IGCSE Tutor near me in the UAE

Parents type IGCSE tutor near me in the UAE because the exam is close, not because the tutor is. From Dubai to Fujairah, the dates that decide your child's grade are set in Cambridge and in Pearson's offices months before anyone sits a paper. IB Gram matches your child to a subject specialist for one-to-one lessons over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, and builds the plan backwards from the first paper on their statement of entry.

IB & IGCSE in the UAE

The search says near me; the thing that is actually close is a deadline

An IGCSE year has very few moments that cannot be recovered, and almost all of them are dates rather than places. The final entry deadline for the published Cambridge March 2027 series falls on 27 November 2026, more than two months before the exam period opens on 3 February 2027. Forecast grades are due on 27 February 2027. Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. None of those dates move because a family lives in Jumeirah rather than Khalifa City, and none of them care how long the drive is. That is the honest reading of a proximity search: the clock is the local thing, and the tutor does not have to be.

Parents search for an IGCSE tutor near me in the UAE for a sensible reason. A tutor who lives nearby can be there on Tuesday, can see the exercise book, and can be judged on a handshake. The trouble is what a twenty-minute radius does to the shortlist. Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE together run dozens of syllabuses, each with its own paper structure, option codes and practical or coursework component. A radius filter selects for who is free and close. It does not select for someone who has marked Extended-tier Chemistry answers, knows where Paper 4 candidates lose method marks, or can tell you in one sitting whether a grade 5 mock was a knowledge problem or an exam-technique problem.

So this page answers the proximity question properly and then answers the one underneath it. IB Gram delivers IGCSE tuition in the UAE as one-to-one lessons over live video. There are no home visits anywhere in the Emirates; that service exists only in India. What a family gets instead is a subject-and-tier specialist available in the evening slot that suits a UAE school day, with no travel charge folded into the rate and no session lost to Sheikh Zayed Road at six o'clock.

Everything that follows is organised by time, because that is how an IGCSE year actually fails. Section by section: what near me really measures, the four calendars running at once, the forecast grade that lands in February, the statement of entry and what to check on it, results day arriving in a UAE school holiday, what a mid-year arrival has to close, how Ramadan and the three Ministry subjects sit inside a revision term, and how many weeks are left before the format of a lesson stops mattering.

The figures in AED on this page are market rates published by other providers and read in October 2026. They are not IB Gram's price list. They are here because three of the six best-ranking pages for these queries publish no price at all, and the two that do quote US dollars, which is not the currency a UAE family transacts in. A parent deciding in week three of a two-year course deserves to see the band before anyone asks for a phone number.

If you take one thing from this page, take the entry deadline. Confirm the series, the board, the syllabus code and the tier your child is entered for, in writing, from the school's exams officer. Every other decision, including whether to book a tutor at all, gets easier once those four facts are on the table.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four routes cover almost every UAE family who searches for IGCSE help. The tier and the board are decided by an entry form, not by a tutor, which is why the first conversation is always about what the school has already submitted. The notes below say what each route means specifically inside the UAE school calendar.

COREAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE, Core tier

Core-tier entry covers the Core subject content and is assessed on the Core papers, with a grade range that stops short of the top grades. In most subjects that means Paper 1 and Paper 3 rather than Paper 2 and Paper 4, and in the sciences a Core theory paper that leaves out the extension topics entirely. Tutoring at Core tier is usually about securing the grade the entry allows, closing arithmetic and command-term gaps, and making sure every mark on the paper that is reachable is actually reached.

In UAE schools a Core entry is often made in Year 10 on the strength of one internal assessment, and families do not always realise the grade ceiling it carries until a university prospectus asks for a grade 6. If a move to Extended is being considered, it has to be raised with the exams officer before the entry deadline, not after the mocks.

EXTAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE, Extended tier

Extended entry adds the supplement content and the harder papers, and it is the route that keeps the top grades available. In Mathematics 0580 that is Paper 2 and Paper 4; in Physics 0625 and Chemistry 0620 it is the Extended theory paper plus the practical component the school has chosen. The extra content is rarely the hardest part. The harder part is the longer, multi-step question that expects a candidate to select a method rather than recognise one, which is exactly what weekly one-to-one work can rehearse.

Extended is the default at most British-curriculum schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and the usual UAE pattern is eight to ten subjects sat in one series, with Arabic and the Ministry subjects running alongside. That volume, not the difficulty of any single syllabus, is what makes a Year 11 term feel unmanageable without a schedule.

EDEXCELAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Pearson's International GCSE uses its own codes, such as 4MA1 for Mathematics and 4PH1 for Physics, with Foundation and Higher tier in place of Core and Extended. The paper structure differs from Cambridge: fewer, longer papers in several subjects, and a different approach to practical assessment. A tutor who prepares a Pearson candidate on Cambridge past papers will cover most of the content and still miss the question style, which is why confirming the code matters more than confirming the subject.

Pearson publishes International GCSE series in May/June and November, and the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Because provisional timetables for later series are published and then revised, a UAE family should always work from the live timetable on qualifications.pearson.com rather than from a date someone has retyped onto a tutoring page.

RETAKEAges 16+ · after Year 11

Retake and private-candidate entry

A retake is a short, specific project: one or two subjects, a known weak component, and a fixed series to aim at. The work is different from first-time teaching because the content is largely in place and the loss is usually concentrated in one paper or one topic block. Sessions are built around that diagnosis, on past material from the right code and tier, with written feedback after each paper attempt so the pattern is visible rather than remembered.

In the UAE a retake decision is often made in the two weeks after results, while the family is travelling. It is also the point where private-candidate entry matters: a candidate no longer on a school roll has to be entered through a centre that accepts external candidates, and that is one of the few genuinely geographic constraints in the whole IGCSE year.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IGCSE subjects UAE families ask for most, with the syllabus codes that most often appear on a statement of entry. Treat every code here as a prompt to check, not as a fact about your child: schools change specifications, and a subject can be entered under a different code in the same building.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

The highest-demand subject in this market. Marks are lost less on topic knowledge than on method: unrounded working carried through a multi-step question, a bearings or similar-triangles diagram not drawn, and the last two parts of a long Paper 4 question left blank because time ran out in the middle section.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

Taken alongside 0580 by students heading for A-Level Maths or IB Higher Level. Calculus and trigonometric identities arrive early and unforgivingly, and the step up in algebraic fluency is the usual reason a confident 0580 candidate suddenly looks shaky on a 0606 past paper.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

Electricity and electromagnetism are where UAE candidates most often stall, followed by the practical paper's requirement to describe a method precisely enough for someone else to repeat it. Equation recall is cheap to fix; translating a described experiment into a graph and a gradient is the part that needs weeks.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620)

Core and Extended

Moles calculations, ionic equations and the organic chemistry block account for a large share of lost Extended marks. The common pattern is a candidate who can define a term but cannot apply it to an unfamiliar substance, which shows up as full marks on recall questions and half marks on everything else.

Biology (Cambridge 0610)

Core and Extended

Biology rewards precise written answers more than any other science at this level, and that is where it is lost. Transport in plants, homeostasis and inheritance questions need the command term obeyed exactly: describe, explain and suggest earn marks for different things, and mixing them is the most common single error.

Co-ordinated and Combined Sciences (Cambridge 0654 / 0653)

Core and Extended

Two IGCSE grades or one, from a syllabus that samples all three sciences. The difficulty is coverage rather than depth: a candidate has to hold physics, chemistry and biology content at once, and revision usually collapses into whichever one they like most unless the plan forces a rotation.

English Language (Cambridge 0500 / 0990)

Single tier

Directed writing and the composition task carry a large share of the marks and are the most coachable components on any IGCSE timetable. Reading questions reward selecting and reshaping evidence rather than quoting at length, and most UAE candidates gain quickly once that distinction lands.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

A very common entry across the Emirates, including for students who speak English all day at school. Marks concentrate in the exercises that test precise comprehension and controlled writing, and timing is often the binding constraint rather than vocabulary.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

Application and evaluation marks are the whole game. A candidate who defines cash flow and then fails to apply it to the named business in the case study loses the majority of the available marks on that question, and the fix is drilling the final evaluation paragraph rather than relearning the content.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Diagram accuracy decides more marks than most students expect: axes labelled, curves shifted in the right direction, the new equilibrium marked. The structured questions then ask for a judgement, and answers that list advantages without weighing them stop short of the top band.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

The theory paper covers data representation, networks and security, and the problem-solving paper expects pseudocode written to the syllabus convention. Students who code fluently in Python often lose marks for writing Python where the mark scheme expects the specified pseudocode form.

Arabic (first language and foreign language routes)

Varies by entry

Arabic sits in two places at once for most UAE students: as an IGCSE entry and as a Ministry-mandated subject with its own KHDA requirements on language of instruction and class organisation. Support is planned around both, with the school's own scheme of work as the reference point.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Four ways families book, all delivered one-to-one over live video and all scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. Which one fits depends almost entirely on how many weeks sit between today and the first paper on the statement of entry.

Weekly one-to-one, across the course

The standard arrangement for a Year 10 or Year 11 student: one 60-minute session a week in a fixed slot, working a term ahead of the school where possible and on the current unit where not. Over a full year this is the format that changes habits rather than patching gaps, because there is time for a topic to be taught, practised, marked and revisited.

  • Fixed weekly slot in GST, agreed around the school day
  • Session notes and the next week's practice set after each lesson
  • Progress reviewed against the school's own assessment calendar
  • Pauses for school exam weeks arranged in advance

Exam-series block, counted back from the first paper

A fixed number of sessions scheduled backwards from the date on the statement of entry, usually eight to fourteen weeks out, with a declared end point. The work is paper-led rather than topic-led: full components under timing, marked against the published assessment objectives, with the next session spent on whatever the marking exposed.

  • Plan written as dates, not as a topic list
  • At least one full component attempted under exam timing each fortnight
  • Written feedback that names the mark-scheme reason, not just the wrong answer
  • Final two sessions reserved for the components with the weakest margin

Single-subject diagnostic

One or two sessions to answer a narrow question: is this a content gap or an exam-technique gap, is Core or Extended the right entry, is a retake worth attempting in the next series. Families often use this after a disappointing mock, before committing to a longer block, and the output is a written assessment the parent keeps whether or not any further lessons are booked.

  • Built around one recent past paper or mock script
  • Written diagnosis of where the marks went, by component
  • A clear statement if tuition is not what the problem needs
  • No obligation to book further sessions

Post-results and retake block

Short, targeted work for a candidate who has a result in hand and a decision to make. The first session establishes which component carried the loss and whether the next available series is realistic; the rest of the block is spent on that component. Entry itself is arranged by the family with a centre that accepts external candidates, and we say so plainly rather than implying we can do it for you.

  • Starts from the component breakdown, not the overall grade
  • Honest view on whether the next series leaves enough weeks
  • Guidance on what to ask a centre about external entry
  • Shorter blocks, with an explicit finish date

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in the UAE

01

Near me, for an IGCSE family, is three different distances

A proximity search measures one thing: how far away a person is. An IGCSE year involves at least five distances, and the one a search engine returns is the least consequential of them. Your child's exam centre is a real location with a real drive attached on the morning of a paper. The regulator that holds your school's file is in a specific emirate and publishes specific documents. The Ministry counter that attests a certificate is a physical appointment. The board that sets the paper is in the United Kingdom and will never be near you. The tutor is the only one of the five whose location can be made irrelevant, and that is precisely what live video does.

This matters because of how a radius filter behaves. Narrow the search to twenty minutes and the pool shrinks to whoever happens to live close, which in most UAE communities means a handful of people available at 5pm on a Tuesday. Among them, the probability that someone has taught Extended-tier Chemistry 0620 to the current specification, or has marked Pearson 4MA1 Higher-tier Paper 2 answers, is a matter of luck. Widen the radius to the whole country and the pool grows, but so does the travel, and travel time is paid for either in money or in a session that starts late and finishes rushed.

The honest answer to the near me question is that the constraint worth optimising is time of day, not kilometres. A UAE school day finishing between 2pm and 3:30pm, plus activities, plus a commute home, leaves a narrow evening window. Removing the drive from both sides of that window is what makes a 7:30pm session with a specialist possible on a weeknight. IB Gram delivers IGCSE tuition in the UAE as one-to-one lessons over live video for exactly this reason, and does not send tutors to UAE addresses; home visits are part of our India service only.

So the table below is the page's opening argument. Four of the five distances in an IGCSE year are fixed by someone else. One of them is optional. Spending the search on the optional one is how families end up with a nearby generalist and a specialist-shaped problem.

WHAT A PROXIMITY SEARCH MEASURES, AND WHAT IT LEAVES OUT

Four calendars run across one IGCSE year, and your school sets only one of them

Families plan around the school calendar, because that is the one that arrives by email. It is also the one with the most give in it. A school internal deadline can be negotiated, a mock can be re-sat, a parents' evening can be rescheduled. The board calendar has none of that flexibility, and it closes first. Cambridge's published key dates for the March 2027 series put final entries at 27 November 2026, forecast grades at 27 February 2027, the exam period from 3 February to 4 March 2027, results on Direct on 13 May and certificates in late June. The entry closes before the teaching finishes. That ordering is the single most useful thing a parent can internalise.

The third calendar is the one the UAE itself imposes: Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with KHDA requiring that those requirements be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Those subjects occupy real timetable minutes in the same term as IGCSE revision, and KHDA calculates their instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit, advising that any mandatory-subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes. A revision plan that pretends those hours do not exist will not survive February.

The fourth is the university cycle, which for most UAE families begins while IGCSEs are still being sat. Predicted and forecast grades, personal statements and equivalency paperwork all draw on IGCSE outcomes, and all have deadlines set by institutions rather than by boards. A family that treats IGCSE as a self-contained two-year project discovers in Year 12 that a Core-tier entry made quietly in Year 10 has already closed a door.

Reading the table below in order is the point of it. The board closes earliest and moves least. The school closes next and moves a little. The Ministry subjects are immovable in volume but flexible in timing. The university cycle starts later and is where the earlier decisions get priced.

FOUR CALENDARS IN ONE IGCSE YEAR, AND HOW MUCH EACH ONE MOVES

03

The forecast grade due in February, and what a tutor can still change after it

Cambridge requires a forecast grade from the centre for each candidate, and for the published March 2027 series that deadline was 27 February 2027, three days before the exam period closed on 4 March. Most UAE parents have never heard the phrase until it affects something. A forecast grade is the school's professional estimate, submitted to the board, and it is built from whatever evidence the department holds at the time: the mock, classwork, past-paper scores, the last two unit tests. It is not a prediction of what a tutor will achieve in the remaining weeks, because the person submitting it has no way to know about that work.

The practical consequence is a sequencing problem. If a mock is sat in December and a tutor starts in January, the forecast submitted in February may still be anchored to December's evidence. Families who want the forecast to reflect improvement have to generate visible, school-facing evidence before the submission date: a re-sat paper the department will look at, a unit test, a conversation with the subject teacher. Evidence the school never sees cannot move a number the school submits.

The second consequence is diagnostic. A mock result is the most informative document a UAE family will hold during the whole course, and it is routinely wasted. The grade is the least useful part. The component breakdown, the question-level marks and the script itself say whether the loss is content, method, timing or reading the question, and those four problems have completely different remedies and completely different timescales. A timing problem can move in three weeks. A two-year content deficit in algebra cannot.

The table below is how we read a mock in a first session. It is not a promise about outcomes; it is a map of what the next six weeks would sensibly contain. Every row assumes the component breakdown is available, which is why the first thing we ask a parent for is the marked script rather than the report card.

READING A MOCK SCRIPT: WHAT THE MARKS USUALLY MEAN AND WHERE THE NEXT SIX WEEKS GO

Strong on short recall questions, weak on long multi-step onesA grade below the student's apparent abilityMethod selection: the candidate recognises methods but cannot choose one unpromptedLong-question drills from the correct code and tier, one component a fortnight, marked against the published assessment objectives
Good first half, blank or rushed final pagesA mid-band grade with unexplained varianceTiming, often caused by over-writing the early questionsTimed sections rather than whole papers, with a per-question time budget written on the desk
Consistent half marks across every topicA flat mid-band gradeCommand terms: describe, explain and suggest are being answered the same wayCommand-term work using mark schemes, rewriting the student's own answers into the form the scheme credits
Two or three topics at zero, the rest solidA grade dragged down by a narrow gapGenuine content absence, usually from a term with a teacher change or an absenceDirect teaching of those topics first, then integration into mixed past-paper sets

The statement of entry is the only document that tells you which paper your child sits

Ask a UAE parent which IGCSE papers their child sits and the answer is usually the subject name. Ask for the syllabus code, the tier and the option code and the answer is usually silence. That is not negligence; schools rarely volunteer it. But the statement of entry carries all of it, and until someone has read it, a tutor is working from an assumption. Cambridge and Pearson run different codes for the same subject, and within Cambridge a Core and an Extended candidate in the same classroom sit different papers with different ceilings.

The document also carries the candidate number and centre number, which is how every subsequent piece of administration is tracked, and it is the basis for the one thing about exam timetables that genuinely is geographic. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, and the guidance to exams officers is explicit that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, with Cambridge stating that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. A UAE centre and a UK centre sitting the same paper can be working to different published times.

So the first fifteen minutes of a first session are administrative, and parents are sometimes surprised by that. We ask for the board, the syllabus codes, the tier for each subject, the components listed, and the series. Those five facts determine which past papers are legitimate practice and which are a waste of an hour. A Higher-tier Pearson candidate drilled on Cambridge Extended papers will cover most of the content and still meet an unfamiliar question style on the day.

The table below is the short version of what to collect and when it appears. None of it requires a tutor. All of it makes a tutor useful rather than approximate, and a family that gathers it in September has removed most of the preventable risk from the year.

Results day lands when UAE families are out of the country

Pearson has published that June 2026 International GCSE results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and that November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Cambridge's published key dates for the March 2027 series put results on Direct at 13 May with certificates in late June. Line those up against the UAE school year and the problem is obvious. August results arrive in the middle of the summer break, when a large share of UAE families are abroad. January results arrive mid-term, with a Year 12 timetable already running.

Results day is not just an emotional event; it opens windows that close quickly. A decision about an enquiry about results, a remark, or an entry for the next available series has to be made in the weeks after the grade appears, and those processes run through the exam centre rather than through the family. A parent in a different time zone, with the school on holiday and the exams officer unreachable, loses days they did not know were scarce.

The fix is dull and effective. Before the series, find out from the exams officer three things: the date results are released to students, the email address that will be monitored during the break, and the centre's own deadline for requesting a review of marking. Write them down. If the family is travelling, decide in advance who opens the results and who can act on them. None of this requires a tutor, and all of it is the kind of thing a tutoring page in this market never mentions.

Where we do come in is the decision itself. A component breakdown either supports a retake or it does not, and that judgement is better made from the marks than from disappointment. The table below sets the published dates against where the UAE year actually is, and what the first fortnight after each one has to decide.

Arriving mid-IGCSE: what a family that landed in October has to close

The UAE is a country people move to in the middle of things. Dubai's private sector alone enrolled 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, and the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools creating 16,846 new places. A meaningful share of those seats are filled by children arriving mid-year from a different system entirely. A student who joins Year 10 in October has eleven months to the series and a syllabus that started in September, and the gap is rarely where the family expects it.

From CBSE or ICSE, the content overlap in mathematics and the sciences is usually high and the assessment style is the gap: IGCSE questions ask for method, explanation and application in a form that rewards written reasoning more than speed. From an American system, the opposite applies: the discussion and project habits transfer well and the quantity of examinable content is a shock. From British Year 9, the student is on the right track and simply behind by a term. From MYP, the inquiry skills are strong and the formal paper discipline is not.

None of this is a judgement about any curriculum. It is a statement about what a specific transition costs in weeks. The useful question for a parent in month one is not whether the child is clever but which three things have to be true by the mock, and that is a diagnosable list rather than a feeling. It usually includes a tier confirmation, two or three content blocks, and one piece of exam technique.

The table below is the map we use in a first conversation with an arriving family. The week counts are what families here typically book, not a promise about outcomes, and the right number for any child depends on the diagnostic rather than on the row.

Ramadan, Eid and the three Ministry subjects inside the same revision term

  • Mandatory-subject instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, with at least 25 minutes advised per lesson
  • Separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs are required in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies
  • Additional or different content for the mandatory subjects needs prior Ministry of Education permission
  • Post-Iftar sessions during Ramadan are usually easier to protect than weekday evening slots
  • Block the Eid break and school exam weeks on the calendar before counting available sessions

Private schools in the UAE are not obliged to follow a specific national curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but they must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. In Dubai, KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with implementation from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Those are not optional extras sitting outside the timetable. They are weekly instructional minutes, calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, with the advice that any mandatory-subject lesson should run at least 25 minutes.

KHDA's requirements go further than volume. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, with the school's licensed-curriculum language used for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies. Teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic are required to hold the appropriate KHDA approval for those subjects. For the mandatory subjects, using different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is prohibited, which is a real constraint on what any tutor can legitimately put on screen.

Set that against the academic year and the collision is visible. Ramadan brings shortened school days and a different household rhythm, and the sensible response is to move sessions rather than cancel the term: a post-Iftar slot works well for many families and is often calmer than a 5pm weekday lesson. Eid holidays remove a working week, and summer removes the weeks either side of August results. A revision plan drawn as a flat weekly grid will be wrong by February; one drawn on a wall calendar with the holidays blocked out first will survive.

Practically, this is what we ask families to do before booking a block: mark the Ministry-subject commitments, the school exam weeks, Ramadan and the Eid break on one calendar, and only then count the sessions that are actually available. The number is usually smaller than expected, which is a better thing to discover in October than in March.

The format question, decided by how many weeks are left

Arguments about online against in-home tuition are usually conducted in the abstract, which is why they go nowhere. In practice the format question has a clear answer once you know two things: how many weeks remain before the first paper, and how specialised the help needs to be. With a year to run and a general confidence problem, almost any competent arrangement will work. With ten weeks to run and a specific Extended-tier Chemistry 0620 problem, the pool of people who can help is small, and insisting that they also live nearby is how families end up with the wrong help at the right distance.

The AED figures below are what other providers in this market publish about their own services, read in October 2026, and they are here because most pages in this category publish nothing. EdFlik lists from AED 45 to 65 an hour and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 at the budget end. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350, with specialist exam-year work at AED 200 to 450 and above, and BartyED publishes AED 650 at the premium end. Monthly packages seen in the market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. These are market rates and not IB Gram's price list; ours is discussed at the consultation.

The structural point inside those numbers is that an in-home rate includes travel, and travel is both a cost and a scheduling constraint. A visiting tutor has to fit your slot into a route, which is why in-home availability clusters in a few communities and why rates rise closer to exams, when the few available people are busiest. A lesson over live video has no route, so the binding constraint becomes the specialist's own calendar rather than the map, and a Fujairah family and a Dubai Marina family see the same list.

IB Gram delivers IGCSE tuition in the UAE as one-to-one lessons over live video, with screen-shared past papers, annotated scripts and session notes the family keeps. Home visits are offered only in India. The table below is the version of the comparison that is actually decision-useful: not online against in-home in general, but what each option realistically offers at a given distance from the paper.

Coursework when the school deadline is Thursday and the session is on Tuesday

  • A tutor teaches content, criteria and method; the submitted work is the student's own
  • Feedback is given on the student's own draft, never as replacement text
  • Planning and structure are rehearsed on unassessed examples rather than the live task
  • Board syllabuses, past papers and mark schemes are referenced and linked, not reproduced
  • A missed internal deadline is a conversation with the department, not something tuition can undo

This is where a tutoring market in a hurry gets dangerous, and it should be said plainly. One page ranking for these queries sells completed Internal Assessments. That is not tutoring. For an IGCSE candidate, work that is internally assessed or submitted as coursework has to be the student's own, and a submission that is not can end a candidacy. No deadline, and no amount of parental pressure, changes that arithmetic.

What a tutor may legitimately do is substantial, and families are often relieved to hear how much it is. A tutor can teach the underlying content. A tutor can explain the assessment criteria and what each band actually requires. A tutor can look at the student's own draft and say where it does not yet meet the criteria, in the student's own hearing, so the student does what comes next. A tutor can teach method writing, data presentation, graph conventions and referencing as skills. A tutor can rehearse the planning process on a different, unassessed example, which is usually the single most effective legitimate intervention available.

What a tutor must not do is also short and clear. Not supply text to be submitted. Not rewrite a paragraph into its final form. Not provide a worked model of the actual assessed task for the student to follow line by line. Not sit alongside the student during an assessment the school is supervising. We also do not reproduce or distribute board syllabuses, past papers or mark schemes as downloads; those belong on cambridgeinternational.org and qualifications.pearson.com, and we reference and link them rather than copying them.

The practical answer to the Thursday deadline is a conversation with the subject teacher, not a tutor working through the night. If the student is behind because of illness, a move or a genuine content gap, the department has processes for that and the school's exams officer knows what can and cannot be requested from the board. A tutor's role at that point is to make the next unassessed piece of work go better, and to be honest that the current one has already become the school's problem to manage.

The equivalency file is opened before results, not after

For a UAE university file, IGCSE results feed into a Ministry of Education equivalency process, and the British-track requirements have been publicly clarified. As reported in July 2026, students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must also submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. One page currently ranking in this market states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects; the clarified rule is five.

On the American track the same clarification sets English proficiency at a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT test, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, with mathematics requiring at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. The report does not mention EmSAT and states no IB points threshold, which is why no IB equivalency figure appears anywhere on this page. If you need the IB number, read it on moe.gov.ae or ask the emirate's attestation authority directly rather than trusting a tutoring site.

The timing point is the one that costs families money. Equivalency is an administrative process with documents, appointments and processing time, run by the Ministry of Education rather than by a school or a tutor. Opening the file while the family is already in the country, before the summer break and before results arrive, means the only missing item in August is the certificate. Opening it in September, from abroad, with a university asking for a decision, is how a gap year starts by accident.

To be explicit about our own position: IB Gram does not perform, submit or guarantee equivalency or attestation, and nothing about tutoring is required for it. We describe the process because a UAE parent planning an IGCSE year needs to know it exists and roughly when it bites. The authority to rely on is the Ministry and the emirate's own service channel, and that is where this page sends you.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across the UAE

A proximity search behaves differently in each emirate, because the number of schools, the number of exam centres and the regulator all change. The notes below are about what near me actually returns where you live, and what it means for scheduling a weekly session.

Dubai

The deepest market in the country and the one where a radius search returns the most results of the most variable quality. KHDA oversees private education here, and its school inspection reports are published, which makes a Dubai parent better informed about the school than about the tutor they are about to hire.

Abu Dhabi

ADEK licenses and accredits private schools in the emirate, and its professional-ethics rules for school staff bar paid tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. For a parent, that reframes the proximity search: the nearest qualified teacher is often the one person who cannot take the work.

Al Ain

Also under ADEK, with a smaller cluster of British-curriculum schools and a correspondingly thin local pool at Extended tier in the sciences. Evening sessions are easier to schedule here than in Dubai because the commute does not eat the 4pm to 6pm window.

Sharjah

The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education in the emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Many Sharjah families have a parent working in Dubai, which pushes the realistic session start past 7pm on weekdays.

Ajman

Private schools in Ajman are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. The IGCSE cohort is small enough that a single school can be the main source of candidates for a subject, and a specialist in a niche option is unlikely to be found within driving distance at all.

Ras Al Khaimah

The Department of Knowledge regulates private education in Ras Al Khaimah and, like Sharjah, approves curricula and assessment methods. Distances between communities here make a weekly visiting arrangement fragile in a way that a scheduled video lesson is not.

Fujairah

Under the federal Ministry of Education, on the east coast, and the clearest case for online delivery in the country. A Fujairah family looking for an Extended-tier Chemistry specialist is not choosing between tutors; they are choosing between a specialist on screen and nobody.

Umm Al Quwain

Also supervised by the Ministry of Education, and absent from almost every competitor page in this market. The practical consequence is that search results for a tutor here are mostly Dubai listings with a wide service-area claim attached.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in the UAE

Dubai

The largest concentration of IGCSE candidates in the country, sitting Cambridge and Pearson entries side by side, sometimes within the same subject department. Students we support attend schools across the emirate; inspection reports for each are published by KHDA and are worth reading before any tutoring decision.

  • Dubai English Speaking College
  • Jumeirah College
  • Dubai College
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Repton Dubai
  • Kings' School Al Barsha

Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

A smaller, more concentrated British-curriculum cluster under ADEK, where a single school cohort can dominate a subject entry. Session timing here is shaped by the capital's commute and by the later school finish at some campuses.

  • The British School Al Khubairat
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • Al Bateen Academy

Sharjah and the northern emirates

Regulated by SPEA in Sharjah, by the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah and by the Ministry of Education in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Subject specialists at Extended tier are scarce locally, which is the single most common reason families here move to online sessions.

  • Sharjah English School
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Scholars International Academy
  • RAK Academy

Schools are named here only as context for the UAE IGCSE landscape; no affiliation, endorsement or relationship with any school or school group is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the four facts from the statement of entry

Board, syllabus code, tier and series for each subject, plus the components listed. If the statement of entry has not been issued yet, the school's exams officer can confirm what has been submitted. These four facts decide which past papers are legitimate practice, and gathering them takes one email.

  2. 02

A diagnostic on one real script

We work from a marked mock or a recent past paper rather than a conversation about confidence. The output is a written read of where the marks went by component, and whether the problem is content, method, timing or command terms. If tuition is not what the problem needs, we say so at this stage.

  3. 03

An introductory lesson at no charge

One 45-minute session per family, with the matched subject specialist, before any payment is discussed. No card details are taken to book it. It exists so a parent can judge the fit on evidence, and so the student can decide whether they will actually talk to this person for an hour a week.

  4. 04

A block counted back from the first paper

We write the plan as dates rather than topics, starting from the exam date on the statement of entry and working backwards through the mock, the coursework deadlines, the Ministry-subject commitments and the Eid break. The number of available sessions is usually smaller than a flat weekly grid suggests.

  5. 05

    Written feedback the family keeps

Session notes after each lesson and a fortnightly summary naming the component worked on, what the marking exposed and what changes next. If a specialist in a niche subject or tier is not available, we say so and give a date rather than substituting a generalist quietly.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The entry details come before the teaching

A Cambridge Extended candidate and a Pearson Higher-tier candidate in the same subject sit different papers. We confirm board, code, tier, components and series before the first full session, because practice on the wrong specification is an expensive way to feel productive.

A specialist instead of the nearest available adult

Removing travel from the arrangement changes what you can choose from. A family in Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain sees the same list of subject and tier specialists as a family in Jumeirah, and the binding constraint becomes the tutor's calendar rather than the drive.

Market rates published, attributed and dated

The AED bands on this page are figures other providers publish about their own services, read in October 2026, with the source named in each case. Most pages in this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote US dollars. A parent should see the band before giving a phone number.

Assessed work stays the student's own

We teach content, explain criteria and give feedback on the student's own draft. We do not supply text for submission, and we do not reproduce board papers or mark schemes as downloads. In a market where one ranking page sells finished coursework, this is a difference worth stating rather than assuming.

Scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, around a UAE school day

Sessions are set in GST and planned around a school day that often finishes before 3:30pm, activities, and a commute. During Ramadan a post-Iftar slot is usually easier to protect than a weekday evening one, and school exam weeks are blocked out in advance rather than cancelled at short notice.

Availability stated plainly, including when it is a no

Niche subjects and specific tiers are not always covered on the week you ask. When a specialist is not free we give a date, or we say the match is not available, rather than putting a generalist in the slot. Families can plan around a clear no; they cannot plan around a vague yes.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in the UAE: your questions answered

What does an IGCSE tutor near me actually mean in a country with five school regulators?+

It means less than the phrase suggests. Your exam centre, your regulator and the Ministry attestation counter all have real locations: KHDA covers Dubai, ADEK covers Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, SPEA covers Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge covers Ras Al Khaimah, and the Ministry of Education supervises Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The exam board is in the United Kingdom. The tutor is the only part of that list whose location can be made irrelevant, and live video does exactly that. Filter on board, syllabus code and tier instead of on distance, and the shortlist improves immediately.

When does the entry deadline for my child's IGCSE series actually close?+

Months before the paper, which surprises most families. Cambridge's published key dates for the March 2027 series set final entries at 27 November 2026, with the exam period running 3 February to 4 March 2027. Pearson publishes its own deadlines per series and issues provisional timetables that can be revised. Your school's exams officer works to an internal deadline earlier than the board's, so in practice the decision point is earlier still. Ask for your series, your deadline and your tier in writing in September. Every other planning decision, including whether to book tuition at all, depends on those three answers.

What is a forecast grade, and can tutoring change it?+

A forecast grade is the centre's professional estimate of a candidate's likely result, submitted to the board. For the published Cambridge March 2027 series, forecast grades were due 27 February 2027. It is built from the evidence the school holds when it submits: the mock, unit tests, classwork. Tutoring cannot change a number the school has already sent, and the person submitting it has no visibility of private sessions. If you want improvement reflected, it has to become evidence the department sees before the submission date, through a re-sat paper or an assessment the subject teacher marks.

My child's mock came back at a grade 5. Can that still move before the papers?+

It depends entirely on why, and the grade alone does not say. Ask for the marked script and the component breakdown. A strong first half with blank final pages is a timing problem, which can shift in a few weeks of sectioned timed practice. Consistent half marks across every topic is usually a command-term problem, which responds to mark-scheme work. Two or three topics at zero is a genuine content gap that needs direct teaching first. A long-standing algebra deficit is the slowest of the four. The honest answer comes after reading the script, not before.

Which exam timetable applies to a UAE exam centre?+

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, and its guidance to exams officers states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that Cambridge cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam when the wrong zone timetable has been used. In practice that means a UAE centre and a UK centre can sit the same paper to different published times. Get the zone-correct timetable from your school rather than from a general listing, and check it against the statement of entry for clashes before the series starts.

We will be travelling in August when results come out. What should we arrange first?+

Three things, before the summer break begins. The exact date results are released to students, which for Pearson June 2026 was 20 August 2026 to students and 19 August to centres. An email address at the school that will be monitored during the holiday. And the centre's own internal deadline for requesting a review of marking, because those requests go through the centre rather than direct from a parent. Decide in advance who opens the results and who is authorised to act. The windows after results day are short, and a holiday is how families miss them.

How quickly do we have to decide about querying a mark?+

Faster than most families expect, and the process runs through the exam centre, not through you. Both boards operate post-results services with published deadlines that fall within weeks of release, and the centre has to submit on the candidate's behalf. The useful preparation is to know, before results day, who at the school handles it and what their cut-off is. The decision itself should be made from the component breakdown: a near-miss concentrated in one paper is a different case from marks spread thinly below the boundary across all components.

We moved to the UAE in October and my child joined Year 10 late. Where do we start?+

With a tier confirmation and a gap list, in that order. Find out from the school whether the entry is Core or Extended, or Foundation or Higher, because that sets the grade ceiling and is decided by an entry form rather than by ability. Then identify the units already taught. From CBSE or ICSE the content usually transfers and the question style does not. From an American system the opposite is true. From British Year 9 the student is simply a term behind. Families in this position typically book six to twelve weeks of focused catch-up alongside school.

Do lessons stop during Ramadan?+

They move rather than stop. School days shorten and the household rhythm changes, so a post-Iftar slot often works better than the usual weekday evening and tends to be calmer and better attended. The Eid break then removes a working week, which matters if the exam series is close. Our practical advice is to mark Ramadan, the Eid holiday, school exam weeks and the mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies commitments on one calendar before counting how many sessions a term actually contains. The number is usually smaller than a weekly grid implies.

Can a tutor help with the practical paper over video?+

Partly, and it is worth being precise about which parts. The practical components reward describing a method precisely, identifying variables, tabulating data correctly, plotting accurately and reading a gradient. All of that is written work and transfers well to a screen-shared past paper. What a video lesson cannot do is give a student time with the apparatus, and that has to come from school. The common pattern we see is a candidate who has handled equipment all year and still loses marks on method writing and graph conventions, which is the part sessions can address directly.

What does IGCSE tuition cost across the UAE market in 2026?+

Published figures, read in October 2026, run from the budget end upwards: EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 an hour, Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150, TutorChase quoting AED 270, and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table putting in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 and specialist exam-year work at AED 200 to 450 and above. BartyED publishes AED 650 at the premium end. Monthly packages appear from around AED 799 for eight online sessions. Those are each provider's own published rates, not IB Gram's; ours is discussed at the consultation.

Is a group revision class worth it eight weeks before a paper?+

Sometimes, and the deciding factor is whether the whole group shares your child's problem. A group class teaches to an average. Eight weeks out, most candidates do not need more teaching of the syllabus; they need the specific thing their own script keeps costing them, which differs from the student next to them. A group works well for content that is genuinely missing across a cohort and poorly for timing, command terms or one weak component. If you have a marked script, read it first and let the diagnosis choose the format.

Does my child need Arabic and Islamic Education for the Ministry's five-subject count?+

No, and this is a point one ranking page gets wrong. As reported in the July 2026 clarification, the British track requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. A competitor page states six subjects. Separately, those subjects remain mandatory at school under KHDA and federal requirements. Verify your own case on moe.gov.ae before relying on any website, including this one.

Can my child's own school teacher tutor them privately in the evening?+

Treat that as a no, and check. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and carries a code of conduct that bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff have been reported as prohibiting paid tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. Those tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. Ask any tutor to show their permit.

Six weeks are left before the first paper. Is it worth starting now?+

Yes for some problems and no for others, and you deserve the honest split. Six weeks is enough to fix timing, command terms, graph and method conventions, and one or two missing topics, because all of those respond to concentrated paper work with marking in between. It is not enough to rebuild two years of absent algebra or to learn a full science syllabus from a standing start. The first session should be a diagnostic on a real script so the plan targets the two components with the weakest margin, and so nobody spends the last fortnight on the wrong thing.

What happens if no specialist is available for my child's subject and tier?+

We tell you, with a date. Niche subjects, specific tiers and particular boards are not always covered in the week you ask, and the alternative to saying so is putting a generalist into a specialist slot, which wastes the one resource an exam year does not have. If the match is not available we say whether it is a wait of days or weeks, or whether we cannot cover it at all. A clear no is something a family can plan around, which a vague yes is not.

Before anything else, get four facts from your child's school in writing: the board, the syllabus code, the tier and the series for each subject. Those four decide which papers are real practice and when every deadline falls. Send them to us with a marked mock or a recent past paper and we will come back with a written read of where the marks went by component, and whether a block of sessions is the right answer at all. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with an introductory 45-minute session at no charge, one per family, and no card details taken to book it. Home visits are part of our India service only.
