IGCSE Science Tutor in Dubai Creek Harbour

Hiring an IGCSE science tutor in Dubai Creek Harbour is a spending decision before it is an academic one, and the Dubai market makes it a hard one. Published rates run from about AED 33 an hour to AED 650, for work that looks identical in an advertisement. This page prices the market from the cheapest tier upwards, says what each tier genuinely buys for a Year 10 or Year 11 science student, and names the four ways families in this district most often waste money. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Creek Harbour

What Creek Harbour families pay for IGCSE science, and what it buys

Start with the cheapest option, because that is where most families begin and where the decision is usually settled. Tutopiya advertises online tutoring from about AED 33 to 52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65. At that price the tutor is typically a university student or a recent graduate, and for a Year 9 or Year 10 student who needs homework supervised and arithmetic steadied, it is defensible value. It becomes poor value at a specific point: when the problem is not understanding the science but producing it in the form an IGCSE paper rewards, under time, with the command term obeyed.

One tier up, published figures change shape. Unitors lists IGCSE tutoring from AED 150 an hour. TutorChase quotes AED 270. Bestimate's Dubai 2026 rate table puts specialist IGCSE, IB and A Level tutoring at AED 200 to 450 and above. In-home one-to-one visits are quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500, and BartyED publishes AED 650 for premium named tutoring. Three of the six competitor pages researched in this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai family transacts in.

What makes this difficult is that none of those tiers advertises itself differently. Every listing says experienced, qualified and results-driven. So the useful question is not what a tutor costs but what the price is actually buying, and for IGCSE science the answer is specific. The cheap tier buys supervision and confidence. The middle tier buys subject competence. The specialist tier buys knowledge of the paper structure, the tiering decision, the command terms and the practical assessment format for the exact syllabus code your child was entered for, which is where IGCSE science marks are genuinely won and lost.

Creek Harbour matters to this arithmetic in one particular way. The district is new and has limited school provision inside its own boundary, so families here commute to schools in Al Jaddaf, Al Garhoud, Nad Al Sheba and Al Quoz, and any tutor driving to a Creek Harbour tower in the late afternoon crosses the Ras Al Khor approaches at their worst. That driving time is inside the in-home hourly rate whether or not it is itemised. The gap between the online specialist band and the in-home band is, to a large extent, the price of someone's commute rather than the price of better teaching.

IB Gram publishes no hourly price list on these pages, because the right arrangement depends on level, subject count and frequency, and a single number would be less honest than none. What we publish is the market with its sources, so you can judge any quote including ours. Lessons for UAE families are delivered live, one-to-one, over video, on Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run only in India, and that is stated here rather than discovered later. The rest of this page covers where the money goes wrong, how the science routes differ in cost, what the boards actually do differently, and the entry and equivalency costs that sit behind the tutoring bill.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

IGCSE science is not one product, and the cost of supporting it depends almost entirely on which route your child's school entered them for. These are the routes we cover and what each one demands in hours.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Separate sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Three distinct qualifications, three sets of papers, three grades. Cambridge codes are 0610 Biology, 0620 Chemistry and 0625 Physics; Pearson's International GCSE equivalents are 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. This is the route for a student heading towards A Level or IB sciences, and it is the most expensive to support because tutoring hours multiply by subject rather than being shared across one course.

Most British-curriculum schools around Al Jaddaf, Al Garhoud and Nad Al Sheba enter stronger science students for separate sciences. For a Creek Harbour family that means deciding whether to fund one subject properly or three subjects thinly. Our consistent advice is one properly: a student with a secure method in Chemistry usually transfers that method into Physics on their own, whereas three hours a week spread thin tends to produce three unfinished conversations.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Combined and Coordinated Science

A single award covering biology, chemistry and physics content at reduced depth. Cambridge offers Coordinated Science as a double award, syllabus 0654, and Combined Science as a single award, 0653; Pearson offers an International GCSE Science (Double Award) route. Fewer papers and less content, which makes it cheaper to support, but it closes some A Level and IB Higher Level science routes, so the saving has a consequence worth checking before Year 10.

Dubai schools use these routes for students carrying a heavy subject load or needing a science award without three separate grades. For equivalency purposes, what counts is the five-subject rule rather than which science route was taken, but for A Level and IB Diploma entry individual schools set their own expectations. Ask the head of science directly rather than inferring it, before any tutoring budget is committed.

Pre-IGCSEAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Years 7 to 9 science foundations

The cheapest place to spend money on science and the place families spend least. Three terms of patient work on units, rearranging formulae, graph drawing and writing a method clearly removes most of what later presents as an IGCSE problem. Lower-tier tutoring at AED 45 to 65 an hour is genuinely appropriate here, which is worth saying on a page about cost.

For Creek Harbour families this is the stage where a budget online tutor delivers real value, because the work is supervision and habit rather than examination technique. We will say so rather than selling a specialist. The money is better kept for Year 11, when paper technique for a specific syllabus code starts to matter and a generalist stops being enough.

Post-IGCSEAges 16-19

The route into A Level or the IB Diploma

IGCSE grades decide which sciences a student may continue and at what level. A strong Extended grade in Chemistry supports Chemistry HL in the Diploma or A Level Chemistry; a Core entry generally does not. This is the real financial argument for spending in Year 10 rather than Year 11, because an entry-tier decision made on weak mock performance is expensive to unwind later.

Creek Harbour students split between A Level routes at British schools in Al Garhoud and Nad Al Sheba and Diploma routes at IB schools in Al Jaddaf and Nad Al Sheba. Both read IGCSE science grades closely. Where a student is borderline, the cheapest intervention is usually targeted work before the tiering decision rather than remedial work after it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the science and supporting subjects we cover at IGCSE for this district, with the syllabus codes where they are the thing that determines what a tutor needs to know.

IGCSE Chemistry

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0620, Pearson 4CH1

Marks concentrate in moles and concentration, electrolysis and organic reaction types. The commonest avoidable loss is an unbalanced equation carried through a correct calculation. Practical skills are assessed on paper, so a student who has done the experiment still needs to practise describing it.

IGCSE Physics

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0625, Pearson 4PH1

Electricity is the topic that decides grades, followed by moments and pressure. Unit prefixes cost more marks than any concept. Graph work rewards a practised method: axes, scale, best-fit line, gradient with units, in that order and every time.

IGCSE Biology

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0610, Pearson 4BI1

Terminology precision decides the grade more than understanding does. The difference between 'state', 'describe' and 'explain' is worth several marks per paper. Transport in plants, homeostasis and inheritance are where Extended students most often lose structured marks.

Coordinated Science (Double Award)

Cambridge 0654

One award covering all three sciences at reduced depth, with its own paper structure rather than a selection from the separate sciences. Tutoring has to follow the Coordinated specification, because a tutor teaching separate-science content will cover material the student is not assessed on.

Combined Science (Single Award)

Cambridge 0653

A single grade across the three sciences with the lightest content load of the science routes. Appropriate for a student with a heavy timetable, and worth checking against intended post-16 routes, because some A Level and IB Higher Level science entry expectations are not met by it.

IGCSE Mathematics

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0580, Pearson 4MA1

The subject that most often masquerades as a science problem. Rearranging formulae, standard form, ratio and graph interpretation all appear inside science papers. A student losing Physics marks on algebra needs maths sessions, and we will say so rather than billing for Physics.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606 route

Taken by stronger mathematicians heading to A Level Maths or Maths AA HL. Useful alongside separate sciences because the algebraic fluency feeds directly into Physics and Chemistry calculation work.

IGCSE English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Relevant to science outcomes more than parents expect, because an Extended science paper demands written explanation. A student whose science marks drop on extended-response questions and not on calculation is often facing a language task rather than a science one.

IGCSE Computer Science

Cambridge 0478

Commonly taken alongside separate sciences by students heading to engineering. Marks are lost on documenting logic rather than on coding, which surprises confident programmers and is fixable with structured practice.

IGCSE Geography and Environmental Management

Cambridge routes

Often chosen as a fourth science-adjacent subject. Shares the data-handling and graph-interpretation skills that IGCSE science papers test, so support in one tends to improve performance in both.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements cover almost every IGCSE science request from this district. The difference between them is mostly cost per outcome rather than cost per hour, which is the comparison worth making.

One subject, one weekly hour, one term

The arrangement we recommend most often and the one families resist most, because it feels like doing less. One science, properly, for a full term, with the method secured rather than sampled. Students routinely carry the method across into the other two sciences without paying for them, because the real deficit is usually graph work, command terms or algebra rather than biology, chemistry or physics content.

  • 60 minutes weekly, same tutor, same syllabus code
  • Annotated whiteboard and worked solutions sent after each session
  • Paced against the school's own scheme of work
  • Cheapest route to a measurable change in a marked paper

Three sciences across a shared timetable

Where a student genuinely needs all three, we usually rotate rather than running three separate weekly hours, which would be the most expensive configuration available. Two sessions a week, rotating across the sciences in the order the school's assessment calendar demands, keeps the cost near a two-hour budget while still covering the ground that matters before each test.

  • Two weekly hours rotated by the school's assessment calendar
  • One tutor where possible, two where subject depth requires it
  • Priority set by the next marked assessment rather than by syllabus order
  • Noticeably cheaper than three parallel weekly hours

Final-term paper technique intensive

A compressed block in the weeks before a June or November series, built on timed past papers rather than content delivery. The tutor diagnoses from a marked script, drills the question types costing marks, and works command terms and practical-description questions under time. This is the highest-yield money in the whole IGCSE science calendar and the place where a specialist rate is actually worth paying.

  • Diagnosis from a real marked script, not a description
  • Timed sections compared against mark schemes in the same session
  • Command-term and practical-description drilling for the exact board
  • Useful from about eight weeks out; below three weeks, consolidate instead

Small online group, two to four students

Where several Creek Harbour or Al Jaddaf students from the same school, board and tier want to share a session and a cost. It works for past-paper and technique work among students at a similar standard, and reduces cost per student meaningfully. It works poorly for closing an individual algebra gap, because the pace has to serve the group.

  • Same school, same board, same tier, or the group does not function
  • Lower cost per student than one-to-one at the same tutor tier
  • Best for technique work in the run-in to a series
  • Not advisable where a student has gaps from Year 9

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Creek Harbour

01

The Dubai market priced from the bottom up

The direct answer: an IGCSE science tutor in Dubai costs between about AED 33 and AED 650 an hour depending on tier, and the three tiers that matter for a Year 10 or Year 11 student sit at roughly AED 45 to 65, AED 150 to 300, and AED 200 to 450 and above. Every figure in the table below was read from the provider's own published page in October 2026, which is a sentence no competitor page in this market can write, because three of six publish no price at all.

Priced from the cheapest end, the picture is clearer than it looks. Tutopiya advertises from AED 33 to 52 and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65; at that level the tutor is typically a student or recent graduate and the service is supervision. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150, which generally buys a tutor who knows the subject. TutorChase quotes AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai 2026 table reaches AED 450 and above for specialist IGCSE, IB and A Level support, which is where knowledge of a specific syllabus code, its tiering and its practical assessment format enters the price. BartyED's AED 650 sits at the premium named end.

Monthly figures are more useful for budgeting, and Bestimate publishes those too: roughly AED 240 to 600 a month for a weekly hour at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist support in an examination year. Advertised packages in the market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Set against school fees, that context matters: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion.

The four ways Creek Harbour families waste tutoring money

  • A science problem that is really an algebra problem, bought at a science specialist's rate
  • Three sciences at one hour each, producing no secured method in any of them
  • Packages bought before a diagnosis, usually for a discount
  • Content teaching in the final eight weeks, when the marks are in technique
  • Paying an in-home travel premium for a sixteen-year-old who does not need a person in the room

This is the section we would want to read as a parent, so it comes before the sales argument. Across the families we work with in Dubai's central corridor, wasted science tutoring spend falls into four recognisable patterns, and none of them involves a dishonest tutor. They involve a reasonable decision made without a piece of information that was available.

The first is paying a specialist rate for a mathematics problem. A student losing Physics marks on standard form, rearranging formulae and gradient calculation is not short of physics; they are short of algebra, and a Physics specialist at AED 300 an hour will spend the session teaching maths at a Physics price. The second is spreading a budget across three sciences at one session each, which produces three unfinished conversations and no secured method. The third is buying volume early: twelve sessions bought in September against a problem nobody has diagnosed, usually because a package discount was offered.

The fourth is the most expensive and the least visible. It is paying for content teaching in the final term, when the marks available are almost entirely technique. In the last eight weeks before a June or November series, the highest-yield work is timed papers with mark-scheme comparison, command-term discipline, practical-description questions and graph method. A tutor covering new topics in that window is teaching material the student will not be examined on deeply enough to matter, while the recoverable marks sit untouched in a drawer full of unmarked past papers. The table sets out each pattern with the cheaper alternative.

03

Separate sciences, Coordinated or Combined: the cost follows the route

Before any rate matters, establish which science route your child is on, because it changes both the tutoring bill and what it can achieve. Separate sciences means three qualifications, three sets of papers and three grades: Cambridge 0610 Biology, 0620 Chemistry and 0625 Physics, or Pearson's 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. Coordinated Science, Cambridge 0654, is a double award covering all three at reduced depth with its own paper structure. Combined Science, Cambridge 0653, is a single award with the lightest load.

The cost implication is direct. Three separate sciences multiply tutoring hours by subject, because the content does not overlap enough to share a session. Coordinated and Combined do not, which makes them substantially cheaper to support, and that is a legitimate factor in a family budget. What is not legitimate is treating them as interchangeable, because the route constrains what comes next. Some A Level and IB Higher Level science entry expectations are not met by a single-award Combined Science grade, and a school's head of science will tell you theirs in one email.

There is a specific trap for tutoring here. A tutor who does not know which route a student is on will teach separate-science content to a Coordinated Science candidate, covering material in a depth the papers do not reward while skipping the cross-cutting content the specification actually sets. This is the clearest argument for asking a prospective tutor for the syllabus code rather than the subject name. A specialist asks you for it before the first lesson. A generalist asks which topics the student finds hard, which is a question about symptoms.

04

Core or Extended, and why the tier decides the value of every hour you buy

Cambridge IGCSE sciences are entered at Core or Extended tier, and the tier sets a ceiling on the grade available. That single fact changes the economics of tutoring more than any hourly rate does. Buying specialist support for a student entered at Core, in the hope of a top grade, is buying something the entry does not permit. Equally, leaving a capable student on Core because a mock went badly in Year 10 is a cheap decision with an expensive consequence, because the ceiling follows them into post-16 choices.

The timing point is what parents most often miss. Tier entry is decided by the school, usually on the strength of mock performance, and there is a window in which it can still be changed. Tutoring money spent before that decision is worth considerably more than the same money spent after it, because it can move the ceiling rather than just the mark underneath it. For a Creek Harbour family weighing whether to start in Year 10 or wait until Year 11, this is the whole argument for Year 10.

Pearson's International GCSE structure works differently, with a modular assessment pattern rather than a Core and Extended tiering, and students may have already sat and banked components. A tutor needs to know which. This is a routine question that distinguishes someone who works with these qualifications from someone who teaches the science generally, and a parent can ask it in one sentence on a first call.

Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel: what actually differs for the same science

  • Cambridge: June and November series for UAE centres; six administrative zones with zone-specific timetables
  • Cambridge cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who used the wrong zone timetable
  • Pearson Edexcel: May/June and November; November 2026 timetable ran to 19 November 2026
  • June 2026 Pearson results reached students 20 August 2026; November 2025 results 22 January 2026
  • The February/March Cambridge series is India-only and does not apply to UAE candidates
  • Always open the live official timetable rather than relying on any restated date

Schools in this corridor use both boards, sometimes within the same building for different subjects, and a parent is rarely told which one matters. It matters quite a lot. Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states plainly that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November each year. Its November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables well ahead of each series, which is why any session table, including ours, should be read alongside the live official timetable rather than treated as the authority.

One correction worth making loudly, because it circulates widely in UAE parent groups. The Cambridge February and March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates sit the June and November series. If a tutor, an aggregator site or a WhatsApp forward tells you your child can sit a March series in Dubai, that is wrong, and acting on it could cost a year. Beyond dates, the boards differ in paper structure and in how practical skills are assessed on paper, which is the real reason a tutor needs the syllabus code rather than the subject name.

06

Online or in-home in this district: what the travel premium buys

In-home tutoring has real advantages and a page about cost should state them. A tutor in the room reads a child's face, removes a phone from the table, and holds the attention of a thirteen-year-old who will not sit still for a screen. For younger students and for some students with particular attention needs, that is worth paying for, and we would not argue otherwise.

For a Year 10 or Year 11 science student, the arithmetic looks different. Bestimate quotes in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors up to AED 500, against an online specialist band of AED 200 to 450. The overlap is substantial, and the part of the in-home figure that is not teaching is driving. In this district that driving is specific: a tutor reaching a Creek Harbour tower at 5pm has crossed either the Ras Al Khor approaches or Al Khail Road at their slowest, and will do the same in reverse afterwards. Those ninety minutes are inside your hour whether or not anyone itemises them.

To be unambiguous, because this page targets a search families type: IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE. Our tutors do not come to Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate or any other UAE address. Home tutoring is a service we provide only in India. The comparison below is between the market's formats rather than between providers, and it is set out so a family can price the trade-off rather than take our word for which side wins.

Practicals, coursework and the line a science tutor must not cross

  • Most IGCSE practical skills are assessed on paper, so they are teachable without a laboratory
  • Permitted: method teaching, questioning a plan, explaining criteria, feedback on the student's own work
  • Not permitted: writing any part, supplying data, providing templates to complete
  • We link official syllabus and past-paper sources rather than hosting copies
  • Completed-coursework services appear in this market; the consequence falls on the student

IGCSE science assesses practical skills, but in most routes it does so on paper rather than in a laboratory, which confuses families whose children study partly online. A practical question asks a student to describe a method, identify a control variable, explain why a particular apparatus choice limits precision, or interpret results from an experiment they have not personally run. Those are teachable skills and they are examinable without a bench, which is why online science teaching works better at IGCSE than parents expect.

Where there is assessed coursework or a school-marked practical component, the boundary matters. A tutor may teach method, question a plan until the student improves it themselves, explain what the marking criteria reward, and give written feedback on work the student has produced. A tutor may not write any part of it, supply data, or provide a template to be completed, which is ghost-writing with extra steps. We also do not reproduce or distribute Cambridge, Pearson or IB syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables; we reference them and link the official source, because copying them is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, a malpractice exposure.

This boundary is worth paying attention to as a buyer, not just as a matter of principle. Services selling completed coursework appear in these same search results, at published prices. For a family under deadline pressure the offer can look like a solution. It is the most expensive purchase available in this market, because the cost is not the fee. Submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice under the boards' rules and the consequence lands on the student's certificate.

Equivalency and entry costs: the bill behind the tutoring bill

A cost page that stops at the tutor's hourly rate is incomplete, because there are other charges attached to an IGCSE science year and they affect how a family should allocate money. Private candidate entry, where a student sits a subject outside their school's entry, carries a centre fee that varies by centre; resits in a later series carry entry fees again. Those are school and centre questions rather than tutoring questions, but they belong in the same budget conversation, and they are a reason to get the first attempt right rather than to plan around a resit.

Then there is equivalency, which almost no competitor page in this market mentions at all. Certificate equivalency through the UAE Ministry of Education is what allows a secondary qualification to be recognised here for university admission and employment. For the British track, a student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must show one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects.

That five-subject rule is worth holding firmly, because at least one ranking competitor page in this market states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects, which is wrong, and a parent who believes it may fund an unnecessary sixth entry. For the American track, English proficiency requires IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics requires at least 450 in SAT Math before applying. We publish no IB points threshold, because we have not read one on moe.gov.ae. Equivalency is a process the authority performs; it is not something IB Gram performs, guarantees or accelerates, and tutoring is not a requirement for it.

Spending the first AED 1,000 well

  • Send a marked script before you pay for anything
  • Take a free diagnostic lesson that works a real question, not a sales call
  • Buy four sessions rather than twelve; a wrong match then costs little
  • Fix the slot for after the bus, 5pm or later on weekdays in this district
  • Judge it on the next marked assessment, not on how the sessions felt
  • Treat a pre-diagnosis package discount as information about the seller

If a Creek Harbour family has a limited budget and one science to fix, here is how we would spend the first thousand dirhams, which is roughly four sessions at the mid tier or two and a half at the specialist tier. Nothing in this sequence requires buying from us, and it is the advice we give on the phone before anyone pays anything.

Spend nothing on the first conversation. Take a free diagnostic lesson, from us or from anyone who offers one, and insist that it works a real question with your child rather than presenting credentials. Send a recently marked science script beforehand; it is the single most valuable document in this process, because a marked paper shows in ten minutes whether the loss is content, command terms, calculation method or timing, and those four problems have four different and differently priced remedies.

Then buy four sessions, not twelve. Four is enough to see a change in a marked piece of work and short enough that a wrong match costs little. Fix the slot after the bus arrives, which in this district means 5pm or later on weekdays and mid-morning at weekends. Judge the result on the next school assessment rather than on how the sessions felt. If it has not moved and the tutor cannot say precisely why, change the tutor rather than extending the package. And if at any point someone offers you a discount for buying a term in advance before the problem has been diagnosed, treat that as information about the seller.

Where we tutor

Where Creek Harbour families spend their tutoring money

Cost is partly geography. The districts below define the Creek Harbour school run, and an in-home tutor's rate quietly reflects which of these journeys they have to make in the late afternoon.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate and the Address Harbour Point towers. Limited school provision inside the boundary, so almost every IGCSE student commutes out, and any visiting tutor arrives at the slowest hour of the day.

Al Jaddaf

Across the creek and the nearest school cluster, with an IB continuum school and several British-curriculum options. The shortest journey of the three main runs, which is why in-home quotes for Al Jaddaf families tend to sit at the lower end of the band.

Al Garhoud

Established Deira-side area with a long-running international school. A manageable morning run and a slow afternoon one. Families here often chose the tower for this specific school, which shapes the whole week.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront's low-rise neighbour, using the same bridge approaches. Families mostly enrol in Al Garhoud or Oud Metha and face the same afternoon squeeze on the crossing.

Nad Al Sheba

The southern run, with large established campuses and some of Dubai's biggest IGCSE cohorts. The longest routine journey from Creek Harbour, and the one that most inflates an in-home tutor's effective hourly cost.

Sobha Hartland

Inside Mohammed Bin Rashid City with schools on site. One of the few nearby communities where a student is home within fifteen minutes, which makes it the cheapest district in this corridor to tutor in person.

Business Bay

Dense tower living with no large campus inside it. Short distances and slow crossings. Parents often work nearby, which makes later evening sessions practical to supervise.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

A mixed belt holding several well-known British-curriculum schools. Fine in the morning, slow after 3pm, which pushes realistic session times towards 6pm for families on this run.

Meydan

Between Nad Al Sheba and Business Bay, with limited local schooling and an unpredictable bridge approach. Session timing here is set by the crossing rather than by the distance.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Creek Harbour

Al Jaddaf, Culture Village and Al Garhoud

The nearest cluster to Creek Harbour and the cheapest to reach. These schools run British and IB curricula under KHDA regulation and between them enter students for both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel science qualifications. Because the board differs between schools in this cluster, the first question we ask any family here is which syllabus code their child was entered for.

  • Deira International School
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Dubai Gem Private School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Al Ittihad Private School, Al Mamzar

Nad Al Sheba, Sobha Hartland and Meydan

The southern run, holding large IGCSE cohorts at several selective British schools alongside IB continuum provision. The furthest regular journey from Creek Harbour, which is why in-home quotes for these families are the highest in this corridor and why online teaching changes the arithmetic most here.

  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Hartland International School
  • Kent College Dubai
  • Repton School Dubai

Al Quoz, Business Bay and Downtown

Chosen by families who preferred a school near a parent's workplace. Distances are short and afternoon crossings unreliable, so the practical effect on tutoring cost is less about travel distance and more about how late a session has to start.

  • Safa Community School
  • Horizon English School
  • The Arbor School
  • Dubai International Academy
  • GEMS Wellington Primary School

Named schools appear as local context only. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any school named here, and we support students from many schools beyond this list.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the syllabus code, not just the subject

Cambridge 0620 and Pearson 4CH1 are different qualifications with different papers and different practical assessment. So are Coordinated Science 0654 and separate Chemistry. A tutor who does not ask which one your child was entered for will teach some material the papers do not reward and skip some they do.

  2. 02

Send one recently marked science script

A marked paper with the teacher's annotations distinguishes a content gap from a command-term problem from an algebra problem from a timing problem in about ten minutes. Those four have different remedies at different prices, and guessing between them is how tutoring budgets get spent on the wrong thing.

  3. 03

    Take the free diagnostic lesson

About 45 minutes, live over video, no card details taken and nothing to cancel. The tutor works a real question with your child and then tells you what they found, including the cases where our answer is that maths support or a conversation with the school is the better use of your money.

  4. 04

Buy four sessions, not a term

Four is enough to produce a visible change in a marked piece of work and short enough that a wrong match costs little. We do not offer a discount for buying a term in advance, because a pre-diagnosis commitment mostly transfers risk from us to you.

  5. 05

Fix a slot that survives the school run

Buses from Nad Al Sheba, Al Quoz and Al Garhoud reach Creek Harbour towers from about 4pm, so weekday sessions work from 4.45pm and hold best at 5pm or later. Weekend mornings are easier. Because there is no tutor commute, a later slot costs nothing extra.

  6. 06

Review against the next marked assessment

Not against a feeling and not against attendance. If the next school test has not moved and the tutor cannot explain why in specific terms, we change the tutor rather than extend the arrangement. If it has moved, we say what we would do with the next four sessions.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Prices published with their sources

Every AED figure on this page carries the provider that published it and the month it was read. Three of six researched competitor pages in this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars. A family cannot judge a quote without a market, so we publish the market rather than asking for trust.

We will tell you not to buy

A science problem that is really an algebra problem should not be bought at a science specialist's rate, and we say so after the diagnostic lesson rather than taking the booking. The same goes for three parallel sciences and for content teaching in the final eight weeks before a series.

Syllabus code first, always

Cambridge 0620, 0625, 0610, 0654 and Pearson 4CH1, 4PH1, 4BI1 are different qualifications with different papers and practical assessment. We ask which one your child sits before matching a tutor, because a generalist teaching the wrong specification well is a real and common waste.

No travel premium inside the hour

The in-home band in Dubai's published rates overlaps heavily with the online specialist band, and the difference is largely the tutor's crossing of Ras Al Khor or Al Khail at 5pm. A video lesson removes that from the price and makes an evening slot as available as an afternoon one.

A firm line on coursework and papers

Tutors teach method, question plans, explain criteria and give written feedback on the student's own work. They do not write any part of it or supply data. We link official syllabus and past-paper sources rather than hosting copies of them, and we never offer completed coursework at any price.

Clear about what we are not

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, licence or partnership, has no UAE office, and does not send tutors to UAE homes. Each of those is on the page because a family deserves to know it before paying, not afterwards.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Creek Harbour: your questions answered

How much does an IGCSE science tutor cost in Dubai Creek Harbour?+

Published Dubai rates run from about AED 33 to 650 an hour. Tutopiya advertises from AED 33 to 52 and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 at the budget end. Unitors lists IGCSE from AED 150. TutorChase quotes AED 270, and Bestimate's Dubai 2026 table reaches AED 450 and above for specialist IGCSE and A Level support. In-home visits run AED 180 to 500 because travel is inside the rate, and BartyED publishes AED 650 for premium named tutoring. Those were all read from the providers' own pages in October 2026. IB Gram does not publish an hourly list, because the right arrangement depends on subject count and frequency.

Is the cheapest tutor ever the right choice for IGCSE science?+

Yes, for a specific stage. For Years 7 to 9, where the work is homework supervision, arithmetic confidence and habit, a budget online tutor at AED 45 to 65 an hour is genuinely appropriate and we will say so. It stops being appropriate in Year 11, when the marks sit in paper technique for a named syllabus code, the tiering decision, command-term discipline and practical-description questions. That is knowledge a tutor acquires by working with the qualification rather than by having passed it, and it is what the specialist band is actually charging for.

Why does my child's syllabus code matter to a tutor?+

Because Cambridge 0620 Chemistry, Pearson 4CH1 Chemistry and Cambridge Coordinated Science 0654 are different qualifications with different papers, different tiering and different practical assessment. A tutor teaching separate-science content to a Coordinated Science candidate covers material the papers do not reward and skips cross-cutting content the specification does set. A specialist asks you for the code before the first lesson. A generalist asks which topics your child finds hard, which is a question about symptoms rather than about the examination they will actually sit.

Should we fund all three sciences or just one?+

One, properly, in almost every case we see. Three sciences at one weekly hour each costs three times as much and typically produces three unfinished conversations with no secured method in any of them. The deficit is usually not biology, chemistry or physics content; it is graph method, command terms or algebra, and those transfer. A student who secures the method in Chemistry generally applies it in Physics without paying for Physics. Where all three genuinely need work, we rotate two weekly hours by the school's assessment calendar rather than running three parallel sessions.

What is the difference between Core and Extended tier?+

Core entry caps the grade available; Extended gives access to the full range. The school decides the entry, usually on mock performance, and there is a window in which it can be changed. That makes the timing of tutoring money important: spending before the decision can move the ceiling, while spending afterwards only moves the mark underneath it. It also means past-paper practice has to match the tier actually entered. Buying specialist support for a Core entry in the hope of a top grade is buying something the entry does not permit.

Does my child sit a February or March IGCSE series in Dubai?+

No. Cambridge International's February and March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. This matters because the claim circulates widely in UAE parent groups and acting on it could cost a year. Note also that every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version, and Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used.

How are science practicals assessed if my child studies partly online?+

In most IGCSE science routes, practical skills are assessed on paper rather than at a bench. A question asks the student to describe a method, identify a control variable, explain why an apparatus choice limits precision, or interpret results from an experiment they did not personally run. Those are teachable without a laboratory, which is why online science teaching works better at IGCSE than parents expect. Where a school-marked practical component exists, a tutor may teach method and give feedback on the student's own work, but may not write or supply any part of it.

When is the best time in the year to spend money on science tutoring?+

Year 10, before the tiering decision, and then the final eight weeks before the series. Year 10 money can move the ceiling, because the school sets Core or Extended entry largely on mock performance and there is a window to change it. The final eight weeks are high-yield for a different reason: the recoverable marks there are almost entirely technique, which is drillable. The worst time to buy content teaching is those same final weeks, when new topics arrive too late to be examined deeply enough to matter.

Do you send science tutors to homes in Creek Harbour?+

No. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, including Creek Beach, Harbour Views, Creek Gate and the Address Harbour Point towers. Home visiting is a service we run only in India, and we state it here rather than after a booking. For UAE families every lesson is live, one-to-one video on Gulf Standard Time. We target the phrase because it is what parents search for, and then answer the question honestly. If a tutor in the room is a firm requirement, we are not the right service.

Is it worth paying the in-home premium for a Year 11 student?+

Usually not, and the numbers say so rather than our preference. Bestimate quotes in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors up to AED 500, against an online specialist band of AED 200 to 450. The overlap is large, and the part of the in-home figure that is not teaching is driving, which in this district means crossing Ras Al Khor or Al Khail at their slowest in both directions. For a younger child who needs a person in the room, the premium can be worth it. For a sixteen-year-old, rarely.

Should I buy a package for the discount?+

Not before a diagnosis. A twelve-session package bought in September commits a term's budget against a problem nobody has yet identified, and the discount is the seller transferring risk to you. Buy four sessions. Four is enough to produce a visible change in a marked piece of work and short enough that a wrong match costs little. If someone offers a discount for a term in advance before any diagnostic lesson has happened, treat the offer as information about how they operate rather than as a saving.

Will paying for a sixth IGCSE subject help with UAE equivalency?+

It should not be necessary. The British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. At least one ranking competitor page in this market states that six IGCSE subjects are required, which is wrong, and a family acting on it may fund an entry and a term of tutoring they did not need. Verify the current position with the Ministry before paying for anything extra.

My son understands the science but his marks are low. What is going on?+

Usually one of three things, and they have different prices. Command terms: answering 'explain' at the length of 'state' loses marks that needed no extra knowledge. Algebra: standard form, rearranging formulae and gradient work sit inside science papers, and a student short of those loses science marks for a maths reason. Or timing: a student who can do every question but not in the time available. A marked script tells us which within about ten minutes, which is why we ask for one before quoting any arrangement.

Can a tutor help with assessed science coursework?+

Within a boundary we state plainly. A tutor may teach method, question a plan until the student improves it themselves, explain what the marking criteria reward, and give written feedback on work the student has produced. A tutor may not write any part of it, supply data, or hand over a template to be completed. We also do not reproduce or distribute Cambridge, Pearson or IB syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes; we link the official source. Services selling completed coursework appear in these search results, and the consequence of using one falls on the student.

Do tutors in Dubai need a permit, and does that affect what I pay?+

They need one, and it should not affect your price, because the permit is free. The private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued by MoHRE free of charge for two years. Registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18 are all listed as eligible, with a two-working-day completion time. Any tutor citing permit costs as a reason for a higher rate is misinformed. Tutoring without one attracts penalties under the applicable laws, with no published fine schedule.

What would you do first with a budget of AED 1,000?+

Spend nothing on the first conversation. Send a recently marked science script and take a free diagnostic lesson that works a real question with your child rather than presenting credentials. Then buy four sessions at the tier the diagnosis actually calls for, which is sometimes maths rather than science. Fix the slot after the bus arrives, so 5pm or later on a weekday in this district. Judge the outcome on the next school assessment. If it has not moved and the tutor cannot say precisely why, change the tutor rather than buying more hours.

Price the problem before you price the tutor

The cheapest useful step for a Creek Harbour family is also the one that costs nothing. Send your child's school, the exact syllabus code they were entered for, and one recently marked science script. We will match an IGCSE science specialist for that board and tier, and the first lesson is free, lasts about 45 minutes, takes no card details and leaves nothing to cancel. Afterwards you get a specific answer about what is costing marks and what it will take to recover them, including the occasions when our honest view is that maths support or a conversation with the school is the better use of your money. All lessons for UAE families are live, one-to-one and online.
