IB Home Tutor in Dubai Festival City

Parents searching for an IB home tutor in Dubai Festival City are usually asking a money question first: what does one-to-one Diploma support actually cost, and is the in-home premium worth paying? This page answers that in AED, with every band attributed to its source. IB Gram delivers to Al Badia, Festival Boulevard and Marsa Al Khaimah addresses as live one-to-one video lessons on Gulf Standard Time, which removes the travel fee, the 6pm crawl along Al Rebat Street, and the compromise of hiring whoever happens to live within a twenty-minute drive.

  • Market AED bands published openly, each attributed to its published source
  • Live one-to-one video lessons timed to Gulf Standard Time
  • A free trial lesson runs before any payment is taken
  • Tutors teach and review work; they never write an Internal Assessment

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Festival City

What an IB home tutor in Dubai Festival City really costs, line by line

Start with the cheapest thing on the market and work upwards, because that is the order a budget is actually built in. Published rates in Dubai begin around AED 45 to 65 an hour at EdFlik and AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya, both for online sessions delivered by tutors who are often undergraduates. That tier is real and it has a legitimate use: drilling arithmetic fluency, keeping a Year 8 student on top of homework, rebuilding confidence after a bad term. What it does not reliably do is diagnose why an IB Diploma student is stuck on 4s in Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL, because diagnosing that requires someone who has marked the paper and knows which command term the student is misreading.

The next band up is where most Dubai Festival City Diploma families end up. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts qualified subject specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above. TutorChase quotes AED 270. These are the figures for a person who teaches the syllabus for a living, holds the subject guide in their head, and can tell you in one session whether your child's problem is content, exam technique or time.

Then there is the in-home premium, and this is the number worth staring at. Bestimate records in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. Monthly packages seen in this market run about AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Read those two package prices side by side. The in-home option costs roughly twice as much for half the number of contact points, and the difference is not teaching. It is a car, a driver's hour, and the risk that a Garhoud interchange queue eats the first fifteen minutes of a lesson you paid for.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai; home visits are a service we run only in India. For a Dubai Festival City family the delivery is one-to-one live video, which is why the travel component disappears from the invoice entirely. That is not a cost-cutting dodge dressed up as a feature. It is the mechanism that lets a family living beside Festival City Mall hire a Chemistry HL specialist who knows the data booklet cold, rather than settling for the best generalist within driving distance of Al Badia.

The rest of this page is about where the money leaks. Some of it leaks into travel. Some leaks into sessions booked before anyone has diagnosed the problem, so the first four hours are spent working out what the first hour should have established. Some leaks into paying a specialist rate for work a parent could supervise, and some into paying a cheap rate for work that needed a specialist and then paying again, properly, in March. We will put numbers on each of those, cite them, and be explicit about which figures are the market's and which are ours.

At a glance

  • Online one-to-one removes the travel component from an in-home quote, which the market prices at AED 180 to 500 an hour
  • Monthly packages observed: about AED 799 for eight online sessions, AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions
  • The largest avoidable cost is undiagnosed tuition: hours spent discovering a problem a first session should have named
  • No AED figure on this page is an IB Gram price list; each band is attributed to the provider or survey that published it
  • A free trial lesson exists precisely so that the diagnosis costs nothing before you commit a budget
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Dubai Festival City sits beside one of Dubai's longer-established IB continuum schools, so families here often need support at Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma level inside the same household. The cost structure differs sharply by programme, and knowing which is which stops a parent paying Diploma rates for Middle Years work.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

PYP has no external examinations. Assessment is continuous, built around transdisciplinary units of inquiry and an exhibition in the final year. Tutoring at this level is about literacy and number fluency, reading stamina, and the habit of explaining reasoning aloud, which is the single skill that pays off most when the same child reaches Middle Years criterion-referenced marking.

Dubai Festival City households that plan to stay through secondary school usually keep PYP support light and short: one session a week for a term, aimed at a specific gap. Paying a Diploma specialist rate for Year 4 reading comprehension is one of the clearest money leaks in this market, and the rate difference between tiers is roughly threefold.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP marks each subject against four criteria, A to D, on a 1 to 8 scale, then converts the total to a 1 to 7 grade using published boundaries. Most students lose marks not on content but on the command verbs inside criterion strands, and on investigations where the method is sound and the evaluation is thin.

This is the band where Dubai Festival City parents most often overspend, because MYP reports look alarming without explaining themselves. A single diagnostic session that reads the criterion grid back to you often replaces a term of weekly booking. Where a Personal Project is involved, support is supervision and questioning, never drafting.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Higher Level papers carry more content and, in sciences, a third paper. The Internal Assessment in each subject is marked against lettered criteria by the teacher and moderated by the IB, which is why IA coaching is about process and feedback rather than product.

Diploma support is where a specialist rate is genuinely justified for a Dubai Festival City family. The market band for an IB specialist runs AED 200 to 450 and above, and a two-year plan priced at one session a week is a real commitment. We would rather a family bought fewer, better-targeted hours in the two terms that matter.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

CP combines a career-related study with at least two Diploma courses, a reflective project, personal and professional skills, service learning and language development. It is offered by a small number of UAE schools and suits students who want a vocational spine with IB academic rigour attached to it.

CP students near Dubai Festival City typically need help with their two DP courses and with the reflective project's research method. Because the cohort is small, local tutor supply for CP is thin, which is exactly the scenario where online matching stops being a convenience and starts being the only way to reach a specialist at all.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects Dubai Festival City families ask about most, with what each one actually assesses and where the marks go missing. Rate pressure differs by subject: sciences and Higher Level mathematics sit at the top of the market band because the pool of people who can teach them properly is smaller.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency, calculus and proof. Paper 1 is sat without a calculator, which exposes any student who has been leaning on a graphic display calculator for routine manipulation. Most HL marks are lost in the long structured questions of Paper 2 and in the Paper 3 extended investigation.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-led problem solving, with the calculator permitted throughout. Marks go missing in interpretation: students compute a regression correctly and then say nothing useful about what it means in context, which is where the marks actually sit.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Structure and reactivity across the revised course, assessed by two papers plus the scientific investigation. The data booklet is provided and under-used. Organic mechanisms and the energetics calculations are the two places a Dubai Festival City Chemistry HL student most often stalls.

Physics

HL and SL

Space, time and motion through to nuclear and quantum physics. Paper 1 mixes multiple choice with data analysis; Paper 2 rewards clean algebra and units. Uncertainty and error treatment in the scientific investigation is the most commonly thin section in the whole report.

Biology

HL and SL

Unity and diversity, form and function, interaction and interdependence, continuity and change. Biology punishes vague language more than any other science: a sentence that does not name the structure, the process and the consequence scores zero even when the student understands it.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 guided analysis of unseen non-literary texts, Paper 2 comparative essay, plus the individual oral and, at HL, the essay. Students lose marks by paraphrasing rather than analysing, and by leaving the global issue unnamed in the oral.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy and real-world engagement. The internal assessment is a portfolio of commentaries on published articles, and the single most common failure is a diagram drawn correctly but never referred to in the analysis.

Business Management

HL and SL

Introduction to business management, human resource management, finance and accounts, marketing and operations. Marks are lost in the HL extension questions where students describe a tool instead of applying it to the stimulus organisation in front of them.

Computer Science

HL and SL

System fundamentals, computer organisation, networks and computational thinking, with an internally assessed solution. The write-up, not the code, is where marks are won; a working program with a thin design document scores badly.

Arabic

Language A and Language B

KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students. Diploma Arabic B students near Dubai Festival City often need targeted work on productive writing rather than comprehension.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three delivery shapes cover almost every Dubai Festival City request, and they are priced differently for reasons that are worth understanding before you choose. All are delivered as live one-to-one or small-group video lessons on Gulf Standard Time.

Weekly one-to-one, term-long

One or two sessions a week across a term, aimed at a subject the student is carrying rather than rescuing. This is the shape that most resembles the monthly packages in the market, and the one where the online versus in-home price gap compounds fastest: eight sessions a month against four longer ones for roughly double the money.

  • Best for a Higher Level subject across DP1 and DP2
  • Same tutor, same slot, so the student stops re-explaining themselves
  • Cheapest per contact hour of the three shapes
  • Pausable around mock weeks without losing the slot

Diagnostic block, then decide

Two or three sessions whose only job is to find out what is actually wrong. A parent arrives convinced the problem is calculus and leaves knowing it is algebraic manipulation from Year 10. This is the single cheapest intervention available in this market because it prevents a term of accurately delivered but wrongly aimed tuition.

  • Written summary of the gap, by topic, after the block
  • Often ends with fewer recommended hours, not more
  • Starts with the free trial lesson, so the first hour costs nothing
  • Useful before you commit to any provider, including this one

Pre-session intensive

A compressed run of sessions in the weeks before a Cambridge June or November series, or before the IB May examinations UAE schools sit. Intensity goes up, duration goes down, and the work is almost entirely past-paper technique under timed conditions rather than new content.

  • Timed papers marked against published criteria, then reworked
  • Command-term drills, because misread verbs cost more than gaps
  • Fixed end date, so the budget has a visible floor and ceiling
  • Scheduled around Ramadan timings where the family needs it

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Festival City

01

What IB tuition costs around Dubai Festival City, in AED

  • Monthly estimates for one weekly hour, per Bestimate: AED 240-600 budget, AED 600-1,200 mid, AED 1,000-2,000+ specialist exam-year
  • Packages observed in this market: AED 799 per month for eight online sessions; AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions
  • Ask any provider whether the quoted figure is per hour or per lesson, and whether VAT treatment is stated in writing
  • A rate with no source attached is not a market rate; it is a number

A qualified online IB subject tutor in Dubai is priced by the market at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, and an IB, IGCSE or A-Level specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above. Those two bands come from published provider pages and from Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table, read in October 2026. Nobody ranking for this query publishes them, which is a strange thing for a cost-led search to turn up, and it is the first reason this page exists.

The table below sets out the full ladder, lowest first, with the source for each band. Read it as the market, not as a price list: IB Gram's own commercial terms are set after the free trial lesson and after the diagnostic conversation, because quoting a single hourly number for Primary Years literacy and Chemistry Higher Level would be dishonest in both directions. What the table does is tell you whether a quote you have already received sits inside the market or outside it.

One more thing the ladder reveals. The gap between the budget band and the specialist band is roughly fourfold, but the gap between a good specialist and a premium named tutor at AED 650 is smaller than that, and much harder to justify on results. The money a Dubai Festival City family can most reliably save is not at the top of this table. It is in buying the right number of hours in the right band, and in not paying twice because the first attempt was aimed at the wrong problem.

The in-home premium: what the extra AED actually buys

Take the two package prices side by side, because they are the clearest comparison in the whole market. About AED 799 a month buys eight online sessions. AED 1,599 to 1,799 buys four in-home sessions of two hours each. Same total contact time, roughly double the price. The arithmetic is not subtle, so the question is what the second figure is buying that the first is not.

Three things, honestly. A physical presence, which for some younger students genuinely changes behaviour. A phone that cannot be scrolled under the table. And a parent's own reassurance, which is a real good even if it is not an academic one. Against that, the in-home rate pays for a car, a petrol bill, a driver's unpaid hour and a scheduling fragility that is specific to this corner of Dubai: a tutor coming from Jumeirah to Al Badia at 5.30pm is at the mercy of Garhoud Bridge, and the lesson that starts fifteen minutes late is still a lesson you paid for in full.

The harder cost is invisible on the invoice. An in-home tutor must live within driving distance, so the pool you are choosing from is defined by geography rather than by subject expertise. For Mathematics at Middle Years level that is fine; the eastern suburbs have plenty of capable people. For Chemistry Higher Level, Physics Higher Level or Maths Analysis and Approaches Higher Level, the pool inside a twenty-minute radius of Dubai Festival City is small enough that families routinely compromise on specialism to preserve proximity. That is the trade the table below prices out.

Where the money actually leaks

  • Diagnose before you commit hours; the trial lesson exists for exactly this
  • Ask for the gap in writing, by topic, before agreeing a term-long booking
  • Match the band to the task, not to the anxiety
  • Review the plan at each report cycle and cut hours that are no longer earning
  • Treat any provider unwilling to recommend fewer hours as a sales channel

The biggest single waste in this market is not an overpriced hour. It is a correctly priced hour pointed at the wrong thing. A student is failing Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL Paper 2, so the family books calculus support, and four sessions later the tutor reports that the calculus is fine and the student cannot manipulate algebraic fractions reliably under time pressure. Those four hours were not stolen. They were spent discovering something a diagnostic session should have found in sixty minutes.

The second leak is buying continuity nobody needs. Weekly tuition across two years in a subject the student is coping with is comfortable and expensive. At the specialist band, one weekly hour across a Diploma year is a substantial commitment, and Bestimate's own monthly estimate for an exam-year specialist runs AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above. Some subjects need that. Many need a diagnostic block, a focused run before internal assessment deadlines, and an intensive before the examinations, with nothing in between.

The third leak is paying cheap and then paying properly. A budget-band tutor at AED 45 to 65 an hour is excellent value for the work that band is for. Pointed at a Higher Level science, it produces a term of reassurance and no grade movement, and the specialist is then hired in the final two terms at four times the rate with less time to work in. The honest version of this advice costs us money: if your child needs the budget band, use the budget band, and do not let anyone sell you upwards.

04

The exam calendar, counted backwards from a Dubai Festival City desk

Cost planning only works against a calendar, and this is where almost every competing page goes quiet. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series. The February and March series exists, but it is offered to India only, so no student at Deira International School or Dubai Festival City School will ever sit it. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. Those are the windows a Dubai budget has to fit around.

Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. That is a sentence worth reading twice before you trust any date printed on a tutoring website, including this one. Always open the school's own timetable or the board's live PDF.

For the IB Diploma, UAE schools sit the May examinations. We publish no specific IB session or results date on this page, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and an unverified date on a tutoring page is worse than no date. Your child's IB coordinator holds the real one. What we can plan from are the internal deadlines, which are set by the school and are the ones that actually dictate when tuition money needs to be spent.

Is your tutor legally permitted to teach in the UAE?

  • Permit: MoHRE private tuition work permit, Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, free for two years
  • Ask a prospective tutor directly whether they hold it, and expect a straight answer
  • A permit covers an individual; premises and staff require a KHDA institute permit instead
  • No published fine schedule exists, so treat any quoted penalty figure as unverified

This is a cost question as much as a compliance one, because an unpermitted tutor is a cheap tutor for a reason. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states the permit is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no figure appears here; a number circulating online could not be verified against any ministry source and we will not repeat it. The application route is MoHRE's own service page, Issuance of a New Work Permit for Private Tutor Licensing, which lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Two further points a Dubai Festival City parent should know. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal from an individual tutor and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit as a training institute. IB Gram does not hold one and does not describe itself as KHDA approved, because that phrase means something specific and we are not it. Separately, in Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE code of conduct carries a comparable restriction, so hiring your child's own teacher privately is not a route anyone should market to you.

06

What a tutor may and may not do with an IA or Extended Essay

  • Allowed: content teaching, criteria explanation, feedback on the student's own draft, referencing practice
  • Not allowed: writing, completing, rewriting or supplying any portion of assessed work
  • Useful shape: question-setting early, one feedback pass on a full draft, nothing in between
  • Any provider selling a finished IA is selling your child a malpractice finding

In a market where one competing site sells completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750, a Dubai Festival City parent is entitled to a clear line. A tutor may teach the underlying content, explain the assessment criteria letter by letter, interrogate a research question until it is answerable, model a worked example on a different topic, read a draft and give feedback, and teach referencing. A tutor may not write, draft, edit to completion or supply any part of the work.

The reason is not squeamishness. Internal assessment is marked against lettered criteria by the school's teacher and moderated by the IB, and the student signs that the work is their own. Work that is not theirs is malpractice, and the consequence lands on the student, not on the tutor who took the money. There is no version of that transaction where the family comes out ahead.

This also changes how IA support should be priced and booked. The useful shape is short and front-loaded: one or two sessions at the question-setting stage, where a bad research question is cheap to fix, and one session on a complete first draft. Buying ten hours of IA support usually means buying nine hours of someone watching a student type. Ask any provider to put in writing what they will and will not do with assessed work before money changes hands, and keep the reply.

The same boundary applies to the Extended Essay and to Theory of Knowledge. A supervisor at the school signs off on progress, a tutor can help a student plan a reading list and test whether an argument holds together, and nobody outside the student should be generating sentences. Families who understand this early spend less on coursework support and get more from it, because the hours go into thinking rather than into transcription.

07

Tuition cost in context: Dubai school fees and the KHDA fee freeze

Tutoring is a second education bill arriving on top of a first one, so it belongs next to the first one on the page. Dubai's private school sector served 387,441 pupils across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the UK curriculum taking 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian 26 per cent, US 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate 7 per cent. That last share is the one families in Al Badia and Mirdif live inside, and it is small enough to explain why local Diploma specialists are harder to find than IGCSE ones.

On 22 May 2026, KHDA confirmed there would be no increase in school fees for Dubai private schools for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a total of AED 2.5 billion. For a family doing arithmetic on a tutoring budget, that freeze is the one fixed point in the calculation: the school bill is known, so the tuition decision is about marginal spend rather than about absorbing two rises at once.

Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose six per cent. More Diploma places means more Diploma students needing Higher Level support, and the supply of Higher Level specialists does not grow on the same schedule. That is the structural reason an online match beats a local search in this corridor, and it is getting more true rather than less.

MoE equivalency: the cost nobody budgets for

If your child may apply to a UAE university, Ministry of Education equivalency sits at the end of the IGCSE and A-Level route and it has subject requirements that affect decisions taken years earlier. For the British track, a student must show five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. That detail matters because at least one page currently ranking for UAE tutoring queries tells parents that six IGCSE subjects are required. It is five, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, and a family that plans around the wrong number either over-enters subjects at real examination cost or under-enters and discovers the problem too late to fix cheaply.

For the American track, English proficiency is met by a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. For the IB Diploma, we publish no points threshold, because none has been read on an official Ministry source and an invented figure would be the single most damaging thing on this page. Verify on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority. IB Gram does not perform equivalency and cannot influence its outcome.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside the Diploma

  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are required in all Dubai private schools
  • Separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students are mandatory, not optional
  • Teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic require appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects
  • Tutoring here works from the school's approved content; additional material needs Ministry permission

Every Dubai private school teaches Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies regardless of the international curriculum it is licensed for, and KHDA required these arrangements to be in place by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. For a Dubai Festival City family this is a line on the timetable that competes with Diploma revision, and it is almost never discussed on tutoring pages.

The rules are specific enough to be worth knowing. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arab students and for Arabic as a first language, with the school's licensed-curriculum language used for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies.

Two practical consequences. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided total weekly time is met, and KHDA advises any mandatory-subject lesson should run at least 25 minutes. And for these subjects the use of any different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is strictly prohibited, which constrains what any tutor can legitimately offer: support means working with the school's own approved material, not importing a parallel course.

Getting started from Dubai Festival City, including what happens if nobody is free

  • Name the paper, not just the subject; it halves the diagnostic time
  • Free trial lesson first, written gap summary second, hours third
  • If no specialist is free at your hour, we tell you rather than substituting quietly
  • No UAE office, no travel to addresses, no examiner claim we cannot evidence

The honest sequence is short. You tell us the subject, the level and the paper that is going wrong. We arrange a free trial lesson with a tutor matched to that exact syllabus and level, delivered as live one-to-one video. After it, you get a plain written note of where the gap sits, by topic, and a recommended number of hours. If that number is lower than you expected, that is the system working rather than a soft sell.

Sometimes the right specialist is not available at the hour a Dubai Festival City family needs. Higher Level Chemistry, Higher Level Physics and Maths Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level are the three slots that fill first, and after-school hours on Gulf Standard Time are the busiest in the week. When that happens we say so, offer the nearest alternative slot, or tell you the wait. Competing pages in this market do not disclose a coverage limit anywhere, and several route UAE parents to an Indian phone number without mentioning where delivery actually happens.

Everything runs online, one-to-one, over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram has no office, centre or branch in the UAE and does not claim one. We also will not describe any tutor as a current IB or Cambridge examiner unless that status can be evidenced, because examiner labelling is the cheapest unverifiable credential in this market and it is used constantly. Ask us for the evidence; ask everyone else for it too.

Where we tutor

Where we deliver around Dubai Festival City

These are the communities that sit inside or next to Dubai Festival City, with the detail that actually affects a tuition budget: how far a tutor would have to drive if anyone were driving, and what that distance does to an in-home quote compared with a live video lesson.

Al Badia

The residential and golf-course side of Dubai Festival City and the closest address to Deira International School. In-home quotes here are at the lower end of the travel premium simply because the school and the villas are minutes apart, which makes the online saving smaller but the specialist choice just as wide.

Festival Boulevard and Marsa Al Khaimah

Apartment living beside the mall and the marina. Weekday evening access is slowed by retail traffic rather than commuter traffic, so a 5pm in-home slot is less reliable here than the postcode suggests. A video lesson starting at 5pm starts at 5pm.

Al Rashidiya

Older established housing just across Dubai-Al Ain Road, feeding a mix of British and Indian curriculum schools. Families here often run two curricula in one household, which is an argument for a platform match rather than a single local tutor.

Nad Al Hamar

Villa community between Festival City and Mirdif with limited walkable school provision, so school runs are long. Parents in Nad Al Hamar frequently report that the realistic in-home start time is 5.30pm or later, which compresses any session into homework hours.

Mirdif

The largest neighbouring family district and home to an IB continuum school of its own. Mirdif is where Dubai Festival City families most often find a local tutor, and also where they discover that local supply covers Middle Years far better than Higher Level sciences.

Al Mizhar and Al Khawaneej

Lower-density villa areas further east, with American and British curriculum provision nearby. Travel from central Dubai adds real cost to an in-home rate here; the in-home premium is at its widest in this part of the eastern suburbs.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

A denser, younger community to the south with its own large British-curriculum school. Supply of IGCSE tutors is reasonable; Diploma Higher Level supply is not, which is the same pattern repeated across the eastern corridor.

Dubai International Academic City

University district adjoining Academic City schools. Undergraduate tutors are plentiful here, which explains the AED 45 to 65 budget band that EdFlik publishes and why that band exists at all.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Festival City

Dubai Festival City and Al Badia

The immediate cluster. Deira International School runs the IB continuum through to Diploma alongside IGCSE at 16, and Universal American School offers the Diploma on an American spine. Dubai Festival City School runs the English National Curriculum. A household here can genuinely be sitting MYP criteria, IGCSE codes and DP papers at the same kitchen table.

  • Deira International School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Dubai Festival City School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School

Mirdif and the eastern suburbs

The wider catchment most Dubai Festival City families also consider. Uptown International School runs the IB continuum in Mirdif, and GEMS Modern Academy at Nad Al Sheba is one of the emirate's longer-running Diploma centres. This cluster is where the local tutor market concentrates, and where its Higher Level gaps become visible.

  • Uptown International School
  • Star International School Mirdif
  • Al Mizhar American Academy
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Silicon Oasis and Academic City

The southern edge of the same corridor, reached from Festival City in twenty to thirty-five minutes depending on the hour. Several large British-curriculum schools sit here, which matters because a tutor who teaches one school's scheme of work will often already know the next school's.

  • GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis
  • Repton School Dubai
  • The Indian Academy
  • GEMS FirstPoint School

Schools are named here as context for the Dubai Festival City education market only; IB Gram claims no affiliation, endorsement or relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the paper, not just the subject

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL Paper 1 is a different problem from Paper 3, and Chemistry HL organic is a different problem from energetics. Naming the component means the first session starts on the gap rather than on reconnaissance, which is the cheapest hour you will ever save.

  2. 02

    Take the free trial lesson

A matched tutor runs a live one-to-one video session at no cost. Its purpose is diagnosis, so expect questions and a piece of timed work rather than a sales pitch. If the match is wrong, say so afterwards and we change it before any money is involved.

  3. 03

    Read the written gap summary

You receive a short note setting out where the marks are going, by topic and by component, and the number of hours we think that needs. It is written to be argued with. A summary that only recommends more hours is not a diagnosis, and you should treat it as a sales document.

  4. 04

Book the shape that fits, not the maximum

Weekly across a term, a short diagnostic block, or a pre-session intensive. Most Dubai Festival City families need one of the three rather than all of them, and the right answer is often fewer hours placed better inside the school's own deadline calendar.

  5. 05

    Review at each report cycle

School reports and mock results are free diagnostic data, so use them. Hours that are no longer earning their keep get cut, and subjects that have quietly deteriorated get picked up. The plan should look different in the second term from the first, otherwise nobody is reading the evidence.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The AED figures are on the page, with sources

Three of six researched competitors publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars to families who transact in dirhams. Every band here is attributed to the provider or survey that published it, dated October 2026, so you can check it rather than take it.

Specialism instead of driving distance

An in-home tutor must live near Al Badia or Nad Al Hamar, so geography picks your tutor. A live video lesson lets a Dubai Festival City student work with a Chemistry HL or Maths AA HL specialist who may live nowhere near the eastern suburbs, at the mid rather than the in-home band.

We will recommend fewer hours

Undiagnosed tuition is the biggest waste in this market and it is profitable, which is why nobody warns you about it. The diagnostic block exists to shrink the booking where shrinking is right, and the trial lesson means that diagnosis costs nothing.

A clear line on assessed work

Tutors teach, explain criteria, and give feedback on the student's own drafts. They do not write or complete an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or TOK essay. One site in this market sells finished IAs; the risk of that transaction lands entirely on the student.

Regulation described, never borrowed

We explain what KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE and the Ministry of Education each do, and we claim approval from none of them because IB Gram holds none. KHDA-approved tutors is the most dangerous phrase in this market and you should distrust everyone who uses it.

Honest about coverage limits

After-school hours on Gulf Standard Time fill fastest, and Higher Level sciences fill fastest within those. When no specialist is free we say so and give you the wait, rather than substituting a generalist and letting you find out in week three.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Festival City: your questions answered

How much does an IB home tutor in Dubai Festival City actually cost?+

Market rates rather than ours: a qualified online IB subject tutor in Dubai is priced at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, and an IB specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 table giving the 200 to 450 band. In-home one-to-one runs AED 180 to 500 an hour because travel is inside the figure. IB Gram's own terms are set after a free trial lesson and a diagnostic conversation, because a single hourly number for Primary Years reading and Chemistry Higher Level would mislead you in both directions.

Will a tutor come to our villa in Al Badia or our apartment on Festival Boulevard?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; that is a service we run only in India. For Al Badia, Festival Boulevard and Marsa Al Khaimah families, tuition is delivered as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time. The practical effect is that you are not paying a travel component inside the hourly rate, your session starts when the link opens rather than when the Garhoud queue clears, and the tutor is chosen for knowing your child's syllabus rather than for living within driving distance of Dubai Festival City.

Is the in-home premium in the eastern suburbs worth paying?+

Compare the two packages this market actually offers. Around AED 799 a month buys eight online sessions; AED 1,599 to 1,799 buys four in-home sessions of two hours. That is roughly double the money for the same contact time. The extra buys a physical presence, which genuinely helps some younger students, plus a phone that cannot be scrolled. It also buys a car, a driver's hour and the risk of a late start. For a Higher Level science, the bigger cost is choosing from whoever will drive to Nad Al Hamar.

What is the single biggest way Dubai Festival City families waste tuition money?+

Buying correctly priced hours aimed at the wrong problem. A family books calculus support for a Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL student and learns four sessions later that the calculus was never the issue, the algebraic manipulation was. Those hours were not overpriced, they were misdirected. A diagnostic block of two or three sessions, starting with the free trial lesson, finds the gap before the budget commits to a term. The second biggest waste is weekly continuity in a subject the student is already coping with.

Do private tutors in Dubai need a permit, and should I check?+

Yes to both. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published, so treat any figure you see online as unverified. Ask any tutor directly and expect a straight answer.

Which IB subjects are hardest to find a specialist for near Dubai Festival City?+

Chemistry Higher Level, Physics Higher Level and Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches Higher Level, in that order. International Baccalaureate students were 7 per cent of Dubai's private school enrolment in 2024-25, so the Diploma pool is a small slice of a large market, and the Higher Level science slice of that is smaller again. Within a twenty-minute radius of Al Badia the number of people who teach those papers for a living is low enough that families regularly trade specialism for proximity. Online matching removes that trade entirely.

When do Cambridge examinations actually happen for a student at a Dubai Festival City school?+

Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series. The February and March series is offered to India only, so no UAE candidate sits it, and any page telling you otherwise is quoting a date from the wrong country. Cambridge also allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that using the wrong zone timetable is the centre's own risk. Check your school's timetable, not a tutoring site's, including this one.

Can a tutor help write my child's Internal Assessment if we pay more?+

No, and no price changes that. A tutor may teach the content, explain each lettered criterion, press on a research question until it is answerable, model a worked example on an unrelated topic, and give feedback on a draft your child has written. A tutor may not write, draft, edit to completion or supply any part of it. The work is signed as the student's own and moderated by the IB, so the consequence of anything else lands on your child. One site in this market sells completed IAs at AED 3,750; that is a malpractice finding with a price tag.

How many sessions should we book first for an IB Diploma subject?+

Two or three, aimed only at finding out what is wrong, with the first being the free trial lesson. You then get a written note of the gap by topic and component, and a recommended number of hours. For a subject the student is carrying rather than failing, that recommendation is often one weekly hour for a single term, then a review. Booking a two-year weekly slot on day one is comfortable and expensive: Bestimate puts an exam-year specialist at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above per month for one weekly hour.

Does online tutoring really work for a student who says they learn better face to face?+

Often it works better, for an unglamorous reason: a shared screen beats a shared notebook. Both people see the same working at the same size, a timed paper can be annotated live, and the session can be reviewed afterwards. What a video lesson needs is a quiet room, a charged device and a parent who checks in occasionally. What it removes is travel, late starts and the geographic limit on who your tutor can be. Try the free trial lesson before deciding on principle either way.

How does the KHDA school fee freeze affect our tutoring budget this year?+

It gives the calculation one fixed point. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in Dubai private school fees for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a total of AED 2.5 billion. Because the school bill is known rather than rising, a tutoring decision becomes a question of marginal spend rather than of absorbing two increases at once. It is also a reminder to price tuition against the whole education bill, not in isolation.

For a Dubai Festival City IGCSE student, how many subjects does MoE equivalency count?+

Five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. At least one page currently ranking for UAE tutoring queries states six, which is wrong and expensive if you plan around it. Verify on moe.gov.ae; IB Gram does not perform equivalency and cannot influence it.

Can sessions be scheduled around Ramadan and the Dubai school day?+

Yes. Lessons run on Gulf Standard Time and the slot is yours, so during Ramadan many Dubai Festival City families move to a post-Iftar time and keep the same tutor. Outside Ramadan the usual constraint is the school run: a Nad Al Hamar or Al Khawaneej household rarely has a student at a desk before 4.15pm, and an online lesson at 4.15pm begins at 4.15pm rather than whenever a car arrives. After-school hours fill first, so book the slot before the term starts if you can.

What happens if no specialist is free for Chemistry HL at the hour we need?+

We tell you, and we tell you the wait. Higher Level sciences and Maths Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level fill fastest, and the after-school window on Gulf Standard Time is the busiest part of the week, so this is a real constraint rather than a hypothetical one. You will be offered the nearest alternative slot or an honest timeline, not a quiet substitution with a generalist. No competitor researched in this market discloses a coverage limit anywhere on their pages, which is worth noticing.

Is IB Gram KHDA approved, and does it have an office in Dubai?+

No to both, and anyone claiming either should be questioned. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. IB Gram holds no such permit and does not occupy a UAE office, centre or branch. What we do is explain what KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE and the Ministry of Education each govern, so you can check a provider's claims against the regulator rather than against its own marketing.

Start with the diagnosis, then spend the money

If you have read this far, you have the market numbers in AED, the sources behind them, and a clear view of where tuition budgets in this part of Dubai quietly leak. The next step costs nothing: a free trial lesson with a tutor matched to your child's exact syllabus and level, delivered as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, followed by a written note of where the marks are going. Then you decide how many hours to buy, and whether to buy them from us at all. A provider that will not tell you when fewer hours are the right answer is not advising you.
