IB Physics Tutor in Dubai Creek Harbour

Searching for an IB Physics tutor in Dubai Creek Harbour usually means one thing: a Physics grade has slipped and nobody within driving distance seems to know the difference between Paper 2 and Paper 3. Creek Harbour is a young district with very few schools inside its own boundary, so the pool of DP Physics specialists who happen to live nearby is small. IB Gram answers that honestly. We match your child to a Diploma Programme Physics specialist and teach one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time, beginning with one free trial lesson and no card details.

  • Matched on the Physics syllabus your child sits, HL or SL, never on postcode
  • Lessons run live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time
  • One free 45-minute trial lesson, no card details and no obligation after it
  • Tutors teach and give feedback on IA work; they never write any part of it

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Creek Harbour

Is there anyone near Dubai Creek Harbour who actually knows the IB Physics syllabus?

That is the real question behind the search, so here is the direct answer. Dubai Creek Harbour is a new waterfront district built along the Ras Al Khor side of the creek, and it does not yet contain a large cluster of IB World Schools inside its own master plan. Families living in Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate, Address Harbour Point and the surrounding towers drive out of the district for school, mostly towards Al Jaddaf, Nad Al Sheba, Al Garhoud and Sobha Hartland. The number of qualified Diploma Programme Physics teachers who both live within twenty minutes of your tower and have free evening hours is, realistically, very small. Anyone who tells you otherwise is describing a marketing area, not a staffing reality.

There is a second problem that parents discover only after paying for a few sessions. Physics tutoring is widely advertised, but Diploma Programme Physics is a specific qualification with its own command terms, its own data booklet, a 1.5-hour Paper 1 split into a multiple-choice section and a data-analysis section, and an internal assessment marked against five named criteria. A tutor who knows A Level Physics or CBSE Class 12 Physics well can still mark an IB investigation incorrectly, because the IB does not reward the same things. The commonest symptom is a student who leaves tutoring with better algebra and the same grade.

IB Gram does not solve this by pretending to have a Physics teacher in every district. We solve it by removing distance from the matching decision altogether. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, so the constraint becomes whether a tutor has taught your child's exact course rather than whether they can reach Creek Harbour before the Al Khail Road evening build-up. A Creek Harbour family gets a Physics HL specialist who has marked dozens of investigations against criteria Personal Engagement through Communication, instead of the nearest available generalist.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visiting is a service we run only in India, and we state that on every UAE page rather than letting a parent find out after booking. If your firm preference is a tutor physically at your dining table in Creek Beach, this is not the right service and we would rather say so in the first paragraph than the eighth. What we do offer, and what the rest of this page sets out in detail, is screen-shared Physics teaching where the whiteboard, the graph and the marked-up past paper are all saved and sent to you afterwards.

The rest of the page is written to let you check us rather than trust us. There is a table of what the Dubai market charges for Physics tutoring at each tier, with the source of every figure. There is a table of the ten questions to ask any prospective Physics tutor, with the answer a genuine DP specialist gives and the answer that tells you to walk away. There is the assessment structure with real weightings, a section on exactly where Creek Harbour students lose Physics marks, the academic-honesty boundary around the IA, and the regulator and equivalency facts that affect your child's paperwork long after the exam.

At a glance

  • Creek Harbour has few schools inside its own boundary; the nearest IB cohorts sit in Al Jaddaf, Nad Al Sheba, Al Garhoud and Sobha Hartland
  • IB Physics is assessed across Paper 1A, Paper 1B, Paper 2, Paper 3 and a single internal investigation
  • HL carries roughly double the SL teaching hours and adds additional-higher-level material in every topic
  • Market rates for specialist IB Physics tutoring in Dubai run around AED 200-450 per hour (Bestimate, TutorChase, October 2026)
  • All IB Gram lessons for UAE families are delivered online, one-to-one; home visits are an India-only service
  • A tutor may teach, question and give written feedback on an investigation; a tutor may never write it

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Physics does not begin in the Diploma Programme. Most Creek Harbour students who struggle in DP1 Physics arrive from a Middle Years Programme science course or an IGCSE Physics course, and the gap between those and DP Physics is predictable enough to be taught around. These are the programme stages we cover and what each one actually demands.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13 · DP1 and DP2

Diploma Programme Physics

Physics in the Diploma Programme is sat at Higher or Standard Level. Both share a common core organised around measurement, mechanics, thermal physics, waves, electricity and magnetism, circular motion and gravitation, atomic and nuclear physics, and energy production. Higher Level adds further material inside each of those themes and a substantially larger mathematical load, particularly in fields, induction and quantum phenomena. Assessment is three external papers plus one internal investigation of 3,000 words or fewer.

Creek Harbour students mostly sit DP Physics at schools in Al Jaddaf, Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Al Garhoud, all regulated by KHDA. Because those schools set their own internal investigation deadlines, usually in the second term of DP1 or the first term of DP2, two Creek Harbour neighbours in the same tower can be on completely different Physics timelines. We work from your child's school deadline sheet, not a generic one.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme Sciences

MYP Sciences is assessed against four criteria rather than papers: knowing and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflecting on the impacts of science. Students are graded 1-8 on each. The programme builds investigation design and data handling early, which is precisely the skill the DP Physics internal assessment later rewards, but it does not build the algebraic fluency that DP Physics Paper 2 assumes.

The MYP-to-DP Physics step is the single most common reason a Creek Harbour parent contacts us in October of DP1. A student who scored 7s against MYP criteria can still find the first DP Physics test hard, because MYP rarely demands rearranging a formula under timed conditions. We treat that as a mathematics gap inside a physics course and close it with targeted work on substitution, units and significant figures before touching new topics.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Physics (pre-DP route)

Many Creek Harbour families follow a British-curriculum school to Year 11 and then move into the IB Diploma. Cambridge IGCSE Physics is syllabus 0625 and Pearson's International GCSE Physics is 4PH1. Both separate into a core and an extended or higher tier at Cambridge, and both demand practical skills assessed on paper rather than in a lab. The grades matter for DP route choice: a student entering DP Physics HL from IGCSE core content usually needs catch-up on electricity and on graph interpretation.

For British schools licensed by KHDA in and around Al Jaddaf and Al Garhoud, the IGCSE route feeds both A Level and the IB Diploma. Cambridge runs its IGCSE exams in a June series and a November series for UAE centres, and Pearson Edexcel runs May/June and November. The March series is offered to India only and does not apply to your child, whatever an aggregator site tells you.

DP CoreAges 16-19 · DP1 and DP2

Physics internal assessment and extended essay support

The Physics internal investigation is worth 20% of the final Physics grade at both levels and is marked by the school against criteria the IB names by letter and title. A Physics extended essay is a separate 4,000-word research piece supervised by the school. Both are the student's own work. Our role is to teach the methodology, question the research design, explain what each criterion rewards and give written feedback on drafts the student has written.

Creek Harbour sits beside the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary and a working creek, which generates genuinely good local physics investigations: tidal data, salinity and density, sound attenuation across open water, solar irradiance on the tower facades. We will happily help a student interrogate whether such a question is measurable to the precision the IB expects. We will not supply a topic list and we will not write a word of the report.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Physics is the page you came for, but most Creek Harbour families eventually ask about a second subject. These are the IB courses we cover for this district, described by what the assessment actually tests rather than by topic lists a school website already gives you.

Physics HL

Higher Level

Three papers and one investigation. Paper 1 splits into multiple choice and a data-analysis section; Paper 2 is extended response; Paper 3 covers experimental technique and the option material. HL marks are lost most often on fields and induction, where sign conventions and direction arguments carry as much credit as the arithmetic.

Physics SL

Standard Level

The same core themes with the additional-higher-level content removed and a lighter mathematical demand. SL students lose marks disproportionately on definitions and on explaining rather than calculating. A command term like 'outline' asks for a different answer length from 'explain', and SL papers punish the difference.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The route most DP Physics students take, because the calculus and trigonometry overlap directly with mechanics and waves. Proof, sequences and the HL calculus option are where marks disappear. A Physics student who is weak in AA almost always presents as weak in Physics Paper 2 first.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics-led, with a graphical and modelling emphasis and a heavier technology requirement. Workable alongside Physics SL. Students should check the prerequisite pages of any engineering degree they are considering before choosing AI over AA, because some faculties specify the AA route.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Commonly paired with Physics by Creek Harbour students aiming at engineering or medicine. Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms account for most lost marks. Chemistry shares the Physics problem of a 20% internal investigation marked at school against stated criteria.

Biology

HL and SL

Heavy on terminology precision and on command-term discipline. The difference between 'state', 'outline' and 'explain' decides several marks per paper. Students who enjoy the Physics investigation often find the Biology investigation harder because variables are less clean.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Pairs naturally with Physics for students heading towards engineering. Assessment includes a substantial solution-development project. Marks are lost on documenting the design process rather than on writing code, which surprises confident programmers.

Design Technology

HL and SL

Offered by a minority of Dubai IB schools and genuinely useful for a Physics student. The design cycle and the extended coursework reward the same evidence discipline the Physics investigation does, so support transfers across both.

Economics

HL and SL

A frequent third subject for Physics students who want a non-science option that still uses graphs and data. The internal assessment is a set of commentaries on published news articles, each with a strict word limit and a required diagram.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Includes an individual oral assessed on the student's own chosen extracts. Physics students often treat this as the subject that will look after itself and then lose points on the paper 1 guided analysis, where structure matters more than vocabulary.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

A 1,600-word essay on a prescribed title plus an exhibition of three objects. Physics students have an advantage here because the natural-sciences area of knowledge gives them concrete examples, provided they move past 'science is objective' as a claim.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every Creek Harbour Physics request. All of them are delivered live over video, one-to-one unless stated. Choosing between them is mostly a question of how far away the next assessment is and how much of the course is genuinely missing.

Weekly one-to-one Physics

A fixed hour each week with the same tutor through the term, following your child's school scheme of work. This is the format for a student whose Physics is slipping steadily rather than collapsing, and it is the only format that reliably fixes underlying mathematics inside a physics course. Scheduling is usually easiest from 6pm Gulf Standard Time for Creek Harbour families, once the Nad Al Sheba and Al Quoz buses have run.

  • Same tutor each week, with a running record of topics covered
  • Session notes, annotated whiteboard and worked solutions sent after each lesson
  • Paced against the school's own scheme of work, not a generic syllabus order
  • Typically 60 or 90 minutes; 90 suits HL students working through Paper 2 questions

Internal assessment and extended essay mentoring

Short, intensive blocks timed around the school's own investigation deadlines. The tutor works on research question precision, variable control, uncertainty treatment, graph choice and the five assessment criteria, through questioning and written feedback on drafts the student has produced. The student writes every word. This boundary is not a disclaimer; it is what distinguishes legitimate support from the completed-coursework services that appear in the same search results.

  • Research question interrogated for measurability before data collection begins
  • Uncertainty and error analysis taught against the data booklet conventions
  • Written feedback mapped to the criterion the student is losing marks under
  • No drafting, no ghost-writing, no supplied topics or datasets

Exam-run intensive

A compressed series in the final weeks before a session, built around timed past-paper work rather than content delivery. The tutor diagnoses from a marked paper, works the specific question types that are costing marks, and drills command terms and data-booklet navigation under time pressure. Useful from roughly eight weeks out; below three weeks the honest advice is usually to consolidate what is already secure rather than open new topics.

  • Diagnosis from a real marked script, not from a parent's description
  • Timed sections with mark-scheme comparison in the same session
  • Command-term drilling: state, outline, explain, deduce, determine
  • A written list of what to revise between sessions, prioritised

Small-group Physics, two to four students

Offered where a group of Creek Harbour or Al Jaddaf students from the same school and the same level want to share a session and a cost. It works for exam-technique and past-paper work where students are at a similar standard. It works poorly for closing an individual mathematics gap, because the pace has to serve everyone. We will say which of the two your child needs after the trial.

  • Same school, same level, same paper focus, or the group does not work
  • Lower cost per student than one-to-one at the same tutor tier
  • Best suited to past-paper and technique work in the exam run-in
  • Not recommended for a student with gaps from an earlier year

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Creek Harbour

01

What a Creek Harbour parent is really asking, and the honest answer

  • DP Physics is taught in a minority of Dubai's 227 private schools, so the specialist pool is small emirate-wide
  • A general physics tutor can raise confidence and still miss IB command terms and investigation criteria
  • Online delivery replaces 'who is nearest' with 'who has taught this course'
  • If no specialist is free, we say so and give a date rather than booking a substitute quietly

The literal answer first. There is no large pool of Diploma Programme Physics specialists resident in Dubai Creek Harbour, because the district is new, its school provision is still filling in, and DP Physics teachers are a small professional group across the whole emirate. Dubai has 227 private schools and the International Baccalaureate accounts for about 7% of private-school enrolment, which means DP Physics is taught in a few dozen schools rather than hundreds. Spread those teachers across Dubai's geography and the number with free evening hours inside your district is close to zero.

What families do next usually falls into one of three patterns. Some hire whoever is nearest and advertises physics, which produces a tutor who is competent in school physics and unfamiliar with IB command terms and the internal investigation criteria. Some hire a university student at the bottom of the market, which can work for arithmetic confidence and rarely works for Paper 3. Some decide tutoring is not available locally and wait, which is the costliest option because DP Physics compounds: an unsecured treatment of uncertainty in DP1 becomes a lost Paper 1B section in DP2.

The fourth option is to stop treating geography as a selection criterion. Once the lesson runs over live video, the question becomes which tutor has taught this exact course, marked this exact investigation and sat with students through this exact paper. That is a far better filter than driving distance, and it is the whole argument for the format. The table below sets out what we can and cannot cover for a Creek Harbour family, including what happens when a specialist is not immediately free, because availability transparency is something no competitor page in this market publishes.

How IB Physics is actually assessed, paper by paper

Before any tutoring decision, it helps to know where the marks sit. IB Diploma Physics is assessed through three external examination papers and one internally marked investigation. The investigation is worth 20% of the final grade at both Higher and Standard Level, which means a fifth of your child's Physics result is decided months before the examination session and is marked by their own teacher against published criteria. Families routinely discover this late, after the window for improving it has closed.

The external papers divide the work differently from most national systems. Paper 1 is split: one section is multiple choice across the whole course, the other is a data-analysis section built on an unseen experiment. Paper 2 is extended response, where structure and command-term discipline earn marks that pure calculation does not. Paper 3 covers experimental technique and the course's optional material, and it is where students with strong content knowledge and weak laboratory experience are exposed, because the questions assume familiarity with real apparatus behaviour.

A Higher Level student carries the same structure with more content inside every theme and significantly heavier mathematics. The practical consequence for tutoring is that HL and SL need different session shapes. An HL student usually needs 90-minute sessions to work a full Paper 2 question set with review; an SL student often makes faster progress in 60-minute sessions focused on definitions, command terms and data handling. The table gives the structure in the form worth pinning to a fridge.

Ten questions that reveal whether a Physics tutor knows the IB

This is the section to use whether or not you book with us. A parent cannot assess physics competence directly, but a parent can absolutely assess whether someone knows the IB's machinery, and that distinction is where most of the money in this market is wasted. The questions below take about four minutes to ask on a trial call, and each one has an answer a genuine Diploma Programme Physics teacher gives without hesitation.

Notice what the questions do not ask. They do not ask about qualifications in the abstract, because a physics degree says nothing about IB familiarity. They do not ask about results, because any figure quoted without a sample size, a date and a method is unverifiable and we do not publish such figures ourselves. They ask about the specific, checkable mechanics of the course: the number of assessment criteria, the data booklet, the word limit, the split inside Paper 1, what the tutor would do with a research question that is not measurable.

If a prospective tutor gives three red-flag answers, the problem is not that they are a poor teacher. The problem is that they will teach your child physics while the IB marks them on something adjacent to physics. That gap is invisible on a progress report and obvious in a final grade. Ask the questions before the first payment, not after the first mock.

One more thing worth asking, because it costs nothing and tells you a great deal: ask what the tutor would want to see before the first lesson. A specialist asks for the school's scheme of work and a recently marked script, because those two documents locate the problem precisely. A generalist asks for the syllabus, which is publicly available and tells them nothing about your child. The difference between those two answers is the difference between a tutor who will teach your child and a tutor who will teach the course at your child.

Where Creek Harbour Physics students actually lose marks

  • Uncertainty treatment and significant figures, usually taught once in DP1 and never revisited
  • Graph work: axis scales, gradient extraction, error bars, line of best fit judgement
  • Command terms, where the cost is answering the wrong question well
  • Data-booklet navigation speed, which is a practised skill and not a knowledge gap
  • Investigation questions set too broadly to produce conclusive data
  • Sign conventions and direction arguments in fields and induction at Higher Level

Across the students we support in Dubai's central corridor, lost Physics marks cluster in a small number of places, and almost none of them are the topics parents expect. Quantum physics and nuclear physics look frightening on a syllabus and are usually taught carefully because teachers know they frighten people. The marks disappear in the unglamorous material that gets covered quickly in DP1 and never revisited: uncertainties, significant figures, unit prefixes, and the mechanics of reading a gradient off a graph with a scale nobody chose sensibly.

The second cluster is command terms. A student who writes a correct and complete physical explanation in answer to 'state' has wasted time they needed elsewhere; a student who writes one line in answer to 'explain' has thrown away marks that required no new knowledge. This is pure technique, it is learnable in a handful of sessions, and it is the highest-yield intervention available to a DP2 student in the final term. It also transfers: the same discipline recovers marks in Chemistry and Biology.

The third cluster is the investigation, and it is the most expensive because it cannot be fixed late. A research question that is too broad produces data that will not support a conclusion, and no amount of careful writing recovers that. A student whose investigation question was settled in a rushed week before a school deadline is usually capped by that decision, whatever they do afterwards. For Creek Harbour students the local environment offers unusually tractable options, from the creek's tidal range to solar incidence on tower facades, but tractable is not the same as measurable to the precision the criteria want.

What Physics tutoring costs around Dubai Creek Harbour

Start from the cheapest end, because that is where most families begin and where the decision is usually made. A university student tutoring online advertises from roughly AED 45 to 65 per hour on EdFlik and from about AED 33 to 52 on Tutopiya, figures those providers publish themselves. For arithmetic confidence in MYP science, that is reasonable value. For DP Physics Paper 3, it is not, and the reason is specific rather than snobbish: the course's marks sit in criteria and command terms a tutor learns by teaching the qualification, not by having passed it.

Move one tier up and the published numbers change shape. Unitors lists IGCSE tutoring from AED 150 per hour and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270. Bestimate's Dubai 2026 rate table puts specialist IB, IGCSE and A Level tutoring at AED 200 to 450 and above, with in-home one-to-one visits at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors reaching AED 500. At the top, BartyED publishes AED 650 for a named or examiner-led tutor. Monthly packages appear in the market at around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

What is worth noticing is the travel premium hiding inside those bands. The gap between the online specialist band and the in-home band is not a quality gap; it is largely the tutor's unpaid driving time priced into your hour. For a Creek Harbour address that premium is real, because almost any tutor reaching you crosses either the Ras Al Khor approaches or Al Khail Road in the evening. IB Gram does not publish an hourly price list on these pages, because our matching depends on level, subject and frequency. We publish the market so you can judge any quote, including ours, and the trial lesson is the point at which you see the teaching before any payment.

Online Physics teaching versus a tutor driving to Creek Harbour

This comparison deserves a straight treatment rather than a sales pitch, because in-home tutoring has genuine advantages and a Creek Harbour parent should know what they are. A tutor in the room can read a child's face, confiscate a phone, and hold the attention of a twelve-year-old who will not sit still for a screen. For younger students and for students with particular attention needs, that matters, and we would not argue otherwise.

For Diploma Programme Physics specifically, the balance moves the other way, and the reasons are concrete. The pool of tutors available to a Creek Harbour address is bounded by the evening traffic radius; the pool available over video is bounded by nothing except timezone. The screen is a better teaching surface for this subject than a dining table, because graphs, simulations, past-paper scans and annotated mark schemes can all be shared, saved and sent afterwards. And the travel premium in the market rate buys driving, not teaching.

To be unambiguous: IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE. Our tutors do not come to Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate or any other UAE address. Home tutoring is a service we provide only in India. We target the phrase because it is what parents type, and we answer the question honestly rather than taking a booking under a misunderstanding. The table compares the three realistic formats on the measures that decide the choice.

There is also a point about continuity that parents raise after a term. Creek Harbour families travel, and many spend part of the summer and part of the winter break outside the UAE. A tutor who drives to your address cannot follow you to Europe or South Asia for three weeks, so the arrangement pauses and the student loses momentum at exactly the point in the calendar when coursework deadlines sit. A video lesson follows the family, which matters most in the DP1 summer when the investigation is usually being written.

  • Allowed: teaching method, questioning the research design, explaining criteria, written feedback on the student's own draft
  • Not allowed: choosing the question, supplying data, drafting, editing to completion, filling a template
  • We do not host or distribute past papers, mark schemes or syllabus PDFs; we link the official source
  • Malpractice consequences land on the student's diploma, which is why the boundary is not negotiable

A parent under deadline pressure in the final weeks of DP1 can rationalise that purchase in about thirty seconds, and it is the single most damaging thing that can happen to a Diploma candidate. IB academic-honesty rules treat submitted work that is not the student's own as malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student, not the vendor.

So here is where the line sits, stated as plainly as we can. A tutor may teach experimental method. A tutor may ask questions that force a student to narrow a vague research question themselves. A tutor may explain what each assessment criterion rewards, using the IB's own published criterion titles. A tutor may read a draft the student has written and give written feedback identifying which criterion is losing marks and why. A tutor may teach uncertainty propagation, graph selection and the data booklet conventions that the report will need.

A tutor may not choose the research question. A tutor may not supply data. A tutor may not write, rewrite or edit-to-completion any part of the report, including the abstract or the conclusion. A tutor may not provide a template to be filled in, which is ghost-writing with extra steps. We also do not reproduce or distribute IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables; we reference them, cite the official source and link to it, because reproducing them is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, a malpractice exposure. If a service in this market offers you anything on the second list, that is the signal to close the tab.

The exam run counted backwards from the May session

Almost no competitor page in this market mentions an exam session at all, which is strange, because the session is the only fixed point in the year. UAE IB schools sit the May session. We deliberately do not publish specific IB examination or results dates on these pages: the IB's own site blocks automated checking, so any date we restated would be unverified, and an unverified date that a parent plans around is worse than no date. Confirm your child's exact dates with their school's IB coordinator, who receives them directly.

What can be published is the shape of the year, because the shape does not change. Work backwards from the session and the sequence is: option and level choices settled in the term before DP1 begins; investigation question agreed and data collected in DP1 or early DP2, on a deadline the school sets; extended essay drafts through DP1 into DP2; mock examinations typically in the second term of DP2; final internal deadlines for all coursework ahead of the school's upload window; then the session itself, results to schools, and the enquiry-upon-results window for any remark.

For Cambridge and Pearson, real sourced dates do exist and are worth knowing if your child sits IGCSE on the way to the Diploma. Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level in a June series and a November series, with every centre allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November; its November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Always open the live official timetable rather than trusting a restated date, including ours.

KHDA, the mandatory UAE subjects and what they do to a Physics timetable

  • KHDA regulates Dubai private schools and inspects annually across six bands (u.ae)
  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory whatever the licensed curriculum
  • Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, with at least 25 minutes advised per mandatory lesson
  • Separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs are required in Arabic first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies
  • IB Gram claims no KHDA, MoE, IB or Cambridge approval, licence or partnership of any kind

Your child's school is licensed and inspected by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding down to Very Weak, and the published report for any Dubai private school is worth reading before you blame a tutor-shaped problem on your child. Across the UAE the regulator map is complete and worth knowing: ADEK in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, SPEA in Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education supervising Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

The point that affects Physics directly is the mandatory-subject requirement. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA calculates instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit, allows schools to vary lesson length provided the total weekly time is met, and advises that any mandatory-subject lesson should be at least 25 minutes. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited.

Read that as a timetable fact rather than a policy note. Those mandatory hours sit inside the same school week as Physics, and they are not optional for your child even in a DP cohort. That is part of why a Creek Harbour DP2 student can genuinely have less Physics contact time than a parent assumes, and why evening tutoring frequently has to do consolidation work the school week could not fit. To be explicit about our own standing: IB Gram holds no KHDA permit, approval or accreditation, and we are not a licensed training institute. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation issued to institutes with premises, which we do not have and do not claim.

10

Permits, and how to check whether a tutor may legally teach your child

Private tutoring in the UAE is permitted and regulated, and a parent can verify compliance in a single question. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service is listed as 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', with a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Two things follow. First, anyone describing the permit as expensive, slow or optional is wrong on all three counts, and that misdescription is usually a sign they do not hold one. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so no credible page will quote you an amount, and any page that does has invented it. Second, the permit carries a code of conduct. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's own conduct rules bar serving students affiliated with the teacher's school. This is press-reported, so verify the current ADEK wording before relying on it.

The practical reading for a Creek Harbour family is simple. Never arrange for your child's own class teacher to tutor them privately for payment, however convenient it looks, because the exposure sits with the teacher and the awkwardness lands on your child. Ask any independent tutor directly whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition permit; it is free and quick to obtain, so there is no sympathetic reason not to have one. And treat a tutor's willingness to answer that question at all as information in itself.

MoE equivalency: the paperwork a Physics student needs later

A Physics grade is not the only thing that decides what happens after school in the UAE. Certificate equivalency through the Ministry of Education is what allows a secondary qualification to be recognised for university admission and employment here, and it catches families by surprise because almost nobody in this market mentions it. It is worth understanding in DP1, not in the summer after results, because some of its requirements are tests your child must sit and pass separately.

For the British track the requirements are documented. A student must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade, and must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. That five-subject rule is worth holding on to, because at least one ranking competitor page in this market states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects, which is wrong.

For the American track, English proficiency requires a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT; mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. For the IB specifically, we publish no points threshold, because we have not read one on moe.gov.ae and an invented figure on a page like this would be repeated by parents as fact. Verify the IB position with the Ministry of Education directly or with your school's university counsellor. Equivalency is a process the authority performs, not something IB Gram performs, guarantees or accelerates, and tutoring is not a requirement for it.

Getting started from Creek Harbour, including what can go wrong

  • Send the school, the course, the level and one recently marked Physics script
  • Free 45-minute trial, no card details, nothing to cancel if you stop there
  • Diagnostic feedback after the trial, including when tutoring is not the right answer
  • Tutor change at no extra cost if the match is wrong
  • No grade promises, no guarantees, and no statistics we cannot show you the method for

The useful version of this section includes the failure modes, because every tutoring arrangement has them and a page that pretends otherwise is not telling you anything. What we ask for first is specific: your child's school, the exact course and level, the school's scheme of work if you can get it, and one recently marked Physics script. The marked script is the single most valuable thing a parent can send. A tutor can read a student's actual problem off a marked paper in ten minutes, and cannot read it at all off the sentence 'she is struggling with physics'.

Then there is a free trial lesson of about 45 minutes, with no card details taken and nothing to cancel if you do not continue. The trial is diagnostic rather than promotional: the tutor works a real question with your child and then tells you what they found, including when the answer is that tutoring is not the right intervention. Occasionally the honest finding is that the student needs a conversation with their school about level, or needs mathematics support rather than physics support. We would rather say that than sell twelve sessions against the wrong problem.

Where it goes wrong, it usually goes wrong in one of three ways. The specialist a student needs is not free at the hour the family wants, and we offer a date instead of quietly substituting someone else. The personality match is wrong, which is nobody's fault and is fixed by changing tutor at no additional cost rather than by persevering. Or expectations are mismatched: a parent books four sessions in May expecting a grade movement that a year of missed foundations will not give up in four hours. We will say so at the start. No tutor can promise a grade, and we never will.

Where we tutor

Dubai Creek Harbour and the districts around it

Creek Harbour does not stand alone. It sits in the central corridor of Dubai, between Al Jaddaf and Ras Al Khor, and your child's school, friends and tutoring timetable are all shaped by the districts next door. These are the neighbourhoods whose families we most often teach alongside Creek Harbour.

Dubai Creek Harbour

A master-planned waterfront district including Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate and the Address Harbour Point towers. Few schools within the boundary, so almost every secondary student commutes out, usually north towards Al Jaddaf or south towards Nad Al Sheba.

Al Jaddaf

Directly across the creek and the nearest significant school cluster, home to an IB continuum school and several healthcare and hospitality towers. A ten-minute drive outside peak, considerably longer at school-run times on Al Khail Road.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront's low-rise neighbour, sharing the same bridge approaches as Creek Harbour. Families here face the same shortage of in-district schooling and often enrol in Al Garhoud or Oud Metha.

Business Bay

Dense tower living with a large expatriate secondary cohort and no large campus inside it. Students commute to Downtown, Al Quoz or Nad Al Sheba, which makes a 4pm session start unrealistic for most of them.

Downtown Dubai

Adjacent via Ras Al Khor Road. Parents here often work within walking distance of home, which makes evening sessions after 7pm easier to supervise than they are in commuter districts further out.

Sobha Hartland

A villa and townhouse community inside Mohammed Bin Rashid City with two schools on site, making it one of the few nearby areas where a student can finish school and be home within fifteen minutes.

Nad Al Sheba

Home to large established campuses including an IB continuum school and a selective British school. Many Creek Harbour students make this drive daily, arriving home closer to 4.30pm than 3.30pm.

Meydan

Between Nad Al Sheba and Business Bay, with a growing residential population and limited local schooling. Session timing here is dictated by the Meydan bridge approach rather than by distance.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

A mixed industrial and residential belt that holds several well-known schools. The commute from Creek Harbour is manageable in the morning and slow in the afternoon, which pushes realistic tutoring to 6pm or later.

Al Garhoud

An older established area on the Deira side with a long-standing international school and good creek-side access. Many Creek Harbour families chose their tower specifically for this school run.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Creek Harbour

Al Jaddaf, Culture Village and the creek crossings

The closest cluster to Creek Harbour and the one most families use. These schools run IB and British curricula under KHDA licence, and between them cover the full continuum from early years to Diploma Programme. Physics teaching capacity varies considerably between them, which is why two neighbours can report very different experiences of the same subject.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Dubai Gem Private School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Al Ittihad Private School, Al Mamzar

Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Meydan

The southern option for Creek Harbour families, reached via Ras Al Khor Road or Al Khail Road. This cluster holds some of Dubai's largest IB cohorts and several selective British schools, and it is where most of the district's DP Physics students are enrolled. School days here typically end between 2.45pm and 3.15pm, with buses arriving back at Creek Harbour towers from about 4pm.

  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Hartland International School
  • Sobha Hartland Greens community schools
  • Kent College Dubai

Downtown, Business Bay and Al Quoz

A third group used by Creek Harbour families whose parents work in the DIFC or Business Bay and prefer a school near the office rather than near the home. Journey times are short in distance and long in practice, and the afternoon return is the main constraint on when a Physics session can start.

  • Dubai International Academy
  • GEMS Wellington Primary School
  • Horizon English School
  • Safa Community School
  • The Arbor School

Named schools are listed as local ecosystem context only. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school named on this page, and students we support attend a far wider set of schools than those listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the course, not just the subject

We ask for the school, whether it is Physics HL or SL, which year of the Diploma, and the school's own deadline sheet for the investigation. Two Creek Harbour students in the same tower can be on different timelines. Matching to the course rather than the subject is what stops a competent tutor teaching the wrong thing well.

  2. 02

    Send one marked script

A recently marked Physics test or past paper with the teacher's annotations tells a specialist more in ten minutes than a half-hour phone call. It shows whether the problem is content, command terms, uncertainty handling or timing, and those four problems have four different remedies.

  3. 03

Meet the matched specialist on a free trial

About 45 minutes, live over video, no card details taken. The tutor works a real Physics question with your child rather than presenting credentials. You then hear what they diagnosed, in plain language, including the cases where our honest view is that tutoring is not what is needed.

  4. 04

Agree a shape, not an open-ended commitment

Weekly for a slipping grade, a short block for the investigation, an intensive run for the final weeks. We will tell you which we think fits and why, and the shape can change mid-term when the school's timetable changes, which it does.

  5. 05

Schedule around the real Creek Harbour afternoon

School buses from Nad Al Sheba, Al Quoz and Al Garhoud reach Creek Harbour towers from about 4pm. Sessions from 4.30pm onwards work; 3.30pm rarely does. We fix a recurring slot on Gulf Standard Time and send notes, annotations and worked solutions after each lesson.

  6. 06

Review against the next real assessment

Progress is judged on the next school test, mock or marked investigation draft, not on a feeling. If the next marked piece has not moved and the tutor cannot explain why in specific terms, we change the tutor rather than extend the package.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the syllabus, not the map

A Creek Harbour address limits which tutors can reach you and tells you nothing about who knows DP Physics. Teaching over live video removes the geographic filter entirely, so the selection criterion becomes whether the tutor has taught this exact course and marked this exact investigation.

Availability stated before you pay

If no Physics HL specialist is free at your preferred hour, we give you a date. No competitor page in this market publishes a coverage limit, and several conceal non-UAE delivery behind an overseas phone number. We would rather lose a booking than take one under a misunderstanding.

Market pricing published with sources

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the month it was read. Three of six competitor pages in this cluster publish no price at all, and the two that do quote a currency UAE families do not transact in.

A hard line on coursework

Our tutors teach method, question research design, explain the assessment criteria and give written feedback on the student's own drafts. They do not write, draft or complete any assessed work. Services selling finished Internal Assessments appear in these same search results; that route risks the student's diploma.

The regulator facts, cited and not borrowed

KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE permits and Ministry of Education equivalency are explained here with the source named, and we claim approval from none of them. Equivalency in particular goes unmentioned by whole clusters of competing pages, and one publishes the wrong subject count.

No promises we cannot keep

No guaranteed grades, no score promises, no satisfaction percentages without a sample size, a date and a method. The things we will commit to are a free diagnostic trial, a named specialist, lesson materials sent to you afterwards, and a tutor change at no extra cost if the match is wrong.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Creek Harbour: your questions answered

Is there an IB Physics tutor near me in Dubai Creek Harbour?+

Not reliably, and that is the honest answer. Creek Harbour is a new district with few schools inside its boundary, and Diploma Programme Physics teachers are a small group across the whole of Dubai, where the IB accounts for about 7% of private-school enrolment. The chance that a DP Physics specialist lives within twenty minutes of your tower and has free evening hours is low. IB Gram's answer is to drop distance as a criterion: lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so your child is matched to a tutor who has taught their exact course and level instead of to whoever is nearest.

Do your tutors come to homes in Dubai Creek Harbour?+

No. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, including Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate and the Address Harbour Point towers. Home visiting is a service we run only in India. For UAE families every lesson is delivered live, one-to-one, over video. We target the phrase 'home tutor' because it is what parents search for, and then answer the question rather than take a booking under a misunderstanding. If having a tutor physically present is a firm requirement for your family, we are not the right service and we would rather say so now.

How much does an IB Physics tutor cost around Dubai Creek Harbour?+

The market, not our price list. Budget online tutoring advertises from about AED 45-65 per hour on EdFlik and AED 33-52 on Tutopiya. Qualified online subject tutors sit around AED 150-300, with Unitors listing IB from AED 200. Specialist IB, IGCSE and A Level tutoring runs AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase quoting AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai 2026 table reaching 450-plus. In-home visits cost AED 180-500 because travel time is inside the rate. Premium named tutors reach AED 650, per BartyED. All figures were read in October 2026 from the providers' own pages.

What is the difference between IB Physics HL and SL for tutoring purposes?+

Both levels share the same core themes and the same 20% internal investigation, but Higher Level adds further content inside every theme and a much heavier mathematical load, particularly in fields, induction and quantum phenomena. In practice this changes the session shape rather than the subject. HL students usually need 90 minutes to work a full Paper 2 question set with proper review afterwards. SL students often progress faster in 60-minute sessions concentrating on definitions, command-term discipline and data handling, because that is where SL marks are most commonly lost.

Can a tutor help with my child's Physics internal investigation?+

Yes, within a boundary we state plainly. A tutor may teach experimental method, question the research design until the student narrows it themselves, explain what each of the five assessment criteria rewards, teach uncertainty propagation and graph choice, and give written feedback on drafts the student has written. A tutor may not choose the research question, supply data, or write, rewrite or edit any part of the report. Services in these same search results sell completed Internal Assessments; submitting that work is malpractice under IB rules and the consequence falls on your child's diploma.

How many sessions a week does a DP Physics student usually need?+

Most Creek Harbour families start with one hour a week and adjust after about a month. One session weekly is enough to keep pace with the school's scheme of work and to close small gaps as they appear. Two becomes sensible when a student is a term behind, is carrying Physics HL alongside Maths AA HL, or is inside the final eight weeks before a session. Short intensive blocks make sense around an investigation deadline. We will give a view after the trial lesson rather than before, because the marked script usually changes the recommendation.

My child's Physics exam is six weeks away. Is it worth starting now?+

Usually yes, provided the goal is realistic. Six weeks is enough to drill command terms, practise data-booklet navigation, sit timed Paper 1 sections with mark-scheme review, and fix uncertainty handling. Those are the highest-yield items available late and they often move marks noticeably. Six weeks is not enough to rebuild two years of missed foundations, and no honest tutor will suggest otherwise. What we will not do is promise a grade. After the trial you will get a specific answer about what six weeks can and cannot reach for your child.

Which schools do Dubai Creek Harbour students actually attend?+

Because the district has limited school provision inside its own boundary, almost every secondary student commutes out. The nearest cluster sits across the creek in Al Jaddaf and Al Garhoud, which includes an IB continuum school and several long-established international schools. The other major direction is south towards Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Meydan, which hold some of Dubai's largest IB cohorts and several selective British schools. A third group of families chooses Downtown, Business Bay or Al Quoz for proximity to work. All sit under KHDA regulation.

What time can a Physics session realistically start on a weekday?+

From about 4.30pm Gulf Standard Time for most Creek Harbour families. School days in the nearby clusters typically end between 2.45pm and 3.15pm, but buses from Nad Al Sheba, Al Quoz and Al Garhoud do not reach Creek Harbour towers until around 4pm, and the Ras Al Khor and Al Khail approaches are slow at that hour. A 3.30pm slot looks fine on paper and is missed in practice. Later slots from 6pm work well, and because the tutor has no commute, an evening start costs nothing extra in travel.

Is the tutor I hire for Creek Harbour legally allowed to teach privately?+

They need a permit, and you can verify it with one question. The private tuition work permit came in under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued by MoHRE, and is granted free of charge for two years. Registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18 are all listed as eligible. MoHRE quotes a two-working-day completion time through its app, website and e-services. Since it is free and fast, there is no sympathetic reason for a working tutor not to hold one. Operating without it attracts penalties under the applicable laws.

Should we ask a teacher from my child's own school to tutor them?+

Our advice is not to. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Treat that as press-reported detail and verify the current wording, but the direction of travel is unambiguous across the UAE. There is also a practical reason beyond compliance. The teacher who tutors your child is often the teacher who marks their internal investigation, and that is an uncomfortable position to put a sixteen-year-old in.

Is online Physics teaching genuinely as good as a tutor in the room?+

For Diploma Programme Physics, we think it is better, and for specific reasons rather than general ones. The screen is a superior teaching surface for this subject: graphs, simulations, scanned past papers and annotated mark schemes can all be shared, saved and sent afterwards, which a dining table cannot do. More importantly, the tutor pool stops being bounded by evening traffic. For a much younger student, or one with particular attention needs, a tutor physically present can hold focus better, and we would not argue the point. For DP Physics the balance is clear.

What is in the IB Physics data booklet and does it help?+

The data booklet supplies specific equations and physical constants for use in the examinations, which means the examination is not testing memorisation of formulae. It does test whether a student can find the right relationship quickly under time pressure, and that is a practised skill rather than knowledge. Students who have never worked systematically with the booklet lose minutes per paper hunting for an equation they know exists. We treat navigation as a drillable item in its own right, usually in the final weeks. The official booklet comes from the IB; we reference it rather than reproducing it.

Does the February exam series apply to my child in Dubai?+

No, and this one catches families out because aggregator websites repeat it carelessly. Cambridge International's February and March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. IB candidates in the UAE sit the May session. We publish no specific IB examination or results date on these pages, because the IB's own site cannot be verified automatically and a wrong date is something a parent plans a revision schedule around. Do I need to think about MoE equivalency while my child is still in DP1?+

It is worth understanding early, because parts of it are separate tests. For the British track, a student needs five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one A Level at E or two AS Levels at E. For the American track, SAT Math 450-plus and English via IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT reading-writing 450. For the IB we publish no points figure because we have not read one on moe.gov.ae. Verify with the Ministry; equivalency is their process, not ours.

The first tutor did not click with my son. What then?+

We move him to a different one, at no extra cost, and we do not ask you to persevere first. A mismatch between a teenager and a tutor is nobody's failing and is not solved by effort or by more hours. We prefer to judge the match against the next real piece of marked work rather than against a feeling: if a school test or an investigation draft has not shifted and the tutor cannot say precisely why, we treat that as our problem to fix. What we will not do is suggest a longer package in the hope that volume covers a matching error.

Start with a marked Physics script and one free lesson

If your child is in the Diploma Programme and Physics is the subject slipping, the fastest useful step is not a longer search for someone nearby. Send us the school, the level, and one recently marked Physics paper, and we will match a Diploma Programme Physics specialist who has taught that exact course. The trial lesson is free, lasts about 45 minutes, takes no card details and leaves nothing to cancel. Afterwards you get a plain diagnosis of what is actually costing marks, including the occasions when our answer is that tutoring is not the right intervention. All lessons for UAE families are delivered live and one-to-one online, on Gulf Standard Time.
