IB Chemistry Tutor in Dubai Creek Harbour

An IB Chemistry tutor in Dubai Creek Harbour has to fit into an afternoon that is already full. Your child boards a bus in Nad Al Sheba, Al Jaddaf or Al Quoz, crosses Ras Al Khor Road at the worst hour of the day, and walks through the door closer to 4.15pm than 3.30pm. This page is written around that timetable rather than around ours. IB Gram teaches Diploma Programme Chemistry one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, in slots that exist after the bus has actually arrived.

  • Session slots set after the bus return, not before it
  • Tutors matched to Chemistry HL or SL and your child's own school scheme of work
  • One free 45-minute trial lesson, no card details taken, nothing to cancel
  • Written feedback on the student's own IA drafts; never any drafting for them

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Creek Harbour

Chemistry tuition that fits the Creek Harbour afternoon

Dubai Creek Harbour is a commuter district for schooling. The master plan is still filling in, so secondary students leave the district every morning and come back in the late afternoon, and almost every tutoring decision a parent here makes is really a decision about the clock. A Chemistry session booked for 3.30pm will be missed, rescheduled and eventually abandoned. A Chemistry session booked for 5pm, after the bus has come in and a meal has happened, survives the term. That sounds trivial and it is the single biggest predictor of whether tutoring works for a family in this district.

The geography is specific enough to plan around. Most Creek Harbour families run their school day in one of three directions. North and west across the creek to Al Jaddaf, Culture Village and Al Garhoud, which is the shortest journey and the densest nearby school cluster. South along Ras Al Khor Road or Al Khail Road to Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Meydan, which holds some of the emirate's largest Diploma cohorts. Or towards Downtown, Business Bay and Al Quoz, usually chosen because a parent works nearby rather than because the drive is short.

School days in those clusters finish between roughly 2.45pm and 3.15pm. The bus does not. Pick-up, loading and the run back across the Ras Al Khor approaches puts most Creek Harbour students through their own front door between 4pm and 4.30pm, and later on days when the Business Bay crossing is slow. Add the time it takes a seventeen-year-old to eat something and find their folder, and the first honest tutoring slot in this district is about 5pm. Weekends and the Friday short day open the morning up, which is why a lot of our Creek Harbour Chemistry work happens on Saturdays.

Chemistry has its own reason to care about timing. It is a subject where the work has to be done in sequence, because energetics depends on bonding, equilibrium depends on energetics, and organic mechanisms depend on understanding electron movement properly in the first term. A student who misses three weeks of DP1 Chemistry has not lost three weeks of content; they have lost the foundation for the next three months. Catching that early in a predictable weekly slot is far cheaper, in money and in stress, than catching it in a panic before mocks.

What IB Gram offers for Creek Harbour is Diploma Programme Chemistry taught one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, by a tutor matched to the level and the school's own sequence. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. That is a service we run only in India, and we say so here rather than after a booking. The practical benefit for this district is exactly the thing the school run exposes: a video lesson at 5pm costs the tutor no driving time, so the hour you pay for is an hour of teaching rather than an hour of teaching plus a share of someone's commute.

At a glance

  • School days in the nearby clusters end between about 2.45pm and 3.15pm
  • Buses reach Creek Harbour towers from roughly 4pm, later on slow crossing days
  • The first realistic weekday session is about 5pm; weekend mornings are easier
  • DP Chemistry is sequential: bonding to energetics to equilibrium to organic mechanisms
  • The internal investigation is 20% of the final Chemistry grade at both HL and SL
  • All IB Gram lessons for UAE families are online and one-to-one; home visits are India-only
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Chemistry tuition requests in this district arrive at three predictable points: the MYP science student about to choose levels, the IGCSE student heading into the Diploma, and the DP student whose first real Chemistry test has gone badly. These are the stages and what each one needs.

Diploma Programme Chemistry

Chemistry is taken at Higher or Standard Level, sharing a common core across atomic structure, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, redox, organic chemistry and measurement. Higher Level extends every one of those and adds substantially more quantitative work. Assessment is external papers plus a single internal investigation worth 20% of the final grade. The data booklet supplies constants and equations, so the examination tests selection and application rather than recall of formulae.

Creek Harbour's DP Chemistry students are spread across schools in Al Jaddaf, Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Al Garhoud, each setting its own internal investigation deadline. We ask for the school's deadline sheet at the start, because a Chemistry block timed for the wrong month is wasted money. Sessions are scheduled after the bus return, which in this district means 5pm or later on weekdays.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme Sciences

MYP Sciences is assessed on four criteria scored 1-8 rather than on papers: knowing and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflecting on the impacts of science. It builds strong investigation design early. What it does not build is the calculation stamina DP Chemistry assumes, particularly moles, concentration and limiting reagents, which arrive fast in the first DP term.

For a Creek Harbour student in MYP 5 who intends to take Chemistry in the Diploma, the most useful term of tuition is the summer before DP1 rather than the panic term after. Three or four sessions on mole calculations and on balancing redox equations removes the problem that otherwise surfaces in October. We will say when this is not needed, which for a confident MYP mathematician it often is not.

IGCSE Chemistry into the Diploma

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry is syllabus 0620 and Pearson's International GCSE Chemistry is 4CH1. Both split into core and extended or higher content and both assess practical skills on paper rather than in a laboratory. The transition into DP Chemistry is less about new topics than about depth: the same reaction a student described at IGCSE now has to be explained with enthalpy data, equilibrium position and a mechanism.

British-curriculum schools around Al Jaddaf, Al Garhoud and Nad Al Sheba feed both A Level and the IB Diploma. Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series for UAE centres; Pearson Edexcel runs May/June and November. Every centre is allocated to one of six Cambridge administrative zones, and Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used.

Chemistry internal investigation and extended essay

The Chemistry internal investigation is one independent experiment written up within the IB's word limit and marked at school against the IB's named criteria. A Chemistry extended essay is a separate 4,000-word research piece with a school supervisor. Both must be the student's own work throughout. Tutoring here means teaching method, interrogating the research question, explaining what each criterion rewards, and giving written feedback on drafts the student has written.

Timing matters more than talent on this component. Most Dubai schools set the Chemistry investigation deadline in the second term of DP1 or the first term of DP2, which collides with the Creek Harbour exam and travel calendar. A short intensive block four to six weeks before the school's deadline is the arrangement that works; a block in the final fortnight rarely changes the criterion the student is losing marks under.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Chemistry rarely travels alone. The combinations below are the ones Creek Harbour families actually request alongside it, described by what the assessment rewards rather than by topic list.

Chemistry HL

Higher Level

The full core plus additional higher-level material in every theme, with a markedly heavier quantitative load. Marks concentrate in energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms. HL students typically need 90-minute sessions to work a full extended-response question and review it against a mark scheme in the same sitting.

Chemistry SL

Standard Level

The same core with the higher-level extensions removed. SL marks are lost disproportionately on definitions and command terms rather than on difficult chemistry: answering 'outline' at the length of 'explain' costs time, and answering 'explain' at the length of 'state' costs marks outright.

Biology

HL and SL

The most common pairing for Creek Harbour students aiming at medicine or life sciences. Heavy on terminology precision. Students who handle the clean variables of a Chemistry investigation often find the Biology investigation harder, because biological variables refuse to behave.

Physics

HL and SL

The engineering pairing. Shares Chemistry's structure of external papers plus a 20% investigation, and shares the data-booklet navigation skill. A student strong in Chemistry calculations usually transfers well, except on uncertainty propagation, which Physics tests harder.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Calculus and algebra at the level DP Chemistry quietly assumes. A Chemistry student who stalls on logarithms will stall on pH and on rate equations, and the symptom shows up in Chemistry first. We often find the real Chemistry fix is three sessions of AA work.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics-led with a graphical and technology emphasis. Workable with Chemistry SL. Check the prerequisite pages of any intended medicine or engineering degree before choosing this route, because several faculties specify the Analysis and Approaches course.

Environmental Systems and Societies

SL

An interdisciplinary option that satisfies both a science and an individuals-and-societies requirement. Chemistry students find the systems-thinking assessment unfamiliar at first, because it rewards argument structure rather than calculation accuracy.

Sports, Exercise and Health Science

HL and SL

Chosen by Chemistry students who want a second science with a physiological angle. Contains more biochemistry than most expect, so Chemistry knowledge transfers directly into the energy-systems material.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Includes an individual oral on extracts the student chooses. Science students commonly underestimate the guided analysis paper, where the marks follow structure and evidence selection rather than vocabulary range.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

A 1,600-word essay on a prescribed title plus an exhibition of three objects. A Chemistry student has usable material here from laboratory work, provided they can move past treating scientific method as self-evidently reliable.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes of Chemistry support cover nearly every request from this district, and the right one depends mostly on where the school's own deadlines sit. All are delivered live over video.

The fixed post-bus weekly hour

One recurring slot each week, same tutor, set deliberately after the bus arrives. For most Creek Harbour families that means 5pm or later; for Sobha Hartland families 4.30pm works. The point of fixing it is attendance: a slot that fights the school run is a slot that gets cancelled twice and then quietly dropped. Content follows the school's own scheme of work rather than a generic order.

  • Recurring slot chosen around your child's actual return time
  • Same tutor through the term, with a running record of topics
  • Annotated whiteboard and worked solutions sent after each session
  • 60 minutes for SL, 90 for HL extended-response practice

Weekend morning blocks

Saturday and Sunday mornings are the only part of a Creek Harbour week not shaped by traffic, and a surprising amount of our Chemistry teaching in this district happens then. A 90-minute weekend session can do what two tired weekday hours cannot, particularly for organic mechanisms, which need sustained attention rather than frequent short visits.

  • 90 or 120 minutes without a school day in front of it
  • Suits organic mechanisms, equilibrium and multi-step calculation work
  • Easier to run during Ramadan, when weekday evenings shift
  • Popular for exam-run intensives in the final six weeks

Investigation and extended essay blocks

Short intensive series timed four to six weeks before the school's own Chemistry investigation deadline. The tutor works on research question precision, variable control, uncertainty treatment and what each named criterion rewards, through questioning and written feedback on drafts the student has produced themselves. The student writes every word. We do not draft, edit to completion or supply topics.

  • Timed against your school's deadline sheet, not a generic calendar
  • Research question narrowed until it is measurable with available apparatus
  • Criterion-mapped written feedback on the student's own drafts
  • No ghost-writing, no supplied data, no fill-in templates

Small online groups, two to four students

Where several students from the same Creek Harbour or Al Jaddaf school and the same level want to share a session and a cost. It works for past-paper and technique work among students at a similar standard. It works poorly for an individual calculation gap, because the pace has to serve the group. After the trial we will say which of the two your child needs.

  • Same school, same level, same paper focus, or the group fails
  • Lower cost per student than one-to-one at the same tutor tier
  • Best for exam technique in the run-in rather than content catch-up
  • Not advisable for a student carrying gaps from an earlier year

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Creek Harbour

01

The Creek Harbour afternoon, hour by hour

  • Published school end time is not arrival time; allow 60 to 80 minutes of difference
  • Nad Al Sheba and Al Quoz runs return latest; Sobha Hartland returns earliest
  • Tower lift queues at 4pm are a real five-minute factor in Creek Beach and Harbour Views
  • Weekend mornings are the only traffic-free teaching window in this district
  • A later start costs nothing when the tutor has no journey to make

Here is the direct answer to when a Chemistry session can start in this district: about 5pm on a weekday for most families, 4.30pm for those at Sobha Hartland, and from mid-morning at the weekend. Everything else on this page follows from that, so it is worth setting out properly rather than as a footnote. The reason parents get this wrong is that they plan from the school's published end time, which is between 2.45pm and 3.15pm in the nearby clusters, and the school's end time is not when the child is home.

The gap between those two numbers is where tutoring arrangements die. Bus loading takes ten to fifteen minutes before a vehicle moves. The Ras Al Khor and Al Khail approaches to Creek Harbour are at their slowest exactly when the school buses use them. Towers in Creek Beach and Harbour Views have lift queues at that hour. A student who left a Nad Al Sheba campus at 3.05pm is commonly through their own front door at 4.25pm, and is not in a state to balance a redox equation for another half hour after that.

What follows is practical rather than theoretical. Book the slot you can keep. A 5pm Chemistry hour that runs for thirty weeks does far more for a grade than a 3.30pm hour that runs for six weeks and then collapses into rescheduling messages. Because the lesson is delivered over video, the tutor has no commute of their own to fit around yours, so a later start costs nothing and an evening slot is as available as an afternoon one. The table sets out what we see across the three school runs.

Where the DP Chemistry marks sit, and which ones the school already holds

A fifth of your child's Chemistry grade is decided before the examination session and is marked by their own teacher. The internal investigation is worth 20% at both Higher and Standard Level, assessed at school against criteria the IB names and publishes. Families find this out late with surprising regularity, usually when the mark comes back and the window for improving the work has closed. If you take one thing from this page besides the timetable, take that date off your child's school deadline sheet and put it somewhere you will see it.

The external papers divide differently from most national systems. One paper tests breadth across the whole course in a short-answer and multiple-choice format. Another is extended response, where the marks follow the structure of an explanation at least as much as its chemistry. A further component covers experimental technique and the course's optional material, and it exposes students who know the content but have never thought hard about why a particular apparatus choice limits precision. The data booklet supplies constants and equations throughout, which means examination performance depends on finding the right relationship quickly rather than on having memorised it.

For tutoring this has a direct consequence. The highest-yield work in the final term is almost never new content. It is command-term discipline, extended-response structure, data-booklet navigation speed, and the handful of calculation types that recur every session: enthalpy cycles, equilibrium expressions, pH and buffer calculations, titration arithmetic. Those are drillable in a defined number of hours, which is why we can give a straight answer after a trial lesson about what six or eight weeks will realistically reach.

Energetics, equilibrium and organic: the three places Chemistry grades go

  • Energetics: sign errors in enthalpy cycles, fixed by method rather than theory
  • Equilibrium: expression setup, quadratics, and Le Chatelier reasoning that matches the maths
  • Organic: taught as mechanism, examined as timed pattern recognition
  • Moles, concentration and limiting reagents, usually a carried-over IGCSE gap
  • pH, buffers and logarithms, where the real problem is often mathematics not chemistry
  • Command terms, the cheapest marks available to a DP2 student in the final term

Across the DP Chemistry students we support in Dubai's central corridor, lost marks cluster in three predictable areas, and they are not the areas parents expect. Atomic structure and periodicity look hard on a syllabus and are usually taught thoroughly, because every teacher knows they come first and sets the pace accordingly. The damage happens later, in material taught at speed during a crowded middle term.

Energetics is the first. Enthalpy cycles, bond enthalpy calculations and Hess's law reward a student who sets out their reasoning on paper and punish a student who tries to hold the signs in their head. Most errors here are sign errors, not conceptual failures, and they are fixed by a method rather than by more theory. Equilibrium is the second, and it is where the mathematics catches up with students: writing an expression correctly, handling a quadratic that arises from it, and reasoning about Le Chatelier shifts without contradicting the arithmetic.

Organic chemistry is the third and the most expensive. It is taught as mechanisms, but it is examined as pattern recognition under time pressure, and the two require different practice. A student who can follow a nucleophilic substitution when it is explained may still be unable to produce it from a blank page in an examination. The remedy is volume with feedback: a reasonable number of mechanisms written out from scratch, marked, and the errors logged. For a Creek Harbour student on a 5pm weekday hour, this is the material we most often move to a weekend block, because it needs sustained attention rather than a tired forty minutes.

What a Chemistry tutor costs per month in this market

Parents in this district generally budget monthly rather than hourly, so start there. Bestimate's Dubai 2026 estimates for a weekly one-hour session come out at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and upwards for specialist support in an examination year. Advertised packages in the market sit alongside those figures: around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. Those monthly numbers are the ones worth comparing, because an hourly rate tells you nothing until you know how many hours a term actually contains.

Converted to the hour, the market divides into tiers that publish their own numbers. EdFlik advertises online tutoring from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. Unitors lists IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270. Bestimate's rate table puts IB, IGCSE and A Level specialist tutoring at AED 200 to 450 and above, with in-home one-to-one visits at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors ranging up to AED 500. BartyED publishes AED 650 for premium named tutoring. Every one of those figures was read from the provider's own page in October 2026.

The useful comparison for a Creek Harbour family is between the online specialist band and the in-home band, because the difference is largely travel. A tutor driving to a Creek Harbour tower at 5pm spends a meaningful part of their working evening on the Ras Al Khor approaches, and that time is inside the hourly rate whether or not anyone itemises it. IB Gram publishes no hourly price list on these pages, because the right arrangement depends on level, subject and frequency, and quoting a single number would be less honest than quoting none. What we publish is the market, so that you can judge any quote including ours, and a free trial lesson so you see the teaching before any payment. It is also worth putting tutoring in the context of school fees: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion.

Mandatory UAE subjects, Ramadan and the rest of the Creek Harbour calendar

  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory whatever the licensed curriculum
  • Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute unit, with at least 25 minutes advised per mandatory lesson
  • Separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs are required and combined classes are prohibited
  • Ramadan weekday sessions move to post-Iftar; weekend mornings carry more of the load
  • IB Gram claims no KHDA, MoE, IB or Cambridge approval, licence or partnership

Two things squeeze a Chemistry timetable in Dubai that have nothing to do with Chemistry. The first is the mandatory-subject requirement. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA calculates instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit, allows schools to vary lesson length provided weekly totals are met, and advises that any mandatory-subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes. Schools must also organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes are strictly prohibited.

Read that as timetable arithmetic. Those hours sit inside the same school week as Chemistry, and they are not optional for a Diploma student. It is a large part of why a DP2 student can have less Chemistry contact time than a parent assumes from the subject's weight in the diploma, and why evening tutoring so often ends up consolidating material the school week could not fit properly. For the mandatory subjects themselves, note that the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, which constrains how any tutoring material for those subjects may be described.

The second squeeze is the UAE calendar itself. Ramadan shortens the school day and moves family routines later, and for most of our Creek Harbour families the practical answer is to shift weekday Chemistry sessions to after Iftar and lean harder on weekend mornings. Because there is no tutor commute involved, a post-Iftar slot is genuinely available rather than theoretically available. Winter and spring breaks, Eid holidays and the long summer all fall in places that interact badly with internal assessment deadlines, and families in this district travel more than most. A session timetable that follows the family rather than the address is worth more here than it would be in a district where nobody leaves.

06

The Chemistry investigation, and the line a tutor must not cross

  • Permitted: method teaching, questioning the design, explaining criteria, written feedback on the student's own draft
  • Not permitted: choosing the question, supplying data, drafting, editing to completion, templates
  • We link official syllabus and paper sources rather than hosting copies of them
  • Malpractice consequences fall on the student, which is why this is not a negotiable preference

This needs stating because the same search results that brought you here include services selling finished IB coursework at a published price. A parent three weeks from a school deadline, with a child who has not started, can talk themselves into that purchase quickly. It is the most damaging thing available in this market. Under IB academic-honesty rules, submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice, and the consequence lands on the student's diploma rather than on the vendor's business.

What legitimate Chemistry tutoring looks like is specific. A tutor may teach experimental method and apparatus choice. A tutor may ask questions until a student narrows a vague research question themselves. A tutor may explain what each published criterion rewards and how marks are allocated across them. A tutor may read a draft the student has written and identify, in writing, which criterion is losing marks and why. A tutor may teach uncertainty treatment, graph choice and the arithmetic of error propagation that the report will need.

What a tutor may not do is choose the research question, supply data, write any section including the conclusion, edit a draft to completion, or hand over a template to be filled in, which is ghost-writing with extra steps. We also do not reproduce or circulate IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables. We reference them and link the official source, because reproducing them is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, a malpractice exposure. If any provider offers your family something from the second list, that is the moment to walk away from them rather than to negotiate.

07

Chemistry HL or SL, and what each route leaves open

Level choice is the decision with the longest shadow, and it is usually made in a single conversation during the term before DP1 begins. The honest position is that Chemistry HL is substantially more work than SL, not marginally more, and that the right answer depends on the degree route rather than on ambition in the abstract. A student who takes HL to keep options open and then loses points across three subjects has not kept options open.

The practical test is the prerequisite page of the courses your child might actually apply to. Medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, pharmacy, chemical engineering and most chemistry degrees commonly specify Chemistry at Higher Level, and many pair it with a second science or with Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches. Biomedical and life-science routes vary more than families expect, with some accepting SL Chemistry alongside HL Biology. Engineering routes outside chemical engineering frequently prefer Physics HL and Maths AA HL, with Chemistry SL sufficient. These are prerequisite pages to read, not rules to infer.

For tutoring the level decision changes what a session looks like rather than whether one is needed. HL students need longer sessions to work full extended-response questions and review them properly; the additional higher-level content in energetics, equilibrium and organic is where the HL marks concentrate. SL students make faster progress in shorter sessions concentrating on definitions, command terms and the recurring calculation types. The table compares the two on the measures that matter when a family is deciding, rather than on the content lists a school prospectus already provides.

Starting from Creek Harbour, and what goes wrong when it does

  • Send the school deadline sheet, the level, and one recently marked Chemistry script
  • Free 45-minute diagnostic trial, no card details, nothing to cancel
  • A straight answer afterwards, including when Chemistry is not the real gap
  • Tutor change at no extra cost if the match is wrong
  • No grade promises and no outcome statistics without a sample size, date and method

The first thing we ask for is the school deadline sheet, which is unusual enough to explain. Every Dubai school sets its own internal assessment dates, and in this district two students in neighbouring towers are frequently on completely different Chemistry timelines. A mentoring block booked for the wrong month is money spent on the wrong month. Alongside it we ask for the school, the level, and one recently marked Chemistry script, because a marked paper locates the real problem in ten minutes where a description of it cannot.

Then a free trial lesson of about 45 minutes, with no card details taken and nothing to cancel if you stop there. The trial is diagnostic. The tutor works a real question with your child and afterwards tells you what they found, in specific terms, including the cases where the answer is that Chemistry is not the problem. It happens more often than you would think: a student failing Chemistry calculations is sometimes a student who needs three sessions on logarithms and indices, and we would rather say that than sell a term of Chemistry.

Failure modes are worth naming in advance. Sometimes the specialist your child needs is not free at the hour you want, and we offer a date rather than quietly substituting someone else. Sometimes the personality match is wrong, which is nobody's fault and is fixed by changing tutor at no extra cost rather than by persevering. And sometimes expectations do not match arithmetic: four sessions in April will not recover a year of unsecured foundations, and we will say so at the start rather than take the booking. No tutor can promise a grade, and we do not publish figures about outcomes that we cannot show you the method behind.

Where we tutor

The three school runs out of Dubai Creek Harbour

These are the districts that define the Creek Harbour afternoon, grouped by the direction a family drives in the morning. The journey time matters less than the return time, which is what decides whether a tutoring slot survives.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate and the Address Harbour Point towers. Limited secondary provision inside the boundary, so the district empties at 7am and refills from 4pm. Tower lift queues at that hour are a genuine five-minute factor.

Al Jaddaf

The shortest run, straight across the creek, with an IB continuum school and several large towers. Ten minutes outside peak and twenty-five at pick-up, which still puts a student home by about 4pm.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront's low-rise neighbour, sharing the same bridge approaches. Families here enrol mostly in Al Garhoud or Oud Metha and face the same afternoon squeeze on the crossing.

Al Garhoud

An established Deira-side area with a long-running international school and good creek access. Many Creek Harbour families picked their tower specifically for this run; buses return around 4pm.

Nad Al Sheba

The southern run, holding large established campuses including an IB continuum school and a selective British school. The longest regular journey from Creek Harbour, with buses arriving back closer to 4.30pm.

Sobha Hartland

Inside Mohammed Bin Rashid City, with schools on site. One of the few nearby communities where a student can be home within fifteen minutes, which makes a 4.30pm session realistic for Hartland families specifically.

Meydan

Between Nad Al Sheba and Business Bay. Timing here is dictated by the bridge approach rather than by distance, and the afternoon return is unpredictable enough that we recommend a 5.30pm slot.

Business Bay and Downtown

Chosen by parents who work nearby. Short in distance, slow in practice at 3pm. The advantage is supervision: a parent within walking distance of home makes a later evening session easier to run.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

A mixed belt holding several well-known schools. Manageable in the morning and slow in the afternoon, which pushes Creek Harbour families on this run towards 6pm sessions.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Creek Harbour

Across the creek: Al Jaddaf, Culture Village and Al Garhoud

The closest cluster and the one that keeps a Creek Harbour afternoon shortest. Between them these schools cover the full continuum into the Diploma Programme and run British and IB curricula under KHDA regulation. Day ends fall between 2.45pm and 3.10pm, with buses back at Creek Harbour towers around 4pm.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Dubai Gem Private School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Al Ittihad Private School, Al Mamzar

The southern run: Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Meydan

Where most of the district's Diploma Chemistry students are actually enrolled. These campuses hold large IB cohorts and several selective British schools. The trade-off is the return journey: buses from Nad Al Sheba reach Creek Harbour closer to 4.30pm, which moves the first workable weekday session to 5.30pm for many of these families.

  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Hartland International School
  • Kent College Dubai
  • Repton School Dubai

The work-adjacent run: Downtown, Business Bay and Al Quoz

Families who chose a school near a parent's office rather than near the home. Distances are short and afternoon crossings are slow, so returns are the least predictable of the three runs. The compensating advantage is that a parent is usually home before the session starts.

  • Dubai International Academy
  • Safa Community School
  • Horizon English School
  • The Arbor School
  • GEMS Wellington Primary School

Schools are named here as local context only. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any school on this page, and the students we support attend many schools beyond those listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send the school's deadline sheet

Dubai schools set their own internal assessment dates, and in Creek Harbour neighbouring students are often months apart. The deadline sheet tells us when a Chemistry investigation block needs to run. Without it we would be guessing, and a block timed for the wrong month changes nothing about the mark.

  2. 02

Tell us the return time, not the school end time

We schedule from when your child is actually through the door. For a Nad Al Sheba run that is about 4.30pm, for Sobha Hartland nearer 3.15pm. Getting this right at the start is what makes a slot survive thirty weeks instead of six.

  3. 03

    Add one marked Chemistry script

A recent marked test with the teacher's annotations shows whether the loss is content, command terms, calculation method or timing. Those four have four different remedies, and a marked paper distinguishes them in minutes. A parent's description, however careful, usually cannot.

  4. 04

Meet the matched tutor on a free trial

About 45 minutes, live over video, no card details. The tutor works a real Chemistry problem with your child rather than presenting credentials, then tells you what they diagnosed in plain language, including the occasions when our view is that tutoring is not the right intervention.

  5. 05

Fix the slot and protect it

One recurring weekly hour after the bus, or a weekend morning block, or both during an examination run. We send annotated whiteboards and worked solutions after each session so the work is reviewable. Timing shifts during Ramadan to post-Iftar and over the summer to follow travel.

  6. 06

Judge it on the next marked piece

Not on a feeling and not on a parent's sense of mood. If the next school test or investigation draft has not moved and the tutor cannot explain why in diagnosable terms, we change the tutor rather than extend the arrangement.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Scheduled around your actual afternoon

We set Chemistry slots from the bus return rather than the school bell, which in Creek Harbour means 5pm for most runs and 4.30pm for Sobha Hartland. It sounds like a small operational detail and it is the main reason tutoring arrangements in commuter districts either hold for a term or quietly die in week six.

No commute inside the hour you pay for

The gap between the online specialist band and the in-home band in Dubai's published rates is largely travel time. A tutor crossing the Ras Al Khor approaches at 5pm is paid for that crossing whether anyone itemises it or not. A video lesson removes it and makes an evening slot as available as an afternoon one.

Matched to the school's sequence

We ask for the scheme of work so a session in week six covers what the class covered in week six. DP Chemistry is cumulative, and a tutor teaching a generic syllabus order to a student following a school's own order creates two parallel courses instead of reinforcing one.

Market prices with their sources attached

Every AED figure here is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the month it was read. Three of six competitor pages in this cluster publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in a currency UAE families do not transact in.

A hard boundary on coursework

Tutors teach method, interrogate research design, explain the published criteria and give written feedback on the student's own drafts. They do not draft, edit to completion or supply topics. Services selling completed Internal Assessments appear in the same search results, and that route risks the student's diploma.

Honest about what we are not

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, IB or Cambridge approval, licence or partnership, has no UAE office, and does not send tutors to UAE homes. We would rather state all of that on the page than have a family discover any of it after paying.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Creek Harbour: your questions answered

What time should I book a Chemistry session for a Creek Harbour student?+

About 5pm on a weekday for most families in this district, and 4.30pm if you are at Sobha Hartland. School days in the nearby clusters end between 2.45pm and 3.15pm, but bus loading plus the Ras Al Khor and Al Khail approaches put most students through their own door between 4pm and 4.30pm. Add time to eat and find a folder and the first workable slot is 5pm. Weekend mornings are easier still, and because the tutor has no journey of their own, a later start costs nothing and is just as available.

Do you send Chemistry tutors to homes in Dubai Creek Harbour?+

No. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, including Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate and the Address Harbour Point towers. Home visiting is a service we run only in India, and we state it here rather than after a booking. For UAE families every lesson is live, one-to-one video. We target the phrase because it is what parents type into Google, and then answer the question properly. If a tutor physically present is a firm requirement, we are not the right service for your family.

How much should I budget per month for IB Chemistry tutoring in Dubai?+

Bestimate's Dubai 2026 estimates for one weekly hour come to roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Advertised packages in the market include around AED 799 monthly for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Monthly figures are more useful than hourly ones, because an hourly rate tells you nothing until you know how many hours a term contains. All figures read October 2026.

Which Dubai schools do Creek Harbour Diploma students attend?+

Three directions. Across the creek to Al Jaddaf, Culture Village and Al Garhoud, which is the shortest run and includes an IB continuum school. South to Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Meydan, which holds some of Dubai's largest Diploma cohorts and several selective British schools, and is where most of the district's DP Chemistry students are enrolled. Or towards Downtown, Business Bay and Al Quoz, usually chosen for proximity to a parent's office. All operate under KHDA regulation and all are inspected annually on a six-band scale.

Is organic chemistry really the hardest part of DP Chemistry?+

It is the most expensive part, which is not quite the same thing. Organic is taught as mechanisms and examined as timed pattern recognition, and those need different practice. A student who follows a nucleophilic substitution when it is explained can still be unable to produce one from a blank page under examination conditions. The fix is volume with feedback: mechanisms written from scratch, marked, errors logged. For a Creek Harbour student on a tired 5pm weekday hour we usually move this material to a weekend block, because it needs sustained attention.

My child keeps making sign errors in enthalpy calculations. Is that fixable?+

Yes, and quickly, because it is a method problem rather than a conceptual one. Almost all enthalpy-cycle and bond-enthalpy errors come from trying to hold signs in your head instead of setting out the cycle on paper with directions marked. A tutor imposes a written layout, drills it across a set of questions, and the error rate drops within a handful of sessions. It is one of the highest-yield interventions available in DP Chemistry and one of the few that produces a visible change in a single test.

Is Chemistry HL worth the extra workload for my daughter?+

Only if a degree route she is seriously considering asks for it. Medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary science and chemical engineering commonly specify Chemistry at Higher Level. Many biomedical and life-science routes accept Chemistry SL alongside Biology HL, and engineering outside chemical engineering generally prefers Physics HL with Maths AA HL. Read the actual prerequisite pages rather than inferring a rule. Higher Level is roughly double the commitment, not a little more, and a student who takes it to keep options open and then loses points across three subjects has closed more doors than she opened.

How does Ramadan affect tutoring arrangements in Dubai?+

School days shorten and family routines shift later, so weekday sessions move to after Iftar and weekend mornings carry more of the load. Because our lessons are delivered over video, a post-Iftar slot is genuinely available rather than theoretically available, which is not true of an arrangement that depends on a tutor driving across the city at that hour. We ask families to tell us their preferred Ramadan pattern in advance rather than cancelling week by week, because a planned shift keeps momentum and an improvised one loses it.

What is in the Chemistry data booklet and why does it matter?+

The booklet supplies constants and equations for use in the examinations, so the papers are not testing whether a student has memorised formulae. They are testing whether a student can select and apply the right relationship quickly, which is a practised skill and not a knowledge gap. Students who have never worked systematically with the booklet lose minutes per paper hunting for something they know is in there. We drill navigation as a timed skill in its own right. The booklet itself comes from the IB; we reference it rather than reproducing it.

Can a tutor help with the Chemistry internal assessment without crossing a line?+

Yes, and the line is specific. A tutor may teach experimental method and apparatus choice, question the research design until the student narrows it themselves, explain what each published criterion rewards, teach uncertainty and error treatment, and give written feedback on drafts the student has written. A tutor may not choose the question, supply data, write any section, edit to completion, or hand over a template. Services in these search results sell completed Internal Assessments; submitting that is malpractice under IB rules and the consequence falls on your child.

How many weeks before the school's IA deadline should we start mentoring?+

Four to six weeks before the school's own deadline is the window that works. Earlier than that and the student usually has not collected data, so the sessions become theoretical. Later and the criterion they are losing marks under is already baked into a report that is too far along to restructure. This is why we ask for the school deadline sheet before anything else: in Creek Harbour, two students in neighbouring towers are frequently on timelines months apart, and a generic calendar helps neither of them.

Does mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education reduce my child's Chemistry time?+

It affects the week, yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools whatever the licensed curriculum, and KHDA required implementation by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, with at least 25 minutes advised per mandatory lesson, and separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs are required rather than optional. Those hours sit in the same week as Chemistry, which is part of why evening tutoring so often consolidates what the school week could not fit.

Are your Chemistry tutors approved by KHDA?+

No, and nobody offering you tutoring should claim to be. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, involving initial approval, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. IB Gram has no premises in the UAE and holds no such permit, so describing our tutors as KHDA approved would be false. Individual tutors in the UAE need the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is a different thing entirely.

We travel out of Dubai for several weeks at a time. Does tutoring stop?+

It does not have to, and this is where a video arrangement differs most from a home-visit one in practice. Creek Harbour families travel a lot, and the breaks fall in places that interact badly with internal assessment deadlines, particularly the DP1 summer when most Chemistry investigations are being written. A tutor who drives to your tower cannot follow you to Europe or South Asia. A scheduled video lesson can, subject to the time difference, so the student keeps momentum through the exact weeks when coursework is due.

What if Chemistry is not actually the problem?+

Then we say so, and it happens often enough to be worth mentioning before you book. A student failing Chemistry calculations is frequently a student who needs a few sessions on logarithms, indices or rearranging equations, because pH, rate expressions and equilibrium all sit on mathematics the student never secured. Occasionally the honest finding is that the level is wrong and the conversation belongs with the school. The trial lesson exists partly to catch this, and we would rather lose a Chemistry booking than sell a term against the wrong diagnosis.

How quickly can a DP Chemistry tutor start for a Creek Harbour family?+

Usually within two to four working days for Standard Level and three to five for Higher Level, assuming you want a slot after 5pm, which almost everyone in this district does. If no specialist is free at your preferred hour we give you a date rather than substituting a non-specialist quietly, because the whole argument for matching online is that the tutor knows the exact course. Investigation mentoring blocks take a little longer to arrange, since criteria experience is not something a general science tutor can stand in for.

Book the hour your family can actually keep

The most useful thing you can send us is not a long description of the problem. It is three items: your child's school and Chemistry level, the school's internal assessment deadline sheet, and one recently marked Chemistry script. From those we can match a Diploma Programme Chemistry specialist and propose a slot that fits your real afternoon rather than the school's published end time. The trial lesson is free, runs about 45 minutes, takes no card details and leaves nothing to cancel. Afterwards you get a specific diagnosis of what is costing marks. All lessons for UAE families are delivered live and one-to-one online on Gulf Standard Time.
