IB Tutor near me in JLT

Search "IB tutor near me" from a tower in JLT and Google answers with a map. The map answers a question Jumeirah Lake Towers does not have: there are nurseries here but no secondary school of its own, so every child already travels out and so does any tutor who drives in. This page prices the alternative honestly. What Dubai providers publish per hour, what the hour actually contains, and the four places a JLT household's tutoring money leaks. Sessions run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, starting with a free trial lesson and no card details.

  • Matched on subject and level, not on which tower you live in
  • Every AED figure on this page carries its source and its date
  • Live video sessions timed around the real JLT return commute
  • Free trial lesson and a written diagnosis, no card details taken

IB & IGCSE in JLT

The map answers a question JLT does not have

A search for an IB tutor near me in JLT is a reasonable thing to type and an expensive way to sort the answer. Jumeirah Lake Towers is a tower district built around four man-made lakes, wrapped by Sheikh Zayed Road on one side and the DMCC free zone in its middle. It has nurseries. It has no secondary school of its own. Every school-age child living in these clusters commutes out, most of them across Sheikh Zayed Road into Al Sufouh and Al Barsha, or up the interchange towards Jumeirah Village and The Meadows. Distance from your tower therefore tells you almost nothing about who can teach a Diploma component, and quite a lot about who is willing to spend an hour in traffic to try.

Price is where that confusion becomes visible. Published Dubai figures, read in October 2026, run from AED 45 to 65 an hour at EdFlik and from AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya, through AED 150 for IGCSE and AED 200 for IB at Unitors, to AED 270 at TutorChase and AED 650 at BartyED. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table puts in-home one-to-one work at AED 180 to 350, and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500. Those are other providers' numbers, not ours. Read together, they say something useful: the spread is driven as much by format and travel as by teaching, and three of the six pages currently ranking for these searches publish no price at all.

This page is written from the money, because that is the decision a JLT family is actually making. Four leaks account for most of the waste we see. Families buy hours instead of naming a component, so nothing gets diagnosed and the same hours get bought again next term. They pay a travel premium for a tower address, which buys a car journey rather than better teaching. They buy at the wrong level, paying Standard Level depth for a Higher Level problem. And they compress the whole budget into the six weeks before papers, which is the most expensive hour in the calendar and the least able to rebuild a topic that was never learned.

A plain word on delivery before any of the rest matters. Sessions are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time so they sit between the school bus and the hour when a 17-year-old stops absorbing anything. IB Gram does not offer home visits in JLT, in Dubai, or anywhere in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. The exchange is deliberate and worth stating in cash terms: you give up the person at the door and you stop paying for the Sheikh Zayed Road crossing, which on the published in-home bands is a meaningful share of every hour billed.

There is a regulatory reason the nearest qualified adult is also the wrong default. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers categories including registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Its code of conduct bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi school staff are reported to do the same. So the physics teacher two towers away may be the one person legally unable to take your child.

None of this makes proximity worthless. It sets the clock. The school bus route decides when your child is home, fed and still functional, and in JLT that hour varies by half an hour or more depending on which school the family chose and which exit the bus uses. That is a real constraint and this page takes it seriously. What proximity does not decide is who should teach Chemistry at Higher Level, and paying as though it did is the single most reliable way to spend AED 20,000 across a Diploma and change nothing.

At a glance

  • No secondary school inside JLT, so every child here already commutes out
  • Published market bands quoted with provider, source and October 2026 read date
  • The in-home premium priced as travel, not as teaching quality
  • Permit position stated plainly, including who may not legally tutor your child
  • Match time and the fallback disclosed before any payment is taken
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

JLT households run across all three school-age IB programmes at once, because the towers hold families at very different stages. What changes between them is not the subject list but what a paid hour can realistically achieve, and therefore what it is worth.

DPAges 16-19 - Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Three Higher Level subjects, three at Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Higher Level is where specialist supply thins and where the money question sharpens: the extra papers separate grades, and a teacher comfortable at Standard Level is not automatically comfortable above it. Name the level in writing before you agree an hourly rate, because the two are not the same product.

JLT Diploma students mostly sit the May session at schools in Al Barsha, Al Sufouh, The Meadows or Emirates Hills, and apply to UK, North American and UAE universities in parallel. Because the schools are a drive away, DP2 families here feel the cost of the evening clock more than most: a visiting tutor's slot has to survive both commutes, and the hour that survives is usually too late to be useful.

MYPAges 11-16 - Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Five years of interdisciplinary study assessed against criteria rather than papers, ending for many students in a Personal Project. The spending mistake here is buying weekly general support for a child who is coping, instead of buying a short block when the criteria change. MYP marks move when a student understands what a command term is asking, which is a few sessions of work, not a standing monthly cost.

The MYP-to-Diploma step is where JLT families most often start paying. A child who has been marked on criteria for five years meets percentage-weighted papers for the first time, and the gap shows up in term two of DP1. Buying six sessions in that term is reliably cheaper than buying thirty in DP2, and it is the one piece of timing advice this page would put above all the rate tables.

PYPAges 3-12 - FS2 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led primary learning with no external examinations, which changes the value of paid tutoring completely. At this stage an hour is worth buying for a specific, named gap: number bonds, phonics decoding, written structure. It is rarely worth buying as an open-ended weekly habit, and the budget bands at the bottom of the published market are usually the right ones here.

Primary-age children in JLT travel to schools in The Greens, Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village and Jebel Ali, and are often home earlier than their secondary siblings. That makes a 4pm slot genuinely available for the younger child, and it is the one age group where a short online session before the family evening starts tends to work better than anything scheduled later.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below, the place inside each subject where JLT families most often decide to start paying. Not the whole syllabus: the specific component where a cohort stalls, which is also where an hour converts into marks fastest and therefore where the money should go first.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Equilibrium and energetics at Standard Level; organic mechanisms, buffers and the data-analysis demands of the extended papers at Higher Level. Requests cluster in DP1 term two, when the internal investigation design lands in the same fortnight as the first serious equilibrium questions and the family suddenly needs two different kinds of help.

Physics

HL and SL

Fields, circular motion and the written-explanation questions that want a reason rather than a number. Students who handle the algebra comfortably often arrive needing help only with the prose half of the paper, which is a cheaper fix than it looks and a different lesson from the one parents usually ask for.

Biology

HL and SL

Command-term discipline and the long-answer questions where a correct idea scores nothing because it is not expressed in the scheme's terms. Biology shares enough molecular content with chemistry that one teacher can often carry both, which is where a real reduction in total spend comes from rather than from a package discount.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The route taken by most JLT students aiming at engineering, economics or medicine. One paper is sat without a calculator, which is the component that exposes gaps in algebraic fluency carried over from IGCSE, and the one most often fixed with a short block rather than a year of weekly sessions.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Technology-active and statistics-heavy, with a modelling emphasis. Students arrive needing help with interpretation rather than manipulation: reading what a regression output means, justifying a model choice, and writing the sentence the mark scheme is waiting for after the calculation is done.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy and the internal assessment commentaries, which are short, heavily criterion-referenced and routinely underprepared. Higher Level adds quantitative work that catches students who chose the subject expecting an essay course. A JLT cohort with parents working in DMCC asks for this subject more each year.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tool application under time pressure, and the written project at Higher Level. Marks are lost by describing a business rather than analysing it, which is a habit of writing, not a gap in knowledge, and responds to a handful of sessions on structure faster than to content revision.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The unseen analysis paper and the oral, where students lose marks for summarising a text instead of arguing about how it works. For the many JLT students who speak English as an additional language at home, the fix is usually a framework for analysis rather than more reading.

Arabic and UAE Social Studies support

School-mandated streams

KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools whatever curriculum they are licensed for, with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students. Non-Arab families in JLT often need help here precisely because it sits outside the IB subject list they were planning for.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes, chosen by what the calendar is doing and by what the family can afford to sustain. The first is a standing commitment, the second has an end date written into it, and the third is bought against a marked script rather than against a worry.

One standing slot, one subject

A fixed 60-minute session each week on a single subject at a named level, in the same slot so the family stops renegotiating it every Sunday. This is the sensible default for a Higher Level subject across a term and the cheapest per mark over two years, because the diagnosis happens early enough to act on.

  • Same hour every week, set around the real return commute to JLT
  • One subject, one level, one named specialist
  • Marking done between sessions, so the hour is spent teaching
  • Review at week six against the script from the trial lesson

A six-week component block

A fixed number of sessions aimed at one named thing: the non-calculator paper, organic mechanisms, economics diagrams, the written half of a physics paper. It ends when the block ends, which is the point. Blocks are how a family buys a repair without acquiring a permanent line in the monthly budget.

  • A named component and a stated finish date
  • Written diagnosis at the start and a second one at the end
  • Priced as a block, so the total is known before it begins
  • Repeatable later for a different component, with a gap in between

Exam-term intensive from a marked script

Short, frequent sessions in the final stretch, built from a real marked paper rather than a syllabus list. This is the most expensive hour in the year and the least able to rebuild a topic from nothing, so we say plainly what it can and cannot do before a family commits the budget to it.

  • Starts from a script the student has already lost marks on
  • Two or three shorter sessions a week, not one long one
  • Timed practice under exam conditions between sessions
  • An explicit statement of what six weeks cannot fix

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in JLT

01

What a 20-minute radius from a JLT address actually contains

JLT is a residential district of towers built around four man-made lakes, bounded by Sheikh Zayed Road and holding the DMCC free zone in its middle. It has nurseries and no secondary school. Every school-age child here travels out, and a tutor who drives in is making the same journey in reverse at the same hour, which is the hour the roads around the interchange are at their worst.

That matters to the invoice, because travel is billed whether or not it appears as a line item. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table puts in-home one-to-one work at AED 180 to 350 an hour, and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500, against AED 45 to 65 for budget online tuition at EdFlik and from AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya. The academic difference between those bands is real but it does not account for the whole spread. A large part of it is the car, the visitor parking at a tower, and the two hours a travelling tutor cannot sell to anybody else.

The table below is the version of the JLT map that still has consequences. It records what a family here can actually reach on a weekday evening, what is there for a Diploma student when they arrive, and what the round trip takes out of the usable part of the evening.

Read it the other way round as well. A tutor willing to serve JLT inside twenty minutes is drawing on the same few communities, which is exactly why a proximity search returns centres in Al Barsha and generalists in Marina rather than a Higher Level Chemistry teacher. The pool is set by the road network, not by the subject. Online delivery is the one change that detaches those two things from each other.

What the hour contains at each published price point

Three of the six pages ranking for these searches publish no hourly figure at all, and the two that do quote US dollars, a currency no UAE family transacts in. One of them asks the price question in its own FAQ and declines to answer it. That is the market a JLT parent is trying to compare, and it is why the same service appears to cost AED 45 and AED 650 in the same week.

The bands are not arbitrary once you ask what each hour contains. At the bottom of the market the hour is a person working through the textbook with your child, which is genuinely useful for primary consolidation and almost never useful for a Higher Level component. In the middle the hour is a qualified subject teacher who knows the specification, and the open question is whether marking is inside the fee or outside it. At the top the hour is level-specific teaching with a marked script attached, and the premium above that is paying for a name.

The table sets out the published bands with the provider who publishes each one, read in October 2026. These are other providers' figures, quoted so a JLT family can see where a quote sits rather than guess. The column that matters most is the one listing what the hour does not include, because that is where an apparently cheap rate becomes expensive.

IB Gram does not print a single hourly number on this page, and the reason is honest rather than coy: the answer depends on the subject, the level and whether marking and written feedback sit inside the session fee. What we do publish is the market we sit inside, with a source and a date against every figure, and a free trial lesson that happens before any payment is discussed at all.

03

Four places a JLT tutoring budget leaks

  • Name the component, not the subject, before agreeing any hourly rate
  • Ask whether marking and written feedback sit inside the fee or outside it
  • Write the level into the arrangement, in words, at the start
  • Spread spend across DP1 and DP2 rather than banking it for the final weeks
  • Buy measurement and uncertainty once, across all three sciences

The first leak is buying hours instead of a component. A family worried about maths books a weekly hour, the tutor works through whatever came home that week, and twelve months later the report says the same thing it said before. Nothing was diagnosed, so nothing changed. The cure costs nothing: name the subject, the level, the paper and the question type before you agree a rate, and ask what will arrive in writing after the session.

The second is the travel premium. On the published bands, moving the same teaching from a screen into a JLT apartment adds meaningfully to the hour, and the addition is the Sheikh Zayed Road crossing rather than anything academic. Families who want a person in the room should buy that deliberately and know what it costs. Families who assumed the premium bought better teaching are paying for a commute they could have kept.

The third is level drift. Standard Level and Higher Level are different products with different supply, and a tutor priced at the Standard Level end of the market is usually priced there for a reason. The reverse happens too: a Standard Level student put in front of a Higher Level specialist for a year is paying for depth the examination will never ask about. Both are expensive and both are avoided by writing the level into the arrangement.

The fourth is timing, and it is the costliest. Spend concentrated into the six weeks before papers buys the most expensive hours in the calendar at the moment they can do least, because six weeks cannot rebuild a topic nobody learned in DP1. The same money spread as a short block in DP1 term two, a fortnightly slot through DP2, and a tight intensive at the end does more and usually totals less. A fifth leak worth naming: paying twice for uncertainty, significant figures and graph linearisation, which are marked in physics, chemistry and biology alike and only need teaching once.

04

One illustrative budget, spent three ways

Arithmetic makes the argument better than adjectives, so the table below takes a single illustrative figure and spends it differently. It is a worked example built from the published market bands above, not a price list and not a quote. The point is not the total; it is that the same money produces entirely different outcomes depending on what it is pointed at and when it is spent.

What the comparison shows is that cheap hours bought without a diagnosis are the worst value in the table, and that the most expensive single pattern is good teaching bought too late. The pattern that works is unglamorous: a small number of hours aimed at a named component early, then a maintained rhythm, then a short intensive built on a marked script. It also happens to be the pattern least likely to be sold to you, because it bills fewer hours.

Two practical notes on reading it. First, every figure in the second column comes from the published bands in the previous section, so a family can substitute the rate they have actually been quoted and redo the sum in a minute. Second, the fourth column is the part worth arguing about at the kitchen table, because every one of those failures is a thing a JLT family we have spoken to has described after the fact.

The last row is the one we would recommend to most Diploma families here, and it is deliberately the least tidy. It mixes a fortnightly rhythm with a short criterion-referenced block on the internal assessment, which means the family has to hold a schedule through the weeks when school pressure spikes. That is the real cost of the best-value pattern, and it is worth knowing before you pick it.

The permit question, and why the teacher two towers away is the wrong hire

  • Ask any tutor for their MoHRE private tuition work permit reference
  • The permit is free and valid for two years, so cost is never a reason not to hold one
  • No published fine schedule exists, so treat any quoted amount as unverified
  • A centre with premises in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a different thing
  • Your child's own school teacher is usually the arrangement to avoid, not the shortcut

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated, and a JLT family can check the position in a few minutes. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. The eligible categories are wide: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service listing for it is Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, which shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the ministry's smart app, website and e-services system.

Two things follow for a parent. The permit is free, so a tutor who tells you the paperwork is expensive is telling you something else. And individuals providing private tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No schedule of fine amounts has been published, so any specific figure quoted at you, including the one that circulates on forums, is not something anybody can evidence.

The second part is the one that surprises JLT families most. The permit carries a code of conduct that bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff are reported to prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the teacher's own school. So the convenient option, your child's own subject teacher who lives three towers over, is often the one arrangement that should not be made. Treat the ADEK wording as press-reported and check the current policy document before relying on the detail.

A separate licence governs anyone running a tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai: KHDA issues an Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram does not hold that permit, does not operate premises in the UAE, and claims no endorsement from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB or any examination board. A provider that implies otherwise is making the single most dangerous claim available in this market.

06

What JLT households ask for, and the honest answer on availability

No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit, which is a strange silence given that every agency has one. Ours is specific: supply is good across the Diploma sciences, both mathematics routes, economics and English, and genuinely thin in a handful of places. Saying so costs us a few enquiries and saves families the version where a weak match is dressed up as a specialist and discovered in week three.

The table below pairs the subjects JLT families ask about with the moment in the Diploma they usually ask, the realistic time to a named match, and what happens when nobody suitable is free. The second column is more useful than it looks: a request made in DP1 term two gets a better answer than the same request made in March, because the specialists are not yet committed.

The fallback column is where most providers would write something comfortable. We will offer a named waiting date rather than a substitute, or a teacher whose depth is at a different level with that stated in writing, or a specialist outside the Gulf time zone with the clock difference agreed before anything is booked. Where the honest answer is no, it is no, and the reason is given.

One recurring request deserves its own line. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with separate classes organised for Arab and non-Arab students and specified languages of instruction for each. Non-Arab families in JLT frequently need help in exactly the subject nobody planned for, and this is the thinnest part of any tutoring pool in Dubai, ours included.

07

The Dubai market numbers worth putting next to a tutoring budget

Tutoring spend is a decision made inside a household budget that already contains school fees, and in Dubai that budget changed this year. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under the second Dubai economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. For a JLT family, the practical effect is that the largest education line is flat, which is the year to make a tutoring decision properly rather than reactively.

The supply side moved as well. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four on UK curricula and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places; six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. More Diploma places within reach of JLT is good news for choice and a complication for tutoring, because transfer students arrive mid-course from other systems and need transition support rather than general tuition.

The scale figures are worth holding too. The Dubai Media Office reported 227 private schools serving 387,441 pupils in 2024-25 across 17 different curricula, with UK curricula at 37% of enrolment, Indian at 26%, US at 14% and the International Baccalaureate at 7%. That last number is the whole reason a proximity search disappoints a Diploma family: most of the schools near you, and therefore most of the tutoring market near you, are not teaching your child's programme.

The table collects the figures with their sources, because a number without a provenance is worth nothing in a budgeting conversation. Each row also says what it changes about a JLT tutoring plan, which is the only reason to put market statistics on a tutoring page at all.

Starting from a JLT address: the five lines we need

The fastest route out of a proximity search is to stop describing the problem and start naming it. Five lines do more than a long conversation about how your child is finding school: the subject, the level, the component losing marks, the date of the next assessment that actually counts, and the hour your child is genuinely home in JLT and still able to think. With those five we can check real availability in that exact subject and level before anybody promises you anything.

What comes back is a named specialist, a stated match time and a free trial lesson with no card details taken. The trial produces a written diagnosis: what the marked work shows, which topics are costing marks, and what a realistic sequence looks like between now and the assessment you named. That diagnosis is yours whether or not you continue, which is the only version of a free trial that means anything.

If nobody suitable is free, you get told that instead of being matched sideways. The options are a named date to wait for, a teacher with depth at a different level with the compromise written down, or a specialist outside the Gulf time zone with the clock difference agreed first. We would rather lose the booking than take money for a match we know is wrong, because the alternative is discovered in week three and costs the family the whole block.

Two last practical points for a tower household. Sessions are online, so they survive a move between clusters, a move out of JLT, and the summer the family spends elsewhere. And they can be rescheduled around Ramadan into post-Iftar slots, around prayer times, and around the study-leave weeks when school stops running a normal timetable. None of that requires renegotiating with the traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, which is the quiet advantage of having bought the teaching rather than the journey.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around JLT

Proximity in JLT decides the clock, not the teacher. The notes below record what each neighbouring area does to a school evening and what a local search returns there, which is the part of the Dubai map that still has consequences once lessons run over video.

Dubai Marina and JBR

Ten to twenty minutes across Sheikh Zayed Road, and the densest supply of tuition centres and freelance generalists near JLT. What it does not contain is an IB World School, so a search that points here returns availability rather than Diploma expertise.

The Greens and The Views

The easiest hop from JLT and home to Regent International School, British curriculum through IGCSE. Children on this run are usually back by around 3.30pm, which makes it the one corridor where a 4pm start is comfortable rather than optimistic.

Al Sufouh and Al Barsha

Where most JLT Diploma students actually go to school, and a twenty to thirty-five minute drive each way in the early evening. A visiting tutor serving JLT from here spends more time on the road than in the lesson, and the published in-home bands reflect it.

The Meadows and Emirates Hills

Villa communities with full IB continuum provision, so JLT families often school here while living in a tower. The mismatch between home and school postcode is routine in this part of Dubai and it breaks any tutoring arrangement built around a map.

The Lakes and The Springs

Short hops inland with their own British-curriculum provision. Families here sometimes offer to share a tutor with a JLT household, which halves the hourly rate on paper and in practice halves the attention each child gets in a Higher Level session.

Discovery Gardens and Al Furjan

Ten to twenty minutes south, with substantial primary provision and The Winchester School in Jebel Ali. The lower published rate bands circulate most actively on this corridor, which is why JLT parents hear two very different prices for apparently the same service.

Bluewaters Island and Al Sufouh Gardens

Small residential pockets with no school inside them, in the same position as JLT itself. A proximity search from any of these addresses returns the same handful of Marina providers, which is a useful demonstration of what the map is actually sorting.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in JLT

IB World Schools JLT Diploma families travel to

Students we support from JLT most often attend one of these, and almost always after a bus or car journey of twenty minutes or more. Knowing which one matters for tutoring because the school sets the internal deadline calendar, and a tutor who ignores that calendar will be teaching the wrong topic in the wrong week.

British-curriculum schools on the same JLT bus corridors

Many JLT households have one child in the Diploma and a younger sibling in a British-curriculum school on the same run. That is the household where spending goes wrong most easily, because a single weekly tutor gets bought for two very different assessment systems and serves neither properly.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send the five lines

Subject, level, the component losing marks, the date of the next assessment that counts, and the hour your child is actually home in JLT. Five lines let us check genuine availability in that subject at that level, which is the only honest basis for any promise about timing.

  2. 02

    Get the honest match time

We tell you how long a named specialist in that exact combination will take, including when the answer is a wait rather than a match. In March and April for Higher Level sciences that answer is longer, and you are better off knowing it before you plan the term.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson, no card details

A full session with the named specialist, built around a marked script if you have one. Nothing is charged and no payment method is collected beforehand, so the decision after the trial is made on the teaching rather than on a cancellation window.

  4. 04

    Read the written diagnosis

After the trial you receive a written account of what the work shows, which topics are costing marks and what sequence of sessions would address them. It is yours whether or not you continue, and it is the document to take to another provider if you would rather compare.

  5. 05

    Review at week six

Six weeks in, we compare a new piece of marked work against the script from the trial. If the evidence says the arrangement is not working, we say so and change the tutor, the format or the recommendation rather than selling you the next block on the strength of the first.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the component, not the cluster

Higher Level Chemistry means a Higher Level Chemistry teacher, named before you book. Because the lesson runs over video, that match is drawn from the whole pool rather than from the communities inside a twenty-minute drive of JLT, which is precisely where the specialists are not.

Every AED figure carries its source

The rates on this page are other providers' published numbers with the provider and the October 2026 read date attached. We do not present them as ours, and we do not publish an invented price list. A figure you cannot trace is a figure you cannot use in a budget.

Marking happens between sessions

Scripts are marked outside the paid hour, so the hour is spent teaching rather than reading. Ask any provider whether marking sits inside the fee before you compare rates, because the same number means two different things depending on the answer.

The permit position stated plainly

Tutors working in the UAE need the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and it is free for two years. We say what the rule is, who it excludes, and what we do not hold, including any KHDA Educational Services Permit for premises.

Availability disclosed before payment

Where a subject or level is thin, we say so, give a realistic wait and name the fallback. No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit, and the families who have been matched sideways by somebody else are the ones who ask us about this first.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in JLT: your questions answered

What does an IB tutor near me search actually return from a JLT address?+

It returns providers whose published address or claimed service area sits near your tower, which is a different thing from Diploma expertise. JLT has no secondary school of its own, so the nearest results are tuition centres in Al Barsha and Dubai Marina and freelancers advertising a driving radius. Dubai has 227 private schools across 17 curricula and the International Baccalaureate accounts for 7% of enrolment, so most of the market within twenty minutes of JLT is not teaching your child's programme at all. Sorting by distance surfaces availability, not the person who teaches your component.

How much do Dubai providers publish per hour for IB tuition right now?+

Figures read in October 2026 run from AED 45 to 65 an hour at EdFlik and from AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya at the budget end, AED 200 an hour for IB at Unitors in the middle, AED 270 at TutorChase, and AED 650 at BartyED at the premium end. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table puts specialist IB, IGCSE and A Level work at AED 200 to 450 and in-home visits at AED 180 to 350. Those are other providers' published numbers, not IB Gram's prices. Our own figure depends on subject, level and whether marking is included.

Is a visiting tutor or an online specialist cheaper for a tower in JLT?+

On the published bands, the same teaching delivered in a JLT apartment costs materially more than the same teaching delivered over video, and the difference is travel rather than quality. Bestimate puts in-home work at AED 180 to 350 against AED 45 to 150 for budget online tuition. There is a second cost that never appears on an invoice: a visiting tutor serving JLT from Al Barsha spends 60 to 70 minutes on the round trip, which limits how many evenings they can offer and which slots you can have. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE.

What is the most common way a JLT family wastes tutoring money?+

Buying hours instead of naming a component. A parent worried about maths books a weekly session, the tutor works through whatever came home that week, and a year later the school report says what it said before. Nothing was diagnosed, so nothing changed, and the spend repeats. The fix costs nothing at all: write down the subject, the level, the paper and the question type that is losing marks before you agree a rate, and ask what will arrive in writing after each session. A provider who cannot answer that is selling hours rather than teaching.

Is marking between sessions charged separately?+

It depends entirely on the provider, and it is the question that makes two identical hourly rates mean different things. In our arrangement, scripts are marked outside the paid hour so the session is spent teaching rather than reading. Elsewhere, marking is either billed on top or quietly not done, which is why a mid-band quote can turn out to include less than a higher one. Ask the question in exactly these words before comparing numbers: is marking of my child's work included in the hourly rate, and what do I receive in writing afterwards?

How many sessions a week should a Diploma student in JLT start with?+

One a week on one subject at a named level, for most families, for the first six weeks. One session is enough to produce a diagnosis and a rhythm, and six weeks is long enough to test whether the arrangement is working against a real piece of marked work. Starting with two or three subjects at once makes it impossible to tell which change produced which result, and it commits a budget before anything has been learned about the match. Scale up after the week-six review, and only in the subject where the evidence says the hours are converting.

Does a tutor need a UAE permit to teach our child privately in JLT?+

Yes. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service listing is Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with a two-working-day completion time through the ministry's app and website. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no schedule of amounts has been published, so treat any specific figure as unverified.

Is hiring a teacher from my child's own school the cheap option?+

It is usually the arrangement to avoid rather than the shortcut. The MoHRE permit's code of conduct bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff are reported to prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled where the teacher works. Treat the ADEK wording as press-reported and check the current policy. Beyond the rules, there is a practical problem: the person who set the assessment cannot give you an independent reading of why your child lost marks on it.

What time can a session start if my child buses back to JLT from Al Barsha?+

Count two numbers before you book anything. The first is when your child is physically home, which the bus route sets and nothing else changes; from the Al Barsha and Al Sufouh schools most JLT families are looking at somewhere between 4pm and 4.45pm. The second is the hour at which a teenager stops absorbing new content, usually between 7.30pm and 8pm. The usable window is often around three hours, and an online session can sit anywhere inside it. A visiting tutor spends a third of that window in the car.

What does the 2026-27 fee decision mean for our tutoring budget?+

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. The practical effect for a JLT household is that the largest education line is flat for a year. That is the year to make a tutoring decision on evidence rather than in a panic, and to spread spend across DP1 and DP2 instead of banking it for the weeks before papers, where it buys the least per dirham.

Which Higher Level subjects take longest to staff for a JLT family?+

Across the Diploma sciences and both mathematics routes, supply is generally good and a named match usually takes about a week in term time. It gets longer through March and April, when specialists are committed to exam-term students. The genuinely thin areas are Arabic as an additional language and UAE Social Studies, which Dubai schools must teach whatever curriculum they are licensed for, and some of the smaller group-six and group-three options. Where we cannot staff something properly we say so and give a reason, rather than offering a near-miss at the full rate.

Where must paid help stop on an Internal Assessment?+

At the point where the work stops being the student's own. A tutor may teach the underlying content, explain what each assessment criterion rewards, discuss whether a research question is viable, ask hard questions about a method, and give feedback on a draft the student wrote. A tutor may not write, rewrite, edit to completion or supply text for any part of it. Some providers in this market sell completed Internal Assessments outright; that is an academic-integrity breach that puts the student's diploma at risk, and it is the clearest line on this page.

Does our child need tutoring to pass Ministry of Education equivalency?+

No, and anybody implying otherwise is making a false-urgency claim about a regulatory process. Equivalency is an administrative assessment of certificates, not of tutoring. For the British track, reporting of the UAE requirements describes five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one A Level at E or two AS Levels at the same grade. Verify the current rules and the IB position on the Ministry's own channels, because no sourced IB points threshold exists to publish.

What happens if no specialist is free in the slot we want?+

You are told, before any money changes hands. The options are a named date to wait for, a teacher whose depth sits at a different level with that compromise written down, or a specialist outside the Gulf time zone with the clock difference agreed first. What we will not do is fill the brief with somebody who does not teach the component, because that gets discovered in week three and costs the family the whole block. No provider in this market publishes a coverage limit, and that silence is worth noticing when you compare.

Is the free trial lesson genuinely free, and what do we get from it?+

It is a full session with the named specialist, no charge and no card details collected beforehand. There is no trial length to run out of and no automatic conversion to a paid plan. What you receive afterwards is a written diagnosis: what the marked work shows, which topics are costing marks, and a realistic sequence between now and the assessment you named. That document is yours whether you continue or not, and you are welcome to take it to another provider and compare what they would do with it.

Can sessions pause during Ramadan or when we travel over the summer?+

Yes to both, and the online format is what makes it straightforward. During Ramadan sessions commonly move to post-Iftar slots, and they can be scheduled around prayer times and the shortened school day. Over the summer, families travelling out of Dubai keep the same tutor and the same subject, with the session time shifted to the new zone rather than the arrangement being abandoned and rebuilt in September. Nothing about this depends on a person being able to reach a JLT address, which is the part of the arrangement that usually breaks in July.
