IB Home Tutor in Nad Al Hamar

Families searching for an IB home tutor in Nad Al Hamar are almost always working to a date: a mock window, an internal assessment deadline, or the May session itself. This page sets out the Diploma two-year timeline counted backwards, so you can see which term the work has to happen in. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home visits are a service we run in India only, and we would rather say so here than later.

IB & IGCSE in Nad Al Hamar

The Diploma is a calendar problem before it is a teaching problem

Most parents who go looking for Diploma support are reacting to something that has already happened: a DP1 report, a failed mock, a coordinator's email about an internal assessment draft. By then the question is not what help is available but how many weeks are left and what can be done in them. The Diploma runs to a fixed two-year shape, and almost everything that determines the final points total is decided earlier than families expect.

Here is the shape. DP1 runs from August to June and ends with a set of internal examinations that most Dubai schools treat as predicted-grade evidence. Somewhere in the spring of DP1, subject teachers set the first internal assessment deadlines, and the Extended Essay supervisor conversations begin. DP2 starts in August with coursework already overdue in at least one subject for most students, runs into a mock window after the winter break, and then into the May session. The last term is almost entirely examination preparation, because by then every piece of coursework has been submitted.

Counted backwards from the May session, the useful windows are these. The last eight weeks are for timed papers and error correction, not for learning content. The autumn of DP2 is the last chance to repair a subject that is genuinely not understood. The spring of DP1 is when internal assessment topics are chosen, and a bad topic chosen then cannot be rescued in DP2 however good the later help is. And the first term of DP1 is where the subject and level choices either hold or begin to fail.

Nad Al Hamar sits on the eastern side of Dubai, between the Ras Al Khor sanctuary, the Dubai-Al Ain Road and the Al Rashidiya and Mirdif residential belt. Children here travel to schools in Dubai Festival City, Mirdif, Al Warqa, Al Qusais and Academic City, which means a school run of twenty to forty minutes and a door time that is rarely before 4pm. A tutoring plan built on a deadline has to survive that, week after week, which is the practical reason the online slot wins over the in-home one.

To be clear about what is on offer: lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, at a fixed weekly hour. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE, because home tutoring is an India-only service for us. What you get instead is a tutor chosen because they have taken students through the specific component you are worried about, which on a Diploma deadline matters more than geography. The rest of this page is the calendar in detail, the market rates with their sources, the word limits on each component, and the line we will not cross on coursework.

At a glance

  • Internal assessments usually carry around 20 per cent of a subject grade and are submitted before the examinations
  • The Extended Essay is capped at 4,000 words and supervised by a school-appointed teacher
  • UAE schools sit the May Diploma session; confirm specific dates with your coordinator, not with a tutoring page
  • A tutor may coach and question a draft; a tutor may not write or supply any part of it
  • Dubai in-home visits are quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online tutor
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Nad Al Hamar families reach Diploma support from three directions, and the calendar looks different from each.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13 · DP1 and DP2

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and creativity, activity and service. Each subject carries an internally assessed component that is marked by the school and moderated by the IB, and in most subjects that component sits around a fifth of the grade. The points total is built across two years rather than earned in one examination fortnight.

Dubai private schools are inspected annually by KHDA on a six-band scale, and the Diploma accounts for a modest share of overall private-school enrolment in the emirate compared with the UK and Indian curricula. For a Nad Al Hamar family, that means Diploma schools are a short list reached by a twenty to forty minute drive, and the internal deadline calendar differs between them by a fortnight or more.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment across eight subject groups, with a Personal Project in MYP 5. The relevant point for a Diploma calendar is that MYP 5 ends with a Personal Project deadline and, in some schools, eAssessment, and a student who has just completed both arrives in DP1 already tired of long-form independent work.

Several schools serving the eastern suburbs run the full continuum, so a Nad Al Hamar student can go from MYP into DP in the same building. That continuity helps, but it also means the first Diploma internal deadline arrives from teachers who already know the student, and the expectations are set accordingly.

TransitionAges 15-16 · The summer between

IGCSE or MYP into DP1

The least-supported point in the whole sequence. A student moving from IGCSE or MYP 5 into DP1 meets a step change in independent work and in the level of justification expected, particularly in mathematics and the sciences. Six to eight weeks of bridging work over the summer is worth more than a term of remediation in the autumn.

Nad Al Hamar families often have a long summer away, which makes the bridging block awkward in person and straightforward on video. A student in another time zone for July can still keep two sessions a week, and that is the single most common use of online delivery we see from this part of Dubai.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Diploma subjects are tutored unevenly, and the pattern is predictable. These are the subjects Nad Al Hamar families ask for most, with the component that usually prompts the call.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The algebraic route, with a non-calculator paper at both levels and an extra investigation paper at Higher Level. The call usually comes after the first DP1 assessment, when the pace of the algebra has outrun a student who was comfortable at IGCSE.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics with technology permitted throughout. The call usually comes later, in DP2, when the Higher Level statistical content turns out to be harder than the course's reputation suggested.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, fields, waves and at Higher Level a heavier mathematical load. Uncertainty treatment and graph linearisation are the components that cost marks in the internal assessment, and both are fixable in a small number of sessions.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry, energetics, equilibrium and organic chemistry, with organic reliably the dividing line between a 5 and a 7 at Higher Level. Data processing in the internal assessment is where otherwise strong students lose a band.

Biology

HL and SL

Volume of content plus command-term precision. Students who revise by rereading rather than by answering past questions hold a lot of knowledge and cannot deploy it, which shows as a gap between classwork and examination marks.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy and evaluation structure decide the essay papers, while Higher Level adds quantitative questions. The internal assessment is a set of commentaries on published articles, and article selection is the step most often rushed.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 unseen analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, plus the individual oral and at Higher Level the essay. The oral is the component students most often leave unprepared, and it is the easiest to rehearse on video.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tool-based analysis and a research project at Higher Level. Students lose marks for describing a business rather than applying a framework to it, which is a writing-structure problem rather than a content one.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core, all students

The essay is capped at 4,000 words with a supervised research process; TOK carries an exhibition and a prescribed-title essay. Both are coached rather than taught, and the boundary on what a tutor may do is tighter here than anywhere else in the Diploma.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a Nad Al Hamar family uses Diploma support, each tied to a different point on the calendar. All are taught over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

Two-year continuity, one subject

A fixed weekly hour from DP1 through to the May session in the subject that most threatens the points total. The advantage is that the tutor sees the internal assessment from topic choice onward and is not meeting it as an emergency in DP2. The cost is spread across two years rather than concentrated in the final term.

  • Same slot each week, kept through both Diploma years
  • Internal assessment supported from topic screening, not from a finished draft
  • A termly review against the predicted grade the school is using
  • Session notes a coordinator could read without surprise

Autumn-of-DP2 repair block

Eight to twelve weeks in the first term of DP2, aimed at a subject that is genuinely not understood rather than merely underperforming. This is the last point in the calendar where content can be rebuilt. After the mock window, the honest work is examination technique on what the student already knows.

  • Diagnostic from the DP1 end-of-year paper before anything is taught
  • Topic sequence set by what the mock will actually test
  • Finishes on a date before the mock window, so the cost is bounded
  • Handover note listing what remains unfixed, if anything does

Final eight weeks before the session

Timed papers, mark-scheme logic and an error log, two or three sessions a week in a single subject or one each across two. No new content unless a specific gap is blocking a paper. This is the mode most families ask for and the one with the narrowest realistic effect, which is worth saying before it is sold.

  • Full papers under timed conditions, marked and returned with reasoning
  • Errors sorted into method, accuracy and command-term failures
  • Oral and presentation components rehearsed on video, which suits them
  • Explicitly not the moment to start a new internal assessment

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Nad Al Hamar

01

What a home tutor means in Dubai, and what we actually do

Home tuition in Dubai is a real market with real prices, and it is worth understanding before deciding against it. An in-home one-to-one visit is quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour once travel is absorbed, with Bestimate's rate table showing AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors asking AED 200 to 500. Monthly in-home packages seen in the market run at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits. A qualified subject tutor teaching online sits lower, at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200.

The difference between those two bands is not teaching quality. It is travel time, the cost of a tutor's unpaid hours in traffic, and the scarcity premium that comes from hiring within a twenty-minute radius. For Nad Al Hamar that radius is the problem rather than the price: this is a residential district on the eastern edge of the city, and the number of resident Diploma specialists in any given subject at any given level is small, and in a minority subject it may be zero on any given evening. A family insisting on a local visit is choosing from a short list that has nothing to do with the subject.

IB Gram's position is plain. We do not offer home visits in Dubai, or in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or anywhere else in the UAE. Home tutoring is a service we provide in India only. Every lesson for a Nad Al Hamar family is one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, at a slot fixed with the school run in mind. If what you need is genuinely an adult in the room, the right answer is an independently hired local tutor holding a MoHRE private tuition work permit, and there is no reason not to say so.

What the online model buys, specifically, is the ability to pick a tutor because they have taken four students through a Chemistry internal assessment rather than because they live in Mirdif. On a two-year qualification with twenty per cent of each subject grade sitting in coursework, that is the variable with leverage.

The Diploma two years, counted backwards from the May session

Work from the session, not from today. The May session is the fixed point UAE schools sit, and everything else is a consequence of it. The final eight to ten weeks before it are examination weeks in practice: timed papers, mark-scheme work, error correction. Content learned in that window rarely survives into a paper. Anything that has to be understood from scratch needs to be done in the autumn term of DP2 at the latest.

Before the autumn of DP2 come the internal assessment deadlines, and these are the part families consistently underestimate. Schools set internal dates well ahead of the IB upload windows, because teachers need time to mark and moderate. In practice this means most Diploma coursework in most subjects is submitted during DP2's first two terms, and the topics were chosen in DP1. A student who arrives in DP2 with no internal assessment drafts has a problem that no amount of weekly tutoring in the spring will solve.

Before that again is the spring of DP1, which is the single highest-leverage window in the whole two years and the one nobody books. Internal assessment topics are chosen here. An Extended Essay research question is settled here. A student who commits to a thin topic in April of DP1 has set a mark ceiling that remains in place through everything that follows, and the help needed to avoid that is an hour of screening, not a term of teaching.

The table below is the shape rather than a set of dates, deliberately. Specific IB session and results dates are not published on this page, because IB dates are revised and we have not verified them against the IB directly. Your child's coordinator has the current internal calendar and the IB publishes the official dates on ibo.org. For the IGCSE year below, Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit the June and November series and Pearson Edexcel runs May and June and November.

03

The internal assessment pile-up, and the word limits nobody prints

Every Diploma subject carries an internally assessed component, and they are not spread evenly through the year. Because schools set internal deadlines to allow marking and moderation time, three or four of them tend to land within the same six-week stretch of DP2, usually alongside the mock window. A student who has managed each one individually finds the cluster unmanageable, and this is the most common reason a capable Diploma candidate loses points across several subjects at once.

The limits themselves are worth having in one place, because students routinely write to the wrong length. The Extended Essay is capped at 4,000 words. The mathematics exploration runs to roughly twelve to twenty pages. Science internal assessments are capped at a word count in the low thousands. The Theory of Knowledge essay has its own prescribed-title limit and the exhibition a separate commentary limit. Writing substantially over a limit does not earn more credit; markers stop reading at the limit, and the work that mattered may sit beyond it.

What tutoring can genuinely do about the pile-up is sequencing. Looking at a student's actual internal deadlines in September of DP2 and deciding the order in which to attack them, with the one carrying the most marks and the least progress first, is an hour of planning that saves weeks. The second thing is topic screening, done early: a topic that cannot sustain the required depth should be rejected in DP1, not discovered in November of DP2.

The boundary matters most here, so it is stated plainly. A tutor may explain the assessment criteria, show a worked example on a completely different topic, read your child's own draft and respond with questions, and point out where the work falls short of the level claimed. A tutor may not choose the topic, supply the content, write or rewrite any passage, or edit a draft into shape. IB academic-honesty rules make the candidate responsible, and a malpractice finding falls on the student.

The eight-week block, and what it can honestly achieve

  • Eight weeks moves technique and accuracy, not core content
  • Open the block with a timed paper, not with a syllabus review
  • Sort errors into method, misapplication, accuracy and misreading; treat each differently
  • Work paper by paper in the final weeks, because that is what is being sat
  • Frequent short sessions beat long ones once revision is the whole task

The most common request a platform in this market receives is for intensive help in the final weeks, and the most common failure is pretending that window does more than it does. Eight weeks of good work before a session can move examination technique substantially: pacing, command-term handling, showing method, choosing which questions to attempt first, and eliminating the accuracy errors that cost single marks across a whole paper. Those gains are real and sometimes large.

What eight weeks cannot do is replace two years of content. A Higher Level student who has not understood a core topic will not acquire it alongside revision in every other subject. Promising otherwise is how families end up spending heavily in the final term for a small return, and it is the specific thing a parent should be sceptical of when a provider quotes a block of twenty sessions in April.

Used properly, the block looks like this. It opens with a full past paper under timed conditions, marked honestly, with the errors sorted into four buckets: method not known, method known but misapplied, accuracy, and question misread. Those four need different responses, and most students are losing most of their marks in the last three. Sessions then work paper by paper rather than topic by topic, because the paper is the thing being sat.

For a Nad Al Hamar family the practical point is scheduling. In the final weeks most students want more frequent, shorter sessions, and an evening slot plus a weekend morning works better than two long weeknight sessions. Online delivery makes that pattern possible without anyone making four journeys a week across the eastern corridor.

05

The Nad Al Hamar school run and the slot that survives it

A Diploma plan tied to a deadline only works if the weekly session actually happens, and in this part of Dubai the obstacle is the journey rather than the willingness. Nad Al Hamar children travel out to Dubai Festival City, Mirdif, Al Warqa, Al Qusais or Academic City. A fifteen-minute run to Festival City becomes twenty-five at pickup. A Mirdif run is twenty off-peak and thirty-five at 3pm. Academic City is longer still. Door times land between 3.50pm and 4.30pm on an ordinary day and after 5pm on an activity day.

Diploma students then have a heavy evening. Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus whatever coursework is live. A session placed at 4.30pm catches a student who has just walked in. One placed at 8.30pm catches one who has finished thinking. The slot that works across a whole term is 6pm to 7.30pm, and in the eastern suburbs that is exactly the window an in-home tutor cannot promise without a travel buffer, because they are crossing the same roads your child just came home on.

Two practical notes. First, Diploma sessions benefit from being ninety minutes rather than sixty once coursework is live, because reading a draft and discussing it does not fit into an hour. Second, in the final revision block the pattern should change: shorter, more frequent, and with a weekend morning in it, since timed paper work plus review needs a clear two hours that a weeknight does not have.

Ramadan reshapes all of this for a month. School days shorten, door times come forward, and households split between an early-afternoon slot and a post-Iftar one. Both work on video. What does not work is pretending the month will run normally, so a DP2 revision plan should front-load the weeks before it rather than assume them.

What a two-year plan costs, and where the money is wasted

Set the sums out across two years rather than per hour, because that is how a Diploma plan is actually bought. One weekly session in one subject at the qualified-online band of AED 150 to 300 an hour runs to something in the region of AED 600 to 1,200 a month on Bestimate's monthly estimates, with their specialist examination-year band at AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more. Over two academic years in a single subject that is a substantial commitment, and it is worth deciding deliberately rather than drifting into it.

The commonest waste is buying hours in the wrong term. Twenty sessions in April of DP2 cost the same as twenty spread across DP1 and achieve less, because the April sessions arrive after the coursework is submitted and after the content window has closed. The second commonest waste is buying three subjects at once when one subject is dragging the points total and the other two are fine; a parent who cannot say which subject is the problem should pay for a diagnostic rather than a programme.

The third is paying a specialist premium for work a generalist can do. Timed-paper drilling and accuracy routines do not require an examination-band tutor at AED 400 an hour. Topic screening for a Higher Level internal assessment does. Matching the tier of tutor to the task, rather than buying the top tier for everything, is the single biggest saving available, and no agency will volunteer it.

For household context, KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's AED 1.5 billion second economic incentives package. School fees are flat and tutoring is the variable line. Every AED figure on this page is a market figure published by the provider named, read in October 2026; IB Gram quotes its own rate after the trial, which is forty-five minutes, free, and takes no card details.

Academic honesty on coursework, stated once and clearly

At least one site ranking for these searches sells completed Internal Assessments outright. Since the consequence of buying one lands on the student rather than the seller, the line is worth drawing precisely. Under IB rules all coursework must be the candidate's own work, the school attests to that, and a malpractice finding can cost a candidate the diploma. There is no grade worth that risk, and there is no version of this service that includes it.

A tutor may teach the subject content a student needs in order to attempt a piece of work. A tutor may explain each assessment criterion, how the marks are distributed and what the descriptors actually reward. A tutor may demonstrate a complete worked example built on an entirely different topic. A tutor may read the student's own draft and respond with questions about assumptions, evidence, structure and whether the analysis reaches the level claimed. A tutor may say plainly that a section is below standard and explain why.

A tutor may not select the topic, supply the content or the data, write or rewrite any passage, edit the draft into shape, or produce material the student then submits. The same applies to the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and the MYP Personal Project. We also do not host or supply syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables; those belong to the IB and the examination boards, and your child's school has proper access to them.

The useful consequence of working this way is that the student can defend their own work. A candidate who can explain every line of their internal assessment in conversation with their coordinator has nothing to worry about. One who cannot is exposed regardless of the mark the work would otherwise have attracted.

08

Availability, fallback and the questions worth asking us

Coverage is the thing platforms in this market conceal, so here is the honest shape of it. Common Diploma subjects at Standard Level in mid-evening slots are generally available at short notice. Higher Level specialists in the sciences, and tutors with real experience of a specific internal assessment component, are a narrower pool, and in the eight to twelve weeks before the May session that pool is at its tightest. If nobody suitable is free at your preferred hour, we will say so rather than filling the slot.

The fallback options are limited and worth stating: the nearest available slot with the right specialist, a different tutor with the right subject at a different level of seniority, or a date when the specialist opens up. What we will not do is put a tutor with no experience of the component in front of a student three weeks from a coursework deadline, because the parent cannot see the difference until it is too late to correct.

Questions worth putting to us, or to any provider. Which specific subject and level have you taught, and for how many cohorts. Have you taken a student through this exact internal assessment component. What will you not do with my child's coursework. What happens if the match is wrong after two sessions. Do you hold a MoHRE private tuition work permit, and may I see it. What is the rate, in AED, per hour, including or excluding anything else.

And one question to ask us that we will answer in the negative: will a tutor come to our home in Nad Al Hamar. No. IB Gram delivers one-to-one teaching over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and home visits are an India-only service. If an adult in the room is the requirement, hire locally, check the permit, and use the rate bands on this page to judge whether you are being quoted fairly.

Nearby areas we cover around Nad Al Hamar

Nad Al Hamar is a residential district rather than a school district, and the eastern suburbs around it determine what a weeknight looks like.

Nad Al Hamar

Villas and low-rise apartments between the Ras Al Khor sanctuary and the Dubai-Al Ain Road, with Nad Al Hamar Road as the spine. Quiet in the evening and well placed for the Festival City and Mirdif school runs, with no Diploma school inside the district itself.

Al Rashidiya

Immediately north, with the airport road traffic shaping the afternoon. Several Nad Al Hamar families use the same bus routes as Al Rashidiya, which adds a stop and ten minutes to the journey home.

Mirdif

The main school destination to the east, including schools running the IB continuum. A twenty-minute drive off-peak and closer to thirty-five at 3pm, which is the difference between a 5.30pm and a 6.30pm session.

Dubai Festival City

Holds two of the larger international schools used by this part of Dubai. The exit onto Ras Al Khor Road at pickup time is the slow point, and parents here plan evening commitments around it.

Al Warqa

South-east, with large Indian and British curriculum schools. Relevant because mock timetables in the Al Warqa schools often sit a fortnight apart from the Festival City ones, so sibling revision plans do not line up.

Al Khawaneej and Al Mizhar

Further out, villa communities with long internal roads. A Nad Al Hamar student attending school here has a predictable but late arrival, which pushes the usable session to 6.30pm or 7pm.

Academic City and Dubai Silicon Oasis

South along the Dubai-Al Ain Road, with senior schools and university campuses. A longer run that puts door time after 4.15pm, and the reason some families here moved Diploma support to video in the first place.

International City and Ras Al Khor

The industrial and mixed-use edge of the eastern corridor. Included to show that a search sorted by distance from Nad Al Hamar returns a list ordered by the one variable that stops mattering once lessons are on screen.

The nearest cluster of international schools to Nad Al Hamar, reached by Ras Al Khor Road in fifteen to twenty-five minutes. Diploma internal deadlines at these schools tend to fall early in the spring of DP1, so topic selection work has to start before the second term ends.

  • Deira International School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Dubai English Speaking College
  • The Millennium School Dubai

Mirdif, Al Mizhar and Al Warqa

The eastern suburb cluster, including schools running the IB continuum from the primary years upward. Mock windows here typically sit in the two or three weeks after the winter break, which sets the real deadline for any DP2 repair work.

  • Uptown International School
  • Star International School Mirdif
  • GEMS Royal Dubai School
  • Al Mizhar American Academy
  • GEMS Our Own English High School

Schools are named to describe the local education context only. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school, school group or regulator named here.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Give us the deadline, not just the subject

The mock window, the internal assessment date your school has set, or the session. A plan built backwards from a real date looks different from one built forwards from today, and the date is the piece of information most parents leave out of the first message.

  2. 02

We look at what term you are actually in

DP1 autumn, DP1 spring, the summer between, DP2 autumn or the final block. Each one supports different work, and we will tell you if what you are asking for belongs to a window that has already closed.

  3. 03

Trial lesson, forty-five minutes, live online

A real session on the thing that is wrong, with no card details collected. For a coursework problem the tutor reads what exists; for a content problem they set a diagnostic question and watch how your child works through it.

  4. 04

A written plan with a date on it

What will be covered, in what order, and what should be finished by when. For a deadline-driven request the plan ends on the deadline rather than running indefinitely, and the total number of sessions is stated at the start.

  5. 05

Review against the plan, not against a feeling

At four weeks we check the named measure: marks on a paper, a draft completed, an error count. If it has not moved, the method changes or the tutor does, and that happens at four weeks rather than in the final term.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The calendar drives the plan

Diploma support bought in the wrong term is money spent for a small return. We will say which window you are in and what it can realistically achieve, including when the answer is that a particular opportunity has passed.

Online, and said so on the page

Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Knowing the delivery model before booking is worth more than discovering it afterwards.

Component experience, not just subject experience

Twenty per cent of most Diploma subject grades sits in coursework. A tutor who has taken students through that exact component is a different proposition from one who merely teaches the subject, and we match on the former.

A hard boundary on assessed work

Teaching, criteria explanation, worked examples on other topics and questions on your child's own draft. Never writing, supplying content or editing to completion. The boundary protects the candidate, who is the person a malpractice finding falls on.

Rates with the source attached

Every AED band here was published by the provider named and read in October 2026. Three of six ranking pages in this market publish no price at all, and two of the three that do quote in US dollars rather than dirhams.

Coverage limits disclosed

Higher Level science specialists and specific coursework experience are scarce in the weeks before a session, and we will tell you that instead of filling the slot with whoever is free. A platform that never admits a limit has not described what it sells.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Nad Al Hamar: your questions answered

Do IB tutors come to homes in Nad Al Hamar?+

Not ours. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and home visits are a service we run in India only, not in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE. The in-home market here is real, with visits quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour once travel is absorbed, so if an adult in the room is your requirement you can hire independently and should ask to see the tutor's MoHRE private tuition work permit. What we offer instead is a tutor matched by subject, level and coursework component rather than by postcode.

How far ahead of the May session should we start Diploma tutoring?+

Earlier than most families do. The final eight to ten weeks move technique, pacing and accuracy, which is worth having but will not replace content. The autumn term of DP2 is the last window in which a misunderstood topic can genuinely be rebuilt. The spring of DP1 is the highest-leverage point of all, because that is when internal assessment topics are chosen and a thin topic sets a ceiling nothing later can lift. If you are reading this in DP1, the useful move is a few hours of topic screening.

Which Diploma deadlines actually matter in DP2?+

Your school's internal dates, not the IB's upload windows. Schools set earlier deadlines so teachers can mark and moderate, and three or four subjects often land within the same six-week stretch, usually overlapping the mock window. That cluster, rather than any single component, is what sinks capable candidates. An hour spent in September of DP2 sequencing the internal deadlines by marks at stake and progress made is worth several weeks of unplanned work later. Your coordinator holds the current internal calendar.

Where exactly does Extended Essay coaching stop being allowed?+

Yes, within a boundary we will state to your child in the first session. A tutor can help frame a research question, discuss whether sources are adequate, explain how the criteria distribute marks, and read the student's own draft and respond with questions about argument and evidence. A tutor cannot choose the topic, supply the content, write or rewrite a passage, or edit the essay into shape. The essay is capped at 4,000 words and must be the candidate's own work; a malpractice finding falls on the student, not the tutor.

What does a two-year Diploma tutoring plan cost in Dubai?+

Using market figures rather than ours: a weekly one-hour arrangement at the mid band is estimated by Bestimate at roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month, with their specialist examination-year band at AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more. A qualified subject tutor online is quoted at AED 150 to 300 an hour, and Unitors publishes IB from AED 200. Across two years in one subject that is a serious commitment, which is why it is worth buying the terms with leverage rather than a continuous subscription. We quote our own rate after a free trial.

Is the final term too late to make any difference?+

No, but be clear about what changes. In the last eight weeks you can fix pacing, command-term handling, showing of method, question selection and the accuracy errors that cost single marks across a whole paper. Those gains are real. What will not happen is the acquisition of a core topic the student never understood, alongside revision in five other subjects. A provider who sells twenty sessions in April on the promise of content recovery is selling something they cannot deliver.

How do we fit Diploma sessions around a Nad Al Hamar school run?+

Work backwards from the door. Festival City runs put a student home around 3.50pm to 4.10pm, Mirdif around 4.00pm to 4.25pm, Academic City after 4.15pm, and activity days after 5pm. Diploma students then have heavy evening work, so the slot that survives a whole term is usually 6pm to 7.30pm, often ninety minutes once coursework is live. Online delivery holds that start time exactly, because nobody is driving back across Ras Al Khor Road at 5.45pm to reach you.

How does the Ramadan timetable change our weekly Diploma slot?+

The month reshapes the day rather than cancelling it. School hours shorten, so door times come forward, and households generally split between an early-afternoon slot and a post-Iftar one. Both work on video, which they would not with a tutor travelling across the eastern suburbs at Iftar. Tell us which pattern you keep and the slot is rebuilt for the month. The planning point for a DP2 student is to front-load revision into the weeks before Ramadan rather than assume those weeks will run at full intensity.

Which schools near Nad Al Hamar run the IB Diploma?+

The nearest clusters are Dubai Festival City and the creek side, including Deira International School and Universal American School Dubai, and the Mirdif and Al Mizhar belt, including Uptown International School. Other schools serving the eastern suburbs take students to IGCSE before an A Level or Diploma split. Dubai had 227 private schools offering 17 curricula in 2024-25, with the International Baccalaureate a modest share of enrolment compared with the UK and Indian curricula. Schools are named as local context only, with no affiliation implied.

My child has three internal assessments due in the same month. What do we do first?+

Sequence them by marks at stake against progress made, not by deadline order. The piece carrying the largest share of a subject grade with the least done on it goes first, even if its date is later, because it has the most recoverable value. Pieces that are nearly finished need an hour of criteria-referenced reading rather than a block of sessions. Then tell each subject teacher the order you have chosen; schools will sometimes move an internal date by a week when a student asks in advance rather than apologises afterwards.

Do you publish the IB exam and results dates for this year?+

No, deliberately. UAE schools sit the May Diploma session, and that is as specific as this page gets, because IB session and results dates are revised and we have not verified them against the IB directly. Your child's IB coordinator holds the confirmed internal and external dates, and ibo.org publishes the official ones. For the IGCSE year below, the position is firmer: Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit the June and November series, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November.

Could a single tutor take on both of our Higher Level subjects at once?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking, but it is less often a good idea than it sounds. A tutor genuinely strong in Physics and Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level exists and is valuable, because the overlap is real. A tutor claiming Chemistry, Economics and English at Higher Level is claiming three specialisms. For a student whose problem is a single weak subject, one specialist beats one generalist. For a student whose problem is organisation across six subjects, a single tutor who sees the whole week can help more.

What should we send you to get a sensible answer quickly?+

Four things. The subjects and levels, written out precisely, including whether mathematics is Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation. The school and the year group. The most recent report or marked assessment, which tells a tutor more in two minutes than a description does in ten. And the date you are working to, whether that is a mock, a coursework deadline or the session. With those four, a useful tutor suggestion takes a day rather than a week of exchanged messages.

How quickly can a Diploma tutor start for a family in Nad Al Hamar?+

For a common Standard Level subject in a mid-evening slot during term time, usually within a few days. For a Higher Level science specialist, or for a tutor with experience of one specific internal assessment component, allow up to a fortnight, and longer in the eight to twelve weeks before the May session when that pool is tightest. If nobody suitable is free at your hour we will tell you, and offer the nearest slot, a different tutor, or a date, rather than filling the gap with whoever is available.

Pick the window first, then the subject, then the tutor

The Diploma rewards families who work backwards. Decide which window you are in, DP1 spring for topic screening, DP2 autumn for rebuilding content, the final block for technique, and buy the work that window can actually carry. Then name the subject and level precisely, and the coursework component if that is the problem. Then book a trial in an evening slot that survives the Nad Al Hamar school run, and judge it on whether the tutor told you something specific. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home tutoring is an India-only service. Last reviewed 22 October 2026.
