IGCSE Maths Tutor in Dubai Festival City

Families looking for an IGCSE maths tutor in Dubai Festival City almost always ask the hourly rate first, which is the wrong number. The useful figure is the monthly one, and alongside it the question of how many months are required. This page gives both, with sources, for Al Badia, Festival Boulevard, Nad Al Hamar and the eastern suburbs, then explains why the tier your child is entered for matters more to the final bill than the rate ever will. Lessons run as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Monthly cost bands published, not just an hourly figure
  • Matched to Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1 and to the entered tier

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Festival City

Price IGCSE maths by the month, then ask how many months

Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table gives monthly estimates for one weekly hour, and they are more useful than any hourly figure: roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for an exam-year specialist. Those are the numbers that land on a household budget. An hourly rate of AED 150 sounds moderate until it is a two-year commitment, and a rate of AED 400 sounds alarming until it is four sessions in total.

So the question that decides the bill is duration, and duration is decided by what is actually wrong. A Year 10 student who missed a unit on trigonometry needs two or three sessions and is done. A Year 11 student who cannot reliably rearrange a formula has a problem that started in Year 8 and will take two terms, because algebraic fluency is built by repetition rather than by explanation. Both students look identical on a report that says grade 5.

The second thing that decides the bill is the tier. On Cambridge 0580 a student is entered for Core or Extended; on Pearson 4MA1 for Foundation or Higher. The lower route in each case does not reach the top grades. A family spending at the exam-year specialist rate in the spring of Year 11 on a Core or Foundation entry is paying the highest band in the market for a grade ceiling that was fixed months earlier by somebody else. That is the single most expensive misunderstanding in this subject.

The rate bands themselves, for completeness and with their sources. Budget online tuition runs AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik. A qualified online subject tutor sits at roughly AED 150 to 300 across the market, with Unitors advertising IGCSE from AED 150. Specialists are AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270. In-home one-to-one is AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the figure. All published by those providers and read in October 2026, and none of them is an IB Gram price.

IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai; home visits are a service we offer only in India. For Dubai Festival City the delivery is live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time. For mathematics that is not a compromise: the working appears on a shared screen at the same size for both people, a wrong line can be annotated as it happens, and a marked past paper can be walked through question by question with both pairs of eyes on the same marks.

What follows is the detail that makes a monthly figure meaningful. Which board sets what. What the tier actually caps. The nine topics that cost most marks in this subject and what each costs to fix. What the 9 to 1 scale means and where the boundaries bite. And when in Years 9, 10 and 11 the money does the most work, which is earlier and smaller than almost anybody spends it.

At a glance

  • Monthly estimates for one weekly hour, per Bestimate: AED 240-600 budget, AED 600-1,200 mid, AED 1,000-2,000+ exam-year specialist
  • Duration, not rate, is what decides an IGCSE maths bill
  • The Core or Foundation tier caps the grade available, and the review window is Year 10
  • A missed unit needs two sessions; weak algebraic fluency needs two terms
  • All AED figures belong to the providers named and were read in October 2026

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

IGCSE mathematics sits in the middle of a longer sequence, and where a family spends in that sequence changes the total more than any discount. These are the three stages that matter.

KS3Ages 11-14

Key Stage 3 mathematics, Years 7 to 9

Number, algebra, ratio, geometry and statistics with no external examination at the end. Nothing is at stake in grade terms, which is precisely why it is the cheapest place to buy. Fluency with indices, fractions, negative numbers and rearranging formulae is established here or it is not established at all.

Dubai Festival City families routinely spend nothing in Year 9 and a great deal in Year 11. A term of budget-band support at AED 45 to 65 an hour aimed at one named Year 9 weakness prevents an exam-year specialist booking at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above per month two years later. The comparison is not close and nobody markets it.

IGCSEAges 14-16

IGCSE mathematics, Years 10 and 11

Two years to externally marked papers, with two papers sat per tier in both Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1. Cambridge splits into Core and Extended routes, Pearson into Foundation and Higher tiers. The entry decision taken during Year 10 sets the range of grades available in Year 11.

This is where the money goes, and where it should be spent on fewer months with a clearer target. Mathematics also underpins the quantitative parts of IGCSE physics and chemistry, so fixing it first often lifts two other subjects without anybody being paid to teach them. That sequencing argument is worth more than any hourly saving.

POST-16Ages 16-19

A Level, IB Diploma or BTEC after Year 11

Sixth-form mathematics routes have specific IGCSE grade requirements, and so do the sciences and economics that depend on mathematical fluency. A grade short of the requirement means either a November resit, with entry fees and a term of preparation, or a change of plan.

Deira International School runs the IB continuum into the Diploma and other schools near Dubai Festival City lead into A Level, so the consequence of an IGCSE maths grade varies by destination. Ask the school what grade the intended route needs before deciding how many months of tuition to buy, not after results arrive in August.

Equivalency and the mandatory UAE subjects

Ministry of Education equivalency for the British track requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade.

Mathematics is almost always one of the five, which makes it the subject where an equivalency problem is least likely but most consequential. At least one page ranking for UAE tutoring queries states that six subjects are required; it is five. Verify on moe.gov.ae, and note that IB Gram does not perform equivalency and cannot affect it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

This is IGCSE mathematics broken into the topics families actually buy tuition for, with what the topic costs in marks and roughly what it costs to fix. Use it to decide which two or three to pay for rather than booking the subject as a whole.

Algebraic manipulation

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Expanding, factorising, simplifying, and rearranging formulae. The single highest-value topic in the subject, because it appears in every paper and underpins physics and chemistry calculations too. Weakness here is structural and takes repetition rather than explanation, so budget terms not sessions.

Algebraic fractions and indices

Extended and Higher only

Adding, subtracting and simplifying algebraic fractions, fractional and negative indices. A classic Extended-tier discriminator: students either handle these fluently or avoid every question containing one. Four to six focused sessions usually closes it because the procedures are finite.

Trigonometry

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Right-angled trigonometry at all tiers, with the sine and cosine rules and three-dimensional problems at the higher tiers. Marks are lost by picking the wrong rule rather than by arithmetic, which makes it a diagnosis-and-drill topic with a short fix.

Graphs and functions

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Linear, quadratic and reciprocal graphs, gradients, intercepts and transformations. Students sketch plausible curves without the features that carry the marks: intercepts, turning points and asymptotes. A technique fix rather than a content one.

Probability and statistics

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Averages from tables, cumulative frequency, histograms, tree diagrams and conditional probability. Usually the best-value topic to buy, because the methods are procedural and a short block produces visible movement on a mock paper.

Ratio, proportion and percentages

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Direct and inverse proportion, compound interest, reverse percentages. Reverse percentages are the commonest single error in the whole subject at every tier, and they are taught properly in under an hour, which makes them nearly free marks.

Mensuration and geometry

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

Area, volume, surface area, similar shapes and circle theorems at the higher tiers. Similar shapes with area and volume scale factors is the topic students most often think they understand and most often get wrong under time pressure.

Vectors and transformations

Extended and Higher mainly

Column vectors, magnitude, vector geometry and the four transformations. Compact topic with a predictable question style, so a single targeted session plus marked practice tends to be sufficient rather than a term.

Number without a calculator

Where the syllabus sets a non-calculator component

Exact fractions, surds, standard form and arithmetic done cleanly on paper. Check with the school whether your child's entry includes a non-calculator paper, because if it does this becomes a separate drilling job from everything else on this list.

Exam technique and timing

All tiers

Reading the command word, showing enough working for method marks, and not spending twelve minutes on a four-mark question. Technique responds faster than content and is the correct purchase for the last eight weeks before a series.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes, priced differently and suited to different diagnoses. All run as live video lessons on Gulf Standard Time, one-to-one or in a small group, with working visible on a shared screen.

Topic block, four to six sessions

The best-value purchase in IGCSE mathematics and the one least often sold. One named topic, marked practice, a defined end. Reverse percentages, similar shapes, algebraic fractions, cumulative frequency: each of these is a finite set of procedures that a student either has or does not have, and a block closes it.

  • One topic, measurable before and after on a past paper
  • Bounded cost, so the monthly figure has a visible end
  • Repeatable on the next topic once the first is closed
  • Works at the qualified band; does not need the specialist band

Weekly across two terms

The right shape for structural algebraic weakness, which is built by repetition and cannot be compressed. This is where Bestimate's AED 600 to 1,200 monthly mid-band figure genuinely applies, and where a family should expect to be spending for two terms rather than for four weeks.

  • Same tutor throughout, because the subject is cumulative
  • Paced against the school's own scheme of work
  • Homework set and marked between sessions, not optional
  • Review at the mock window and cut if it has stabilised

Final-stretch technique intensive

Six to eight weeks before a series, aimed almost entirely at marked timed papers rather than new content. Technique moves faster than knowledge, so this is the one late purchase that reliably earns its cost, provided it is not being asked to do a structural job in the time available.

  • Full papers under timing, marked against published criteria
  • Command words and working-out conventions drilled
  • Fixed end date, so the budget has a visible ceiling
  • Honest about what cannot be fixed in the time left

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Festival City

01

The monthly numbers, and what duration does to them

Bestimate's monthly estimates for one weekly hour are the figures to plan against: roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for an exam-year specialist. Alongside those, the packages actually seen in this market are about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Same contact time in those two packages, roughly double the price for the second.

Multiply by months and the picture changes shape. Two terms of mid-band weekly tuition is around six months, so AED 3,600 to 7,200 on those estimates. A four to six session topic block at the same band is a fraction of one month. An eight-week final intensive is two months. Those three plans differ by an order of magnitude, and which one a family needs is determined entirely by the diagnosis rather than by how worried anybody is.

This is why the first useful conversation is not about price. It is about whether the problem is a missed unit, a technique habit, or structural fluency. A missed unit is two sessions. A technique habit is a block. Structural fluency is two terms, and buying two sessions for it wastes both. Nobody can tell which of the three you have from a report grade, which is the whole argument for a diagnostic before a booking.

One more thing the monthly view exposes. A family that commits to weekly tuition in September and never reviews it will spend nine or ten months regardless of whether the subject stabilised in November. Reviewing at the mock window and cutting where the evidence says to cut is the single largest saving available in this subject, and it requires nothing except asking the question.

Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1

Two boards dominate IGCSE mathematics in Dubai and they are not interchangeable. Cambridge International's mathematics syllabus carries the code 0580 and splits candidates into Core and Extended routes, each sitting two papers. Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE mathematics is 4MA1 and splits into Foundation and Higher tiers, each sitting two papers of two hours with a calculator permitted throughout. Cambridge has also introduced a non-calculator component on the current syllabus, so confirm with the school which papers your child's entry involves.

The content overlap is large and the assessment experience is not. Command-word phrasing differs. The distribution of marks between topics differs. The way a question is scaffolded differs, and scaffolding is exactly what a student relies on when they are uncertain. A tutor who has taught one board for years will teach a competent term of the other and the student will meet an unfamiliar paper in the mock, which is both expensive and avoidable.

Grading is the other thing to check. Cambridge reports some IGCSE syllabuses on an A* to G scale and others on a 9 to 1 scale, depending on the variant a school enters, while Pearson's International GCSE mathematics reports 9 to 1. That matters when a sixth-form requirement is expressed as a grade 6 or a grade B, because the two are not identical and a family comparing them without checking can misjudge how far from the requirement their child actually is.

The fix is one message. Ask the school for the syllabus code and the tier, in writing, for mathematics specifically rather than for the subjects as a group. Many Dubai schools enter some subjects with Cambridge and others with Pearson, so an answer about the school is not an answer about the subject. Quote that code when you request a tutor, and ask the tutor to tell you how the two boards differ before you book.

The tier decides the ceiling, and Year 10 is the window

Core on Cambridge 0580 and Foundation on Pearson 4MA1 do not reach the top grades. That is the most financially significant sentence on this page. A student entered for the lower tier can work extremely hard, be tutored expensively, and still finish below a grade threshold a sixth-form course requires, because the papers they sat do not contain the marks needed to cross it.

The entry decision is made by the school, usually during Year 10, on the basis of classwork and internal assessment. It is a prediction about which papers the student will perform best on, and it is often correct. It is also sometimes a reaction to one weak term, or to a student who was absent during the unit that the decision rested on. Those cases are reviewable, and the review has to happen while the entry can still be changed.

So the sequencing of tuition money follows directly. If there is any ambition towards a sixth-form course with a specific mathematics requirement, the diagnostic belongs in Year 10, aimed at establishing whether the ceiling is set by ability or by a gap from Key Stage 3. That is a small, cheap, early purchase. Spending the exam-year specialist band in the spring of Year 11 on a lower-tier entry is the opposite: the largest spend at the moment it can do least.

A practical note on evidence. Schools respond to specifics rather than to parental conviction. A written assessment showing that a student handles Extended-level algebraic fractions and indices once the Year 8 index rules are secure is a conversation; a request to move tiers because the parent believes the child is capable is not. The useful tutoring purchase in Year 10 is often the assessment itself rather than a term of lessons.

04

The topics that cost the most marks, and what each costs to fix

Not every weakness is equally expensive to repair, and knowing the difference is how a family buys three topic blocks instead of two terms. Reverse percentages, for instance, are the commonest single error in this subject at every tier and can be taught properly in under an hour. Similar shapes with area and volume scale factors are a close second and take two sessions. Both are nearly free marks sitting unclaimed.

At the other end, algebraic fluency is not a topic at all but a capability, and it is the one thing that genuinely requires months. Expanding, factorising, simplifying and rearranging appear in every paper and underpin the calculation marks in IGCSE physics and chemistry too. A student without it will appear to have weaknesses in trigonometry, graphs, mensuration and probability, when in fact they have one weakness showing up in five places.

That is the diagnostic insight worth paying for. Take two marked papers, classify every lost mark, and look for whether the errors cluster by topic or by capability. Clustered by topic means buy blocks. Spread evenly across topics with algebra visible inside each one means buy terms. Most families never do this and buy an average of the two plans, which costs more than the right plan and achieves less.

The table below is the version to work from, and the final column is written as honestly as we can make it. Several rows say that a cheap fix is available, which is not a commercially useful thing for a tutoring page to say. It is, however, the correct thing, and a parent who closes three cheap topics before deciding whether to buy a term will usually find the term is shorter than it would have been.

What the grade scales mean and where boundaries bite

  • A grade is a boundary, so the plan depends on how far below it the student sits
  • Pearson International GCSE maths reports 9 to 1; Cambridge variants differ, so confirm
  • Boundaries are set after marking and move between series; distrust any fixed mark total
  • Ask the school after mocks how many marks separate the student from the target

A grade is a boundary, not a continuum, and that changes how tuition money should be aimed. A student two marks below a boundary and a student eighteen marks below it look similar on a report and need entirely different plans. The first needs the cheap topics closed and the timing fixed, which is a matter of weeks. The second needs the capability work, which is a matter of terms.

The scales themselves are worth confirming. Pearson's International GCSE mathematics reports on a 9 to 1 scale. Cambridge reports some IGCSE syllabuses on A* to G and others on 9 to 1 depending on the variant a school enters. When a sixth-form entry requirement is expressed as a grade 6, or as a B, check which scale your child's certificate will use before assuming the two map onto each other neatly. The school's exams officer can confirm it in a line.

Grade boundaries themselves move between series, because they are set after the papers are marked according to how the cohort performed. That is why no honest page publishes a mark total for a grade, and why anybody who tells you a fixed number is required is guessing. What is stable is the relative value of the cheap fixes: reverse percentages and similar shapes carry marks in every series regardless of where the boundary lands.

The practical method for a Dubai Festival City family is to ask the school, after mocks, roughly how far from the target grade the student sat. Schools can answer that from internal marks even without published boundaries. A gap of a few marks is a short, cheap, technique-led plan. A larger gap is a longer one, and knowing which you are in before committing six months of mid-band tuition is worth the conversation.

06

One-to-one or a small group for maths specifically

  • Procedural topics work in a group of two to four and cost less per student
  • Capability work needs one-to-one; the group version of it changes nothing
  • The cheapest effective plan is usually a hybrid of both
  • Centres with premises need a KHDA institute permit, which you can ask to see

Mathematics divides more cleanly than most subjects on this question. Procedural topics taught to a group of two to four students work well, because everybody needs the same method demonstrated and then everybody practises it. Cumulative frequency, reverse percentages, circle theorems: these are group-friendly, and the cost per student falls accordingly without the teaching getting worse.

Capability work does not divide. A student whose algebraic fluency is weak needs their own errors caught as they happen, repeatedly, which cannot be done while three other students are working at a different pace. Buying the group version of this is the commonest false economy in IGCSE mathematics, because it looks like tuition, costs less, and produces no change in the marked papers.

A hybrid is usually the cheapest effective plan. Put the procedural topics into a group or into supervised self-study with the school's past papers, and spend the one-to-one money on the capability. Families around Mirdif and Al Badia who split the spend this way consistently report paying less across Years 10 and 11 than those who choose one model and apply it to everything.

Tuition centres sit outside this comparison and should be judged separately. A centre with premises and staff in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, up to six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. That compliance position is checkable, which is a genuine advantage over an individual advertising on a community board.

07

When in Years 9, 10 and 11 the money works hardest

Earlier and smaller, almost always. Year 9 has no external stakes, which makes it the cheapest year in which to fix fluency, and the budget band at AED 45 to 65 an hour is perfectly adequate for repetitive marked practice. Nobody sells Year 9 tuition hard because there is no deadline to point at, and that is precisely why it is underbought relative to how well it works.

Year 10 autumn is when tier decisions start forming, so a diagnostic assessment belongs there. Year 10 spring is for the one structural subject, if there is one, taken slowly. Year 11 autumn is the mock window, which produces the best free diagnostic data in the whole sequence: a marked mock paper tells you more than any paid assessment, and reading it properly costs nothing.

Year 11 spring is for technique, and technique only. Marked timed papers, command words, working-out conventions, question selection and timing. This genuinely moves marks because exam technique responds faster than knowledge does. What it cannot do is build algebraic fluency from scratch, and a family buying the exam-year specialist band in March to do that is buying the most expensive version of the least likely outcome.

Set against the series, the shape is simple. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series in the UAE, and the February and March series is India-only, so no Dubai candidate sits it. Pearson International GCSE runs May and June and November, with November 2025 results reaching students on 22 January 2026. That January date is what makes November a viable resit route, and it is why a small reserve for entry fees belongs in the budget from the start.

Starting from Dubai Festival City, and what we will not sell

  • Send the code, the tier and two marked papers before anything else
  • Free trial lesson, then a written plan with a duration attached
  • No home visits in the UAE, no UAE office, no board or regulator approval
  • No grade predictions, and no past papers or mark schemes supplied as downloads

Send the board code, the tier, and the last two marked papers. The marked papers are the valuable item, because every lost mark can be classified before a dirham is committed and the classification is what determines whether you need blocks or terms. Add the hour your child is genuinely at a desk on a school night, allowing for the bus from Al Mizhar or the queue out of Festival City.

We match a tutor to that board and tier and run a free trial lesson as live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time, at no cost. Afterwards you receive a written note setting out the clustered errors, the topics worth a block, whether the underlying issue is capability rather than content, and a recommended plan with a duration attached. If the plan is three topic blocks rather than two terms, take the three blocks.

The honest limits. Lessons are online: IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE, which is a service we offer only in India, and there is no UAE office, centre or branch. We hold no regulator or board approval and claim none, so nobody here is KHDA approved or Cambridge accredited. We do not supply syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes as downloads, because reproducing them is not ours to do; we reference them and link to the official source.

One further limit about outcomes. Nobody can promise a grade, and this page deliberately contains no prediction. What the first month should produce is specific: your child knowing which tier and which papers they are sitting, a written list of the topics costing marks, and one measurable improvement in timing or working-out conventions. If a provider opens with a predicted grade instead of a diagnosis, that is information about the provider.

Where we tutor

What a monthly tuition figure buys, by community

The rate bands are emirate-wide. What differs by community is how much of a paid hour survives travel and arrival time, which is a cost question even though it never appears as a line item.

Al Badia

Short journeys from the nearest campuses, so an in-home maths hour loses less here than anywhere else nearby. Even so, the pool of tutors who know a specific board and tier remains whoever is willing to drive, and for Extended or Higher tier work that is a narrow set.

Festival Boulevard and Marsa Al Khaimah

Apartment living with turnover that affects continuity. Mathematics suffers most from a tutor change mid-year, because the subject builds on itself, so a monthly figure should be read alongside a question about who teaches every session.

Nad Al Hamar

Long school runs put a visiting tutor into the evening window by default, and mathematics is the subject least suited to a tired late slot. Families here pay the in-home premium for the weaker of the two daily windows, which is value lost without a price reduction.

Mirdif

The deepest local tutoring market in eastern Dubai, so the middle band is genuinely competitive here and a local IGCSE maths tutor at a fair monthly rate is a realistic expectation. Ask specifically whether they teach the board your child is entered with.

Al Mizhar and Al Khawaneej

Long bus routes and low density. The travel component inside an in-home rate is at its largest in these communities, and the gap between what an online hour and a visited hour deliver is widest here too.

Al Warqa and Al Rashidiya

Established housing with many mathematics tutors trained on CBSE or other British specifications. Strong teachers, but a tutor who has never taught 0580 Extended will not know the paper structure or where that specific tier takes marks off.

International City

Price-sensitive and well served at the AED 33 to 65 band. Excellent value for drilling arithmetic and supervising practice, and the wrong purchase for Extended or Higher tier content, where a term at that band typically produces no grade movement.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

University campuses nearby, which is why the budget band exists in this emirate at all. Undergraduate mathematicians are genuinely useful for repetitive marked practice, which happens to be most of what algebraic fluency actually requires.

Dubai Festival City and Garhoud

Dubai Festival City School runs the English National Curriculum through IGCSE, Deira International School enters IGCSE before the Diploma, and Dubai Scholars Private School serves the same neighbourhood on a different curriculum pattern. Board and tier practice varies between them, which is why a quote for IGCSE maths means nothing until the school and the code are named.

Star International School Mirdif, Al Mizhar American Academy, Dubai English Speaking College and Uptown International School draw from the villa communities east of Festival City. Most IGCSE maths requests in this corridor come from these schools, and the first question is always Cambridge or Pearson rather than which topic.

Silicon Oasis and the southern corridor

GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis is one of the larger British-curriculum secondary providers in eastern Dubai, with Repton School Dubai and GEMS FirstPoint School on the same corridor. A tutor who has taught one school's maths scheme of work usually recognises the next one's, which shortens the diagnostic phase.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the code and the tier in writing

Ask the school for the mathematics syllabus code and the entered tier specifically, not for the subjects as a group. Cambridge 0580 Core, 0580 Extended, Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and 4MA1 Higher are four different teaching jobs, and the answer about the school is not the answer about the subject.

  2. 02

    Send two marked papers

Every lost mark gets classified, and the key question is whether the errors cluster by topic or spread evenly with algebra visible inside each one. Clustered means buy blocks; spread means buy terms. This step costs nothing, happens before any booking, and determines the whole budget.

  3. 03

Take the free trial lesson at your real hour

One live one-to-one video session at no cost, at the time you intend to book rather than at a convenient weekend slot. A 5pm Tuesday session after a bus from Al Khawaneej tells you something a Saturday morning cannot, which is whether your child can work then at all.

  4. 04

    Close the cheap topics first

Reverse percentages, similar shapes, graph features that carry marks: each of these is under three sessions and each appears in every series. Closing three of them before deciding whether to commit to terms often shortens the term that follows, and sometimes removes the need for it.

  5. 05

Review at the mock window and cut

A marked mock is the best free diagnostic data in the sequence. Use it to stop paying for a subject that has stabilised, to intensify where something specific has been exposed, and to decide whether to hold a reserve for a November entry. Most families never review, and pay for ten months regardless.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Priced by the month and by the plan

Bestimate's monthly estimates for one weekly hour run AED 240 to 600 budget, AED 600 to 1,200 mid and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for an exam-year specialist. Multiplying those by the right duration is the only calculation that tells a family what this will actually cost.

The tier is raised before it is too late

Core and Foundation entries do not reach the top grades, and the review window is Year 10. Most providers never mention this because final-term revision is easier to sell than a Year 10 assessment. We would rather tell you while the entry can still be changed.

Matched to the board, not to the subject

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 differ in paper structure, command phrasing and grading scale, and Cambridge's current syllabus includes a non-calculator component. We ask for the code first, because a term aimed at the wrong paper is invisible until the mock arrives.

Error classification before purchase

Two marked papers, every lost mark sorted, and a judgement about whether this is topic weakness or capability weakness. That one step decides between a month of blocks and six months of weekly lessons, which is the largest financial variable in the subject.

We will tell you to buy the cheaper thing

Reverse percentages and similar shapes are nearly free marks and belong at the budget end of the market or in a group. Saying so reduces what we sell, which is exactly why no provider in this market publishes a cost-to-fix table.

Rates with their sources attached

Every AED figure here belongs to a named provider and was read in October 2026. Three of six researched competitors publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars to families who transact in dirhams, so a sourced table is the cheapest honest advantage available.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Festival City: your questions answered

What does IGCSE maths tuition cost per month around Dubai Festival City?+

Bestimate's monthly estimates for one weekly hour give roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for an exam-year specialist. Packages seen in this market run about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. All read in October 2026 and belonging to those providers. The figure that matters most, though, is how many months you need.

How many months of maths tuition will my Year 11 child actually need?+

It depends entirely on which of three problems you have. A missed unit is two or three sessions. One hard topic is a four to six session block. Structural algebraic weakness, which means expanding, factorising and rearranging are not automatic, takes two terms because fluency is built by repetition. A report grade cannot tell you which of the three it is. Two marked papers with every lost mark classified can, and that costs nothing.

Does the Core or Foundation tier really cap my child's maths grade?+

Yes. Core on Cambridge 0580 and Foundation on Pearson 4MA1 do not reach the top grades, because the papers sat do not contain the marks required to cross those boundaries. The entry is decided by the school, usually during Year 10, and the realistic review window is Year 10 and the very start of Year 11. Spending at the specialist band in the spring of Year 11 on a lower-tier entry buys the highest rate in the market for a ceiling fixed months earlier.

Which maths topics give the fastest improvement for the money?+

Reverse percentages first, because they are the commonest single error in the subject at every tier and can be taught properly in under an hour. Then similar shapes with area and volume scale factors, which take about two sessions. Then graph sketches, where students draw a plausible curve and omit the intercepts, turning points and asymptotes that carry the marks. Closing those three before committing to a longer plan often shortens the longer plan considerably.

Is my child on Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1, and how do I find out?+

Ask the school for the mathematics syllabus code and the tier in writing, for that subject specifically. Many Dubai schools enter some subjects with Cambridge and others with Pearson, so an answer about the school as a whole is not an answer about mathematics. Cambridge 0580 splits into Core and Extended; Pearson 4MA1 splits into Foundation and Higher with two two-hour papers. Quote the code when you request a tutor, because it determines whether the match is right.

Why does my child lose marks in maths when they understood the work?+

Usually four habits rather than missing knowledge. Working compressed so tightly that method marks cannot be awarded. Answering less than the question asked, for instance finding two solutions to a trigonometric equation when the interval contains four. Sketching graphs without the features that carry the marks. And spending twelve minutes on a four-mark question and then running out of time. All four are technique, all four respond to marked timed practice, and none responds to further explanation.

Do your tutors come to homes in Nad Al Hamar or Mirdif for maths?+

No. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Across the market, in-home one-to-one maths is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour because travel is inside the figure, and in these communities a visiting tutor arrives in the evening window by default, which is the weaker of the two daily slots for mathematics. Our lessons are live one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time with working shared on screen.

Is a group maths class as good as one-to-one for IGCSE?+

For procedural topics, yes, and it costs less per student. Cumulative frequency, circle theorems, reverse percentages: everybody needs the same method demonstrated and then everybody practises, so a group of two to four works well. For capability work it does not, because a student with weak algebraic fluency needs their own errors caught as they happen. The cheapest effective plan is usually a hybrid: group or self-study for procedure, one-to-one for fluency.

When are IGCSE maths exams held for a Dubai candidate?+

Cambridge International runs a June series and a November series in the UAE. The February and March series exists but is offered to India only, so no Dubai student sits it, and any page quoting a February entry deadline to a UAE parent has imported another country's calendar. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May and June and again in November. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, so take the actual dates from your school's exams officer.

Can my child resit IGCSE maths in November, and when do results come?+

Yes, the November series is the standard resit route in the UAE for both boards. Pearson's November 2025 International GCSE results reached students on 22 January 2026, which is early enough to matter for sixth-form conversations, while June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students the following day. Entry fees are set by the examination centre rather than by a tutor, so ask the school and hold a reserve for them before committing the whole budget to lessons.

What grading scale will my child's maths certificate use?+

Pearson's International GCSE mathematics reports on a 9 to 1 scale. Cambridge reports some IGCSE syllabuses on A* to G and others on 9 to 1 depending on the variant a school enters, so confirm which applies to your child's entry. This matters when a sixth-form requirement is expressed as a grade 6 or a grade B, because the two scales do not map onto each other neatly and families comparing them casually can misjudge the size of the gap.

Should we start maths tuition in Year 9 if there are no exams yet?+

It is the best value in the whole sequence and almost nobody does it. Year 9 has no external stakes, so fluency with indices, fractions, negative numbers and rearranging formulae can be built at the budget band of AED 45 to 65 an hour through repetitive marked practice. The same gap addressed in Year 11 costs the exam-year specialist band of AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above per month and succeeds less often. There is no deadline in Year 9, which is why nobody sells it.

Will fixing maths help my child's physics and chemistry grades?+

Frequently, yes, and it is the best argument for sequencing. The calculation marks in IGCSE physics and chemistry depend on rearranging formulae, handling indices and standard form, and manipulating units, all of which are mathematics rather than science. A student with weak algebraic fluency shows apparent weaknesses in several subjects that are really one weakness appearing in several places. Fixing it first can lift two other grades with nobody being paid to teach them.

Does an IGCSE maths tutor working in Dubai Festival City need a MoHRE permit?+

Yes. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no schedule of amounts is published. Because the permit is free, ask directly and expect a straight answer.

What should the first month of maths tuition actually show?+

Three things, and none of them is a grade. Your child should know which tier and which papers they are sitting. You should hold a written list of the topics costing marks, with an indication of whether the pattern is topic weakness or capability weakness. And one element of technique should visibly improve, most often the amount of working shown or the time spent per question. Grade movement takes longer, and a provider opening with a predicted grade has told you how it sells.

The monthly figure, times the right number of months

Every provider in this market will tell you an hourly rate if pressed, and none of them will tell you how many months you need, because that is the number that decides the bill. Send the board code, the tier and two marked papers. The error classification costs nothing, the free trial lesson costs nothing, and the written plan that follows carries a duration rather than an open subscription. If it says three topic blocks, take the three blocks and keep the rest of the budget for the term when you may genuinely need it.
