quoted to you by anybody.

There is also a conduct rule worth knowing before arranging anything convenient. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct similarly bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. However tempting it looks, do not arrange paid tutoring with your child's own classroom teacher. Separately, IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and claims none.

When to stop paying

  • Put the review date in the calendar on the day you start
  • Measure the mark pattern, not the grade or the mood
  • If the pattern has not moved in six to eight sessions, change something
  • Prefer formats with a built-in ending over standing arrangements
  • An arrangement with no proposed end is a warning sign

Almost nothing written about tutoring addresses the ending, which is why so much of it runs on indefinitely. A tutoring arrangement should have a point at which it stops, and deciding that point in advance is the single most effective cost control available to a Meydan family.

The review question is narrow and answerable: six to eight sessions in, has the mark pattern moved? Not the grade, which lags, and not the student's confidence, which can improve while nothing else does. The pattern — the categories in which marks are being lost — is the measurable thing. If it has shifted, the arrangement is working and should continue to its planned end. If it has not, either the diagnosis was wrong or the fit is wrong, and both are the provider's problem to fix rather than the family's to fund.

Scheduled blocks end naturally, which is part of why they are good value. A feedback block on an internal assessment finishes when the piece is submitted. A final-run paper block finishes a fixed number of weeks before papers. A criterion block in MYP finishes in three or four sessions. The format with no natural ending is the standing weekly hour, which is exactly the one most families buy first.

So the honest recommendation to end a page about cost is this: buy less than you think you need, buy it with a diagnosis in front of you, put a review date in the calendar on the day you start, and treat the absence of an ending as a warning sign rather than a convenience. The AED figures on this page are there so you can compare before you speak to anybody, and the free trial is there so the judgement about subject depth is made by you before any money moves.

Where we tutor

Meydan and the communities it borders

Meydan sits inside Mohammed Bin Rashid City with few schools of its own, so travel shapes both the school run and what a visiting tutor would charge. These are the communities families on this page come from.

Meydan

Low-rise and villa stock around the racecourse and Meydan One, with few schools inside the district itself. Almost every family drives out, so a visiting tutor would be entering the same pick-up traffic from the opposite direction.

Sobha Hartland

Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai sit inside the community, which makes it the one part of this block where a short school run is normal and an early session is easy to schedule.

Nad Al Sheba

Repton School Dubai, Kings' School Nad Al Sheba and GEMS Modern Academy inside the district, either side of Dubai-Al Ain Road. Many Meydan children travel here, which sets the realistic session start at around 16:00.

Mohammed Bin Rashid City

District One and the surrounding villa plots, with long internal roads and limited exits onto Al Khail. Twenty minutes disappears inside the community at pick-up, and a visiting tutor's travel time is billed to somebody.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

Mixed residential and industrial with schools on the edges. Families travelling here start sessions after 17:00 on school days, which pushes a weekly arrangement into the least productive part of the evening.

Business Bay

High-rise apartments and short commutes, with children mostly at Downtown and Al Jaddaf schools. Evening slots after 19:00 are common, and short focused sessions are better value than long ones at that hour.

Downtown Dubai

No school on site, so every family drives out and back. The narrow window between home and dinner argues for scheduled blocks around deadlines rather than a thin standing weekly hour.

Al Jaddaf and Culture Village

Swiss International Scientific School Dubai anchors this end of the corridor with a bilingual IB continuum. The drive from Meydan is manageable outbound and slow at pick-up, which again lands the session after 16:30.

DIFC

Few families, almost all apartments with long parental working days. Weekend sessions dominate here, and for a visiting tutor a weekend slot usually carries the same travel premium as a weekday one.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Meydan

Meydan, Sobha Hartland and Nad Al Sheba

The schools Meydan children most often attend, inside the neighbouring communities rather than the district itself. Between them they run the IB Diploma, a full continuum and British secondary routes, so two Meydan neighbours can be funding very different programmes.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Kings' School Nad Al Sheba
  • Repton School Dubai
  • GEMS Modern Academy

The corridor from Al Jaddaf to Al Barsha

Schools a Meydan family will also have toured or shortlisted, several running the IB across more than one programme. Most remaining enquiries from this page come from students at this set.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha
  • Safa Community School
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Schools are named as context for the neighbourhood's education options; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send a marked script and three dates

The useful opening message names the subject and level, the school, and the next three dates that matter: the coursework deadline, the mock window and the papers. Attach or describe the most recent marked piece of work. That is enough to say what the next term can change, and roughly what it should cost.

  2. 02

Use the free trial as a diagnostic

One live session with no payment and no card required, spent marking your child's own script against the official scheme rather than teaching a topic. Ask at the end how many sessions the pattern suggests and what the tutor would deliberately leave alone. The second answer tells you whether you are being planned for or sold to.

  3. 03

Buy the narrowest thing that fits

A single criterion, a single component, a single diagnosed gap. Scheduled blocks with a defined end are better value than a standing weekly hour because the target is concrete and the arrangement finishes. One subject supported properly beats three supported thinly, every time, at the same price.

  4. 04

Put the review date in the calendar now

Six to eight sessions ahead, with one question against it: has the mark pattern moved? Not the grade, which lags. If it has not, the diagnosis or the fit is wrong, and changing tutor costs nothing. Carrying on because the slot exists is how a term and several thousand dirhams disappear unnoticed.

  5. 05

Concentrate the spend where it works

Light in DP1 term one, where content is being built cheaply. A short block when internal assessment topics are chosen. Heavy in DP2 term four when three assessments collide, and again in the final weeks. A flat monthly figure across two years overspends early and runs short exactly when it matters.

  6. 06

Get the terms in writing before paying

Session length behind the rate, whether VAT is included, who bears a missed session and with what notice, and what happens to unused sessions if you stop. Four short answers. In this market they are frequently absent from the page where the price appears, and they are worth more than a discount.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Prices on the page, with their owners

Every AED figure here is attributed to the competitor or rate table that published it and dated to October 2026. Three of six researched competitors publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars, which is not a currency Meydan families transact in.

The travel premium separated out

The market's in-home band sits AED 50 to 150 an hour above the equivalent online band, and that gap is journey time rather than teaching. We do not sell home visits in the UAE — that service is India-only — so the comparison is reasoning rather than a pitch.

Formats that end

Scheduled feedback blocks and final-run paper blocks have a defined finish, which is most of why they are better value than a standing weekly hour. We will tell you when a block should stop rather than letting it roll into the next term.

A review point built in

At six to eight sessions the question is whether the mark pattern has moved. If it has not, the diagnosis or the fit is wrong, and both are ours to fix. Changing tutor mid-term costs nothing and is usually the right call rather than an awkward one.

Availability stated before you pay

If the subject at the level you need has nobody free this term, you get a date or a straight no rather than a generalist with the right label. The free trial exists so the judgement about subject depth is yours, made before any money moves.

No regulator or board claimed as a credential

KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE and the Ministry of Education are explained here because the permit question is a real one. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from any of them, nor from the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and claims none.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Meydan: your questions answered

Can we get an IB home tutor in Meydan through IB Gram?+

No, and it is better to say so plainly than to leave it ambiguous. IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition to UAE families over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and does not send tutors to addresses anywhere in the UAE — home visits are a service we run only in India. The market does supply in-home tutoring in this corridor at AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel, which is roughly AED 50 to 150 above the equivalent online rate. That premium buys presence rather than subject depth.

What does a home visit actually add to the price?+

Roughly AED 50 to 150 an hour, based on figures read in October 2026. In-home one-to-one runs AED 180 to 500 including travel, with Bestimate's Dubai table giving 180 to 350 and independent home tutors 200 to 500, while a qualified subject tutor online runs AED 150 to 300. Monthly packages show the same gap: around AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Across two Diploma years in one subject, that difference reaches several thousand dirhams.

Where does a tutoring budget in this area most often get wasted?+

Five patterns, in order of cost. Hours bought before any diagnosis, so most of a term is spent on material the student already has. A flat monthly spend across two Diploma years when the need is concentrated in two terms. Three subjects supported thinly rather than one properly. The travel premium paid weekly for two years. And keeping a tutor past the point where the mark pattern stopped moving, which is the most expensive of the five because nobody decides to do it.

How much should a Meydan family expect to pay per month?+

Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 estimates, for a weekly one-hour session, come out at AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Published packages elsewhere include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Expect the figure to be lumpy rather than flat: light in DP1 term one, heavy in DP2 term four when three internal assessments collide, and heavy again in the final weeks.

Is the cheapest tutor ever the right choice?+

Sometimes, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Budget online tutoring at AED 45 to 150 an hour — EdFlik from AED 45 to 65, Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 — buys a confident undergraduate, and for a single Standard Level topic gap with a parent keeping an eye on progress that can be exactly right. Where it reliably fails is Higher Level coursework feedback and anything requiring mark-scheme judgement, because that is experience rather than subject knowledge and the lower bands do not carry it.

What should be included in a tutoring quote before we pay?+

Five things, and in this market they are often absent from the page where the price appears. The session length behind the hourly figure, because 45 minutes and 60 minutes are different prices. Whether the number includes VAT. Whether materials are charged separately. Who bears a missed session and with how much notice. And what happens to unused sessions if you stop. Get those in writing rather than in conversation; they are worth more than a discount on the rate.

How do we judge a tutor in a single free session?+

Send a marked script in advance and ask for the session to be spent on it, marking it with your child against the official scheme rather than re-teaching the topic. A specialist talks in command terms, criteria letters, method marks and mark allocations. Then ask two questions: how many sessions does this pattern suggest, and what would you deliberately not work on. The willingness to name what they will leave alone is the clearest signal available that you are being planned for.

How do we know it is time to end a tutoring arrangement?+

Put a review date six to eight sessions ahead on the day you start, with one question against it: has the mark pattern moved? Not the grade, which lags, and not confidence, which can improve while nothing else does. If the pattern has shifted, continue to the planned end. If it has not, the diagnosis or the fit is wrong and changing costs nothing. An arrangement with no proposed ending at all should be treated as a warning rather than a convenience.

Is a tuition centre cheaper than one-to-one for IB subjects?+

Per student, yes, because the attention is shared and the pace is fixed. Whether it is better value depends on whether your child's gaps match the group's. For a diagnosed specific weakness — one criterion, one component, one topic blocking everything built on it — a group moving through a set sequence cannot intervene at the line where the work breaks. Centres also add a commute at the end of a school day, which from Meydan lands in the same traffic that delays a visiting tutor.

What time can a session realistically start in Meydan?+

Around 16:00 for most families, because Meydan has few schools inside the district and children travel out — commonly to Sobha Hartland or Nad Al Sheba. Families whose school sits inside Sobha Hartland can manage 15:30. A visiting tutor driving in meets the same congestion from the other direction, and District One's internal roads absorb twenty minutes before a car reaches Al Khail, so an in-home 16:00 slot is routinely a 16:40 one in practice.

Do we need to check whether a tutor holds a permit?+

Yes, and it is quick. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Anyone describing it as expensive or optional is misinformed. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, so there is no reasonable excuse for not holding one.

Can we hire our child's own teacher privately?+

Do not. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct similarly bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Beyond the rules, it is an awkward arrangement for the student if it goes badly. Treat press-reported policy as something to verify against the current ADEK document, and treat the general direction as settled.

Which part of the Diploma is the best value to pay for?+

Internal assessment feedback, and specifically one session before any data or drafting begins. The highest-value single intervention in the whole Diploma is checking that a research question can actually be answered by the chosen method, because a design fault is visible to a specialist in minutes and invisible to the student for six weeks. After that, the second-best purchase is a short block on command terms and timing, which transfers across every subject the student sits.

Does the school fee freeze change what we should budget for tutoring?+

It creates headroom for families who had budgeted for an increase. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. The most common use of that headroom in this corridor is one subject of weekly support in an examined year — worth spending on a diagnosed gap deliberately rather than letting it become a standing hour nobody reviews.

Will paying more get our child a better grade?+

Nobody can promise a grade and no honest provider will put a number on an outcome. What more money reliably buys is narrower expertise: somebody who teaches one subject at one level all week and has marked against the official scheme. That matters for Higher Level coursework feedback and mark-scheme judgement, and matters much less for Standard Level topic revision. Paying specialist rates for a task the mid band covers is one of the five waste patterns on this page.

Do you provide past papers or materials as part of the fee?+

No, and nothing is charged for them either. IB, Cambridge and Pearson materials are copyright, some unreleased, so we do not host, reproduce or distribute papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides. Your school holds licensed access and the boards publish through their own platforms at ibo.org, cambridgeinternational.org and qualifications.pearson.com. Sessions work from the copies the school or board provides, and the paid time goes on marking rather than on sourcing documents.

Buy less, with a diagnosis in front of you

If you came here looking for an IB home tutor in Meydan, the honest answer is that IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition online rather than by home visit, and that the market's in-home premium of roughly AED 50 to 150 an hour buys presence rather than subject depth. Send the subject and level, the next three dates that matter, and the most recent marked script. The first lesson is a free diagnostic with no payment and no card, and it should end with two numbers: how many sessions the pattern suggests, and what the tutor would deliberately leave alone.
